Blink, do you know if he is being held on a no bond status?

    He has no status yet.

  4. A Texas Grandfather says:

Good! At least the police or sheriff are doing their job and got this one off the streets. Now, how is our “plea bargain” DA going to handle this development?

At least the community can breath a little easier unless he is allowed to bond out.

The Franklin County Sheriffs Office has done an outstanding job, specifically lead investigator Todd Hindman, and Chief Tim Fuller. You know I do not give praise to LE without merit.

They have done a stellar job, despite DA Taylor’s apathy.

He is facing 20 years, and at the risk of overpromise and underdelivery, I do not see this man getting out of prison. Most especially as he enters a known snitch.

  6. Christy says:

Relieved. Still in knots over this. Probably for ever will be.

Sending out hugs to Kelly and her family.
The major process of this phase is solved. More to go, but at least he’s locked up now.

Going as a felon with a gun is usually guaranteed lockup for sometime. Then the other charges will pile on.

Taylor, we are disappointed in your lack of concern for the Sharpton family and community safety.

Sheriff Fuller and staff, thank you. I make it a habit to never put political campaign signs in my yard, but Fullers was the only one last time. Next election, it will be his and whoever is opposing Taylor.

Atta Girl. You may be southern, but you act like a Y-word, lol.

I guess it is good for all of us to have a bit of both.

I have waited for this ever since that July morning I woke up and found out someone killed my best friend’s sister. Since I woke up and found and someone killed my friend. For almost three months I’ve been waiting, hoping for this moment. I hope they destroy the son of a bitch. I can only hope for the death penalty, but at least some justice will finally be done for Meg.

I am very sorry for your loss, and pray that this is the start of his end.

Finally this demon is behind bars, I can’t wait for him to get what he deserves. Now they just need to go after anybody else that may have played a part in Meg’s death.

Blink, thank you so much for all you’ve done to keep this case on the forefront.I know it is far from over but at least folks in this town will sleep better tonight.

Peace, love and prayers for Meg’s family.

  9. T. Ruth says:

Yeehaw! Let’s hope everything sticks. Didn’t he escape once before when he was locked up, or did I make that up?

    did

  10. Cindy says:

I am unfamiliar with Tennessee law, but isn’t the penalty for a capital case stiffer than otherwise. 20 years doesn’t seem near enough time to me….who’s next on the arrest list??? anyone in hiding???

    Cindy-

his arrest is unrelated to Megan’s murder right now. The weapon was found on an open warrant, and he is a convicted felon, this would make the 4th, iirc.

He will be indicted for Meg’s murder while incarcerated, and there is no bond on capital murder.

    WOW.

Solid evidence and took a gun felony? Thank God they got him. That’s the main thing.

One day at a time from here on in. I’m sure for the Sharpton’s, trust is a big issue. I hope what they have is enough to begin due process.

B, totality of evidence including gun felony; s this enough and do you anticipate bond will be set HIGH to keep him in jail?

Thank you! Love and prayers to the Sharptons xo

    He is not getting out.

OK. Everyone. Breathe a little easier, there’s still some scum in our pond here, but I think those will be easy to scrape up.

Just so y’all know, when BOC goes quiet, I think that’s when we know good things happen.

  20. bettyanne says:

Agreed, C. There’s still clean up but I like a good start ;)

How safe is the Sharpton family if the other 2 are still out in the public? That is what I’m concerned about now…. Sorry, but this is just not fitting together at all… God Bless Megan’s family; they have somewhat relief but not enough… NEVER will! This is just such a waste of a precious life and NO ONE deserves this…. Sorry again, but I am mad….

  23. bettyanne says:

Traction, meaning what? Sounds like materials and evidence found elsewhere??????

  25. Connie says:

I am overjoyed that this animal is off our streets. Now, we need to put pressure on DA J. Michael Taylor for an arrest on the charges for injustices done to Megan. She deserves justice! Kudos to all the local LE for a job well done. Now, if we can just find out the real reason why DA J. Michael Taylor refuses to act with ample solid evidence for a conviction on rape and murder, then we might get closer to an arrest and true justice for the crimes against Megan. Lastly, kudos to you, Blink, for your research, investigative reporting, sensitivity and bulldog tenacity in uncovering, sharing, explaining and reporting this case. It’s not over yet, but we have a great start by getting that monster off our streets!

    Bond is set at $500K

  26. Classygal says:

Now that he is locked up the others involved may feel safe enough to talk. They were probably scared out of their wits as well. They probably have to make sure he isn’t get out first though.

  27. tennesseegirl says:

Really just 500K with priors, failed escape and faking death and that’s all they could come up with???? is that not 5,000.00 to a bondsman????

An interesting tidbit that may or may not be relative.

On google maps, there is 1 house on Bell Aire that’s completely obliterated. If I’m not mistaken, a person can request Google to have their property removed from viewing.

I’ve used Google maps quite a bit and that is a first for me.

Again, could be coincidental but strange.

  31. momagainstcrime says:

I just wanted to let you know blink that Bel-Aire wasnt totally on lockdown today… An unrelated incident was brought to the schools attention and it turned out to be nothing more than a highschooler dressed up for homecoming week and a scared parent called in to report it..lockdown means the students are locked in their classrooms and nobody is aloud in or out of the building.. this wasnt the case today..They were totally safe.. i also wanted to chime in on the arrest made.. why did they wait until after they brought the boys home to arrest Donnie? I have never seen anything like i did today.. driving by numerous times i saw LE sitting on the grass chatting while DJ picked up his baby and appeared to be playing with him.. never looked like something serious was going on… and when the boys got home they were playing ball in the yard all around the LE cars.. Why couldnt they do it a couple of hours sooner while they were sitting around?

Well I guess if he would have just told him where the gun was himself, it could have been quick and painless and not involve the children. That was really in his control the entire time.

Makes me sick what these 2 are willing to put babies through.

    B

  32. Concerned Parent says:

B, was this the same gun used to shoot at the sign in Megan’s grandparents yard?

Dunno yet. Unless casings and bullets were recovered from the scene, I doubt a match could be made.

Friend, I believe the real threat is removed. It’s not a guarantee, but people like DJ surround themselves with people who will do as they say. They seek people who they believe are weaker than them. I’d bet his ‘friends’ are just as intimidated and/or scared of him as everyone else.

  34. Gypsy DD says:

    Hello my dear friend Blink.

Excellent work and coverage on this case. I have been quietly sitting in the balcony on this one..so similar to Christine Sheddy’s case.

The local LE have taken the appropriate first step in the long road to justice for this family and their town. My heart goes out to Kelly, what a brave, loving and relentless advocate she has been for her daughter ..and to make sure this scum has no future victims.

I know that this is the tipping point, but I also know that the road to final justice is a long road with many ruts and curves. Praying for the strength and fortitude of the family and LE in bringing this to closure for all concerned. Can’t wait to hear of other arrests..and I certainly hope any other’s involved in this murder and cover-up will make a smart decision to turn State’s evidence on this man before he tries to do the same.

One can only hope that he receives a big welcome from his jail mates he has snitched on in the past.

Hugs and peace to you Blink..keep up the good fight.

O my dearest DD, I so appreciate you in the balcony- it charges my batteries.

In my mind as I have been working on Meg’s case, I have called her Christine several times, the cases are as different as they are similar, but in the universe, they are linked, imo.

They have also probably blurred the lines of over-emotional involvement from a professional perspective for me, but damn, the brutality and suffering will hit my ignition like nothing else.

This scumbag hump had no business being on the street.

I hope they get all that are involved in this murder. Thank you to all of our law enforcement that are involved.

  40. Michele says:

I am so happy that DJ was arrested today. I am hoping this felony gun charge is enough to keep him off the streets long enough until the indightment charges for Megan’s brutal murder charges come in. What I worry about now though, is that since he is the first pig captured in the pen that he will be able to work himself down a plea deal implicating others involved. But I am hoping the case is already tight enough so that they don’t need his testimony in any regard. I don’t want that monster to even get a year slapped off of his sentencing.

He took away a precious, precious thing that can never be excused, never be forgotten, and I can’t speak for the family but possibly never forgiven. But considering what kind of person Meg was, I’m sure forgiveness will come in time. Not for those involved, but for them. Because to heal and move on they might have to eventually deal with that.
My heartfelt prayers goes out to all of the Sharpton family, friends, and this community that has come together for the same goal. Today is a good day for us all.

  41. A Texas Grandfather says:

If bond is set at $500K, then he will need $50K to get out. That is if a bond agent is willing to put up the $500K.

LE needs to get the other two as quickly as they can.

The people in the community still need to follow through on any efforts to move Mr. Taylor to the sidelines and maybe the judge as well.

  42. NatashaC. says:

Now, he looks scary as hell in that mugshot. It made the hair on my arms stand up. Unlike the earlier pic I saw, I can definately see the evil in this one.

I think he looks like a scared flea caught in a spider web, waiting to get rolled up for dinner.

Not a fan, and I apologize in advance for my utter and borderline unprofessional disdain for this man.

    B

  43. Concerned Parent says:

So the tip to LE came from TG? Didn’t he also make some sort of statement a week or so ago to Bedford Co LE about the murder? Or did I dream that? Did DJ “snitch” on TG when he violated his probation? Just curious…..

  44. Christy says:

    gross.

he came a long, nasty, sick, psycho way from his MySpace picture.

I’m sure TG gave info to help in his part of the evilness.

I 100% agree with TexasGrandfather about our role in this community to rid ‘DA’ Taylor of his neglect to act in a timely manner.

I realize now that DJ lived steps away from my friends in that neighborhood and seconds from an elementary school, a few pre-k and daycares.
I pass that house almost daily.

I don’t know if the others involved will sing now, but I sure hope they do. get it over with, just talk.

I think that Mr. Gifford is aware of his situation.

No need to apologize Blink. I think we all share your sentiment for this creature. Bet he’s not yelling his name out now. He’s going to get what he’s got coming, and I don’t mean breakfast.

  47. oneilgirl75 says:

So so so so thankful! God is good, all the time, God is good. His timing is perfect even when we (I) just do NOT get it! So thankful that this family and community can rest.
His actions in the last week have been scary. He has been brazen and dangerous! I am so glad his time has come to an end and I for one can not wait for him to be found GUILTY! With all the cases on this site and beyond I do NOT begin to understand this DA. If he pleas I would expect rioting in the streets!!!
Blink. You have been professional while you waited for the wheels to turn even you are aloud grace as you finally sit at your desk and say FINALLY, WTF and express your feelings on a sick POS that would do something so evil to a beautiful, loving and trusting beauty!!! I for one and proud of your willingness to never give up and stay calm knowing that in time this was coming!

Our justice system is an imperfect one, but I still say it is the best one in the world.

We are on God’s time even if we do not understand it at the point we make our selves crazy over it, but I just believe he knows better than I.
