Kyron Horman Missing Case Breaking News: Remains Believed To Be Human Located Off Sauvie Island

Sauvie Island, Oregon-There are unconfirmed reports that a teenage boy fishing off of Sauvie Island located a human skull, and potentially other human body parts.

Update 1:  As referenced on KOIN,  a teenage fisherman believes he snagged a scalp with human hair attached, which he originally thought was horse hair.  Columbia County detectives cordoned off the scene last evening and MCSO dive teams entered the water but found nothing.  The possible “hair” was sent for testing.

Multnomah County Sheriff Office will not comment on the find, or confirm  whether their office has facilitated the removal of same, or forwarded any items to the medical examiner for testing.

Following the disappearance of Kyron Horman,  Sauvie Island has been the subject of repeated searchers for the missing Skyline second grader with no results.

It is also the former home of a man considered to be  Federal fugitive following a confrontation with a Lincoln City officer with nearly fatal results.  Officer Steven Dodds was able to return to duty after extensive rehabilitation.

Durham was a Sauvie Island resident for over 6 years and a volunteer fire fighter until he was removed from duty 6 months prior to the shooting.

David Durham’s dog was recovered injured following what appeared to be an accident in the suspects vehicle  and is being cared for by a friend of the family.  Mr. Durham has not been seen since his vehicle was recovered in the bay town of Waldport, Oregon.

Totally agree with you, T. Ruth. We need a new team of investigators or one really good “cold case” cop to look at all this – unless LE knows exactly who the perp(s) is/are and are waiting/watching for more pieces to fall into place. This “waiting” during investigations happens far more often than most people realize. During these waiting periods LE can be quite good at keeping their mouths shut to protect their case. On the other hand, as we all know, cases can and do go “cold.” I just pray this is not the case for our dear Kyron.

    Someone knows this creep:

“This week, the HSI Child Exploitation Investigations Unit’s Victim Identification Program obtained a “Jane Doe” arrest warrant in the District Court for the District of Columbia for the suspect. The unit believes that Jane Doe has produced child pornography videos featuring herself and an unidentified adult male engaging in sexual contact with two minor victims, one 5 to 7 years old and the other 3 to 5 years old.

Jane Doe, pictured right, is described by HSI special agents with the agency’s Victim Identification Program as a Caucasian female, 25 to 35 years old, with a medium build, dark brown hair and blue eyes. She has a large mole on the back of her left thigh (pictured above). Although her whereabouts are unknown, special agents investigating this case believe she lives somewhere in the United States.”

The utility of looking in on “Roseburg Supports” FB recently was to see links to Court filings and news before even kgw published. In fact recently one post said watch for a kgw story tonite.
The utility of “thsg a …” FB which probably had only 2 posters was the opposite – link to Houze Court filings.
Utility of “Missing Kyron” was to get Kaine’s news when he had it.
So there was some utility, ignoring the rest.

However now my head is sprinning because I’ve just noticed two sites, one claiming to be opinion free, are acting in concert imo.
The Missing Kyron FB (Jude admin) posted recently, we’re just here for facts, and here’s the petition.

But, just now I saw their Admin having the “Missing Kyron Horman” handle posted 4 hours ago (my time) a paragraph whose wording is exactly the same as a paragraph also posted exactly 4 hours ago with the exact same language by on the Roseberg site by an Admin there with the handle “Roseberg Supports Kyron Horman.”
The 2 websites’ duplicate language (and times) begins
“With a continual influx of supporters gathering for Kyron on this page,…”

imo these 2 sites are making common postings.
The time and date of hearing is being emphasized, I infer for a purpose.

  9. T. Ruth says:

JMO, but I think the *family* did not go searching for Kyron, because LE asked them not to do so. Firstly, they probably told them to back to the house in case it was a kidnapping and wait for some sort of contact. Secondly, later in the case, when all the SI searches were going on, I think it became a matter of of “Authorities have not ruled out any suspects and no one has been cleared in the case, including Kyron’s family members.” (http://www.examiner.com/article/kyron-horman-update-search-for-missing-7-year-old-includes-billboards-donated-by-clear-channel)

If one of the family had done something to Kyron, LE certainly didn’t want them *discovering* and then tampering with some evidence. That being said, now that it is obviously a cold case, I’d be doing something, like hiring a PI.

January, my guess is that if the truck has tinted windows the witnesses could not get a good description of the second person in the truck and LE needs that description to piece together what happened that morning.

He said investigators were focusing on *selective* targets in the case that would help “support a conclusion.” Investigators need to close off possibly dead end tips in the case Staton labeled “frivolous.”

    ***************
JMO, but right there, I think Staton is referring to TMH as a “selective target”, as well as someone who would have assisted her, thus the word target(s) as opposed to target. The word “selective” is telling. The rest of the sentence “to help support a conclusion”, right there, I think Staton actually was saying this:

We have a theory as to what took place, we think Terri may have done something to Kyron, but we know she had to have help in order for it to fit the scenario we’ve come up with, so we are looking for the perfect “target” (i.e. person) that could have assisted her in completing this outrageously brilliant crime.

JMO, but I think someone needs to go back to the “dead end” and “frivolous tips” and take another look. Maybe the key lies in PPS records? IDK, but I agree with Rosenthal this case is becoming colder and colder.

    ***************

So I guess the question here is what would make a description “invalid”?

My guess is two witnesses, each saying something entirely different?
For instance, witness A says it was a dark skinned man with long brown hair. Witness B says it was a woman with short blonde hair. No other witness comes forward as to seeing anyone else in the truck and then you’re left with that, conflicting stories. Heck, maybe the eye witnesses even had the wrong truck? Maybe it was someone else’s white pick up they were looking at. If these witnesses were children, then I think that’s a huge possibility, but who knows?

I think it was MbS who said something a while back about LE trying to be *coy* when they shouldn’t have been and people got confused. I agree. If this civil case is abated, I truly believe LE’s next best move is to provide the public with a little more information, before the public forgets everything but the rumors.

I am probably the only person in this world who understands what you were feeling…the frustrations. I know what things were like for you because I was married to Kaine once as well. ——————————

Maybe the key is the “good reason why”. If someone was with her, and she said so, she would also be asked who and why. If Dede was with her, then Dede would have to explain why she left work that time of day without telling anyone – which she says she didn’t do, of course. If someone wanted to frame her, they certainly didn’t do a good job of it or she would have been arrested by now. Maybe threaten, but why do it where you could be seen by parents coming and going and would have had to have a vehicle of your own handy – would have likely been someone who also had a reason to be there if that’s the case.

A lot of people must know if the pickup had dark, tinted windows or maybe there are old pictures which would show that. If LE found evidence someone else may have been in the truck, they wouldn’t have told us anyway, most likely.

The entire morning timeline seems out of sync to me – probably because we have such incomplete information.

I don’t know if the phones were to plot or not, but I would never the less like for TMH to talk. If she is innocent or guilty, either way I want this woman to say SOMETHING. It is all too bizarre. I get protecting your 5th amendment rights and all that, but I can’t help but feel that in itself indicates she has something to hide. I just want some movement in Kyron’s case. Even if it meant clearing TMH and moving on. It is hard to clear her given the circumstances, IMO.

Desiree has left the lawsuit open to include anyone involved in Kyron’s disappearance, so I suppose she could decide to add those women if it becomes apparent they did in fact help.

This is a link to the picture thread for Kyron Horman at Scared Monkeys. Scroll down to see the image of the Horman truck. It looks as if the windows are tinted. On a cloudy morning it would be easy to see the silhouette of a person in the truck without being able to make out distinguishing details of that person except maybe an approximate height and shape of their hair. Any description given might be invalid due to lack of detail.

Having gone to see two more simultaneous postings of the apparent same Admin on Missing and Roseberg,
I saw more pics of Mrs Young and Sister. From the (sympathy-demanding) pics of the two, I’ve concluded
it is possible much of the post-abduction decisions of Mrs Young and also of the past (from the pregnancy to the suit) is about those two ladies’ relationship rather than it being about Desiree and Kaine or Desiree and Terri, as I had thought.

I don’t know which public the petition will represent. Are addresses required on this petition? A co-Admin of the major
petition driver is from New Zealand. Many site subscribers are overseas. The petition was update to disclaim involvement by Desiree and lawyer, misspelling “merely.” Since Desiree’s sister repeatedly pleas for signatures, is the fundraising agent, and is driving with her to Portland tonight, how can that be said by anyone with a straight face?
I find the suit tawdry and believe it a counterproductive means to locate Kyron

After being reminded in recent OLive comments
of Kyron’s mcso’s detective ‘s history, along with Mr Shrunk’s, it came to me if SZ is,as is profiled, a computer expert, he probably had the mind to use that computer to plan a highly detail oriented abduction with a favorable outcome.
ie, Decision point 1: Which investigative body’s jurisdiction?
Articles like the one above make mcso’s a slam dunk for both ineptitude & ethics imo.
Decision 2: What elementary school?  (a school likely fit the crime execution “charge” he sought) Easy to shop that online within mcso’s jurosdiction.
And all those tender young look -alike boys with glasses on the school website, diagrams, sci fair details, etc).  Or maybe he dated someone in the area and attended Skyline’s auction or other events.
Decision 3: Who?  This may or may not have been predecided, but with a planner this meticulous & detail oriented, I believe Kyron was among several pre-selected, allowing for an on the spot opportunity to cull out.  Easy to id Hormans and others on line, to establish a stepmother or stepfather to confuse the investigation.  If he dated someone in the area, maybe he accessed the school directory. This theory doesn’t rule out a Terri-hired professional; I just don’t think she could afford an elite.  Planning like this is above the pay grade of the Sanchez family imo.

  26. sunshine_4me says:

If the disposable phones were purchased prior to any hint of the MFH accusation or pointing any fingers toward TH, why would they feel that they needed them? I would think someone innocent would want to be transparent, nothing to hide. Of course if TH was having an affair and she thought KY’s disappearance could have been some type of retribution for it or for ending it, again, why hide? This is a missing child which is more important than some housewife’s reputation.

I feel bad for DY, and not just for the obvious reasons. I admire her for at least trying to do something even though many may not agree with the avenue she has chosen. She is the only one at this point trying to do something; its quiet everywhere else.

So has DY lost her chance to sue PPS, was there a 2 year limit on filiing such charges? It seems days after DY’s filing against TH, there was some debate if 2 years was the cut off or if there wasnt a time limit. I find it hard to believe if DY has a ‘good’ lawyer that the lawyer wouldn’t have advised her to include PPS. There has to be more there than we know.

I pray for DY and Kyron today especially, may something come from DY’s efforts to find her son.

    http://www.oregonlive.com/pacific-northwest-news/index.ssf/2012/08/sex_abuse_allegation_stuns_woo.html

Members of St. Luke Catholic Church, whose congregation has burgeoned during the Rev. Angel Armando Perez’s four years of leadership, recited the Lord’s Prayer in Spanish at the Marion County courthouse where he briefly appeared on an allegation of child sex abuse. They rejected the idea that the man who wasn’t afraid to discuss and admonish priest sex abuse was himself an offender.

“He would preach about it a lot,” said 17-year-old Jacqueline Granados, a former choir member and altar server at the church.

Granados and her friend Jennifer Ortega, 17, were among 50 supporters who packed the courtroom to lend support.

“He’s the most respectful man I know,” said Ortega, who, like Granados, is a lifetime member of the congregation housed in a grand brick church on Harrison Street.

How many unsolved missing person’s cases are there? In many of these the suspect is known but the evidence does not rise to conviction in a criminal court or LE has simply not done an exemplary job so justice is never meted. Why not allow these cases to go civil if a family or individual has been wronged by the actions of another? Everyone has the right to be heard and the right to remain silent should not prevent a harmed party from being heard. The defendant can still remain silent while the evidence is presented. It’s factual evidence so what’s the harm?

Desiree’s child was taken and God knows what done with him. She has my sympathy fully and freely.

    Just a refresher:

    http://www.katu.com/news/local/100161574.html

A friend of Terri Horman said the secret phones were intended to provide some level of privacy with their conversations, which they felt were being monitored by law enforcement. She said they also wanted to use phones with numbers not known to the press.

The phones were purchased **after** Kyron’s father, Kaine Horman, moved out of the family’s home.

The friend, who is not DeDe Spicher, went to the Lloyd Center and bought a prepaid cell phone at an electronic store. The friend now says she regrets using a fake name and that it was “stupid” and “spur of the moment.”

She said the phone she bought was for herself to use and not for Terri Horman.

She insists the three of them – DeDe, Terri and her – only got the phones because the **new AT&T service** would allow them to make calls out of the Horman home at Shelter Nook Road. The home is in a remote area that **does not receive Verizon service, which is what the friends had**.

“There is no case like this — even close to these circumstances,” Kantor said.

Kantor, though, said he would issue a formal written ruling that could include some “partial relief” or protections for the defendant.

Judge Kantor said he had asked the Multnomah Count district attorney’s office if it wanted to participate in Wednesday’s proceeding, and officials there said they would take no position.

According to Bunch, a grand jury continues to meet and the criminal investigation is proceeding. He said in court there have been interviews conducted in California and Oregon.

“I appreciate that Ms. Young is frustrated with police, but they’re still out there doing their job,” Bunch said. “This is an active, ongoing investigation with a laser pointed at my client. Let the police and grand jury do their job.”

This whole situation is just fascinating, legally, I mean. Wow, I wish Lea would weigh in here.

I wasn’t aware the GJ was still meeting.

Lea is a family attorney, she is going to be comfortable discussing those aspects, not sure her caseload will allow but we know she does her best when she can.

    my prediction:
focus will be off LE to move forward on finding Kyron and the abductor during this and the divorce litigation–say for a couple years counting appeals. Goodbye to any hope of public pressure on LE. The public will be whipped into a frenzy on Terri. Goodbye to any hope of a transfer of investigation to FBI or to the PPB Cold Case team. Same ‘ol detective in charge, just waiting with Shrunk et al
(or whoever the decisionmaker is now) for the 2 civil cases to finish.
Better to have spent $100,000 on a fine ex FBI PI early on.
Personally, my opinion is these 3 ring Courtrooms reflect one or more BPDs in the mix.
Good luck to Mrs Young in assuaging her loss.
Terri will have to take the 5th to each & every question and cannot defend herself as she is the criminal POI.
I expect this to be overturned on appeal.

@Amy’s Sister. Yes, I agree. But as the mother, I would get a cause of action I could damn well prove.
Therefore, personally I’d have sued PPS for negligence and brought Terri in as a witness to develop my facts against her that way for Underhill, not as the plaintiff in Chief. Tawdry to me because imo it’s a clearly vindictive suit and some juror will absolutely see it that way due to 1) their history (Desiree has statements in print), 2) the size of the damages asked, 3) the omission of other plaintiffs such as PPS. Desiree could and should have structed this suit differently. Imo Rosenthal is doing what he was hired for, using his Morris Dees training.

It will be interesting to hear Kaines’s reaction to this. I wonder if he will be called to testfy. It would seem he would hae a lot to contribute about the time leading up to and after Kyron went missing. Also, can LE be called? Would they be asked by Desiree’s attorney what information they have? Hopefully, reporters will find this turn of events worthy. Of continual coverage.

    @TRuth and @Idaho,
I agree with the intrigue about California. The CA connection might either come from Intel, or from TH’s past, or of course, something we haven’t been made aware of yet.
