Missing Iowa Girls Lyric and Elizabeth: New Evidence Found, Lake Cleared, Dad Dan Morrissey Is Suspect. Is A Jailbreak Connected?
Evansdale, Iowa- Lyric Morrissey and Elizabeth Collins have been missing from what their Grandmother Wylma Cook described as “within her view from the home” for over one week. Myers Lake, approximately a 27 acre body of water surrounded by a Nature bike trail which yielded the tweens bikes and purse, has been cleared after consultation with the Elite FBI CSI dive team.

On July 12th, the day before the girls disappeared, Daniel Morrissey was due to enter a guilty plea in a pending Federal drug arrest. Instead, he requested the matter be scheduled/reset for trial. In response, prosecutors swiftly requested the court place Morrissey under appropriate pre-trial supervision for his alleged crimes.
On Thursday, prosecutors with the Black Hawk County Attorney’s Office asked a judge to review Morrissey’s release, pointing out that Iowa Code state people charged with conspiracy to manufacture meth being a second offender — one of the charges Morrissey is facing — shall be under supervision as a condition of their release.
Occurring almost simultaneously to Morrissey’s plea filing which he did not attend personally, a Black Hawk county prisoner broke out of jail, robbed a pharmacy and was on the lam for over 18 hours.
Jeremy Alan Mask, fond of controlled substances which led to his arrests is now in custody and additional charges related to the escape were filed against Mask the following day. Mask was sentenced to a residential treatment center following a burglary of a Walgreens last April.
Are the incidents connected? Investigators are not talking. Except to say they now have video footage of the girls at about the time they were both seen. No mention as to whether or not the girls were on their bikes.
Investigators may be tight lipped- But they ARE acting.
Yesterday Black Hawk County detectives revised a no contact order barring Dan Morrissey from being near his wife Misty- although they have appeared together and have been living together for weeks- following a domestic violence assault which landed both Dan and Misty back in prison last August.
As reported exclusively last week on www.blinkoncrime.com, Dan Morrissey for the assault and Misty Cook-Morrissey for extensive probation/parole violations.
The pair are now permitted to be in each other’s company, provided LE agents are as well.
Misty Cook Morrissey’s sister Tammy Brossueau has confirmed that detectives have directly confronted Dan Morrissey with information they developed pointing to him as a suspect and as a result the estranged couple have refused to cooperate further in the investigation to locate their daughter and her cousin Elizabeth.
Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Office Captain Rick Abben officially declared the case an abduction at a 4 PM press conference yesterday afternoon.
Abben also announced a $50,000 reward is being offered leading to the person or persons responsible for the disappearance of the girls. He confirmed said evidence has been seized in the investigation and sent to the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation crime lab in Des Moines. While he would not comment on the evidence specifically, sources inside the investigation speaking on the condition of anonymity to www.blinkoncrime.com have confirmed that items from the home including a computer and other electronic devices are among the listed property inventory.

The footage of Tammy and Misty was really hard for me to watch. WTH is Misty so smiley about? Is she high as a kite?
1. Would be interesting to see visitor and phone records from the treatment center that housed Mr. Mask.
2. Any possibility Grandma has had issues with addiction or drug manufacture as well?
3. The photo of Elizabeth’s mom via Blink’s link is exactly how I picture a frantic, worn-down, frustated mama looking…not the bizarre behavior played out by Lyric’s mother. FWIW.

NO. that order is at least good for one year, depending on the verbiage and the “mode” as well as any probation restrictions for either, etc. It is sealed.
It was being violated, and let me say in comments what i could not in the piece. The only reason for modifying that order and not hauling Dan in for violating it, is because LE wants these two together as much as possible for investigative reasons.

Really? That has been listed under various news articles. How is that anything that is given to you on condition of anonymity? No offense but is your motive helping find these missing children or furthering your (whatever career this is called) career? Or both?
I know you are going to get angry and irrational but this is a logical question. Can you provide actual documentation that has listed you as someone who has helped in previous cases?

Ktina and Kim…I said over at ScaredMonkeys that I really do believe that Dad is def riding the meth train and Mom (and GMa) are so inappropriate on camera that they seem to be on it also. Meth can complete disassociate you from reality and take away all your personality where it’s hard to interact with humans! It also makes one SUPERsexual, sometime uncontrollable in that area but I truly hope this isn’t what happened to Dad in regard to those beautiful little girls! This is MOO and I do not know that they are on meth still but they sure act like it and Dad does look a little skeletal in the face! Anxious to hear what the evidence reveals! Do you know if Dan and/or Misty are friends or aquaintances of Mr. Mask? I was also curious if the footage of the girls has been shared with you. Could it be the girls never made it to the lake on their bikes? It seems strange noone saw them on a bike trail on a summer’s day.

Pete, you are certainly free to question sources and information you find on any blog. I, too, had read that electronic devices of Dillen and Misty’s computers were seized. Why do we not question that information when CNN posts it?

For me, it shows more integrity for Blink to say she has developed independent sources to verify her information–and many times she has stated that she will not print it until it is verified, unlike most of the online press.
Because of that, and because she has the courage to print information other reporters won’t or can’t, I follow her work very closely.
As far as having degrees goes, real folks don’t put much stock in that. I have them, as many others do, and they don’t inform the heart and mind any better than a lack of degrees.

Blink, some articles are sizing Meyers Lake at 5 acres and other varying footage. Iowa Parks and Recreation verifies your “27 acres” but also lists the lake’s name as “Meyers.”

*DM’s need for pre-trial supervision,
*the restraining order, the fact that MCM and DM went back to jail about the same time in August and now they need LE supervision if they are together(and that it was not only Misty violating parole.)
* The confirmaton that they had been living together (I wondered how she could afford her own place with a gas station attendant wage/and why Dillen was living with his dad–weird)
*Sister Tammy’s confirmation that Misty and Dan are not cooperating any further because he has been accused as a possible perpetrator.
(Wouldn’t that fly in the face of all Heather and Drew have tried to do for them?)
*The time of the press conference was 4pm (Central) when Abben announced the case was now termed an abduction.
*The reward is now $50,000
*The location of the crime investigation lab where evidence pertaining to the case has been sent.
All that work furthers this case. It is distilled and confirmed. You have made this your life’s work and it is a sacrifice. I hope to keep that in the forefront of my mind and in my own advocacy, as minor as it seems. There is a reason we all are here and its name is not Ego.

I measured the lake with Google Earth. It is an elipse and contains an island about two acres in size. My calculations indicate the water surface is approx. 27 acres. This where I calculated the amount of water to be removed.

Earlier today I read a piece on the Hughes.net home page written by an AP writer that had a sentence in it that the FBI believed the girls were abducted and that they thought they may still be alive. There was nothing that was given as to why. It gave me a little hope for the girls eventual discovery.
We see from Blink’s story that the apple did not fall far from the tree regarding mom. Mom cleaned up the language a bit. Thinking of mom all day and hoping that she is resting as comfortable as possible and able to enjoy the families presence.

I just heard what Mom3.0′s #18 post mentioned on our local central NC CBS news (http://www.wral.com/news/national_world/national/story/11341218/) at 11 pm EST Sat. night about LE saying they feel that the girls being alive and abducted PLUS they mentioned they were definitely “looking outside of Iowa.” The local link doesn’t mention that part.

The thought occurred to me that if Daniel is an active meth user, he would do anything to stay out of jail. The idea of going through detox would make him panic. The fact that the girls went missing the day before he was to appear in court, and then asking for a delay due to his daughter going missing makes me curious. Could he have them somewhere (possibly safe) as a way to stay out of jail? The only problem I see with this is anyone thinking clearly would know eventually the truth would come out and he would be in huge trouble with the law… but nobody using meth things about consequences. They live in the moment and for the drug. Watching him closely on video, however, he did seem to be holding it together pretty well, I don’t have a handle as to whether I think he is actively using or not.

If I heard it correctly, during the FBI update yesterday, when the media asked about Jeffrey Scott Wyant’s arrest. They called him Misty’s boyfriend. Did anyone else hear that or Blink please correct me if I am wrong.
Could these people be stupid enough to fake an abduction of Elizabeth and Lyric to get the police focus off of them? Maybe that would explain why police believe they are still alive and why the mom, dad and grandmother do not seem upset or worried the least little bit.

She also has some Biblical Scripture on there and if Jeffrey Scott Wyant was listed as one of her fb friends, it appears she has removed him from her friends list. I wonder why???
I wonder if LE believes the girls are being hidden away to be used as hostages for future negotiations if the upcoming trials don’t go favorably for DM. I agree with Mom3.0 and others – I’ve never heard investigators state with such confidence their belief that the victims are still alive. They seem to know something or at least think they do……and it definitely seems to be related to Dan and/or Misty’s criminal activities. Despite LE’s confidence, I’m still fearful for the girls and hope they are found soon.

LE know this very well. Amped-up on Meth, some detainees have kicked out the window and entire door of a squad car. It may take many physically fit officers to hold down one suspect. Tazing doesn’t faze them.
