Charlottesville, VA–The disappearance of Morgan Harrington, missing since October 17, 2009 is exhibiting the potential to reach a temperature that is currenlty encompassing the Northeast: VERY COLD.
Through the thousands of posts at blinkoncrime.com and numerous articles covering Morgan, it is clear that frustration in the lack of lead generation and ambiguous statements from the Virginia State Police are causing some to lack conviction Morgan will be found.
In a recent press conference by VSP, LE provided NO NEW information or progress regarding Morgan’s case. In a shift of posture by the Harrington family, Dr. Harrington has begun participating in online chat and sponsored an additional facebook site to help the efforts to find his daughter.
In fact, for the first time in 2.5 months, we know what kind of camera Morgan had with her the evening of the Metallica concert from his research.
In contrast, we have viewed footage and photos of her dear friends that have clearly moved on without the knowledge of their friends plight.
Girls will be girls you say? Before one person comes on here to tell me I am being too critical of these young women you should know that due to a fortunate Facebook update, describing these girls as Morgan’s friends is entirely generous.
Furthermore, if you happen to be one of the parents that has provided booze for underage minors captured on digital for all to see you may wish to take a peek at what is on your daughter’s social sites.
Have you thought about what it would be like to be Gil or Dan while your linin’ it up and throwin’ em back WITH your kids?
Fortunately, this is not the focus today. I do not feel Morgan’s friends did anything to directly cause her fate. They are more “ME” than frienemy, that is evident.
Gil Harrington, posting on the families site findmorgan.com, wrote one of the most eloquent and courageous posts from the Mother of a missing child I have ever read.
The snowfall is beautiful but still disturbing – melancholy. Wonder if Morgan is cold – is snow falling on her face – or is her face covered by leaves in a shallow grave being hidden by the snow. I glance out the window and see the crimson blaze of a cardinal at the bird feeder – my heart leaps for a second at the beauty – then I think its feathers look like blood in the snow. Is that what Morgan’s blood looks like in the snow? See how the pitfalls are everywhere – even at the bird feeder.
In a somewhat angst-ridden moment, a poster on blinkoncrime.com suggested any and all witnesses in this case should be subject to repeated Barry Manilow songs until they confess.
It jogged a memory for me that reminded me that I am proudly my Father’s daughter. Morgan is Dan Harrington’s daughter.
Maybe someone, somewhere, has just not approached that perspective.

Barry holds a special place in the heart of my family. When I was a kid I used to play dress up with my Mom’s clothes. If a pair of her way-too-big-for-me heels was “done”, she would let me cut off the ankle straps and dance around in them as slides.
One afternoon, when I should have been doing my homework, I was blaring Copa Cabana in my Parents study dressed like a thriftshop showgirl and when ” Who could ask for more…at the Copa” part came on, I kicked like a 12 year old Rockette and launched my “slide/RPG” into the ceiling.
There it stayed.
I threw everything I could find at that shoe to dislodge it. Nothing.
Except for the new marks on the scalloped ceiling.
Later, when unbeknownst to me, my Dad was reading his 12 daily newspapers in the study, I thought I might try another idea.
I jumped as hard as I could at the spot upstairs above where the slutslipper was lodged.
It worked on the 3rd try.
How do I know?
I heard a “S o n o f a …..” , then something that sounded like a combination of my first and middle names with a swear word interjected that was rising in tone and volume, and now coming my way.
As I hit the hallway to head to the other direction or squeeze myself unnaturally under something, there He was
My Dad, evidence in hand, smiling wryly form ear to ear.
“Yours I presume, young lady,” his forearm outstretched gently with the nail to my coffin in his palm.
I responded .. “What makes you say that?
Could be ketchup or mustards..”
(Lame editors note: do NOT ask, my sisters and I had bathing suits that matched when we were little that were red, yellow and white, respectively, it stuck to this day, I was Mayo)
He replied .. ” Because I know, this weekend, when you fish out your overalls and help me fix the ceiling before your Mother notices, you would rather do that than whatever she comes up with so we can be all done here. The End. ( Blink dad making the wipe hands clean gesture)
She has been talking about repainting the Family room for months, I would LOVE some help with that…”
“Yes Sir.” I muttered with a matching grimace.
“Can I have it back?” I asked.
“I would say your dancing days are on hold, dear daughter, for the foreseeable future, as are your TV privliges.”
“Anything else? ” I asked.
“Why yes, there is. If you choose to dance through the house with wreckless abandon, next time, do it when your homework is finished and in your tennis shoes. And can you please try to be more like your Mother and less like me?”
“Doubtfull Deets, doubtful.”
With that carefully measured tween rhetort I skipped down the hall, crisis averted and I am still Dad’s fave.
I can live with the painting. Wonder if I can pick the color??
I chose to share this very personal exchange with my Daddy because it dawned on me that maybe someone that reads this does not understand what Morgan’ s Father (and family, but this reference is strictly male) needs from them.
He was her protector. He is her ceiling fixer.
You have to give him back what you took so he can fix it for her and their family.
He does not care who you are or what you may have done.
You can do this for them now. Have faith that anything can be fixed. Anything.

J2K, I have a question for you regarding your theory about the cars and travel timeline. In your comment # 1819, Jan 22, 2010 @12.40am you say :” AM drove to MH’s parents place instead…. AM left her car there, and she and MH drove to JMU in MH’s car. I assume this because AM drove MH’s car back down from JMU to the Harrington’s dropped off MH’s car, and drove home to Blacksburg.”
What time are you assuming AM dropped MH’s car back at her parents? If it was in the middle of the night, don’t you think her parents would have noticed she didn’t come in the house? I seriously doubt they wouldn’t have heard AM doing the car exchange in their driveway, as they were probably anxious about Morgan arriving home safely anyhow.
If it was the next morning, the Harrington’s would have noticed right away and started the ball rolling. Unless you can explain this little “bump” in the road, I can’t buy into that particular scenario.
The reason I feel her parents would be awake/waiting for her, my parents, who I was very close with (Mom’s gone now) told me many years later that in my clubbing/out half the night days, they would keep looking out the window until the wee hours of the morning waiting for me to come home. When I came in the house, they would both act like they were sound asleep, I never knew they did that, and it broke my heart when they told me how much worry I put them through.
Morgan’s mom and dad seem to be that same way, so I don’t think they’d take it lightly when she didn’t show up with AM.

Well, I have nothing constructive to add so here is a random story re: Blink’s recent “don’t make me pull this car over” response.
I actually *did* have my skirt stuffed in my pantyhose when I was around the age of 15 – when the idea of wearing real grown up pantyhose was exciting. In a restaurant bathroom, washing my hands, making sure my Lip Smackers lip gloss was just right, I heard a stifled giggle and a very nice but spunky lady in her fifties say, “Honey, you’re really gonna want to fix that before you get more attention than you can handle.”

I truly think these children told a “fib” that next day to Dr. Harrington about the car situation. I could be wrong but I’m bitter and dare say, a little spectical concerning these “friends”. He is most certainly a better person than I!
If this is truly what happened and Morgan just left voluntarily and they know with whom…then what are we all doing?

This case is very interesting for a number of reasons. I have intimate knowledge of the Harrington family. I used to work in pharmaceuticals and psychiatry in the Radford, VA area.
I do not trust Dan Harrington or his wife at all. There is something extremely fishy with that whole family. Mrs Harrington is the worst type of person imaginable. She is vindictive and bitter. I equate her entire attitude to a Jezebel type of woman — extremely manipulative. Dan has always been shady, and has had several financial dealings that really raise an eyebrow.
That said, I remember Morgan as a little girl; but in a terrible family situation. I wouldn’t be surprised if she just ran away. I really think she is alive. The friends know something, and the family knows a lot more than they are letting on. It is their Modus Operandi.

RU Mom, your ‘because they know (or think) she left voluntarily’ scenario sure makes sense. LE does remind us from time to time that there’s really no sign that a crime was committed. I’d probably be totally on the ‘runaway Morgan’ train if it weren’t for that darn purse.
But that’s why i sometimes wonder how school was going, in case that would be a reason to split (say in case she ran away from home due to embarrassing grades or looming academic probation—believe me, it happens). But it was kind of early in the semester to be flunking anything, and i think her folks may have said everything was fine in that regard.
anjeleyze, well i suppose anything is possible, but you’d think an accidental perp who was panicking would ditch the body somewhere easy (like just rolling her out of the car on the shoulder of a deserted road somewhere) as he or she wouldn’t have planned ahead for such a thing. so i’d figure she would already have been found in that scenario. i mean—casey anthony not withstanding—you don’t want to be driving around for too long with a dead body in your car, just in case you get pulled over.

As for the give-LE-the-benefit-of-the-doubt theories about how they are sitting on info critical to this active investigation, which is why they can’t breathe a word about what happened that day, what happened in the arena, etc., why did they decide to trickle out the “oh, yeah, btw, she’d been drinking” some 74 days after her disappearance? What did that serve, I wonder.
Surely not every stinking little scrap of info they have is important enough to impede their investigation if released, yet it seems like they are keeping everything top secret. I don’t get it. I’m beginning to believe them when they say they don’t have any suspects.
RNMom, my heart literally dropped when I read about your house fire. I am so glad your family got out safely. I get preachy about fire safety after my house fire in 2005 — w/ Blink’s permission — ensure there are fire extinguishers on every floor of your house and especially in the kitchen — they are not expensive — buy an extra one or two and have every member of your family take a turn knowing how to use it — it’s not difficult, but could be tricky in a “panic” situation — also, if you have small children and live in a 2-story house — fire burns “up” and doubles in size every 30 seconds ( we went to fire school at the local fire dept. a year later ) — if you are caught on the 2nd floor — this is is hard to do — throw your children out the window — quickly wrap them in a sheet or blanket and lower them down as far as you can, then drop them — they can fix broken bones — it is almost impossible to fix broken lungs — believe me, I know, my drs. and I still don’t know why I am not dead — then jump yourself —
I went into the room where the fire started — electrical fire — to save our 2 kittens — the room exploded — it’s just like they say on TV — I could not see an inch in front of my face — I’m just relating that story to say — get out — it’s also a good idea to keep one of those collapsable fire ladders in each room in a two-story house —
sorry — off my little soap box — but I have learned to respect fire — my friend was having trouble thinking about what to get her husband for Christmas this year — I dragged her to Costco where she got 2 fire extinguishers for under 20 bucks — one for the shop/garage/man hang out place and one for his truck –

An open message to all readers:
First and foremost, I again offer my most sincere apologies for any of my prior posts that have appeared in any manner to be condescending. As Blink as already offered, I might likewise offer assurance that my intent was not to “talk down to” other posters, be dismissive of their theories, or reject their ideas out-of-hand.
As stated in my last post, my intent is and has always been to ground readers in reality. To my mind this purpose is what is referred to as mission-critical. My efforts have been focused on saving readers valuable time that might otherwise be lost–not to mention, unspeakable angst–in their quest for answers into the MH disappearance. A thorough review of each of my posts, from the very first and on various threads, will reveal consistency in this effort.
Note: I appreciate that the time is not saved in reading my voluminous posts, but instead in honing-in on reality v. tangential conjecture that may unwittingly lead readers far astray of the facts and truth. It is these same facts and the truth they ultimately reveal that we all actively seek. In the instant case, there are intentionally precious few facts available for public consumption. The dearth of facts is the unfortunate reality for readers.
While I claim only to try to help readers maintain focus on these realities and facts–meager as they may be–I claim not to enjoy consistent success. Perhaps therein lies my failure.
Focus is, and has always been, my touchstone. Without it, we are lost in the mist and fog that envelopes many investigations. Without it, we find ourselves moving only in circuitous routes leading us back to where we once began. Without it, we remain mired in hapless rumor, innuendo, and conjecture and we lose precious time. Without it, there is no direction and abject confusion rules the day.
What follows closely on the heels of confusion is frustration…and posters begin to turn on one another; one has only to witness certain of the exchanges here to see that syndrome sadly borne out. [Note: Repeated use of caps in a given post equates to cyber yelling. It has little, true effect on underscoring the author's intent; rather, it ironically diminishes the message and is indicative only of a lack of judicious restraint. Just as in face-to-face, real-time discussions, the value of decorum can never be over-estimated.]
I might hope that the record would show that I have made every concerted attempt to remain outside the bounds of that most slippery slope, as I find sniping unseemly, counter-productive, and an unnecessary distraction from the case-at-hand. At best, it is disheartening. At worst, it leads some to disinclination to contribute further.
I can find no fault with that most unfortunate but understandable sentiment.
And all this unfolds in cyberspace, each day continues to slip by and Morgan remains unfound.
A poster indicated that I am “unwilling to set the record straight and tell us what (you) know”. I implore readers yet again to understand something and hear me clearly: because I do not state something does not mean I am unwilling to do so.
There exists a vast ocean between being “unwilling” to do something, and being “unable” to do that very thing.
I may otherwise be willing to disclose information but am precluded from doing so for reasons that should by this juncture be most obvious to all. I will do nothing–repeat, nothing–that I believe may in any way, shape, or form compromise the successful resolution of this investigation.
To function outside of the above parameters would be counter-intuitive to my own efforts. More importantly, it would be counter-productive for my former LE colleagues. Most importantly, it would be detrimental to this investigation–and I steadfastly refuse to be party to anything even remotely akin to that.
On the above sentiments I am adamant, unwavering, and unrepentant.
I understand most acutely what some (emphasis on “some”) readers here may want–nay, expect–from LE, from UVA, and from me (prior order intentional): More answers. Definitive answers. More, new, and better information. Hard data. Facts. Names. Dates. Times. Detailed eyewitness accounts. Telephone records. Identification of persons interviewed. Results of evidence analyses.
None of the above will be released except by LE–not by UVA, not by me–in the time and manner most appropriate to this investigation.
Perhaps as much as (or, in some cases, more than) anything else, readers seek confirmation that each and every theory put forth has been thoroughly vetted by LE with an assurance that no stone has been left unturned.
Readers seek the comfort found in knowledge. Without that, they feel adrift in this most troubling case. This I understand. But I digress…
I gently re-assure readers that there exists no “game”; the implication is abhorrent and without merit. [My first reaction is to bristle at this assertion, but that will gain no traction for myself or this investigation.] A young woman has been cruelly separated from her loving family. Everyone–myself included–wants nothing more than for her to be found so that everyone’s heart may at last come to peace. At least on that one, last point we might all find ourselves of one accord.
I appreciate and share sue’s, J2K’s, and Dakota’s poignant frustrations. I am especially appreciative of their gracious consideration and clear understanding of the position in which I find myself–not to mention their valiant attempts to explain this far better than I have been able to. I commend them, and other equally agile contributors, on their watchful insight and abilities toward discernment in this regard.
In closing–and inasmuch as it is apparent that I have yet again unwittingly ignited for some a bright, new firestorm of controversy–I will refrain from future comment here and will allow this to be my last post on this forum.
Please know this decision is made neither lightly nor without due consideration. As many readers seemingly seek from me only additional, definitive answers–none of which I am in a position to offer at this moment–it appears I have nothing further to contribute to this forum that may be deemed satisfactory.
My heart remains, as always, with the Harringtons. May their dear, sweet daughter be returned to them soon.

I am aware you have unique challenges being part of this discussion. You are a welcome and gracious contributor here.
If you feel you have a thought or insight that will enhance the discussion in the future, I do hope you will again feel your presence here meritorious. Because it certainly is.
In a nutshell, I dont think people do not understand the concept of releasing or not releasing information to protect the integrity of the investigation. I think in general, there is a disjoint forming and it is unfair for anyone to demand answers from anyone they deem “inside”. In short, if anyone presented inside information that may compromise an investigation, I would never post it in the first place; as you and I have discussed offline.
I will keep my reading glasses next to my thinking goblet.

@1968: But Blink, many posts ago, you said you did not for one second believe the HH story. So do you think (a) *plural* witnesses are lying, or (b) LE is lying? If (a), what collective group would make that lie? The BB players? And if so, what of the UVa student who wrote on 10/19 that she saw Morgan HHing? If (b), why this particular goose chase?

I am on record saying I believe that LE was told that by witnesses, and probably asked the friends, and their story became instead of she was seeking a ride home, to “Yes” she said she would hh.

oh, Blink, thank goodness for your reply on the hh confirmation. Post 1903 that judi snipped from somewhere had me losing my mind.
One of the blondes someone (my apologies, I can’t find the post or remember who posted this, its way, way upthread) referred to on video is actually a curly haired ginger-headed young man, seen standing behind the barrier, arms straight up, left of center [1]. He rocked out in the same area throughout the entire show.
I’ve dubbed him ‘Carrot Top’ and he has been an invaluable point of reference to me in a sea of ever changing multi-hued heads. No matter what color lights are flashing, his wild head of hair is instantly recognizable.
Over the last 3 months, I have watched endless videos (including those posted here) and pored over numerous pictures. Whenever I spotted ‘Carrot Top’ I immediately knew at what angle the shot was taken, who was standing around him, what they were wearing, etc. & was therefore able to rule out a myriad of would be ‘Morgans’.
If you look through these photos [2] you will see him along with many blondes who, at one point or another, appear to be Morgan. Later, you’ll see them in another photo with better lighting and clearly they are not Morgan. (This goes for many of the blondes seen on the floor by the stage.)
The original link to these photos appeared on the HFMDH facebook page during the first week of Morgan’s disappearance. I would post the link, but unfortunately the link will only pull up the current top posts. To my knowledge, these were forwarded to the VSP.
They are worth going through. Everyone I’ve seen pointed out in various videos can be found in this set of photos.

There is one girl in these photos with quite a strong resemblance to Morgan and she, too, appears to have stayed in the same spot throughout the entire show. She looks to be wearing a Metallica shirt, though I can’t say for certain it is.
She is standing on the floor by the stage against the barrier next to an older (than her) gentleman in a long sleeved red shirt. I believe someone (Mom 3.0?) also pointed out this girl on video. He is seen on the bottom left corner of screen @ 0:13 and then there is a brief flash of the blonde girl as she turns her head.

I was just reading through the posts and found something that stuck out to me.
WT and friends met up at Buffalo Wild Wings that night. Rumor has it Morgan’s scent was last picked up behind the Wings place.

This case is very interesting for a number of reasons. I have intimate knowledge of the Harrington family. I used to work in pharmaceuticals and psychiatry in the Radford, VA area.
I do not trust Dan Harrington or his wife at all. There is something extremely fishy with that whole family. Mrs Harrington is the worst type of person imaginable. She is vindictive and bitter. I equate her entire attitude to a Jezebel type of woman — extremely manipulative. Dan has always been shady, and has had several financial dealings that really raise an eyebrow.
That said, I remember Morgan as a little girl; but in a terrible family situation. I wouldn’t be surprised if she just ran away. I really think she is alive. The friends know something, and the family knows a lot more than they are letting on. It is their Modus Operandi.***
This sounds to me like a disgruntled worker maybe?
I have always firmly believed that not everyone in this world is going to like you, no matter what you do or who you are, someone somewhere is not going to like you. I have always told my kids this same thing. Possibly this is someone who just didn’t like them…has a vendetta against them for some reason…..BUT in this case, maybe this should be turned over to LE??? Could be a possible motive………..

On the topic of hitchhiking, is it possible that Morgan was looking for a lift to a very close destination and that’s why she didn’t contact Cville friends to come give her a ride? Maybe she was heading to a restaurant/apartment/house…let’s say less than a mile away…and decided that a quick lift might be easier than walking.
That might justify her hitchhiking (i.e taking a risk) if she were just needing a ride a few blocks down the road.
The thought that she was hitching to a farther destination (Harrisonburg or somewhere outside Cville) is much harder to swallow but I believe that is where LE stands. We were told that LE believes Morgan left the Cville area. In the same vein, “The answer is in Cville” suggests they believe the person who has answers is in Cville.

which spirals my thinking to: there is a benefit rock concert for Morgan being held in “Atlanta” — What’s the Atlanta connection ? That just struck me as extremely odd —
which spirals my thinking right back to LE — and budget cuts and other cases — there are 31 missing people in Va. I was reading last night that each area in Va. is given a specific budget based on past experience — Charlottesville is under the Appomattox region for VSP — which is usually pretty quiet — except now it seems to have exploded, especially w/ the guy shooting out the gas tanks in the VSP helicopter — how much will that cost the Commonwealth to repair?
And then my thoughts spiraled to a post by Localcvillegirl — who said she wanted to know if there was a predator in her area and are her children safe — as much as we want Morgan brought home yesterday — there are other duties which must be performed by LE — for example, my son’s best friend just moved to Roanoke to start college — he’s already bugging me to take the car and drive up there alone — if I relent, boy I want VSP out in numbers patrolling the interstate so that some fool driving 90 mph doesn’t hit my kid– I know, over the top analogy, but, C-vlle has a high crime rate — so does richmond, so I’m not bugging on C-ville, but realistically, how much time and expense can they afford to expend on Morgan in light of other, more pressing matters at hand ?
W/ my son’s declaration that he saw at least 30 blonde girls in Pantera t=shirts, that gives credence to the Orange Sheets sighting, the Zion Crossroads sighting and the newspaper lady’s sighting on the lawn —
Without any fresh leads, it sounds as though LE has chased down all the known ones, is it economically and safetywise feasible to assign someone solely to Morgan’s case at this point?

RUmom, I’m going with your post #1942 this morning. Every one of your points makes sense to me.
I also wanted to apologize if I sounded harsh earlier yesterday morning about Observer…I realize she has a much more formal tone than the rest of us have, and she’s not necessarily chastising us for our sometimes wild theories. I missed a lot of her posts (and others) bc when they’re held they end up way up thread. She and I have been on the same side about a lot of things…especially regarding the integrity of UVa.
RNmom, I live in constant fear of my husband catching our house on fire with the way he cooks. My stomach dropped and I literally felt sick when I read your post. I hope when you get back in there to check it out it won’t be too bad.
Just to help orient you — this photo is either pre- or post- LOG being on stage — the way you can tell — this is exactly as my child described it and it’s just amazing to me to see it in pictures —
Metallica’s drum kit is in the center of the stage, and in this pix (link at bottom) it is covered w/ a tarp — if you look to the far far right on the floor — there are not many people there — I saw on earlier YouTube comments that someone said what a lousy “mosh” pit — I don’t even know what that means — but my son said that area filled up when Metallica hit the stage —
So any pictures you see of the tarp in the center of the stage — it’s either Gojira (who have much shorter hair) or LOG — not Metallica — if it’s LOG, then that picture could potentially show Morgan —

sorry, I should have looked more closely before posting — this is definitely either pre or post LOG — because — look at the photo — across the stage on the far right is the LOG drum kit/stand — that is the side of the stage that allegedly Morgan is on — where you see all the empty seats and people up against the cage/stage — that’s how you can orient yourself as to general areas and who is on stage. Metallica’s drummer is in center stage on the “round” platform — and supposedly Morgan is outside of the arena when Metallica is onstage — and then you can use Clem’s Carrot Top reference point : )

Maggie Voth (UVA) said she “saw” her HH on the bridge and she was alone.
Clem, this video is definitely Metallica — near the end of the concert — that is Kurt Hammond and he is throwing out guitar picks to the audience — so if the girl you are referring to you think is Morgan — this is around 11 PM, so she is long gone —

Clementine and momof3, you guys amaze me with your youtube and flickr skills. Thanks for putting it all together. I think she was there for the opening bands, then took off on her own to meet up with somebody outside the arena. I don’t believe the “answer lies in Charlottesville”…I believe her plan to leave started long before she ever got here. I don’t know where she is now, or what kind of shape she’s in. It’s probably not as hard as we think it is to get lost…just leave all your id and technology behind, stay off the internet. I hope she is alive, and that she’ll find a way to get home soon.

The long blonde haired girl that you refer to near the stage–if I am looking at the right girl, at 0:46-0:47, it appears that the singer is practically handing a guitar pick either directly to this girl or to someone in her group. Anyone else notice this, or am I looking at the wrong girl?
I apologize if we’ve already been over this on the other posts — but the photo of LOG on stage was more interesting other than the possible Morgan sighting — No. 1 — the guys look a little bored — leaning over the railing, talking to each other — but you can clearly see the security company’s logo on their shirts — RMC Events — I’ve got a link to their website at the bottom — they advertise that UVA is one of their clients, and they have an office in C-vlle — could that be the predator that was back in C-ville in Nov ?
