Blink, who knows what was behind Jimmy’s attack on Rachel Clarke. It seems like his assault came out of nowhere. All Rachel did was give him a hug goodnight and he started squeezing her.

According to a report in the Orlando Sentinel:

Prosecutors investigate brutality reports about man linked to missing Ocoee woman
Prosecutors investigate 9-month-old allegations of brutality against James Virgil Hataway, the man at the center of the search for missing Tracy Ocasio

Seminole County prosecutors worked Thursday to investigate 9-month-old allegations of brutality against James Virgil Hataway, the Ocoee man at the center of a current missing-persons case in Orange County.

Ocoee police continued to gather evidence in that disappearance. Tracy Ocasio, 27, of Ocoee was last seen May 27 after she left a bar in the MetroWest community with Hataway. He told police she drove him home, then left.

Hataway, 28, of Ocoee remained in the Orange County Jail on unrelated drug charges.

But he soon could be charged in Seminole County. On Thursday, Rachael M. Clarke, 22, of Orlando met with prosecutors in Sanford and told them what happened to her Aug. 7.

According to a Seminole County sheriff’s report, Clarke drove Hataway home that night after the two went to the home of friends. She leaned over to hug him goodbye, according to the report, and he began squeezing her.

On Tuesday, she told reporters that he wrapped his hands around her neck and choked her.

She managed to get out of the car and run down the street but tripped, and he grabbed her by the hair and began slamming her head into the ground, according to the Sheriff’s Office report.

He also twisted her neck in an apparent attempt to break it, according to the report.

Clarke began to scream, and when neighbors came outdoors, Hataway fled, she told reporters.

By the time Seminole County deputies arrived, Hataway was gone, according to the report. But Clarke had bruises on her neck and scratches and scrapes on her face, back, hand, arms and knee.

That all happened in Fern Park in Seminole County, where Hataway lived at the time.

Deputies tried to find Hataway during the next few days but could not, according to the report, so they filed paperwork with the State Attorney’s Office in Sanford.

Even so, Hataway was never charged.

Chris White, chief assistant state attorney in Seminole, said Thursday that was because Clarke failed to respond when his office asked for her help.

That changed this week. After learning that Hataway was a person of interest in Ocasio’s disappearance, Clarke went to Ocoee police.

On Thursday, she said she was unhappy that Hataway had not already been charged with attacking her.

White said prosecutors did not file charges in August because they needed to hear Clarke’s version of events and needed to know whether she would be willing to testify against Hataway.

Now that she’s told them yes, they’re trying to track down witnesses, he said.

“We want to find the people who heard her screaming and came out and interrupted his attack on her,” White said.

Prosecutors also want to talk to people who, earlier in the evening, saw Clarke and Hataway together.

Seminole County deputies originally treated the attack as a misdemeanor, but if there is sufficient evidence, White said, charges of attempted murder, aggravated battery or false imprisonment could be appropriate.

In the other case, Ocasio’s friends and family held out hope Thursday that the 27-year-old jewelry maker would be found soon.

“I’m keeping my hopes up,” said Emily Hamilton, a close friend. “But I don’t think this is going to have a positive outcome.”

Detectives have scoured the area near Hataway’s Ocoee home with bloodhounds and cadaver dogs but have found no sign of Ocasio, said Ocoee police Sgt. Randy Conyers. A search inside Hataway’s home produced similar results.

Surveillance video shows Ocasio leaving the Florida Tap Room in MetroWest with Hataway sometime after 12:30 a.m. May 27 after an Orlando Magic playoff game, according to police.

Ocoee detectives found her yellow, two-door Chevrolet Cobalt abandoned and unlocked less than a half-mile from Hataway’s house.

Ocasio’s cell phone is missing, but newly released reports show that her mother tried to call her on it about 8:30 a.m. the morning she disappeared. Cell-phone records show that call pinged off a tower about 1,000 feet from Hataway’s home.

Ocasio told Hamilton that she first met Hataway at the Florida Tap Room about a week before she disappeared.

Detectives encourage anyone with information about this case to call Crimeline at 1-800-423-8477. Tipsters, who can remain anonymous, are eligible for up to a $5,000 reward.

Apopka police earlier this week re-interviewed Hataway about the disappearance of another person, friend Onda Christopher George, 29. He disappeared in February and has not been seen since. Hataway and two other men were seen by police near George’s abandoned car on Ocoee-Apopka Road.

Thank you. I am aware of Ms. Clarke’s account, I have no reason to doubt her whatsoever as I have stated numerous times. I was just sharing what I was told by someone that Jimmy actually confessed to. Lastly, there are a few people that HAVE spoken to the police in an honest way, although they are friends (were.. they contend they were lied to about alot of Jimmy’s past).

What has happened here? I thought this was a site to protect victims rights. More time has been spent attacking each others views and opinions and placing blame on what generation got us to this point.

If there was one thing in society that got us to where people felt it was okay to take another persons life, we would have fixed it by now. It’s a multitude of “stuff” that got society where we are today.

Respect views that are different than yours. Doesn’t mean they are right or wrong, but you can give respect to someone who does not necessarily believe the same way you do

Do not judge a book by it’s cover. What’s on the outside does not always reflect what’s on the inside

Remember why we came to this site. 2 girls are missing. they need to be found The persons responsible need to be held accountable for their actions.

Wise words and definately applicable more than ever in this case.

Well, Blink, let’s hope there’s a break in this case. Tracy & Jennifer deserve to be laid to rest. And their loved ones deserve to know where they are and what’s happened to them.

Thank you for your work here. It’s important, serious work that contributes to the search efforts by keeping the information flowing. And I’m sure you encourage those in the know to contribute to LE.

I don’t mean to be so intolerant, I’m just disgusted with all this senseless violence against women and children, all of it with drugs involved. My patience has worn thin.

Fairest, I can certainly appreciate that, and at least that is a commonality for all of us.

    Got it Blink, TY
Figured there was something conflicting in your interviews, since I know you check your facts. And that is what I was getting at. Didn’t take it as condoning the behavior for any reason whatsoever. Anyone reading here knows better.

SP- As an aside, not expertise, just my own experience, a schizophrenic may start out as a very smart person, even brilliant, but loses that early on, esp w/ drugging or drinking. They may hide illness by not saying thoughts out loud, (for awhile) but still they’re mostly in a mental fog, and “lost in their own heads”. Don’t think anyone would refer to them as real “sharp” mentally. Not disagreeing on the possibility of a mental issue if JH is involved, mother’s issues and other things red flag this possibility to me; just not that one. But who knows? again JMO, and appreciative of your thoughts also.

Yep. I am with you on this one. Right church possibly wrong pew, imo.

Funny you mention that, I actually started there, because this guys profile does not fit the profile. I’m circling back around at the moment. Did anyone see the appearance at Seminole County?

    Riddlemethis-
I appreciate your input. My expertise is somewhat limited in that
I have two daughters who have been diagnosed Schizo-effective (probably not spelling correctly) but you know what I mean. Both were very intelligent academically. One was accepted in a pre-med program and the other graduated salutatorian. Neither ever went around talking to themselves out loud or in a fog. My first indication that there a problem was when my younger daughter told me that the planes and then taxi cabs were following her. She thought that her boyfriend was having her followed. It was years of drugs that finally put her over the edge (not wanting to admit there was a problem). Both grow up with an aunt (ex-husband’s sister) who had the same mental illness and were afraid to admit that they were going to suffer from this as well.
Now that my younger daughter has been hospitalized for a couple of years and is on medication. She has opened up and told me how long she knew and all the things she did to hide what was happening.

  7. dddeerma says:

Riddlemethis: your posts are always so thoughtful and well reasoned. However you may not be right in your thinking that JH is a closet schizophrenic. It is hard to have that level of brain disfunction and pass for normal. More likely that he has a deep well of anger from growing up with a mentally ill mother. Very few schizophrenics are dangerous to others, except when mistakenly thinking they are protecting themselves. From his statements and web pages, this looks like an aggressive sociopath who wants to kill. Women are generally easier. You all are right about drugs, especially certain drugs in their effect on genetically weakened brains. Many persons have their first psychotic break under the influence.

I think riddle actually felt schizo was not applicable here. and I agree strongly. Not this guy. I am telling you as much as people want to throw around the word sociopath, he does NOT fit. I am repeating myself, but sociopaths are sociopaths all the time, they do not fluctuate. He may be BRAND X, but he is not a garden variety socio. No way.

God Bless you poor soul, maybe Blink could exch our emails when she has time if you’d like. I am convinced it does get passed along. My heart of hearts goes out to you, more than you can know. It affects everyone in the family, not just the sufferer, and, I thank God having that illness was not my cross to bear directly in my own head. I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy nor take it on for all the money in the world.

Even if we don’t exchange emails, I have to share this with you. Check out Clozaril if you haven’t already. It doesn’t work for everyone, but when it does = M.I.R.A.C.L.E.S. I’m talking the difference between someone who would have been hands down, institutionalized for life vs. now a productive member of soceity who works, volunteers at a hospital, hears no voices, etc. for the last 12 + yrs!!! Now you’d never guess in meeting them they were diagnosed with this scourge. He was brilliant too, but that never came back. However, it’s the closest thing to a cure I’ve ever seen. Again, MIRACLE no one thought was possible after years of therapy, hospitals, drug therapies, etc. which did virtually NOTHING. Round and around until this. The one caveat is they MUST be clean of all illicit drugs and drinking. Period. None. They also have to have blood tests regularly, but all worth it. Yikes I wasn’t going to post anymore novels here. Sorry Blink…..way OT.

Allright I am breaking my own rules here, a la Awakenings? Beautiful Mind?

I don’t want to give anyone here the impression that I think the this is in anyway an out for JH or whomever commited this crime. We all know that the mental illness card is played way to offen in these criminal cases. If the person has any idea that what they did is wrong, they should be held accountable and punished to the full extent of the law.

I am simply making an observation.

Nope, If anyone intimated otherwise, I missed it. I think we are all in sync

Blink- you did not miss anything, just wanted to be clear with everyone.

  12. riddlemethis says:

Mrs. O- prayers of many are with you.

dddeer- TY for kind words, was actually trying to say NOT schizo, IMO, in that post. And LOL, trust me, while I guess ur right most may not be, some can be very violent, esp drugged up. Not much “brakes” in their heads either.

B- YES, :) great analogy, but no wearing off. Safe to say NOT a typical ending, but shows anything is possible. Call it hope for the hopeless. Never thought I’d see it.

And agree this case is not about a typical garden variety full blown sociopath, but I dunno, strong ASPD leanings?? yeah I’m thinking perhaps.

Could some of the different opinions be due to the different definitions we may be attaching to the terms we’re using? The pro’s can’t even agree on the terms.

ASPD is also a wolf in sheep’s clothing, but remember not everybody gets to see the wolf. Or there’d be no fooling (manipulation) and no sheep costume. Er go conflicting reports. Also what makes them dangerous. Llyod’s post if accurate in other thread, along with others did it for me. Charming on the surface, real BS’er, etc.

Charming, glib (fun), some people like him and think he’s sincere. Others tell a very different story. check.
Pathological lying (no apparent reason). check.
Disregard for the law, usually goes way back, juv record. check.
Disregard for having caused others harm (laughing to friend about Clarke incident) check.

and even more signs I think….but that’ll do

They can control themselves when it suits them, they just can’t do it forever. Their impulses will eventually get the best of them, or an opportunity arises. Not all of them kill or maim though. And they will play straight with some people (at least for awhile). Again, I dont’ know for sure, but am just following those clues in the story.

Always will say this stuff needs more attention in the sense of prevention. It’s one component to help stop violence against the innocent before it happens. Regardless, society needs to be protected and I’d never condone it as an excuse either.

In my home town, well actually it is in our lower half of the state, Southern Oregon, they do have posters, Billboards and tv commercials with before and after pics of meth heads, on the commercials they have local supports in their offices that say a few words also. I think it is very good and very eye opening if for no one else younger kids to see in advance what it does to you. they have a whole project called the Southern Oregon Meth Project going on and have for awhile, we have a big prob with it down here. but i think it is helping, maybe not in a huge way but every lil person or bit of help is a step forward!

  18. rebel says:

Post # 44 – First, props to Blink for letting it through, I know dissenters from the popular line are given a hard time on here.

That was a very well-written, articulate post that some people here should read thoroughly & think about. It seems that many armchair detectives jump to conclusions based on speculation & superficial appearances, & don’t let logic & common sense have any part in their thinking. I’ve pointed this out in other threads (Sandra Cantu-related, the only reason I started looking at this site, since I knew her mother slightly back in the mid 90′s). When I did, I was called a troll for pointing out some flawed reasoning.

People should keep an open mind & seek the truth, not seek to justify their prejudices. All rough-looking people are not evil, & all “respectable” looking people are not good.

  19. Tams says:

Per ‘rebel’ on Post #68 above:

“Keeping an open mind in order to seek the truth” . . . a perfectly on-target, simple statement that (is supposed to) sum up the point of this blog; with the addition of hopefully then using that uncovered truth to seek justice for victims and their families, such as the Ocasios.

Rebel makes an excellent and much needed point here: justifying prejudices/intolerance via holier-than-thou excessively long-winded lectures only serves to turn everyone away and shut down the flow of dialogue and ideas which could be assisting in the resolution of this crime. It is imperative that anyone who feels they have some information which could help find Tracy (which includes knowledge of JH and his behavior/history/friends) is allowed the opportunity to speak. (Knowing, of course, that Blink will edit that which is entirely inappropriate!)

A quote from Post #44 from ‘onemoretime’ above:

…”If you take anything away from this situation it should be that even people that make their way in life from the bottom up, people who have to trust their guts as a matter of survival can sometimes be fooled by those in their own flock.”

Very well said, and particularly pertinant to this case. Your post hit on a number of points that many may have lost sight of. Thank you for your contribution.

  20. dddeerma says:

blink: I promise to go back and read more closely on this case. Isn’t the thing about sociopaths that they turn the charm on and off? Riddlemethis is probably right about different definitions of conditions causing problems. Psychopath: doesn’t moderate behavior. Sociopath: manipulative in getting own way, doesn’t care who dies as long as they are satisfied. PS clozaril and other newer antipsychotics are amazing. Life savers.

I am not a MHP but I spent years in the Pharma Industry launching drugs, so when Riddle mentioned Clozaril, I checked it out. W O W. Again I say, it’s early, but encouraging. (sorry for the o/t)
No DD, a true sociopath, owns their “sociopathy” like a cloak. Their prism, if you will, always has the same frame of reference and vantage point. No faking.

So, back on topic….. anything new? And btw, Blink, thanks for taking such good care of me and deleting certain posts…. you are the best.

  22. FairestWitness says:

I am guilty of being intolerant & prejudiced against unemployed violent drug users. The long-winded lectures(?) I wrote were the result of anger. Because at least 3 women in & around Ocoee have been brutally victimized by an alleged suspect who was not arrested or charged for his attack on Rachel Clarke. Jennifer Kesse was already missing at that time. Tracy Ocasio was not. If Jimmy Hataway had been dealt with, chances are Tracy would be safe. Drug use is accepted and tolerated by a number of JH’s friends. Some have attempted to defend this lifestyle, some have reformed and gotten out. I hope those who choose to stay silent to avoid legal scrutiny will decide to change their lives and come forward. In no way did I intend to discourage them, nor did I wish to change to focus of the investigation. I just want those two women found. That’s all.

Im clear on that, well put.

are these guys a gang?a homestyle mafiaso? oncemoretime i apologize if i am offending you , i understand what your saying is that most times in the dog eat dog world you dont really know who your friends are,and that doesnt make you a bad person ,your just a person trying to deal with cards life has dealt(i hope you dont abuse drugs, cuz iswear life is way easier without the added problems of drugs) my interest isn’t personalized on the people involved,it’s objective, and abstract.i have a feeling the bodies will never be found ,i would be mapping out the major intersections in all four directions, and hitting up any businesses with 24 hr cameras(gas stations),trying to catch a glimpse of her bright yellow car going by,to at least try to track a route, and find what disposal means ly on that route,i’d follow forensic astologers leads ,they are sharp.HER BRIGHT YELLOW CAR SOMEONE MUST HAVE SEEN IT.
I hear you, but on the forenisc astrologist stuff, I disagree. I have seen that be very off and is highly subjective. I am open if someone would like to give me an example that took only numbers, and not actual investigative case data to prove the outcome.
    B

  26. SUSAN says:

major intersections in all four directions of where tracys’ car was found,i meant to say.A nazi skinhead is a gang, offically organized, nationwide, are these guys official members?if so this is federal organized crime territory, arent there special forces that deal specifically with crimes by this gang.i would assume the official gang doesnt condone infighting over women,or pepole posing as members and murdering.

To my knowledge, we dispelled that this was a gang per se long ago, I believe it is more of a lifestyle among some.
    B

  27. FairestWitness says:

Hi Blink, I am skeptical of the forensic astrology, too. I would be interested to know some hard data on its success rate.

With regard to the dog eat dog world… that’s not exclusive to average working joes. When you have employees, your responsibilities extend to them and their families. A lot of people are counting on you. Employees need to be aware of how much responsibility their bosses have. Paychecks, insurance, rent, taxes, equipment, supplies, utilities, more taxes, more insurance … it never ends. The only guarantee a business owner has is how much it costs to open the door every day. The truth is, we’re all in this together.

And Susan, you’re right about life being difficult when you’re stone-cold sober. Drugs are destructive and lethal. Those who waste their money and time doing drugs are failures, whether they’re employed or not.

James Hataway and his friends may have had hard upbringings, but that does not excuse them from having to provide for themselves or their duty to society. It’s a shame when one endures childhoood abuse, that is a fact I have personal and years long experience with. But, as an adult, I choose my life, I am in control.

Jimmy, if he’s guilty of these heinous crimes, chose to use his unfortunate life’s experiences as an excuse to be a worthless piece of excrement who attacks & murders innocent women. There’s nothing respectable about these choices. It’s a contemptible, indenfensible way to conduct your life.

If there is anyone out there who’s protecting Jimmy because he had a bad life, they’re protecting the wrong person. Having been abused is no excuse to inflict bodily harm on another. If someone out there knows what happened to Jennifer or Tracy, take pity on these innocent victims, instead of Jimmy. Come forward and tell what you know.

  28. SUSAN says:

ok .i get it,even still i think ,ococee*44*mane,is talking to two people, and saying this homestyleboyzgroup doesnt condone the infighting ,and its bringing bad light on the group, paul is about to snitch on the other person, and open a can of worms,if these two fighting over a chic, don’t come clean with their personal (outside of the group )sh*t fast it threathens the group ,and the group is going to have to take care of the snitch.

MJ, you can post here, depending upon content, I will let you know, but at any rate, will be private.
    B

  35. mjh says:

OK, Blink… I wanted to keep this private because of the content and because I don’t want all kinds of crap from people. I know that some people do not believe in this stuff, but I do believe that some people truly have a gift. I correspond with a girl who sometimes can “see things” or “pick things up” on people. Sometimes she is wrong, but sometimes she is “right on”. Although she doesn’t really like to do “missing persons”, I sometimes ask her to try, and she will do it for me. I asked her if she could “pick up” anything at all on Tracy, and this was her response:

The girl is at the end of a road off to the Northwest of where she was driving in the car with the guy. She’s under a log or some brush. Could be the name “Nolan” (or something similar) has something to do with her whereabouts. Name of a road maybe.

Knowing nothing about Florida (I live in NH), I looked at a map of Ocoee. I found a road near Lake Apopka called “Nola Dr”. It looks like from the map I am looking at there is just land or something at the end of this road. Since there are no new leads on this case, and Tracy has not been found yet, I really felt obligated to mention this. Maybe people won’t take it seriously — but, if this was my daughter, I would do ANYTHING to find her. This obviously doesn’t look good for Tracy, as I was hoping for her to be alive somewhere, which is another reason why I didn’t really want to publicly post it. I don’t want to get anyone more upset than they already are (family). Or, if she is there, whoever put her there might read this and move her.

I really feel like someone should search at the end of Nola Dr. (If this area has not been searched already). If you follow Apopka Rd. onto Ocoee Crown Point Pkwy (across from West Rd), take a Right onto Westyn Bay Blvd, 1st Left onto Orsota Circle, around to Nola Dr.

Obviously “Nolan” could be something else. But this just seemed too close to me. I just had to give this information, just in case. You never know. Do with it what you will. If you do pass it along and something comes of it, I also got some information on Haleigh Cummings this way. Never gave the info to anyone, because I really didn’t know who to give it to.

Thank you for your time, and for giving me this “outlet”. I have not been able to get this off my mind all day — it’s just been eating at me. I hope and pray that they find Tracy soon. Thanks Blink, MJH

does anyone have an update on the remains found?

  39. Shannaghan says:

I am familiar and I find it hard to believe that the remains found in Eatonville are Tracy’s remains. The area that they were found in is very rough, even in the day time. Even for tough guy Hataway and his associates. The cadaver dogs did not hit on the car, so he did not transport he body in her vehicle to that location and getting her to go to that location at that time of night would probably be very difficult. It is possible, I guess under certain circumstances… (ie-he wanted to pick up drugs and she went along…) but I doubt it. Something I read or heard seemed to allude to the individual being homeless. Below is the report via WFTV

For those interested, here is some new info from WESH:

    http://www.wesh.com/news/19839573/detail.html

Police searched a septic tank nearby, with no results. Hey, at least they are actively searching/following up on clues… No breakthroughs, however.

  42. wendy says:

So here is my theory. Jimmy Hataway is not the only person involved in this crime. The car was found with both drive seat and passenger seat leaning forward. This tells me there were people in the back seat that needed to get out. I know this is far fetched and I have nothing to base it on really, but I think the group was kidnapping women and holding them in a secret underground place. I believe I read that Jimmy hataway was found to be into the dark arts and those people are usually connected to other’s like themselves. I think they plan these attacks. I think they kidnapped Jennifer also thus the morning abduction. Perhaps they are keeping the girls in a secret place and are using then in their world of dark arts. I think Chris George wanted out, or found out more than he liked and the group killed him. I think this why they can’t find a body. O.K. that was a lot of “I thinks”, but there you go.

  43. renandrj says:

    Wendy,

Tracy could have been in the back seat unconscious, if so Jimmy would’ve had to put both seats up to get her out.

  44. nmac says:

The front seats might have both been pushed forward while the person was checking to make sure they left no evidence behind. They seem to be very careful about this.

  45. Come on says:

Obviously there’s a serial killer/s on the loose….LE better get their act together!

  46. Dee says:

thank you everybody for your attempt in reaching for answers and keeping up your prayers for my counsin Tracy.

  47. wendy says:

Does anyone know if Jennifer’s seats were pushed up? For some reason I thought I read that. Is that the connection?

  48. ScareyCarrie says:

Blink you have been quite for awhile….whats up? everything ok? got a big break in some case for us :D ??? just havent “seen” you much lately ppl asking bout u at SM too. Hope all is well for you

  49. Dee says:

Yes blink plase keep us informed with new details if possible please. At least that’ll keep our Ocasio family’s heads from spinning too much.
Thanks again to all who are also fishing for new answer through whatever sources that may be out there.

I hope that my cousin’s captures develope a conscience that grills them to the point that they must break with any information. Besides with or without their identity I just want our Tracy back. God will get whoever was involved regardless if law enforcement catches the person(s) or not unless the person(s) come clean and/or let our Tracy go.
