Morgan Harrington Murder: Harringtons Debut Morgan Rocks

Posted by BOC Staff | Alex Harrington,Anchorage Farm,Dan Harrington,Gil Harrington,Morgan Harrington,Murdered | Wednesday 17 March 2010 12:28 pm

Charlottesville, VA- Continuing the crusade to memorialize their daughter Morgan and keep the public focused on the dangerous killer(s) still at large,  Dan and Gil Harrington will be meeting with media today at 1PM.

The meeting agenda will include the Harrington’s ongoing concerns for womens safety on and off campus, and their fears associated with the fact that there has not been an arrest in their daughters murder to date.

BOCMorganBridgePainting

The Harringtons are also expected to announce MORGAN ROCKS.

In response to a hand-painted river rock, lovingly and generously created and delivered to the Copely bridge by blinkoncrime.com contributor Skyler, containing the phrase “Rock On”; The Harringtons have decided to widen the trend.

MORGAN ROCKS

We are starting a “gathering of rocks” at Morgan’s memorial on

Morgan’s Bridge at Copeley Road on the North Grounds of the University of Virginia. When you come to Charlottesville and to the bridge bring a rock and a prayer to add to the collection. Leave both at the bridge!

Morgan, Gil, Alex and I continue to need your support and prayers as we wait for Morgan’s murder(s) to be brought to justice. Your support in raising society’s awareness of the need to change the culture of acceptance of violence against women and in so doing change the laws that allow these crimes to go unpunished.

Skyler’s slate rock was the first. A beautiful painted slate rock with an image of Anchorage Farm, Tibetan prayer flags and an angel rising to the heavens. Morgan, Rock ON!!!

Going back to the ABC news article it stated:

“Surveillance cameras at the concert caught Harrington getting turned away from several entrances as she tried to return to the conert.”

    http://abcnews.go.com/US/morgan-harrington-family-prays-justice-slain-virginia-tech-student/story?id=9701648&page=2

So was it confirmed that this was a confirmation of their being surveillance footage of MH at the concert, or was this just shoddy reporting?

  2. George says:

JPJ Arena is owned by the University of Virginia and is located on the grounds of the University. Most of the attendees at any given event are probably UVa students and students from other state colleges, like Morgan and her friends. Is not the UVa Campus Police department charged with policing the campus, or did I miss the memo? Why should the JPJ Arena be any different than the Rotunda? I’m sure the local campus officers would appreciate the overtime and using sworn police officers would add a layer of professionalism that is sorely lacking now. We have had a beautiful young girl murdered and all the tough guy JPJ security guys in the black T-shirts, on whose watch it happened, have NOTHING to say? And their boss has NOTHING to say? And the JPJ Arena management has NOTHING to say?

Redrock, I guess that article could be saying that the friends got separated from Morgan before METALLICA came on (you know…THE concert). So it could be consistent with what we know.

I can see myself saying that my friend missed the concert if she was with me for the opening act(s) and then disappeared before the main event.

    Interesting redrock.

Where did you get this comment/quote? If this is true, what does that mean Blink? Does it mean there was video? Does this mean she was or was not seen on it?

Mom 3.0, I’m totally with you on the censorship thing. Thank you, too, for your take on the Gojira and LOG lyrics; I hate to admit I haven’t spent a moment looking at those bands, but it’s nice to hear that they’re not nearly as dark as I’d come to believe.

Sudafed, I know alot of folks still believe granny’s sighting even though it’s said to have been discredited, which is why I disregard it—but again, who knows what’s true in this case or if it’s even accurate to say that it was discredited.

And I reckon Morgan’s and the friends’ phones would reveal whether they were talking to any drug dealers. I’d expect that if the cops had phone numbers to go on, we’d have an arrest or two already.

    Re; the friends

    Article; Do teenagers think rationally?

    Link; http://www.cnn.com/HEALTH/blogs/paging.dr.gupta/2007/11/do-teenagers-think-rationally.html

With respect to the paragraph below, taken from the article, I believe the popular theory is that the brain is actually not fully developed until age 25.

“The part of the brain that helps us make logical and rational decisions is just developing in a teen and usually it’s not fully functional until the early to mid-20s. Since that part of the brain is still not mature, it can’t handle stress and decision-making as well as a full-grown adult brain. It overloads. That can lead to judgments that an adult brain might not make”.

  8. justiceformorgan says:

    In case you don’t want to read the entire article, here’s a good exerpt from it;

“Psychologists will tell me however, that actions like this are age appropriate, and that I shouldn’t take it so hard. Teenagers and kids of college age often don’t think before they do. You can have a straight “A” student one minute, who’s loving and kind and thoughtful and in the next instant, a child who seems not to care at all about others’ feelings”.

  9. suz says:

George, I would guess that the arena’s lawyers have told them to not to say anything, cuz it sure seems like they could be sued for some kind of negligence (and in the end, I imagine their insurance company would settle, if sued, to avoid the bad PR—-even though they were just enforcing their posted non-re-admittance policy, and it’s likely that the most horrible things that happened to Morgan happened off of the grounds, far from the arena). AND most importantly to remember, it’s really the perp who bears full responsibility for what happened. Not the arena. Not the friends. Not Morgan for hh, if she did. Just the perp.

  10. suz says:

justiceformorgan, I do believe that thing about people not fully maturing until age 25. The Romans would have said age 28 (you were a juvenatus until then). Astrology places the first opportunity for adulthood at the time of your Saturn return (the 28 or 29 years it takes Saturn to return to the same place in the sky as it was when you were born), and many people have a life changing event around that age.

Kinda’ puts Casey Anthony in a new light—-though she does seem more deeply troubled than the average young adult.

According to LE Morgan was abducted off both JPJA property in specific, and UVA property in general.

I am not aware of a single statement that suggests Morgan was abducted, credited to the VSP.

Specifically, they CAN be credited with stating they have independent witnesses corroorating Morgan HH on the Copely Bridge, which would put her OFF JPJ grounds.

  15. total amateur says:

Just to make my own opinion clear- if any of you are talking to me- I DO NOT believe in “censorship”. What I do think is that what is available or broadcast to the mainstream public should be more closely guarded. Especially the internet. If you are over 18 years old- what you do in your own home, what concert you attend, what film you go watch, what you look up on the internet is up to you. But NO parent is over their kids shoulder every second they are on the computer, watching TV, or listening to the radio. You can’t be with them every second of every day to explain everything they hear and see, and how it’s right or wrong. Let me add that IMHO, GOOD PARENTING is our number one defense. I also believe that social networking sites- who make millions upon millions of dollars- should be more accountable, or at least more RESPONSIBLE for the content that is put in the public eye. There are profiles ALL OVER Myspace with pictures of naked or half naked women, animations depicting sexual acts, and other lewd or violent behavior. There are KIDS ON THERE! It is NOT properly monitored. There is way too much anonymity- there should be stricter rules for age and identity verification. Ever watched “Predator Raw” with NBC’s Chris Hansen? Scary. These neworking sites and chat rooms are HAVENS for pedophiles and predators.

Blink moderates her site. Is that censorship? NO. It’s RESPONSIBLE. Morally and Legally.

Well, before this post gets any longer I’ll shut up. These are all hot-button topics, and I respect everyone’s opinions very much- after all… it is the beauty of a FREE COUNTRY. I guess my main issues are really with the instant availablity of some subject matter on the internet, and the anonymity people can operate under. Honestly, I just want our youth, our future, protected. So again- total amateur is NOT for censorship- he is for RESPONSIBILTY and ACCOUNTABILITY.
(did i just talk in the third person? Corny. I HATE when people do that!)

First, I want to say as a parent how challenging it is to raise a child in a world we are not familiar with. Technology has exploded in the past decade and changed our world dramtically. Now we have to know who our kids are ‘chatting’ with online. Gone are the days of knowing your friends parents. Life should be an adventure for our children. We should be showing them around. Let them feel the earth run between their fingers, feel the tide roll over their feet as they look up to the sky, symbolic of what the human spirit is capable of.

Morgan had the uncommon sense (I mean that as a genuine compliment!)to show her mother the outfit she planned on wearing to the Metallica concert. THANK GOD Morgan had THAT kind of relationship with her parents. ‘Mom, remember, it’s a concert’. Indeed. That being said, I’ve looked at the ‘composition outfit’ Morgan may have worn that night. I do not have a daughter. I’ve seen some scantilly clad girls too young to understand the consequences of their choices. Morgan possessed enough self respect and confidence to understand her mother’s approval was invaluable! I for one see nothing outrageous or questionable about her outfit that night. I believe Morgan had great style and dressed like a 20 year old woman…..one who knows how to pull it off and make it work. She looked fantastic, beautiful! I stand behind my opinion 1000%. I would be proud to have had a daugther like Morgan. The only thing she may have done wrong was unintentionally provoke a jealous or hateful mind. Unintentionally.

I have always believed, like Blink, that a naked woman, or man for that matter, on a public street is NOT asked to be exploited or taken advantage of….over powered to be used and abused. Unfortunately, we cannot control how a pervert would perceive it. PERVS!!!! Sick minded hollow souls who seek to quench their disgusting, putrid obessions. How it should be isn’t the issue. How to NOT become the bait is the issue. I apolly if I’m not making sense. I am defending Morgan and her outfit that night. I am defending freedom of expression. I am defending ‘flaunt it if you got it’. I am not defending wreckless choices or behaviour if you cannot handle the consequences. It could cost you your life. Don’t make it easy for these freaks who prey on that kind of mentality (please note: I am NOT referencing child abuse or domestic violence. If you’re not sure what I am saying, please ask before dissecting my thoughts).

Morgan, you do rock, classically. It wasn’t the clothes. You looked like a rock star!!!!! 2*4*1, you were at the wrong place at the wrong time. The intentions of your heart procede you, most lovely.

Greene County Man Killed In Shootout With Police
    Posted: Jan 01, 2010 12:28 PM PST
    Updated: Jan 15, 2010 12:06 AM PST
A Stanardsville teenager is dead after a chase with police ended in gunfire on Route 20 in Albemarle County. There are new details about how this tragic situation unfolded.

18-year-old Colby Eppard led police on a twisted chase through three counties by car and foot Friday afternoon, all the while taunting police by using their own car radio.

“That is if y’all try to kill me because that’s the only way I’m giving this f****** car back.”

“You underestimated a true hunter. I stalk my f****** prey, I stalk them. Sit there, I watched your little fat a**** run up through the woods and look around and you didn’t even notice that I was gone with your car. That’s how a real hunter does it.”

Albemarle, Greene, and Virginia State Police officers were in pursuit of Eppard. Police say it started when they tried to stop Eppard for unauthorized use of a vehicle.

Eppard managed to escape on foot, circle back around and steal a running Greene County sheriff’s deputy’s car. Spike strips were used to stop the car on Route 20 in Albemarle, and then things turned deadly.

Virginia State Police spokeswoman Corinne Geller says police fired back in self-defense. “When the suspect crashed the vehicle he got out and started firing at police that had stopped behind him in the course of the pursuit and, obviously firing at police, they returned fire.”

Police aren’t confirming who fired the deadly shots but all of the officers involved are now on administrative leave.

Geller said, “They’re put on administrative leave and that’s for their welfare as well, they’ve been through a traumatic situation as well, they need the time off, and we have an ongoing investigation.”

State and Albemarle County police know this deadly shooting could have claimed more lives. Their focus now is on why one teenager opened fire in the first place.

The portion of Route 20 near Red Hill Road where the shoot-out happened is still closed as of Friday night, and traffic is being redirected towards the Walton Middle School.

State and Albemarle County police say their investigation could take days.

That is correct! Between 11 – 19, the frontal lobe of the brain does go through another growth spirt. This part of the brain affects the logic and rational portion. Teens tend to feel misjudged, isunderstood or controlled as apposed to feeling loved, heard and guided. Studies on this development are relatively new and shed light on the so called rebellious teen years.

This link is an excellent read and every parent should be familiar with the process:

    re; Eppard investigation still open

    From The Hook;

“The number of shots fired by the suspect and other parties involved in this incident will not be released publicly as the criminal investigation is still open,” writes Virginia State Police spokeswoman Corinne Geller in an email.

Still open? The suspect is dead, and the officers have been cleared of criminal charges. Yet the Virginia State Police, Albemarle County Police, and Greene County Sheriff’s Office, the three agencies involved, have declined to release the dashcam videos, as internal investigations are ongoing”.

  22. justiceformorgan says:

    Also, from that article (is Officer Snead the LE person connected to Sara Snead?);

“What’s not explained is why Haas’ officer from Greene County was engaged in Albemarle. Virginia law limits cross-jurisdictional activity to hot pursuits, but in this case, according to the Lunsford report, Greene ***officer Snead*** was searching for the stolen vehicle in North Garden and got involved after he was “advised by phone that Eppard had turned onto Route 6.”

Hook legal expert David Heilberg cites Virginia’s 300-yard to one-mile grace period when officers in pursuit cross a boundary out of their jurisdiction. ***Snead*** was more than 20 miles beyond the Greene border when he joined the chase.

You got that right. I am going to want an explanation whether this has to do with Morgan or not.
    B

“Hot pursuit knows no limit if it’s a dangerous situation,” says Heilberg. But to join in a chase an hour later is a different matter. “I’m not sure why that officer was there,” he says”.

Last cut and paste from this article B, I promise :)

    Apparently Colby Eppard was a hunter with impule control issues as stated in the following;

    “Bike accident

Photos of Colby Eppard show a baseball-capped youth with a mustache and soul patch. He loved hunting, and in October killed a bear with a bow and arrow, says his mother. In November, he bagged a trophy deer. “Hunting was his life,” says his stepfather.

But his life took an unfortunate turn when he was seven years old. Riding his bicycle near home in Stanardsville, he was hit by a truck that threw him 30 feet, says his mother. The front and back of his brain were bruised, a diagnosis that wasn’t made until he was 13 at Kluge Children’s Rehabilitation Center, she says.

Colby had no impulse control, says his mother. ‘He doesn’t think before he talks,” says Tracy Foster. “He’s not like a normal person. He acts before he thinks.”

  25. zeusrocks says:

Thank you so much Mom 3.0 for your eloquent comments regarding censorship. I agree with you 1000 percent! I haven’t posted much, especially lately-just lurking and thinking, but I had to weigh in on what you stated. You are so right-Morgan would be so very sad if she thought her death led to people not being able to hear all the amazing music available in the world. That is not the way to honor Morgan, not at all. I have followed Morgan’s case from the very start, and each time this issue raises it’s ugly head, I get more upset.

Censoring music is the start to censoring everything. First it is certain types of music, then the long hair or shaved head that goes with it, any hair style that is deemed “different”, piercings, tattoos, baggy pants, super tight pants, flannel shirts, bleached hair, black hair, headbands, loud guitars, distortion, drums, loud sounds in general, under age concerts, bars, too many people listening to the same type of music, then it can move into: books, movies, speech, thoughts, cultures, religions, ideas, inventions, medicine, science, space and time! Then we will be, effectively, hundreds of years in the past-and that is something we really do not want.

I personally won’t listen to songs about violence, rape, murder, torture, etc., but I do not have the right to tell other people that they cannot listen to those songs. I know many, many people who listen to that type of music, and/or play it. I have two sons in a rock band, who listen to ALL types of music, as do I. I have seen hundreds of concerts and hung around with all types of musicians, and all of the people I know who are involved in the music that others want to censor, are truly nice people who wouldn’t hurt a fly. That does not mean they all are safe, nor does it mean all classic rock musicians are good guys and all horrorcore musicians are evil monsters. Similar thought process to: not all youth ministers or priests will molest little kids, but some do. There are good and bad people-period.

As a family we have been involved in our son’s music endeavors for about 15 years. Through all genres of music ( rock, grunge, rap, blues, classical, experimental, progressive, metal, hip hop, surfabilly, etc.), we have heard some amazing stuff, and come to know and love many types of music we may never have been exposed to. Through the many bands they played in, and many shows we helped carry equipment into, or just showed up to listen to, and many different musicians, and their cultures, and belief systems, we have immersed ourselves into an awe inspiring music scene and that has been of major benefit to us. It has opened my eyes to a universe of sounds and people, and I love every second of it. My youngest is a cellist in college studying music and a guitar player and singer. My oldest is a responsible adult with a full time job and is a guitarist, bass guitarist and singer. One short hair, clean shaven and a neat dresser; the other with super long hair and a beard, messier dresser. They are both responsible members of society. They just attended a death metal concert, and the next day it was classical music and old 1970′s bands! THIS is why I get angry about censorship. When my boys were younger I remember family members or acquaintances saying that I shouldn’t allow them to listen to certain music, or dye their hair, or wear weird clothes, etc. I dyed their hair those many colors myself! My kids are really good people, they love animals immensely, have pets of their own, wonderful friends and girlfriends, work hard, get amazing grades, hold down a really good job (better than mine!), and support causes and charities. I defend their right to head bang or mellowly groove-their choice! What a person looks like or listens to has NOTHING to do with what they are on the inside! Oh, and by the way-one of the only people who ever actually creeped me out or gave off a bad vibe, at a show I was at, after meeting thousands of musicians; was a guy from a country band! So does that mean we should ban country music? Of course not.

Because-IT IS NOT THE MUSIC! It’s the mental state of those people who are listening to it, or reading books, or going to movies, or attending church (I have heard of way too many killers who used the bible as their excuse for why they killed!) So do you want the bible banned too? See, this is a way too slippery slope, and once you are on it, there is just no stopping. You will eventually hit the bottom, but at what cost?

We have to make sure that the kids who are showing signs of serious mental imbalances are identified and are then provided with intense treatment. Sadly, some of them, if treatment fails and they harm someone, will need to be institutionalized, for the safety of themselves and others. Everyone and everything is NOT fixable. Do you really want a boy or girl who has set fires, tortured and killed animals, molested younger children, etc., playing with your kids at school or anywhere without being identified and treated? If we can’t do the work to get those kids help at an early age, then we have to make stricter laws governing their crimes when they commit them. Adults who do not get better with treatment and hurt or kill others have to be put in prison. They cannot be walking the streets, waiting and watching for their next victim. But censoring people will not fix them-they will snap whether they listen to death metal or Beethoven, or whether they read Chuck Palahniuk or the bible-that is a guarantee.

  26. jessejane says:

So, I think we have covered this idea, but what if Morgan totally thought she had her keys? Dan C drove the car, maybe even dropped the girls off at the door, parked… pocketed the keys inadvertently. Then she winds up outside, thinks she has her keys… just has to focus on getting to the car. “No prob,” she tells the friends, and everyone assumes she will drive to wherever. But she doesn’t have her keys. She may have even realized this part of the way there…

I’m not being very coherent but I can totally play that scene in my head. I’m locked out of the big show. I have my purse — no sweat. I call my friends, they don’t offer to bring me my keys because they think I have them. I say, y’all catch a ride w/ Gardner or Dee and buddies… I’ll drive to wherever. (Maybe Dan C was sitting elsewhere and didn’t know this was transpiring, even.) Anyway I think, well the keys are in my bag somewhere, I’m still adrenaline-pumped and incredibly bummed from getting locked out and not being able to beg back in to any door…

She takes off to go to the car. Plan B. Maybe at some point paws through the bag, cannot find the stinkin’ keys anywhere. Maybe this is the fumbles with the purse. Or she throws it in frustration. Who knows. Dang, Dan dropped us off, he has the keys, argh. Maybe doesn’t know Dan’s # (he’s bf of a friend, might not be in her phone). Texts someone — could be a buddy of Dan’s? Mutual friend? Dunno. At some point, either before or after realizing she doesn’t have her keys, goes around the bridge — wants to catch a ride.

In its broadest sense, doesn’t HH mean seeking a ride? What if the car were in The Park and she had to catch a shuttle bus to that lot to get to it? Wouldn’t waiting for a bus sorta-kinda-mebbe be a little like HH? Stretching here.

Anyway… I’m thinking this explains why the friends didn’t pass her her keys. They thought she had them. I could even see DC forgetting, although it sounds like he might not have been with them? So maybe he didn’t know? She was supposed to be in the arena, not outside, so there was no issue w/ his having them. Anyway it could explain the purse fumbling/drop. It could explain her definite agenda — not really hanging around but bee-lining away from the JPJ proper when she couldn’t get back in. And it sounds like we weren’t supposed to know that her car was in Cville for whatever reason — so we don’t know about the whole key thing. And it also explains why “there were no plans to meet up after the concert” – she was to have gone off in her car and they were to catch a ride w/ whatever friends… if they were to go w/ Dave et al, could explain how they happened to have arrived back at his car at the same time which otherwise seems a great coincidence. The last plans would have not been to meet up. And they would have been surprised to see her car still there? Probably would really throw them into a tailspin… Oh man, this is not good. She’s not here but her car still is. What do we do? How do we get the car back to Roanoke eventually? Maybe she…

So, hours before, she’s around the bridge/Lannigan and BG comes along, hey want a ride? Perhaps she wants a ride to her car (if she still thinks she has keys) since it’s freezing, or wants a ride to some other location… maybe to meet up later w/ the friends post-concert since plans have changed since they have her keys and not her? I’m pretty sure she would have to at least be familiar enough w/ BG to accept a ride… not a total stranger.

Just want everyone to know the paragraph below, included in my previous post, wasn’t written by myself ~ it was a quote from The Hook.

“Still open? The suspect is dead, and the officers have been cleared of criminal charges. Yet the Virginia State Police, Albemarle County Police, and Greene County Sheriff’s Office, the three agencies involved, have declined to release the dashcam videos, as internal investigations are ongoing”.

  30. total amateur says:

Ugh, I hate to post this… because it’s probably more shoddy reporting from early on in the case but… I stumbled on this report last night from NBC12. At about 1:30 into the segment, the reporter states that Morgan “was seen getting into a car” on Copeley Bridge.

acho and observer—please include me in your exchange of book titles, I am interested in expanding my reading!

The book I’m reading now has me thinking a lot about the emotional mindset of Morgan’s killer. Though the identity of Morgan’s killer is still unknown I feel there might be parallels to the character in “We Need to Talk About Kevin”—has anyone read this book by Lionel Shriver?

Mosaic, I’ve not read this book but I am going to look for it, it sounds really interesting. The description of Kevin sounds again so much like Reactive Attachment Disorder. http://www.attachment.org/pages_what_is_rad.php

That is a somewhat different account of how the evening developed. Cannot vouch for the accuracy.

Whoa, where did this article come from? I have not seen this before!

“Amy Melvin traveled to Charlottesville to see the Metallica concert with Harrington, along with two others. Melvin said the group was separated from Harrington before the concert and did not see her during the concert.

She said Harrington did not take the automobile they had brought to Charlottesville.”

Apparently Colby Eppard was a hunter with impule control issues as stated in the following

That’s interesting, it fits with what his former teacher had said about him being a little like Gomer Pyle and a little like Cool Hand Luke…
Poor guy. I had a close friend who worked in the rehab ward at the hospital and she always used to tell me these stories about the head injury patients, they would sometimes suddenly get violent, unexpectedly – the nurses had to always be on their toes.

I am so in awe of you all. You, brothers, sisters in the fight, but J2K….it might be an Aquarian thing, but I have never know a person so self-aware who contributes so much to the analysis. Your words are special gifts.

All of you rock the Blink!

FYI on Colby E. – has anybody looked at the 64 shots the police took at the car? This young man was shot 23-24 times. Please take the time to read about this event. The Hook has a very good investigative article. I am just trying to be fair.

  36. Connie says:

Dear Blink- God Bless you and your staff. In my opinion you are an Angel!! The good people on BOC are also fighting the good fight instead of letting things fall by the wayside. The Christine Sheddy case-what would have happened without your diligence ? Her poor family- especially her mom-thank goodness for you. Also, every night since Morgan dissappeared I have and continue to pray for her and her family. I have cried so many times after reading Gil’s heartbreaking posts, and I have so much respect for Mr. and Mrs. H and Alex. Although I do not join on the blogs regularly, I do wake every morning to see what has been posted and hope there is some sort of break, etc. The reason I asked about the canine at the AF site is because I thought maybe they could pick up a scent and maybe tell where it came from- I know that sounds stupid after all this time and the VSP are the experts but I believe there is no stupid question. Please forgive my long blog and boring tangent. Take Care!!!

    Gil Harrington’s thoughts from March 29th, 2010

Oh Dear Gil, Dan and Alex,
Please know that our hearts are breaking with you as you navigate this painful journey back to a new normal. Our continued love and prayers are offered daily. Your beautiful, shiny girl will show us the way, and we will never give up!

    2-4-1

Paradoxically, as the weather gets lighter and improves, our moods seem to have gotten somewhat darker, more desperate and thick. It could just be a combination of fatigue from the many months of worry and the many months of grief over Morgan’s death.

I want her. I miss her. I miss the warm lump she was in the bed when I shook her awake. I miss brushing out her long hair after a shower. I miss her smile, her voice. Afraid I’m already forgetting her voice. All I have is her cell phone away message to hold her tones in my mind.

Healing is not going back to what was, but accepting what is here now. I still struggle to wrap my mind around this new reality. I have saved articles and information to have on hand so that when the fog lifts, I can process all that has happened since 10/17/09, but how can you ever make sense of such an irrational barbaric act as rape and murder?

Tonight I’m stuck back on WHY? Why did she have to suffer? Why did so many dreams have to end? Genes have to end? Who will make nanny rolls when I’m dead? I realize the sadness is OK, even necessary, to feel. The trick is to feel it and be a conduit, acknowledge the pain and let it roll through you, not let it get you mired down and stuck in sorrow.

Have to stop clutching at what was and open to what is and see new possibilities. I know that this is the task in a nutshell- but tonight I am too pigheaded to soften into surrender. Will work on it.

Ok, this might be the worst one for me. I am at a loss.

Blink, I read here everyday, several times a day and through the night, and in many instances you all talk in such coded language that I can’t understand what you really mean. (I know, it’s me) The story about Eppard came to BOC sideways and not straight on. Unless I just missed the whole thing, (could be) I think justiceformorgan has been here long enough and maybe, like me, couldn’t understand what some of you were talking about when you talked about the Eppard incident. This guy shoots at police on rt 20 near Red Hill Rd sometime around January 26th and they kill him, and the fire and Morgan’s found body, too much activity in Charlottesville I’d say for it not to be coincidence. O and the sheriff that shot himself because his ears were ringing. Easier to ask Dr. to help you become deaf instead of suicide, but maybe that is just the way things are lately in Charlottesville, Virginia. I dunno, I’m going crazy.

If your saying I did not do an actual piece on it, that’s correct. However, there are tons tons of links and references. I was only requesting that because so many contributors provide the research, that I feel they may get discouraged when it is not being followed, I mean no disrespect.

The story of Colby Eppard being changed by a brain injury at seven (lack of impulse control) is sad, and believable. I had a brain injury at seven, and lost memory of the preceding year; a few tidbits are coming back only now. I do have other effects, but I cope. Really, with an injury at that age, no one can say for sure which are the effects of the injury and which would have been there regardless.

What I do want to say is this: Combining the statements of his stepfather, “Hunting was his life,” and his mother, “He acts before he thinks,” is truly frightening. Couldn’t they see that?

Greene County Man Killed In Shootout With Police

A Stanardsville teenager is dead after a chase with police ended in gunfire on Route 20 in Albemarle County. There are new details about how this tragic situation unfolded.

18-year-old Colby Eppard led police on a twisted chase through three counties by car and foot Friday afternoon, all the while taunting police by using their own car radio.
    ———

May I point out location, location, location:

The portion of Route 20 near Red Hill Road where the shoot-out happened is still closed as of Friday night, and traffic is being redirected towards the Walton Middle School.

“You underestimated a true hunter. I stalk my f****** prey, I stalk them. Sit there, I watched your little fat a**** run up through the woods and look around and you didn’t even notice that I was gone with your car. That’s how a real hunter does it.”

“Photos of Colby Eppard show a baseball-capped youth with a mustache and soul patch. He loved hunting, and in October killed a bear with a bow and arrow, says his mother. In November, he bagged a trophy deer. “Hunting was his life,” says his stepfather”

“Colby had no impulse control, says his mother. ‘He doesn’t think before he talks,” says Tracy Foster. “He’s not like a normal person. He acts before he thinks.”

    ——————-

Ironic that a young man who loved hunting, had no impulse control, and I will go out on a limb to say, no regard for the law, ends up on Red Hill Road.

For those not familiar with Southern Albemarle. Red Hill Road connects Rt 20 and Rt 29. When Red Hill Rd crosses 29, you can cross over 29 to get to the back end of AF.

Yeah, that makes no sense compared to everything else we’ve heard. Unless, it means they were separated before Metallica took the stage and not before the entire concert.

But this is the type of contradictory reporting that has been driving me crazy following the entire case.

    * They drove to UVA in her car / they didn’t take her car.
    * She was in the arena / she was separated from her group before the concert
    * She left to smoke / she left to go the bathroom / she left because we don’t know/ she was never inside
    * She cut her chin by falling inside / She most likely cut herself and fell outside
    * She was seen on video surveillance tapes / they have no video of her

It’s no wonder they haven’t solved this case yet, they can’t even get some of the simplest details corroborated. Or at least they haven’t released the correct info to the public that they may or may not know themselves.

You will find accelerants in almost any occupied structure which burns. The only significance is if it is detected near where the arson investigator believes is the point of origin. And there is always the “I-was-refinishing-granny’s-antique-dresser-with-linseed-oil-and-forgot-about-the-rags” answer. The red flag is petroleum distillates. Sometimes you can smell it and sometimes it takes chromatography. One would hope samples were taken in any fires deemed of interest to the instant case.

According to a self-proclaimed resident, it started in an electrical box, in a bedroom?

  47. Cat says:

JPJ and UVA – To me, it appears that there have been too many “coincidental details” that have occurred that would essentially absolve them of any liability in this case. Were there REALLY any credible witnesses that saw her HH? If so, have they spoken publicly anywhere? It also seems that this may be a detail that VSP and the Harrington’s disagree on. I am not entirely stating there is a conspiracy, but have we REALLY been provided accurate fundamental facts in this case?

  48. sweetpea says:

    Blink,

“Specifically, they CAN be credited with stating they have independent witnesses corroorating Morgan HH on the Copely Bridge, which would put her OFF JPJ grounds”.
    B

I was under the impression that LE had only one witness who reported Morgan HH on Copely Bridge. You use the plural form “Witnesses” Was there multiple persons who say the saw Morgan HH on Copely bridge???

Skyler – You were traveling that bridge that evening? Was there a lot of traffic? I remember reading a post that stated they did not think it would be physically possible for a person to HH on that bridge or at least on that side of the bridge because it is too narrow. Obviously, you are familiar with the bridge, what do you think???

I have never believed Morgan would be HH on that bridge on that cold and rainy night. No jacket and the water splashing up from the cars going by. Really does not make any sense to me.

  49. suz says:

fish, I’m thinkin’ that if WT knows he had nothing to do with Morgan, then there would be no need for prudence on his part.

  50. total amateur: Have you heard of Australia’s thoughts on the internet? I just heard a blip on it last night. From that, I could support it – if, it turns out like I think it will, I will support it. Yes, all rights have responsibilities. Pedophiles depend on societies’ ‘freedoms’ to protect their way of procreating themselves while making our children their prey. If an agricultural crop developes a disease, you have to destroy all those crops to save the others; the same with live-stock. You have to segregate and destroy the bad, to protect the good (innocent), even if it helps (protects) your neighbor more than yourself.
