@WordGirl, Is this the incident you were looking for?

One night after a football game, Triponey said Spanier and Curley came to her house because Paterno told Spanier that he had to make a choice between his vice president of student affairs and his football coach. According to Triponey, Spanier said that if he ever had to make that decision, he would side with his vice president.

In 2007, not long after the tumultuous case over the brawl involving the football players, Spanier made his choice. Triponey was forced to resign.

@Rose, Heim’s sons are John and Ben. They are in business in Keystone and Tricore, that I know of, and none of that financial info is public. He is also involved in Hospitality Asset Management which dovetails into Lance Shaner’s business. I also find it interesting that two of the PSU Hospitality Instructors are the phaantom students interviewed during the Paterno Fired Riots, one named Hiem, as I previously posted.

As for political donations, here’s one:

    Bruce Heim, Director
Chairman, Keystone Real Estate Group, LP
    2009-2010 cycle: $1,000
    Other years: $2,500
    Total: $3,500
[Note: Three other current or former Keystone employees—Al Pringle, Michael Trombley, and Ben Heim—are both Corbett donors and current or former members of the charity's boards. Their donations are listed below.]

I have not been on this thread for a while. Thanks for the link about Sherman Lutz. This was a trip down memory lane and is a typical story of those early pioneers in aviation. It appears that Mr. Lutz never owned a Piper but he did own a Waco. The Waco was a four passenger aircraft with a fancy interior more like an automobile than airplanes of the day.

All of those early airplanes were known as “tail dragers” with a wheel or skid at the tail. Today, with all the tricycle gear, one has to get special training and certificate for flying those old tail dragers. Anyway the story is familiar. I washed airplanes and helped with repairs as a teen in order to get a ride and sometimes get my hands on the controls. The piper cubs and Aronica airplanes were so light that a twenty-five mile an hour wind could push them around the apron and everyone would be chasing the loose ones to keep them from crashing into each other.

I think all of you working on the historical part of this crime have done a lot to identify potential players in the pedaphile ring. The fact that some of this may have reached other schools as far south as Duke and North Carolina is adding credance to my suspicions.

I believe that there are a lot of school administrators that are homosexuals. These people always find each other and make recommendations for the hiring of their kind into open positions. Male homosexuals are attracted to young boys. They will always do things to make it possible to have sex with them. This is the prime reason that the Boy Scouts cleared them out. The Catholic church and some other churches have not done a good job in this area.

There are pedaphiles who are hetrosexual and are attracted to girls and young teenagers.

Despite what I read in the report by the FBI agent, I don’t agree with his position on pedaphiles not being homosexuals. IMO they are both except for a few.

Flounders: 10 fascinating sports facts revealed in Joe Paterno biography

Fullback Don Abbey (1967-69) said Penn State and Paterno caused him to be a “functioning alcoholic” and criticized Paterno’s management style. Abbey later said that he and Paterno had a “common ground,” that Paterno was a brilliant strategist and outworked everybody. Abbey, the book said, is a billionaire real estate manager in California.

@WordGirl, Thank you so much for including me in reading the tribute to your father, it was moving.

As some of you may recall, I have previously stated that I adopted by the-best-parents-in-the-world, and they had a bio-child after me, as is often the case, my sis. I am going to appear scattered with what I am sharing, but I found this site because of Kyron Horman. His disappearance pulled me in initially because of proximity, then I discovered he looked like my sis’s son at that age. That picture of Kyron in front of the door with the white shirt and slacks still breaks my heart. I have an extra special place in my heart for my niece and nephew as they are the bio-legacy of my parents, complete with looks, mannerisms and identical laughter.

Back to my brilliant Dad, who was in fact a genius, and the point I am think I am trying to dance around. During the depression he was left, with his siblings, in a Catholic orphanage, by his divorcing (yet wealthy) mother. She returned a few years later with a new husband to collect her children (or so the story goes). I never met her, as my Dad signed up for the Army Air Corps at age 16 and went off to war, and never looked back. After the war he finished second in his class at the officer’s academy. Mom said he would have been first, but he was out all night dancing and romancing her, and didn’t get much sleep. They made a beautiful, fun loving couple, caring couple.

He made a career in the service as a meteorologist, and though our one and only fishing trip was a disaster (he loved it, I did not), he gave me the North Star when I was a little girl, “all I had to do was find it and I would never get lost.”

My Dad was a scientist, and not one to believe in God for most of his life, (rest assured that did change) but the star was the his way, his spirituality, I think, at the time. His rejection of religion came from the time he spent in that orphanage, and as I have grown older, and information has been released, well, I think my Dad is why I am really here. It’s deep.

I haven’t thought of the North Star in awhile, but when some of you were “finding dimes” and such, I walked into my laundry room, stooped down to pick something up and when I stood up, WOW, right out the window, between the trees, was the North Star.

@Rose, Two articles re: Art Sandusky. They kind of conflict. I think Jan 1, 1987 is the correct date, IIRC I have read that after retirement (1985) he spent a couple of years living at the Brownson House. I have never read anything specific to them living at Sandusky’s house.

Abbey has supported LE in both of his residences, in CA and in Montana. I’m at wits end with some of these links not posting. All I’m putting up is readily googleable (word?). Saw that Abbey BOUGHT Shelter Island from the state of Montana. And there was some discussion about his intention to develop a subdivision, not wanting to release that info to the public at that time.

That frat house he spent millions to restore at PSU? And selected new china for it and all? The frat, Beta Theta Pi, was disbanded for violations of its national org. Link won’t post. Should be lots of articles around; I got one from the Collegian’s arhives, dated Feb 19, 2009.

Abbey was pissed and put up violations photos on a website, which is no longer accessible apparently. I did find a link with many photos of him being onsite at the restoration. I think they’re from a time he’d flown in after being at Paterno’s Hall of Fame soiree in NY. It won’t link either. You can go to google images, type in his name, and it comes up from betapsu.com Looks like winter of 2007, an email with commentary and photos

Just irresponsible frat guys? Some other reason for trashing the new digs–repeatedly? Maybe they didn’t like the china?

THAT Sam Rappaport (Philly slumlord). He appointed his friend Richard Basciano, as executor of his estate. Basciano is “the multimillionaire real estate investors the New York Times once called “the undisputed king of Times Square porn,” (quoted from link above). Fox Rothschild attys represented Rappaport’s heirs.

Nice crowd. Basciano is also friends with Tony Trombetta, owner of The Forum. I’ll post a snip to show the connection because I know ya’ll don’t want to read the lengthy reminiscense of the age of Porno Chic (Marilyn Chambers and all those folks).

“So, I wondered, what amazing business practices have allowed the Forum to remain open in the age of virtual sex? To find out, I decided to track down the masterminds behind the theater. In my search for the owners, I came across Anthony Trombetta, a 64-year old grandfather who has been involved in the porn business for decades. Trombetta was convicted in 1975 on federal charges of transporting women across state lines for prostitution, and he was named in the Meese Commission’s 1986 report as Philadelphia’s porn kingpin. The report also mentioned alleged ties between a company he operated and the Gambino crime family, once led by John Gotti.”

That’s in an email from Bill Conlin about his compensation from his then-employer. There’s more at the link. I believe that’s the same condo he still owns in Largo, FL.

What I’m wondering is what, if anything, he had to offer JS, TSM, or some of the other interesting folks around there. Maybe he’s just not that connected. Slade McLaughlin can put some of that together. And Blink.

Six of us wound up staying the entire week. The accommodations were first class. Two grandchildren fished their brains out. The Lucky Duck made a memorable weekend and beyond even more memorable.

…witnesses testified had sexual relationships with boys here and abroad dating to 1977, told U.S. District Judge Petrese B. Tucker…

Ward, then professor emeritus at Penn’s business school, was returning from Brazil when U.S. customs agents, doing a routine luggage check, found child pornography on his laptop computer.

My friend and my father died quickly. One at the beginning and on at the end of what we called their Life. Our poet laureate’s father, I don’t know, but I liked how Trethewey knew she should stash up those memories. (I made up a creel for her to put them in, much like the fence for the sheep in Le Petit Prince.)
Thank you for your condolences, dear erose.

Beej–I almost sayed “whut???” to the Jerry-Dottie transcription train. But now I’ve picked up a little of that to which you refer.

When mature people in authority act outrageously and take life from others, I try to remember how precious each day is for me. It’s shocking how fast it can be gone. Even with fair warning.

Dottie lost her correspondence priveleges. How dumb is that. A letter a day can’t be that unusual, unless hers are voluminous and need to be read for code.

What is he going to call it? After the touching?

    Seriously.

WG- it is entirely precious, and I am grateful to be among you folks that see it.. so.

Rose, I appreciate your assessment of Abbey. I’ve worked in those sort of homes (only with more bathrooms) and I found the Shelter home more hospitable, judging solely from the photos. Must admit the celtic cross pool is kind of neat, in the other home.

Lots of ego and an unreal sense of perfection goes along with those sort of residences. Definitely a ‘viva yo’ manifesto. I enjoy reaching for excellence, but you really want me to hold your omelette for five or for 30 minutes? (Since that is impossible I will make a new one every five minutes, okay?)

Living on earth as I do, I find a lot of people who need help more than a rich man needs a mansion. Give us our daily bread.

    ty Precious Blink.

erose–that was a great bio you shared. Very interesting. I’m also happy that the star led you to this side of life. Keep your eyes out.

A very good book is “At the Back of the North Wind” but may be hard to get. Geo MacDonald. That would tie the wind up with the stars.
As if she isn’t already! lol

It’s the loss of a real chance at life that maddens me the most when I try to understand the damage of molestation. Why–just why do they have to do it?

So many other shoes that could drop. While some speculate it’s about Spanier, I just can’t see the entire BOT gathering for his indictment or arrest or “other.” This tweet, if true, and the planned gathering of the BOT could have something to do with the investigation wrt the Clery Act. It is the only shoe I can think of that would affect the entire institution. JMO.

@Word Girl. The island home, for what it represents, is the most tasteful one of its ilk I’ve seen. Representative of the Mclean VA Republican crowd in the price range Santorum was last seen trying to climb into, like Freeh. I’m just surprized he didn’t build at Yellowstone Club with Quayle & Kemp, a Cheney stomping ground too. Or Vail/Aspen. Why a remote fishing island? Nantucket would fit too. Is he part of the old So Calif Rainwater group of guys? (you know, the old Bushie friend & investment enabler, now quite ill)?

Ryan J McCombie is the PSU Trustee (elected this year) who is appealing the NCAA sanctions againt PSU. He is also in business with Bruce Heim at AGS. So, if Heim/Heims were up to anything hinky at TSM, there’s gonna be bad blood if McCombie’s appeal in some way points the finger back at TSM.

IDK the extent, didn’t look, of McCombie’s involvement with TSM other than his appearance at the golf classic fundraisers.

McCombie’s appeal isn’t popular with “some” of the PSU Board, and he’s already publicly acknowledged it.

    When is “midweek”?

Perhaps the BOT just wants to be “around and ready” this weekend; it is move-in weekend for tens of thousands of students, and many of their parents and siblings are also in town.

Actually, Abbey has lowered the price of his Shelter Island, Montana home–a/k/a “Whispering Rock” from an earlier listing. In Sept, 2011 he had it listed for 105 million.

So, I know commercial real estate is supposedly teetering. But is anyone just pondering that OTHER reason he might be needing cash? I think we should. And it wasn’t MY suggestion; I just posted the comment from another site.

So, um, his other home in Calif. Also for sale; has the 2 master suites. Who all lives there? Wifey?

  44. beejay says:

OK, here’s that Sept listing link for the freakin’ island he bought from the state of Montana, in the middle of freakin’ nowhere. You build something like that for your own pleasure, or to just get a lot of privacy–not for resale. Little market for the likes of that in the middle of freakin’ Montana.

Curious about the major event: Clery act violations announced?
Perfect timing with all the parents (ESP frosh) in town.

Keisling did a nice review on the Clery act.

The lap swim distance and the volleyball (we call those ‘play pools’) area.
The shape could not have been accidental for a man with Abbey’s sensibilities.

And no, I can’t understand the fratties tearing up their own home, but they may resent Abbey’s generous heart when their own is so empty.

  46. Word Girl says:

Rose, sorry for the disjointed post. Thx for info; I’m looking into those enclaves you mentioned.
Typing on this tiny screen is a pain! That’s all I’ve got for now–it’s time for Auto/Correct’s map.
