Continuing today, divers have been spotted along Sauvie Island being instructed by a Geospatial analyst. A source inside the investigation speaking to blinkoncrime.com on the condition of anonymity has confirmed the team is being guided by the aerial images taken from the National Guards Black Hawk Helicopter this past weekend. The team has been advised they are looking for a large container, possibly a suitcase or duffle bag, within the shore line. Fueling the speculation MCPD may be looking for a serial sex offender, following blinkoncrime.com article and radio interview Sunday evening,  journalists in Portland requested a judge make the Boy Scout “Perv Files” public information the following day in a previously unscheduled court appearance. On Monday, the judge promised to “get a decision out as fast as I can.” The jury awarded Lewis $1.4 million in compensatory damages and assessed the Scouts $18.5 million in punitive damages. The 1,247 files were described in court Monday as covering two decades and totaling more than 20,000 pages. The groups seeking the records are The Oregonian, The New York Times, Oregon Public Broadcasting, KGW-TV, The Associated Press and Courthouse News Service. Their lawyer, Dan Lindahl of Portland, cited the state constitution’s Bill of Rights: “No court shall be secret, but justice shall be administered, openly and without purchase.” Contributing editor Jason Mateos, Klaasend

Great piece, Blink. I wonder what information leads LE to be looking for a duffel bag or suitcase. Can you offer any more information on this?

Sorry, no. I am thrilled about seeking the perv files, that is huge.

B – you are way more aware of this than I am but the cell phone tower info gets sketchy once you are outside of a major metropolitan area. They are no longer required to be registered with the FCC. There are only 2 towers that are marked in the area I mapped based upon the request for security camera from local business on the listed streets. One is off of I30 north close to Scappoose and the other one that is marked is at I26 and Jackson School Road. I know there have to be towers in between.

I’ve pegged a google map with the logical routes that LE may think the perp may have taken.

Possible Route #1) It appears they are looking all the way north on Skyline Blvd – up to old Skyline Road then to old Rocky Point Rd and over to I30 close to Sauvi Island.
Possible Route #2) NW Skyline Blvd to NW McNamee Rd to I30 up to Rocky Point exit on I30
Possible Route #3) NW Skyline Blvd to NW Newberry Rd to I30 up to Rocky Point exit on I30

The rest of the points I’m assuming are something about how the perp either backtracked or where he went before heading up north to I30. My guess is that he lives in the area surrounded by: I26 West Boundary-NW Springville Rd North Boundary NW Union turns into NW Thompson Rd South Boundary and NW Skyline Blvd East Boundary. Which is mostly residential – with some residential when pulled up on Google Earth.

These are all just my opinions based upon what’s been released so far.

Awesome job, Blink! Here’s a link to an article dated April 24th, 2010 penalizing the Boy Scouts $18.5 million:
    http://cbs3.com/topstories/boy.scouts.abouse.2.1653877.html

Thought this particular part was interesting:
Lawyers for Lewis had asked the jury to award at least $25 million to punish the Boy Scouts for what the jury had already agreed in the first phase of the trial was reckless and outrageous conduct.

They also noted the Boy Scouts had never apologized to Lewis, who said Friday at a news conference that the verdict shows that “big corporations can’t be above the law.”

Not trying to be too hard on the BS, but seriously? No apology? My gosh!

Thanks, Titch, you really must read my work sometime, lol!

That article is referenced in my piece about it from Sun.

Good job again on Dana Pretzer, Blink. And a big salute to you for seeing some positive action comes out of all this with the perv files. It saddens me to hear that as of today, Kyron’s search is specified to a suitcase or container in a body of water. I can’t help but be reminded of how things unfolded with Sandra Cantu and how unfathomable it was that gem of a little girl skipping in the video could end up being found the way she was. Let’s hope Kyron surprises us and becomes one of our more inspiring examples of cases that can have a happy ending as well!

It surprises me that the main feelings the friend’s mom conveyed in the newscast were: “we’re confused” and “it’s a mystery”.

What about we’re “freaking out”, “scared to death”, “worried about our son’s safety”, “paranoid”? This does not seem right coming from a teammate’s mother.

Could these friends’ parents possibly suspect a relative and that is why they don’t seem alarmed?

  16. Boz says:

I know it’s a stretch Blink but do you think they fingerprinted the boys bathroom in that school? I have the feeling this perp waited in there for the first kid to come along, stuffed him in something and just walked out with him. (maybe knocked out, chloroform style). Maybe they could match a fingerprint to a predator database somewhere. Just thinking….

    Congrats for the BS files.

I think the school was processed, yes, but I think Kyron knew him. Not feeling stranger at all.

The three offenders that I can find on the various SO registries (national, local, etc.) are below. The each have incredibly easy access to Skyline Blvd from where they live. St. John’s Bridge turns into NW Germantown Rd which turns into NW Skyline Blvd. So if we’re looking for a serial offender these guys might be worth taking a look at. I’ll dig further.

    CLAYTON SCOTT LEWIS

    SHAWN ALLEN OHARA
    7033 N IDA AVE 97203

And I added Mr. Van Dykes, Mr. Dykes, Mr. Vandykes, Mr. Van Dyke just to have him on here although his listed address is pretty far south compared to the three offenders with a track record of preferring little boys that are listed above.

kim, probably not furnace firing season i’d guess, and there would probably only be one or two folks at the school that would know how to operate it. it would be a pretty ballsy move for someone to pull that off during school.

It’s a damn shame that something like the Boy Scouts cannot be one of the last wholesome activities for boys and young men to enjoy. Both my nephews participate and the oldest is going for Eagle Scout. They have been sheltered or so I hope. Thankfully, they are vocal and large boys who would not be easy targets (I pray). Perverts go where kids are so we shouldn’t be surprised…but I must say I am and I’m simply sick of hearing about these creeps.

  21. Ragdoll says:

I know I’m a big mouth poster on here that doesn’t have much to offer. I do want to express deep gratitude and admiration for your tenacity and perseverance in the name of our children. If you didn’t take on these daunting tasks, there’d be no perv files or justice for Christine Sheddy’s, Caylee Anthony’s, and other victims of violence.

Like many others, I am struggling with this. Emotions get the best of me and I found myself dwelling on horrific thoughts. I need to step back for a bit. I am a HUGE HUGE supporter and perhaps someday, God willing, He will give me the courage to grow up just like you.

With all love and gratitude xo

PS….one final thought….I hope and pray that schools across the world who’ve been exposed to this story learn about surveillance, proper accountability of attendance during science fairs, track and field days, school plays, etc. I know too many parents who would be more than happy to volunteer to man tables for signatures and id checks, me included.

    Great Point My dear Ragdoll.

I think the jury may be out on the “I am a grown up” part though, lol.

I remember reading on a “blotter” from the area that in the days leading up to Kyron’s disappearance, a gps was stolen from a parked truck and in a seperate incident, two backpacks filled with clothes were stolen from a parked vehicle. Significant or not, I don’t know.

YES! Blink, shine that light on the pervs and on those who protect them!

  23. Midwest Mom says:

    Blink,

I had a second “flash”, again I hesitate because I am unfamiliar with what it all means, however I have prayed long and hard for a way to help these children, and it is only a matter of time before the lord answers, although not in the way I expected. Just realize my heart is in the right place.

Two story, brown house(milk chocolate) colonial style, door in the middle with WHITE beams on both sides of the door (usually these would be called pillars- in this case I would call them beams) black shutters, three windows on second floor with the middle one being right above the door. A simple house nothing fancy

Again, sorry don’t know what else to do with my experience other than share it and hope it helps

  24. mag603 says:

    Blink has clout!

For anyone who wonders about Kyron’s family I have a story to share. My dear 6yr old niece passed away after a battle with cancer. She was in hospice and we knew she was at the end of her life. When it finally happened her parents totally fell apart. If someone would have asked them to stand in front of a tv camera — there was NO WAY they could do it. My sister said that her body literally ached from the pain. I am quite certain that Kyron’s family has been blindsided and devastated.

My heart breaks for Kyron, his family, and community. It is unacceptable that he was taken from school. As a former child welfare worker, I’ve learned there are many monsters in this world. Many never brought to court for the atrocities they commit against children.

I pray for all those searching and those who vowed not to let this become a cold case. Prayers that little man Kyron is found and that this devastated family can some how survive the unimagineable.

Thanks for all you do Blink

This link provides a visual representation of the location of the registered sex offenders in the counties surrounding Kyron’s school.

It is chilling to see how many there are. And these are just the ones in compliance with the registry.

  28. tracygirl says:

Blink what do you believe is the reason LE is saying this is an isolated incident?
The parents statement said something to the effect, Kyron looks up to his big brothers, do you know who the 2nd (or possibly more)brothers are or how old they are?

I think they have a suspect and he is under surveillance.
    B

  29. Midwest Mom says:

    Blink,

Just to clarify, they are wanting the records of the lawsuit to see if there are more perps that have NOT been exposed. Their intent is not to re victimize the victims, correct? Also I would like to applaud Mr. Lewis and others like him who have had the strength and courage to go after justice when at times it must have seemed impossible.

If it is in fact released to the public, I am certain the names of any victims under OR statute will be redacted.
    B

  30. TR says:

I wonder why they are releasing photos of his glasses today? Especially in light of the fact that they have dive teams focusing on recovering a body? This case continues to baffle me. I also read somewhere that police released drawings made by Kyron. I haven’t verified that fact, but it seems strange.

I am going to defer on that one.

  31. sunshine says:

thank you so much blink for all of your hard work in the pursuit of justice!

i think kyron and his parents both know who this person is, which makes me think it could possibly be another parent from the school. i know it can be hard to believe that someone who is a parent could hurt another child, but it does happen. sex offenders can have children too and i hope the police have thoroughly investigated every parent that was in the building that day.

  36. minima says:

    BLINK!!!

I have been following this story closely. I was a parent that received a call from PPS stating that Kyron was missing, before it even hit the news. I am not usually one to judge from afar, convict people via- hunches, media, ect., or even follow cases like this, (I hardly watch the news)! However, I have followed this story very closely, as I said…I am just wondering if you have ruled out the step-mom? I’d realy like to put her out of my mind, but I can’t help but feel she has something to do with it. Her behavior was just so shocking in these first several days. Portland is really torn, some feel resolute that she is guilty, others get angry and defensive over her speculated involvment. I have been hoping this sweet guy would be found swiftly and alive. But with the turn of events, it seems obvious that they believe his is no longer alive. They obviously have info they are not giving us, which is understandable…I’d just like to know if YOU think she is a possible POI? Also, wouldn’t they publicly state that the family was cleared if they had cleared them, or not? It just seems like they would with so many people speculating the step-mom…The whole step-mom debate is a hot botton issue here. And let me be very clear, I am not accussing her, but her behavior has raised A LOT of speculation in Portland and with no details it’s just so unclear. One minute it’s a search and rescue, the next they send them home and start looking in the columbia. They say it’s an isolated incident, but that seems to me that that would indicate it’s “personal,” like a family member or friend. If it’s even a perpetrator, they have no way of knowing if this is “isolated” or not, am I wrong?

We have taken the loss and mystery of this boy hard here. It really, truly has affected this city. Our hearts are just aching for him and I just don’t think we will rest until we know what the hell happened. We want peace for Kyron. Whatever that looks like in the end.

    I’d LOVE your insight, please!

There is no way in the free world if step mom was a POI that a deputy would be with them 20/7 per day, without informing her she was a suspect. NEVER happen. Every shred of evidence they would have had on her would get tossed out by a pre LSAT JD wanna be with his hands behind his back.

That said, I have stated many times it is possible this is a member of their extended family , but definitely known to the family and to Kyron.

Are there any other step-brothers or just this one? Do we know anything about his dad?

  43. Twinkletoes says:

I just read on another site that the blackhawk helicopter can use heat seeking infrared technology but it cannot be used for a criminal investigation for some reason. The speculation on the other site was that the searchers were done with the helicopter and therefore declared the investigation criminal. Wondering what your thoughts are on this notion, Blink.

I am so antsy for an arrest in this case. I really hope they have some idea who took this little fellow.

    Heh?
I would need to see it in context. I mentioned the thermal infared capabilities days ago, so it must be in regard to needing a warrant to track a possible suspect that way, which could be true. It is used primarily for search and rescue, but it has some use in recovery I will not discuss here.
    B

  44. sueK says:

Blink, can you elaborate on your above comment about LE surveilling the parents? No warrant necessary, I don’t get what you mean about evidence being thrown out.

Anything LE gleans from their stay with the family is admissible in court because the stay is consensual.

That is not necessarily true SueK if they are aware she was a POI in any capacity, at any time.

It is entirely based on the reason the deputy is there for in the first place. Another example would be his role within the PD- is he the chaplain?

I am simply referencing the fact that if they were a poi or suspect, that scenario would be a defense attorney’s windfall.
    B

I did not use the word surveill in response to the deputy and parents.

  45. TR says:

I love that story you shared about your son. I think it would be a beautiful tribute if he got a little critter (maybe not a tree frog) and named him after this other sweet little boy. Too bad so many people lose that kindness as they age.

Thank you, he is a very kind and compassionate child, not as much with his sister, though, lol
    B

  46. minima says:

    Blink -

Ah, interesting. Thank you for clearing that up. I don’t know the laws that surround such issues; I was thinking maybe they were with them to keep a watch on them – but then I thought, if they suspected them, they’d give them room to, well, see what they were going to do.

I am still wondering if LE would publicly state that the family (mom-step-dad/step-mom-dad) are cleared? I also wonder why they don’t state who/what/where he was last seen at 9am. In the very beginning there was a statement (possible rumor) that a couple people from the school saw him leave with the step-mom…is that something that you heard?

Thanks again! Just trying to get my fact straight and make sense of all this. There’s just so much misinformation out there.

  47. SS says:

Okay, wait. They’re looking for Kyron in a body of water. They’re looking for video footage of someone on the roads around the school. They maybe think someone took him there on a specific road. Yet they say it’s an “isolated case”? That can’t mean a sex offender then, because a sex offender would definitely be a threat to any child in the school. So that means they think it’s a family member who specifically wanted to take only Kyron and isn’t likely to bother anyone else’s child.

  48. Judi says:

As a mother of two boys, though mine are much older now, this is terribly heart-breaking.

After Columbine, my local school district made a lot of changes. You cannot get into any of the schools without speaking with the office through the intercom and letting them know who you are and what you are there for. Once buzzed in, you have to sign your name and put your time in and time out. There are metal detectors at the doors, as well as school police. There are cameras every where. My kids tell me the only places where there are not cameras are in the bathrooms and locker-rooms. An automated system calls, granted not until the end of the day, to let you know which periods your child was absent from that day or if he/she was absent all day.

You can’t take anything for granted these days.

RE: RSO’s…..I have an idea. If lawmakers insist on letting RSOs back into general society to offend again, because they can’t be cured, we can’t “fix them”, then make every single one where an ankle bracelet equipped with a GPS that obviously, for one, keeps track of where they are/were at all times, but also is equipped with an alert system to work with the GPS that would set off an alarm when a RSO gets near a school, bus stop, playground, etc. At least it would be doing SOMETHING, which is better than NOTHING, baby step as it may be, to fix a terribly broken justice system that allows these people back amongst our children and women.
