Kyron big tooth

Portland, OR-Over the last week, much information has been developed about the extended families of Kaine and Terri Horman, and the circumstances with which Kyron came to reside primarily with them, visiting Mom and step-dad Desiree and Tony Young on monthly visits.

One thing that is not clear however, is how Terri Moulton Horman’s oldest son, 16 year old James, came to live with his maternal grandparents after living with the Horman’s until this past January. He now lives with his biological father who gave up his rights to him to Terri’s second husband, who stills pays child his support.

KyronLeafPile

He is believed to have been on a Boy Scout camping trip with his father Ron Tarver and his half-siblings the weekend Kyron went missing.

By all accounts, and certainly by all photos, James and Kyron were *tight* brothers from another mother.

Although it has not been confirmed by Multnomah County Police, it is believed that the focus on Sauvie Island, and the surrounding area is related to cell phone pings from Terri Harmon’s phone the day of Kyron’s disappearance on Friday June 4th. According to family friend, Terri was asked to take a second polygraph this past Saturday, and was frustrated and tired at investigator’s questions as “she was where she says she was.”

BlinkThink: An Investigative Editorial Of Sorts..

Frequently, in our team’s development of information and analysis on the cases I feature, readers and listeners ask my opinion on several items of information that I may not be prepared to release out of context. In some cases, they are working theories. It is however, how we handle our “war room” and take raw data to reportable data. This case continues to baffle so many, I thought I would take this opportunity to show our readership how we work behind the scenes.  Pardon grammar in advance, these are actual excerpts from our collective work stations.

For obvious reasons, this is the collective work of the editors of blinkoncrime.com; the “raw” we discount or scrap is not included.

Priority Lead #1

Tanner Pumala, 8 year old desk-mate of Kyron Horman, was the last person to see BOTH Kyron and Terri Moulton. He is his self-professed best friend, and also his neighbor. His grandmother, Wendy Fuhrer, allowed him to speak to the press, although she was specifically asked not to. As he is a minor, it would require a signed release from his parent or guardian.

Finding of Facts:

LisaPumalaNo mention of his Mother, Lisa Fuhrer Pumala

Tanner’s account states that the substitute noticed Kyron was missing from the headcount. He said she alerted the regular teacher, Ms. Porter, who told her he was probably in the bathroom.

Subissue for Flagging:

There was NO substitute that day. She had been there Monday through Thursday. Why would he offer that specific account, and simultaneously say that Kyron told him he was headed upstairs to the “cool electic one”? As his deskmate, wouldn’t he interject that information?

He was interviewed by BOTH the FBI and MCSO, and asked not to release his information, but did anyway. Who or what really prompted this?

He remarks he did not see him on the bus, so the day goes by, including the talent show, with no further discussion of Kyron although he would not have been in the bathroom for several hours.

KyronDadFriendHowever, he states he was not aware Kyron was missing until that evening, when his DAD saw it on the news.

(Jason Mateos Notes: Could the duo simply have wandered outside together at the prospect of catching a live frog for the exhibit and accidentally fall in the pond and the child is scared.

Blink Response: Plausible only if Tanner unaccounted for, the pond is across the street, and they literally would have to go out of the parking lot, which was heavily occupied at the time. Project next to his is Pond Turtle, however.

The Fuhrer residence, on the market since April 2010, borders the Horman property, and extensive search efforts covered this property. Their is a white truck and camper located at the residence in the photos of the listing.

Brian Pumala, Tanner’s father is a plumber and recent electritian apprentice through JATC. He resides with one Ann Pumala on NW Mill in a houseboat on the channel. Quarry Rd, is directly behind his residence as well as the Quarry that was searched initially.

Brian Pumala HouseWater

Finding of Fact:

From Blink notes: Pumala address is on Sauvie. In particular it is the start of the original start area for which MCSO requests video footage, and it has direct access to the channel, which has been a heavy search point.

Additionally folks– we have the investigative equivalent of “the closest distance between 2 points” here. Gram or “mom” Pumala is neighbor to Ky.

Non-custodial Dad, a former neighbor and presumed aquaintance, lives withing the perimeter of the focus of most of the search efforts, AND the alleged cell pings.

Subject: FW: Kaine Horman’s son is missing

All,

If you have seen local Oregon news or been browsing the internet or FaceBook there is a good chance you have seen an article similar to the one that Becky forwarded (below).  While this note is difficult for me to write in this state of mind I felt it necessary for Kyron’s sake.

Optional actions for you:

The Intel network is large and wide-reaching.  Many have asked me what they can do to help us and my answer is the following:

1. Forward Kyron’s information to as many people as you feel comfortable with; the more people that see this will increase our chances of finding him

2. Do not speak to any media if contacted; I am trying to contact Intel legal to give them the heads up and help with this situation

Physical description at the time of his disappearance (picture is show in Becky’s note and here):

He is 3 foot 8 and 50 pounds, with blue eyes and brown hair. He was wearing black cargo pants, white socks, worn black Sketcher tennis shoes with orange trim and dark-colored t-shirt with the “CSI” show logo

Police Hot Line Number:

(503) 261-2847

Some rough background:

The article that Becky forwarded is pretty accurate with details.  He was dropped off at school about 8:45 and went missing sometime between then and 9 or 9:30am.  We did not know he was not at school until we went to get him off of the bus at 3:30 and he was nowhere to be found.  The bus driver immediately called the school which responded that his teacher had not seen him all day in class, at which point we notified police in partnership with the school.  It is still unknown whether he left school grounds on his own or was abducted.  Be assured that there are currently an amazing number of agencies and amount of person-power being applied to the search and investigation.

Thank you all for the thoughts and prayers for Kyron’s safe return.  I will update the group once status changes which will hopefully be soon.  At the time of this note Kyron has now been missing for ~48 hours; time is of the essence.

JM session notes: Bolded by Me. Dad states he went to the bus stop with Terri. Indicates both vehicles were at the residence, and in working order. What prompted his schedule to be home at that hour, would it be normal? Why is this the only account that features the Dad at the bus stop.

“in partnership” is odd wording. What does that mean exactly?

Terri Horman call to school: When do the exhibits need to be picked up?

TerriClassroomBlink notes: exculpatory. If your counting on a timeline that gives you until approximately 3:30PM, why would you risk the potential to raise the flag of Kyron’s absence. He was in fact, marked absent, although his things remained on his desk. SM calls and askes when the exhibits needed to be removed. In my mind, it is to see if she needed to also pick Kyron up that day, as he could not manage it himself on the bus.

Priority Lead #4

The questionaire released by MCSO and the FBI KyronQuestions

blinkoncrime.com editor JM, an experienced investigator and polygrapher, believes strongly there would have had to have been a deceptive response to necessitate a second poly. Blink notes: I believe strongly this is designed to progress leads in this case. My opinion as to “why” may be very unique.  It is almost as if they want someone to believe she is a suspect, stopping short of naming her. Could they be hoping for someone to make contact with her. Admittedly, agreed on the deceptive response, but could she have exposed a bad guy to Kyron through her behavior or actions, but had nothing to do with his disappearance? Those images are FBI generated from an analysis they preformed on her behavior, no doubt in my mind.

blinknotes: I believe it possible the questionaire was requested for multiple reasons. Again, I cannot wrap around her. Put plainly folks-her profile does not match up to execution or strategy as we know it.  I also believe this is designed to produce 300 exemplars. With the DA present while parents were to drop off their completed questionaires, I again think aloud– is there a convened GJ at the moment, in this case?

Also, what about this– it lets them capture the make, model, and plates of cars coming to the school with completed forms. Does our guy show up at 9am or 6PM on Father’s Day with kid in car, borrowed from someone, or does he send it with another parent?

Actual excerpt in work session:

*warning graphic* professionals need to de-sensatize in order to analyze.

Research/Investigstive Professional: Something is bad wrong is going on inside the Horman home without a doubt.  I tend to look at folks who will not talk. Terri is simply acting odd. She has odd expressions. I mean effin odd; a self-centered nutcase. Unequivocally, yes, but she has an extensive track record of caring for kids. I would def buy her having an affair.  If this is her, what kind of lame ass plot is this, in the first place. You drug the kid, you take him out on your own damn property, or closest body of water, and call the cops the next morning with your back door open and his foot trail still fresh. Say he has a history of sleepwalking. In that neighborhood, the critters would have him by then ( sorry, I know). This woman spend significant time with the school and his class. She had the baby in there, multiple times, knows all the kids by name. This is where she is going to take every risk and chance to off the child she has cared for since birth with no conceivable motive– no history of mental illness,  and a facebook of loving family photos, several of which taken by her of a beaming Kyron? Not feeling it.

That said, it is connected to her in some way. Scorned lover? Unrequited affection of someone at the school? Kyron was chosen because of her?

The baby Kiara, was not with Terri and Kyron that morning.

JM notes:

I don’t know where dad was.

I do not know what he drove.

I don’t know when he left.

I do not know when he came home.

I do not know for sure he was even at work but it would be easy enough to document with ID swipes, etc.

I do not know where the baby was.

I do not know who was watching the baby.

I do not know why dad decided to come home early to meet the bus (and even that is in question.)

Where was she and is this normal routine?

    WOW! I am not worthy!

Reading above just makes me realize why you and your team do what you do! You know how I always ask, “Why B? Do you do this work?” Well, I have my answer after 8 months of reading and participating on your site for Morgan Harrington. (Which led me here)

You are truly there for those victims. You give them a voice. Obviously, you and your team have the analytical minds it takes to work on these cases. I however, at times, am too emotional and raw. Oh, how I wish you could solve them all. I’ll support in whatever way I can. Which I know is not much.

TY, we are the sum of our parts.
    B

I’m not too proud or selfish to admit that I do not understand all of the above but I wonder if the stepmother did become involved with someone who’s main goal was to “get to Kyron”. Even if it was not an affair. How about someone working in the Horman homestead? Kyron would have seen him or her and well, would he have gone with the person? Well, he would if they said his stepmom or the baby needed him. Maybe stepmom’s guilt is she knows or at least has a gut feeling. Maybe she was involved with a person of interest. Just a thought.

B, You should be proud of your work. You and your team! I guess each and every one of us has a place in life.
My life experiences are out on my sleeve.
    So to speak.

    Blink,

The accounts of that day say the backpack and coat are on Kyrons desk. Weren’t the student’s science projects on thier own desks? If so, then there was no room for these items.

  7. LPB says:

Well now we have to pull up more info on Pumala Dad. Has he been questioned? Why isn’t Tanner living with Dad?

Only my theory, but, If TM was having an affair with Pumala and she was trying to end it, maybe he was getting back at her. But if the Pumala family had any idea that this might be the case, why would they let Tanner speak out? If dad is that estranged from family, maybe this is their way of calling out to him? That doesn’t make to much sense. Just my thoughts.

  8. GriffyMom says:

I would have to take the classmates account out of the equation. His mistake of their being a substitute on that day could merely be having had one all week he assumed that was the teacher on Friday. Seven year old boys have minds that are all over the place. Add to that, this kid might just want some attention while he can get it, so I hope the authorities are focusing on something far more concrete.

  9. SH says:

My uneducated opinion is Tanner sounded rehearsed and his eyes are focused on someone coaching him.

  10. lizzy says:

Regarding the bolded “we” in Kaine’s e-mail: It could just be the marital team “we” that some of us use. I often say “we did this” or “we have this rule” when it may just be either one of my husband or I. Sort of like a sports team saying “we made a goal in the last seconds of the game,” rather than stating which specific team members did it.

Regarding James’ living situation and child support: I posted about this some days ago, but I think it was a post that stayed pending. Anyway, it seems to me that the pictures/captions that Terri posted and the comments of a friend go along with this. From those, it seemed that James was looking happier, and that Terri was grateful that his ‘stepmother?’ was helping him work with his horse which was good for him.

Regarding the science fair: Was the science fair in the gym or the classrooms? There have been several comments about the noisy gym, and Kyron going back to his room. But it certainly looked to me as if the photos of the tree frog projects were taken in a classroom. When were the projects brought in? That morning? Because of the science fair was from 8 to 10 a.m., it seems that setup would have needed to be the day before.

Thanks for posting your work process.

  11. Lisa says:

Funny that she would follow a case like Haleigh’s. I’ve thought all along that she reminded me of Misty. My feeling is that maybe Terri was having an affair and Kyron found out about it. I was Kyron’s age when I discovered my dad had a girlfriend. I immediatley mentioned it to my mom. Maybe Terri was afraid of Kyron telling Kaine?

  12. Kaylee says:

The unemotional language of Kaine’s email startled me until I realized he probably wrote it in “Intel” language. You use language appropriate for your audience, and that must have been firmly ingrained in him.

I have seen many concerns as to why Kaine would have been home at this time on a work day. Many businesses in the Portland area have early start times due to traffic issues. At least two of the Portland businesses with which my husband consults start at 6:00 am and finish at 2:30, with a half-hour lunch. My daughter worked at of these places last summer and was home to Vancouver by 3:00. Kaine making sure that he got off on time on a Friday is reasonable to me.

Wow on the Pumala connection – just wow.

  13. LPB says:

@raceyrin: the science fair was “downstairs” somewhere in the school. I remember reading that somewhere on this site or another.

  14. orangeparkgirl says:

Excellent piece Blink & team. Something that stood out to me when I read the letter from Desiree to Kyron was the line about his best friend : “Mayson is terribly sad without his best friend to play with and wants you home soon.” When I read about a best friend, I guess I was expecting them to say “Tanner is missing you” since I had already seen the video of Tanner Pumala. Maybe it was an indirect message to say Tanner is not the best friend and that this family is just using the deskmate relationship to be in the news- which goes along with them being asked not to talk to any media and talking anyway. That said, I can’t see a 7 year old being able to keep track of such a complex story if it was a lie, so I don’t know that I think he’s lying, the whole thing is just strange.

  15. Kaylee says:

Here’s how I see the call to the school/911 going down. Terri and Kaine go to the bus to get Kyron. He isn’t on the bus and they start freaking out. The bus driver offers to call the school secretary who says that Kyron has been marked absent. The bus driver hands the phone (or walkie talkie) to one of the parents and the secretary asks if she should call 911. The parents say yes and the secretary puts them on hold to call 911. There’s your partnership.

  16. Twinkletoes says:

Very, very interesting. Thank you so much for the glimpse inside your work on this case. I agree with your team. Terri might very well be a nut job, but that doesn’t make her a child killer. More likely, she is hiding a little rendevous with candidate for husband number 4. Clearly, she has a weakness in the male-female relationship arena and is a high “stray-risk”. Maybe she was hooking up with someone from “the gym”? One of Kaine’s relatives? Who knows.
But I do think when she comes clean on whatever her deep secrets are, it will further the investigation. And perhaps that is why LE is letting her fall under such harsh public scrutiny–so she will crack and give them the real details of her day. Thank you for this update though. Remember the stages of grief. She has been in denial much of the time we’ve seen her. She will move toward acceptance and at that point, I honestly believer her love for this child, for children in general, will overcome any care she has to protect her marriage or the life she created with Kaine. She will put “it” out in the light of day, because in spite of whatever flaws she has or mistakes she has made, she is fundamentally a loving person. She will end her role in this case on that note. I am confident of it.
I feel somewhat validated in following my gut on this case, in spite of it not much making sense. You’ve filled in some blanks for me and I think I am going to finally sleep through the night tonight without dreaming of this horrible case. :O)
My gut also tells me to look closer at the men in this family.

  17. lily says:

Blink – Fantastic article. Lots to think about. I’m not sure but do you have Point A and B backwards on the 2nd map under Priority Lead #1? Very interesting to note that Terri has followed missing children cases. I hope that doesn’t say anything about all of us! LOL

All of those questions about where were Kaine and the baby – seems like those would be easy to answer but we’ve heard nothing. The daycare employees would know when/if the baby was there. Co-workers would know Kaine’s activities that day. It’s been radio silence as far as I know from everyone except the one friend of Terri’s and Wendy Fuhrer. Hmmm

  18. SA says:

Or does Tanner know something and his family is trying to discredit him by letting him talk to the media so that if true details do come out, the authorities won’t believe him because he has been labeled “unreliable”? Or did Tanner see a woman in the room that he thought was a substitute teacher? Maybe another Mom? Just a thought.

  19. Twinkletoes says:

Oh, and regarding the best friend interview: That grandmother is coming from the same place Terri is: She cannot stand to see another person suffering and I suspect that she allowed the child to speak in spite of LE’s request not to, in an effort to stop the witch hunt against Terri. The little boy said he saw Terri leave without Kyron. I do not expect him to understand the difference between a substitute teacher and a chaperone. Whatever he called her, he conveyed the facts of her oversight over children and her noticing that there were only 5 instead of 6 and the teacher’s response in what seemed very believable to me. And it makes perfect sense to me that he would be interested enough as Kyron’s best friend to hear any comments about him, but naive enough as an 8 year old to assume that the adults knew why Kyron wasn’t there and why he didn’t come back from the bathroom. Of most importance to me is that he said he saw Terri leave and Kyron was not with her.

  20. kelli says:

a couple of things that bother me, I’m a mother of a 7 yr old boy and a 1 yr old girl. First off my observations are:
    1. why wouldn’t you walk him all the way to his class? if I was in the school i’ve never scene a parent just wave good-bye like that, normally they like to walk to the class, say hi to the teacher. your in the school, why not? sometimes I admit I drop my son off outside the school and watch him walk into school not taking him to the classroom but if i was in the school sure thing I’ll walk to the classroom.
    2. convenient that the baby was not with her that morning, I’m a mother of a 1 yr old , why and where was she? its not that easy to walk around without your kid as the mom, you have to plan with a babysitter or family in advance, usually their glued to you 24/7.
    3. his frog project looked a little too perfect for a 2nd grader, it was as if the person that helped him with the project wanted to appear as if that they were in a way overcompensating or desiring to project themselves as a ‘good parent’, innocently sometimes we as parents will overdo our kids projects or the way they dress or appear to make it same as if we have got it together when sometimes we really don’t that definitely stood out to me when you see the other kids projects next to kyron in the picture, moreso than the mysterious people in the picture
    4. in my own opinion which we are all entitled too I highly doubt some freaky stranger sex offender was that brazen to come into a school and pull off taking of all kids a 2nd grader that can scream, walk and talk and defend themselves – not buying it. to me its someone that knew the operations of the school in particular that the phone system to the school was unreliable, ie a teacher or parent or someone that’s both.
I have noticed that sometimes with my son that in the past i have forgottenly not called him in sick and sometimes/most of the time they don’t notice, don’t follow up, it seems like it would have to be someone that knew the phone system for absences was unreliable and in most cases the school doesn’t follow up because otherwise you don’t know whether that school will issue an alarm immediately for a missing child – in my eyes its too risky for the sickest of the sick
    5. it seems convenient to me to make an appearance at the school for 10 -15 min and act like we are here, look at us and then dissapear – every teenager does this at one point or another to be deceptive to teachers/family so they can buy time to run off with their boyfriend/friends, look at me I’m here I showed up now I’m not here. look at me I’m here again, you saw me now I’m spending the morning smoking out back etc. too convenient and then not to have the baby with her?!
    6. my observation is with 7 yr olds which I have one currently, he’s a dreamer but once in a school setting that structured environment has kindof been ingrained into them by that point big difference between 5 yrs and 7 yrs, i think Kyron had every intention of going into his classroom but something or someone lured him, someone he knew
if I told my 7 yr old meet me in 2min on the side door when I pull up the car I’m taking you to a dr’s appt and then I’ll bring you back to school, he would do it without question but if a stranger did that he would run to the nearest trustworthy adult even someone he knew he still wouldn’t do it because most 7 yr old’s know its wrong and frankly weird, they essentially have a mind of their own at that point and are capable of talking back.
I’m just an average mom that reads the news but these are things that keep running through my mind as I hope and pray there is a resolution very soon for this sweet little boy. my deepest deepest prayers.

  21. Jiji Moran says:

To me, the reason for calling to check on when to pick up the science project is that she wanted to know if the school had already realized that he was missing.

If the school had realized he was missing, on her call they would ask if he was with her or where was he. Then she would mount a raucus saying he was supposed to be at the school, 911 is called, and that would be how his disappearance would become public.

That failed, so they waited for him at the bus stop… and “so on and so forth…”

Some points I would like to see discussed are:

Father’s direct involvement in Kyron’s disappearance. Was he at work that day?

Did the SM go to school that morning at all, and everyone who said they saw her and Kyron were mistaken on the dates? Including the Pumala boy and the teacher (who apparently has no idea what goes on around her?)

If she was there, did she leave immediately after taking the picture?

    Motives for Kyron’s disappearance.

  22. NoseyRosey says:

Blink- VH (the hinky meter) mentioned Terri had some activity on facebook after she called the school to see why Kyron didn’t get off the bus- Activity including games. VH did say however, she can’t be sure exactly what time the games were accessed. Do you have any information on this issue? I am with you on Terri not specifically causing harm to Kyron, but things just aren’t adding up for her.
I think when compared to Summer Thompson’s mom in the face of the media this family seems as though they are hiding some secrets- but in the same respect I don’t want to judge them for not acting “normal”. What is normal in these situations…..really?

We cant be sure that was her, can we? But if so, again, I would say it goes to alibis.
    B

  23. kelli says:

one more comment, I did observe the SM facebook page before it was taken down /made private. Besides the obvious ‘hitting the gym’ comment and constantly being on facebook giving a thumbs up to every comment – which again attention, lots of attention on her page. her pictures jumped out at me, not in one picture on her page did she embrace kyron, not one. she either was holding the little girl or they were pictures with other family members but not once did I see her paying mind to him in the pics usually her back was to him while he had that big bright smile. for one that you would consider your own, I mean my pics of my children I’m constantly trying to get all of us in one pic smiling which never seems to happen but I’m constantly embracing my children.

Kelli- respectfully I strongly disagree with this. The bulk of my kids pics when they were tots are just of them, and together. As Mr. Blink was at work for the majority of them. Now that the Summer is here, again I am BlinkFlashster.. Now, there are alot of affectionate pics as well, but in general they are when we are both home.

I have been through every pic on her FB. I believe she had strong bonds with all 3 kids, imo.
You know what a pain it is, to cart your ready to walk baby in tow and go help put in class with first graders? I feel she did that to offset the new baby issues older kids sometimes have.

Listen- I dont know is her moral compass is pointing the right way. Not my call.
However, from the evidence I have seen or that I am aware of, I did not see anything that point s to a cunning psychopath.

Afterthought: While losing my baby weight, I tried my best to stay out of pics that would hilight it if possible and focus on the babies until I felt a little better about myself. fwiw.

  24. Donna B says:

Hi all, Blink your intuition and insite is greatly appreciated. I too am having a hard time wrapping myself around the step mom being guilty. I too wonder of an affair. We know she was there on Friday, the conflicting rumors do not help narrow down the timeframe. The PTA president claims to have arrived around 8:15 a.m. she claims to have seen the step mom and Kyron around that timeframe. The parents had from 8 to 8:45 to wander around with their kids before they had to get into chaperoned groups. Good point about his backpack and coat not being on desk because project was on desk. Were the projects left on their desks all day are moved to back of class eventually?Did Kyron ever make it to a group to tour with classmates? LE should know that by now. One of the chaperones would have come forward. As far as the substitute, maybe an assistant or sub parent is who Tanner was referring to, just a thought. The regular subs pay would reveal if she was there or not. Blink I wonder if you have any perspective on the gym and the alleged appt. is that fact or rumor? What time did the gym incident occur. I am thinking we have approx. a twenty min. window here sometime between 8:25 and 8:45. I read (not sure if it a rumor) that Kaine works from home on Fridays, that could be verified as well. Keep up the great work!!

  25. Twinkletoes says:

Here I go serially posting again! Argh, this is the last one, I promise, at least until I get some work done. I thought the lead regarding Terri following cases like this was a curious one. Is the logical flow that a person who follows cases like this is more likely to commit a similar crime OR is the logical flow that a person who follows cases like this is more likely to have a more sophisticated plan. :O) I would agree with the latter, but not the former. I think people like us who follow these stories have enormous hearts that break several times a day and we just can’t help but hope and think and pray for a positive outcome or at least a just outcome. Following these stories helps us to feel like we have some power in stopping the evil in the world. But I have to admit that if any one of us who has spent a significant amount of time following crime blogs (especially one as sophisticated as this one) were to commit a crime like those we read about, it would be a better than average plan. That said, the plan that is being attributed to Terri is sub par at best.

    Thoughts on the teacher…

The fact that Tanner calls the person in the classroom beside the teacher a “substitute” (When there was no substitute) means nothing. My daughter is this same agen and any adult in the classroom in a place of authority is considered a “substitute”. He even mentions that she leaves so obviously she wasn’t a “substitute” teacher just helping out with kids in some fashion through the chaos that comes with any change in the normal schedule.

According to Tanner, the “substitute” noticed Kyron was missing and sounded the alarm. Mrs. Porter said told her to relax that he was probably in the bathroom, implying she must have been pretty worried. Why wouldn’t Mrs. Porter have said “No, his SM told me he had an appointment” at that time??? Can’t see a reason for Tanner to lie about this. Could the teacher have “conveniently” mixed up the message that Terri gave her after realizing at 4pm that she’d let a kid go missing all day??? The teacher had to be aware of the liabilty of this to her career. Is the teacher involved???

If Terri was in fact clear that the doctor appt was for the following Friday then the theory that she’s involved AT ALL can be thrown out the window because you’d never take the chance that the school would call within the first hour and sound the alarm as should have happened.

Just a thought about the brother James. Perhaps he WAS sent away due to inappropriate contact with Kyron or the baby (By the way, she is 2.5 years old if Bdate is Dec 2008 so not so young that preschool would be out of the question). I am a firm believer that kids this young do not act out in such a manner without having had something done to them. We already know that there is a connection to a sex offender through the uncle. Assume that James WAS abused. Assume that James then abused either Kyron or the baby and is sent away due to this. Would not the original offender have a HUGE incentive to “get rid” of Kyron?? If that’s the case, and Terri knows it, it would explain A LOT of her guilty actions (Overly physical consoling of the bio mom etc). She would no doubt feel doubly responsible (For the abuse from James and for the ultimate outcome for Kyron).

  27. mag603 says:

If Grandma Fuhrer thought the Pumala’s had something to do with Kyron’s disappearance — may be she felt it was her duty to speak out despite the advice of LE.

I just hope and pray for some sort of miracle in the case.

Blink, you and your team are nothing short of amazing!!

Kudos to you Blink and your dedicated staff.

I can only comment on my ‘first impressions’, as this all takes some deep thinking.
I think BD is odd, maybe the engineer in him. Either way, he was trying to lay the foundation of who what where in his email. Who is Becky?

I can’t get the video to play right now with Tanner. His statements as reported by GMA seem to be coupled from different conversations, is she just talking out of her butt or was that purposely stated? I am suprised she wasn’t polygraphed. Eitherway, Grandma needs to learn to follow directions. Is GMA the father’s mother?
So if we still go with Terry’s cell phone on SI, while looking at Tanner’s family over there, why would Terry be involved with them? Lover idea cannot be excluded yet I don’t think.
They do appear to have a white truck, but it doesn’t appear to be the same style, and yet they are putting hers out to the media. ?

Lastly, Terry seems to be a big fan of suing the media for slander. I must have missed the uncalled for reporting on Cynthia Sommers, I guess its about the breast implants?

In regards to the frog project, obviously, the step mom took a photo of the other childs frog project as if to say “my kids project is better than your kids project”. It appears to be a picture of the other child but in reality, that photo is of the other childs project. Who is the parent of that child that worked on the other tree frog project? And, what is the relationship with the steps Moms ex, the one who has the wife who is working with the son (James) with the horseshow. This step mom is very competetive in many areas of her life.

  31. Midwest Mom says:

Blink, WOW! You did a very good job at putting this together.

Priority # 4 “Could they be hoping for someone to make contact with her” I believe this is what the trip to the gym was about as advised by LE and the public statement on Facebook.

Question: do we know if there is a grandpa Fuhrer? who was possibly at the exhibit to see Tanners project?

Kyron and tanner being friends and neighbors, it would not be a leap to say the parents are friends also.

And the barn…in between the the camper and the truck…is a yes to my original flash. just keeping you updated and hoping I’m not going bonkers :)

  32. Mel says:

Didnt Tanner say he heard Kyron say he was going down to see the really cool electricity project? Tanners dad is an electrician apprentice?

  33. LPB says:

After reading all of the comments about where, how, when, and who saw SM and Ky at school, I think we are missing something obvious. All of the people who saw SM and Ky at school and can corroborate the approximate times and are pretty reliable. Therefore, I think poor Ky had some understanding with someone (SM, friend, relative) that after the science fair project he was going to leave the school. I’m not saying it could have only been SM, but any other friend or relative. Or the poor sweet boy could have wandered off somewhere on his own after the fair.

    B,
Question: the SM pings? I read somewhere on here that she could have been at Sauvie around the time of 8:45 because of the ping. Is this true? (Lets not forget that someone else could have had her phone, ie she forgot it somewhere…just saying). I want to rule out this one possibility before my mind explodes!

    TY,
    LPB

  34. Kaylee says:

Well, after reading Terri’s post (if it is actually her), I can completely understand why she doesn’t want to talk to the media, especially Nancy Grace (feisty blond). “We all know that it is you all that twists people’s words to try and trip them up”.

And what about this, “any therapist will tell a grieving loved one to go out and do something for themselves”? Like go to the gym?

How interesting is it that we get to see her opinion on the two major aspects about which Terri has been criticized! Something persnickety on my part: As a reading tutor myself, all of her spelling errors stood out to me – especially since she considers herself to be a reading specialist.

Last thing, why would she misspell her own first name and then use her maiden name instead of married name?

  35. deek says:

Hi, I have never posted here before but I was searching the web looking for info on Kyron. I think every parent who has a child in school is frightened by what seem to be the facts of this case. A child arrives at school only to go missing a short time later. I just don’t know what to think whatever happened had to have happened fast and quiet. No one is alarmed that Kyrons backpack and jacket are at school but noone has seen him since early morning? Its just to weird and for some reason reminds me of Haleigh Cummings.
I don’t know if anyone else has mentioned this and you might think I am crazy but Kyron wearing a CSI shirt when he goes missing seems awfully strange and that makes me think of Caylee Anthony and her “Big Trouble” shirt that was found with her. I do get that maybe the CSI shirt was because of the science fair but when you stop and think about CSI…Could this be one of those subconcious “tells” the psychiatrists talk about?

Wonder if there is a dumpster near those houseboats off Mill Road and where they are taken – landfill or transfer station?

  37. D.A. says:

Earlier on in this case, the info that LE had been receiving was allowed by them to be reported by media, if not directly from LE themselves. We have read that they questioned adults and children at the school, and have read what those adults and children have said.

An adult had seen Kyron at 8:15 when she arrived, two teachers had seen Kyron in the hallway that morning, someone had seen him around 9:00 am, a student had talked with him – after the touring of the exhibits and just prior to classes beginning – when Kyron had said he would be right back, his classmate noticed after class began that Kyron wasn’t in his seat. From reading all that it seems to me that it was a student who ‘last saw’ Kyron.

All this prior to Tanner having made his public statement (with his grandmother’s approval), even though LE had asked them not to speak with the media. LE then seems to backpedal on all the info they had allowed the public to know about who saw Kyron that morning, because they then began to focus back on Terri as having been ‘the last to see’ Kyron that morning.

What about what the student said, that he saw and spoke with Kyron, just prior to class beginning? Is LE doubting what he says? Are they angry with the student for speaking publically about that, and in return going to dismiss what he says and get the public to re-focus back on Terri? It’s as if LE is discounting everything anyone says about seeing Kyron after 8:45 am. And I do have to wonder why.

  38. lily says:

The one thing about Terri not being seen in the pics – in many families one parent or the other is generally the ‘picture taker’ and isn’t in nearly as many photos as the other parent. Plus with Terri being at home – she is definitely going to be the one taking pictures and not in the pictures.

I will also say, with a new baby (their first and only daughter) – I think it’s probably just natural that there are more pictures of Terri with the baby. There are way more pics of all of the kids on Terri’s FB than I have of all of my kids on my FB. And I’ve found that people don’t post EVERY picture they take on FB – just a few so there are probably tons of pictures that they have that have not been put out on public display.

This is just my opinion – I think the speculation about the picture of Kyron in front of his exhibit being photoshopped are just not accurate. Every single indication is that Terri was there, with Kyron, taking pictures of him, and another classmate the morning of the 4th. I also tend to think that the dad’s memo to all of his co-workers with the ‘we’ reference indicated that instead of him actually being there (home) that the plan everyday for delivery and pickup of kids was decided as a family and that they were united in what their family plan was and when something went wrong. So therefore ‘we’ did this and ‘we’ did that instead of singling Terri out as ‘she’. That would seem unnecessarily accusatory – and some people would have picked up on that. Sometimes in these cases – the family can’t win no matter what they do or say until there is an arrest. Things that were perfectly normal and innocent in other circumstances, become twisted and bent under the harsh light of public scrutiny.

  39. Bearlyhere says:

If someone did ‘borrow’ the white truck and Terri left her cell phone in it, wouldn’t the pings be with the truck?

Seeing the picture you have of Terri in the classroom and then comparing it to the pictures of Terri in the news conferences, she appears to be in shock. It is clearer when comparing her normal self to the pale-faced woman I see in the conferences, she is very upset.

Nice to have a glimpse into the mind of the Blink team. Thank you!

  40. sage101 says:

Sorry- before I forget, if this hasn’t already been addressed – I believe the email forward that stated “in partnership” is talking about the police that work “in partnership” with the school and the sentence was written poorly.

I know plenty of schools that have police officers working for them directly.

    Blinkkkkk
    amazing article!!!!! wow!!!

  41. Midwest Mom says:

Who was sitting kyrons little sis? Possibly someone on suavie island? Would make sense for terri’s cell pings.

That would mean several people could know that terri would be leaving the school at a certain time to pick up sis.

“Why don’t I watch the little one while you taKe kyron to school and come pick her up after but I have to leave for an appt at 9:30 so you’ll have make sure you leave the school 8:55 at the latest?”

Diversion and a sense of urgency to an unsuspecting mother?? Hummm

SM could have mentioned to anyone what her schedule in the am would be ” so and so is going to watch sis so I can be there to support kyron and not have sis grabbing and touching everyone projects they worked so hard for.

I never have suspected SM. 7 year old boy insert there independence and not be walk to class by mom. And SM knew the school and teachers! it would be a safe zone. there would be zero reason to suspect kyron wouldn’t be safe at school.

Neither would I for that matter until the disappearance of kyron. It is all so sad. I’m praying for kyrons safe return and whoever is responsible be found and held accountable

  42. sage101 says:

I looked through photos that were released via internet of the Horman family and I have to say, Terri seemed to be a loving mom with multiple photos of Kyron and the two other children.

I refuse to pass judgement until I learn more about this case because hate to say it but I have seen plenty of other cases where the mother, bio or not, has had lots of loving photos of their child – and they murdered them… (ie; casey anthony)

If, and I hope, Terri is not guilty of anything other than lying about where she was at, fine but you would think she would be more honest when it possibly could come to saving Kyron’s life.

I read somewhere, (this may have been brought up) – that Terri received a DUI in 2005 while driving with her son, who was 11 at the time. To me, and everyone makes mistakes, but that is not the “loving” mom type.

What’s the point of doing a head-count if you’re going to blow it off when you come up one short? When I used to have birthdays for my kids at places like roller rink, etc. I counted heads so much I did it later in my sleep.

  44. Ode says:

Very strange blog entry by SM. As mentioned earlier many of us are here blogging and following various cases as it appears she does. The big difference is we are acting as a voice for the victim and she seems to want to be a voice for the accused. Her rational is to sue for millions. I think that points to a state of mind that could in turn point to motive. Set yourself up as a suspect have someone else commit the crime, wait for someone to slip up in accusing you and sue for millions.

  45. D.A. says:

To my knowledge, LE has only said that they brought the dogs in, and nothing was found. I haven’t read if they have elaborated on that or not.

There are specifics it would be nice to know. Such as: How many dogs did LE use, one or more? What kind of dogs did LE use, tracking/cadaver dogs or both types? Since LE says the dogs found nothing, how did they take the dogs through the school grounds, seperately or all at the same time? (ie: When one dog found nothing did they bring in another through the same area who also found nothing?) Did the dogs ever catch Kyron’s scent from parking lot INTO the school, from the school OUT any door?

We know that Kyron was at that school as recently (supposedly) as that morning. It seems the dogs would have caught SOME scent of him, somewhere, inside the school. It seems to me that IF Kyron had walked out of that school, as recently as that morning, SOME trace of him would have been caught.

I would have thought the freshest scent of Kyron would have been found inside the school near his sci project. And then maybe a trail heading toward his classroom, maybe then heading outside into one of the parking areas. A trail inside the school leading to somewhere then stopping, could indicate he left the school in a container of some kind, taken by someone else.

(A dog tracked Laci Peterson’s body down the street, down the freeway, all the way to the water. Even if Kyron had been placed into a container, a dog could still have tracked him).

It’s just hard to believe LE when they report that “nothing was found”. I can understand one dog not catching a scent of Kyron, maybe the dog was having a bad day, was overwhelmed by too many scents, whatever. But two or more dogs finding no trace of him, inside or out? No, that’s hard to believe.

  47. Daisy says:

LPB- you make a good point about someone else having her phone, BUT I would think that she did not leave it somewhere, more like someone stole it and then that person in question was able to put it back before she noticed? (I dont think this is the case, just according to your theory, that to me would seem more feesable)

Blink-Im floored by all the new info, and VERY confused…What I really dont understand is, why in all the inital reports was Kaine NOT mentioned about being at the bus stop with Terri? Why would this be omitted from all the previous reports? I find this to be very odd, not saying that they are involved in anyway, just that I find it off. Its such a simple detail, SEEMS like there would be no reason to NOT mention it. Unless LE deemed it necessary for some reason unbeknownst us??

Tanner I believe is telling the truth,(unless Kyron wandered off, then he knows more then he’s saying maybe it was HIS idea and then something happened to Kyron) I also think the “sub” could have been any adult, he assumed was a sub. And the teacher, Oh boy! how the hell did she not notice Kyron was missing? I am not buying the fact she thought he was at a doctors appt, I mean common sense would tell me(if I were the teacher) oh, kyron left all his stuff, he must be coming BACK! and when he doesnt return by lets say 1 o’clcok, I would at least contact the mother to let her know that her sons things were still in class(I would assume terri forgot)-BUT THEN AGAIN NOT EVERYONE HAS COMMON SENSE! and it was a busy day, and she could have just been so wrapped up in all the other students.

I also want to comment on the second polygraph, I feel that maybe the first one was tainted because of her extreme stress, this would cause the need for another test, just like when someone is interrogated(think Riley fox case) LE should not have given a polygraph test right after. Maybe thats why they wanted to give her another?? I have much more to say on this, but its time I actually do some work! but just wanted to throw my 2cents in there!

BTW- Great job, to you and your team!

  48. D.A. says:

I agree mommystop. Young children could use the word “sub” (substitute) in referring to any adult helping out that day. Could have been a teacher’s aide, a parent who had helped out as a teacher’s aide before, or even someone who been an actual substitute teacher before. I don’t think his using the word ‘sub’ indicates in any way that the rest of what he said isn’t true, and am astonished that people would even think that.

  49. mag603 says:

I agree with Lily about the pix. More of the little girl vs Kyron.

I have a super cute 7 year old nephew … and he is either running from the camera refusing to sit for photos; or he is make funny faces. Last time I saw him, he actually told me I could take his picture if I paid him a dollar. Plus with Kyron gone at school during the day…there are more opportunities to take pix of the little girl.
