Isabel Celis Breaking News: Child Services Removes Sons From Sergio Celis Care and Placed With Mother

In the latest development in the April 21st disappearance of missing Tucson child Isabel Celis,  her father Sergio has been stripped of his physical custodial rights of her brothers.

There has been no confirmation from Tucson Police about the children’s removal and placement, and CPS has only confirmed the boys have been placed with one parent.

Sources inside the investigation have confirmed to www.blinkoncrime.com that evidence gleaned in the investigation has warranted alternative placement of the couples oldest children in the wake of the disappearance of their daughter, Isabel.

The boys, whose names have been reported previously elsewhere but are being intentionally withheld by www.blinkoncrime.com have been placed together, not separately.

Check back to www.blinkoncrime.com for details.

After listening (several times) to Sergio’s call with the 911 operator,” I am 110% in the belief that it was not sincere. So with that being said, I have discounted the whole stranger abduction sceniro. Here’s my question, why and how was “uncle” JM there so fast? He goes from one of the first on the scene to help search, to being the family spokesperson to in just a few days, Justin who?

I wonder if when LE arrived that morning, they thought to feel the hood of Sergio’s car. It should have been cool as ice if he hadn’t been anywhere all night.

  3. georgiamom says:

I made this comment on the first night…Sergio provides too much ancillary information about that night – very similar to the descriptions given by GA in another case. I’m beginning to wonder if he was even home that night?

I know that the language barrier (if there is one) makes statement analysis unreliable, but still…I’m troubled by how SC worded one of his answers to the 911 operator. When asked if he remembered what Isa was wearing when he last saw her, he answered “BEFORE SHE WENT TO BED, she was wearing….(blah, blah, blah.) By specifying “Before she went to bed”, was he inadvertently revealing that he also saw her AFTER she went to bed? I always try to maintain an ‘innocent until proven guilty’ opinion, especially when it’s a parent of a missing child, but WOW……..SC’s demeanor was waaay off!!!!

Now they are finally calling it an abduction and “some” family members have been ruled out.

Seems as though maybe this case is beginning to crack…

  6. Providencedad says:

Aftee listening to the 911 call how can anyone rule Sergio out? Chuckling while on the phone with 911 while reporting your daughter missing!? I have a 4 year old daughter who is the love of my life and I wouldn’t be able to function, let alone muster a brief smile, chuckle, etc. Sergio seems as though he has some mental issues and I am 100% convinced he knows what happened to his daughter.

This case is so sad. Such a little girl that looks full of life and she is going through such an ordeal. I hope she is found safe and unharmed and this animal is allowed no where near any of his kids, ever.

I wanted to give the family the benefit of the doubt when this first happened, but, now I know Sergio and some other family member(s) have something to do with this.

There is no doubt in my mind that at the time of that call, he did not truly “believe” some stranger had invaded that home and taken her. What he actually suspected, I sincerely hope we learn someday.

Wrt Becky- she did, but that behavior then, and the recent interviews leads me to believe she may not believe that Isa was abducted by a stranger that may harm her any longer.

Neither parent can be cleared to date, and one is barred from contact, so what the hell is going on here?

    Blink,

I do not want to offend anyone with this question but when Sergio first spoke out about Isabel I wondered if he was gay? Perhaps extramarital affair with man led to Isabel seeing something she shouldn’t have? Again sorry for anyone but my gaydar went off big time everytime he speaks in front of the camera. :(
    Any history?

Well I think anything extramarital is part of an investigation like this, so it is a fair question, but could certainly apply to either parent and either gender.

I continue to be concerned the male voices outside Isa’s window are heard likely immediately after Becky left for work.

Did anyone else notice in the 911 call Sergio referred to Isa’s weight in the past tense? Weird to me~ why she WAS rather than she IS? To me it’s sub-conscience slip….. IMO

I think he was processing his recollection from past dr. visits, or whatever, I did not feel it would be something that a Dad typically knows immediately.

    Thoughts, Blink?

I think her shift started at 7, even if she said she left at 7, it is usally 7am-7PM in pediatric ICU

Mnrkrst you are not alone in your thought as I just didn’t wanna be the first to say it! I don’t get the feeling that Sergio and Becky are a close, loving couple but only for raising their children. To me, and please no one take offense, when I heard him speak I thought he was very effeminate and then I saw him in all the costume make up! lol! Of course I am not saying anything negative about him being an actor nor singing opera. If I saw him without knowing he was married I would have thought the same about him.

I’m still wondering if the male voices outside were him trying to get him eldest son to go along with him on saying someone must have taken her from the window as in help Dad with a cover story.

Let me just say, while I agree he has a fem way about him, that does not mean he is gay, and I say this because I know someone who has a similar “way” and is definitely not, and I know someone whom I would have sworn it was never a possibility and he is. I mean, he is manly man gorgeous, and an avid rugby player and I still ask him if he is “sure”, lol.

Also feel compelled to say that many times a bisexual person chooses to live as a hetero, etc.

I just want to be clear that we do not take a turn on the possibility of gay thing as an issue. If it turns out to be, then that is a different conversation.

  11. NY Liz says:

As far as the chuckle in the 911 call – I’m going to let that slide. I am one that giggles/chuckles when nervous. I was once a receptionist and a ‘special’ person came in for directions soemwhere. I gave a nervous giggle when trying to explain where to go and gentleman got upset because he thought I was laughing at him. It’s a terrible habit, but it’s something I haven’t been able to control. I’m a mess on first dates – giggling the entire time!

As far as the rest of his demeanor…He seems too calm. Even if he’s trying to be ‘a man’ and be in control – he’s too in control.

  12. oneilgirl75 says:

I do not pretend to have experience with 911 calls but I have had to call one time when my kids got into some medication. I can not tell you how many times the 911 operator told me “Mom, you need to stay calm” but it was impossible. I was screaming for my husband who was at the barn. He reacted much calmer than I and was not screaming but he was very upset and you could hear it in his voice and see it in his actions. Although I feel our reactions to our child being missing would be similar with me panicking and him upset but under control I strongly feel you would be able to hear his concern in his voice. At least his breath would be sped up and his tone would be higher. Of course that is my husband. Like I tell my kids, everyone is different.

I have to say I have felt as I did the first time I watch Susan Smith plead for the return of her boys. I have tried to put it in the back of my mind knowing he is an opera singer and may be a little theatrical. That 911 call in my mind has not helped him one bit. So with the 911 call and the voices outside that house by Isa’s room I am very skeptical but at the same time hopeful that she will be returned quickly and safe. If this is a hoax I hope they slam their ASSES with all they can! Sorry but I would not play if that was the truth and the people should come out in force! I have thought of everyone on this blog and prayed for every single person. Lost sleep in the first hours when it was announced they were missing praying for the safe return. If you are having money problems this is not the way out! Give me a break that that even needs to be said!

  13. GraceintheHills says:

SC”s bizarre remark about RC getting her butt home and the chuckle that followed surprised me so much I had to listen to it a few times. That said, it could mean nothing. But, when taken with the fact that he cannot see his sons, it certainly gives me pause. Since LE in many cases say, “No one has been ruled out,” when they, in fact have their prime suspect, my bets are that RC has been cleared or is very low on the POI list. I believe if LE really felt she was involved, her sons would have been placed with other relatives. JMO. Everyone is innocent unless proven guilty.

Prayers for ISA and all who love her.

  14. GraceintheHills says:

Blink, I know RC is an RN in good standing with the Arizona Nursing Board. I have read she is an ER nurse, but you mentioned she is a PICU nurse. Both are stressful jobs and require sharp nursing skills. My point is that the reporting in this case has been all over the map….very frustrating.

  15. Pak31 says:

I have so many questions about this case just as everyone else. I too am stunned at the lack of concern over Isabel in Sergio’s 911 call. I just keep wondering when Sergio woke up that morning. Was he up when Becky left for work? I’ve said this before but I have read Isabel’s game was to start at 9am. You are telling me that if her game is at 9, the first time any person goes in her room is 8am??? That seems awfully late to me considering my children need to be at their games before they start(1/2 for us) and the time it takes to get ready and get to the fields, even if close, I would think you’d need more than an hour. If I am wrong on game time then that would clear up my confusion. I find it odd that Becky screamed she wished she would have looked in on her after she left but it wasn’t like she left 5 hours before Sergio looked in, it was only at most an hour. If she looked in and saw she was gone it wouldn’t have changed the scenerio very much at all. I am just so confused. I know she was hysterical on the phone but I am not going to say that means she wasn’t acting.

  16. Pak31 says:

Oops. Meant to say that we have to be at our field 1/2 hour before game time.

I know a tenor who often has minor leads in local opera, also heads a college vocal dept & is on boards of choral orgs. He’s very full of himself, a family man yet a “dandy” appearance, & controlling personality. A prima donna tenor.

Here’s what’s different about Sergio & also in comparison to other opera singers I know. Unless they tour constantly internationally, they tend to teach at college level and be embedded in a music dept. Also would have private studios. With his abilities, it is odd he doesn’t teach even in a community college but is a dental hygiene asst.

After 911 calls, I’m in the H door. I hope she’s found soon.
motivation extends not only to nuclear family finances but to parents who live up the street one of whom apparently needs a caregiver due to stroke. Sergio felt a lot of responsibility for two families imo.

  18. Ode says:

We have heard that both parents had polys but no results or how many they have had. Becky could have been coming to the awareness that her husband had more to do with Isabel’s disappearance. If she took a second poly I wonder if her suspicions would start to show. She may not know exactly what happened and her husband is staying mum. She may have shared her growing concerns to LE and thus the separation last Friday. If you were innocent and felt your husband was innocent I can not think of a worse time to be separated from him or to have your children separated from him.

  19. Penladu says:

I wonder if it could be possible that the voices heard by the neighbor were not outside at all but actually came from inside Isa’s bedroom after the window was opened and the screen removed.

  20. Allison says:

Sergio doesn’t sound like a man who just discovered his daughter missing from her room. He sounds like a well rehearsed robot. He has the emotion of a father ordering a pizza. He laughs at telling his wife to get her “butt” home and at the idea of “even watching the diamond backs.” Both giggles sound like a nervous “I’m lying” giggle. I’m scared hurt/killed Isabel, put her in the trunk of the disabled car, waited for Becky to leave, called in reinforcements (maybe Uncle Justin &/or Friends) to transfer Isabel to another car to get rid of her (The voices at 6:30), Knocked out the screen, Woke the boys, fake searched for Isabel, called Becky to tell her Isabel was gone, called 911 with a rehearsed report of what happened. He is lying! Where is Isabel, Sergio!? If I we’re Becky I’d be have a major discussion with Sergio. He knows exactly what happened to Isabel. Maybe he cares enough about his family to fess up and finally tell the truth. It’s not worth hurting his wife and son by continuing to keep what he did a secret.

You are assuming she has not had a chat with Sergio. If there is a secret, she knows it, and there is no doubt for me so does LE.

  21. Kris says:

Ok, so here’s a “what if.” What if SC and RS had been having marital issues for a while (maybe involving physical abuse) and RS wanted out but was afraid. He may have told her he wouldn’t let her go and that he’d definitely never let her have the kids. RS may have planned for some of her relatives to be waiting outside Isabel’s window. Before leaving for work, she could have pushed the window out and handed sleepy Isa to male relatives (heard talking in the alley.) RS leaves for work through the front door. Sergio’s demeanor with 911 might have been an indication that he didn’t really believe that a stranger abducted Isabel….that he suspected all along that RS would try to take her and run, and maybe that’s why he said “Get your butt home”…..believing that she had some explaining to do.

If it is a hoax, either parent could be behind it for either noble (but misguided) OR nefarious reasons. Desperate moms sometimes do desperate things to get their children to safety. Although, with RS being a nurse, I would imagine she’d be well aware of legitimate resources to help her and the children flee an abusive marriage. And her fear did seem sincere on the 911 tape. Grrr….I don’t know; I’m really just speculating….thinking out loud.

  22. Kris says:

Oop, I’ve been writing RS when I meant RC.

  29. KittyMom says:

I thought I heard SC say she had been wearing a pink tank top and blue shorts.

Correct, I did as well, but how do we know that the old navy top was not also a pink tank top? In other words, since I buy most of the clothes and do their laundry, I could see Mr. Blink not knowing what the print said on a shirt but remember a color/style.

  31. Word Girl says:

    Rose,
I agree with your info about singers. If they’re really good and want/are committed to a career, they don’t have a day job outside of singing.

As for effeminate, I once objected to my stunning daughter (who now has a university voice studio) when she was going out with five boys one night.
“But Mom, it’s four tenors and a bass!”

  32. Bridget says:

The first thing I thought of when I saw that car in the back alley was that it was a pretty convenient place for a drug pick up/drop off. Could Sergio be a mule?
The morning of the abduction is just odd. The neighbor hears males outside her window at 6:30am which was probably right *after* Becky left for work. Only the immediate family/Dad would know that she left to go to work at that time and day. Most nurses work rotating 12 hour shifts. The Uncle was at the neighbors around 8:00am with an officer which means he may have gotten a call from the Dad before he called the police?? Or he was already there. He never mentions the Uncle being there or looking for her too, just he and his son’s? He said he went in to wake up Isabel and noticed she was gone but didn’t notice a window being wide open and the screen gone? The son noticed the window and that the screen was outside? I wonder if the Dad told the son to specifically look outside so he would see the screen. The Celis’s dogs barking, probably reacting to the neighbor’s dog barking at the strange voices outside.
I also agree with you Blink that the Mom had no idea where her daughter was that morning, but now, I also think she knows. I think she was distraught and *someone* let her in on where her daughter is so she wouldn’t worry. Sounds like Dad was the last one to go to bed that night if he was watching a Diamondbacks game. I think whatever happened, happened right after the family fell asleep. Just my opinion.
Now we have the boys having no contact with their father 3 weeks after the disappearance? Is 3 weeks a good amount of time to say the police have examined their evidence they collected and received any tests back? I think the parents were presented with some kind of evidence that didn’t jive with their/his stories and the father didn’t have a choice but to leave. Think of the Josh Powell situation. The police are trying to protect the boys.
Anytime now they should be lawyering up if they haven’t already. I think the police are putting the pressure on pretty heavy right now.

  33. Allison says:

Listening to Becky’s call, at that particular moment, she sounds like a mother in pure panic mode. In my opinion, she was not acting; she was reacting to a mother’s biggest nightmare. As a wife, I’m sure she doesn’t want to believe the father of her children, the man she married, could hurt their child. She was in denial. 1st stage of loss is denial and isolation, followed by anger. Maybe now, voluntarily agreeing to deny her husband access to of her sons, means she is finally moving out of denial. She is finally realizing that what Sergio is saying and his actions aren’t right. She may(??) now realize Sergio could be a monster. But I don’t think she was “in the know” at the time Isabel disappeared.

  34. Courtnog says:

Just a thought. My husband is a social worker now working for CPS. Something he mentioned once is that many times if someone is on certain anti-depressants and other medications, it makes them come off as “flat” or “emotionless.” Maybe SC is taking medication and/or some other substance that causes this kind of reaction.

  35. wpg says:

  36. Moonchime says:

I don’t give Sergio Celis any leeway concerning Statement Analysis. My daughter and Sergio Celis went to the same HS in Tucson together. Only back then, he went by his middle name David Celis. They graduated over twenty years ago. Sergio David knows the English language quite well.

Both my daughter and I believe that Becky is/was an abused woman at the hands of her husband.

  37. KittyMom says:

    B

So, you’re thinking ‘old navy’ is describing the brand? I was thinking mom meant and older, navy colored shirt…like it might be a bit faded. Dad didn’t mention anything about a flag on the shirt or any type of decoration for that matter.

When my kids were younger, we used to buy our whole family matching old navy flag shirts for every 4th of July. That is what I am envisioning.

Jr was a ways from his home, unknown man likely asked him if 911 had been called, Jr said no or I don’t know . . . the man being the responsible adult in the situation initiated the 912 call.

The man had to ask Jr for his address for the operator.

Same man drove Jr home, with Jr giving the man directions where to stop.

It is possible that mom and dad were both correct. The above link is to Old Navy for a pink tank top that has an American flag on it.

    **************

And in the brother’s 911 when asked what his sister was wearing he says something like *I don’t know….pajamas…probably green or pink*. Sounds to me like little Isa did usually put on her jamies before bed, so why not that night? Did someone know she was going somewhere else that night? Still wondering if this is a custody issue.

OTOH, I suppose it could be because, according to Sergio’s tape, they got home late showered and in other reports that Becky braided Isa’s hair (probably to keep it out of her eyes during the morning baseball game), then maybe Becky went ahead and had her dressed in what she would be playing ball in so they could let her sleep in the next morning because she was going to bed so late. So, does Isa’s little league team wear uniforms or would she have been playing in those little blue shorts and old navy tank top?

  43. wpg says:

    Blink,

From my previous comment on previous thread

“* different dispatcher’s voice is reporting:

“The missing child from 5602 East 12th, last seen yesterday at 2200 hours, Isabel Celis number one female, 4 foot, brown hair, hazel eyes, born 2005. Had her hair in braids, last seen wearing a pink tank top and navy shorts.

You are referring to the dispatcher, not the 911 intake ladies, of which they were 2 different women, right.

I don’t think we know where the update came from per se, I just listened again. When Sergio Jr answers he is quick and I could see how it may have been heard as a navy top, but that is not what he said. I do remember that description being released early though.

    B

” For the 1-6, could you update the description? It’s actually a navy blue tank top with Old Navy writing and navy blue basketball short.

Sounds to me like Sergio Jr. was out searching the neighborhood and a neighbor must have asked him if they’d called 911 yet. His answer must have been no, so the neighbor called for him and handed him the phone. In the meantime, it sounds as if Sergio was making the 911 call right about the same time, as his dispatcher says I think your son just called. Meanwhile neighbor drives Sergio Jr. back up to the house and he hands his phone (or his neighbor’s) to his mom, Becky, who has apparently just arrived home. Do we have a time stamp on these calls?

I have not seen a confirmed timestamp, no.

The other thing I wanted to put out there- has anyone ever heard eyes referred to as clear when asked the color?

  48. wpg says:

I listened to the 911 calls again.

Unless it has been redacted by LE, the 911 operator who spoke to Jr and Rebecca did not ask what color Isa’s shirt was.

Did the dispatcher erroneously update the description to a navy blue shirt with Old Navy writing on it or what, then?

She asks what she was last wearing, which prompts Jr to want to go back to the house and ask Dad, when he gets there, Mom has arrived and he asks her and I think his response was what prompted the update, I had to listen to it twice myself.

  49. wpg says:
