Kyron Horman Missing Case Breaking News: Remains Believed To Be Human Located Off Sauvie Island

Sauvie Island, Oregon-There are unconfirmed reports that a teenage boy fishing off of Sauvie Island located a human skull, and potentially other human body parts.

Update 1:  As referenced on KOIN,  a teenage fisherman believes he snagged a scalp with human hair attached, which he originally thought was horse hair.  Columbia County detectives cordoned off the scene last evening and MCSO dive teams entered the water but found nothing.  The possible “hair” was sent for testing.

Multnomah County Sheriff Office will not comment on the find, or confirm  whether their office has facilitated the removal of same, or forwarded any items to the medical examiner for testing.

Following the disappearance of Kyron Horman,  Sauvie Island has been the subject of repeated searchers for the missing Skyline second grader with no results.

It is also the former home of a man considered to be  Federal fugitive following a confrontation with a Lincoln City officer with nearly fatal results.  Officer Steven Dodds was able to return to duty after extensive rehabilitation.

Durham was a Sauvie Island resident for over 6 years and a volunteer fire fighter until he was removed from duty 6 months prior to the shooting.

David Durham’s dog was recovered injured following what appeared to be an accident in the suspects vehicle  and is being cared for by a friend of the family.  Mr. Durham has not been seen since his vehicle was recovered in the bay town of Waldport, Oregon.

I haven’t seen this posted but could have missed it while going back and forth between the 2 threads:

    http://www.pps.k12.or.us/schools/skyline/files/school-skyline/5_31_12.pdf

See “Remembering Kyron” in Skyline School’s newsletter. Today is Portland’s last school day.

I don’t know whether whatever was found in the river was related to this case in any way, however, I did realize something about my own thinking after reading the stories. I thought I was keeping an open mind about whether Kyron could still be alive and held somewhere, but, right or wrong, I’m not. I believe he is gone.

I’m glad the updated picture was done and is out in the news now, but when I look at it, it doesn’t seem real. Yes, I know it is NOT real, but I mean “real” in the sense of the feeling you get when you look at other updated pictures or police sketches. Part of that is because I don’t think he’s with us, but part is also because if he were, I doubt he’d have the happy expression (although we could hope).

It seems a bit strange to have an updated picture along with the original height and weight. Developmentally, they could make a good guess what his current height and weight would be.

I’ve heard of kidnapped or adopted people recognizing themselves in pictures, but I wonder what kind of results there are with the general public in recognizing and finding children using the updated pictures. I don’t mean to be disrespectful at all, but I think I’d have more luck recognizing DAD from an updated picture as an old man with a beard on a tropical island. I’m just not very good with the picture thing.

Well, I googled how long hair lasts in water. Not sure why, just frustrated not to be able to do anything useful. Came across a blog for plumbers. This question and best answer are intended for Blink and anyone else with hair in the drain.

    http://www.plbg.com/forum/read.php?1,467886
    (snipped)
“When I pulled out the drophead, it had hair in it which I took off and showed to the customers. They both thought that the hair was not theirs and perhaps the hair was from the previous owners of the house.

“They have been living in the house for about four years. The hair I pulled out was not too rotted. Is it possible for hair to have survived in reasonably good condition for over four years?”

    answer:

“What your customer needed was a Forensic Licensed Plumber. The hair could be tested for DNA and determined if it was the present owners, past owners or….. guests. Besides the hair, you have soap grease, cleaners, dyes and conditioners that can coat the hair and preserve it.

“Barber Shops and Beauty Shops, used a product called “Thrift” to dissolve human hair with hot water. It works well when the directions are read several times and
    “followed.””

So – to continue on – I decided to google whether there IS such a thing as a “forensic licensed plumber” and came up with “yes” and the following:

    The Plugged Toilet
Forensic Plumbing? Usually it’s a dull subject, but not necessarily a dry one. A lot of plumbing cases involve leaks. One very wet case involved a plumbing company that was called to unstop a toilet in a high-rise building, and was being sued for flooding the bottom three floors of the 10-story building. An investigation of the building revealed the following: The plumber removed a back outlet bowl from its carrier on the sixth floor. Finding no apparent blockage, he ran a cable through the carrier, the 4-inch horizontal waste, and down into a 6-inch screwed wrought iron riser. Then it got stuck. He apparently assumed the cable had traveled down the pipe for whatever length he had uncoiled. Actually, it was found that the cable had turned around on itself inside a tucker fitting. The tucker fitting had been used to cut into the 6-inch stack at the fifth floor to install a new toilet room. After it turned around, the cable went up the stack and wrapped around itself at the sixth level. The plumber must have been looking for the cable on the fourth floor, got frustrated, and attempted to cut the 6-inch riser with a portable electric band saw. Then his band saw blade jammed. The blade was still stuck in the pipe. There was a come-along still attached to the pipe just above the cut. The other end of the come-along was attached to an old 2-inch galvanized cold water header in the pipe chase above. It had bent a little, and then it broke.

This started out to be a sewer job, so the plumber hadn’t shut any water valves. He summoned the building manager, and informed him that “something” had broken. In the time it took them to find the valves, the three lower floors had standing water. The plumber, I was told, called his boss, left the buildings; and never came back.

Yes, there is a product called “Thrift”, but I’ve never used it. I think I am totally overloaded with useless information now. Should have gone with the Twizzler.

  10. hervness says:

So this was bugging me last night. I convinced Mr. Hervness to put on some hip waders and help me out . . . I collected some hair from my hair brush, loaded up a rod and reel, Mr. Hervness and his hip waders, and went out to the creek near our house. This in no way a scientific experiment, rather just a confirmation that there is NO WAY it was just 10 strands of hair.
I had the Mr. go into the creek and “snag” the line on something. (We just used an average weight line and a simple lure). I then had him place the hair (approximately 10 strands on the line, my hair is a light brown, dark blond, approximately 6 inches long, underneath the water). I then pulled the line, tried to reel it in . . . bascially worked disengaging the line and reeling it in. Bear in mind, the creek is much slower moving than the river in question. Ok, so we tried this approximately 10 times (I had A LOT of hair on my brush). 7 of the 10 times, the hair was lost. Completely lost. The other 3, it was almost impossible to see on the line. I’m just saying, anecdotally speaking, NO WAY. Mr. Hervness *may* also think I’m a little crazy.

Okay, I’ve had something rattling around in my brain for days and I need to get it out of there!
A long time ago I used to check in at The Hinky Meter on Kyron’s case to see what folks were saying. At one point Valhall shared a long “Blog Post” that had been sent to her from a reader. This “blog post” had been written by someone using the handle “Red Squirrel” and in the post she had said how much she hated her stepson, wished he would die, etc. I believe it was posted on some step parent blog site, not sure where and I can’t find it now that the Hinky Meter has closed shop. Valhall had speculated that perhaps the Red Squirrel poster was TH talking about Kyron.
I am just wondering, were it TH that wrote it, well that would certainly be an item that would cause DY to say TH had an extreme hatred for Kyron. And I think LE would have been able to trace the poster’s url address, although I may be wrong about that. IDK if we talked about it here or not, does anyone else remember this?

So, as pictured DAD doesn’t match the description of SZ. However, Blink has seen pictures of DAD and indicated that she could mistake him for TH in a “hot minute”. I’m not sure what a “hot minute” is, but has DAD been known to dress as a woman or wear various other disguises besides his camouflage attire? Are there some “hot” pictures of DAD floating around somewhere? Or is it simply the long red hair and fair complexion? I personally think TH has a “softer” look to her, but undoubtedly the long red hair, general local and bizzare behavior is curious.

How long does it typically take to analyze 10 strands of hair (give or take a few more plus scalp and/or other remains) for DNA? Will this likely be resolved before Houze responds regarding the Civil Case?

Required or not, I can’t help my “over thinking”. The new thread offers encouragement.

JMO, I figure LE would have been able to verify such a thing long ago, but they sure do look alike. Would LE tell us? Could it be what Staton says would “surprise” us in this case? IDK, but although it would be surprising, I would think it would have already been exposed by now. Again, JMO, but I’m getting the feeling that Blink is telling us that DAD does not, NOT MATCH SZ’s description, but neither does TH, and perhaps a million other people who may look like them???

there are at least 2 male adults in the school who are no

Tears flow on witness stand in Roseburg murder trial

    (snipped)

They didn’t just question him about his changing stories, Fine said, “they flat-out accused him” of committing the homicide. She said that once he’d admitted to the assault he always maintained he hadn’t meant to kill Sahara, he only meant to sexually assault her.

“He did so intentionally, impulsively with absolutely no forethought or regard for the consequences as it pertained to Sahara and as it pertained to himself,” Fine said.

She said the defendant suffers from Asperger’s syndrome and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, which contribute to his lack of impulse control, mood swings, and difficulty relating to others. Although he takes medication for these conditions, Fine said he failed to bring them with him on his visit to Oregon.

The defense admits Wallace committed the assault on Sahara, though Fine said the killing was unintentional and thus Wallace is not guilty of aggravated murder but of a lesser crime.

I want to be clear because I intimate here and there, about the fact I believe this case is part of a bigger issue, but I have not disclosed why, who and/or where. Not ripe.

But it will be. I am not saying this because of any other reason then at the end of the day, victimization of children is my absolute recurring nightmare, because it is so effing preventable, if we, as a society know the facts and cycles.

There are legacy facts and cycles of this time, of this era, and they tie to other pedo incidents of the “the day”, of that I am certain.

The history, the grooming techniques, lures, and practices of advanced networking pedos are in desperate need of exposure. It is my goal, with your help, to get there.

This case does not yet know it’s landmark, but it will.

    *****************************
I wish Blink could expand on this. Maybe in the update.

So all, what are some of your ideas of what would make this case a “landmark” case? Kyron’s not the only child to ever have disappeared from a school. Kyron’s not the only child allegedly hated or done in by his stepmom. Kyron’s not the only child to have been removed from a parent by another spouse. Landmark, because of $$$ spent? I don’t think so, Blink would have said it already is a landmark case, so what could it be? Is it because the civil proceedings will proceed the criminal?

The problem with expanding is that it is a science in itself, and limiting it to my level of study or experience through my work is limiting the dialogue. Sadly, there are many different profiles, cycles and escalations.

I noticed today Donald Mengel, Kaine’s and Kristian’s grandpa (one of 3) died in 1998, so he was available to be part of a cycle if it wasnt Melvin or Kris” Dad.

I also noticed Kris’ pic in one of the two 1987 Wash Guard newsletters (also an ’84 pdf on line with an article on r neil horman) has a pic remarkably looking like Terri at that age as well as Kristian’s Stephanie (but for hair color).

you know TRuth, the CFO of Intel refused to move to CA and he commuted,
now he’s recently the CEO. He’s built & expanded Intel in Oregon.

The power structure the City fathers–Mayor & Commissioners–and State fathers–Gov’r
& legislators, as well ad any OR LE or DA, is least likely to
investigate or confront is one associated with an Intel employee like Dean. He must’ve
been arrested before they knew his employer.
    Think Corbett.
