Caylee/Casey Anthony Case: Caylees Autopsy Revelations Part I

Orlando, FL– Under heavy objection last Friday afternoon, Judge Stan Strickland denied the motion on behalf of George and Cindy Anthony to seal Caylee Marie Anthonys autopsy until their daughter Caseys capital murder trial in their granddaughters death. Late Friday afternoon, the Findings of Dr. Jan Garavaglia, Chief Medical Examiner of Orange County were released. In Part I, we explore a few of the notable findings, In Development for Part II, Blinkoncrime will be is creating an interactive 3D Model, incorporating the evidence recovery field, bone disbursement pattern, and anatomical example of the duct tape placement.

The Laundry Bag

WhitneyLaundryBagAlthough the report contains a significant amount of anthropologic and forensic data, it does not contain photos or X-Rays, pursuant to the Earnhardt exclusion under Florida Law. Blinkoncrime.com will attempt to offer some observations and in some cases, correct some erroneous information that is being reported in the msm. For starters, the laundry bag picture being circulated, it is incorrect, the image to the left is the correct bag, note the dimensions are exact. The top of this bag does not cinch.

The Duct Tape

I have seen rampant speculation on the duct tape beginning around 15 minutes following the release of the report.  DuctThere are many who believe that Casey Anthony killed her child by wrapping her nose and mouth with duct tape. Allow me to point out the report actually reflects the antithesis of this theory. First, there IS NO TAPE ON THE POSTERIOR of her skull. The only posterior placement of the tape mentioned is still located on the mandible, or face. The tape, which was actually small strips of grey cloth-based, delaminating tape is applied on top of itself, not really feasible with a live toddler. Given the findings that Caylee’s mandible stayed in almost true anatomical position, although slightly posterior and that the hair that was attached to the tape extended from the back of her head and over her head and face, it is likely Caylee was laying on her back when the tape was applied.  Henkel makes 2 kinds of duct tape, one is more Industrial grade of adhesive “hot set” over cloth designed for waterproof and outdoor projects. It has not yet been disclosed which formulation was used.

The O Sign

A contributing poster at blinkoncrime gave me something to think about that had not occurred to me. I am on record stating I do believe that Casey Anthony murdered her daughter, and that she will end up pointing the finger at one or both of her parents as a defense strategy.

However, the duct tape never really fit for me. I have always believed it to be a post mortem tactic to stage a kidnapping. I do believe I may have been wrong. Very well known to medical and critical care professionals, there is something called an O effect; occurring at very near death, or shortly following death and before rigormortis sets in.

Some medical people refer to it when the person is very near death or has just died–the jaw drops open. Nothing left to hold the mandible shut. In morgue kits there is a strap that is applied around the jaw to gently close it before rigor sets in. This “O” sign can be very pronounced and unsettling to see first hand. Casey probably wasn’t aware of this and was really spooked by this silent scream and used the duct tape then put a heart sticker on it as a ________

This makes sense to me. The tape is applied in small strips across the nose and mouth areas, catching her hair in the face over the Coronal plane region. One interpretation that may be drawn is that Caylee was lying on her back, upon seeing what Casey had done to her child as evidenced by the relaxed mandible; she attempted to “fix her”. As if covering up the evidence of death on her baby would change things, complete with a heart sticker. No sooner did I arrive at this conclusion on Saturday, did I see Dr.Michael Baden appear on Geraldo Live on Sunday evening bringing up the mortuary kit issue. I am not saying this idea originated here, not that it would be the first time, but it at least tells me there is corroboration within the forensic Medical community as to the premise. The FBI report on the duct tape has not been released. One thing is certain, what I have been stating all along about Casey’s prints being on the duct tape seems foreboding. With multiple strips of tape, chances are there are several. The defense has had this report for months, is this why Casey Anthony retained Todd Macaluso?

Swim Diaper?

There are several remnants recovered that are described as a diaper or pull ip item. However, there are a few that appear to be strictly synthetic. When I read the report, my immediate reaction based on some of the coloring was that it was a “swimmie”, or disposable swim diaper. After mapping out the dimensions and a closer look, I believe it is actually referring to remnants of both a pull up, a reusable swim diaper, or swim floation/assistance device or both, as pictured here:

CayleeSwim2 CayleeSwim-1 SwimDiaper-2

PrincessDiaper Diapergarbage

Paper Towels

Simply stated there is decomposition fluid on paper towels in the plastic garbage bag found in her trunk that came from Tony Lazzarros apartment.

In my opinion, Casey ripped the bag Caylees remains were in when she moved her body into or out of the trunk to her final resting place in the woods off Suburban. The stain in the trunk, emitting the ungodly stench, was the target of the paper towels after Casey returned to TonE’s apartment. She brought the paper towels and garbage bag out with her in an attempt to clean it up and realized almost immediately it was an excerise in futility. Immediately following are her comments to Amy about George Anthony borrowing her car, and the infamous squirrel stowaway story.

Her Clothes

In contrast to only a stitching remnant with a manufactures tag left of her shirt, Caylees shorts were found nearly 2 ft ft away from the laundry bag, in relatively good condition. Based on the reports findings of trunk and femural animal activity and the corresponding recovery area, I am of the opinion that it is not possible that Caylee was wearing those shorts when she was dumped in the woods. Frankly, given the fact that the actual color stripe pattern was discernable versus the condition of the other items, I am suspect Casey was in those woods more than once. How do you get only the collar of a shirt remaining and her shorts completely intact with no noted damage? Lastly, Caylees shoes if she were wearing any, were not recovered.

Hi Everybody – I’ve been reading here for a few weeks now after stumbling upon this website. I must say – there are a lot of you with some VERY good ideas on what really happened to Caylee. One question for you all – as I have missed a few days reading & it’s so very hard to catch up. Has anybody ever brought up the idea that when Cindy & Casey had that blow-out fight on 6/15 is when Caylee got into the pool & drowned? It would explain what I see as a massive cover-up by the whole Anthony family.

  3. ros says:

    Combing back through things,
In the evidence report, the cadaver dog investigation in the Anthony’s backyard shows pictures of the sites that were marked, playhouse pavers, depression by the pool, and by the screened porch. I am intrigued about 2 things.
    1. George tells them about the depressed area by the pool.It says that is why they are looking in the back yard. It is mentioned that spot measured 12″w and 5″deep. Why didn’t they discover this during their July 4 makeover?
Or is this where he and Cindy uncovered ‘something’
definitive?–some hair? Cindy asked Casey in a jailhouse video about
who cut Caylee’s hair, Casey reacted strongly that no one but her
has cut Caylee’s hair. -sorry side tangent–Anyway…

    2. If the pavers were replaced, isn’t there a record of the new purchase. When did they first install the playhouse? Shouldn’t pavers last longer than that? Also, just to clarify possibility of misstatement of cement being poured mentioned in #935, the evidence report calls the pavers ‘cement squares’ and gives the measurement of the floor as 6′x 6′, not as we are discussing them in terms of individual pavers. (Maura #935 you’re guess of possible new pavers makes more sense.)
I am intrigued by George calling attention to that area of disturbed soil because of my feeling that he was cooperating with police very early on and had been playacting the concerned parent role to get information out of Casey. I think his suicide attempt was a breaking point when he realized that it was not an accident. This was his hopeful hold out the whole time, that she would admit to an accident. His anger with police is directed to Zaneida’s attorneys, not with Le in general. Or, was he playing LE that he was playing Casey?

The more we know, the more there is to know.
In my digging, I reread Jesse’s interview 31 July transcript. He discusses his theory that possibly an accident happened and among, choking on rocks, and eating dog biscuits, he mentions sliping when THEY were exiting the pool. That seemed very specific. How would you think of a pool accident that involved the adult as well. as THEy exited the pool.
He also volunteers that he thinks THE FIRST place that Casey would place Caylee would be inside of the playhouse. On July 31, we didn’t know of any other locations. He kept repeating the first place she would put her.
He also stumbles on the question of whether he thinks she had help. He immediately deflects the answer from being himself and suggests Tony L.
I don’t know. I had read all of this before and cleared Jesse in my mind. Questions are back. Anyone else making these connections?

Also, Kleat #940, Jesse’s interview date was 31 July, he made the notation of Casey’s shower visit to have been on 1 July between 10:30am – 12noon.
His calendar notes also show a note that says ‘went back with gas cans’ on 31 June.

Kiomarie is bizzare, now she is going by the name of mrs wilson?? http://www.myspace.com/misskio

how many names does this girl have? and where did the name Cruz come from? is ZFG one of her aliases?

She does have dogs and is from Butner, North Carolina. Her step-mother, tatiana torres states she rarely sees Kio, however kio pops in right in the beginning. I probably shouldn’t say this, however I have often wondered how a profiler would view her, many kidnappers are from women who cant have children and she appears to me to be a lot like a firestarter. It will be interesting if or when we find out who tipped off DC and KW.

I wonder if she knows of KW from “back in the day”? Both KW and Kio injected themselves into this case. Looks as if they approached LE before they could be approached. I also found it odd that KW didn’t know the names of Kronk or DC since he was doing his own investigation to help.

Also did anyone think it was odd that his actions explained any sightings of him in the woods carrying “trash bag” and “a shovel”? My thoughts are that the number one suspect would be witnessed at crime seen with 1)carrying garbage bag and 2) shovel

And most of our views of casey was first mentioned from kios. Kio was the one that said that casey didn’t want caylee, so is this fact or just information?

Kio was the first to mention the pet cemetery and the sticker.
that was the first time that I thought yep casey did it)and I am not sure but I think that KW was the only other person that mentioned the pet cemetery. (please correct me if I am wrong)

And kio was also the one that stated that Casey “bi-polar” and has issues and that casey can be mean when she drinks.

And I don’t have any information on her boyfriend.

IMO people in this neighborhood talked.I don’t think it would be hard at all to know the A’s routine there would have to be a whole lot of guess work to analyze when the house was empty. The tip about the pavers had to come from someone in the neighborhood. If casey had the habit of leaving her door unlocked as she did at amscot is it so unbelievable that her car could have been tampered with at any point in time?

I might prepare to don my slicker if I were you MM, no disrespect, but your missing a ton of data on your theory and there are no posters on this case than blinkoncrime.com

Awesome post Silver #948. For some reason for this whole year I haven’t been able to think of the grandparents in this way. I guess I just couldn’t fathom any grandparent covering up the murder of a grandchild no matter who did it… But then, like I have stated in the past, I have younger children (6 and 5) and they talk and have talked for years to their grandparents about their daycare and about what they do during the day there and even talk by name who they spend their days with.. Caylee was clearly vocal from the video that was shot on Father’s day and with her living in the same house as C and G they would have talked to her about her days and how she spent them..

  7. Kosmo says:

    To post #952 MM.

Or maybe she contacted LE right away because she knew the true Casey and genuinley cared about Caylee and what might have happened to her..

  8. Kosmo says:

I just listened to the phone call very carefully… She did not say home.. It sounded clear as day as HOLT..

I picked up from Lee on this call though that he was really trying to get to the bottom of things.. It didn’t seem to me like he wasn’t be truthful but was really trying to get Casey to open up and “tell the truth”

  9. susanm says:

comment #952 i do believe i theorized on that in comment #743 difference is ,seems you color it accident i color somewhere between moment of rage, cold blooded ,and instant premed,(as per kleat) and premeditated. #955, oh so much to say ,where to start, how bout backwards,so that way you dont have to go so far,to sum it all up if someone else put caylee in casey’s trunk without her knowledge, she and her family would have to be clinically insane,to be in a death penalty murder trial, cost $$$$$$$ involving tax payers $$$$$$,simply said cindy would chasing every possible suspect with her hammer.

  10. Kleat says:

    Lee: “where do you think?…”

Casey: ‘…it still feels she’s … she’s close to holt’

Interesting how the two structured their sentences. Slips in the answer by masking it with ‘gut feeling (like a psychic) that she’s “still”, but then she breaks off that with hesitation, starts again with ‘she’s close to holt’. Knowing that this would be read by observers as ‘my gut feeling is that she’s still close to home’.

I have another question– during this time, Casey was not charged with murder and the investigation was obviously ongoing. All the talk about privacy, how to make things private so no one, even Baez, could read them. Could they really keep non-lawyer involved, communications ‘private’ when there was an ongoing investigation? Couldn’t the state have the equivalent of a ‘tap’ on written communications from Casey to find out where a ‘kidnapped and in-danger’ child was really at, because the story was from the family, that the child was in danger.

  11. Kleat says:

Thanks Silverspnr, got it! It is very clear. The two talked about similar things on the video, that’s where I went wrong. They seemed to be quick enough to slip in clues amidst the conversation sentences. The whole thing is very strange– Lee says he’s learned that you can’t talk in generalities with LE (as if he’s cajoling Casey or ‘handling’ her, but maybe not– maybe what he’s really doing is setting Casey straight on what he’s going to ask next– asks a double question, wanting a specific answer to only one of them– ‘where’ is Caylee? Casey in turn, gives an answer to the two questions, one she feels she is ‘still’ alright in her gut, and the second answer to ‘where is she?’ with the second part of her answer… ‘she’s close to holt’.

Slick… very slick. And Lee would have been able to record Casey’s conversation for the family to review again. They would not have missed this. They have minds (like Lee said) like steel traps.

  12. Kosmo says:

I admire all the hard work everyone here puts into this case!! your comments are very enlightening . keep up the good work… hopefully someday we can see justice prevail for an innocent child that had to loose her life…perhaps she has been spared a life like casey at the hands of her mother. which is no excuse for murder because I would be the first to put the needle into her veins if I could!!! children are helpless…THANKS FOR LISTENING!!!

  18. Kleat says:

chica, read that again, and check what source because the lawyers had a meeting with the judge, they didn’t have second meeting today. The January date was a ‘status hearing’ (‘slash trial’ to leave things open but not write it in stone), if they got a trial date to start in January, there is still the matter of picking a DP jury and the question of the motion to move the trial away from Orlando. That would take more time.

  19. boo says:

Pst #935 maura….what I found interesting about that 7/24 tipster report on concrete or pavers was the date. The by search was over by then and media was all over it. I’m curious to know if justin ever had a (chat) with someone else. Keith does not mention pavers to blink in his interviews and neither did rk or kiomarie. So who called in that tip and why after the by search was over?

  20. Kleat says:

Maybe they should give Casey a view into the general pop living quarters and routines. She won’t be queen-controller in there. Maybe a reality check is in order for her, because Lyons could herself, have another agenda and once she invests her time and resources to prepare for trial, she’s not going to want Casey to back out on all that, nor on the important agenda of politics and the DP in Florida.

  22. Maura says:

    Boo,

Found in Yuri Melich’s supplemental report dated February 5, 2009 (discovery page 3385):

“The area described in [Roy Kronk’s August 12] Crimeline tip was vague, and the swamp area on Suburban Drive rather large. Deputy Jason Forgery and his cadaver dog had checked the east end of Suburban Drive in July so it was presumed that this area was also checked. This tip was cleared based on this. As a note, Deputy Forgery responded to the area where the body was found after its discovery and I asked if he had ever deployed his cadaver dog there. He said he had not, and they had focused their efforts to the east end of Suburban Drive and the area of the school.”

I would say it’s almost certain that Forgery was referring to Kiomarie’s tip when he said his dog had checked that area in July (she gave her tip on July 19).

If the reporters on Nancy Grace witnessed or heard about a K9 search on Suburban that took place on August 5, then that search was in addition to the search of The Zone that happened in July. And Nikki Pierce did say she believed the August 5 K9 search was responding to a tip that had come in the same day as the search (August 5).

I have no idea who may have called in the August 5 tip, but KW did say he ran into some reporters on Suburban Drive on August 5. Maybe one of them called in a tip or maybe they had heard the same tip that LE heard.

  23. Kleat says:

Chica– who knows when trial will be actually scheduled because Casey is not demanding a speedy trial, she never did. Sure hope the judge doesn’t let the civil trial or the fraud trial go by the wayside in these delays.

Comment #959 – I don’t believe this was an “accident”. But I do believe that the Anthony family – Lee included – covered up what they knew. There’s just no other explanation for their behavior and the weird twists & turns and changes in the stories they came up with. After reading on this site and several others, I have a suspicion that we will never know the real whole story. Yes – there will be revelations that will come out in the trial, evidence still to be released etc. – but will we really ever know everything? I doubt it. Casey is the type that will stay clammed up even as they strap her to the table to inject the lethal dose, and George & Cindy will defend her to the end.

    God bless Caylee Marie.

(ISSUES WITH JANE VELEZ-MITCHELL “New Developments in Caylee Anthony Murder Case” 12/30/2008):

JANE VELEZ-MITCHELL, HOST: Do you realize how bizarre this whole story is? This is not just one man, OK? Going up in November and videotaping. We have to add the fact that the meter reader in August called three times, Kathi Belich, and urged authorities to go to this specific spot. And on top of that, additionally, Kathi, and I want to get your insight into this, it seems like everybody and his uncle in that town was telling cops to go to that site. A friend of Casey`s told them, “You`ve got to go to that site, because that`s where we used to hang out all the time when we were back in school.”

KATHI BELICH, WFTV: “Well, you know, the site that the friend was referring to was actually very close to that area. There`s sort of a — you know, you haven`t been to that area, but there`s a street. It dead ends. And to the right of the dead end is the area where the remains were found. All the way at the end of the street, there`s a fence, and there`s a gate. And if you go through that gate, there`s a dirt road that leads down into the woods. That was the area, actually, that I believe the childhood friend was talking about. And I had actually been there back in August on that dirt road looking.”

For me thats about as obvious and simple as it gets unfortunatly.I’ve seen some cloak and dagger cases in my time. But to me this just isn’t one of them.

  27. silverspnr says:

    #965/966-
Judge Strickland granted the request of Casey’s newest/DP qualified attorney for additional time to prepare, and set the next case-status hearing for January, 2010.

There is a sequence of hearings that take place while a case is heading toward trial. Depending on the jurisdiction, there can be any number of status hearings on a matter, and typically there will be a pre-trial hearing, along with –and especially in cases of this nature– additional hearings at the request of either party for the court to rule on pre-trial evidentiary motions.

At the very least, I expect the defense to file a motion to preclude the air sampling testing evidence. They will claim that it is “junk science”/not generally accepted in the scientific community under the Frye decision (For any other members of the bar here, I do not believe Florida has adopted the more stringent standard for admissibility as set forth in the Daubert case, though I haven’t taken time to research it).

There will also be further delay due to the motions that Casey’s death-qualified attorney will be filing in an effort to have the Court rule that she is not eligible for the DP. I do not expect her to be successful on that.

Hence, no trial date is set at this time.

  28. BEES KNEES says:

Kleat, do you think this story is even bigger than Caylee’s murder?

  29. Joan (Canada) says:

Chica, yes, The had a meeting with the judge yesterday and Ms. Lyons has a conficting schedule with her teaching so she will not be prepared. She said that she will be posting a bunch of motions sometime in September 2009. They are supposed to meet in court late January to see where they are at.

I don’t understand that she can get away with this. It would seem to me that the judge would tell her if she cannot do the job, recluse herself and get someone who has the time and does not have any conflicting interests.
I also heard that she had a book coming out in Jan or Feb 2010, so she will be off promoting that also.

Poor Casey, left to languish in jail and Cindy and George are partying

The Anthony home and the location where Caylee was found were marked and also two of the lots that backed up to the wooded area were named. One of the lots was named Antonio Gonzales and the lot next to it was named Zenaida Almodovar. If you looked directly down the property line you came to the exact area that was marked as the location that Caylee was found. I am not sure how accurate the map was but if it was in fact accurate do you think that the name Zenaida Gonzales was indeed the location where Casey put Caylee and not the name of an actual person?

also, no one has really made a big deal about the two lots,–antonio gonzalez and zenaida almodovar—to me it seems very important.

i read things here and pick up points from everyone–trying so hard to put all the info together for that big puzzle. this IS one of the most bizarre cases

    #987-Felicity,

I can’t imagine why not, although, in this case, who knows what could happen right? I suppose I should say….in any other case, if she is found guilty and her sentence is one in which she would spend a significant amount of time in prison, then yes, she would go to prison. When the murder trial comes up, she would just be transported back and 4th each day.

When I say a significant amount of time, I put it that way because I don’t know how the laws in Florida work exactly, but here in Texas, we have what they call State Jails. They are a step beyond regular jail, one in which a person would spend more time than the jail you go to initially, but less time than you would spend in prison. It helps with overcrowding and expense according to the state reps.

I hate to state all of this as fact because I could be totally off as far as Florida is concerned. I can’t imagine they are that much different than most states though. I’m guessing the only other reason they would give for not putting someone in prison while awaiting another trial/case, is expense of travel, and/or length of time until next trial date. If Casey is convicted and should serve her time in prison, they could possibly leave her in the jail she is in I suppose, if it is a lot closer to where her murder trial will be held, and also if the date of the next trial is only a couple or few months away.

If I’m wrong, believe me, someone will correct me on here…lol Hopefully that helped some though.

#989-Mimi….. I did and said EXACTLY the same as you last night. I listened with my headphones on, no other noise in this house, not a peep. She clearly says Holt. I turned to my husband and said, OMG how did we all miss that? His explanation for missing it was this…. That audio is one that Nancy Grace played a million times in the beginning, and even still to this day randomly. When the show plays the audio, they also add caption below that contains the text of the audio. I could just see it in my mind when he said that. Clear as a bell I could see it on NG, “in my gut she’s still ok, still feels like she’s close to home.” I suppose a lot of us just watched that so many times, and also heard other people repeat the word home, we just didn’t block out every other sound and hear it clearly. I’m not sure what Holt means, but I guarantee it means something, otherwise Casey would have corrected herself without giving it a thought. When you say something incorrectly, your mind just fixes it….her mind did NOT even think about correcting it, because she clearly SAID AND MEANT HOLT. Hmmmmm….I just dunno’…

I wonder what the state gains by pushing ahead with the check fraud trial? Distracting the defense from the DP case? Getting a felony conviction so she’s no longer eligible for bail (tho I don’t notice anyone trying to bail her out these days)? If she is convicted on the check fraud charges they still won’t be able to call her a known felon in court during the DP case (prior convictions aren’t supposed to figure in, I don’t think) but of course some jurors will know she was found guilty of something or other.

Until recently I was unaware you can go into any pharmacy and get a home PATERNITY TEST…….in light of the fact that Cindy had been made aware by casey that she accused George of fooling around with her Cindy easily could have gotten to the bottom of this early on and find it impossible to believe she did not. In light also of George’s statements that he wanted to do it right this time tells all. It also explains how Casey was aloud to take credit cards and all that $.In that matter what’s to ‘figure out’?

thank you mariann for the link-

“NeJame says the state is also looking to bring out any information that could be useful during the murder trial.”

I curious what kind of useful information they expect they can get from the fraud case?

The Death Penalty is on the table. They shouldn’t need a felony on record or any “other” information to get a conviction, let’s hope they have their I’s dotted and their T’s crossed.

#993 Wendy Have you read this scenario by Blink. Add to the facts on this page that Caylee’s body was found at 8905 block on Suburban Dr. “Caylee’s birthday August 5th” I can’t believe that this is all total coincidence. (Are you sure Casey was not saying she’s close to “Hope” for Hopespring Drive. See this link http://tinyurl.com/djcrp9 I have never heard the news media dissect this one.
