Caylee/Casey Anthony Case: Caylees Autopsy Revelations Part I

Orlando, FL– Under heavy objection last Friday afternoon, Judge Stan Strickland denied the motion on behalf of George and Cindy Anthony to seal Caylee Marie Anthonys autopsy until their daughter Caseys capital murder trial in their granddaughters death. Late Friday afternoon, the Findings of Dr. Jan Garavaglia, Chief Medical Examiner of Orange County were released. In Part I, we explore a few of the notable findings, In Development for Part II, Blinkoncrime will be is creating an interactive 3D Model, incorporating the evidence recovery field, bone disbursement pattern, and anatomical example of the duct tape placement.

The Laundry Bag

WhitneyLaundryBagAlthough the report contains a significant amount of anthropologic and forensic data, it does not contain photos or X-Rays, pursuant to the Earnhardt exclusion under Florida Law. Blinkoncrime.com will attempt to offer some observations and in some cases, correct some erroneous information that is being reported in the msm. For starters, the laundry bag picture being circulated, it is incorrect, the image to the left is the correct bag, note the dimensions are exact. The top of this bag does not cinch.

The Duct Tape

I have seen rampant speculation on the duct tape beginning around 15 minutes following the release of the report.  DuctThere are many who believe that Casey Anthony killed her child by wrapping her nose and mouth with duct tape. Allow me to point out the report actually reflects the antithesis of this theory. First, there IS NO TAPE ON THE POSTERIOR of her skull. The only posterior placement of the tape mentioned is still located on the mandible, or face. The tape, which was actually small strips of grey cloth-based, delaminating tape is applied on top of itself, not really feasible with a live toddler. Given the findings that Caylee’s mandible stayed in almost true anatomical position, although slightly posterior and that the hair that was attached to the tape extended from the back of her head and over her head and face, it is likely Caylee was laying on her back when the tape was applied.  Henkel makes 2 kinds of duct tape, one is more Industrial grade of adhesive “hot set” over cloth designed for waterproof and outdoor projects. It has not yet been disclosed which formulation was used.

The O Sign

A contributing poster at blinkoncrime gave me something to think about that had not occurred to me. I am on record stating I do believe that Casey Anthony murdered her daughter, and that she will end up pointing the finger at one or both of her parents as a defense strategy.

However, the duct tape never really fit for me. I have always believed it to be a post mortem tactic to stage a kidnapping. I do believe I may have been wrong. Very well known to medical and critical care professionals, there is something called an O effect; occurring at very near death, or shortly following death and before rigormortis sets in.

Some medical people refer to it when the person is very near death or has just died–the jaw drops open. Nothing left to hold the mandible shut. In morgue kits there is a strap that is applied around the jaw to gently close it before rigor sets in. This “O” sign can be very pronounced and unsettling to see first hand. Casey probably wasn’t aware of this and was really spooked by this silent scream and used the duct tape then put a heart sticker on it as a ________

This makes sense to me. The tape is applied in small strips across the nose and mouth areas, catching her hair in the face over the Coronal plane region. One interpretation that may be drawn is that Caylee was lying on her back, upon seeing what Casey had done to her child as evidenced by the relaxed mandible; she attempted to “fix her”. As if covering up the evidence of death on her baby would change things, complete with a heart sticker. No sooner did I arrive at this conclusion on Saturday, did I see Dr.Michael Baden appear on Geraldo Live on Sunday evening bringing up the mortuary kit issue. I am not saying this idea originated here, not that it would be the first time, but it at least tells me there is corroboration within the forensic Medical community as to the premise. The FBI report on the duct tape has not been released. One thing is certain, what I have been stating all along about Casey’s prints being on the duct tape seems foreboding. With multiple strips of tape, chances are there are several. The defense has had this report for months, is this why Casey Anthony retained Todd Macaluso?

Swim Diaper?

There are several remnants recovered that are described as a diaper or pull ip item. However, there are a few that appear to be strictly synthetic. When I read the report, my immediate reaction based on some of the coloring was that it was a “swimmie”, or disposable swim diaper. After mapping out the dimensions and a closer look, I believe it is actually referring to remnants of both a pull up, a reusable swim diaper, or swim floation/assistance device or both, as pictured here:

CayleeSwim2 CayleeSwim-1 SwimDiaper-2

PrincessDiaper Diapergarbage

Paper Towels

Simply stated there is decomposition fluid on paper towels in the plastic garbage bag found in her trunk that came from Tony Lazzarros apartment.

In my opinion, Casey ripped the bag Caylees remains were in when she moved her body into or out of the trunk to her final resting place in the woods off Suburban. The stain in the trunk, emitting the ungodly stench, was the target of the paper towels after Casey returned to TonE’s apartment. She brought the paper towels and garbage bag out with her in an attempt to clean it up and realized almost immediately it was an excerise in futility. Immediately following are her comments to Amy about George Anthony borrowing her car, and the infamous squirrel stowaway story.

Her Clothes

In contrast to only a stitching remnant with a manufactures tag left of her shirt, Caylees shorts were found nearly 2 ft ft away from the laundry bag, in relatively good condition. Based on the reports findings of trunk and femural animal activity and the corresponding recovery area, I am of the opinion that it is not possible that Caylee was wearing those shorts when she was dumped in the woods. Frankly, given the fact that the actual color stripe pattern was discernable versus the condition of the other items, I am suspect Casey was in those woods more than once. How do you get only the collar of a shirt remaining and her shorts completely intact with no noted damage? Lastly, Caylees shoes if she were wearing any, were not recovered.

wow, Silverspnr… both of your posts pull things together well… will have to re-read tomorrow. Sounds right on to me.

Baez should have pushed hard to get the trial on the docket and over, asap, before the baby was found, before things became so transparent in the behaviours, but it seems he needed to make a lot of hay for himself, first. Plead an accident scenario, something… now it’s too late.

  2. Dondura Miller says:

I have been following this train wreck from the start and I agree with everyone that Casey planned this as a way to hurt her mother. As a person with her psychosis, she could not plan far into the future, so she made mistakes. She could not break her own mothers neck, poison her or do any damage..so she used Caylee as the substitute, as Caylee looked just like her despised mother. Caylee was now talking clearly and would sooner or later spill the beans as to where she really was when mommy had her and she was inconvenient. Benedryl is legal and easy to get and so is tape. This was going to happen and Casey was going to make it happen, this showdown started with her first breath, Casey’s not Caylee’s. George and Lee are only window dressing for these two and Caylee was a pawn in their endless game. As a grandmother, I am stupefied that Cindy would let a month go by without demanding to see Caylee after raising this child for almost 3 years. Perhaps by the time Casey was grown, even Cindy was afraid of her, see her placating her in jailhouse conversations? As for being mad that Cindy held the baby first, that is pure BS invented by Casey. I was not the first family member to hold my children, and my children were not the first to hold theirs. Cindy’s big mistake was to not set perimeters on behavior with this walking time bomb and the interloper. My grand children frequently called me mom, but they KNEW who their mommy was. I considered it the same mistake that little kids do in their first years of school when they call the teacher mom and the mom the teacher’s name. The pavers disappeared from under the playhouse as there was decomp on them and were replaced. I am surprised that Casey did not google “how to make rotten people smell leave my car” as she google’d everything else!

  3. Carolyn S from Maryland says:

I agree with post #876 “Sue” that Casey’s planning probably took the form of fantasizing more than a definite “roadmap” type of plan. The “trigger” of the fight with Cindy not only precipitated the action, but in Casey’s mind probably placed the fault for the murder squarely on Cindy’s shoulders. “My Mom made me do it” is probably the way Casey justified the action.
She didn’t “plan” on what to do with the body until it began to smell. Then she made several attempts to get Jesse to “help” her with the car and when that failed she call Tony. Was there some unformed idea to have them caught with the car? I agree that she abandoned it hoping it would be stolen, hence shifting the blame to some unknown stranger. JMO

I am reminded by a raw angry tyrade (sp?) on the news by George insisting that those pavers were NOT THEIR PAVERS. Methinks he protests too much…..

Mackiezmom my heart goes out to you.. I couldn’t even imagine the pain that would go along with losing a child. :(
I believe when someone commented that your post was exhausting, they meant because of all the work that would go into the theory of cover up from the Anthonys. JMO but I really feel it wasn’t aimed at you or what you have gone through in your life. I have found your posts very well written and with thought… Unlike some posts… Sorry Blink you and others do an amazing job here but some posters don’t seem to get that we are actually trying to read and understand their posts LOL.

Mackiezmom, will be interesting to see how the ‘charges’ and ‘deal’ situation work out for the A-family. What boyfriend? Jesse, but if that doesn’t work out, you are right– who is next ‘in line’? Well, guess who has lawyered up now– Tony Lazzaro. They probably have a blame-scenario figured out for him too– he has NY connections afterall.

Tony is expecting a deposition request soon, from Mn’M. I bet he will be a treat for Mn’M lawyers with full co-operation. Interesting that Mn’M decided to depose him before he can get the A’s back in.

Just read on wftv.com that a mtg between the judge, prosecution and defense was held this morning. October 2009 trial date cancelled. Pretrial/Status hearing set for January 2010. Judge also asked for affidavit from Amy Huizenga stating that she wants to invoke her right to speedy trial for check charges.

And the Oct. trial date has officially been cancelled and replaced with a status date in January 2010.

Strickland wants Amy Huizinger to say she wants a speedy trial.

  10. silverspnr says:

    And now on to Lee…

Recall that July 25th jail visit during which he asks Casey, “Where should I…as far as any areas or places… where should I focus….a search ….or tips, or reaching out to people?”

And Casey responds: “Check… check things locally Lee. In all honesty, places that are familiar to us; to our family. Ask Mom specific places that I’ve mentioned when her and I spoke over the last –(pause, eye roll to check herself)– period of time; over the last few weeks. She should remember specific places.”

RIGHT OFF THE BAT– LOCALLY. PLACES FAMILIAR TO THE ANTHONY CLAN.

The very next day, Casey phones Lee from jail. He asks her, “What, what what do you think… uhhh…Where do you think… .. do you think Caylee’s OK right now?”

And Casey responds, “My gut feeling??…As Mom asked me yesterday…. (and others including the court psychologist asked her that morning) ..my gut feeling is she is still OK. And it still feels like she’s…she’s…she’s close to HOLT.”

Lee jumps on this and says, “OK.”

IN CASEY’S OWN WORDS, CAYLEE IS CLOSE TO “HOLT”.
IS “HOLT” WHAT THEY CALL THE HIDDEN OAKS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL (AMAZINGLY RIGHT BY WHICH CAYLEE’S REMAINS WERE FOUND?)

  11. silverspnr says:

Kleat– good updates. Amy needs to get her victimized self in that courtroom to testify that she wants a speedy trial then.

I hope whomever at Mn’M ends up deposing Anthony Lazarro spends some time on the conversations he had with Casey on June 15, 2008 into the wee hours of June 16, 2008. What did she talk to him about (reveal to him) in the middle of the night??? Might we just get some additional confirmation about the famous Cindy/Casey blow-out on the evening of Father’s Day, again proving that Cindy is a classic LIE-TELLER.

Also… I wonder if Casey stole his roommate’s credit card slip the very first night they met, or subsequently from him personal items/his room during her extended stay at Casa Lazarro during the 2nd half of June? How else would that receipt be in the trash bag in the trunk of her vehicle when it was abandoned by her at the end of June??

  12. NoseyRosey says:

Post 902….I agree with you. I was a young mother. I was 17 when I had my son. The very first night after he was born my mom stayed up and talked to him for almost the entire night. Both of my parents were so in love with him- it made me feel proud….not jealous. Casey learned early on that she could make excuses to her family for her behavior and they would buy it. Personally, I think she liked “playing” mom in front of her friends because it got her attention from them. Cindy was the main care taker until Casey’s friends came around and Casey used Cindy’s relationship with Caylee as a way to get sympathy from her friends. Cindy played right into Casey’s plan at Caylee’s 2nd birthday party (Casey’s friends said the competition was on between Cindy and Casey while opening gifts). As crazy as George and Cindy are I know in my heart that all the BS they spin in the media is just BS, but at the end of the day they have to go to sleep and night and wonder “What If” and that is something I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy.

  13. Dondura Miller says:

I just downloaded the entire autopsy report and it was not as bad as I thought. I was surprised that there were no reports that said that there were finger prints on the duct tape. There appears to be no prints at all that they are reporting. Dr. G and her staff were very thorough in their reports and to be able to find bones as tiny as Caylee’s were was a testament to their skills. The mapping was excellent! Seems that unless they are holding back, the only real evidence they have linking the body to the Anthony’s home will be the Winnie the Pooh quilt. What is the latest that the state can send discovery to the defense in Florida without causing a mistrial?

  14. Dondura Miller says:

    addendum to my #913:
I too was a young mother. I had my first at 17 and by the time I was Casey’s age I had 3 children and was a homeowner. My parents never were (Irish cop with 6 kids) able to give me much of anything, so I got everything the hard way..by working for it. Casey had the world given to her and was told she was the princess and the world was hers to play with and discard at her whim. They never did understand that as a psychopath she really believes that! They just kept compensating for her worsening behavior until IT became normal..

While blogging on another site, I was told that Lyons has a book coming out in January (Caylee Daily). Real interesting. I don’t understand how they can push back the trial date because Lyon’s is teaching. If she took the job, should she not take a leave of absence from teaching as I don’t believe this will be a short trial.

Also heard that there is a blog radio show on July 15, that will be discussing the autopsy report. Does anyone here know if Cindy or George will be there.

  16. martha says:

re #892 silverspur—that is sooo true if the Anthonys after smelling the car in the tow lot WERE looking for the someone that had Caylee–they would have called the police immediately. Just the very fact that George was a policeman and Cindy a nurse, I am sure they recognized the death smell and knew immediately what had happend to Caylee—and to drive that car home and put it in the garage to permeate the house for hours is beyond me. The tow lot guys description of George’s reaction to the car is very significant. i cant follow a lot of what people write here very insightful and detailed but that has always been a turning point for me about George and Cindy and their knowledge. that old saying if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and quacks like a duck it probably is!!!! first thing i do everyday at work is to look at this site. Blink!!! who are you?

  17. Jan says:

I just wanted to post something here that has been very puzzling to me in regards to this whole crazy case. Like I have said before, I have always been an avid reader of CrimeSearchers Online. There used to be a lady on there that went by the name of Zak on the old site and Malibu on the new site. One night in the very beginning of the investigation when I was so obsessed for answers I was chatting with Zak (which is on the west coast) In reports…..way back then…there was information that 2 calls had come in to Casey the day she said that Caylee had called her around noon…..maybe July 15th? One call was from Anthony Lazarro and the other was from a person named Kyle. Zak looked up a missing girl named Donna Jou on America’s Most Wanted website. And, there were two people connected with the Jacksonville Florida area that were listed as persons of interest in her abduction and possible murder. One guy was in custody at the time for a probation violation and the other was only known as Kyle….aka “Skinny Puppy” ……Now months and months later when I want to puts links here for you all to look at yourself….POOF…they are not there. Blink, do you think some information in this case that has been put out to the media have been removed because super sleuthers start analyzing things the LE doesn’t want analyzed? The same thing happened to about 600 YouTube videos that JP Chatt and Lee were featured in….one was super interesting….then POOF….they were gone too!

  18. Dondura Miller says:

For those who have never smelled these things: Animals, people and pizza all smell different when, ummm decomposing. Once you smell people, you never ever mistake that for an animal, hamburger or a pizza. There is no way that Casey could make normal people believe that a squirrel smelled THAT bad. No way could either George or Cindy mistake that smell unless their noses were broken or they were already swimming in the river of denial! Remember that George noticed that pavers were missing near the playhouse? Was there upturned earth there too? I don’t remember reading that. When did Cindy notice the quilt and the laundry bag missing? What about the stuffed toys? Where they are Lee’s house or theirs? I am getting reports of both places..and when did it become apparent they were missing from where ever they were? From what I see, this family IS the definition of dysfunctional..

  21. Kleat says:

Silverspnr, the Fusion (wasn’t it?) receipt of Tony’s roommate, could have been in the garbage that Casey ‘took out’. There was some discussion about the trash between LE and Tony, how Tony’d take his trash out, put it on the tailgate of his Jeep, then leave the tailgate open and drive over to the trash bins (at the aptmt). I’m going on memory here, but think that receipt from the roommate was discussed. Why Casey would take the garbage out, also (IIRC).

Good catch on the HOLT! Not being from the area, I had ‘heard’ it as ‘home’. Never caught HOLT at all, I will have to listen again sometime.

What about Kiomarie Cruz?? What is your take on this person, as a ‘Cindy person of interest/target’ for blame/frame? Cindy asked if there is a Kiomarie Cruz in their neighbourhood. Kiomarie could be the next ‘nanny’ to hang the crime on and if the defense is looking at someone, they wouldn’t let that info out.

    1. Kiomarie knew Casey, could suggest a jealousy over something, school friends have disagreements, maybe they can suggest some grudge from the past as motive. Maybe she can be linked but she works out of town, travels– hopefully she was travelling too much to be a suspect.

    2. Kiomarie’s name suggests she might know some Spanish– the nanny was teaching Caylee to count in Spanish, according to Cindy, she had heard Caylee count up to 30 some (pretty darn good for a toddler!)

    3. Kiomarie thought Cindy did not like her, perhaps because Cindy did not like people of her ethnic background. Maybe Cindy didn’t like her personally, or whatever reason– makes it easier for Cindy to point the finger.

    4. Kiomarie was the person who talked about the place that she and Casey buried and had little services for their pets.

    5. Kiomarie profitted by selling that story to a tabloid (Nat. Enq) and got 20 grand. (but I am suspicious of the major Anthony connections to the media sources from early on, easy for them to send a trash tabloid to entice a young woman to discredit her story, and maybe shed suspicion on her for doing the story– wouldn’t put it past Cindy to arrange this).

    6. Kiomarie is a young woman who might have told the Anthony’s at some time, how she liked Caylee– or some notion that this goes to motive.

I sure hope she’s got an airtight alibi and that she never had a childish school-chum fight with Casey ever that could come back to haunt her.

  22. Kleat says:

Marcy, you will like to read the past articles that are still very relevant for background. Just link to some of the names on the case from the menu, and you can get back to the stories with Blink editorials too– like the background of Todd Macaluso and his problems; the now famous Zani/Annie adventure story, the ABC nights at the Ritz story about crabpuffs and all.

This last story comments have gone a bit amuck, but there’s some really interesting takes too– either that, or we are getting post numbers up for Blink’s stats to show her advertisers!! We’re taking this over a thousand before the next installment arrives!

  23. Kleat says:

If Cindy is a sociopath, that would explain how she can do unto others, before they do unto you– or do unto others to save your sociopath daughter. (or look like you are saving your sociopath daughter but really, ensuring that the family secret (if any) remains tightly sealed. The Anthony’s, if keeping a dark secret from the past, would be able to keep Casey thinking they are doing everything to ensure Casey doesn’t need to come back at them by telling the family secret (if any).

  24. Kleat says:

What I am really looking forward to, is Blink’s cyberartist’s version of today’s meeting of the prosecution and defense with Judge Strickland.

When the Judge left the room to go down the hall to the scheduling clerk, there were some interesting insights from counsellor chit chat– will Jose Baez be applying to American Idol? Oh no– he’s not young enough. But he has to make sure the Casey Case is clear so to not interfere with his Idol watching>??????? ;)

  25. Kleat says:

Dondura Miller, the finger prints won’t be revealed before trial. Besides, the tape was sent off to the lab for processing– that report is not there with the autopsy report as the tape, like the clothes etc, is not part of the autopsy itself. The tape was mentioned in relation to the body as per attachments, placement etc. The latent prints were discussed in another report, previously released. There were no latent prints found as compared to certain people’s prints– but no comparison was revealed about Casey’s prints. So we don’t know, officially that there were or were not prints on the tape. Word has it, that there are prints on the tape. The state does not have to reveal everything it has– afterall, Casey, the defendant, knows if her prints are likely on the tape, so that should not be news to her. She doesn’t know for sure until trial, but she knows if she put the tape there.

But isn’t the zone behind the anthony home or am I wrong?

  27. Sue says:

In response to #855 – chica – It would be rather human to think that Casey is sitting in her jail cell thinking of her deceased daughter, Caylee. She may be thinking of her, but not in the way we would like. We would like her to have remorse, and utter grief in the fact that she murdered her daughter. We would like to think that she spends countless hours torturing herself silly over the thoughts of Caylee’s last moments. We would even like to hope that she is in some way repentive of her murderous ways; but then we would all be very disappointed. In the mind of Casey – the narcissist/sociopath – that would be TOO UNCOMFORTABLE. Sociopaths AVOID discomfort at ALL costs!

She is making the best of a bad situation by writing to all the misguided men and women of her “fan club”. There may even be a lawyer or two who write to her and give her advice. She feels powerful and validated in her new found notoriety with all the attention. Other than the fact that she has lost her freedom, and she can’t do the club scene, she can still feel worthy – in a sick sort of way. She can’t see that she will spend the rest of her life in prison. She can’t face that. In her mind she will beat this and get off. And in her mind she has already justified her actions.

Her days are full. There are new ways to spin her fantasies. There are always new fans to sell herself to and this brings a certain excitement to an otherwise dull existence. There are those who will fall into her trap, and then she will move on to another victim. In a sense she is predatory. She is moving on, but unfortunetly for her, Caylee brings her back. Back to the “uncomfortable feeling” of being arrested and losing her freedom. Of that terrible fight with her mother Cindy and then panicking because she had a dead body in the car to contend with. Casey is the victim – in Casey’s mind – not Caylee.

If Caylee weren’t being thrust into her face everyday because of this trial, Caylee would already be forgotten. I hate to say that because it is so harsh. But remember, Casey does not have the same feelings as most of us. Remember – avoids discomfort at any and all costs.

  33. J.G. says:

    To:#913,

I have to disagree with you on one point. That autopsy has many facts that will nail the coffin shut for Casey. The fact that the duct tape was in strips and was placed before the decomposition had progressed is one thing. That it was still attached to a clump of hair that was on the side of the head that had lain on the downward side…actually protecting it in it’s composistion (IMO)….The fact that tape was still attached to this clump of matted hair is another indicator that the body had been there since it’s disposal. The roots growing into the bones, the leaves that had fallen during the change of seasons…I could go on and on from what I read from the information given to us.

But, remember it has been pointed out to us that the FBI is not bound by the same rules of having to release information as the prosecution is. And from what I am understanding from reading here, the prosecution might not have to release every detail. If I am wrong someone please correct me.

Everyone seem’s to be hung up on this small body in a collapsable lightweight container stuffed in 2 garbage bags & thrown into the woods. I have read where there were so many bags of trash in this area, it could easily pass for a dump site. The thick undergrowth, the water, the mud, the silt…the snakes and rodents…It just doesn’t sound to me like the exact spot that friends talked of younger years of meeting in and burying dead pets. Maybe nearer the school, or in another area. But, it is absolutely to me feasible to see that in the thick underbrush of such a large wooded area that was oft times flooded…a small bag of what could have been presumed as just another bag of trash lay for so many months. But, I absolutely think the forensics will prove beyond a reasonable doubt that it did indeed lie there all those months.

As a nurse who has had to use tape and other adhesive material to secure tubes, IV’s, ect. I can speak for tape. The heat of your body will cause the layers of tape to adhere to each other, forming a water tight bond that I can imagine having fingerprints on them. In changing these sites say after a person has bathed and we protected the site but it still got wet & we go to change it….(say a plastic tube is protected by the layers of tape)….Trying to pull these stips of tape off is impossible. You cannot seperate them. We use scissors to cut the tape off, but, I have tried too many times to try to seperate them from their bond with the next layers and it is just like they have melded into one strip. Not all tape does this but most do. So, can you imagine what layers of duct tape exposed to the heat of a Florida June could quickly do? I guess that is what the FBI knows….exactly how to seperate them and get the fingerprint(s).

Can we please start a thread on the Michael Jackson case as I have a feeling it is going to heat up worse than Anna Nicole except there is a different class of people that are the players in this one. Could be interesting?

Nancy, thanks but at this time I have no plans to report on Michael Jackson, however, I suspect there is a thread on sm already.

    Responding to comment by boo — July 7, 2009 @ 7:13 pm

Kiomarie Cruz’s two OCSO interviews were released back on August 23, but nothing has ever been released in discovery stating when The Zone was searched as a follow-up to her tip on July 19. I will believe the search occurred shortly after her interview unless discovery is released that says otherwise. She called Detective Wells at 8:30pm on a Saturday night, and he asked her to meet him at the school 90 minutes later (10:00pm on Saturday night) to point out the exact area of The Zone.

Hers was a gold standard tip; not at all something that OCSO would have sat on for almost three weeks.

When Detective Wells looked at the Anthony backyard on July 17 around 5:30pm and saw a depressed area near the pool, he called John Allen and by 7:00pm several units (CSIs and K9s) were at the house. Three K9 personnel showed up (K9 Corporal Mike Carden and two other K9 handlers) and stayed until midnight. Nancy Grace had a reporter covering the story from the Anthony house, and Nancy said she saw German Shepherd dogs (plural). Two dogs searched the backyard separately that night, and a third K9 dog was sent to the Anthony house the next day, June 18, at noon to sniff an area of bushes in the backyard.

That’s three K9 units pulled together in less than 24 hours. It does not take days to set up a K9 search, and given the high quality of Kiomarie’s tip, I simply do not believe OCSO waited long at all before sending a cadaver dog to check The Zone.

The Zone is not in the wooded area directly behind the Anthony backyard. It is in the wooded area behind the elementary school. It’s difficult to describe because the elementary school is ringed with woods – there must be several acres of woods around the school, which is the reason for the confusion regarding Kronk’s Crimeline tip. Deputy White saw the tip, asked Yuri Melich if the area had been searched with a K9, and Melich said yes. White assumed that the woods Melich referred to included the specific lot Kronk was calling about.

The July 24 tip to Crimeline originally stated that the Anthonys had poured a concrete slab in their backyard on the weekend of July 4. They had not, and they would not have been able to pour concrete without a permit. It’s possible they put some new pavers down – I don’t know.

George said in his ZG deposition that the pavers in the Anthony backyard are pink and have been there for years. Cindy said in her ZG deposition that the pavers in the Anthony backyard are peach and 16 x 16, not white and 12 x 12 like the pavers in the Hoover video. If you watch the video of Greta’s visit to the Anthonys’ house on August 6, you can see 16 x 16 peach pavers under the playhouse and ringing the pool.

That’s all I have heard about the pavers.

I know even less about the dog hits in the backyard. Just as nothing has been released in discovery about the K9 search of The Zone, nothing has been released about where exactly in the backyard of the Anthony house those dogs hit or did not hit. All I know from reading the discovery is that there were at least two dog & handler teams checking the backyard on the night of July 17 and one dog & handler team checking the backyard at noon on July 18. If the two dogs were hitting on different areas on the night of July 17 (as Cindy claimed to Greta), then it makes sense that a third dog was brought in on July 18.

Someone in a comment somewhere mentioned that when Casey gave the gas cans back to George on June 24 (cans that had been in her trunk and possibly on top of the decomp stain), maybe George put them down in the backyard when doing yardwork and the transfer decomp accounts for one or more K9 hits. I hadn’t thought of that, but it’s certainly a possibility.

However, since the gas cans were in the smelly trunk and possibly sitting in decomp fluid, I don’t understand why we didn’t hear about one of those dogs alerting on George’s shed where the cans were stored. Those cans weren’t picked up by OCSO until August 1.

Lots of questions, and only sometimes are the answers I’m looking for in the discovery we get.

Thanks for your response! I enjoy reading your posts you bring alot to light , regarding casey and her sick demented mind! I have thought from the begining that casey was happy with the notoriety that she has. In her sick mind she has used her daughters death(by her own hands) as a tool to become famous for all the wrong reasons! I totaly agree with your comments! I guess I wanted to hear it from someone else what I already felt in my heart. these people that write her(her fan club) are just as sick as she is! I cannot believe how stupid and gullable people can be. I assume that she is still recieving money from fans that put money on her books!! It goes with the territory, I recall bundy and scott peterson getting letters from men and women that wanted to be friends with someone that was famous for the wrong reasons!
I am also blown away by the never ending actions of her parents and brother! these people have a serious case of dysfunction, they do and say the most bazaar things! how can they live with themselves! by living in serious 100% denial?
I have no doubt that casey in her sick twisted mind thinks that she will walk away from this to tan on the beach as she herself said. Her lawyer is another story he is inept to say the least. I hear he has a complaint before the bar! I PRAY for justice for little caylee who did not deserve to be born into that sick deprived family of idiots. we come here to try to sort this mess out and make some sense of why and how this could have gone down. all the characters involved. I can see that casey has no one to come foward on her behalf as a character witness to speak good of her.
because there is no good to tell!!!
    thanks for listening

To #895 midwestmom. I read your post and I remember the questons you had asked in post #542 and I gave my short answer at the time. I respect your viewpoint. But now I would like you to consider this? In the end it will be decided by 12 people what casey fate will be. 12 people who will be asking for answers to similar questions in post #542.. We shall have to wait and see.but would it have been better for casey to have used the proper resourses available rather than her own?.if she had it would have saved those 12 unfortunate jurors the pain they will surely feel when they see those autopsy photos.

  40. Kleat says:

I was listening to the Lee + Casey jail video of July 25. Didn’t hear the HOLT comment, must have missed it– caught the other parts that Silverspnr mentioned.

But did notice again, the ‘list’ of trustworthy people, a list named by Lee as Casey commented if she thought they were trustworthy or not. Lee had a plan, he would name them in ‘order’ for a reason. Then after getting direct answers from Casey, who wasn’t hiding her thoughts about her friends, Lee said he would investigate them further and ‘keep friends close and enemies closer’.

By this time, Casey was annoyed at Tony for not coming to visit her at the jail, so her answer about him was that she would ‘like to say yes (trustworthy) but she was ‘on the fence about him as she told her brother to ‘use your discretion’ about Tony. (was Lee trying to keep LE ‘closer’ as ‘enemies’ when he led them to think he was advising people like Annie to not to lie for Casey, or telling them things about his mother’s actions/comments on July 15th evening).

Interesting that when Lee listed Jesse’s name, she said that she hadn’t been to Jesse’s house (or apartment), he moved everything out of his apartment but that she had been to his apartment a couple times that year. Not recently she implied.

So I went to look at Richard Grund’s transcript of Sept 5 interview again where he talks about the morning Casey came to visit Jesse and to ask for a shower. No date, or timeline discussed– the impression is, that this was during the ‘missing month’.

Strange– Casey making a point of saying that she didn’t visit Jesse recently, yet there is the ‘shower’ story that alerted Richard Grund about Casey’s intentions possibly to gather something to implicate Jesse. (does Jesse’s interview give a date?– will have to check)

Another strange thing– Casey had given her mom about 30 CD’s of pictures. 30!!! And not one of the nanny, the nanny’s apartment (she got caught out on the photo she claimed was Zani’s when Cindy learned it was Ricardo’s), and not one of Zani during the ‘hanging out’ at Hard Rock, not one taken by Zani of Caylee.

Why wouldn’t Cindy ask Casey for Zani’s phone number where she could contact her to be able to speak to Caylee to say hello. Caylee was getting to the age where she could say hi on the phone. Was Caylee also getting towards the age where she would be able to ‘tell’ on Casey?

Cindy could have learned from Casey’s friends where Casey was– she could have drawn them in to help her call Casey back home with Caylee because there was a ‘family emergency’. Casey might not have cared, but her friends could have believed that and found Casey for her parents. (afterall, Cindy said she ‘made up’ the 911 calls, saying what she needed to to get what she wanted)

So much doesn’t fit the common sense test.

I’m sorry blink, but what happened to the 48 hrs??? Yes, 48 hrs you stated was the time that would pass until you provided your loyal readers with additional info about this case? I love you, Blink. But it’s been over a week since we heard from you… And Happy 4th to all Americans!!!

Jill, thank you for being a loyal reader. We are working diligently on an interactive piece that has required two seperate builds but will be worth the wait, I promise. It will not be “new” information but the content will be “virtual” and allow the reader/user to get a “real time” experience of the crime scene and autopsy labs.

Why would ANY Grandfather make a comment that ‘this time he wanted to do it right’ (in regard to HIS RAISING Caylee)…..NO grandfather would period. Same as in his FBI interviews..he made similar comments about HE being the one that wanted to walk her down the aisle..buy her her first car….worried about HIS age??????? He admitted a ton of stuff there.

  43. Kleat says:

Another note from the July 25th jail Lee/Casey visit that is timely for today, with the lawyer’s meeting with Strickland– Baez and prosecution had a back and forth about that for a few seconds, and who would be taking the photos and Baez wanted notice so he could be there. (He’s not even trusting Casey to be alone at all with visitors)

Lee’s comment was about the tattoo– Casey’s response to him and the listening ears, was ‘it is Caylee related’.

Lee went on to say he and the family were available to pass along any messages she wanted to get to the media. Casey didn’t take the opportunity to tell the media about the tattoo, and explain that it was for the love of Caylee being the beautiful life, or something similar. She did not take that opportunity– easy, had it been the truth but she didn’t even think along those lines. (I’m sure Baez and Lyon will fill in that gap with their version at trial )

  44. Kleat says:

(which tattoo– the one she ‘got’, or the one she was going to get the next Saturday, had she not been caught by her mom?)

The defense could come up with the story that the next tattoo, was to actually add Caylee’s name, baby or mother theme, to ‘the good life’. That would be a good defense move– changes the whole meaning of ‘the good life’ tattoo.

  45. Kleat says:

Casey was at Jesse’s place (house apparently, not apartment), for a shower on July 1st, 2008 (as per Jesse’s Sept 5 interview). Vs what she told Lee on video.

Also in Jesse’s Sept 5 interview, was the story of ‘choking’, which Lee told Jesse about but Casey never mentioned to Jesse. Jesse didn’t know if Lee was tricking him or not, by giving him this choking story. (enemies closer…)

Maybe the defense can wipe out the choking story– blaming it on Jesse as Lee can then say he was using it to try to trick Jesse. (but then, maybe Lee was trying to learn if Casey spilled the beans on the choking incident and was trying to see if Jesse already knew about the incident).

  46. Julie says:

……….MY POINT IS THAT IF CASEY IN HIS OR CINDY’S OPINION SUFFERED FROM ANY FORM OF MENTAL problem(s) why on earth would they have her / actually insist on her keeping a baby to begin with. It was all fishy from the start. I have never even seen 1 photo or video of Caylee ever playing with 1 other child. You will never see a video of Casey and Caylee alone even interacting……unless other people are present.

    Kleat-
We are definitely going to push the 1000 post envelope here.

It is amazing you bring up Kiomarie. It is easy to allow oneself to wonder about her.

Perhaps Casey drew bits and pieces of her phantom Nanny profile from Kio?

The name. Hispanic. And first name, followed by 2 “last” names. (I know this varies by culture, but someone already spoke to this, so I’ll just leave it at that).

The jealousy she had toward Casey. Fairly obvious, don’t you think? She states herself that she cannot bear a child, and wanted Caylee for herself, all the way back when Casey first told her of the pregnancy. Kio told LE that she not only wanted to adopt Caylee, but that she was able to do it, at 19, no less, because she “had a lot of money”. Before hearing this from Kio, didn’t you find it utterly absurd that, according to Casey, “Zanny” had “a lot of money”?–
Do nannies typically (ever??) have “a lot of money”??! If so, why would they be working as child-care givers??! That is a very TOUGH job, and is not up there on the compensation scale. It is not only physically demanding, it requires your utmost attention at all times, because toddlers, especially age 2-3, can get into trouble in a heartbeat if you are not paying attention.

(*Did anyone ever inquire about how Casey paid this phantom Nanny? Assuming, arguendo, she had actually EVER HAD a nanny that she PAID to watch/care for Caylee on a daily basis while she was “at work”… Wouldn’t she also have had to face charges on the tax issue alone? Our tax laws require those who actual employ a nanny on this level to withhold portions of their pay/ which also requires them to get an EIN (employer ID Number), provide the nanny with a W-2 form, etc. –OR– to make certain that the Nanny is paying said taxes on her own…
    BUT I DIGRESS.)

Kio also clearly harbors resentment toward Cindy. Without Kio, we never would have heard that Cindy did not want Casey to bring Hispanics into her home (or at least that Casey claimed to Kio that Cindy was, in essence, a racist).

Kio also offered up the location where the body was found. But apparently others can/have confirmed that this was, indeed, a neighborhood/childhood hang-out, and that pets were, indeed, buried there. For the record, there were woods behind my suburban neighborhood where many kids hung out/rode their bikes/had secret club meetings, and yes.. held little funeral services/buried their beloved small pets who had passed–generally a mouse or a hamster– in coffee cans.

Kio DID also offer up to LE that the first person she would go to if SHE was in trouble or did something bad was.. you guessed it…our favorite neighbor (the one who had Cindy pegged as “the Devil” of the block), and guess what? She decides to pay him a visit within days of the public report that Caylee was “missing”, and just happens to mention “the ZONE” to him, etc.

And on and on, to the point where you could ALMOST start to believe that Casey was leaving Caylee with Kio on occasion–and since the big fight with Cindy (again, taking advantage of someone she knew who would watch her child for free while she ran around and partied/got tattoos/manicures/caught a movie, etc)–and that Kio had finally had enough/learned that Casey was not working (as did Richard Grund and Lauren Gibb earlier), and instead of just telling Casey to find some other dupe, she decided to keep Caylee for herself for a while, to “teach you (Casey) a lesson!”

And then.. Casey’s legal team could argue that her reaction to the find of Caylee’s remains on the TV was actually REAL GRIEF/ABJECT HORROR, because the person she knew for years, and trusted with her beloved baby, had actually MURDERED HER!! (CUE DRAMATIC MUSIC and looks of SHOCK on the faces of the JUGDE/JURY/COURTROOM STAFF/PROSECUTORS, ETC!!)
YEAHHHH…. ALMOST. (OK.. not even almost)

That sounds a whole lot like like a bad tv show episode, doesn’t it? (One Tree Hill, anyone? I know the story lines diverge, but Casey just loves to weave bits and pieces of other stories into her web of lies, doesn’t she.)

SO.. HOLD THE PHONE, because the devil’s advocate happens to have NUMEROUS advocates himself.

There is far too much evidence –actual, factual evidence– against Casey to easily debunk the “Kio is the ‘nanny’” argument.

Instead of going over it all in detail, let me just say this:

Caylee was clearly dead days in advance of the date Casey abandoned her vehicle (direct, forensic evidence that Caylee’s decomposing body had been in that trunk), not to mention the cadaver dog hits in the Anthony back yard. Plus…if Kio had been holding Caylee, Casey would have said Kio at the start. Why bother with the phantom Nanny story at that point? To protect Kio??? Nahhhhhhhh. To protect her family from Kio??! Who is still busy watching Caylee, but has time to go to work/visit with neighbors/meet with LE??? WOW. That Kio is some multi-tasker!

If Kio either had Caylee.. or killed Caylee.. why on earth was Cindy busy washing Casey’s pants on July 15th BEFORE CALLING 911.

HUH???? LAUNDRY IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN FINDING YOUR GRANDCHILD WHO YOU PUBLICLY STATED WAS “MISSING” ALL THE WAY BACK ON JULY 3RD on MYSPACE???!!! The whole Zenaida story was cooked up in the home on the evening of July 15th. Lee was sent to Tony’s not just to gather a bag of smelly clothing. He was sent there to get that laptop… and erase it.

And don’t you think Cindy was desparately trying (in vain) to figure out a way to get the smell out of that car for Casey as well?? NO WAY would you have that car in your GARAGE which is ATTACHED TO YOUR HOME FOR ALL THOSE HOURS, unless you are trying to figure out a way to sanitize it, all the while working on a script to point LE in a hundred crazy directions, AWAY FROM your child/your family. (including the stories about where Casey said she and/or Caylee were that whole month, which she could not even keep straight when she met with LE, despite her binder of NOTES)

In my considered opinion, there is NO WAY that she and George did not KNOW FOR CERTAIN that Caylee was dead the second George got within a few feet of and smelled that car. Sadly, I also believe that if Casey had only taken them to Caylee’s dead body.. they would have tried to cover up the murder as well. That’s what the Anthonys do. They hide shameful secrets.. until Cindy, in a rage, blurts them out.

Cindy is a quite the hothead, isn’t she? (gross understatement).Even before her antics at the civil case deposition (where people, no matter how angry they are, generally attempt to show a better face), she just cannot control herself. Recall when she was thrusting a hammer at REPORTERS, hurling insults at them– calling them, among other things, “maggots”, yelling at them to go find Caylee, all the while banging those NO TRESPASSING signs into her yard?? WHO BEHAVES IN THAT MANNER?! (someone who is ENRAGED/possibly keeping a very sick secret??)

And on the evening of July 15, 2008, she allowed her anger to get the best of her, and called 911… and called 911.. and called 911. Would it take any other concerned grandmother THAT MANY CALLS TO 911 to FINALLY, FINALLY MENTION THAT CAYLEE WAS “MISSING” FOR OVER A MONTH?

    Anyway-
Yes.. there are some oddities here relating to Kio,–and she comes across as somewhat suspicious by virtue of her own presentation– but oddities and suspiciousness are not only not a crime, they do not even add up to reasonable doubt here.

Yes–go listen to that call with Lee from the jail again. She clearly says, “HOLT”. I initially glossed over that, and thought she said, close to “home”, but that “T” is pronounced. H.O.L.T.–Hidden Oaks L? T? (Elementary??)

  49. Kleat says:

Strange that ‘directions’ link on the HOLT website, gives an address nowhere near Suburban. https://www.ocps.net/lc/southeast/ehd/schoolinfo/Pages/directions.aspx Same school, wonder why they put the different ‘directions’ address on the site that links to MapQuest, except to divert attention away from the school’s physical location. Casey Anthony doesn’t have that much power, does she? The actual address is listed on the page of course.

  50. silverspnr says:

    Kleat-
Casey’s “HOLT” comment did not occur during the jailhouse visit audio from 7/25. Rather, it took place on 7/26 during a phone call (not IN the jail) with Lee. No video, only audio. I don’t have a link to it offhand, but I’ll search when I get a few minutes.
