Kyron Horman Missing: New Years Eve Settlement Ends Horman Marriage
Portland, OR- In a surprise court hearing, Judge Henry Kantor signed off on the agreement between Kaine Horman and Terri Moulton Horman to end their marriage this afternoon.
Details of the agreement have not been released publicly, but according to KGW, a financial settlement to include child support and a lump payment to Terri Horman has been reached.
In what can only be described as a bitter family court feud- the divorce matter was last in court on December 16th to decide if the Horman landscaper, Rodolfo Sanchez Estrada -who alleges Terri Horman tried to hire him to murder Kaine Horman at a lunch meeting – would testify.
Judge Kantor has not yet filed an order from that hearing but Attorneys for Terri Horman were granted a continuance from the pending temporary custody motion scheduled for December 19th and 20th.

the reason i posted so many articles that said th left at 8:45 and someone else saw Kyron at 9 or later is that even national news reported that and the odds of no one but the origonal story writer checking with LE to confirm that they said that, are very slim.

@erose. re Terri’s LinkedIn. The TA testing assisting to me means proctoring yearly State testing. (In my County, also, pta volunteers do that.) However, it could also mean offering iep’d kids accommodations during testing such as reading a test aloud or taking dictation. If that was the case, imo it was illegal of the Principal, as a pps employee must do it. And they had a large number of paras on hand to accommodate (3?).

As for the Reading Specialist in Skyline stuff, imo using her in that way was probably also illegal as an unattached,
but more worrisome it would present direct, and probably more capable, competition to the nonprofit (which was really for profit as far as the founder/owners’ salaries went) hourly wage workers. PRF (then with a different name) had a contract with PPS, & was/is founded & owned by Eldon’s wife.
Imo it is absolutely unheard of in a public county school, and imo also illegal without competitive contract bidding by PPS, for Rosenthal’s biz to get a lockhold on reading tutoring in PPS during the school day on school property, which services school day employees of PPS are supposed to provide during school setting/time as to reading instruction.

They resided on Sauvie & had started & run 2 martial arts studios in Hillsboro & Sherwood beginning in 2001. Also a big el ed summer camp. Water babies article says he drove a 15-kid van to el eds to transport to aftercare. One attraction of this church property was the space to run afterschool programs for Skyline. less far to drive. Please note my old comment near the end about teacher starting times – just because his school started at 9:05 does not mean he had to walk in the door by then. The obvious would be if he had a substitute, of course, but there are any number of ways he could have been late but unnoticed or not considered a problem….

If Logan Storm was a fifth grade science teacher in an elementary school then, as MBS points out, it’s quite possible he only had classes part of the day and maybe even no classes that close to year end when schools generally host festivities instead of regular class schedules.
He is definitely at the top of the list (for me) in terms of potential suspects considering a photo exists of him with Kyron, he had access to local schools, and his behavior just prior to, during, and directly after Kyron went missing.
I will try to bring forward posts thatkewlgirl and I exchanged regarding Logan Storm’s timeline around June 2010 based on a televised re-enactment of his crimes. It was eye opening.
Blink, are you able to say if the SZ description could rule Logan Storm out as being SZ?

In a newspaper article on Townsley’s Quick Draw enterprise, he said he took it up in 2008 to relieve stress.
Trying to renovate the Faithspring group’s Brooks Hill Church for four years, only to sell in 2007, grow a congregation, serve as pastor, run 2 marital arts locations& teach there and a MA summer camp, and hope to expand to a 3rd aftercare site, ought to have stressed anyone in 2007-8. He must have been happy to become a security guard in a safe place like a hospital where he could still have lots of human contact & informal ministry.

If you had a secretary, he should also check for those arrested for computer-based child porn but never tried–sorting them into those with charges dropped, or those given plea bargains, and sentences for the latter. wrt charges dropped, I’d see who their defense attorneys were. #1 sort them by OR law school. Also see if the defense attys were ADA alums like Meisenheimer & Rackner.
Ordinarily an el ed teacher would get stiffer treatment, even if white & middle class.
Maybe they were hoping he’d testify against “friends.”

I’ve always assumed the person asking for help carrying something in did NOT have anything to carry in, or only had a few things that could pass as an exhibit – not unusual for a teacher (I read math teacher somewhere)to carry around.
Re TH helping with testing students with IEP accommodations:
I’ve seen PPS stretch the budget pretty far using volunteers or less qualified staff who were “supervised” by someone in authority to go beyond their level of expertise, employment, etc. It happened with teaching classes in high school as well under the supervision of a vice principal while waiting to hire someone permanent. It has been a long, long time since I observed that, but I have some doubts whether it has ceased if the opportunity and perceived need are there.

I do have extensive background on him and I am 100% convinced he has a juvenile record that he was attempting to conceal by changing his name. His name was Burgess Jennings Hansen but he has a slew of alias’s. On paper if you will- he does not fit the profile in the classic sense, however, the exception can be the rule.

The irony IF Terri is innocent is PPS as an organization would have thrown under the bus a parent volunteer with an MS in Spec Ed with an interest inreading who’d have been knocking around helping out for 15 more years (kiara) , yet PPS supports Rosenthal’s biz situated inside el eds where she hires parents and others for minimum wage who may not even have a BA and who likely have no training–but hers–in the reading field.

Say the Solar4Schools “teacher” who had previously appeared as a one-off educator in classrooms, thus creating his alibi when he returned but left Kyron disabled in the vehicle. That’s one possibility. There’s also a free-floater from the Brooks Hill never-ending renovation between 2003-2010 particularly an out of State volunteer as a possibility, maybe the person watching kids at play.

I can’t think of any special ed parent who’d pay for four half days only of
“art” and “movement.” with no ongoing treatment relationship with a
service provider. Art therapy is a mental illness model and movement is an
OT model. There are plenty of OT businesses with “summer camps” lasting more than 4 days.

Also I think it’s useless to have more than a team of 5-6 conducting the attendees’ interviews. You can’t notice random disparities or corroborations if you are not the interviewer. First pass, 5 detectives with 60 people each at 4 per hour = 2 full days of interviewing.

Interestingly the sloppy investigators who misused the evidence were on Sr DA Woods’ Child Abuse Team that O’Donnell had spent 5 years on, and hadn’t O’Donnell just been reassigned in July 2010 to Horman? And the Detective was Gresham’s, the jurisdiction which supposedly supplied the experienced detective to the E County Major Crimes team doing Horman.

He did have a separate bedroom.
When shown the property receipt, he spontaneously said the Geek Squad thumbdrive in his sex box was the girlfriend’s & directed LE to his Lexar which was in his backpack. So it was his word vs her word.
Another thought about LS and his timeline. Just because his school started at 9:05 does not mean he had to be late to school. He could have gone early, allowing others to see him there, checked in, then left and come back.
IF SZ knew what he wanted to do, and did not come back in the building after he walked out with Kyron, quickly disabling him in some way, the whole thing from parking his vehicle to driving away could have been done in ten minutes or less, if:
1 – he had a purpose, his plan was simple, and he stayed calm and focused
2 – he was willing to settle for any one of a targeted group of boys (asking a girl to help carry things in might have raised an eyebrow, IMO)
3 – he knew the school well enough to know who the teachers of younger kids were and the location of their rooms so he could walk straight to where he wanted to go
4 – he stopped by on Thursday briefly to see how the exhibits were set up
5 – he had the “teacher look” – not all teachers have it, but it’s a mix of being in charge, being friendly and caring, and walking with a helpful purpose – all at the same time – only the best of the best will challenge what you are doing there (it helps if you carry a few papers or a couple of books, and if you are or have been a teacher – parents can do it too)
IMO, this is a very simple plan for someone who knew school culture to carry out, and could easily be aborted if anyone seemed suspicious. Not unusual at all for a science teacher to want to make a quick visit to a science fair, whether with an exhibit or not. (More likely not – you’d have to go back and pick it up later, so be seen an extra time.) This doesn’t take any unusual computer skills except to handle the online porn. What better alibi than a different school full of kids and staff?
IMO, even though someone may have a preference (boy, girl, age, appearance) for their own purposes, the money that comes from selling child pornography would be a strong motive for someone in need of money for any number of purposes including a defense attorney for other charges you expected to have or already had – or perhaps porn to trade for porn. I don’t know how all that works.
IMO, what I described above would not work if the person only targeted Kyron. There was no way to predict exactly where Kyron would be at that time so you could simply walk in and be sure to spot him. Two people working together, maybe – but NOT one who had already left the building. LS does not seem like a partner kind of guy, IMO, IF he were SZ.
Not saying LS is guilty, of course, but IMO, it would have been much, much easier for LS to have carried this out on his own, than for TH either alone or with help.

I would never debate Logan’s guilt, he was convicted. But now I have questions. After all, it was Rees who first tried him & gathered all the evidence & was fully prepared to try him and Rees was at the outset of trial when he had to pass it to feds due to venue.
I now think Logan’s own handling of 600 child porn images is more than sloppy, I think it is extremely odd that
he’d keep his girlfriend’s Geek Squad thumbdrive beside his bed (probably supplied by her to Mike who worked there) and
an unprotected work-home laptop with those images
accessible to his 12 yo, with an admittedly snoopy girlfriend as she’d
been reading his texts, and a house of stranger(s) like Mike who obviously did not like him.
This case reminds me of Terri in that while a couple anonymous folks from school posted in O comments: I know him, he’s guilty, similar peopke said about Terri: She put my books out in the rain and she threw away the stuff of a classroom teacher when a sub. Being unlikeable does not show a specific crime’s guilt.
Then there’s the mishandling of evidence.
And, this child porn case should never have been with the Child Abuse Unit Gresham Detective. Why was it? Due to the 12 yo in the home? this case always should have been in the felony Division (Rees’) and not Woods’ Division (CAU). This Frink’ distribution of cases is same as in Horman which also should have been a felony case –but Woods’ CAU staff took over Horman too, for Year1 any way.
A former waiter advised my daughter every restaurant/bar has 1 or 2 bad apples, that way they have someone who will do shady things & cut corners. I imagine the same happens in PDs and DA offices. Shady investigators who cut corners and mishandle evidence.
What is interesting is the evidence the federal prosecutors never put on. And they were putting on Rees’ case period. They never took in other household computers–particularly Mike’s–as evidence. They could not tie Storm himself into having actually downloaded any files. They said the Geek thumb had on it a few files only he used, but if one’s uploading to a computer, one would also download a few files. If he were an active child porn user as the 600 images and power points suggests, imo there’d be plenty of downloading evidence and file creation evidence. While evidence said files were installed on the Geek thumb in 2009-10, it was more likely the thumb drive was in Mike’s hands at that time. Mike could have played a SZ like role but he was never checked out nor ruled out despite his access to the devices and motive.

“Starting with the first allegation, Storm contends that “the government withheld from the issuing magistrate the fact that [Detective Stuart of the NWRCFL] searched the very same MacBook hard drive and found no evidence of downloading or sharing of files of child pornography.” Def.’s Mot. Franks Hrg. at 5, 7. Storm cites to the following state trial testimony of Detective Stuart:
Q: Is it your experience that you might find individual images that have been deleted, artifacts of those images?
A: That does happen, yes.
Q: And in this case, you looked for deleted images on the hard drive.
A: I did, yes.
Q: And you didn’t find anything.
A: No.
Q: And did you find any evidence of file sharing by the user of this computer for pornographic images?
A: No, I didn’t.
Q: And had the user been file sharing to download hundreds of child pornography images and then deleting them, would you have expected to find some artifacts of those images?
A: Yes.
Def.’s Ex. 17 at 39 (emphasis added).
This testimony does not establish the facts alleged by Defendant. Detective Stuart only stated that he did not find “evidence of file sharing” or “deleted images.” It cannot properly be inferred from this testimony that the Detective “concluded” that “evidence of downloading or transfer of images” “did not exist.” See Def.’s Mot. Franks Hrg. at 5. As the government points out, “[f]ile sharing, also known as peer-to-peer or P2P sharing, is only one method to receive or distribute child pornography. . . . [D]efendant could have downloaded images from the child pornography websites he visited, and he could have distributed child pornography simply by emailing images to another person.” Gov’t Opp’n Franks Hrg. at 13. Further, the fact that Detective Stuart had found images of child pornography is sufficient by itself to establish probable cause for knowing possession of child pornography. Thus, any omission of the kind alleged by Defendant would not affect the probable cause for the warrant as a whole.
Second, Storm contends that by January 2012, “federal agents themselves had already searched for evidence of downloading, transfer, receipt or manufacture of child pornography pursuant to the October 2011 warrants and found none,” and that this fact should have been disclosed in the second round of warrant applications. Def.’s Mot. Franks Hrg. at 7-8. The court does not agree. The HSI agent in fact had uncovered further evidence of “internet web browsing conducted by an individual with a sexual interest in children.” Def.’s Ex. 11a at 15. Further, the HSI agent had discovered that some of the child pornography found by the state investigation had been produced outside the State of Oregon. Def.’s Ex. 11a at 12. These facts indicate that the child pornography had been downloaded. The HSI agent also found evidence that child pornography had been accessed on the Lexar thumb drive. Def.’s Ex. 11a at 16. These facts alone are sufficient to establish probable cause to search the Lexar thumb drive for evidence of knowing possession as well as the possibility of receipt, distribution, or manufacture of child pornography. In addition, it was clear that HSI had not finished its examination of the devices, see Def.’s Ex. 11a at 15, so any statement that the investigation had definitively not found evidence would have been premature. There is also no evidence that any omission in this regard was deliberate or reckless, particularly given that the affidavit explicitly noted that the state investigation had uncovered “no data of evidentiary value” on the Lexar thumb drive.”

Malty… you will have a chance to watch it on July 4. Investigation Discovery is running a marathon on the series “Who the Bleep Did I Marry”. The Logan Storm episode is called “Weathering the Storm” or something similar, told by his ex girlfriend. I thought I’d posted a link here to the TV schedule showing the episode time slot, but I can’t find it now. I think it was scheduled on ID channel at 10:30am, on the 4th of July.

@mbs. It does look like the room was targeted rather than a specific child. Kyron could’ve sat down in homeroom & refused to leave his display that day. And a teacher is more likely to let a male child go out than female, & a male is more likely to be asked “help carry.” I suppose Desiree’s and sick Soldiers’ thesis is Terri told Kyron to go to that exhibit on departing
@ Malty… Is LS dangerous? I’m on the fence. He very well could be. But also, the core of the case is that his GF ‘found’ porn when she was seeking a way out of a relationship. Could she have been setting him up? Sure… I’ve not really dug into the background of who LS really is… But I have learned not to trust what people say if they have ulterior motives in destroying other’s reputation.
I do think LS fits the SZ profile more than TH does. And I’ve not seen where his June 4 whereabouts have been cleared beyond doubt. Just like I know Intel is rampant with employees skipping out without the company’s knowledge, I can’t clear KH’s so-called work alibi either… But I personally am comfortable stating that TH’s alibi clears her from being directly involved. And since folks have to now say ‘she had help’, then ANY of the family could be the one in the hot seat, even if their alibis are locked tight.
I am also just as inclined to think that Rudy is the SZ as anyone else, if there is any truth to the confrontation of his family about his attacking TH with Kiara in her arms. I can see his feeling manipulated by her as motive to cause him to act out against her. And he wouldn’t know Kyron wasn’t her natural child. It also gives him huge motive to create the MFH story in order to make himself appear heroic instead of sleazy (or guilty if he’s involved in making Kyron disappear).
I just wish the school had followed protocol and called someone IMMEDIATELY when they realized Kyron was missing. I actually don’t think they knew until they were called after he didn’t get off the bus… and that Porter and staff did a fast CYA of excuses… I believe Porter’s first excuse of ‘oh, he’s in the restroom or getting a drink’ is as far as she bothered to go that day, sadly. We likely wouldn’t still be here wondering had they just followed the ‘rules’.
