Morgan Harrington Case: 2 Unidentfied Bodies Found in Different Locations (Updated)

Roanoke, VA Laurel, MD– Two bodies of unidentified individuals, one confirmed female, were found this morning in Roanoke, VA and Laurel MD, respectively.
The remains in Roanoke, which is also the town Morgan Harrington’s family home is located, were spotted by a coal train employee near the tracks under the Wasena Bridge. The Medical Examiner is on the scene and it is believed to be the body of a female.
In Laurel, MD Prince George County, Homicide detectives have been called to the scene at approximately 6 am this morning following the discovery of a deceased individual in the Encore Recycling Plant. Police are not commenting on the victims gender or age at this time.

The two entries I’m referring to on FB were made by Victoria. There are now two more comments posted of places with similar names.
I’ve been keeping up with Morgan’s story from the beginning and been on the sidelines, but would hate to think this had some significence and wasn’t checked out.
I just want her found so badly and want her back home with her family. Prayers for Morgan, Dr. and Mrs. Harrington and her brother.
SuzeeB, Thanks for map in [140]. Are those blue porta-potties by the RV lot? Did she somehow get outside the arena without making it to the ladies, on a cold wet night? On a Saturday night on campus, locked out of the arena, where would the nearest place to use the restroom have been? Her plotted trajectory is pretty much that way.
Blink, when Morgan made the call or text to her friend that she would get a ride home, do you know if that call was made from Morgans cell phone?
Did Morgan make the call or did her friend call Morgan? Was the very last communication from or to Morgan the point at which a different cell number came up?
Was that the last call from Morgan?
It is my understanding the friends called her at 8:48PM and that is last incoming call prior to the loss of power, by whatever means.

Good question! How do we know that these sightings of Morgan and are not Dee? The only one that is truly confirmed to the public was with the UV basketball players.

Re post 115. If it was Dee how did she and her fellow compadres leave later with a black balloon that Metallica passed out at the end of their concert?
The post to me would have had Dee outside at 9 and back inside til Metallica ended. How would she get in and out with the no readmission policy?
Blink, here is the article on tying Morgans “friend” with Dee Spolarics. I had trouble linking it. I doesn’t specially say the friends name, but it indicates a “mutual friend” Hope this helps.

Student in Online Video is Not Missing Woman

On Tuesday, Virginia State Police confirmed the video and pictures thought to show Morgan Harrington before her disappearance October 17, actually show James Madison University sophomore Dee Spolarics. Spolarics says this case of mistaken identity is opening up a world of similarities between herself and the missing student.
When Spolarics bought a ticket to the concert, she had no idea just how small her world was about to become.
Spolarics, her boyfriend and three other guys went to the concert and say it was a great crowd. Afterward, they tried to meet up with friends, seated in another part of the arena. Those friends were mutual friends of Spolarics and Morgan Harrington.
“We call and [our friend] is like, ‘We’re actually missing somebody,’ one of the people she was with, and they’re like, ‘We don’t know what happened to her. She said she was getting a ride home, so we guess she’s fine,’ but so we’re like OK, we didn’t think anything of it and they went home,” says Spolarics.
More than a week later, those trying to find Harrington spotted a blond woman in video posted online and made a connection. Spolarics says she’s the one in the video and police agree.
“I thought I would say ‘oh that’s not me’ and it would be over, but people were coming up with theories,” says Spolarics.
Spolarics and Harrington are both average height, blond, college-aged women. The night of the concert they were both wearing black shirts, black mini-skirts and black boots.
“I can definitely see people who didn’t know, who wanted it to be Morgan, I wish it was her and not me,” says Spolarics.
Thanks Blink. It is a vision by someone named Frank. Sorry…just hopeful and afraid time may be running out if she is alive and being held by someone. I have four daughters ranging in age 24-33 and just want Morgan to be ok. At this point, I don’t know what I believe. Referring to visions, etc.

The arena’s reentry policy states:
“Reentry
Exiting and reentering with the same ticket is not permitted.”
It does not prohibit buying a new ticket. Was the concert sold out?

Thanks for posting this map. It definitely provides a clear understanding of just how far this young girl traveled wearing
nothing but a t-shirt, mini shirt, and high heal boots (of what ever height).
That poor thing, she had to have been freezing.
But it does speak one thing to me, in those kind of conditions I think
if she were only under the influence of alcohol the cold would have sobered her up somewhat. But by then she would already been locked out.
The thing that is most concerning to me is the fact that this beautiful young girl must have been like a injured fish in a shark tank to a predator. It is a sad state to think we as people men/women alike are so unsafe these days.
No offense taken. When you’re a mom, it seems like there’s always what ifs pulling on your sleave. Like, what if it does mean something? Thanks again.

Perhaps today will bring another updated/corrected Hook article – - without the word “tights” in the description of the blonde woman with the 4 guys dressed in black, or the addition of the word “no” as in “no tights”).
This sighting or witness account “as presented” in The Hook is confusing
(reaching for the ibuprofen) This is not hard. Asking the right questions to provide correct facts to a helpful public is the RESPONSIBILITY of those covering her case. This freezes my shorts like nothing else.

We are on the same train of thought regarding Dee, Morgan and what may have to end up being still other young women in black outside the arena. I’ve had no luck finding any info on Dee leaving the concert before the end. Just the assumption that she did, which her brief statement about meeting up with friends seated in another part of the arena after the concert seems to contradict.
I’m now of the belief that Dee was inside and Morgan was outside. No thoughts on Ms. Over-the-Knee–maybe just irrelevant?
Except I swear I saw her on youtube footage and comments that she was being aggressively escorted out.

There reentry policy leaves a lot of room for problems. Sure it deters most people from leaving if they have to repurchase a new ticket to gain entry. Still, a person could leave, get really messed up and reenter.

i just noticed something I find strange. All accounts say Morgan left her friends to use restroom at 8:20. They phoned her at 8:48. Does anyone find that narrow timeframe odd … If my friend went to use a giant restroom in a busy arena, I would not be concerned at all if she took 30 min to return to her seat. Ladies’ room lines at these places take forever. Do you think the 8:20 time is just off, and maybe MH left to use restroom earlier, or does anyone else find the 8:48 time of the friends’ call a little odd when using the restroom in such a scene always takes so long. I hope LE has repeatedly questioned those friends about what motivated their call to Morgan. Also this makes me curious about the time stamp on her entry ticket. Maybe you all have been over this already. Doesn’t help solve the case, I know, but surely the friends have been forthcoming to LE??? Blink, I know LE won’t want to share these details but do you believe they’ve covered all this with the friends?
i almost wish for the enquirer to put a face,mouth,real person to the statements,you know, where is dw on the le statement radar,here’s a published statement,with a face,saying he the worked the jpj metallica concert,he spoke with morgan at the concert,and wish he’d done more to help her,i dont see a hook article mention that resembles this witness,or a police statement that hints at what he might’ve shared.
by coming forward i mean somewhat publicly it just seems they are being protected,as maybe they need to be,but they are they major witnesses,esp if they are the only ones to see her thumb out,umm hypnosis,to remember cars ,they couldve seen the perp in theyre peripheal,at least,they did try it with misty cummings.thats what mean by come forward ,actively participate.(maybe they are we just dont know)

Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe I read here that Morgan ticket was for the 312 area.
I looked up the sight for the John Paul Jones Area and here are some interest facts about this venue:
- Designated First Aid area 309 & 109
- Designated Smoking Area 301 & 315
- Guest Services (for persons with issues) 310
- No re-entrance with same ticket stub
- Intoxicated persons can be removed from arena
It appears that if Morgan had injured herself in anyway or walked out to have a cigarette (questioned earlier) she was surrounded by the necessary services.
However, for the record I questioned how it could be possible that a venue of this size (capacity 16,000)would not have security cameras and someone reported that it was just recently built and the cameras had not yet been installed.
On the home page for the arena it stated that construction for the arena was completed in 2006.
Maybe it will take a tragedy such as this to wake UVA up and get those security cameras installed.
I am sure that the wealthy alumi who put up the money to construct the John Paul Jones Arena (named for his father) would not be happy to hear about this lack of security.

Has it been confirmed that the woman that kicked the man outside was in fact Morgan and not Dee? Did he notice if she has the necklace on that they say Morgan was wearing that night? That type of necklace would be hard to not notice. I thought I had read in earlier posts either here or on FB that Dee was escorted out of the arena around 9:00. Is this in fact true, that would make sense why she is seen walking away from the arena and was confused for Morgan. I am just trying to get my facts straight because there is just so much conflicting information out there.

You know what this boils down to? Release of info by the VSP which is worded so ambiguously it is clearly in an attempt to progress the case, and protect witnesses and honestly, unless you have a POI you cannot do both.

Blink, I can find where probably-Dee-but-not-necessarily-over-the-knee is being “escorted,” but it’s the “out” part that I can’t find. Maybe her male friends were just aggressively getting her through the crowd. Could be hard to tell the difference on the grainy shots I saw.

I think the girl in the video is probably Morgan and I think that Morgan was the one who was escorted out that night.
If so, and Morgan met with foul play, that would imply some major liability on the part of JPJ arena and possibly UVA.
I have struggled with that, but as far as I am concerned there are more corroborators that is Dee than any that Morgan was verifiably there, although I believe she was, some on my team are adamant she was not.

I really like your website better than any of the others so far. I am a little new at all of this and I do not always understand the lingo but I am learning. I have followed the Morgan Harrington case from the beginning and no matter where the leads go it always comes back to square one for me…The friends are not being honest and the only reason that matters is they may hold clues. Is there 100% confirmation by video that Morgan was at the Arena? There is alot to be said for “The truth will set you free” This case does not add up. The Harrington’s are very kind people and I know they do not want to blame anyone but I really think it is time to press the police and the friends more. I would like to think the police have more than they are telling us, but I really think they are running in circles and really do not know. It just does not add up. What confirmed sighting have they disclosed as 100% and how was that determined? I pray they find Morgan safe and I pray the Harrington’s get some peace.

i understand why and hope they dont release photos,or descriptions of the purse,that’s a good vetter for witnesses.and dees boots appear to be mid calf,in the video.if morgan left at 8:20 that’s 20 minutes til lamb of god finished ,the woman who came late and saw blonde in parking lot w/ guys,missed the beginning of metallica if she saw morgan(she says) at 9:15 ,(metallica took the stage at 9:10 )in the rv lot around a car.(with the parking lot that full ,and dark nighttime ,could she see that well,,from the uhall lot to the rv lot?)

I have come to the conclusion that Morgan left the area that night with someone that she knew and probably trusted.
Too much secrecy surrounding the male friend, the texts and the friends in general. I also think that investigators know essentially what has happened, but are waiting. For what, I have no idea.
We need to go back to the beginning and focus on the origin of what we know, or think we know. The hotel room is also relevant somehow, I believe.
Just my opinions.
100% agree. Pay close attention to original Pressconf’s. It’s my opinion that is why they are not being held any longer.

Link to FB conversation re: Dee and including comments from Dee. I am confused about when the sightings of Morgan or Dee occurred. Dee makes it sound as if she did not leave the arena until after the concert was over, yet reported sightings of Morgan that could be Dee are happening 8:30 – 9 something? I wonder when Dee actually entered the concert. Did she skip the first two acts and enter just prior to Metallica or was she in there the whole time? That could clear up whether the sightings were of Morgan, Dee or someone else.
I wonder if this girl Angie reported this to LE. I could not find her original post.

When the Facebook page for Help Find Morgan was first created, which was almost immediately following her disappearance, I noticed one particular gentleman posted frequently. This caught my attention relative to his seemingly deep concern for this young woman who was missing. As I read his post, I saw that he said he was in the adjacent section to Morgan and wished he had known she was there, so, he could have helped her. In another of his posts, he stated that he was at the area where beer was sold and he saw Morgan. He stated that she was walking by him and he noticed her because of her shiny hair. At some point, I discovered that the originator of that particular FB page, which was dedicated to finding Morgan, was the same man. He was also helping the official organizers with the search teams and, I think, was on CNN HLN when the Harrington’s were interviewed. I have heard very little about his sighting of her inside the arena; yet, there have been numerous conversations about sightings by others. I understand that this person is a part-time security guard at the JPJ Arena, but was not on duty that night. Blink, who is this gentleman?

No one can confirm that they definitively saw Morgan at the concert. Besides her friends.
There is no video released that has shown Morgan there.
No photos released show Morgan in the background.
Eyewitness accounts could be confusion over Dee
Dee was wearing almost the same outfit as Morgan
Dee was friends of friends of Morgan they were gonna meet up after the show
Eyewitness accounts & Dee herself place Dee in some of the same areas same time as Morgan witnesses
Morgan’s purse was found in parking lot
Is it such a stretch to believe all these sightings of Morgan are in fact sightings of Dee?
if the bb players said she had her thumb out, after the fact,(like the way it came to us) thats almost, imo a sickly laughable pre alibi.
A couple of more “Dee” and “Over-the-knee” thoughts.
**The witness who say the young woman with 4 men-in-black crossing Massie Road commented that she thought that young woman shouldn’t be going into the “empty parking lot” with them. That seems a strange thought to me. First, they could have been her brothers for all she knew. When I was a college student, my best friends were guys and they protected me relentlessly. Second, what did she mean by “empty.” The permit parking for the concert was sold out, and included all the lots around Massie Road. I guess she meant empty of people, not of cars.
**What time did Dee and friends arrive at the concert? Maybe they just weren’t even inside yet when that witness saw them at 9:05 or so? After all, the witness was still on her own way there.
Just to put to rest the idea that it may have been snowing that night – no. It hasn’t snowed yet this fall and if it had snowed that early in the season, everyone would have remembered it, it is that unusual to get snow in October here.
B – If LE knows what happens why do you think they are waiting so long to release the information? To get all their ducks in a row? I honestly think, they don’t know.
In a perfect world, they know, and are preparing their case for arrest appropriately and hoping these efforts will lead them to Morgan, but that might be a bonus for now.
In a missing persons investigational disaster, and I am not prepared to say this is one, just for the sake of argument-
They have a witness who sees her get in the car and that is it. If the latter is the case, I would be very vocal about how the case is being handled. I hear there is some strong investigative work going on, so I am hopeful.

I just wanted to mention that there are many knee-high boots out this season and last that fold over. When unfolded they become over-the-knee. It might not be readily apparent to Mrs. Harrington that Morgans boots could possibly convert. One might unroll them if perhaps their legs were cold? One might shake their leg at someone if they just pulled their boots up over the knee to say “hey look at my sexy boots”. Just a thought…
This Dee person claims she planned on meeting up with Morgans friends after the concert, she called them, they told her Morgan was missing and then they went home. Why did they have to go home if they planned on doing something else? Because Morgan was gone, they could no longer contact her by phone and they needed to get back to see if she made it? Otherwise why not stick around and see if Morgan shows up before you drive off in her car?
And what happened to the guy that allegedly traveled with them, but not returned?

I don’t see why the UVA basketball coach doesn’t have a “Come to Jesus” meeting with his players and then hold a press conference and tell what happened and answer questions as best they can in plain English.
Likewise the male “friend” who doesn’t want his name used must be a piece of work. My father would have kicked my butt up between my shoulder blades if I ever shirked resposibility like that.
It’s as if people close to the investigation want the public’s help…..but not really.

The one thing I cannot dismiss is the 44 who describes the blonde wearing a black Pantera t-shirt with contrasting tan (or is it rust) lettering, and I believe that to be a more visible difference between Morgan and Dee S. than the boots, in terms of witness descriptions, especially in dim light settings.
Again, either The Hook has misquoted on the Pantera t-shirt or they haven’t. Speaking of which, have I missed how it is The Hook has this “anonymous” 44yo and his “witness statements” in the first place?

Ok, here’s how Dee could be both the kicker and the gal with the four white guys, AND still was inside to see Metallica.
The kickee says he was standing OUTSIDE at 9 pm. He heard a commotion at an ENTRANCE. Suppose Dee and her friends were trying to get in for the first time (some folks don’t mind if they miss the opening acts) and the guard stopped them for a camera or something else they had on them that was verboten in the arena, and Dee made a fuss at the guard (maybe because they got their late and had to park far away, so it was a nuisance to walk back to the car), then gave up and returned to the car to put whatever it was away, rather than letting the JPJ confiscate it. Then she returned to the arena with her friends and enjoyed Metallica.
Dee of course could tell us if that’s what happened, but at least it’s a plausible scenario, i think.

The sore-shins guy traveled from Fredericksburg and was standing outside waiting for friends to arrive. Wonder where his friends were traveling from? I’m sure LE has verified that his friends arrived and met him there, so he’s likely not a POI. And then there’s the call to the girlfriend. While his story sounds like BS to me, he has provided some many avenues for LE to check–ticket scans, friends, girlfriend.
If his story as told is too sticky for us, maybe he did grab her arm or something, and the rest is just a cover for poor manners.
He says alot of things. No note of verification by LE though.

Did we ever figure out if 44yrold came forward before or after the description of Morgan’s clothes was released? If we did, you are right in not dismissing his account. However, if we are still not sure, I am not comfortable in taking his account at face value.
If this 44 yr old is telling the truth and not just inserting himself into the story after the fact then Something is WAY off in his story KWIM

Usually, when watching videos for visual info, I turn off the sound. This time, I listened while watching the Dee clip. I still see her just with guys in black, so could be her friends. But I did catch the “aggressively escorted.” It just didn’t say “from” anything. They also said the video showed her “leaving general admissions.” General admissions was just the no-seats-assigned floor area. So, even if they were asked to leave that area, maybe it’s because their tickets were for an assigned-seating area. In my experience, they wouldn’t get kicked out of the arena for wandering down there–just redirected.
OK, I’ll lay off my Dee-was-inside justifications for now. I don’t think it matters, as long as it really is Dee in the videos, with her no-tights and to-the-knee-boots look.
IMO, the bb players have the best chance of being credible witnesses on a dark night. If the accounts that they spoke with her are accurate, and they are several of them, they’re the best bet for verifying that it was Morgan. If they are credible to LE, then the other points on her timeline may be tied into that. And there’s no way at that time that she wouldn’t have been upset about why she was out there, and vocalized that. So.
i really doubt people who are calling in eyewitness accounts are actually the perp, and they get their jollies by getting involved after the fact. this is not a tv movie.
i dont know if the story will ever be told here, my guess: the kids bought drugs, they were blown out of their minds. she made it to the concert, but was a mess. she left. friends didnt know or didnt care.
LE should be all over these friends, they are bad news. get to the bottom of the drug issue; perhaps she went outside to find the seller again. the drug seller might be the key. the seller may also be someone that the kids new previously from VT or JMU or the area. you dont usually buy drugs from someone you dont know.

I am not sure what to think. This is so frustrating. There is alot of information out there. Yet, we still don’t know what information LE has deemed pertinent. I so hope LE is in a better place in this ongoing investigation then I am. At least to the point that they know which witness statements to dismiss and which to keep.

Sometimes a newspaper/magazine article will be written, assisted with uncredited input, experiences, from within the writer’s circle of co-workers, acquaintances and family. More often in “light” articles relating to “Life and Leisure” topics, but nevertheless, it happens. FWIW, KWIM.
It looks to me like Dee was being “agressivley escorted” out AS Metallica was taking the stage. Also in the still photo at the end her below the knee boots are whited out. On purpose, I wonder?
She also drops something at one point and either keeps touching her nose or is pushing her hair back, cant tell.
I knew I was not crazy, what is that white out? I thought her boots were white when I first saw it.
