Morgan Harrington Case: UVA Basketball Players Last To Speak To Missing VT Student

Charlottesville, VA– As the web continues to buzz and theorize about what might have happened to 20 year old Virginia Tech Student Morgan Harrington October 17th. in efforts to locate her whereabouts; the last people to speak with her from 9:10 PM – 9:20 PM have been identified as University of Virginia basketball players.
Lead Investigator, Lt Joe Radar refers to the players as “people the VSP have identified” in his press conference on October 28, 2009.
Speaking on condition of anonymity to blinkoncrime, two separate sources, one within UVA and the other within the investigation, have verified that Morgan Harrington “interacted” with the individuals for approximately 10 minutes in the Lannigan Field Area, where Morgan’s purse was recovered the following morning.
According to Lt Radar, the basketball players, whom they were able to identify and speak with, left the area at 9:20PM in seperate vehicles, stating Morgan was still there when they departed.
The names of the basketball players interviewed by VSP have not been released. Blinkoncrime attempted to reach Cavalier head coach Tony Bennett for comment but no response was received at press time.
Coach Bennet’s office is currently besieged with calls regarding his announcement yesterday that Senior Forward Jamil Tucker will be taking an indefinite leave of absence from the Cavaliers roster for personal reasons.
“Jamil has some things he has to deal with at this time,” Bennett said. “This leave of absence will give him time to deal with these matters.”
This announcement comes on the heels of Saturday’s announcement that the Cavaliers center, Assane Sene was suspended for the first 3 games for “conduct detrimental to the team.”
It is not known if either player was one of the team members that saw or interacted with Morgan Harrington, nor should a presumption be made that their player status is in any way linked with anything other than what has been released on behalf of UVA.

Interesting reading all the posts, theories, clues, etc. I was wondering what the local gang situation is like in Charlottesville area? Remember the girl at UNC, EVE something (I Can’t remember her last name right now) She was brutally murdered by two losers in some kind of gang initiation thing. Just another wrong place, wrong time situation, done in by the true dregs of society.
Blink I have a few private thoughts I would like to share with you. How do I do that? I know most of my posts go right up.

I, like everybody else, have been pondering what happened to Morgan.
I have two thoughts. The first is that she never did make it to the concert. Today I read “Hi all. I am in Blacksburg for the next week. Today I went to the VT/NC State game. At least twice during the game they put up Morgan’s pic and info on the scoreboard video screen. Both times it got real quiet in the stadium, I know people noticed.
Sitting directly behind me was a pair of men who began discussing the case. One said he is LE from Roanoke. The other man wasn’t all that familiar with the case and the LE guy was telling him about it. He didn’t really say anything that we don’t already know… except one weird thing twice he referred to her found belongings as “wallet and cellphone” rather than “purse” or “pocketbook”. I just chalked this up to being a man and mispeaking. The other thing that was interesting is he said that LE has found NO video footage showing her in, around, outside etc the venue or anyplace else… all they have is eyewitness accounts. According to him, she never shows up on any camera anyplace that LE has looked.
I know at various points we’ve speculated that there could be video footage of Morgan that has not been released. He said he has a mutual friend with the Harrington family so he’s been following it but there’s just not much there for LE to go on. He said its “like she just disappeared”.”
The second goes back six months ago. Her father spoke of them being alright since the six months ago. I was thinking that with school being out could she have been involved with one of the basketball players and he went home and things got better at home but now he was back and she wanted him?
Just wondering about those two things. Thanks for any response.
There is something about this that has really bothered me from the beginning. The boyfriend of the girlfriend. Why has his name been withheld from the public? As far as we know, everyone else in the car has been identified.
There was a guy from NJ I think, who happened to arrive at the arena parking lot the same time as Morgan’s party. He talked about how excited she seemed to be there, and walked on ahead of the others. Also, coincidentally he happened to be leaving at the same time and noticed there were only three people in the car and none of them were Morgan. In the interview with the friend Sarah by WSLS (channel 10 Roanoke) reporter, Sarah says she was one of the two who traveled back to Harrisonburg. What happened to third person of their party?
This may have already been discussed on your site and I missed it. I try to read all of your postings, but it’s possible that I missed this one.
Thanks Blink for the great job you do bringing things out. In this case it has been extremely hard to separate fact from fiction. I wonder if any of the sitings were actually Morgan or just someone fitting her description. Has it even been proven that she was there?
I trust your opinions, which is why I bring my questions here. Keep up the great work.

It has not been released in any fashion. I do not even know if the “guy” went to the concert, or was getting a ride from the girls to party on campus. Also do not know if he returned to JMU with them. LE nor the Harrington’s have mentioned his name.

Hey everyone, been lurking since I found this site a few days ago, never posted (ok, once, but it didn’t show up). This case is baffling, to say the least. I always find myself obsessed with missing persons, so I’m glad I found this site, but not glad there’s a reason to have it. I think we all agree that the friends are a big key to this, they know FOR SURE whether Morgan actually entered the concert or not, where she went if she didn’t, at least initially, and who she was with. If she DID enter the arena, they also know what condition she was in, and where she was going, if not to the bathroom. I find it hard to believe that they wouldn’t be completely forthright with LE, considering their friend’s life is at stake. More than likely, LE just doesn’t see the need to release that info to the public, and as much as we all would like to know the answers to some of our questions, it’s probably out of respect for her family and friends that they keep it quiet, so we should try to remember that.
There have, in fact, been many college students go missing throughout the country (see Smiley Face Killers), not out of the realm of possibilities it was a gang initiation.
I think some posters are getting the two school confused. I just read a comment about perhaps she knew the basketball player(s) before school ended last year and “now he was back.” Morgan attends Virginia Tech, 2 hours from Charlottesville, home of the University of Virginia. The basketball players reported to have seen and perhaps interacted with her are University of Virginia players. This doesn’t preclude the possibility that she could be acquainted with them, but makes it much less likely.

I have followed this case from the beginning. You have brought out a number of interesting aspects of this case, based on what is out there (or not). Every day I read your site to see if there is anything new. Thank you for sticking to reality, which is hard to do with the stories changing constantly and being added on to.
One thing that hasn’t changed is the fact that the GF’s BF (man of mystery)is not commented on at all by LE. Is he 1.very important to the investigation or 2.completely insignificant? Since anyone that had contact with Morgan that night would not be considered #2 then I somehow feel it is #1.
I want to also say this, that your reply to my question took me back to some thoughts I had when the case first came out concerning the “guy”. I am going to go back and read up on a few things before I comment again. It may take awhile since Thanksgiving company will start arriving today. But, I will be back.
Hopefully Morgan will be found soon! God bless the Harringtons during this holiday.

If it’s possible that this “mystery man” rode with the girls,
and attended a party on campus, wouldn’t it make sense for Morgan to have gone there?
I live about a mile and a half from the farm where they found this girl. I can tell you from living out here that whoever put her there had to have known the property. I dont think the basketball players know there way around a farm out in North Garden. I remember hearing a while ago that Tuckers girl was having a baby soon. That would make make sense that he would need to leave for a while. I think it is somebody who hunts out in this area or something. Possibly Hunts on that property
