Dr. Phil Show Hosts Missing Portland Child Kyron Horman’s Step Mom Terri Horman Over Two Episodes
I have been covering this case since Kyron Horman disappeared from Skyline School in June, 2010. Like most missing persons cases I have covered in the past, I am of the strong opinion that best efforts at the truth are the only way to propel investigations that, similarly to Kyron’s, have gone cold for one reason or another. This approach has worked in resolving some of my previous cases. I am proud of that. I remain steadfast to the integrity involved in those and future cases.
Over the past 10 months (or so) I have been developing an updated series on Kyron’s case to include my multiple interviews with Kyron’s step-mom, Terri Horman. Needless to say as she was the subject of at least three simultaneous cases before an Oregon court and remains a person of interest by the agency investigating her sons disappearance, this has been an arduous and sometimes delicate journey. Ms. Horman’s experiences during the ongoing investigation of the disappearance of Kyron Horman are critically important to propelling his case and with great hope- finding the truth about what happened to this cherubic and innocent child. There are dozens of sources, collateral interviews, forensic experts and legal analysts that also contribute to my series and have done so because of their belief that my motivation is to bring to light information and opinions in such a way that would almost “require” a focused review of Kyron’s case and the likely shaking of that proverbial tree everyone talks about.
Set to publish about 6-ish weeks ago I was asked to postpone the first installment of the series, which I did. I subsequently learned Ms. Horman was participating in the Dr. Phil program after she completed taping. Dr. Phils producers were well aware that Ms. Horman had interviewed with me extensively, and anticipated my series would be publishing information that was not known to the public previously in the days prior to her scheduled episode. When Ms. Horman conveyed to me that she feels obligated to speak out about “her son” in any national medium that will have her, I most certainly respected that. I still do.
While Dr. Phil seems like a gregarious fellow for sure, I have zero interest in being associated with his program, nor do I believe his shows content is designed to do any furtherance of investigation or truth. There is much concern (although I have no affiliation to the show whatsoever) that the timing of the publication of my series on the Kyron Horman matter might be interpreted differently or inadvertently contribute to the programs content or audience reactions. Not what I signed on for. A missing 7 year old boy six years running is not a framework for entertaining a target audience. He is not fodder for online social media bully campaigns- yet it occurs.
I will be publishing my series on Kyron’s case at a later date, in it’s entirety with no editing adjustments as a result of any of the appearances on Dr. Phil. I appreciate your patience and your understanding. Feel free to discuss the show below.

Soldier, reupped on World, shares her book review of Morris. Urges folks to leave reviews on Amazon & other sites. Sounds like a biography of Desiree. All she went through as a child? Idk how she knows it was Terri who gave Kaine STDs. Sounds like he got around.
No mention of the scrapped book title and format to include DY as announced in her press conf the year before. My preliminary opinion is that it was based on legal advice.

It is entirely DY version of events, no independent verifications or corroboration to be found, and moreover, plenty of court records that refute some of it entirely. That said, once again that individual must not have even read the book she is reviewing because the book does not say that whatsoever. Moreover, medical records would show when DY contracted the STD and the subsequent treatment of same- it predates Kaine’s meeting of Terri and at the time DY was on Kaine’s health insurance.
If I were to publish a writing where someone Directly accused another of transmitting a STD, If it were to be included at all I can tell you unequivocally my legal team would require Certified medical verification in the very least.

Just a rumor
I once read a comment once (by someone who claimed she knew DY) that DY’s kidney failure was caused by her ingesting her entire anti-Viral prescription for herpes in a one in a suicide attempt in 2002. I also noticed that DY now says the kidney failure was caused by or related to being poisoned during her visit to Canada.

So could the aforementioned STD have been the reason Kaine refused to sleep with and wanted to divorce DY
when she was 8-9 pregnant with his child? STD (Herpes) can cause vision damage if it is active during a vaginal birth. Maybe DY blames Terri for Kyrons vision problems? But that is crazy if as you mentioned DY may have already had an STD before Kaine met Teri.

I hadn’t seen that picture of the kid holding the fish who is supposed to be Kyron. Man does that child look like him. I don’t think it is him though. Kyron’s ears are lower on his head than that child. In the photo you provided, cd2, if you look at Kyron’s ears the lobe ends at basically the cent of his mouth and the top of the ear ends below his eyes. In the fishing picture the ears end higher and the top starts dead even with eye center. ???

Never mind what I said, his dob was 3-22-1929 (not 1926 or 1922) as the certificate states), but it is weird that everything else fits, that would have made him only 17 at the time (1946), but again, that could be why he would lie about it. Up until the book release (and where I read it with my own eyes) I have publicly sidestepped the questions re one or more of the parties in this case having an STD in general, and subsequently as the potential of such a condition being responsible for Kyron’s Diminished eyesight because I felt it was nobody’s business and exploitive. I addressed it finally (in context) ONLY because in the book it is clear and unambiguous, declarative even- Desiree Young claims that Kaine Horman gave her an STD. To my knowledge, the only accusation I have ever seen that there was a transmission from TH was posted on the hater crater years ago and apparently again recently in response to the books claims that Kaine gave it to DY. (Pausing to ponder the ridiculousness of it then and now). To be clear, such hate speech is absolutely NOT protected under our 1st Amendment and the book doesn’t even suggest it was TH.
SO, While I may be of the personal opinion that Medical information is her own Personal business, I’m sure legacy readers of BOC in this case will recall I have been very “pointed” in my opinion that it was no coincidence that when Judge Kantor ruled that medical records of the parties would be admissible (subsequent to discovery obvs)in her civil suit, that the DA filed to intervene, immediately. There is more to that conversation re ex parte communication at a later date, but I also became aware that both DY and TY cancelled their second scheduled depositions when that order was filed. The point of why DY would want most of what was written known publicly only serves to convince me she has terrible advisors AND no concept of how some of it actually makes her look. I mean- she had her wedding celebration soirée anyway when her child was missing about a month? She was already married and her other son walks her down the fake aisle? I have been doing this a minute people, and let me tell you that information floored me entirely in a case where nothing has surprised me in years.

I also agree with you he is responsible for other crimes against children, likely unknown to LE yet. Point is, stranger crime to young children is just not as rare as even we believe.

Hope for? MCSO does not have nor have they ever so much as evidence a crime was committed on June 4th, 2010 and the FBI does not even agree with them that TH is or was a suspect in his disappearance. The MCDA was caught not filing no true bills and refilling cases. Kyron’s disappearance grand juries were both dismissed without indictment and at least the first was a no true bill. What does that whack job think Schmidt is going to do exactly, invent time travel? Smh.
This is a ten your old case that can now boast the fact it has not sought an interview with their de facto suspect in as much time and dismissed two grand juries where she was the target.

The warnings on valcyclovir & acyclovir (antiherpes virals) say drink with lots of water bcz of potentially negative effect on kidneys. I am on it for life due to an aitoimmune disorder where the skin attacks itself due to herpes antibodies. You remind me I am underwatered. I think the kidney damage might be cumulative rather than one-time use, & that’s the type of “suicide” one might expect from a Borderline rather than a depressed person. Re Desiree wasting a minute in her autobiography delineating her genital herpes is ridiculous. Any doctor would laugh. First most adults have contracted herpes 1 way or another. 1 in 6. & many not thru intercourse. 2nd both DDY & Kaine had been around the block. Women can contract it asymptomatically, never know they’ve had it, & shed virus w/out sores. Just as likely she gave it to him. I’ve always thought Kyron’s vision most likely related to a uterine infection or other trauma. Herpes in utero as well as other things explains not only vision but also the subtle neurocognitive & motor differences. Terri was doing everything right with him as far as I can see but teaching him to produce schoolwork by typing, taking him to sports, to the doctor, getting his glasses.
Desiree & tony’s med records don’t seem relevant to a $10M civil suit seeking damages for “kidnapping”.
So Terri’s civil atty who came out of retirement went for them, Why? Something Terri told him would be there.
It would have implicated them, or exhonorated her.
So if DY outs her genital herpes in her autobiography, what in her—or Tony’s —Med Records would induce her to drop the suit, & what would Terri tell ber attorney would tend to implicate DY while exhonerating her? Post partum depression not a biggie, many have it. Neither is an STD. The only reveal I can think of to discredit DY and TY woukd be a history of substance abuse.

Obviously I have never commented on my knowledge of this issue specifically, as DY (through Morris) has chosen to divulge her “STD” status, I will say this- yes, Rose, you have been right all along to suspect Kyron’s vision issues and/or possible NOS ancillary medical issues could be as a result of an STD-related condition of his Mother during her pregnancy and subsequent labor and delivery. That said, nobody I have ever interviewed who had knowledge of DY’s condition ever attempted to exploit the information to me.

They were definitely relevant. As I recall the inclusion order specified both Kyron and “all named parties”. If you recall at the time there were allegations that Terri “made up” the existence of the Dr. appt for Kyron on the 11th and I am aware of members of the DA’s office that tried unsuccessfully to get medical records of Kyron and TMH without a subpoena or a court order. Such requests become part of the medical file. Probably important to note that Houze/Bunch/Williams et al had ample opportunity to conduct reciprocal discovery prior to the last stay in the civil matter and imo those “returns” were likely to prompt a counter claim and a motion for summary judgement on the plaintiff on the basis the claims made were without merit at a minimum. That’s my short answer wrt to the medical records, also keep in mind that at the time there were live FAPA orders and an active dissolution case (until it wasn’t) and Kantor was sitting both. Imo, the set of facts that existed would show that DY never sought any medical treatment in CA, and she moved there briefly with a new male partner, never so much as changed her DL address- (I mention so that anyone with knowledge of how CA socialized medical works it would require a VISA, residency status and that never occurred) and therefore she basically gave up her physical custody of both children and (if the court came into proof to the contrary) was dishonest to the court to obtain stipulation orders that included language re child support. I can tell you unequivocally both Fathers would have had the right to seek reimbursement for fees and child support as well as the court, on its own discretion cannot waive support if it subsequently learns the information for which guided its decision is false. Addressing support matters in a custody stipulation order is always considered a “deviation”.
It’s my belief that Would have called her standing to even file such an action into question at best, and at the time she was also advertising a go fund me for legal fees, which, btw, are not paid by the plaintiff in a contingency matter.

Actually, I thought it was congenital, but
there are other things with an impact,
among them toxo & CMV. My adopted
son was thought to have toxo—he didn’t. I
became an expert on all the infectious causes
in utero, as well as herpes when I left him briefly
with a licensed sitter at 6 mos with a sore on
her face (at the time I didn’t know about herpes
on the face) & 10 days later he had
severe type 2 entering thru a diaper rash. Challenge
was keeping it out of the eyes in an infant. I have concluded
my son’s issue was FAE due to other physical features like
pigeon chest, scoliosis. Idk if DY abstained from alcohol
while pregnant. Maybe she’s saving more for the next book.

The mystery is how DY & Elden got so far along. My own reasoning was his wife encouraged him. She owned a private business teaching reading which was allowed to go on site to public schools during the school day which imo is outrageous. Schools are to deliver spec ed reading instruction. I could forgive it if she were training teachers. Likely, teachers/parents from that world pushed her to help Mother. & for decades she & Elden were connected to State Dem leaders ie Wyden, & locals like Rackner, thru Beth Israel. “began teaching music at the religious school at Congregation Beth Israel and later taught visually impaired children in the Portland public schools.” “continued to work with children with special educational needs. I have always wondered how DY was able to get a kidney transplant in Canada without establishing citizenship first. I knew that the GoFundMe for legal fees was phony. But they morphed it into search funds which was OK.
It is clear that DY and the truth are not in any kind of a partnership, she seem capable of telling some big whoppers. Since in her book she admits she did not go to Canada for a kidney transplant which is what she has been telling the press and her facebook pals for 10 years. One would think the Facebook people would be wondering about other things she has said.
I am confused did DY give up custody of her children before her kidney problems when she first moved to Canada with her new partner, or after she was supposedly poisoned and had Kidney failure.
I miss the law enforcement relative simplicity of Who Took Kyron Horman now.
So much of daily life is more difficult now, from law enforcement generally, to mail delivery (yeah we’ve missed lots of days), to medical care safe access, & the covid testing we never had, to safe college entry, to car drive across hellhole states to hellhole delivery points, to job site access, and so on. I miss 2010-20 & this case’s challenges.
It was planned prior to Kyron’s abduction, yes. Do you remember the crisp white shirt Kyron wore in the video from the school show? DY asked TH if she would mind packing that with Kyron for the Summer visit and she agreed to.
The book also states that on the day of her civil service wedding about a year earlier that Kyron called her sobbing while she was dressing for the occasion. As is the overall theme of the book (defensive) she blames Kaine/Greg for the boys schedule as the reason they could not attend the first one- without the mea culpa that she planned it for when they would not be there Intentionally under the auspice they would have a family ceremony over the Summer. I can’t think of anything to say that does not sound judgmental. In my work with parents or loved ones of active missing persons cases I have not seen that type of self gratifying behavior, ever. She was already married for the third time to the man she already lived with several years, and her 7 year old was missing from his school. So let’s have a mock wedding celebration so only one son can walk her down the proverbial “aisle”. Wth?
Credibility certainly, but I believe DY “announced” her STD (blamed Kaine directly) because she knew Kaine and TH knew this about her as well as the fact she did not move to CA for medical treatment, nor did she receive any when she was there. If she’s going to write a book she clearly contributed to, I presume she Was trying To remove leverage of what others could say factually in response- total guess on my part. I believe proof of this was likely received during reciprocal discovery and investigation of the civil matter and I think the language in the order granting medical records access to “the parties” was also what brought the MCDA into the matter. Records would also show (by omission) that TH was never Dx with PPD nor was she ever medicated for ANY depressive disorder. They would also show WHY Kaine was admitted to the Hospital the December before and that it had NOTHING to do with what the FAPA order alleged. Basically, those records also skewered all prosecution theory of TH motivation to include: Kyron did have an appt scheduled for June 11 and the DA had been calling the PED office for those records without requesting a warrant for them. That happened. So I don’t know that I would say the med records exonerated or implicated anyone directly, but they certainly served to enhance Terri Hormans credibility and truth.
I couldn’t agree more Rose. I tell myself (insert case name) that none of this is difficult for those who are no longer with us, just for the folks trying to navigate either finding them or discovering who is responsible.
I do not feel MCSO can ever solve this case no matter who is ultimately in charge of Kyron’s case- if it is solved without recovery of Kyron, it will be through the FBI. I lost count of the cases in the last two years alone that were cold that the FBI brought to bear in months. Once a local PD effectively creates a conflict of interest one can forget about it, imo.
DY did not have a kidney transplant and did not seek medical care outside the US for a kidney ailment. There’s a reason that she continues to be obtuse when asked about this. I have interviewed the person she moved to CA to live with and it’s my understanding he has told the FBI the same thing. The book is careful to express statements from DY to the author who clearly had no intention of fact checking a thing. A quick review of DY public statements over time contradict her previous accounts about multiple subjects and the “true crime book” uses a bevy of pseudonyms nobody bothers to tell the reader until the end. I have never heard of that, and no respectable literary agent or publishing house would touch this book as a result.
In the end, isn’t she doing exactly what she accused TH of in terms of not being truthful or embellishing?
More importantly than the finger pointing- wth did this book do to find her child?
