Christine Sheddy Case: Clarence Jackson Arrested For ARSON- In Tennessee

Rogersville, TN– Clarence Butch “Jr” Jackson, believed to be a person of interest in the disappearance and murder of Christine Marie Sheddy has been arrested for aggravated burglary and arson in Hawkins County, TN.

At the former residence of a girlfriend of Jackson, 166 E. Madeline Lane, a witness identified Jackson as the man who broke into the home using a rock to break the glass of the door, and proceeded to light the shower curtain on fire.

While there was no one inside the home during the burglary, the tenant was in the process of removing her things due to an eviction.

Jr. Jackson and his girlfriend Tia Johnson were tenants in a farmhouse at 2911 Byrd Rd, Pocomoke City from September through November 2007 where multiple unexplained fires occurred, with no arrests to date.

As previously chronicled exclusievely at blinkoncrime.com, it is believed 26 year old Christine Sheddy, mother of three from Delaware, was murdered on that farm the evening of November 12, 2007.

The investigation into her disappearance is ongoing.

Please call Worcester County Bureau of Investigation if you have any information regarding the disappearance of Christine Sheddy (410) 352–3476.

Good grief, this guy is a menace. How did he not get arrested for his arsony criminal mischief in Pocomoke, especially when the Fire Marshal was on the scene?

  2. Heri says:

This guy is definitely a habitual offender. At least he got arrested. Now, let’s see if this arrest leads to anything new in the case, other than proving ONCE AGAIN that Blink is right about these people…

  3. larosebud says:

OK POCOMOKE…now let’s hear your explanation as to why this piece of CRAP was not held accountable for all the fires he set in your area? If he had been arrested after the first FIVE fires he set, my cousin would still be alive!!! Oh but there’s no corruption in your town now is there????

  4. melissa says:

Hey Jr, your not in Pocomoke anymore! How does it feel to be arrested for something you did? I bet those country boys will love you at the jailhouse! Commercial for Deliverance should be playing here. Maybe he won’t like it so much down there that he may talk about the farm just to get back to Maryland.

I am very hopeful an opportunity for someone to come forward is taken now. Your right about one thing, if for whatever reason he does not fear arrest in Pocomoke City, perhaps he will be pointing a finger to get out of this one, and implicate someone in Christine’s murder. She needs to be found. I also hope everyone takes a moment today to show their support for Christine’s family, they have been through Hell and maintained their focus and decorum better than I ever could.

  5. suz says:

Hey, looky what I found! I wonder how long it will take him to show up on this Tennessee meth offender registry (who knew there was such a thing??)

Think I’ll keep it for future reference…

  6. mjh says:

This guy just doesn’t stop, does he? You would think he’d be laying low. But, no, he just doesn’t seem to give a crap. I really hope this leads to something.

I agree, Larosebud, it is a horrible shame that he was not arrested in Pocomoke early on. I believe Christine would still be alive now also. How on earth could they let him get away with all of the things he got away with? It just doesn’t make sense at all.

I also believe the “chimney” fire on the farm was more than just an accidental chimney fire. I am sure JR did something to cause that fire. Something very stupid. I also think that whatever he did, Christine was very upset about it, and very afraid.

    Someone needs to come forward.

As always, my thoughts are with Christine and her family. I pray that you will have answers soon, and Christine will make it home, where she belongs. God Bless you all.

  7. Sleuthhound says:

Seems the Tennessee Authorities are on the ball with JR. Hopefully bail will be set too high for him to be bonded out.

To Christine’s family, You are in all our prayers and with every day Christine gets closer to you having her back.

Blessings to you Clair, Lynn & Steve, Jennifer, and the little ones. Keep the faith. Closure is coming soon. <3

#7 Sleuthhound. WOOHOO.. his bail wasn’t set too high…it wasn’t set AT ALL !!!

Jackson allegedly admitted to going to the house but denied breaking in. Jackson remained lodged in the Hawkins County Jail Wednesday without bond. He is scheduled for arraignment Sept. 28 in Hawkins County Sessions Court.

Yep. Makes you wonder, damage was less than $300, and no bond. I would not be surprised to see additional charges.

  13. Blink says:

Arson. In Tennessee, a person commits arson if he or she “knowingly damages any structure by means of a fire or explosion: (1) Without the consent of all persons who have a possessory, proprietary or security interest therein; or (2) With intent to destroy or damage any structure to collect insurance for the damage or destruction or for any unlawful purpose.” T.C.A. § 39-14-301. Aggravated arson consists of the conduct defined above when “one or more persons are present therein; or when any person, including firefighters and law enforcement officials, suffers serious bodily injury as a result of the fire or explosion.” T.C.A. § 39-14-302.

Tennessee law also criminalizes “reckless burning,” T.C.A. § 39-14-304, leaving fires near woodlands unattended, T.C.A. § 39-14-305, and setting fires at certain times without a permit. T.C.A. § 39-14-306.

Burglary and Related Offenses. Under Tennessee law, a person commits burglary who, without the effective consent of the property owner:

    Enters a building other than a habitation (or any portion thereof) not open to the public, with intent to commit a felony, theft or assault;
    Remains concealed, with the intent to commit a felony, theft or assault, in a building;
Enters a building and commits or attempts to commit a felony, theft or assault; or
Enters any freight or passenger car, automobile, truck, trailer, boat, airplane or other motor vehicle with intent to commit a felony, theft or assault or commits or attempts to commit a felony, theft or assault. T.C.A. § 39-14-402.

Aggravated burglary is burglary of a habitation. T.C.A. § 39-14-403. Especially aggravated burglary occurs where the victim suffers serious bodily injury. T.C.A. § 39-14-404. Tennessee law also prohibits the possession of burglary tools. T.C.A. § 39-14-701.

Inmates set fires at Hawkins County Jail
    By Jeff Bobo

    Published December 15th, 2008 | 1 Comments

ROGERSVILLE — Hawkins County Jail inmates were placed on lockdown Monday as a result of three instances beginning Sunday morning when the Rogersville Fire Department was called to remove smoke from the facility due to small fires being set by inmates.

Following the third fire, Hawkins County Sheriff Roger Christian said about 20 inmates from the maximum-security block had been searched, and a lighter believed to have been used to start the three small fires was seized.

What are the sentencing guidelines if convicted of arson in TN?

I would be completely guessing until he is arraigned, under TN law, there are many different considerations.
Aggravated Burglary in itself, has the impetice that it was an inhabited dwelling. This carries mandatory prison time even if someone had no prior record, which we know is not the case. I think his no bond status means there may be more charges, or upgrading of these. Aggravated burglary is punishable up to life in prison in some states depending upond the weight of the aggravaters and mitigators ( ie: was he disguised, lying in wait, had a weapon etc..) The arson charge, if commission during the “act”, could also be very serious. He is not getting out of jail for a very long time, imo. Again I say, now would be a good time for someone, without fear of reprisal, to come forward.

What about tia they just let her go or what?
To my knowledge she was not involved in this incident. With regard to Christine’s case, it is still open as you know, I certainly expect those responsible to eventualyy be charged with her murder.

This one will hit right in your bullseye regarding your problems with the “open air drug market.. An actual drug sweep, multiple arrests, in fact, one in the house next to the incident for which JR was arrested ,

More than 30 arrested in Hawkins drug sweep

    snip-

Since May 12, the HCSO Narcotics Unit has arrested 33 drug suspects, mostly on Hawkins County grand jury sealed indictment warrants that were handed down on April 27. Some of the cases date as far back as a year.

This was the first time in recent memory that the HCSO has orchestrated a massive drug sweep like this.

Great news on JR’s arrest in Tennessee.

Let the games begin for his “friends” to be able to speak now..without his reprisal. No more bullying from JR…..he’s about to become some Southern Bubba’s B*tch.

Tia..be the women..not the little girl who needs a man to tell her what to do..come forward now with info on Christine. Be the big girl..grow up and get a clue..this dude done used you b*tch. He is buba’s baby now.

There is no time better then the present..same for your brother, his wife Brydie, Domo and the gang. The BULLY is behind bars in another state, “Sir” can’t help him now. He is the newest member in a Southern jail..where they don’t take kindly to strangers dealing drugs, torching down an old flames last address, or breaking into homes. He’s in a different world now, no one can help him, and he can’t harm you, bully you or badmouth you. And once again..good ole “Sir” ain’t gonna step forward to help a boy out..nope..it’s all over now for JR.

For God sake..would one of you get the cajones to stand up and say what the hell happened. First to bat gets more consideration then the stragglers from LE. All we want is where to find Christine so her Momma can take her home and lay her to rest..so her children will know she never left them, she never ran away….Look in the mirror ..remember Karma is coming fast now..she is a first class redeemer..righter of wrongs….make sure your on her right side, make the call. It only takes a few minutes to do the right thing.

  21. suz says:

So who are Kathy and Michael Smith of in Rogersville? (jr’s address in the article) Are they Tia’s people? Friends? Or is my info old, and the Smiths are former residents?

I redacted that address, I know you understand, it did not appear in my article on purpose.

  22. Seashed says:

Well, didn’t take him long at all now did it? Just a couple of weeks. I know you have all heard this but I have to say it too….1 breaking and entering, 1 fire, poorly set for such an expierenced pyro I might add, And 1 set of bars!!!! I love those Tennesee Lawmen already.

One large step forward for Christine’s justice. I think I will sleep better tonight than I have in awhile just knowing that dirtball can’t hurt any innocent people in his new Residence. And his new landlord won’t have to worry about the next rent check either.

My wishes of peace in your sleep friend-

  23. CB says:

The area of Rogersville is the state we call “the land down under” here in Show-me land. Just beautiful land and lakes and lots to see and do but wouldn’t want to live there. Great vacation spot where lots of ours and “others” good relatives live. Most of those people keep their noses clean or so I’ve been told. This is great news about this case and am hoping that someone will wise us and lead to CS being returned to her mom and children. They deserve what closure they can find in this. Lynn and family my prayers are with you.

  24. CB says:

That was supposed to be wise up.

  25. Seashed says:

This is for the rest of JR’s goon squad. You know where he is right now. You also know he doesn’t want to be there. I can think of only one way he can either get out of it or get a lighter sentence. They call it PLEA BARGAIN.

What is the ONLY thing of value he has to bargain with?? Which one of you do you think he will turn on first?? Only you guys know for sure. I sure hope you all know what the penalty for murder is in the State of Maryland.

JR goes to chat with the Judge in less than 5 days. Clock’s a ticken’.

  26. suz says:

Yup, I getcha’ totally. Let me be more circumspect here.

Looking at the property records, the same dude with an addy on Hwy 11 owns both properties (as of Jan 1 anyway), and one parcel is even in a subdivision that is named for said dude—which must mean that the dude is a real estate tycoon of some sort, and the residents of those properties are thus renters.

So if Tia and/or JR are (or were) living at those addresses, what happened to the property that jr inherited?

    1) the estate has not yet been settled, so he hasn’t yet moved in
    2) the estate was settled, but the property had to be sold to pay taxes or debt
    3) he just so happened to have inherited the property from the real estate tycoon dude who was listed as the owner on jan 1
    4) there was no inheritance

Do we know which statement, if any, is true?

yes, #4, but you knew that already, Im certain :)
    B

  27. deeindvl says:

WooOHooo!!!! That’s good news! While I hope more charges are indeed pending (especially if he threatened that owner) I’m going to venture a guess….his no-bond status is due to being a flight risk. In other words they got him and they plan on keepin him awhile. The wheels of justice turn slowly…..

  28. suz says:

well, i probably would have put money on #4 if we were bettin’, but you never know..!

So they were/are just on the lam after all.

It’s so odd to set fire to something in a bathroom, which seems like one of the least flammable rooms of a house, what with the tiles and all. I guess that curtain was the only flammable thing handy since the house was empty? And luckily i guess he didn’t think to take the curtain into another room, or bring one of his handy Molotov cocktails along.

    What a guy.

Right? I thought about that, maybe we are all assuming the shower curtain was hanging in the bathroom, when it was actually ignighted and shoved under a door or something? I have no confirmation yet on where it was. $300 in damage from an aggravated burglary when we know he broke the door glass with a rock makes me think the “aggravators” are something else.
    B

  29. mjh says:

It seems to me that since the new tenant had not moved in yet, the curtain was probably not up yet. Obviously, JR meant to do more damage than he did.

Thank God the neighbors saw him and spoke up!! Thank God the police got right on it.

I am so glad that he has finally gotten caught, and he will not get away with it this time.

Has somebody let the police there know of his suspected involvement in the murder of Christine Sheddy? I certainly hope so.

Thank you, Blink, for scaring him off to Tennessee!!

  30. JD says:

Are the TN cops aware of Christine’s case? Also, are the Worchester cops going to take advantage of this situation>?
    They are.
    I CERTAINLY hope so.
    B

  31. suz says:

Right, Blink, there’s no telling what that little firebug tried to do. But the article does make it sound like it was limited to the bathroom:

When the new occupant arrived, she found that a French door at the rear of the house had been broken with a rock, and a shower curtain in the bathroom had been set on fire.

Although the shower curtain burned up, the fire extinguished itself before spreading.

  32. wymzie says:

My hope and prayer is that someone in an official capacity contacts TN LE and makes sure they lean on him.
He was not leaned on in MD. Only questioned, not interrogated.
I think he needs some good ole boy ruffin up if you ask me.

    Absolutely
    B

  33. FairWitness says:

    Good job, Blink.

Why do you think Pocomoke City Police didn’t arrest the whole bunch of these lowlifes when Christine went missing? I realize the police chief had a low opinion of the victim, but really… she was the mother of 2 babies who were left behind at that farm. Wouldn’t you think they’d at least care about them?

  34. lily says:

    To Lily:
No worries my friend. A piece of advice from a dear friend of mine I would like to share with you.

I never lift the cover on the septic, I already know what’s in there.
    B

  35. suz says:

Blink, I am sure you were answering figuratively in response to lily, but it makes me wonder: has anyone searched the septic tank at the farm on Byrd Rd? There’s precedent for it. For instance, a body (granted, it was of a 4 y.o.) was found stuffed into a septic tank earlier this month. http://www.kwtx.com/nationalnews/headlines/57607862.html

To my knowledge, it has. But your correct, I have not done specific research on that as a “dumping ground” but I would think it high. I know it is in the top 3 places Investigators or Forensic teams look on a property for a possible body.
    B

  36. lily says:

    Thanks, B.

I know my friend. Let’s refocus our energies on supporting Christine Sheddy’s family and finding answers to where she is, and bringing her home. The justice part will follow, of that I am certain.
    B

  37. Red Ranger says:

First I would like to take this opportunity to thank the neighbor that reported Jr and the LEO’s that built the case and arrested him.

Second, I would like to congratulate Christine’s family. Any step in the right direction is a giant step indeed.

Third…Domo? What’s on your mind? I have a small suggestion. Approach the DA or Prosecuting attorney’s office. Ask them what considerations can be made for a man who may know something. They may let a brother slide on obstruction and other small charges to hear the truth. In other words, the truth may set you free. If someone else tells the truth first…

  38. worrywortdd says:

ahh thank you good LE of TN for doing your job!!!! See..we are NOT crazy!! Isn’t it ironic..burgalry and arson, gee, sounds all too familiar MARYLAND. JR is obvisouly acting out. Breaking into an almost empty home and lighting a shower curtain on fire?? Clearly there is no ryhme or reason to the things this man does. You have to be sick to be able to do these things. :( BLINK!?!!? Isn’t there any laws that exist against states for letting these criminals leave to cause destruction elsewhere w/ out any prior arrests?!!?!? No probation, no parole, equals no flight risk.. When there is a HUMAN BEING that went missing from a home this person occupied at the SAME time!!!?? And “they” defend themselves! It’s evil. Thank God that noone was harmed this time around but atleast TN would have taken the proper actions and this man would be PAYING FOR WHAT HE DID THERE!!!!

  39. suz says:

worrywortdd, I agree, I am loving that sheriff! Looks like he is nice and tough, even in his photo. The judge jr will be going before looks friendlier, but maybe he is sensibly tough.

Blink, I had no idea that septic tanks were in the top 3. Man, talk about a thankless job, yuck.

  40. suz says:

worrywortdd, there was a reason for him breaking into that particular house—the article said his girlfriend (we are assuming Tia) had recently been evicted from there, and a new person was moving in. I guess he was mad about the eviction, and was probably itching to burn something, anything, since it seems to be a compulsion. I am surprised he is not a volunteer fire fighter—alot of fire bugs join fire departments because they love love love fire.

“…accused of breaking into his girlfriend’s former house and setting the shower curtain on fire ….According to reports, the girlfriend of Clarence Jackson…was recently evicted…”

    Suz-
not Tia. She and Jr are/were living together when he was busted. JR was “shacking up” with this woman when Tia was in Maryland yet. The girlfriend they are referring to is not Tia.
    B

  41. worrywortdd says:

A lil prayer Please God let this search take place so we can bring C home to rest. She doesn’t deserve to be left in that place of evil and her children deserve the truth and her family piece of mind. Put an end to this now so we can unravel the TRUTH!! And when we do..help to tuck away the persons responsible in a deep dark place to sit and forever have to think about the pain they’ve caused to an innocent girl and her family. Dig up the truth because this needs to finally come to an end. And EVERYONE needs to know that there is HELP out there for all women w/ children who are overwhelmed and don’t knwo what direction to go, outside of your families and friends that can be support for you emotionally and help you get OUT and start a career and a new life for yourself and your children and do what you know is best for them. Sometimes you have to reach oustide of your family and friends to get the help you need.. sometimes women let their pride (or men) get in the way of taking that next step to contact programs that can rescue them. Sometimes when women have children and their men aren’t supportive and they are abusive the women start to feel like a burden on their families and I think C has felt this way at some point. You ARE NOT ALONE! And there is help out there. I think C felt alone and I think she would be blown away to see that all of these people really care about her and finding out what happened to her for her, her family, and her kids. God bless C, and family.

  45. Coalville says:

    Blink-
I will understand if you delete this, I have stayed away because I know you have strict rules on here, but when I see this family bashed on other sites because you are doing your job it makes me sick.

Patricia Griffith, self-professed advocate, is no stranger to attacking parents of the deceased:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KKe2_Sn95Go

This is her slamming the Ramseys, and Mary Lacy, Boulder DA, WHO HAPPENED TO BE RIGHT!!

    Then see this:

    http://www.bouldercounty.org/newsroom/templates/bocoda.aspx?articleid=1256&zoneid=13

I wonder if Ms. Griffith took the time to admit her errors to the Ramsey family? Well, to John, because Patsy was deceased by then. An innocent Mother of a slaughtered child, Patsey Ramsey, was maligned by Patricia “Tricia” Griffith without so much as a private or public apology for her egregious misinformation when Mary Lacy and her team proved the evidence excluded anyone in the family.

Mary Lacy and the Boulder PD were slammed by this woman and she professes to be a supporter of LE?

I know Marc Klaas, and I know he is not aware of this pattern.
Nancy Grace insulted her publicly, as well as Tracy Mclaughlin, and everyone knows about the Registered Sex Offender as an Admin on her site having access to everyones personal information.

If someone were smart, they would sue her for that. O wait, they already are. That would be the “you have no idea what is at stake” recent comments. She’s an open book? HA! She’s so open she tells people to email her directly about why you were banned.. Know Why? Because then she can say anything privately, which in turn you would be able to once and for all shut her up. Through a friend I have seen the emails back and forth between you two, and you Patricia, are FOS.

I find it hilarious that she ends up becoming an “editor” ( save for the fact she would not dare write such bunk in her own name you will notice.)on a site that is pissed because you mentioned that a registered sex offender ( that means felon) is breaking the FD by laws and your supposed to be the bad guy. So again, she is supporting Sex Offenders.

So badgering you publicly, and contributing to a site that is maligning the family of a deceased young woman is advocacy?

Well then, I guess she should appreciate the only advocacy she suppports is that of the criminal. The dude who owns the PE is on recent parole. Another brilliant move. Well done. She would not dare put that trash on her own site, didn’t your hear? That’s against Websleuths terms of service. Apparently she is not above dumping in someone else’s yard, however.

I am not a blink lover or follower, I dont even know her. I do know however that in all this crud, I have yet to see one single solitary contradictory piece of evidence to what you have written. I have however, watched this story come full circle and I applaud you and your team for weathering it on behalf of Christine and her family.

Botton line: You covered Christine Sheddy case personally. You did not sit on your azz and your team or whomever got JR run out of MD and arrested fortwith. I have no doubt that is just the beginning.
I am even going out on a limb and say you know alot more that is going on right now, and are unphased because unlike most, I have yet to see you be wrong. I am not saying you havent and wont be, and maybe your just really good at never saying anything you can’t already prove, that’s my take.

Know what else, you pissed them off even more because YOU WERE RIGHT!
Hmm, unexplained fires, no arrests, removed from site, JR IS ARRESTED FOR ARSON… That’s the chronology of a case being resurrected. And that is going to be your ticket for more of the same with the haters, having nothing to do with the bs they call “finding the truth”. See, in the end people always show themselves. Your a heavy lifter. Its a burden. Its a gift. But it “is”.

I would not supersize your mailbox for all the cards and letters of apology for bashing you since you got results in 2 months that have not happened in 2 years, you won’t hear a word.

O and Tom Ayers, your a joke. You post that crap on some apparently bad advice and then REDACT YOUR OWN ADDRESS.. OMFG, that made my day. That’s comin’ back y’all, so I would not crawl back up on that cross you been livin on for years so you can play passive aggressive with a bevy of aliases. Martyr turned hate monger back to martyr, you must be so proud.

I apologize in advance to Blink, I understand if you will not post, but if I ever had someone go missing and possibly murdered, I dont want these *people* ruining the possibility of others “paying it forward.” If that ends folks, we are in trouble.

Many blessings to Christine Sheddy, her children, and her family.
    Peace.

  46. lily says:

Coalville – Amen Amen Amen your comment! I’ve learned some horrible truths in these last couple of months. There are those that have no ‘bottom’ when it comes to using the people that are at their absolute lowest point of misery – a missing probably murdered family member – to further their agenda. There is no point in responding to them – their jealousy and small twisted minds have no room for anything else. Also, thank you for giving me some much needed background in this whole mess.

For me, this puts it to rest. Now . . . back to Christine!

    coalville,
thank you, thank you. I was having a really hard time, as my family was, knowing that there was so much hate over on that site. It never ceased to amaze me that so many people have taken such pleasure in dancing on my daughter’s grave. For what???? I cant think of one good reason. Actually, there isn’t one…now is there? I am just glad that Blink and her team are still here with us. They sure have taken alot of crap for somebody they never met. I will forever be greatful to them and everyone on this site that have helped us get through this mess. Thanks everyone.

We ARE with you. I do not think they are dancing on Christine’s grave as much as they can’t see their actions result in that equivalent. I imagine in your position it makes zero difference emotionally. I don’t have words, but to say- ENDURE.
