I found Lee’s “I love you” directly to Casey completely unethical and inappropriate. Actually, I thought it was legally not permitted for a witness to address a defendant. I’m surprised in all of the news reports analyzing what I love you actually meant and Casey’s reaction, that there is not one commentary on the legality of it. It should have been addressed by the Court. In any event, if he does it during the trial, he will have established his testimony as biased and not truthful to a jury.
As for Cindy, I saw her as the same old. Albeit more subdued and medicated. I don’t believe any lightbulbs or moments of doing the right thing was part of her behavior. It appeared deliberately restrained and rehearsed. This woman, who knows every chapter and verse of her own statements and testimony and every detail of June-July 2008 now cannot remember certain details of July 15. She only spent about 5 minutes cleaning out the car. (And by the way, she does not state she put the car items in the backyard – perhaps in previous deposition she has). She was only at home for 15 minutes but managed to do a full cycle of washing. I found it interesting that she said she never went into Tony Lazzaro’s, she just stuck her head in. The account from Tony Lazzaro and his friend is slightly different and says she did come in. No surprise she said in court she thought Caylee was alive. She’s been saying that all along, in an effort to save her daughter. Nope, same old Cindy – but one who clearly understands what perjury means.
O Muse I am with you.
Linda Drane Burdick handled it masterfully:
“I don’t suppose you were speaking to me just now..”
If this were trial, I do not think Judge Perry would have let that go.
B
Except she first stated they did NOT alert. I believe that was Cindy trying to control events.
B
At the trial, Cindy won’t be able to exercise much control as the wonderful LDB/GA will refute her every claim that the cadaver dogs did not hit in her back yard. Just let Cindy try!!!
Hi y’all, I have had to work like crazy – - so this may have been mentioned – but – right after Cindy states that she still believes that Caylee is alive, she makes an odd face and holds it – and the camera stays on her a few seconds- and then goes over to KC. If you stop-action for the next couple of minutes, KC goes through the most interesting repertoire of facial expressions. I would love to read someone’s professional analysis of this – or anyone’s opinions…
angela:
Go to Dr. Lillian Glass’s website. She is a well-known body language expert. She has posted about Cindy & George at this last hearing & will be posting about Lee. She has written some about what you have brought up.
angela go to lillianglass.com she reads body language.

I also had noticed the gurning of Cindy and Casey’s reaction. It is the only time I actually saw Casey change expression throughout the whole Hearing. I believe this is the video clip showing this at 3.21 onwards:

Blink, I know you are busier than a one-armed paper hanger (no offense to the disabled), but I can’t wait to read your take on the latest Motion (I use that term liberally) regarding the jail house conversation. I need your pithy take on it someday.
Be kind to yourself this week, you deserve it.
Reading back over the last couple of pages of posts… When we’re talking about the discrepancy in Cindy’s testimony that she wasn’t home all that long after bringing the car home, she did say that she was able to do a whole load of laundry, didn’t she? Also, way back when, wasn’t there some talk about Cindy saying that she grabbed a sandwich or lunch while she was home and before she returned to her office? Did I dream that?
When she said she still thinks Caylee is alive, I think we have to take that at face value. I don’t think we can start interpreting her “meaning” of that phrase. If we do that, we’ll be just like Cindy when she tells us that when Casey says “Jeff”, she really means boyfriend and when Casey says “Zanni”, it’s a generic name for whoever is watching Caylee at that time. It’s all total nonsense. I believe that in Cindy’s mind, she truly believes Caylee is still alive simply because her mind will not allow herself to believe that she’s dead.
Hi ChicagoJudy,
I understand your point- and maybe you are right- we shouldn’t try to interpret Cindy or anyone’s “meaning”
But here’s the thing- much of this case is based on circumstantial evidence (although as Blink has wisely said- we haven’t seen every piece of evidence yet)
The jury will be weighing their testimony and will be able to give reasonable meaning to their actions- in other words, what is reasonable, that Cindy said The damn car smell was a dead body, or that it is reasonable that even though she didn’t really think that, she used it to get police there…
Is it reasonable that this grandma believes her grandchild is alive, even after having a service and wearing her cremation jewelry,
or is it more reasonable to concur that this grandma- hasn’t come to terms with her granddaughters death- and simply somedays hopes she is alive…
I agree Cindy’s own prior statements about putting the pants in only cause she had a load of darks ready, and eating a sandwich ect ect will be used to pin down the truth- or at least the truth that Cindy remembers what Cindy wants to remember (same for all testimony from G&L)
ANd I agree with Blink that just like Lee’s ILY wouldn’t be allowed at trial- The prosecution is going to pick apart the Anthony’s and everyone’s testimony at trial. They didn’t need to question Cindy’s inconsistencies about the pants or much of anything- They needed only to get her to prove their motion on the 911 calls.
ANd even though the prosecution did stir both Cindy and Lee to the truth regarding past statements- vs the BS they were trying to spew- they only went as far as they needed to to get the 9111 calls in evidence-
Lawyering is a balancing act- you need to pick your battles- The prosecution won their battle and they are gearing up for the war
Mom3.0- I completely understand your post analyzing (if you will) a jury’s view. I noticed the same thing. For two years now we have all seen the Anthony’s treat anyone and everyone who’s not on the “Casey’s innocent” train like total idiots. In past depos Cindy, George and Lee have all corrected others questioning them or they have just been flat out disrespectful.
Thursday was the first official day for Cindy and Lee to apply their “trial training” and trust me folks, they will only get better from here.
I am not saying they aren’t all lying anymore, but one thing they have probably been told over and over again is we aren’t here to get the truth we are here to win over a jury of 12 men and women.
We are all going to witness the Anthony’s on their best behavior when they get on that stand- from what I saw Cindy has done her homework. I know way too much about this case, but had I not I would have felt a lot of sympathy for that Grandmother on that stand. This doesn’t take away the facts of the case or the evidence against Casey which is precisely why the Anthony’s need the jury to feel sorry for them.
We have to remember that the juror’s won’t know the details of Cindy and George’s involvement in this case so there is a possiblity most of the jurors will walk away felling very sympathetic toward them.
I don’t believe it will have any bearing on the jury’s ultimate decision over Casey’s guilt whatsoever, but if the Anthony’s went in court acting the way they’ve acted for the past few years they may as well go ahead and order Casey’s coffin.
Yes, Blink, I loved Ms. Drane-Burdick’s response to Lee. LOL. She was so artful and skilled in her approach to questioning Cindy and Lee. She is extraordinary.
Re: Cindy’s testimony about her activities at home on July 15th. From her state deposition of July 2009:
“(Cindy)A: All I did when I went in there, I took out the stuff that was in the car because the car smelled bad, so I set it out in the garage to let it air out. And we left the trunk of the car open with the windows down and the sunroof open.
(LDB)Q: Okay.
(snip)
In the backseat I saw a pair of pants. It was her gray work slacks that had, like, a pinstripe in it. And they had an odor. So I already had – we always separate laundry. We have a couple of laundry baskets in the garage and I always separate darks and whites and put stuff on top that if we have to do special.
And I already had a load of dark ready to go, so I threw that in and threw the pants in and washed those.”
Cindy then goes on to describe the comprehensive cleaning out of the car and trunk and airing out of various items (and make no mistake, based on her own words, she scoured that car from top to bottom and clearly itemized its contents). She says,
“I probably spent 20 minutes just doing that.”
Then…
“A: He (George) called his employer and said he was running late, but I told him to go on to work. So I was, like I said, probably about 15, 20 minutes I was home taking care of that. And I never got lunch, so I got a quick bite to eat and then went back to the office.”
Again, I believe Cindy promoting Caylee as alive has and always will be for one purpose – if Caylee is alive, then Casey cannot be a murderer. No denial, just a simple equation of logic to save her daughter.
Thank you NoseyRosey.
You certainly got the point I was trying to make- We all have been following this case very closely- We have all searched out every media encounter, jail visit, 911 call, Good Morning Amerca / Larry King appearance. Many of us have read/listened to each released interview w/LE, depo ect ect. We have even looked at most of the evidence.
We know the whole story- but what we don’t know is if the defense will succeed in getting any info /evidence withheld from the jury. We don’t know what the Prosecution will and won’t present inorder to make its case.
In the OJ trial the prosecution decided to withhold the testimony of both witnesses that sold their stories- one claiming they saw OJ speeding away from the area, and one a knife salesman that said that he sold OJ a serrated edge knife in the weeks before the murders.
OJ’s “suicide” letter was withheld, along with the info that he had a large amount of cash and a disguise in the bronco while fleeing to the “cemetery”- Many of his prior statements to LE were withheld.
Would any of that info having been presented change the verdict? Would it have been enough to overcome Furhman, and other mistakes along with “if it doesn’t fit you must acquit?” We will never know.
I do think LDB and the prosecution will handle this case far better than we could ever hope. But I, like you, believe that the defense, Casey and the Anthony’s are trying their hardest to present reasonable doubt.
The Jury will never know ALL that we know- and that is probably a good thing. Casey does deserve a fair trial. She will get it. The evidence presented will be enough to prove her guilty beyond a reasonable doubt- despite The defense’s best efforts to present Casey and her family in a better, more sympathetic light.
Both sides will ask every potential juror if they are willing to put aside whatever they may have heard and seen before the trial, and be fair and impartial. IMO, that is how it should be. A person is innocent until proven guilty and the evidence presented at trial must prove their guilt or innocence beyond a reasonable doubt.
Would any of us want it any other way?
“I believe that in Cindy’s mind, she truly believes Caylee is still alive simply because her mind will not allow herself to believe that she’s dead.”
Why isn’t she still looking for Caylee, then? (Not that she has ever done much looking which wasn’t attached to a locale with a TV appearance and a first-class hotel.) If she believes Caylee is still out there why did the searching for her, not only stop, but never begin?
Cindy has never even made any appeals to the kidnapper via any TV appearance to please return the child. She has also insulted and obstructed anyone slugging through the mire searching for Caylee because she very well knew that a dead Caylee was a grave problem for her darling daughter.
She knows the child whose ashes she wears in jewelry is her grandaughter. She’s a nurse;she understands about DNA. She has known that harm came to that child from her miscreant issue since she smelled the car and inquired of George, “What died?”
Her wistful “I still think Caylee is alive” is Cindy’s attempt to taint the jury pool and keep her “sociopath” (Cindy’s word.) mother-of-the-year hellion from the needle. She has tried anything and everything up to now, including placing the blame on ET and his brother from another planet.
How many times did this woman who at a glance can quickly see that a date is wrong on a court paper say, “I can’t remember”… some 14 times about the most important day of her life? Cindy is wistful and living on her delusions, is in denial and clinging to her dreams? Yeah, like that sly fox about to invade the hen house. It is called survival.
Understand your points Mom3.0. I agree that for those who don’t know this case as well as some of us, that performance by Cindy was very very good. And she, George and Lee have another year to rehearse. I think Lee’s going to need a muzzle to control the laughter! Cindy is very good at what she does. It’s taken her years to hone her lying skills. She has a great memory which is an asset for an habitual liar. So, for her to say she doesn’t remember, imo, is just a crock of poop.
Also glad I didn’t dream the part about her eating lunch before she went back to work. Wonder how someone smells what she thinks good be human decomposition and then goes in the house and has a snack. But I guess at that point, she really had no idea that Caylee was “missing”, so had no reason to think the worst — until much later that evening.
EXTRA EXTRA READ ALL ABOUT IT
Blink from Blinkoncrime as been proven right in yet another speculation in The Casey Anthony Case….
Snipped-
As reported today:
“There is a shift of the blame in the case against Casey Anthony. Documents released only to WFTV Monday show, for the first time, Casey’s lawyers are investigating her father. WFTV legal analyst Bill Sheaffer said the defense may be trying to discredit him, or possibly blame George Anthony.”
http://www.wftv.com/news/24313592/detail.html
ROTFL
Now that is an “EXTRA”- What do they what to know I wonder?
B
One other thing- Casey sat there and watched her mother testify and didn’t shed a single tear and then Lee gets on the stand and Casey falls apart – is this part of the defense strategy? Blink, do you think the defense is going to use Cindy’s controlling behavior as a defense or do you think Casey just simply doesn’t care for her mother? It also makes me wonder about the accusations Casey made towards Lee and then they both act the way they did on Thursday- I think it may all be part of the plan.
http://www.wftv.com/news/24313592/detail.html
Blink…you are amazing…you called it months ago!!!!!
I think Conway is going to be very, very busy.
B
Top news story on WFTV at 5pm was that the defense has their PI focusing on George now as suspect #1. Kudos to all those that predicted months agothe big old bus was coming for George. I wonder if he is in agreement with this if it means “reasonable doubt” for a jury. It’s beyond me how anyone could sit back and take this kind of abuse just to save a murderer.
Rut-roh. The bus has left the station. Duck and cover, George.
Casey’s Defense Investigating George Anthony
http://www.wftv.com/news/24313592/detail.html
“There is a shift of the blame in the case against Casey Anthony. Documents released only to WFTV Monday show, for the first time, Casey’s lawyers are investigating her father. WFTV legal analyst Bill Sheaffer said the defense may be trying to discredit him, or possibly blame George Anthony.”
(snip)
“Records obtained by WFTV show the defense is investigating George Anthony’s suicide attempt. They did it to her ex-fiance, Jesse Grund, who was willing to raise another man’s child as his own. The defense did it to meter reader Roy Kronk, who found Caylee Anthony’s remains near the Anthonys’ home on Hopespring Drive.
Now, the defense team could be doing it to Casey Anthony’s father, trying to discredit George. Records show her defense team’s private eye has investigated George’s suicide attempt the month after Caylee was found.”
(snip)
“He was the last person to see Caylee, along with Casey. The duct tape came from his house. The heart stickers came from his house,” Sheaffer said.
That is some brilliance. Sorry for the snark, but duh.
B
Blink,
What is it with the local Central Florida news reporting today Casey’s defense team using taxpayer money investigating George Anthony? Looking forward to you next article!
Of course they are. How else will they know how big of a bus they need?
B
Thank you Blink, little did I know my every wish . . .
Muse, I think sindy’s saying Caylee is alive is to keep her out of the pokey for collecting money for/from the “fun”dation.
Blink, not to differ with you, but I think they are not interested in the size of the bus, but the width of the tire treads — of course, of great concern is the tat on georgette’s chest doesn’t get distorted. Aargh!
I think it is time we all try to connect with George- he seems to like the easy life, so maybe someone should contact him and let him know he could sell out his entire family and get paid millions for it. If he came forward and told the truth about what he and Cindy know he would be a hero…..a very rich hero. Hell, he probably knows enough to have his wife put away for a long time too
Seriously though, He really needs to take this opportunity to stand up for Caylee, I think it is a disgrace for Caylee’s mother to do this to her JoJo because no matter what, Caylee loved her grandparents more than life.
Have we left this blog spot now?
Should I put the light out?
Hey, guys…
Not sure where we are, but always checking everything at Blink.
Bless you all
