Caylee/Casey Anthony Case: Plea Sans Adjudication In Court Today
Orlando, FL– By this afternoon, we could see Casey Marie Anthony convicted of up to 13 felony counts in the fraud trial scheduled for today at 1:30PM EST. Live Link
Over the last week, the legal wranglings, sentencing hypotheticals and LexisNexis databases where burning up the skype accounts of all the legal analysts in Or Lawn Do. I experienced it first-hand as I was in town last week:It was palpable.
According to sources speaking on the condition of anonymity to blinkoncrime.com, the plea negotiations between the State and Jose Baez, defense counsel for Casey Anthony in this matter, broke down over the amount of felonies she would agree to plead to, and the matter of adjudication. WFTV analyst Bill Schaeffer does a nice job discussing the importance from a legal perspective, here.
The afternoon face off between Linda Drane Burdick, Jeff Ashton and the defense team for Casey Anthony is expected to seek Judge Stan Strickland’s ruling on her sentencing and the issue of withholding adjudication which is the anticipated position of her defense.
Simply stated, there is no basis given the known facts of the case to argue that Casey’s actions constituted a necessity, agreement from the wronged party or victim, or any as yet unknown to us allegations such as needing cash for the nanny or kidnapping ransom.
While the defense does have a strong argument to be made that Ms. Anthony is a first time offender and Judge Strickland has already indicated that he will treat her accordingly, I have a suggestion for the State.
I submit aquiring tacky white sunglasses through fraudulent, felonies means, using said stolen property to perpetuate further fraudulent activity, followed by wearing them to your attorney’s office after you have been arrested for same, constitutes a spree. Adjudicate at will.

But have we any inkling of what George told the Grand Jury? I’ve always thought it was probably nothing, just more ducking and weaving. He was absorbed back into the Cindy fold so soon.

This could be one explaination as to where Caylee was and who she was with when Casey was out partying with her friends day and night.
Also could explain her bruises, cuts, and the dark circles under her eyes. Poor little Caylee.
And is it true often the abused carry on this behavior and abuse the next generation?
One more question – the thousand pictures not released – where did they come from?

Or it could be a ruse? Or it could be an entirely different person with the same name as that woman? Has it ever been substantiated that this was the same person who penned that report?
It seems to me that it would be risky business to let a student speak to Casey for so long. You never know what might come out. If she wasn’t considered an employee or subcontractor paid by the defense, then their would be no privilege. It doesn’t sound as though that woman has very strong credentials, but who knows?

As to the thousand pictures, George said (paraphrase). “That’s not my daughter” ( “or the one that I know”). If they were horrible pictures of Caylee,I would have imagined/expected a different statement.

This report clearly shows that Casey has visits that sometimes go all night long. I find that very strange.
I am missing the wee hours visits. Latest one I see is 11ish PM. That is not ridiculous per se.

You’re right, he would have reacted different if it was anything to do with Caylee.
Anyway,
we don’t know if the Allison L Cochran is the same as the Allison LaDonna Cochran.
The ALCochran who has the unpublished paper is posted is on the same Selected Works web site with Andrea Lyon. Andrea has her writings on there listed through DePaul University. Maybe it is just a site to post writings and they do not know each other at all.
It just seems awfully strange that Casey has these long visits so late at night. What is up with that?
I know Casey’s appearance Monday has been throughly discussed, but one thing I noticed when I finally got a chance to watch it last nite, that I don’t think I’ve seen discussed is how after the sentancing.. and her crapoplogy (sorry Blink, but tis true).. when Mr George (the SA) is talking about her paying for the investigation, and objecting to her probation being served in jail…. Casey is literally shooting “darts” from her eyes, her jaw is locked and she is grinding her teeth. Then you finally her something that sounds like someone saying “that’s ridiculous” in reference to the amount of the investigative costs, compared the the $650.00 or so crime… the camera pans quickly back to the Defense and Baez has clamped a hand over the “open” mic, and they are both trying frantically to calm the Little Princess back down.
It is another very, very telling sign that no matter how much coaching, they cannot control Casey’s rage issues, or her mouth, or her body cues, as to her real emotions.
They can never put this volatile person on the stand, she would never last thru the cross examination. Casey lives in her own fantasy world, where she truelly believes that she is Queen, and I now have no doubt that it is her driving this trainwreck, and that she thinks she can just bullsh@t her way thru this also.
Well, that gives me a little lift to think anyway…. cause if she insists on a trail and testifying, she will put the needle in her arm herself.
I also loved that Cindy said “I love you” to George and he just grimaced and turned away. Especially when she looked at him 2 more times, for a response. Maybe Georgie boy is a little more “off” the reservation than we know. Again, it’s good to hope so.

As above statements, my opinion, that’s why I think NONE of Casey’s emotions are real because she is incapable of it. When she was smiling at parents, I think under the circumstances that it was just atomatic because that’s how she dealt with problems at home to excuse herself. Since she is a pyschopath/sociopath she has to mimic appropriate emotions from a baseline of experience. When she came out and said “I’m excited” that was inappropriate because she had not been coached and didnt have experience of how to act when you are caught AND PUNISHED IN PUBLIC. The defense team has to micromanage her every step and they cant control every second of her behavior. They look and act around her like they are trying to corral a bull.
I am sure the ‘two yukes” of the duhfense team said ‘I thought you were watching her—–i thought YOU were!!!!!!!!
Blink, I do need your input! I’m not clear on how Casey might be “learning the ropes of such a vicious crime”.
It seems such a dangerous area to be even remotely associated with for the purpose of learning anything unless the client actually may have ties that could be brought out in court.
Do you think that there may be pictures that could be assumed were child pornography or that pictures of Casey that she will try to minimize as being just tame erotica? TIA

Roy deserves his moment of glory – ! He did what all of us only think we would do. He didn’t have to call, he didn’t have to follow up, he cared enough to do that…. I am Roy’s Bro n Law from his last relationship. Roy was with my sister for 15 years until she passed away of Breast Cancer in July 2007. Roy Loved her very much as it showed while he stood by her till the last minute. Roy has been through a major loss of Love and know how hard it is. He is a very intelligent person and does care for others in his own way. He and I worked together in Tenn as Bondsman/Bountyhunter and I totally respect Roy . I know that he is a hero in this case because many would have simply went on and not followed up as he did. Thank God he did before the body was totally destroyed by the environment.

I think i equally strange that people just show up to indict a person for some wrong doing, or leave the implication of such, for trying to do the right thing. Why did he do as he did when reporting the sighting? Why would he assume “a word to the wise would be sufficient” calling them and telling them the location all the while trying to do so anomously? Makes ya wonder why anyone would get involved even after the plea for help from officials doesn’t it. I believe when the officials received the tips for this area they just had the preconceived notion that equasearch had been over the area and nothing could at that point have been overlookeed so they just went through the motions of following up. There we can see how preconceived notions can be.

No Roy is not associated with Padilla. Roy worked in this Profession about 8 years ago when He ,my sister and I ,owned a Bonding Company in Tri Cities Tn. Roy was always Professional and dependable. He is just like the other thousands there in Orlando that was concerned and wanted to be helpful. The only difference is he had the correct tip and tried to do it and remain anonomous so as not to have to go through this grief but the Sheriffs department would not take the tip and check it out. They just assumed all had been searched so why bother. He felt that even the reward at that time wasn’t worth all of this trouble.

Roy doesn’t live in that neighborhood. The voice you heard on the recording to the dispatcher was the dispatcher referring to Hopespring, the street I live on. Stop trying to make something bad out of something good. Mike – you obviously know Roy as well as I do and we know why he chose to get involved and follow his gut. He has always had a keen eye and interest in investigative work and it goes to show he is definately good at it. It sad to think this “overpaid Bounty Hunter – Television actor, Padilla” is out there sucking people dry with hopes and dreams and only wants his few minutes of glory – enough to rope in the next victim. He should take a few lessons from You and Roy. I was sad to learn about Sandys’ passing — I know Roy loved her very much. I myself lost my little Brother this Feb. Let’s keep fighting for Roy. Just thinking out loud (in text) here. Is it possible that the future source of the defense funds is a book/story based on the interviews that Barrett, and maybe others, are planning on writing? The timing of the interviews, particularly the long ones, are interesting. They correlate closely with a major court date and then right after the hearing. Could she/they be documenting what KC is feeling and saying as she faces each new hearing and after the hearing? And are they purposefully keeping her up all night so she looks gaunt in the hearings?
So…if in the end George is gonna be the fall guy, I have to give the defense a lil golf clap. All the red herrings and distraction, the clever way mom and dad profess love and support but don’t visit. I’m fairly sure by defense orders. Have mom and dad been played?
I hope it backfires and both of them get wind of it and let loose. For that matter, Lee might better watch his back.
That is why our justice system is so messed up- I know it is better than most, but how can you accuse someone of a crime of that nature without cause. I think George Anthony is a liar,but he absolutely loved Caylee and I just can not see him doing anything of that nature. This poor baby can’t even get respect from her mother dead or alive…..so sad. Maybe it will infuriate George and he’ll finally start telling the truth.
I also think accusations without merrit such as this one are the reason so many children are left unprotected – there has got to be a way to stop false accusations for child abuse- maybe a harsher punishments for those who use it as a weapon.
ChicagoJudy, maybe the long night visit from Barrett was related to a medical or psych need. If Casey took the need to lose weight and get to her tiny self on jail bologna and white bread, she might have decided to do it quickly. Maybe she has a new focus in jail.
Late night visits might also lessen the chance of anyone mentioning to the press interesting visitors. It circumvents speculation until after the visitor logs are released???
It would certainly be the way of several high profile cases, Menendez brothers, Susan Smith. It didn’t get them absolved of the crime but it really is the way to go if they’re hoping to get a juror who feels sympathy. It also reinforces the idea that kc has been damaged,in need of all the hugs etc. It explains the very unusual time spent at Baez’ office (couldn’t bear to be at home). The whole idea is very devious and is the slash and burn method of a hard core defense.

Seems that Crystal could be accused of wanting her share of Kronk’s publicity by inserting herself into the story then, and taking advantage of the investigator’s twist, as she berated Kronk with her present husband just out of camera view. How much of that was showing off in his presence? We know he was there because she turned and asked him something during the Mort questioning on video.

Virtual child pornography is when images are manipulated to make child porn. This can be done by using photoshop to combine images, possibly innocent pictures of children + pornographic images of adults, to make it appear as if child-adult sex is occuring.
There are other programs that make 3D human figures, and by taking small and large instances of these figures, they can also be combined into sexual poses.
There is a lot of fuss around this — no children were harmed or abused in making the images, the images serve to fulfil fantasies or artistic desires. So is it child pornography, or free speech?

If adults are fantasizing about sex with children there is real sickness there. Watching anything that will enhance arousal may only serve to feed the desire. It is, in essence, child pornography, even if real humans weren’t used . We can’t know if these videos don’t cause harm to children.
I suppose studies might need to be conducted. If these virtual films were shown to quell the predatory nature of pedophiles, it might be helpful. However, people who have pornography and or sex addiction issues tend to escalate and need increasing amounts of stimulus that may become more depraved over time. So my fear is that these disturbed individuals may tire of the virtual world and proceed into actual pornography, or worse, express these desires by preying on children in real life.
I certainly don’t see this as a “free speech issue”. Being an “active” pedophile is against the law. Sorry- but you’re reaching to call children in sexual situations with adults as an “artistic” endeavor doesn’t cut it.
