Orlando, FL– On the eve of the one year anniversary of the recovery of 34 month old Caylee Marie Anthonys remains; the defense team representing the woman charged with her murder is preparing for one of the most difficult court appearances to date.

Tomorrow, one year ago, Caylee was found while her grandparents and Team Casey dined on crab puffs and lounged pool side at the Ritz.

Ritzbaezcheck2-small4Among the Ritz Carlton guests, courtesy of ABC, was the Anthony Family Private Investigator, Dominic Casey.

Mr. Casey is attempting to don the “Privilege Parka” and avoid an upcoming deposition scheduled for December 16 and of course subsequent testimony at trial. The State has issued subpoenas to both George and Cindy Anthony for tomorrow’s hearing. They are looking to sit in front of the bar.

Might be advisable given the circumstances. I suggest a single malt of humility with a dignity chaser.

By his own account, George Anthony has not seen or spoken to Dominic Casey since February 10, 2009.

It is not known if perhaps Baez never took the time to explain to Mr. Casey  the definition of “privilege”.

It is not thatAnthonysCourt51909 he would get the “privilege” of schtupping his Clients wife while their baby granddaughter was missing and later found murdered in the area his Client*slash*PillowPal sent him to search a month earlier.

O yeah, I went there.

If he is stupid enough through his attorney Diana Tennis to continue the privilege party line I predict Ms. Drane Burdick will be well prepared to demonstrate her skills in verbal guillotine simply by using Dom’s own words. I am not a huge Dr. Phil fan I admit, but there is a quote from him I feel resonates for Cindy Anthony specifically:

If he will do it with ya, he will do it to ya. 100%

Cindy, when you read this, you know I come from a place of knowledge and there are some doors even you do not want opened.

Mountainous Motionous Interruptus

To Deluge is to Delude? That is the Question.

Baez_casey_lyonIt is unclear if Ms. Lyon and the Baez jesters get paid by the word in their motions, or if they own stock in the local optometrist.

What is clear, is they have an endless supply of ink for the laser jet.

Could that be because they have not put out the benjamens for the bevy of experts we were expecting from the hearing about who is funding this shindig?

Even the dubious Dr. Lee is on record saying he does not get out of bed until the next check. *snark alert*

How do you ask for a year to prepare for a trial and not list a single expert as a witness, or lob a smidge of discovery back over the net?

Is February 1st the BIG BAEZ REVEAL? ( Insert laugh track)

Yesterday, Prosecutor Linda Drane Burdick returned fire, exposing what appears to be some seriously shoddy defense tactics to open up the files of the almost 4000 Texas Equusearch Volunteers in response to the mountains of motions filed by the defense the day before Thanksgiving.

“Dialing for Disgruntled”

It is not surprising or original to learn that Andrea Lyon and Jose Baez et al have spent weeks calling through TES search rosters to find anyone that would talk to them voluntarily. Many have. Baez and team apparently thought they hit pay-dirt with Joe Jordan and Laura Buchanan.

Joe Jordan was a volunteer on the first search in Orlando for Caylee Anthony. He also broke his agreement with TES by posting Youtube videos of the search and blogging about locations and findings. It was a serious no no and when he was outed, he began his campaign to speak negatively about Tim Miller and TES.

In the defense’s motion to modify access to TES records,  Mr. Jordan claims to have kept very detailed records of his search efforts, when his team of 5–6 members were searching the alleged “exact area” where Caylee was ultimately found. For me, when someone uses the word detailed, I make the assumption that entails having more than one name of the other 5 people:

..”Among the five people with me were Danny Ibison and his dog, and a Panama City Deputy with one of his two dogs…”

Within the search form Jordan alleges he provided to TES, it would REQUIRE the names and ID’s of the individuals searching that area.

Could it be that Ibison and the others would not support Jordan’s statement because the area, exact area, where Caylee’s remains were found, was underwater on September 1st?

Speaking on the condition of anonymity exclusively to blinkoncrime.com, a source within OCSO confirms just that. Ibison maintains the site was underwater, the as- yet-unamed- publicly “deputy” will confirm there were meetings within TES to come up with a solution to use some sort of aquatic equipment to search the submerged area, but it was considered too dangerous and too small for a boat.

What motive would Mr. Jordan have to (un-surreptitiously to him) record his interview with Morty?

Joe JordanJJ records the audio for a spell and then gets around to calling Det. Edwards at OCSO to ostensibly get a high five.

That high five was nearly a low five behind his back from the state for a 3rd degree wiretapping felony.

Wait for it….. AND he is “materially” changing his story after apparently being schooled about what happens when you are prepared to lie in court, regardless of your agenda.

There is no “I” in perjury. Look out Baez, someone is out of there FUGUE state in time for tomorrow.

If I were a betting gal, I would say that Lyon will not lead with asking Ms. Drane Burdick where she picked out her suit or what she has in her nightstand drawer.

However, I do believe that an excerpt or 3 from Andea Lyon’s stand up impersonation of Lisa Lampanelli may end up on the record.

All that aside, I am humbled by tomorrow’s anniversary I thought I would never see. I will never forget the call in which both joy and anguish filled my throat.  “We got her, it’s her.”

To the FBI, FDLE, FBI CSI, OCSO CSI, SS and OCSO, 9th Circuit Medical Examiners Office, Dr. G and SH– You know who you are– From the bottom of my heart I thank you for the commitment you showed this child.

You are her sweet voice now, backed by your collective baritone.

I am hopeful for an anti-crescendo or dimiuendo, directed to the finale.

If that does not work, then we scrap. End is the Same. Justifies the Means.

C&G are so lucky, they get so many chances to yell and scream at a murderer and do not take this opportunity. They never loved Caylee, they loved statute! And they never even had it. The public has access to Casey via mail, and they don’t hesitate to utilize it? Someone mentioned that Casey needs support, Caylee needed support do you see a Anthony pattern here? If there isn’t anything in it for them, why do it? Lyons and all her wind makes for a boring court hearing. JB isn’t a man he is a suit. JUSTICE FOR CAYLEE!!! and thank you State of Florida for speaking for her and standing for her!

  5. lil Lucy says:

I have to tell you, had Casey told the truth from the beginning she would have been arrested and no one would have given a rats arse of what her visits entailed. Had Casey been truthful maybe she would have had a semi defense. When you have every opportunity to save yourself, turning yourself in or saying it was an accident the law would be applied lawfully, but when you keep your dead baby in your trunk long enough to create evidence, you lie to professional detectives of where you work, even worse have a father with that same exact experience who is following you around and asking questions of your phantom employer, do you really expect special privledges????The Judge will say this in his ruling, all of this is self enduced, he said early on: Ms. Anthony and the truth are strangers, something like that. If you don’t want people to be enraged after seeing this unfold because of the 31 days gone by, then don’t do it!

I would go see my loved one in jail, I would tell them they did wrong, I would not ask I would state you did a horrible thing, now you have to suck it up and pay for your sins and your crime. JUSTICE FOR CAYLEE!

Eyewitness News has discovered that on at least two occasions jail staff had to step in and Baez was warned repeatedly about hugging Casey during their visits.

A jail report states: “The inmate’s attorney was observed hugging inmate and was advised that physical contact was prohibited.”

A week later, another report stated: “Baez again observed hugging his client.”
Eyewitness news’ legal analyst Bill Schaeffer said it’s unusual that an attorney would ever touch a client.

“The more experience you are in handling these type of clients or situation, the less likely you are to place yourself in a situation that could be regarded as a compromising situation,” said Schaeffer.

When Casey was out on bond, there were several times that she would spend six hours a day at Baez’s office including Saturdays. There’s nothing criminal about having a relationship with a client, but Schaeffer said there are ethical issues.

“The appellate court could find that relationship overstepped the bounds of attorney client relationship and affected that performance and order a new trial,” he said.

As indeed is Jose Baez’s web site http://www.baezlawfirm.com. I personally found some real ‘gallows’ humor in the fact that on his home page he has a link under the title Success Stories, High Profile Murder Case, that goes nowhere! I guess he is just planning for the future?

In fact a further examination of his web site reveals that none of the links, not even the Contact Us link works. One wonders why he even has the web site to begin with?

So just who is Jose Baez, he seems to to talk a good game, but is he as good as he would have us believe. Maybe not. He loves the high profile cases, thats for sure. Something like the Caylee Anthony case is right up his ally, but can he produce?

His history is a little shakey to say the least. Prior to becoming involved with the Caylee Anthony case, he represented Nilton Diaz, a Lake County man arrested in the death of boxer Wilfredo Vazquez’s granddaughter. Nilton Diaz has been found guilty, and is awaiting sentence.

Prior to the Diaz disaster Baez represented Kissimmee Mayor George Gant. This 2007 trial was entertainment at it’s finest. Gant had been suspended from office and accused of sexual battery in connection with a gynecology exam in 2002. This air tight case fell apart when the prosecutions star witness suddenly refused to testify. So score one for Baez, but it was hardly due to his legal abilities.

In 2006 Baez took on an equally improbable case. Elvira Garcia stood accused of kidnapping her room mates 6 week old daughter. This particular case was dropped by police when it became evident that the entire event was a domestic squable.

So where does this leave our illustrious attorney? Well based on my research Jose Baez really does not have much of a background. The only serious case that actually made it into court, Nilton Diaz, he lost!

It is clear though that Jose Baez is looking to break into the big leagues. To do that, he is going to have to clean up his act, going on national TV and saying things like “the grand jury system doesn’t work”, or “It is not in my clients best interest for her to tell what she knows” hardly endears him to either us poor mortals, or the judges that he might appear before.

While I vehemently disagreed with the 1995 acquittal of OJ Simpson, I did have great respect for his lawyers, Johnny Cochran and F. Lee Baily. These guys exuded style and panache. They worked the crowd.

Jose Baez on the other hand just exudes sleaze!

A week later, another report stated: “Baez again observed hugging his client.”

The room Baez and Anthony meet in is very small and typically there is a desk and two chairs.

Sources told Eyewitness News that on one occasion, Anthony was sitting and Baez was very close to her face. A corrections officer had to go into the room to separate them.

“Orange County jail policy forbids any kind of touching between visitors and inmates. Mr. Baez was cooperative and agreed not to repeat the behavior. Mr. Baez has always been professional and cooperative in his interactions with the Orange County Corrections Department,” jail spokesman Alan Moore said in a statement.

#408, WSH- You asked how no one on the defense anticipated any of this. IMO, they are busy writing scripts for interviews, searching for clients that can lead them to argue a case in front of the supreme court, fantasizing about duct-taping Kathy Belich’s mouth, dreaming of what’s for lunch, planning travel itineraries, setting up talk show appearances, praying their money source is not uncovered, mentally exaggerating their own importance, planning their post hearing comments, weighing the merits of Krispy Kreme vs. Dunkin’, planning their next botched brief, reminiscing about happier times holed up in the office with a client and licorice, plea deals for fraud, plea deals for murder, those smart attorneys across the aisle, smirking and eye rolling at the smart attorneys, replaying the mental song- “C and D, sitting in a tree”, planning the next lecture for law class, wondering what would Nejame do, etc.

    But I don’t really know.

so many of the posts from all of us have a common thread. Deceit and lack of ethics and morals. Baez is perfectly comfortable with blowing smoke everyone’s collective skirt (or pants). He’s okay with isolating Casey for months from receiving advice from people that had more experience and knowledge of what the proper course probably should be. Meanwhile, without ever uttering a single legal noteworthy comment boosts his media profile and the payola to come. It’s in HIS best interest to keep the balls spinning in the air.

The Anthony’s are a walking billboard for shams and liars.

  28. Kleat says:

wsh, yes– but the last video ‘removed’ was a direct ‘Cindy direction’, and it (along with several of the videos in the build-up to this one timed just before the hearing) made some very serious allegations about law enforcement, directly about Mr. Kronk and ‘what you guys don’t know’ but I do and have proof, etc etc.

This was first made ‘private’ and unviewable to non-friends or non-YouTube members, then it was ‘removed by user’. This wasn’t your amateur hour production in the same way as her others. The setting was different, Christmas tree on the left, coffee table with Christmas decor, a rather ‘calm’ scene, like a ‘fireplace chat’ with the speaker dressed in casual dressy tan slacks and top– very ‘smooth’ for a JW production. Sitting in the corner of the beige couch. Completely unlike the JW attire or video scenes of the past. Someone helped with the set design, a camera tripod or very steady camera person, there was good focus, and presented a sense of seriousness. There was also the subjects covered, right along Casey’s lines, to blame the police, to blame Mr. Kronk, to allude to ‘evidence’ and ‘proof’ of someone else, the suggestion that there is more she will have to tell.

WSH, this reaks of Anthony/defense intervention, I suspect we know who, the same person who seemingly did not know well enough, to acknowledge her in the court hallway as she passed even with a polite nod. (It was as if ‘let’s pretend we don’t know each other– better that way).

I think the A’s were confident that people who know JWW, will just discount the videos, as we’ve been doing until recently, as from someone who isn’t credible, has problems, and someone who ‘the defense CAN’T be serious’ about. But she is well beyond that with damage to Mr. Kronk and even to her own family, in her recent serious accusations along the defense/Cindy lines. Cindy doesn’t care who she uses, and may even believe that this person is doing this to herself, who cares about the person’s children, it’s only Casey who is important here, everyone else is expendable. And besides, JWW might turn out to be a nice target for investigation herself, if not investigated by authorities, she too might become a Kronk and probably never held accountable anyway given her problems.

JWW is not doing all this on her own. She is ‘set up’, that ‘Christmas tree/couch fireside chat’ was so evident of this.

Now my suspicions turn to JWW’s ability to speak Spanish– an easy task for an Italian speaker. Will she hit the Spanish media aimed at the Spanish speaking jury pool as Mr. Baez’s sidekick and proof of his ‘railroaded client’? She could do– saying she has this proof, she is even an eye-witness to someone walking into the woods.

If anyone needs more proof of JWW being given the push to do this, listen to Marinade Dave’s calliope piece ‘day at the courthouse Oct 16th’, where JWW said that ‘today Mr. Mort, Master’s degree holding private investigator, told her that her photos are proof that the body was not there’. If that isn’t setting loose the words for the media to hear, propagating a lie by using this woman, what is?’

This is quite different from any broad claim of ‘privilege’ which Ms. Tennis also argues as his client’s position– Mr. Casey seems to really be arguing (without a legal leg) in any way he can, ‘I don’t WANNA!’

    4 1/2 mins

“… she [Ms. Drane-Burdick] doesn’t have the right to set him [Dom Casey private citizen] for a deposition… the other difference [subp. for depo vs investigative subp.] is… that once that transcript is filed with the court, ahh… it is ahh… public record which is yet another reason why ahh Mr. Casey does not want to be involved in any part of a system that will lead to… ahh… his exploitation frankly.”

    and later…
“Dominick CAsey does not wish to have any more involvement in this case than as ordered by the court.”

Anyone really expect Mr. Dominic Casey to talk to the state this coming Wednesday? Mr. Conway and Mr. Baez, on behalf of their respective clients will not allow this by taking this formally to a hearing for ‘court intervention’ on each and every question raised.

I’m still catching up but have to say thanks to Westside for #376. Get Bigfoot out of my state!

Mr. Casey won’t be deposed for many many more months, well after any plea?? He doesn’t want to have his role in covering up the whereabouts of a baby girl’s body, and to protect his personal relationship with the killer’s mother from becoming tabloid news. All the while, he was on camera in the RITZ room hallways and on late night walks with his client’s mother to console her while her husband did whatever husbands do in this position with ABC News right in the building and paying the shot (so they were not, at the time, going to leak anything because they had gains and profits to make by protecting their Anthony relationship).

Dominick Casey is only worried about himself and his ‘reputation’, and he is responsible for that himself.
He is going to be “interviewed” in some fashion on Wed 12/16.

You and I are on the same thought process! I believe you are my twin…LOL! Anyways, I enjoy readnig your comments. Thought provoking and very observant. I am in awe of the contributors of this site and yes, that includes Blink. BRILLIANT MINDS!

Have you been to T. Lennamon’s blog? Pretty interesting and he does address some remarks he has made about Casey.

This is cut from his blog and is point on IMO.
Maternal Filicide – The Profile of Mothers Who Kill Their Children

A general profile of mothers most at risk of committing filicide has developed. Typically, the mother is young, around 21 years of age. She is single and has had multiple unstable relationships with men. Either she is mentally deficient or an apparently normal young woman, forced to put off high school graduation, college, or career because of pregnancy. She is unemployed and has financial difficulties. She may have suffered from serious mental illness in the past, or only manifested undiagnosed personality changes after the birth of her child. Roughly, one fifth of these mothers have been victims of physical or sexual abuse.

In all the videos I saw at the jail with the Anthonys and Casey I never saw any plexiglass between them. It looked like they were only communicating with a telephone and video. Did Andrea Lyons ever check? Also I thought prisoners and visitors were in different buildings.

  45. Marcy says:

Blink, ma cherie, could you verify that Baez was, indeed, acting as courier between Casey & her family? George, Cindy, & Lee were all asked during depos whether they’d ever received any written communications from Casey via Baez. They all denied it (which means nothing, of course).

I assume the State must have had their suspicions. Just wondering if you know for sure that Jose was playing post office.

    Merci mille fois!

A form of messenger, yes, I believe he read letters to the family members back and forth, in some fashion. He may have even read it and dictated it, but both George and Lee referenced letters he had a few times.

Common sense, has Richard Hornsby offered insight into how this might be solved ‘less the spectacle…’??

Quoting RH’s latest block entry under ‘The Bottom Line’:

‘Which leads us to Judge Strickland’s final remarks:

“Call me if there is a problem.”

Essentially he instructed the parties to go forward with the interview/deposition and to call him (literally) if there are any objections based on privilege that must be ruled on during the interview/deposition.

This procedure saves everyone’s time and money, lessens the spectacle, and allows the case to move forward.

    Yay for Common Sense!’

“Over this past year I’ve had past dreams, words and experiences brought to my remembrance. I will not list or detail them except to say that God was not caught off guard by this. He knew what would happen before she was born. He knew THIS would happen. And, in His infinite love and mercy for us, He gave her to us anyway. God is never surprised by what happens. He knows the end from the beginning (Isaiah 46:10). He knew who, what, when and where. He taught us that for everything there is a season (Ecclesiastes 3) and her season was a short one. She was meant to teach us many lessons and, for whatever reason, her time here was short.”

    thanks for sharing this…thanks Suz!

My favorite part of Hornsby’s blog article…

“But aside from his [Ashton's] legal argument, which he could have rested on – he then went onto give the proverbial bitch slap to the defense and provided a much needed reality check as to how serious the state is about prosecuting Casey Anthony – and how strong they think their case is.

And as someone who has been watching this circus from the outside, I think it is about time.”

I’m not a big Hornsby fan, but this was good.

    Agreed.
