Chris George Search: Human Remains Recovered Was Tip By Orange County Felon On Sentencing Day

Posted by BOC Staff | Adam Vied,Chris George,James Hataway,Rachael George,Tracy Ocasio,Tyler Watters | Tuesday 22 February 2011 7:57 pm

Today, Apopka Detectives are confirming a substantial amount of remains have been found, but as www.blinkoncrime.com reported last evening, a source close to the investigation speaking on the condition of anonymity, has confirmed a cell phone matching the model of that last in Chris George’s possession was also found. Crews are likely to remain for as long as two weeks for a full recovery effort.

At the scene before 8:00 a.m., Chris’ mother, Rachael George, stood vigil at what likely may have been her son’s burial grounds before the search and recovery teams arrived to excavate the site.

Ms. George was escorted to Apopka Police for a briefing this afternoon. In her absence, mother of missing Ocoee woman Tracy Ocasio, also linked to Jimmy Hataway, stayed as a show of solidarity between the two women and their missing children.

On February 11, 2009, Chris George was last known to be in the company of Tyler Watters, currently awaiting trial on trafficking heroin charges. Earlier that day he was known to have been with Jimmy Hataway. Hataway is awaiting trial in Seminole County on an attempted murder charge.

Although there is a pending motion for the disclosure of a confidential informant in Watters case, it is not known if there is any relevance to recently reported tips in Chris’s case. Neither Watters nor Hataway has been charged in relation to Chris George’s disappearance.

What prompted the search of the area previously searched over a dozen times by Apopka detectives?

Sources say, the tip comes from a friend and neighbor of Tyler Watters appearing for sentencing yesterday in drug trafficking charges.

blinkoncrime has learned that the tip to cause Apopka Police to head back to Carter Lake likely came from Adam Vied, who was due in court yesterday in Orange County.

Vied was arrested on trafficking in Dilaudid and Oxycodone charges in November 2009 along with Raymond Meeks, an Ocoee man who is currently incarcerated following his sentencing for the charges in January, 2011. Vied spent 7 years in prison for what was originally an attempted murder charge, which he successfully plead down to aggravated battery in 1997.

The night Chris George went missing, Watters told detectives Chris took him to his Grandmother’s house on Caballero In Ocoee so Watters could shower and change clothes.

Chris was never seen again and both Watters and Hataway have admitted to removing and cleaning Chris’ truck from the scene, only to stage it’s position to resemble an accident the following morning.

Remains recovered at the scene have been sent to the Orange County Medical Examiner’s Office, and await identification confirmation.

Jeezie…I’m in Central Florida for the winter. I’m watching this unfold on the local news. It’s hard to understand how all of this evidence was right under LE’s nose and just coming to light? What’s up with that? I hope to goodness this is the beginning of the end of this case. You have been incredible in your drive to carry this case forward. Kudos to you and your team.

Ty. As a staunch supporter of LE, you know it pains me to say this, but I would be remiss if I did not state my dismay over Apopka Police’s handling of Chris’s case.

I would be referring to the investigation of it as well as the fact that in 2 years, his apparent watery grave, was not searched with side-scan sonar.

This is unbelieveable. A dozen searches by police and no results. These guys need to be given a good training session on how to think and search.

At long last, with the tip to provide the information on the exact location that these LE clowns could not find in twelve attempts, the remains have been found.

Just to make myself clear; the people need LE and they need them to be well trained and willing to engage the public in an event such as this. There are good LE personnel and then there are the clowns who eat the donuts and do as little as possible, including thinking.

If I were a citizen of this community, I would be asking some very tough questions of the elected officials and why it took these people this long to wake up and do their job.

My prayers to the families. Stand strong ladies. Do NOT let these people walk on you.

You and me both. Heartbreaking and Heartwarming at the same time.

I hold Tracy’s Mom, who has waited far too long for justice for those responsible for Tracy’s disappearance, and also Chris’ Mom, who has apparently waited much longer than necessary for justice for her son’s disappearance and what looks to be untimely death. These mothers are now bound by circumstances that never should happen to any mother or any child. I understand that not knowing is torture, but this has to come in as a close second.

I wish you strength for the coming days ahead.

Thanks Blink, et al for the research and updates. Once again there will be tears on our pillows.

Investigators: Bones Visible In Lake Being Searched
    Updated: 12:53 pm EST February 23, 2011

Investigators were sifting through the area Wednesday that they cleared overnight. They’ve been able to see bones sticking up that they haven’t been able to get to yet, because they don’t want to disturb the crime scene.

For the second day in a row, two mothers gathered at the site where investigators found bones, and spotted more bones Wednesday morning.

My prayers are with Chris and Tracy’s moms/familes and with the searchers.

While I hate that this discovery may possibly be confirming what we have long suspected – the death of Chris and possibly Tracy – I am so happy to see something finally happening. I’ve been following Tracys case since her disappearance in May 09. Through that I found BOC and have been a full-time reader/part-time contributer ever since. Through BOC I learned of Chris and have become emotionally vested in his case, as well as many others.
My thoughts are with Rachael, Chris’ girlfriend and all of his other friends and family who are going through this firsthand.
Also thinking of the Ocasio’s and Kesse’s as they hope for resolution as well.

Times like this makes me wish I was home in FL. It is so hard to sit here watching and waiting. I am awe struck at the irony that has played into this finding. I am more aware now than ever that God has perfect timing. I must say… this web site has helped me through a lot of this Blink. I thank you for that. I can’t say it enough times.

I am sure your feeling that way now more than ever A, I know.

Thank you for the kind words, in a particularly difficult case like Chris’s, those words help encourage my team and hopefully other families.

Yes, it is a surreal thing to work these cases to recovery, I think the day I am not awed by it, is the day I would need to do something else.

I’m new here in central Fl. so had just heard about this case (which is very disturbing). I have spent many hours over the last 2 days reading about this case (and that of Traci Ocasio). I have to say that Blinkoncrime is a very impressive operation and I tip my hat to them for their diligent work. Many of the individuals associated with this case (particularly James Hataway, who sounds like and looks like a real creep IMHO) are of a very dubious backgrounds. With that being said, I can’t believe that it’s been 2 years and the lake had not been thoroughly searched (apparently). In that I believe the case of Chris George is related to the case of Traci Ocasio, it could be argued that had that lake been searched thoroughly (and this evidence uncovered)the investigation may have led to the capture of the perpetrator. Subsequently, the disappearance of Traci Ocasio might not have happened. Of course this is speculation on my part and I don’t mean to impugn the efforts of LE- I’m just saying. I sincerely pray for both of these families and I hope that the guilty party(s) are captured (if they aren’t already in custody), convicted, and punished to the fullest extent of the law.

Thank you Lord for this discovery. May The Lord hold Chris’s family in the palms of His hands and give them peace. Thank you Lord for the wisdom you have given Blink and team and may you continue to lead them in all their undying work giving a voice to those who have lost theirs.

Great work Blink. Thoughts are with the families.

  17. swc says:

Although I applaud blink for keeping this case alive and my prayers are with Chris’s family, I have to say that not all of your facts are straight here. For example, Tyler Watters is NOT facing charges for trafficing heroin. Thats easy to look up. In fact, he and Chris were friends and he has cooperated fully with the police to help find his friend. He has also passed 2 lie detector tests. This young man should not be being punished and his life and that of his families should not be being ruined without proof of any wrong doing. Innocent until proven guilty right? This is America. Facts straight first please.

    SWC, welcome to BOC.

    Respectfully, if I may:

    1. Tyler Watters is definitely charged with trafficking heroin, over 4 gms, in addition to possession of weed:

    Charges: WATTERS, TYLER N

Traf. in 4grams or more of Heroin 3yr man-min 893.135(1)(C)1.A. First Degree – Felony 04/27/2010
POSSESSION OF CANNABIS <20 GRAMS 893.13(6)(B) First Degree – Misd 04/27/2010

    2. Tyler and Chris were not friends, they were introduced by Jimmy Hataway. Tyler’s version of events, as well as Jimmy’s changed multiple times, and none of them included the fact that they cleaned Chris’s truck or staged the accident, or that they drove it back to Sun Resorts that evening, among other details.

    3. Tyler has not taken and passed any LDT in this case, nor has he been declared a suspect to date. Although I believe that he will be for some level of complicity as the case progresses.

    4. Mr. Watters is facing felony drug charges, again, fines for failure to appear on driving on a suspended license with a history of possessions and traffic offenses dating back to 2002.

If his family feels their lives are being ruined by his actions I feel bad for them, but I would also advise them to probably tell him to stop breaking the law.

I agree in due process, and I believe in stating the facts, as I have.

Thank you for your support of Chris’s family.

Looks like Hataways trial is being delayed…wonder if it has anything to do with the recent findings…

    http://www.wesh.com/r/26981840/detail.html

It was delayed at the state’s request because several detectives and LE may not be available next week due to the recovery effort, and his attorney objected but lost that battle.

Mr. Hataway’s arrogance that he thinks he is going to beat that case and walk is not going to help him these days.

Your dedication to finding the truth for Chris and Tracy’s family, is just one of the many examples of how you are one of the driving forces (well definately the only person with a site that I feel comfortable posting on & Ive looked) behind a literal vitural grass root crusade that will IMO, completely change the way crimes are solved from here on out.

I know you take alot of flack & I hope that you continue to not let it overshadow your ultimate mission- justice for the victims and their families.

According to the local news WFTV(channel 9), a wallet thought to have belonged to Chris has been found at the search site. The reporter said it had his ID in it. Sorry, I do not have the link…just watched the 6:30pm broadcast on their sister station channel 27.

I have been watching this case with great interest and despare for all of the parents, family, and close friends involved.

In one thread a poster(cannot remember who) said, we are all one introduction away from being murdered. OK…maybe not an exact quote, but close enough. Really hit home with me as a close friend knows many of the characters involved in this horrible event. Luckily for him, and for me I guess, he changed his life and has made an entirely new group of friends. He has not been around this crew for several years.

Thank you Blink for your perserverance and tenacity at uncovering so much information that these people would have loved to keep a secret forever.

My heart goes out to both the George and Ocasio families.

I am glad but sad as well. No one should be “happy” that Rachael got confirmation that based on the finding of a body and Chris’s belongings that her son is dead…even though our fears have been the worst her heart must be hurting more than ever tonight. Instead we should all be extremely glad pieces of the puzzle are now coming together about what happened to Chris. Let’s hope and pray for justice for Chris so the person or persons involved are forever removed from our society.

I think it is safe to say that while they are relieved that this part of the journey is over, there is so much ahead yet in terms of a successful prosecution in this case as you mention.

You and Liz have been a source of support and comfort for Rachael, how magnanimous given Tracy’s own missing status. You are in my thoughts and prayers daily.

Interesting conversations. But if you are not the police then you opinions are just that that, opinions.

Two people went missing. One body was found and it looks like the perps might get away with a criminal act. But the police know who are lying, but just can’t get the right evidence for formal charges.

I know that T.W. is not being charged with heroin. It’s got something to do with pills. That’s the problem with all these oxys and roxys. They are addicting and the people who sell their scripts are drugs dealers. Plain and simple. They sell the evil to people on the streets because they don’t have the desire to make an honest living provide legal and productive means to their community. They are the scum of the earth.

A.V. knows nothing of the location where Chris’s remains were found and did not give any tip in reference to this.

Innocent until proven guilty, I agree all the way.

Respectfully, I beg to differ. Then again, I had the benefit of having a copy of his “substantial assistance” agreement with MBI. Vied is an informant and he should of stayed away from robo-texting in this regard as well. He has been for years. He has friends that are as well.

Tyler Watters charges are very accessible via the orange county clerk site, and have been listed here.

Lastly, and again respectfully, if the police were so knowledgable, it would not take 2 years, an informant, begging from the victims family to investigate this case and the lead detective stumbling over evidence at the crime scene that has been searched a dozen times, to find Chris.

There is not one person that wants to go to head with me on this case. I promise.

This investigation was handled improperly, it just was.
