Caylee/Casey Anthony Case: Cheney Mason Predicted Casey’s Conviction AFTER Caylee Was Recovered

You can pretty well predict there’s going to be a life sentence, either a plea and get it over with or have a circus trial and then be convicted and get life,”

– J.Cheney Mason, counsel for Casey Anthony

Well now, there you have it. Words from J. Cheney Mason, co-counsel of the defense team via THE BAEZ LAW FIRM.  Was he co-counsel when he said it? No.  All the more reason to wonder why he would sign on to this case. Yet bet Ms. Simms is happy she did not have a TV when these aired.

Cheney’s prediction of Casey’s trial outcome comments were made the day after Caylee’s remains were located, and OCSO was still onscene, December 12, 2008.

Casey Anthony’s parents were still guests of the THE RITZ CARLTON thanks to ABC, and their Hopespring Drive home was being turned upside down by OCSO ater finding Caylee’s Winnie the Pooh blanket her grandmother conveniently forgot to mention was missing from her room.

“Hopespring” - now there is the boss of all oxymorons in this case.

Tuesday, in the news-less press conference, Mr. Mason forgot his former comments as an “analyst” for local 6 as invited by reporterTony Pipitone.

WFTV Reporter Kathi Belich asked Mason if he recalled being a commentator on the case and concluding that Casey would be convicted.

His Response In pertinent part:

“… I Don’t recall making any such statement..”

O No? We DO.

AFTER Caylee Anthony’s remains were recovered

…” All that talking and the press interviews.. the parents going on this show and that show, the lawyer (Baez) going on different shows established they have no credibility whatsoever..”

Sorry, but I’d really like to separate rumor from truth as much as possible.
    ———————————

If it helps any, I stopped believing anything they said after the dead body smell in the car became rotting pizza. That was IIRC just about one day after Casey was arrested.

So the brother is just as big of a LIAR and scum as the inmate, his mother, and his father. I remember the video on how he was relaying the gas can story to LE. And it must be contagious because his girlfriend has to know about all the LYING and COVERING UP yet she is still with him which makes her involved in the LYING and COVERING UP. I knew he was FLAKY but thought he did some legit investigation in the beginning but now I’m starting to think he was in a very good position to fabricate things. And to think that CAYLEE was born into that. Animals would’ve loved CAYLEE and cared for her better than these things. What those things are doing in defense of the inmate is not the least bit admirable nor nothing to be beating their chest or be proud of. DISGUSTING!

What did those things think, that all 4 of them could go through life happily and merrily and no one would notice a lack of Caylee nor ask about her?!

I pray that once the inmate is sentenced that this “family” be asked to pay back the money that they have made the LE and Florida waste over the past 2+ years. Have to pay Zenaida. Have them do lots of hours of community service outdoors in the middle of the summer with snakes, thorn bushes, ‘gators. You get my drift. Then after that some jail time for them too.

    Out of Order,

Got that from the comments here. I asked Blink about it and I haven’t received a reply yet. The first time I heard about it was here on this site. Your guess is as good as mine. I like to have the source otherwise to me it’s just an opinion.

  11. chelsea1515 says:

Out of Order – this was posted on 23rd Aug 2010 on http://www.humbleopinionforum.com :….. There was a theory at one time that on July 3 Cindy found the Momma Doll clothes buried in the back yard– that made her panic and she wrote the “My Caylee is missing” thing on the computer. Could be… makes as much sense as anything else in this mess…… For what it’s worth.

  12. Mom3.0 says:

    Anna- Hi- welcome to BOC.

I know it can be nerve wracking when we ask Blink a specific question and Blink doesn’t get back to us. In fact I have seen many people go off in a huff when Blink doesn’t answer-

Blink is not being rude, try not to take it personally. We have all been subjected to Blink’s brilliance only to have her shut up in mid discussion. LOL

Blink has her own ‘rules’ to answering questions IME:

Blink has either answered the question- along time ago
or the question should be discussed and thrashed out amongst the commentors.

Blink says this is a teaching blog-

In other words she wants us to find our own answers through research and discussions with other posters.

So, I’ll try and answer your question.

Blink as held that theory for a long while. She bases it on many hours of research and time on the Caylee case. If you click on Casey Anthony’s name in the list to the left- all of Blink’s past articles on Caylee will come up. You will be able to find exactly where/when and why Blink has that theory.

It all began with the frantic behaviors of July 3rd- What made Cindy stop her yard work and go try and find Casey? Why did she try and meet Casey at Universal? What made her get Lee involved-sending him out to find Casey and Caylee? When/Who disturbed the ground at the Anthony’s that LE mentioned? Who /when/why did they move the playhouse? Why were pavers put down moved? Why was Momma doll left in the carseat? Where are her clothes? Ect Ect.

Blink does have inside sources, and we never really know just what Blink is basing her theories upon- is it her personal insights or is it on her inside sources. Or is she just pondering on things to further the discussion?

It reminds me of the Tootsie Pop commercial- The little boy goes to the wise old owl and asks, “How many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop?” 123 CRUNCH “The world may never know.”

I will tell you that Blink has been right in this case a heck of alot more than she has been wrong. Blink KNOWS a heck of alot more than she can say.

Why do you think we would all subject ourselves to Blink’s maddening non-responses. LOL

Anna, I hope this helped- again welcome.

  13. OutofOrder says:

Thanks, Anna & Chelsea, I never read at that site so I appreciate the answers. After 2+ years of this case, one would think that people would be sick and tired of the rumor mill and it would stop.

No matter where you go, this case just seems to breed it over and over again.

  14. Mom3.0 says:

    OutofOrder-

    Hi
    Welcome to BOC-

Blink has NEVER said that Mamma dolls clothes were under the pavers.
Blink’s paver comment was affirmative to me, regarding whether or not the Anthony’s had laid cement not anything about Mamma or her clothes..

Blink has never said exactly what the Anthony’s found on July third. Only that It is her belief that they did find SOMETHING during their yard work and Blink suspects that it could have been Mamma dolls clothes.

SOMETHING set Cindy into frantic mode on July 3rd. Up until then, she wasn’t trying to “catch” Casey and or Caylee anywhere. She certainly wasn’t involving Lee yet- until July 3rd.

Cindy until July 3rd, was simply playing phone/text tag with Casey. She was trying to have Casey come back home, or let her talk to Caylee on the phone- or send NEW pics. Casey always put her off with “Tomorrow” and “Shes napping” and “We are bonding” ECT ECt.

UNTIL July 3rd this seemed to work to placate Cindy. Others believe that the July 3rd “Frantic mode” was brought on by the Holiday and Cindy’s hope and need to have Caylee with her for the 4th, and not because of anything found or not found.

I however think it had to be more than that, because she chose to involve Lee and Malory in the whole thing. JMO

Hello OutofOrder, Thanks for letting me know that there was no offense. IRT rumors I don’t know how many times I have went searching the internet to try to differentiate between rumor and fact in this case.

For instance- I know that Lee said something like(pp) is this anything like the last time? -to Casey. I thought it was in a jailhouse visit- but now I can’t find it and others on the net are saying it was not true- he never said that- and Casey never answered back–(pp) oh no nothing like that…
So I have been driving myself crazy looking for it… to no avail. Did I dream it???

Here’s something I do know- Nostradamus was apparently wrong in his predictions regarding Casey – if the quatrains were about her at all. August is long since past and Casey is not free because of someone’s confession or other.

  26. cindeefromwisconsin says:

Mom3.0 Lee did say that to Casey and I think it was during a jail visit

  27. OutofOrder says:

Mom3 – the comment from Lee is true, although I best to my memory, WE, (the public) didn’t get to see it asked in a live conversation with Casey. IIRC, the question from Lee came to us as a narrative sentence/question between him and LE during one of the interviews.

Example – “And then I asked Casey, is this like last time?” (Lee to Casey, recalling their conversation as told to LE.)

Have you checked the conversations between Tony & Lee when Tony was wired? It also could have been said by Lee to Tony.

I can’t be sure when it was said, but I am sure that it was said. You didn’t make this up.

As for Nostradamus, if I typed my true feelings on soothsayers, psychics, etc., I may offend a lot of people, so suffice it to say that I liken them all to witch-craft. As I said before, I prefer to stick with facts; not rumor, not bumbo-jumbo.

  28. Phyllis says:

It was in a jailhouse visit…Lee sure did ask Casey that very question. I can’t remember what Casey’s answered but I know Lee asked that. I have not looked tried to look it up but I do know it did happen.

  29. RubyRose says:

I think it was when KC was out on bond that she said “they haven’t even found the clothes yet”. Does anyone remember this statement?

Maybe Tracy (LP Assistant) reported that but I can’t recall exactly.

Why would she make that comment when they found Caylee’s clothes (or at least the clothes SA believe she was wearing) with her remains. KC’s statement makes me believe she was referring to clothes other than the one’s located on Suburban Drive. Is it possible she was referring to clothes she murdered Caylee in and disposed of them before she disposed of Caylee due to fluids or could she be talking about Momma Doll?

It was my understanding Caylee always took the clothes off her dolls anyway so the doll clothes would not spark an alarm.

  30. Mom3.0 says:

    cindeefromwisconsin, OutofOrder, Phyllis ,

Hello everyone. Thank you so much, for letting me know that I am not just dreaming it… I am glad that there are others that remember it.

I am still looking and thanks for the suggestions OutofOrder- you might be right, maybe it was in a conversation with Lee and someone else…

If anyone comes across the quote/link anywhere, would you please post it here? (lurkers too) I would greatly appreciate it- as I wrote, sometimes it drives me bonkers!

Most of the time, I feel that way too, OutofOrder, about Nostradamus ect- but I always leave a little bit of wiggle room on my “total” disbelief… Who knows, you know? As Shakespeare wrote: “There are more things in Heaven and Earth, Horatio,
Than are dreamt of in your philosophy.” –

Don’t forget guys, that there is a status hearing today at 1:30 ET
and FYI the state on Friday, just gave the Defense another 48 pages of documents – from the FBI

  31. Mom3.0 says:

Hey RubyRose, I just read your comment, and yes- I believe that quote from Casey was relayed by Tracy- or wait- maybe it was the guy on the team- the one that Casey was playing the sunglasses game with? I can’t remember his name. The chauffeur?

Cindy did say that Caylee never KEPT clothes on her doll. But in all the pics I have EVER seen of Caylee with the babydoll she is ALWAYS clothed.-

Just a thought, but as controlling as Cindy and Casey were, even if they had to “fight” Caylee, to keep the doll clothed, as reported by Cindy, IMO I do not see them leaving the house without the doll clothed or an outfit for her in the back pack- So Why were there no clothes for Mamma doll anywhere in the car?

Casey and Cindy wanted the doll clothed, so where were the clothes Caylee took off of her beloved Mamma?

  32. Dancing Shoes says:

Lee definitely asked Casey, “Is it like the last time?” It was not a narrative; it was from a video of an early jailhouse visit. I remember it exactly. I too have searched high and low for that video so I can see it again, but it has obviously been launched into cyberspace. Why? When I heard that conversation, it made me think that Casey had tried to hurt or do something terrible to Caylee before, something the Anthonys are keeping under wraps.

I am hoping LE removed the video from public view because it contains the possibility of evidence that Casey may have a history of abusing Caylee.
    ________

Another observation: Many people on another site (I’m not sure about this one as I am new here) are making a big fuss over the video of Caylee in the highchair, supposedly saying, “I kill,” and being abused by the person filming because they aren’t conversing with her.

Come on! I think too many people are over-analyzing things. First of all, it seems to me Caylee could be saying, “I kiss.” But really, she couldn’t speak well enough at that time to know what she was saying at all. As far as cruelly ignoring her, when my son was little I took many, many vidoes of him, and engaged him in most of them. But there was something magical about filming him when he was enrapt at play, lost in his own little world, or in filming his first spontaneous conversations and enjoying what he had to “say” when not prompted. If this video had been of anyone other than Caylee, I doubt so many people would cast such a dark shadow over it. It’s the power of suggestion at play here, in my opinion.

  33. Mom3.0 says:

    Hello all.

    Today’s Status hearing-

My sound wasn’t that good during the hearing, so I may have missed alot- I hope to catch it later.

Here’s my take FWIW, for those who may have missed it-

The defense team seems to be cramming for the exam the night before instead of learning the material earlier and spreading out the workload to make it more manageable.- They have not completed MANY witness depos- in all 3 categories.

JP ordered- Expert witness depos extended to Nov 12. Nov 30 is the deadline for the penalty phase witness depos. JP says Lay witness depos- “you have until Oct 31″ Don’t forget there are nights and weekends.”

Baez wants Casey present for correctional officers depos–Judge does not give him an answer or feedback- must file motion

Baez brings up wanting DNA evidence looked at by a renowned doctor/ lab that is out of the country. Baez says if it is a matter of being an uncertified lab – in 30 days they will have a lab opening in Denver Co- JP says I’ll wait-ruling pending the question is about certification of the lab, but says will not let evidence go outside of US.

LDB saying defense taped a statement from, D. Lohr and has not released it to State. Baez answered-it was attached to the motion filed on the witness. He is ‘shocked’ she didn’t get the recording.
LDB says-(pp) Well that is just one example. I have not received any discovery from the defense and there are apparently other tapes, according to other witness statements also. LBD says it “appears they are in possession of items that they have not turned over.”

Judge Perry says (pp) you all know the rules, Abide by them- if someone is violating the rules- file a report. You do not want to be caught violating the rules.

Yes, indeed they are in possession of statements they have not turned over. Interesting how they don’t think people talk to each other. I want to say Lohr just had Orlando pics on his Facebook from last week.

Thanks for the update Mom 3.0, we are a house on fire here right now, I appreciate it.

  36. Mom3.0 says:

Dancing Shoes, thanks for weighing in- I already addressed a post to everyone–still in mod (Hi Phylis, OutofOrder, CindeeinWisconsin)

I did seriously think that it was said in a jail visit- but unfortunately I can’t be 100% positive. I thought that too, Dancing Shoes! That maybe LE grabbed it back up- for some reason… I do know that there seems to be some audio/video/time missing on several of the jail house tapes(JMO)-it could be just a glitch I suppose.

Have you given up looking for it Dancing Shoes? I am gonna continue…

IRT- The Caylee tape in the Highchair- I agree with you- I think interpetation is in the ears and eyes of the beholder with this video in particular.

Here’s my take- Caylee was a VERY well behaved baby. She was very verbal at that age, although obviously not able to form perfect words.-(I do not hear I kill or any word really)

Caylee had great hand eye coordination- She fed herself, and drank superbly from a sippie cup. She also exhibited other skills as she recognized there was an opening in her cup and tried to insert her toast into the opening. She also realized that the person taping hadn’t “disappeared” when they were out of her sight under the tray of the high chair. Big deal- in the world of parents with babies.IMO

Caylee was trying hard to interact with whomever was taping her, true, yet, she did not let the lack of interaction disturb her. LOTS of kids would have been saying more than I CEE-screaming or crying or throwing their toast/cup in an effort to get the interaction they wanted IMO.

Not Caylee, though– IMO She had remained on task and was not distracted- with everything that was going on/not going on, she continued to eat and drink- peacefully, looking outside ect- not bothered by the “drama”

Does this mean she felt extremely comfortable and at ease or does this mean that she was used to being ignored??- IDK its all in the interpretation IMO

  37. Mom3.0 says:

ps – Glad to help Blink- interesting that he had pics from Orlando last week HMMM. I agree about not understanding the concept of people talking to one another. It reminds me grade school when some one goes around telling lies about themselves Oh me and so and so went here We are the best of friends- Don’t they know people talk – the truth is easy to find sometimes really!!

Hope you get the fire under control Blink- Hope to see a new piece from you soon- Take care

  38. Dancing Shoes says:

Mom3.0. Yes, I have given up looking for the “Is this like the last time” video. It’s just not out there any longer. I hope one day we find out why not.

Good point about Caylee’s good temperment. When I watched that tape I had the distinct feeling that Caylee learned to be self-sufficient because Casey probably ignored her a good part of the time they spent together. ie. ‘If you don’t want to pay attention to me – ho hum – I’m used to it. I’ll just entertain myself…’ It’s so sad, and yes, she was a good little girl.

  39. Annals says:

An interesting part of the status hearing today was Cheney Mason’s angry (and I think, mean) outburst about taking Amy Huizenga’s deposition. Linda Burdick’s cool response made the defense look bad.

    Going through a list of lay witnesses needing deposition, Jose Baez mentioned that Amy Huizenga’s depo would need to be scheduled for a Saturday morning in Miami. Linda Burdick explained that Amy works on a cruise ship which docks in Miami on Saturdays where she could give the deposition before turning around and going back out to sea. Judge Perry said something about Saturday and Cheney Mason stood up and barked;

“I’m gunna tell you how I feel about it. We have 300 some witnesses here and we’re not worried about anyone else’s work schedule. They’re not worried about mine; I’m not gunna worry about hers.”

“The bottom line is, they want us to take her deposition on a Saturday morning at a time that she’s available between something she’s gotta do. That means we’ve gotta travel on Friday, spend Friday night down there. I think that’s awful. I think she can make arrangements to take her time off. This is a murder case, she’s involved in it. We’ve tried to accomidate, but to tell us we can only do it on Saturday, that’s unacceptable to me.”

“Now, I don’t know what cruise season is or when she’s gunna be off for holiday, but I suggest that’s the only way we can take her deposition.”

Judge Perry: “Have you all talked to her attorney to see if there’s days off other than Saturday when the ship does not go out?”

Jose Baez: “I would add that that her deposition was previously scheduled, but as a courtesy to Mr Kurkonnel (sp?), he had just been retained; and asked if it could be rescheduled.”

Linda Burdick: “She’s been available for a year and a half after which she took this job on a cruise ship to make some money. So, she had been, for the prior two years, available locally, to be deposed, she worked down the street. [pointing to the right]

Cheney Mason; “Well maybe the JAC will buy us tickets for the cruise”

Judge Perry: “Just a second, one at a time. Ms Burdick?”

Linda Burdick: “She was cancelled and you recall that; then not subsequently rescheduled. She was the complaining witness in the check charges; which were resolved earlier this year. Once that case was resolved, was when she took this other line of employment.”

Judge Perry: “Was her deposition taken in the check case?”

    Linda Burdick: “Was not.”

He needs to be handed his asshat and shown the door.

You know who we really need in this scenario? Sue Sylvester. She would straighten them right out.

LDB is a phenom prosecutor in every sense. I am so impressed with her.

Does anyone remember the statement KC made “They haven’t even found her clothes yet”????

Was this made when she was out on bail or did she say this while in protective lock up during the broadcast of Padilla searching the JBLake? I’m trying to find a statement from a witness to this comment.

I would like research a theory I have on the clothes found at the remains site. Now that DT is requesting trace DNA testing on the shorts this makes me more curious about KC’s comment. I do not believe Caylee was wearing the clothes found at the site, and I really do believe the t-shirt was intentional.

    Can someone help??

Blink, Hello – Sorry to bother you, but one of my posts from yesterday hasn’t posted… is it lost, Should I repost? Let me know TIA

Hi Ruby Rose I wrote you a comment yesterday- but I think it got lost…
I think it was said to both Tracy and Rob Dick( I found his name, couldn’t remember yesterday)

Any way I will try to find the specific quote but- yes I remember that- I found a snippet from some others on the IN SESSION boards discussing the quote:

    comment5 from “Pru”-
“the statement about ‘THEY havent even found the clothes that she was wearing’ was said to R Dick and Tracy. in the car. this was in response to him asking her if she packed a bag with clothes for Caylee that day, did she intend on leaving her with Z in the park, and she said no, she wasnt going anywhere with them…thats when THEY took her (meaning Samantha and Z)….then remarks about not finding the clothes.”

    around 64.19.

    Hope this helps Ruby Rose.

By the way- interesting theory you are developing about the clothes- and the touch DNA- Makes me wonder if it is as Blink once pondered… those shorts and possibly the BT t shirt were left at a different date and were never “on” Caylee…

Blink do you still feel this could be a possibility??

I think right now, the only thing I can say as an absolute certainty, is that Caylee was not wearing those shorts when she was placed in the swamp.

I’m thinking it was when casey was brought home from Tony’s and Lee was trying to find out what was going on before LE showed up…….wasn’t that when the “is this like the last time” comment was made?? Gonna go see if I can find it…..

I agree that too many people are reaching in their comments and theories. It seems to bolster when there are long time periods between evidence dumps.

As for this weeks hearing: I was again amazed at Baez’s lack of preparation and ability to form concise sentenances. He could barely find or pronoun names on his little color coded roster. If you pay attention to Masey, Ashton and Judge Perry you’ll see all of them making faces of astonishment at Baez’s lack of lawyering. I just cannot understand how he is allowed to continue as “lead” council, no matter who has his furry back. SNARK!!! Sorry Blink. I wish someone could explain, even with casey’s waiver of an appeal for ineffective counsel, that Baez is allowed to continue to drive this bus. He is making a complete ass of himself and in turn everyone involved. I also think that Mason’s disrespect to Amy H. regarding her depo should have been smacked down, fined and forced to publicly apologize for degrading her job and her valuable time. To hear him you would think that Amy was the accused. She’s the witness and victim you DUMBASS (MASON)! If casey wants to depose Amy then her lawyers can damn well get their sorry butts to Miami and wait in the terminal until she’s available. Like LDB said (PP) “They’ve had over 2 yrs to prepare for the trial and get Amy’s statement”. (I heart her too by the way.)

Thanks Mom3. I am so curious as to why KC said that about the clothes. I wonder if she got rid of the actaul clothes Caylee was wearing and disposed of them in another place?

If we are to believe her comment is regarding the clothes that were found at the remains site, then she knows if they found the clothes they would have also found Caylee.

I think there was another set of cloths and I am certain, like Blink, that Caylee was not wearing the shorts or BT T-Shirt. The t-shirt I think was intential and KC was leaving a messages with Caylee.

Can we trust Tracy’s account of the statement?

If Caylee was not wearing those shorts when she was placed there, then the logical reasoning behind the shorts being there at all is that they held some sort of evidence of murder; blood, semen, etc.

Otherwise, why take them there? It didn’t boost the kidnapping story, as children can and have been kidnapped wearing all sorts of (or none) attire.

On another note, if I were Kathi Belich, I believe I would have taken Mason’s hook-ended umbrella and driven right up his nether regions, then asked him if he could dance on the end of it. The guy is completely absent of any semblance of PR.
