Charlottesville, VA– Just passing the month mark, the disappearance of Morgan Harrington from the John Paul Jones Area located on the UVA campus, leaves us with more questions than answers. Part II

The Faces of Her Facebook

Help Find Morgan Harrington was developed by a few concerned individuals interested in spreading the word about Morgan’s disappearance and boasts over 30,000 members. Not all posts are welcome.

NelsonIn particular, a member by the name of Nelson Kane was recently banned for posting very detailed hypothesis scenarios that sparked a firestorm of interest in the self-appointed athlete scout. His posts were deleted at the request of Law Enforcement who admit tasking two officers with monitoring the web for such activity in Morgan’s case.

Additionally, Mr. Kane reached out to several individuals on facebook as well as the Harrington family’s findmorgan.com site in attempts to speak to the family directly and request an interview. The Harrington’s were made aware of the concern for such requests by sources close to the investigation.

He has recently changed his facebook drastically. Nkoldfacebook

Mr. Kane, a member of the family owning the longtime furniture store of the same name in Charlottesville is also a UVA alumni and season ticket holder. In addition to UVA, Kane also claims to have attended Virginia Tech on many of his many social networking profiles. He also fancies himself as somewhat of a Rock band critic.

On his site, nkscouting.com which he has maintained Nkane1since 2001, Kane chronicles his trips to scout mostly High School basketball and football athletes. In an effort to make his site more interesting (his words) he details the travel experience, routes, times and in some cases photos of his visits to High Schools mostly within a few hours driving distance.

Very early on in Morgan’s case, blinkoncrime.com explored the idea that perhaps the double murder of VT freshmen David Metzler and Heidi Childs on August 27th should be investigated as a possible link to Morgan’s case simply because they attend the school and Morgan and Heidi bare a remarkable resemblance to one another.

As far as very odd coincidences go, the location of Nelson Kane’s scouting foray the evening of the August 28th could not be more relevant.

Kane scouted the game at Jefferson Forest High School. The very Kane0828School Heidi Childs graduated from a year earlier. Unlike most of Kane’s other journal entries of his athlete accolades, there is no mention of his travel experience to or from Forest High School so it is unclear where he left from, when he got there, or when he returned home.

This is in no way an accusation that Mr. Kane had any involvement whatsoever in such a heinous crime, of course, but given his proclivities for leaving at all hours of the day and night his keen attention to travel detail and familiarity with the area: Perhaps he saw someone or something amiss in his trip that could help investigators.

Nk1017a

On Saturday October 17th, Kane scouts a game, listens to the UVA football game on his way home and is home in plenty of time to make the concert.

Blink how do you know he was at the concert you ask? I do not. I do know he knows alot about security at the JPJ Arena, how to navigate the different lots near Uhall, and of course that there are blue portable lavatories next to Lanigan Field. #1225 Lizzy,

“How exhaustively were the manholes and steams tunnels at UVA searched?”

I completely understand if you do feel comfortable in expounding upon your experience in the parking lot. But when reading your post I definitely got the feeling that there is much more to the story there and who knows it may be applicable to this case. Just an hunch.

Sorry probably not the right place to add this, but it trigger something in my memory that I had forgotten. My mother went back to college later in her life. I was the only child still living at home at the time. We lived accross the street from the University that she attended.

My friends and I use to walk accross campus to get downtown. One day a friend and I walking in the early afternoon on the sidewalk, street on one side and large grassy area on the other. When a man came walking towards us in the other direction. As he passed he reached out and grabbed my left breast and kept right on walking.

I stood there in shock and my girlfriend screamed out “Prevert” at him and we kept right on walking. Never told a soul about that until now.

I guess my point is that college campuses must be ripe for crazed perverts. Full of young girls living away from home. Prefect stalking grounds.

    P.S.
Not that this is a funny story, but really I was a skinny 14 year old with the body of a small boy. What he thought he was grabbing is beyond me.

This is getting a little of topic from the current discussion, but Suz posted a while back on the purse a few posts up? It is bugging me that these things have not been verified. No one has really addressed these questions: See below? Anyone?

    Comment by suz — December 2, 2009 @ 11:00 pm
Knowable things I wish we knew (at all, or for sure) about the purse:

    1. Exactly which lot it was found in
    2. What was in it?
    - phone (in or out)?
    - battery cover on or off?
    - credit card(s)?
    - ID?
    - cash and/or checks?
    - keys of any kind?
    3. What is thought to be missing from it?
    - camera?
    - cellphone battery (ding ding ding, we know one!)
    - wallet/ID/cash etc.?
    4. Condition of the purse:
    - strap(s) broken
    - strap(s) cut
    - perfect condition
    - clean? dirty?
    - wet? dry?
    - looked like it got run over in the parking lot
    5. Position purse was found in:
    - on its side
    - upright
    - upside down
    6. Open or shut?
    - open, with contents spilled out
    - open, with contents contained
    - zippered or snapped closed
    7. Kind of ground it was found on
    - lying in grass
    - lying in gravel
    - lying in dirt
    - lying on pavement

How come we haven’t even seen a photo of the purse? Just…cuz?

I was sitting down getting ready to address Observer’s post from earlier when I read this. This IS exactly what I am talking about in terms of information.

EXACTLY WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT>>>>

    To add: Who found it?
-are they a student, groundskeeper, athlete?
-did they pick it up and go through it first for ID?

You get the point. There is tons more to fine tuning this investigation and not treating the public like a pack of baby birds at feeding time.
    B

It has by Lt. Rader. In short, he felt that information is intrisic to the investigation, not the press.

lizzy, that’s a great question about the sewers, and I guess we would add the trash routes, too. Hopefully that is standard operating procedure, but this case makes me so uncomfortable (just from the scant info that has been released) I find that I worry about every aspect of it (like not processing the car, as Blink pointed out).

Maybe it’s all in good hands and there’s lots going on behind the scenes, progress-wise. Here’s hoping.

@Blink – re: 1196….I find it hard to believe that the parents are that naive regarding facebook/myspace, etc. Kudos to My kids are in college and grad school, and theirs are hidden to where the wall is not visible to anyone, either. I see what my nieces post on there, and I have let them have it. I just bought my daughter The Gift of Fear…even though she’s 24 and in grad school, they sometimes have a false sense of security. She still rolls he eyes when she’s leaving from home to Clemson (which is a 7 hour drive) when I tell her what to do in case something happens and to make sure her phone is charged, etc. I was raised to be afraid of the boogeyman and I am overly cautious and always think “what if”. I wish these kids did. Kudos to your Niece’s Mom.

  9. AtotheK says:

    {Trying to read all the post from the last day while working}

I have always believed she was more excited about meeting up with someone there than the actual concert and teh friends know this.
I don’t believe some of the comments/theories where she was trying to get away from this guy.
I believe she left the arena with the intention of “getting back together” with XBF (Plan A)
But she had a falling out with him. (Granny’s sighting)
She then tried to get back in the arena and couldn’t. (Security sighting)
she told her friends she would get a ride with XBF
    (Plan B)
She walked/talked with the b-ball players to score some weed…got high and forgot her purse on someones car.
Used someones phone to call XBF and told him to pick her up.

I think its a combination of an abusive ex (verbally or physically)and (light) drugs that play into this.
But she still wanted to be with him although he was abusive. It happens.
I think very highly of the Harrington’s and think they are only trying to protect their daughter but not smother.

I have 3 theories of what happened. Don’t post if you deem inappropriate. I do not mean to offend.
    1. She was forced to run away with him. (she is still alive but be held against her will by him)
    2. The fighting ensued to her demise
    3. Some form of drug OD in his presence.

    Blink,
Would The Gift of Fear be appropriate for a 16 and 13 yr old?
I would love to get that for my nieces…they are at that age.
    Thx

16 year old yes, 13 old with supervision, meaning good idea to read chapters together, Mom reading the entire book first. My style of parenting may differ, however, I have treated my kids like adults when it comes to that type of information since birth.

When my daughter was 3 she got fifths disease and we were at the Pediatrition and he put her hand on her waist to check her “area” and she looks at me and asked me if he was allowed to look at her privacy.. ( Meaning private, which was the unisex word in our house). He laughed out loud and told her that was a very smart question to ask her Mommy first, no matter who he was.

been there for years, and male

    http://www.wset.com/news/stories/1209/684302.html

Campbell Co., VA – More skeletal remains have been found in Campbell County. Sheriff Terry Gaddy says a turkey hunter stumbled along the remains in a remote area near Poor House Road, about 1 ½ miles from Rustburg.

He believes the remains have been there “for years” and says from the clothing, he believes it is a male.
    Talkback:

The sheriff says that these remains are in no way related to discovery of Cassandra Morton’s body in Campbell County on Sunday.

There will be a 2:30 p.m. news conference regarding this. ABC 13 will be there and bring you the latest details as they become available.

  14. suz says:

AtotheK, (we won’t be able to answer this of course, but) if she had a falling out with him, would she then call him for a ride? I ask myself, would I do that/have done that at that age? Guess it all depends on the fight, the relationship, my other options, etc. Could be that she did.

I’ll add a fourth scenario, just for fun (and because of the male skeletal remains that were just found, even though it sounds like they are too old): Morgan kills the abusive XBF in self defense, panics, dumps his body, and takes it on the lam. I know, I know—not bloody likely, but at least she’s alive in this scenario, so I am willing to believe it could be so…!

  15. J2K says:

Okay… changed my shoes, comin’ around.

It’s impossible for me to read everything on here (though I strive to), so please advise if this has been covered at length. Rearranging my perspective to accomodate the firm new theory, some observations on witness accounts. But first I’ll start with B:

“That blonde is Dee S. You can also see her bare legs and short boots.”
    - B

So Dee was donning short boots and bare legs. Not the “over-the-knee” boots that seemed to discount what this witness said:

“It was right about 9pm when we were driving down Massie Road with JPJ to left,” says a Richmond bookkeeper/musician whose late arrival prevented her from hearing opening acts Gojira and Lamb of God— but got her there in time to spot a “wobbly” blonde woman step in front of the car.

With the blonde were four young, white men— a conspicuous group, says the witness, because of the direction they were headed: away from the Arena. In addition to a black miniskirt, tights, and a black shirt, the young blonde was wearing distinctive high-heeled boots, says the witness. … The men, says the witness, were allegedly laughing. …
The blonde, however, did not allegedly seem distressed and even, seemingly as a joke, shook one leg at the men, also clad in black. The witness estimates the time at 9:05pm since she placed a phone call to a friend a minute later while still on Massie Road.”

Okay. So I take it this woman was MH. Certainly fits the timeline – and this witness was interviewed 5 times in the first 3 weeks of the investigation.

So, MH gets ejected at 8:20, can’t get back in. Calls friend in security (possibly exBF – but, hey – she’s desperate). He says that the ticket is voided and he can’t get her back in, but that he and his friends are going to go smoke or something out in the RV lot, and would she care to join them? He can even give her a ride home, if she wants. She’s intoxicated, interested in seeing him (love/affection doesn’t go away unless you start a new relationship, imo) so maybe she was suddenly eager to see him again – she did dress to the nines, maybe *in case* he was working that night?

Then the call from SS comes: ‘Where are you, MH?” She explains she’s out, can’t get back but “she’s getting a ride home.” Not, “I’ll find a ride home from friends in Cville,” according to helpful Ms. Dee:

“We call and [our friend] is like, ‘We’re actually missing somebody,’ one of the people she was with, and they’re like, ‘We don’t know what happened to her. *She said she was getting a ride home,* so we guess she’s fine,’”…

The call ends; possible exBF and three other security guys(? – the witness account says “all wearing black,” so I’m making a guess here). They are laughing, walking toward the RV lot, the witness drives by and, a few minutes later, sees our “wobbly blonde” and her men in black actually IN the RV lot:

“It wasn’t the last time the Richmond woman saw the young blonde. After she, her husband, and friend parked near U-Hall, she says, she saw the same group of five gathered around a vehicle in the RV Lot, or Lannigan Field overflow parking lot— the spot where Morgan’s purse and phone were found and one of the last places police have officially placed her. She figures ‘They’re going to party before they go into JPJ,’ says the woman, who estimates the RV Lot sighting as 9:15pm.”

So this fits with the LE timeline. But at some point soon after, MH leaves this group. Maybe exBF says something that reminds MH why she shouldn’t be with him. Maybe the other three dudes leave, and being alone with him immediately starts a fight.

She takes off and starts texting her “friend from outside Cville” (theory: new beau that LE/Harringtons don’t want exBF to know about?) Now she’s starting to feel nervous – after all, 6 mos. of being kept away from him for a reason is starting to set off alarm bells in her head. She sees the BB players and walks alongside them, feeling safer(?) asking for a ride and is declined? I have no idea what the exchange could have been, but she walks with them toward the Copeley Road bridge, where they get in their cars and take off. Perhaps MH hightails it to the main road as option 2, holding out her thumb (she *wants* that ride away from there the BB players wouldn’t provide) then walks left onto Ivy Lane, where she is aggressively approached by exBF.

Enter Granny, who is parked “outside the JPJ,” so, theoretically, she may have parked at a shopping lot along Ivy Lane or vicinity, right where MH was heading:

“She says the fight unfolded behind her car parked outside the John Paul Jones Arena the night Metallica took the stage. At about 9:30, the same time police say Morgan Harrington had still been on the arena grounds, the woman pulled into a parking space to pick up her son and grandson from the show. That’s when she says a loud noise startled her.

‘I heard them being very loud and it sounded like maybe like she got smacked or something. The two people were in like a hand lock she had her hands on his arm and he had his hands on her arm pushing back and forth.’”

J2K’s jealous-a-hole-detecting instincts say our exBF was trying to see who MH was texting, and tries to physically get the phone away from her. The phone comes apart in the ensuing struggle. Maybe she even hits him with her purse and it flies onto the ground, landing in a disarray.

“(Granny) says the girl started walking back toward the arena and the young man headed for the road, but ran back to the girl. She says the girl looked just like Morgan and it appeared the couple knew each other. The woman only had a vague description of the young man she saw.”

So now I’m back to B’s scenario: (paraphrasing) “It’s cold and raining, let’s sit in my car, I didn’t mean it, look let’s talk, I’ll give you a ride wherever…

    ….and she’d thought it’d be alright, and it wasn’t.”

So, details may be wrong, but if this is the gist of what went down, does anyone think the Shhetz/Orange sighting the next morning was accurate?:

“Sheetz is a bustling gas station and convenience store in downtown Orange, and on a recent visit a reporter counted no less than 20 surveillance cameras inside and outside the store, including an interior camera trained at the door Karen55 says both she and the Pantera-shirt-wearing woman passed through. A Sheetz manager confirms police reviewed surveillance at the store, and spokesperson Geller says that police dispatched an agent the same day they got that tip. While there was no sign of Morgan on the video police reviewed, Gellar admits they can’t rule it out and are waiting for further information that would confirm that sighting or any others that seem plausible.”

My post #258–I’m sorry. When I first received the email, they hadn’t released the information that the body was of an older man. It seems he has been missing for quite a while. At least his family now can bury him properly. It’s so very sad.

  18. suz says:

    http://www.wdbj7.com/global/story.asp?s=11622214

Skeletal remains were found in Campbell County Friday morning.

Sheriff Terry Gaddy said a turkey hunter came into the sheriff’s office around 10 a.m. and told deputies he found some remains in a remote area just north of Rustburg. The sheriff’s office went out there and found what they believe to be a human skull and other remains. There was several articles of clothing found with the remains. Based on that, the sheriff’s office believes the remains belong to a man who was about six feet tall.

Since there was a lot of trees and brush around the remains, the sheriff believes the remains have been there for years. Sheriff Gaddy told reporters he believes the remains are that of a 70 year old man who lived near where the remains were found. The man wandered away from his home in 1995 and was never seen again.

The sheriff is going to show the articles of clothing to the family to see if his suspicions are correct. Sheriff Gaddy said it could take months for the remains to be positively identified.

Were the foreign numbers in her cell before or after the call from friends and texts?? OR not related to this date or time frame?
Were they found under a text message (attempting to text to this number-blank text) or call (incoming or outgoing?)
How much is known about these numbers and are they relevant?

  20. localcvillegirl says:

Wouldn’t it make sense, if LE and the Harringtons know who BG is, to get him sweating a little bit? Like have some obvious surveilance outside his house. Follow him to the grocery store, stand behind him in line, give him the evil eye? He may never make a move until he’s forced. LE obviously knows better than I do, I’m just feeling frustrated and would like to be reassured they are moving in the right direction. I can understand the Harrington’s controlled reaponses and pleas, but really, you’d have to have me in a drug-induced coma to sit this still for this long. I dont’ know how they do it. Coming up on week 8? How about a bone, LE?

No. There is a priority on recovering Morgan; it is not out of the question someone in that situation might take their own life, with the knowledge of her location with her.

    suz,
    If it were me….
If I was kinda tipsey and got into a fight with a BF or XBF and found out that being turned away from re-admittance to the concert…that would drive me back in the arms of the BF/XBF. If he was the reason I was so excited for… then heck yes- Let’s make up and pick me up!

I could also see him saying Blink’s words…stay in the rain or come with me.
I am only on this theory b/c of her excitment about the “concert” and her parents keeping a short leash on *her* for the summer. This means they didn’t trust her…as she would go back into his arms.

side note: I do not see what everyone is talking about with the weight gain or strung out look in her pics. A little weight fluctuation but not a “noticeable” change.

  24. suz says:

What pray tell ARE foreign numbers, as it pertains to this case? I’m guessing it’s a phone numbers from an unregistered phone of some kind, as opposed to a regular cell or landline account? Those disposable cells favored by the Sopranos and terrorists?

If so, is the thinking that Morgan borrowed someone’s phone in order to call this unregistered phone number, specifically so the outgoing call (or text) would not show up on her phone? Or because she had already misplaced her phone (and purse) or lost the battery? So this is a number she had memorized or had somewhere on her person (assuming she is away from her purse phone–if that’s why she is borrowing a phone).

I know Blink has tried to hint at why, but I must confess I am still not getting why LE is asking (in an oh-so-innocent “no reason, just askin’” kind of way) whether anyone recalls Morgan borrowing their phone. What’s driving that question? Someone throw me a bone here—I feel like I’m missing something forehead slappingly obvious.

    Help!

A number they cannot attribute to a person, untraceable.
    B

  25. Liam Fahy says:

I`m thinking now that maybe Morgan either bumped into somebody inside the venue enexpectedly or brought her predicament to his attention when she found herself outside. Either way it points to the same guy, maybe her friends knew his identity and her intentions. Maybe they didnt but assumed it……. That granny sighting sure could be vital. Blink i`ve noticed what you would say to be footage of Ms Harrington inside the venue during Lamb of God, do any of her friends seem to be anywhere near her?

I believe I spotted Amy, not sure about Sarah. I am convinced that is Morgan.
I was convinced the other day, but this footage panned right where I could see Dee S as well.
    B

  26. BlackPearl says:

Wow. Blink’s theory plus details from others seem right to me. An ex knew she’d be there and lured her outside. A promise of meeting the band seems very plausible to me because (a)she gave so much consideration to selecting her outfit (b) she got up to go to the “bathroom” alone (c) she supposedly kissed her friend on the cheek when she got up to go to the restroom [not normal for a bathroom break but more of an extended absence and excitement/happiness] (d) if she was mad at this guy or “done” with him, perhaps she saw his “offer” as him extending an olive branch. She eventually gets into the car with him and perhaps at some point she realized that they weren’t going towards X restaurant or he insists on talking about them. She gets agitated and/or uncomfortable and realizes that she is in a bad situation. Perhaps she demands that he take her back and an argument ensues. While he may not have planned to kill her, he did expect to have success in convincing her to resume the relationship. when this didn’t look like it was going to happen he became enraged.

To illustrate this scenario, I’d like to mention a case that happened at my college when I was a student there. The guy played football in HS and was known for his sexual conquests. He met a girl from Baltimore City on Myspace and they went out on a date. After dining and going to several bars they were supposedly returning to campus (where his apartment was located). An argument ensued just before they got to campus. Rumor had it that she either declined his advances or changed her mind about sleeping with him that night. They argued and she either got out or was forced out of the car on the side of the road. The man left her there, only to return at which point the argument began again. At that point he stopped the car, got out, and beat her to death. Graphic, yes. My apologies. He concealed her body right just off the road in a wooded culvert. He actually returned to the scene another night to try to conceal evidence.

But my point is that this girl certainly didn’t expect that to happen. The guy was described as friendly and charming. Though it is certainly not her fault that this happened in any way shape or form, I think that she probably escalated the situation by arguing with him. As I said, I don’t say this in the sense of placing blame on her but more in regards to the fact that she didn’t realize the danger she was in. She had no way of knowing that he had a breaking point and was going to snap. If she had, I would bet that she would have done anything in her power to appease him or at least the situation to avoid the eventual outcome.

This thought process seems to be guiding the parents as they issue their statements and blog posts. If the BG did indeed kill MH (as opposed to holding her alive somewhere) then I could see it as entirely plausible that (a) he tried to change her heart/mind about him (b) tried to put the moves on her or (c) that at some point morgan realized she was in trouble/danger…. all of which might have resulted in her expressing frustration, anger, demands to be taken back to JPJ or VT, or rejecting him again….any of which could have pushed the wrong buttons on someone who was capable of the worst evil.

Just re-reading the grandmother’s account of the sighting:

    http://www.nbc29.com/Global/story.asp?S=11374052

Granny says she hears a loud noise, like someone was smacked. Sees a man and a possible Morgan struggling. Just wondering if the noise she heard could have been a purse hitting the ground.

  28. localcvillegirl says:

J2K #0265, thanks for drawing out that scenario in the parking lot…helps when you piece it all together.

It would not be so extremely crazy for Morgan to have had one of those phones favored by Sopranos and terrorists. My niece marched right out and bought herself one, because she’s always having her own phone taken away for constant texting.

  29. BlackPearl says:

To add to my previous post…

Just to boggle the minds of all of you… the BG in the story I mention above was studying criminal justice! After being caught and confessing, he asked if they would note in the file that he cooperated because he wanted to work for the gov.t one day.

Also, note that the BG WAS caught. He made a mistake and they caught it. Because this wasn’t exactly premeditated, he didn’t plan for all the details. While attacking the girl, he somehow pushed a button on the cell phone in his pocket causing it to dial the number he had last called. Unknowingly he called her phone and when it went to voice mail, he left a recording of what was going on…enough to catch him in his lies and get a conviction.

Here’s a link to the college newspaper article about it…

  30. radiogirl says:

When they sell a go phone,is it then activated at the time of purchase? Can they match up say “the lot number” with the store and a time when the phone is purchased?

You can see I know nothing about the disposable phones but an untraceable phone number is a red flag to say the least.

  31. BlackPearl says:

Bean, I feel that if the Granny heard a slap, that’s indeed what she heard. I don’t think the sound of a purse dropping to the ground could make that sound. I was wondering though, who slapped who. We assume this was an abusive, controlling exBF, so he could certainly have slapped MH. But could MH have slapped him? To get him to let her go? This might have given her a (false) sense of power which might explain why she ended up getting into a car with him… she thought she could hold her own. Could he have ended up with her purse during this struggle and removed the battery from her phone at this point? Then he tosses it in the trash or pockets it, seeks her out, apologizes for being a jerk and says that he’ll drive her home or somewhere to wait out the concert/rain. I put forth an idea of what happened in the car in a previous post.

  32. lily says:

TOY – it doesn’t take a senior moment to forget what these acronyms mean. I thank you for asking the question because I had forgotten what unsub was too!

  33. BlackPearl says:

Sorry to keep posting! Two things…

It is possible that MH could have had a track phone (pay as you go) especially considering that her parents were keeping such a close eye on her.

Blink, do you believe that the BG is an ex, ex or is it possible that the parents didn’t want MH dating him and she didn’t…for the summer she lived at home OR as far as they knew? But she maintained contact using a track phone that she paid for herself and/or rekindled a friendship/relationship with this person once she was back at VT in her own apartment?

Also, do you see any validity in my theory above? Of them getting into an argument for some reason, it hurting his ego, and him snapping and harming her? If so, do you think that he simply left her where the fight took place (like in the case I cited) perhaps concealing her a bit or do you think that he would have moved her body? I imagine this happening spur of the moment, like the case I mentioned. I feel like he couldn’t have drive too far with her before she realized she couldn’t trust him/didn’t want to be with him. If that were the case I feel that there would be nothing to stop me from jumping out of a moving car if I were in that situation (no joke). For that reason, I don’t know that I see him placing her on land that he knows, etc. I see him as leaving her where she was….perhaps along the route home to VT. [ I'm sorry my theory and questions are so morbid :( ]

I wonder if they have gotten his cell phone records and tracked his movements that night?

  34. suz says:

J2K, ooh! I love your big post! Can you get the hitchhiking to fit in there?

Also, now I’m confused—I thought Dee had tall groovy “knee high convertible boots” as lily identified them on a previous thread. They can kind of change color (dee’s had a white flappy looking thing she could put in the front of the boots, it looked like from the video)

  35. suz says:

Ok, so do we feel LE is being transparent when they say they don’t have any evidence she made other calls?

“Investigators are also hoping to hear from anyone who might have loaned their cell phone to a young woman fitting Miss Harrington’s description to make a call that night.

“We don’t have any evidence she made other calls,” Geller says, “but we’d like to know.”

Are we thinking this only means outside of the arena, or could it mean inside as well?

  36. hannie says:

Back to police on 64… I understand the hwy was crawling with police even at 1:30 this afternoon, so sounds like an all day thing. The gentleman I spoke with said it was state, sheriff, and unmarked. He saw up to 10 and mostly through Waynesboro exits. Maybe it’s VA traffic monitoring… who knows.

  37. suz says:

ok, I’m still not 100% sure of everything a convertible boot does, but ONE thing some can do is change from knee high to thigh high…

  38. localcvillegirl says:

Suz and BlackPearl, maybe it means that LE has The Other phone, or at least the records from XBF/BG’s phone, and are not seeing Morgan’s number on there for this time frame, but are seeing a number that they can’t match with anyone. If it’s not Morgan’s, maybe it’s someone else’s track phone that Morgan used?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jUyyuaO9KXI

Check this out at the 3 minute mark right at the end. This is from the beginning of the show. You see what appears to be Morgan and her 2 friends walking right by the stage. Bottom center of screen, 3 minute mark til end, just to the left of the big head obstructing the view. It’s in the same area where she is on the other video and walking from the direction of 312.

I so am not seeing that.. anyone?
    B

  40. Lovely says:

So this DW guy – he works security. So he might have told Morgan he could get her backstage or whatever…lures her out, then delivers her to whoever BG is…
So its planned. But whats the motive? If an ex lover is jilted, they do it on their own…but to have TWO people involved…thats kind of…odd.
Maybe this is more about her knowing too much about drug involvement than a jilted ex boyfriend?

  41. J2K says:

questioner, localcvillegirl (re: my timeline scenario)

Thanks; it helped click things into place when I realized there was a strong possibility that the black-clad blonde walking with 4 black-clad dudes was MH. I think there is a good chance X was there in that “laughing,” playful group of five walking away from the arena with MH at 9 p.m. toward RV lot.

I’m not feelin’ the “she planned to see him from the get-go/attending the concert was an elaborate ruse,” scenario however. For 1, she lived on her own, and that type of social gymnastics would not be neccessary; 2, if the stuff on her bedroom walls reflects her musical taste, then she was indeed a Metallica fan and likely wanted to see the show; 3, she was upset when she got escorted out (perhaps exBF orchestrated that happenstance from a distance?), and (between 8:20 and 8:40-ish) tried various entrances, appearing frustrated and distressed upon not being able to regain entry.

Fast forward to 8:48 when SS called, and she was suddenly “getting a ride home.” (If that’s what she told SS/and that’s what SS told Dee)

[Question: Who called who between MH and exBF?]

Ten minutes later, a still-visibly-intoxicated but now happy, joking MH was walking with a group of guys. Then black makes me think they were security guys – maybe this is actually when MySpace-shadester David Whattypeoffoolsdoyoutakeusfor had his interaction. Perhaps they were gonna smoke a j, and the exBF (security or friends with security?) invited MH along after they connected over the phone regarding her predicament.

So, if all 5 went to the RV lot and “gathered around a vehicle” at about 9:10, and around 9:20, MH is walking by herself up to the BB players, then onto the bridge to hitch for the ride the BB players wouldn’t provide, and then circling to the right of the UHall area when she is accosted by now-angry exBF trying to get at MH or her phone, I got another question:

    1. Have the three other black-clad/possibly security-related fellas told their account of the night to LE?

  42. suz says:

Blackpearl, but since we don’t know (or at least I don’t know, and LE ain’t tellin’) whether the parking lot where granny saw/heard the scuffle was pavement, gravel, dirt, grass, concrete, or what exactly, if it WERE a hard surface, I reckon a substantial purse like it sounds like Morgan’s was (since it had backpack style straps I am thinking it was large, tho I’m not a fashion bug, so will probably be proven wrong) COULD make a loud slapping noise if it fell hard and just right–or that could have been the sound of the phone slapping the pavement. OR it totally could Morgan slapping or being slapped, of course. (don’t mind me, I’m still just pouting because we don’t have any purse details…)

  43. NYMom says:

I feel that wherever she is, it’s in his comfort zone: he wouldn’t take her someplace where he was unsure of other people’s comings and goings, or their ability to see and remember him. It’s about control: he wanted to control her; he has to also control where she is.

NYS has a website that allows the public to search certain occupations, including security guards; I can’t find the same thing for VA. Anyone?

  44. J2K says:

    suz (danka!)

Yes, I can even fit in HH to my hypothesis: Leaving X in the RV Lot, she rapidly approached the BB players for a ride away from the area – maybe to somewhere she felt safe. They declined to help her so she heads onto the bridge, thumbing it for the walk over to Ivy Lane (guessing no one stopped).

I think a few minutes in the RV Lot with this guy – even if his friends stuck around – were long enough to change her laughter to fear, and she wanted to get the hell away from there – fast.

  45. rabbit19 says:

radiogirl, once again I may be able answer your question lol.

When a pre-paid phone is purchased, it is “activated” in a sense: the cashier runs it past the bar on the register and the serial number is scanned after scanning the barcode. I guess it’s the first step of 2 in activating the phone-running it past the register releases it so to speak. For example, if someone were to steal one from a store, once they tried to activate it by calling customer service, which gives them the new phone’s number(the 2nd step), they would be told that the phone belongs to whatever store that owns it and would not be able to use it. Depending on the carrier, some information is required to complete the activation. Name, birthday, address, etc. But, there are a few where none of that is required and if it was required, a person could simply say their name was John Doe and it would be acceptable.
If it’s possible I’m sure it’s been done, but calls to and from that number could be obtained from that carrier or the phone could even be pinged. Hope that helped!

    suz (re: boots)

B had a response to a post (250) said: “That blonde is Dee S. You can also see her bare legs and short boots.”
    B

Plus, the woman spotted by the witness on her way in to the arena lot had tights – at the very least we know Dee did not have tights, and if B is noting her “short boots” per the video, then I think we now know the initial speculations on Dee’s footware were off.

Plus, said witness noted to the reporter she’s been interviewed (no less than 5 times through mid-Novemeber.

From the outfit to the timing to the attention LE paid to it, no doubt that was her. Now time to identify the dudes.

  47. suz says:

Why does this article from the hook say the granny spotting was debunked? http://www.readthehook.com/stories/2009/10/29/cover-findMorgan-E.aspx

“A few stories that have surfaced in the media have been debunked. Among them were a grandmother who believed she might have seen Morgan in the Arena’s parking deck arguing with a young man, as well as reports that items of Morgan’s clothing have been found.”

  48. wpgmouse says:

“I believe I spotted Amy, not sure about Sarah. I am convinced that is Morgan. I was convinced the other day, but this footage panned right where I could see Dee S as well.
    B”

Blink, can you make a correlation to the grandmother’s account of the girl she saw wearing her hair pulled back, one earring visible.

Personally, I believe her, and I believe it was Morgan. For starters, Dee S is in the arena already at that time and Morgan was not. I think that earring was actually a flash of Morgan’s necklace, imo. I saw a post saying Dee confirmed that was her and her BF arguing, I have not been able to locate that anywhere.

“Blink, can you make a correlation to the grandmother’s account of the girl she saw wearing her hair pulled back, one earring visible.”

Did not mean to imply could you see the earring – - just wondering about her hairstyle.

Yes, possibly, but that alone to me did not make it Morgan. IE: I have rather long hair, I always have an elastic around my wrist or a Clip clinging to the bottom of my shirt or on the handles of my pocket book. Depending upon my annoyance level or activities, I may put it up, in a messy bun, ponytail or all of the above all day. It could have been all of those in a matter of hours, but I have a theory….

[Question: Who called who between MH and exBF?]

Actually, I’m thinking first texting then calling, then showing up at the arena. Now the who. Thinking

According to GH, that was the last call on her phone, rest was texts.
