Charlottesville, VA– Just passing the month mark, the disappearance of Morgan Harrington from the John Paul Jones Area located on the UVA campus, leaves us with more questions than answers. Part II

The Faces of Her Facebook

Help Find Morgan Harrington was developed by a few concerned individuals interested in spreading the word about Morgan’s disappearance and boasts over 30,000 members. Not all posts are welcome.

NelsonIn particular, a member by the name of Nelson Kane was recently banned for posting very detailed hypothesis scenarios that sparked a firestorm of interest in the self-appointed athlete scout. His posts were deleted at the request of Law Enforcement who admit tasking two officers with monitoring the web for such activity in Morgan’s case.

Additionally, Mr. Kane reached out to several individuals on facebook as well as the Harrington family’s findmorgan.com site in attempts to speak to the family directly and request an interview. The Harrington’s were made aware of the concern for such requests by sources close to the investigation.

He has recently changed his facebook drastically. Nkoldfacebook

Mr. Kane, a member of the family owning the longtime furniture store of the same name in Charlottesville is also a UVA alumni and season ticket holder. In addition to UVA, Kane also claims to have attended Virginia Tech on many of his many social networking profiles. He also fancies himself as somewhat of a Rock band critic.

On his site, nkscouting.com which he has maintained Nkane1since 2001, Kane chronicles his trips to scout mostly High School basketball and football athletes. In an effort to make his site more interesting (his words) he details the travel experience, routes, times and in some cases photos of his visits to High Schools mostly within a few hours driving distance.

Very early on in Morgan’s case, blinkoncrime.com explored the idea that perhaps the double murder of VT freshmen David Metzler and Heidi Childs on August 27th should be investigated as a possible link to Morgan’s case simply because they attend the school and Morgan and Heidi bare a remarkable resemblance to one another.

As far as very odd coincidences go, the location of Nelson Kane’s scouting foray the evening of the August 28th could not be more relevant.

Kane scouted the game at Jefferson Forest High School. The very Kane0828School Heidi Childs graduated from a year earlier. Unlike most of Kane’s other journal entries of his athlete accolades, there is no mention of his travel experience to or from Forest High School so it is unclear where he left from, when he got there, or when he returned home.

This is in no way an accusation that Mr. Kane had any involvement whatsoever in such a heinous crime, of course, but given his proclivities for leaving at all hours of the day and night his keen attention to travel detail and familiarity with the area: Perhaps he saw someone or something amiss in his trip that could help investigators.

Nk1017a

On Saturday October 17th, Kane scouts a game, listens to the UVA football game on his way home and is home in plenty of time to make the concert.

Blink how do you know he was at the concert you ask? I do not. I do know he knows alot about security at the JPJ Arena, how to navigate the different lots near Uhall, and of course that there are blue portable lavatories next to Lanigan Field. Fwiw, I think those were here Dad’s words. I also think he may have said it strategically with a thought to the fact she may have been kidnapped, in other words, she had no money for someone to steal, that the “kidnapper” would have to reach out to them.

    SPEECHLESS.

You can be a victim’s advocate without being a victim of your own stupidity. You don’t believe that Dr. Harrington was sending a coded message to possible kidnappers any more than you believe that kidnappers exist. Get real and quit humping Dr. H’s leg.

Wherever Morgan is, I hope she is finally safe and free.

, Morgan went with someone she knew and thought she could trust. While we are at it, can someone explain to me why her car has not been processed

    ====================================

Why dont you ask your new friends that question? Does LE have access to the car? Why does Dan insist it never went to Cville? How did it get back go Roajoke? Where were Morgan’s loved ones the night she disappeared? How were they ruled out?

Which new friends are you referring to?

  4. on belief says:

Ross, that was original info that has been updated. It was Morgan’s car, driven by male friend that was at JPJ.
    B

    ==============================

When did Dr. Harrington update this information about Morgan’s car? TIA

Is this somehow the only detail provided by the Harringtons that you don’t believe?

He did not discuss it further as it was clarified by Connie Geller. I never said I did not believe anything the Harrington’s said. The Harrington’s are the bereaved parents of a missing child you assclown.

    I’m sure I missed some

Lemmee see. It couldn’t possibly be Morgan’s own doing or that of her beloved family’s. She must be missing due to some nefarious reason that some evil person caused. Her parents are less than forthcoming yet its LE’s fault for any information withheld?

The truth doesn’t change. Rev. Diana said the UVA LE called the Harringtons at 8:30am. DanH said he called the friends when Morgan didn’t come home for her 12pm math study and check book balance lessons.

LE said all along Morgan’s car was at UVa. Dr. Harrington insists Morgan’s car was never there.

The friends let Morgan go without alarm for some reason. Either it has normal for her to go off on her own; or they knew who Morgan was hooking up with that night.

It is not the rest of the world’s fault that these girls made bad choices with dire consequences. Personal accountability never goes out of style.

What is it your attempting to contribute to the dialog here?

Because if it is your common practice to be an invited guest and take a dump on the tile as soon as you hit the solarium, you should probably take your verbal graffiti elsewhere.

    How stupid are you people?

    1) Tucker didn’t say ” he will return for the first game of big 10 important game he didnt return.cavaliers lost 69-66.

    UVA IS IN THE ACC

    2) Tucker actually said, “UVa. senior forward Jamil Tucker told ACCVirginia.com contributor Scott German tonight that he plans to be back with the Virginia basketball team after its trip to Cancun for the final two games of the Cancun Challenge.”

TUCKER TOOK A PERSONAL LEAVE FROM TEAM.

HE PLANS TO BE BACK WITH THE TEAM.

NOTHING ABOUT PLANS TO PLAY IN GAMES WITH TEAM.

IF YOU KNEW ANYTHING ABOUT THIS LEVEL OF PLAY, THERE WOULD BE NO NEED FOR THIS POST.

Obviously none of you were ever eligible for admittance at UVa. Much less allowed to root for the them. Reading is fundamental to an aspiring crime writer’s potential, “DEFINATELY!”

You are misinformed, but that’s not hard to do when your hell bent on making someone else wrong for your own agenda, apparently.

Imette St. Guillen–another inebriated young woman, preyed upon by the bar bouncer (“security”) Mr. Littlejohn at the last place she was in, who took her body in his van to an area he knew.

IMO, Morgan’s showing her mom outfits to wear and her exuberant but oddly phrased “we’re here to see Metallica, right?” to total strangers at the venue suggest that she knew she was going to do more than see Metallica. She wasn’t there to see Metallica. She planned and was looking forward to meeting someone. What his plan was, we have yet to learn.

  8. NYCDude says:

    “O/T but where is KWAN?”
To my knowledge he was never interviewed at all regarding the case, and disappeared quietly into the shadows. I’m familiar with the other victims (who survived, I think they got the right (and only) guy.

Sorry for the O/T comments. Let’s hope LE gets a break in this case soon.

  9. J2K says:

    skyler (re: #1338)
I always respect and learn from your posts, sky, but I have to express my skepticism that MH was “lured” out of the venue with the thought of “meeting the band.” Maybe in an ABC after-school special, but I just can’t see a real person leaving this arena purposefully – and at the threat of no re-admittance to the actual concert he/she paid for – with the *secret* ambition of getting ushered backstage… just before Metallica goes on. Professional musicians are not that exciting; and women such as Morgan are not that naive to think they are. Also, as you were the one to bring this up, IF that was the case (okay naysayers – it may have been a Big Secret Plot), MH would surely have not planned for such an …opportunity… by wearing a Pantera T-shirt. Give the poor woman a little more credit.

    B – (re: #1334)
“She goes towards the arena, he toward the street, and then turns back.
My take: She tries to get back in, he waits in the wings?”
    B

Wouldn’t that extend the timeline? I have doubts LE is really stretching its apparent “need-to-know-info/draw out POI” tactic to this level, and you already indicated to me that it was your feeling MH did not re-approach the JPJ arena post-9:30 pm, after leaving it.

    But more frustratingly:

Some of you are is zeroing in on the significance of the possible placement or latitude/longitude of a purse, phone and battery cover owned by MH… which I get: it’s all we got.
The answer to these questions, however, does not make these “discoveries” particularly notable or worth post after post of introspection. I’m sorry to seem dismissive, but the off-chance there was tangible, relative, non-MH DNA on these items (handled by multiple people who had no idea of their significance before touching them Sunday morning) is remote, and LE’s got that trace evidence by now if it existed… though, it doesn’t appear to have drastically furthered the investigation. If the battery, as opposed to its case, was found in a different area and, as such, extended the timeline or indicated the crime scene, I’ll give LE the benefit of the doubt they’d be on top of that, too.

MH was in the vicinity of JPJ on the night of Oct. 17 and was separated from these personal items at some point. The minutia surrounding their discovery will tell us little: she either dropped them knowingly/unknowingly; they were forcibly stripped from her; they were used as a weapon; they were planted by the perp after the crime; they were tossed by a petty thief and subsequently found in a different area than they were discarded…

These scenarios would only be significant (to non-LE) if there was an even bigger shroud of mystery surrounding this case (say, she took off for JMU alone, and disappeared). We know where she was. We know where she “disappeared” from. And we know she clearly didn’t have her backpack-broken-strap-purse and three-quarters of her phone when she did so.

She either left that scene dead, voluntarily, or was forced. Her phone is DONE at 9:30 pm, and later found in pieces. If a “perp” planted the purse/phone, neglected to notice he left it behind, or purposely left it behind without the battery, it doesn’t change the fact that their discovery loosely means she was in the vicinity of her personal belongings’ final resting spot on that night – ie, she was in the arena/out of the arena/near the Copeley Bridge/gone. The fact that these items were found changes nothing in that regard, save for indicating she did not spontaneously self-combust (there would have been singe marks).

Not that I don’t chase theories in wrong directions ad nauseum, but aren’t we past this?
And if the answer is ‘no, we shouldn’t be’ – what more could we possibly learn from these items?

Now, if anyone can tell me who MH was with when she left the front of the JPJ arena at 9 pm, I’m all ears…

  10. Elizabeth says:

What if her battery just went dead? Happens all the time to my girls who keep forgetting batteries need to be charged.
Her battery is missing. If it were just dead and on her phone, it would still ping.
    B

  11. Elizabeth says:

I still don’t believe Morgan ever went into that concert. I think she and her friends ended up in town early enough to do some partying. The friends were ready to leave for the concert and minus Morgan but with her purse in their car…they left for the concert. At some time Morgan realized they were gone. She got a ride to the arena and tried to get them to come out and help her get her purse and her jacket. They would not budge because the concert was starting and Morgan had made her bed and could lay in it.
Morgan meets up with her fate. Friends leave concert, full of themselves and toss Morgans purse out the window..minus the battery.
Next day DH calls when Morgan is no where to be found. Friends hop out of bed and race up to arena to try and retrieve purse and cover their butts.
I think they were all kids and kids do crazy things some times. Its hard to read about hard drugs and mental problems.
I don’t believe Morgan is alive. I think by now we would have heard something. I don’t see any of these crazies keeping Morgan locked up in a room while they are on Facebook or going about their lives.
I believe Morgans actions that fateful night and her friends reactions to whatever was going on with Morgan led to her demise. None of their faults just the way it went down that night.
Something everybody in her family and friend circle will keep asking forever..what if. How very sad for all of them.

  12. localcvillegirl says:

J2K, I agree, again, that the pocket book/cell phone thing will not find Morgan. The bag could have been dropped right outside the front doors of JPJ for all we know, or left at the car where Morgan and the guys dressed in black possibly went to smoke a J (all hypothetical). Then it could have been picked up, gone through, thrown back down any number of times. Maybe a wayward drunk goofbag took the battery for his own phone, or threw it down a drain.

Also, NYCDude, I agree wholeheartedly that the scariest thing to a tall black basketball player is a beautiful drunk white girl. Sorry to stereotype here, but it’s the truth, in defense of the bb players. That whole Duke case (I personally believe the lacrosse players were guilty of long-standing bad behavior if not of raping the dancer) sent shivers down the spines of coaches and athletes all over the place. I know, for instance, that the UVa lacrosse coaches used the Duke case to explain over and over again to their players that they are magnets and to avoid these situations at all costs. I still believe that the bb players talked to Morgan but left in the opposite direction.

NYMom (#1349), I too still think she had other plans from the git go. Maybe with XBF. And maybe he wasn’t so X to her, only to the parents, which the friends are struggling with now.

So, there is no patrol unit assigned to this area, or is it patrolled by Park Rangers in addition to manning the gates?

I cannot believe the blatant discrimination that still exists. You are full cf shit claiming you know the UVa Lax team was told to avoid these situations blah blah.

UVa men’s soccer and men’s lax are national powerhouses.

The dook lax case was a travesty of justice. Nothing more and nothing less. Precious was never assaulted by anyone at the Buchanan Street house. LE knew she lied. Her coworker knew she lied.

UVa had no reason to warn their athletes as they already had a code of conduct. If they fail to conduct themselves within the guidelines, oh well. But the code was there long b/f the Dook scandal took place.

Who else did Morgan talk to besides the bball players? If they left in the opposite direction, who left in her direction? Did Morgan leave in the same direction as her thumb?

Her friends left her there and never followed up because……….

  29. BlackPearl says:

Thoughts on DW refusing MH re-entrance…

Perhaps he was in on the exBFs plans…exBF instructed DW and friends not to allow MH re-entrance that night. Perhaps DW refused MH re-entrance that night bc she was no longer part of the “crew” (no longer dating exBF) and therefore was no longer privy to the “benefits” (re-entry) of knowing security. Perhaps exBF knew that the friends—including DW—would take this stance and therefore he knew she wouldn’t be able to get back in.

Could the phone conversation between SS and MH have included the suggestion from SS to try the side door or door X because DW—or another friend of exBF…BG– was working there? Perhaps this is why MH was frustrated/upset bc she already knew that they wouldn’t help her out/make an exception? Perhaps this is why she said she’d find another ride home… because it was her only other option to get away from the exBF outside the venue….

I’m also curious now as to the age of the female security guard who denied MH reentrance. Supposedly there was a minor confrontation or exchange, yes? What if MH knew this female security guard through the exBF and expected her to act as a friend and let her back in. Perhaps they exchanged words after MH realized she was pretending not to recognize her or was simply being cold hearted. Or perhaps MH told this girl that exBF lured her outside on purpose and that the female security guard ought to feel bad about this and let her back in. Perhaps they argued about this.

Because I believe exBF…BG to be security (though he may or may not have worked that night) and all of his friends were working that night, MH knew she wouldn’t get back into JPJA…not even into the lobby or security office to keep warm until the show ended and her friends came out. She had to find a warm, safe place elsewhere. Or perhaps, knowing that exBF…BG was lurking or working and that all of his friends were working, she didn’t feel safe sticking around JPJA…. To illustrate this point I reference the Milgram Experiment in psychology which showed that people tend to be subservient to persons of seeming authority. What if MH had decided to sit outside the arena and exBF…BG or friends came up and escorted her someplace else…most observers wouldn’t intervene since security guards have a position of authority. Even if their intent was malicious, no one would intervene. Basically I’m proposing that MH walked through the parking lots and/or onto the bridge because staying at JPJA offered her no protection.

Perhaps she sought a ride with the BB players or perhaps she just stayed with them as long as possible for the protection they offered. If she did ask for a ride or to use their phone and they declined, then they are probably feeling REALLY guilty right now. Maybe this is why one of the players had to take a leave of absence for personal reasons…

  30. BlackPearl says:

Let’s say MH gets outside and actually meets up with the exBF…BG and maybe even some friends [witness saw MH walking with 4 young men dressed in black…security anyone???] Could they have told her they needed to kill some time before meeting the band..hence the walking around and happy demeanor? Perhaps she eventually finds out that the meet and greet isn’t going to happen. She tries to get back into the arena on her own but is rejected by friends of her exBF. She calls SS, upset that she can’t get back in. SS tells her to try other doors, to look for security people they’re “friends” with. MH knows this won’t work and tells her she’ll find a ride home because in her mind, she needs to get out of dodge fast. Perhaps she walks through the parking lot while texting her friend who lives out of the area and isn’t a suspect [taken from DH’s comments]. exBF approaches, wants to know who she is texting and what is being said and makes a grab for the phone. They struggle over possession of the phone [as per Granny’s sighting] until someone is slapped. Perhaps MH slapped exBF to get him to let her go. She could then remove the battery from the phone so that he won’t be able to see what was texted. Perhaps exBF slapped MH and got possession of the phone and after reading the text was either enraged or pretended to play cool and offered her a ride home which may have been what she was asking for. He could have removed the battery at this point but returned the phone to her. Say she declines his offer for a ride home. She then walks the parking lot, talks to BB players, asks for a ride. {NYCDude points out that the BB players had good reason to decline help with all the cases of false accusations against athletes]. Getting no help she continues moving, walking towards the banks and shopping center. exBF pulls up on the bridge and offers one last time to give her a ride….she hasn’t gotten a ride from anyone else and he points out that HH isn’t safe nor is walking around alone at night. He IS security after all, so she gets into his car.

it just is unfortunate that there are those out there in person and in the cyber world who now chose to feed upon the grieving family. i know that one would say “never say never” but this is not the case here. they just wanted to incite! well, job done! i for one, will continue to hold this case close, do what i can and learn what i can to help and find Morgan and become an advocate for all those missing.

thank you blink, for helping me “see the light”!

Cattymama, I just checked FB and still see a ton of the black/blue symbol as profile pics. Not sure if anyone took theirs down or who you were looking at compared to who I was looking at.

As a side note, I mentioned that the person I was creeped out by last night was friends with a few “famous” singers…all female and all young (16 and 17 years old). This set off my creep-o-meter and talking to my boyfriend cemented it. He hit the nail on the head by describing it as “predatory” behavior. Older guys appear more attractive to younger girls…there is deinfitely a power dynamic in that situation. In addition, what 20-something-year-old LE or LE-wannabe listens to tween pop?

What if it wasn’t Metallica Morgan was interested in, but one of the back-up bands? I looked at videos of both Lamb of God and Gojira, and LOG has been compared to Pantera. Gojira seems a bit younger and are environmentally minded, according to their website. I’m pretty sure Morgan had something up her sleeve for that night, but what? her friends were aware, hence the “We wouldn’t have done it…” comment from her friend. Was she told by someone that one of those bands wanted to meet her after their set, maybe put her in a music video? That would explain the three outfits she tried on.

Someone sitting behind her during the opening acts said she was “dancing around and acting crazy”, then she leaves to go to the bathroom before the main act? I don’t think Metallica WAS the main event for her, she left when she did in hopes of “meeting/appearing in” one of the other bands’ vids. LOG is from the C-ville area, so there are any number of local people who could have ties to them.

From what we can glean from pics/tidbits of her life, Morgan was really into music and enjoyed that whole concert/festival scene. I think someone from that part of her life, whether it’s an XB, a stalker who had a crush, or just someone in the music biz, is responsible for her disappearance. She’s a beautiful girl, and roadies/band-followers are always searching the crowd for hot girls to party with after the show.

    Mandy, thank you, Yep.

To All, I had to delete like 50 post. Remember, if you don’t feed the troll they go back under the bridge.

shoot — my post didn’t go thru —

what I was saying is: J2K, I, too, ,respect and learn from your posts !! You often succinctly state what I am thinking

As I do everyone here — with the exception of one “you know who” mentioned in my above posts —

I also deeply appreciate every poster here, their thoughts and shared research —

I am always always deeply moved by local posters who get in their cars, on their own time, and search locations, help us who are not local understand the physical lay-out of the surrounding areas —

The posters here are intelligent and all dedicated to finding Morgan and who is responsible for her disappearance.

I hope LE is monitoring this board and wish they would throw us even a small bone to let us know whether we’re off in the right direction.

Best wishes to all who come here — we WILL find Morgan !!

“Peace out” as the kids say : )

Just wanted to share this article -”Morgan Harrington’s friends hope to generate leads at Vinton parade”-

    http://www.wdbj7.com/Global/story.asp?S=11616285

    snipped:
“This is supposed to be the most wonderful time of the year, but for the family of missing Virginia Tech student Morgan Harrington it’s the most difficult.

Her friends plan to use the holidays to remind people she’s still missing.

The Holidays came alive Thursday night for the annual Christmas parade in downtown Vinton.

It’s always fun time but this year it takes on a more serious tone.

Friends of Morgan Harrington are out of in full force raising awareness, in the parade and along the parade route.”

I am not sure if the friends that were with Morgan that night will be there, or not. I just felt it was important to praise these friends that are doing what they can to help bring Morgan home.

on belief: Obviously none of you were ever eligible for admittance at UVa.

This is like the mouse in the corner backing toward a mousetrap, squawking to a row of advancing mouser cats, “You don’t know the difference between Limburger and Stinking Bishop!”

Hmmm….confused here with Belief’s anger. Who, exactly, is he angry at? Can’t get into UVA???? Bwahahaha…we’re a Hokie family here.

  45. localcvillegirl says:

To all: I’d like to apologize if I offended anyone by my earlier post #1363. I meant no offense by mentioning the color of the bb players or the color of Morgan, and I certainly was not discriminating against the bb players. I have lived my life proving the opposite, and I dare “on belief” to challange me on that. I am also sure that I know more about the UVa lacrosse team than this bozo does. He can’t even begin to engage me on that one.

None taken. None implied. Keep to the convoy people. Eyes straight ahead.
    Fondly,

Hi Kmazing, IMO the point is that she stayed for Lamb of God yet left before Metallica took the stage.

  47. NYMom says:

    @ Kmazing:

To me, this is a strange exchange. Wouldn’t a more reasonable answer have been “Who the eff are they?” or “OMG, they suck!” SHE had just asked them the question, and then she doesn’t care about the answer? Sorry, I think it’s off–and why state the obvious?

True, I didn’t hear the exchange and can’t know the cadence, emphasis on which words, tone, etc–but adding the “right?” makes me think she was almost privately goofing a little on the answerer or anyone else–including her friends–who heard the exchange.

    Observer comment:
“I strongly encourage all readers to pay very close attention to the cogent observations in J2K’s Dec. 5, 9:38am post, as she articulates well some important points for readers’ consideration.”

    Observer,
Respectfully … I don’t quite know how to respond to your words “cogent observations” in that I am not sure of what you may or may not be implying.

I was just informed that the facebook profile photo in question is being used in honor of the officers who were killed in Washington. The person didn’t know, however, if it has been used at other times for LE in general.
