If your like me, you are as bewildered as one can get at the insistence of “Camp Casey” to continue to suggest that a person with this name is involved in the abduction and murder of 34 month old Caylee Anthony. Perhaps Attorney Baez and his Cum Laude Clan are preparing their Columbo moment in this regard while fighting over who gets to be Colonel Mustard in the study .
Although listed as a witness for the Prosecution released by the State’s Attorney’s office on January 11, 2008, Annie Leigh Downing’s Interview with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office has never been made public. Her cell phone records and any IM or text messages between her and Casey Anthony have also never been made public although other witnesses have.
Failure To Yield
That may be the gross understatement of the year describing Casey Anthony. But in this scenario, it is actually a traffic citation, one of two, given to a Zenaida Gonzalez, on May 24, 2008.

No, again, this is not the Zenaida represented by Mr. Morgan, this is a different Zannie, with a birth date of January 11, 1986. Wow. Just a mere 3 months older than Casey. Did they go to school together? Have mutual friends? Fellow Fusionite?
Nope, Not the Best Driving Record
Annie Downing had a rough couple months this Spring in the traffic area. On March 30, 2008, she received citations for both Speeding 15-19 mph over the speed limit, and for not producing her driver’s license and insurance card. While the presentation of those documents on April 18 cleared that part of the citation, the speeding ticket remained open on her record until 2 online requested and subsequently granted extensions later on July 1, 2008. Why do we care?

There are only 3 plausible scenarios where a material witness in a homicide case whose statement has been withheld, and a woman with the name at the center of the linchpin of Casey Anthony’s defense get traffic citations on the same day. Throw in the tidbit that Casey met Tony Lazzarro for the first time at a party that same evening, and you have what appears to be in retrospect, the beginning of the omen for Caylee. To be able to best portray the relevance of the above ZG incident as compared to known relevant dates in this case, I offer the following three theories with accompanying timeline.
Theory 1: Casey is using Zenaida as an alias
Under this scenario, which I personally believe may be the case, Casey is driving and Annie is in the car with her on May 24. Casey had been in an accident on May 14, 10 days earlier in her own vehicle and did not have it back yet. She gets pulled over, and because she did not have a valid license, gives the Officer the name Zenaida Gonzalez . Annie provides proof of insurance as it is her car, thus why no charge of failure to produce both documents. Under Florida law, requiring both front seat passengers wear seat belts, Annie gets that citation.
Notably, although the incident was May 24, that summons is not filed until June 6, as opposed to Zenaida’s which were filed 6/2/08 and 6/3/08 respectively. Was “ZG” given a window to present ID to drop that charge as Annie did in her unrelated 3/30/08 incident? Was the seat belt charge added on because the officer on duty when it kicked back realized she did not comply?
Evidence to Support Theory
Operating without a Valid License
What is important to note in the above docket is that the case updated on 6/3/08 to require an arraignment, now scheduled for 6/11/08, indicating the lag for the subject to have produced ID.
The subject is required to appear in person. This issue will bring the second summons issued to ZG that day into focus significantly. Also, this docket does not match the financial records of the Citation:
There is a status change to “prosecutorial” on 8/18/08 which does not appear on the front docket. The only reference is located in the charge docs. I was aware of this Zenaida case record in July. It actually went delinquent on 8/20/08 and I found this important as Casey was incarcerated then and I was suspicious of the connection. I brought it to the attention of a source in Orlando, and I advised the source if there was anything to this issue relative to Casey’s case, someone had better do something to stop a bench warrant from being issued or the press would be all over it. Upon checking the next day it had been corrected retroactively to reflect the $100 payment on 8/15/08. Which consequently would cover the next 2 months payments, or through October 15, 2008. Casey was indicted on October 14 and returned to prison. None of the payments on this summons were made online, therefore there is no public receipt available. It was not until I began researching other known witnesses against the Zenaida connection that I found the Annie Downing record for the same date.
Failure to Yield Status
The relevance of this ticket, which was paid in full on 6/10/08, in person, is critical. Why would this Zenaida show up to the Clerk’s Office the day before her scheduled mandatory arraignment and pay one citation in full that did not require a court appearance? Is it possible she showed up and agreed to pay that one in full and plead no contest to the other so as to not have to appear the next day? The docket says defendant was present with counsel, but there is no counsel listed, which would be mandatory. I attempted to get a transcript of this case proceeding, but was told due to the prosecutorial status, I could not. Who shows up to pay the ticket in full, appears at the arraignment, makes one payment and skips out on $260? My best guess is someone that is facing far worse.
On August 23, 2008, Annie Downing paid the $71.50 for the seat belt violation. It contains her method of payment so I have not referenced the receipt. The penalty for a seat belt fine is $30 in Florida. Because she would be responsible for another person in the front seat, if it was her car, the ticket references the “driver” for both. A $60 fine for both seat belts plus tax and court fee of $11.50, sounds correct at $71.50. There is no other way to explain the amount of that fee for that summons.

This is a lot of data to look at. While extremely compelling on it’s own, if you review the timeline against known events in the case against Casey Anthony, it is the totality of that evidence that forms this theory.

06/10/08 - Casey/Zenaida pays the moving violation fine in full, in person, presumably makes arrangements for the other in an effort to not have to appear.

07/15/08 – Casey writes herself a check for $250 cash and cashes it at the downtown Bank of America at 1:24PM. A payment is made on this summons as this is the due date of $50 cash, in person. It should be noted there are 16 closer Bank of America locations that also have bank tellers, and 50 locations within a 17 mi radius. She chose this one, as it is less than a block from the Orange County Clerk’s Office, where the payment was made. Cindy finds Casey through Amy.

08/15/08 - Payment was delinquent, then updated to reflect a $100 payment retroactively.

Theory II
Annie Downing knows an actual Zenaida Gonzalez, birth date 1/11/86 and knows the connection between her and Casey. Admittedly, under both theories Casey would have had to know this name prior to Zenaida Gonzalez visiting Sawgrass Apartments on June 17, 2008. How did ZG come to visit Sawgrass in the first place? That has never been discussed. What other apartments if any did she visit that may be connected to Casey? Is it possible that the original date the manager thought was on the guest card of April 17, not June 17 is accurate? That would indicate that Casey somehow had that information linked to the Sawgrass prior to the 5/24/08 summons.
Theory III
There is no connection to the person receiving the tickets on 5/24/08 named Zenaida Gonzalez and Annie Downing or the Casey Anthony case whatsoever. It is an utter coincidence and this woman has not paid her fines because she is terrified, due to her unfortunate name, that coming out of the shadows will have her at the front line of the Baez firing squad.
Yes, I am being snark. Who’s going to be first to the clerk’s office to see if you can pull a copy of the citations with the Plate and Vin’s? They are not in these records either…

She was probably using a fake i.d. to get credit cards! Maybe how she was making a living. Someone should pull some credit reports for a ZG. I know someone that did this and she was never suspected. This is what she did, she got mail from her bf mail. (which was credit card offers) applied in his name, set up a mailbox in the nearest town, with her bf’s name, forwarded all calls to home to her cell phone, cashed thousands of dollars in credit card checks at drive through
banks, and cashed some of them at wal-mart! Her bf never recieved any mail or phone calls! He never suspected anything until… he went to the bank to apply for a small loan and this bad credit showed up on his credit report! She also used credit cards to register a cell phone and was checking all incoming calls from her computer that was going to his house!

I’m with you on that! Miss Universal, Hollywood-Style, right there in Disney World! I’m not too worried about Florida. There are people there from all over the world. I can’t wait until the death penalty gets slapped back on the table. At this point, I’d say ‘no deals’. If she plead down to 2nd degree murder, she’d be facing what? 20 Years? I’d put the death penalty back on the table and offer her life in prison. She’s young, but she’s also dangerous.

Perhaps this is why the police were at the Anthony’s yesterday, Greta reported that Cindy was teary eyed and said she was not doing well-perhaps this information was leaked to the Anthony’s(the Annie/Zanny connection) and finally now they have to realize that their daughter was Zanaida!

Blink, did you consider the possiblity that you may have found the Zenaida in question? If not, why? If so, why is it not included in your theory section? Is your Orlando contection reliable and if so, why do you think that they are?
Regarding the computer search for ZFG, note that the 6/12/08 date is a file creation date and does not mean that the search was done on that date.
Referring back to GA’s FBI interview, he indicated that he had done searches for ZFG using the home computer after KC told them ZFG had kidnapped Caylee. What you are seeing is likely a result of GA’s search.
Well as per the jogger theory ,its out at the moment having read that she was sexually assaulted and they have DNA they are matching up ,but we have not heard back on that yet. Any other input on that ( the jogger ).
I too looked up ZG on the public clerk record a while back and did notice this ZG who is so close in age to Casey,I wondered if she did know her because there has to be a reason she used that name , besides the sawgrass guest card.
BLINK , do you know if the ZG that you are speaking of also has the hyphenated FERNANDEZ in her name. Spanish decents use their maiden names and it becomes hyphenated after they wed and so their last names become merged so to speak . So it is interesting to know if this ZG is married or had precious marriage .

Although I find this theory very interesting I have a question that I hope someone could answer for me. I went to the Clerk of Courts myself and looked up these tickets, and if I am reading them correctly The tickets given to Zenaida Gonzelez “” on 5/24/08 was by * Officer NARVAEZ * and the ticket to Annie Downing on 5/24/08 was given by * Officer CRENSHAW *
Though I find the timing of all of this a bit more than a coincidence
him, respectfully I addressed that in the piece. My theory is that AD ticket was probably a function of ZG ticket; not presenting valid ID in a specific period of time, 6/3 to be exact, which transformed the ticket to criminal traffic court and required an arraignment.
An example.. in some instances, you get a warning for speeding, if you get stopped again within a certain time frame, sime jurisdictions if indicated on the original summons, will generate a summons converting the original warning to a ticket. There are are actually 4 different courthouses that a summons, regardless of location of the incident, can be filed.
Again, this is my theory and the other 2 theories cant be ruled out exclusively without review of the actual citations. I have seen AD’s, but was denied access to ZG’s.. thats all I know
#64, I do not. As a rule public databases as far as confirming identity, especially in a common name situation, are largely unreliable.
While I encourage sleuthing, I would caution everyone to vett their information very carefully before ever assuming they are correct just because of a name match.
Also, regarding Nicole G, that is correct, the crime was sexualy motivated, I have no idea why I keep seing posts that was not the case..
Respectfully, I think it is nothing more than a coincidence on the dates, for starters, Caylee was not missing until 6/16 and Nicole was murdered 6/10??
Love the theory but is legally flawed. The citation given to Annie D. is per a specific vehicle code section and subsection–operating a motor vehicle without a seatbelt. She had to have been the driver to get the ticket under this subsection–if she were a passenger and the operator was driving her car she could not legally get this ticket. That’s the law. Second, it’s impermissible for an officer in Florida to give a ticket after the fact–also from a common sense pov the officer who gave the ZG ticket would have no knowledge of what happened to the ticket afterward so as to write a subsequent ticket to the owner of the car for another infraction. Third, the officers who WROTE the summonses are listed on each summons and they are different officers. That is the law–and that’s because a summons is in lieu of an arrest (yes, you can legall be arrested for a traffice infraction)-so only the arresting”" officer who observed the infraction is permitted to write the summons. Iinteresting reading however. PS If one give a fake name one normally does so for the purpose of not having to pay the fine–makes no sense to give a fake name–which is a much more serious offense–and then show up to pay or to show up in court with the possibility that you could be found out and arrested on a felony charge.”
You ever notice how Cop’s kids don’t get caught until they’re in BIG trouble? They take care of their own. That’s a fact. And… They’re all a bunch of control freaks, usually. They learn it from their parents, that’s true. And they have to be comfortable being in control to be in that line of work. If their child happened to be psycho at the same time, she may have crimes that are tied to days, rather than dates???
But, what does it mean to be a cell phone with the name ‘Black Jack’? Would it mean a phone you ‘jacked’ off a black person? That’s a weird coincidence. What if she did something to Nicole and left something of Zenieda’s there to make it look like Zenieda was a sick puppy?

Blink, sorry the file that is referenced is the index.dat….the url in that file. Do a search for index.dat and you’ll see that it is a database of urls in this case, seeing the path of the index.dat in this case. You can’t say that the search was done on 6-12…..You can say that a url was looked at between 6-12 and 7-16…that’s all you can tell from the Created and Last Written Date. Anyway, it’s an interesting read none-the-less. Of course LE should have the date when that url was last browsed since they have access to the index.dat.
In reference to comment #70 (SoCalGal) – Also, the officer would have ran the license plate number thru the DMV database, which would reveal who the car is registered to…

JC, thanks for posting that but you have officially gone over my head..It was widely reported that the ZG searches actually started in June a few days after that doc dump, so I will have to leave it to the experts on that one.
On the Xanax and Annie, that is correct, I have also seen some now deleted facebook entries from her stating that she has been referred to as a drug dealer because of that text message and she is clearly not happy.
The problem with this theory & the citation, Annie Downing & ZFG being casey is this:

so…did Annie DOWLING have a phony id with DOWNING as the last name, or is it a totally different person?

You are incorrect on the computer forensics.
Allow me to illustrate.
I did a search on my own computer on the c drive for index.dat – which is what part of the search for on KC’s computer was, and is where the 6/12 ZG search confusion comes into play.

You can see a variety of creation dates. Most are 3/28/08 – this was the day I reformatted my harddrive and reinstalled my OS.
The 12/28/08 creation date was the last time I cleaned my hard drive of temp files, etc. I use CCleaner, and I configure it to leave certain things. I could tell it to remove all index.dat files but I don’t because I like my cookies and other files and rarely delete them.
Your average computer user does not delete index.dat files, and they do not get overwritten. The index.dat files are appended to.

Blink–having worked in the justice system as an attorney, arbitrator & judge for about 25+ years–I think it is all just a startling coincidence. Astounding coincidences happen all the time. My feelings are the same re the gonzalez and zanaida home ownership names near the crime scene. BTW, ZG is not that rare of a name in Florida. But then again, maybe KC was driving around with Annie and was stopped and gave a false name–then they switched cars or drivers because of that – and then Annie got a ticket. Annie’s interview has to contain some explosive stuff because it hasn’t been released yet. Great sleuthing on your part, IMO.
I must disagree and I do not feel this is just a mere astounding coincidence(coincidences do occur but not as often and as miraculously in this case)-although perhaps there are some flaws such as the plate/vehicle registration.
I do feel that the State’s attorney’s office is onto this as well as OCSO etc. Otherwise the ticket would not have gone into paid status back in August when obviously no payment was made.(Casey-Zanaida) was incarcerated. Plus if this was a real Zanaida once the warrant was issued she would be picked up and booked-and I do not see this happening and that warrant was issued the 9th-13th-over a week.
I really think Blink34 is onto a very good lead which will help to unravel the mystery-of course the testimony of Annie Downing-yes that is her name I don’t know why people keep saying her name is ‘Dowling’ because that is not true. Annie’s testimony will be used to squash the defense idea of the Babysitter Zanni did it. Think about it!!!
So yes I agree with Blink34 and I also do believe there will be some developments coming out on this in the coming weeks.
#79, GinnyG, in fairness to you, Annie’s name is mispelled on the State’s Witness list, but hey, maybe that is another line of support for the theory.. Maybe it was mispelled on purpose to stave off the sleuthers.. Her name is Downing, as referenced by the Sean Daly interview as Klaasend so efficiently pointed out, as well as Jeff Hopkins and Dante Salati (name also mispelled)interviews.

Fl seat belt law over 18 whether passenger or driver , whomever is convicted of such is responsible themselves , passenger or driver so YES ANNIE LEIGH DOWNING would get and pay her own ticket.
LE do have ability to pull up photo id of DL though ,so did they and if they did maybe casey presented an expired DL of ZG that she stole …….remember when LE were at the Anthony home on 7-15 Cindy dumped casey purse out and LE took her wallet ,pulled out a plastic card and took it no one knows what that was , well maybe it was ZG expired old license that casey stole?
also there is a real ZG with a birth date of 1-11-86 who has ties to ANNIE possibly casey too ……so we know a 23 year old ZG exists ..

How does this explain RG, hearing the name of the nanny in 2006, and Zanny being referred to with Anthony R as the nanny? Zanny was referenced by Casey as the nanny many times over a 2 yr period. I’m not sure I’m understanding this theory completely.
How can the above poster say that ZG does not exist …..the ZG at the clerk office has a birthday ! ZG was born 1-11-86 , I am not saying Casey wasn;t using her ID or anything and posing as her ,but the ZG suing CASEY is off base and the case is baseless , the real ZG she allegedly posed as is of question ,concerning Blinks theorys’ which are very plausable.
I went to the OC document page and saw the signature-now I need cursice samples from Casey to do a comparison. On a side note-I now know how Casey got that Zenaida was born in New York–there is a marriage license on there from 2005 for a Zenaida Gonzalez showing birthplace–New York!!!! makes you go hmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!
I notice people posting about the pings as proof, but from what I saw of the pings at the time, she doesn’t stop long enough to pay anything. We are talking 10 minutes at the most….
unless Florida has super quick service and she’s running to and from her car, then driving very fast, just seems unlikely she is going into any government office to pay anything. Of course this is just my own opinion, as anything is possible…a cell tower being busy so the call or text is sent from a less busy one…but still.
I would like to add IMO that Casey was planning this. I feel she was trying to create a fake Zenaida Gonzalez by making this ticket thing happen. I guess I could almost go out on a limb and say she intentionally got the ticket as to start a case file for a Zenaida Gonzalez.(one she knew would appear online) I say this because she also must have obtained the imaginary babysitters birthplace of New York from these same records-(examine another Zenaida Gonzalez birtplace from her marriage application record in 2005!)Surprise surprise. Also by May 24th she had been bedding probably half the OCSO. She wasn’t all that foolish as to pull suttle information from those officers. She knew what she could do to get the Zenaida plan in action. make it look like Zenaida was skipping town not to pay her civil penalty. She had no intentions of paying that civil penalty past July–this would be her attempt to cast belief (in Caseys mind) to LE that there was a Zenaida and that she skipped town after kidnapping Caylee-hence her not paying her penalty even after she paid the first payment. That first payment is crucial-as it makes it look like Zenaida was going to comply, until she supposedly kidnapped the baby and thus would not return to keep paying on her penalty.
I am also sure that Casey probably practiced this faux signature of Zenaida-did LE seize notebooks from the Anthony home in December-shortly after finding the remains–perhaps to compare signatures with the 6.11.08 document signature of Zenaida Gonzalez. Casey just didn’t go in there on the 10th and sign the name Zenaida Gonzalez–I am sure she had been practicing a fake signature-I do remember seeing casey scribbling Casey Lazarro and stuff like that-so she has been known to practice writing signatures.
I also can 99.9% guarantee that whatever Annie has told LE is in some way related to this as they must have a reason to keep it all hush. I just hope that this is the extent of Annie’s involvement-knowing Casey used the Zenaida name to LE the night she was cited on May 24th. I feel Casey had been planning this ever since she began using the Zanni name some say as early as mid 2007.
Perhaps this will be the smoking gun in this case, and then the forensics such as pings etc will go back and help recreate this story. Are there any known samples of Caseys natural signature(cursive) perhaps though she has been writing differently to throw people off and not to suspect her. I must say the document I examined looked as if the signature is contrived-especially the ‘G’ in Gonzalez–it looks like someone wrote it who usually doesn’t use a G(maybe like someone who usually signs their name Casey Marie Anthony-notice the absence of the G) in their name-it just looks like it is a forced letter signature.(if that makes sense) I am no handwriting expert, but I am sure one could attest to the fact discontinuities are looked into when examining signatures for authentication. Perhaps someone can screen capture the z from when she wrote ‘Casey Marie Lazzaro’ and compare that to the ‘z’s in the 6.11.08 Gon’z'ale’z’ signature.(I will assume they match closely)
Gracie, the only thing I can come up with to your question:
1) They all know a Zenaida in their age group, and they just decided to use her name.
2) Zanny is the reference to xanax, or the nursery book, and has no basis to Zenaida.

Well they could have come up with the name Zenaida as long ago as possible-regardless if it meant Xanax or from the Zanni Nanny book-well they decided upon that name-for whatever reason. Anyhow, even though it is Florida with a large hispanic population-I feel she still picked the name Zenaida as it seems more uncommon then lets say (Bob Smith or Jane Smith-just for example purposes. I mean plus the prevelance of there being a Zenaida down there just indicated that it would make her request for law enforcement to search all that easier if lets say there are only 25 Zanni Gonz. compared to 300 Smiths….plus she was still able to use the commonality of the hispanic name-and don’t tell me she didn’t understand culture down there or have a general understanding at a basic level-especially at her feeble attempts to intersplice spanish words in her everyday speak and text messages(which agitates me completely)

I am trying to find similarities and I think the ‘n’ and the ‘a’ and ‘o’ look very similar. I wonder if LE experts have examined these documents?
Do a Search for Casey Anthony’s Original written statement and you will have plenty to compare her handwiting with. If I have a chance I will find the link and post it here.

Exactly, so the upper part that is handwritten is in fact the clerks handwriting which in a way also resembles Casey’s bubbly print font, but the signature does look purposefully designed differently so to say-with some still stunning characterisitics from Casey’s cursive-such as the ‘n’ the second hump is slightly higher in both signatures.(could be a subconcious thing). I wish the file would be produced from the courthouse-also no update on the writ of bodily attachment has not yet shown if it has been served and most likely it won’t because the real Zenaida is in jail as inmate # 08049710!!!
