On what is Kyron Horman’s 8th Birthday, the Skyline School, where Kyron was scheduled to begin the third grade, is buzzing with the start of the years activities without him.

< ?xml:namespace prefix ="" o />

In response to the disappearance and presumed abduction of the bespectacled herpetologist; Skyline has implemented a myriad of mandatory safety features as well as a state of the art security camera system. While complete with facial recognition capability, one face it will not be recognizing today, is that of Kyron Horman.

Although missing since the morning of June 4, 2010, there have been no updates from the many State and Federal agencies participating in the criminal investigation of his disappearance since August 12, 2010.

Adding to the mounting concern about the status of Kyron’s fate are the words of his own parents, Kaine Horman and Desiree Young.

“The police will not stop until they find Kyron and the harder they have to search–the harder this will get for you,” wrote Young. “You will go to jail and whoever has been helping you will have to talk police or they will go to jail.”

It is clear from Kaine and Desiree’s comments that they believe Terri Horman, Kyron’s step mom, is at least partially responsible for Kyron vanishing. While they stop short of naming any possible accomplices, Rod Underhill, the chief deputy district attorney of Multnomah County, Captain Jason Gates, Detective Bob O’Donnell of the Multnomah County Sheriff Office have sought the publics help to flush them out. Multnomah County Chief Deputy District Attorney Rod Underhill said a witness, or witnesses, have reported seeing someone else by the Hormans’ extended-cab pickup while it was parked in front of the school between 8:15 a.m. and 8:45 a.m. on June 4, the day Kyron disappeared. In what was characterized as a slip-up, methinks that that Kyron’s Mom told us that someone was actually Kyron.

KaineTruck

While Terri Horman is holed up at her parents newly refinanced home in Roseburg and under the mortgage-sized retainer protection of Stephen Houze; she is awaiting the September 21st contempt hearing  for allegedly violating an order that she not disclose the “sealed” reasoning for, or contents of,  the current restraining order in effect against her.

Accomplice, Witness, Opportunist or Collateral Damage?

Rodolfo “Rudy” Estrada Sanchez

Sanchez 1

 Rudy is the owner of RS Landscape Maintenance and the alleged former landscaper/ love interest of Terri Horman.  He is also the man who says Terri Horman asked him to murder her husband Kaine late last year. Investigators clearly believed his story as it was the basis for an attempted sting on June 26th by MCSO including an undercover DEA agent. Sanchez, wearing a wire, demanded a $10,000 payment from Horman for services rendered, except Kaine was very much alive. As the information gleaned from Sanchez provided to Kaine Horman indicates this alleged “contract”discussion with his wife happened over 7 months ago, it is unclear what the payment demand could actually be for. Sanchez testified before the grand jury on August 4. While the content of his testimony is secret, the fact that whatever he testified to outside of pleading the “On the advice of counsel I plead the 5th and hereby assert all of it’s protections.” grants him a level of immunity, in addition to whatever he may or may not have already been granted by the District Attorney.

When reached at one of the numbers records show is billed in his brothers name, Jaime Estrada Sanchez, who uses the name Jaime Estrada on his carpet cleaning business website declined to comment to blinkoncrime.com and the number has since been disconnected.

Speaking on the condition of anonymity, a close family friend who has since been interviewed by the FBI, has confirmed that Terri Horman is pointing her finger directly at Sanchez. She has also stated that she and Sanchez had an altercation after she attempted to end their relationship in May which ended in a 911 call and a visit from Clackamas County Sheriff Office in the presence of Sanchez’s wife and children. While it did not result in any charges, Horman told the source that the landscaper was furious with her because he is not in the US legally. While blinkoncrime.com has not been able to verify the date of the alleged 911 call, we have been able to verify that Terri called her Mother immediately following the incident and told her that Kaine had found out about the landscaper she hired to do what she referred to as “her yardwork” and when she informed him that she could no longer use him because Kaine was making her fire him, he lunged at her with Kiara in her arms. Kaine Horman denies the couple ever hired the landscaper as well as any previous information as to his estranged wife’s possible dealings with Sanchez.

It should be noted that Mr. Sanchez has not been charged with any crime in this matter and local references to his business are highly complimentary. In fact, Jean Ann Van Krevelen a friend and “mentor” of Dede Spicher has used RS Landscape Maintenance on a few occasions, leaving positive reviews on the ServiceMaster listing which deleted his business from the site on 6/21/10.  Heather Walters, owner of Rosemont Farm,which is not West Wind Farm, where Dede Spicher was working the morning of June 4th and out of reach by phone from approximately 90 minutes, has never met Terri Horman or heard of their family prior to Kyron’s disappearance. When I asked her if she knew Rudy Sanchez or if she ever hired his firm to work at WWF, she replied “not that I recall, no, but we did have a blackberry clean up a few years ago so it is possible.”

Anselmo Sanchez-Sanchez

Anselmoor

 As reported on blinkoncrime.com, Anselmo was booked into the MCSO on July 8, 2010 on a hold from the US Marshall Service. He was held until August () and returned to Federal custody in Sheridan. While residence records and a private post to blinkoncrime.com indicate the Sanchez’s know each other, at a minimum, it is unknown if Anselmo has any direct connection to this case. What is known, is that Anselmo Sanchez a/k/a Freddy Atristad Sanchez has been in Federal Custody since March 4, 2010.

 Or has he?

Although records indicate that he was placed under post probation supervision by ICE on February 19, 2010, according to Mr. Sanchez-Sanchez Federal criminal docket after being “found in the US and apprehended” in  August 2009” following a previous deportation in 2003, he was “administratively arrested” on February 23, 2010. A Federal Grand Jury’s subsequent indictment was issued on March 4 and he was immediately incarcerated.

Mr. Sanchez-Sanchez rap sheet includes convictions for rape, failure to register as a sex offender and a host of probation and parole violations prior to his deportation.

In what can only be categorized as a bizarre coincidence, Oregon BOP VINE network shows that on June 26, 2010, they very day of the “sting” involving Rudy Sanchez, Anselmo was transferred and released to “community supervision”.  There is no record of either his transfer or his booking by MCSO July 8th on his docket. What is reflected on the record for June 21st, is the US Marshall Service requested a rescheduling of his plea hearing on July 1st   - July 12th directly with the presiding judge outside of his Federal appointed defense attorney.  Yep. Exparte.  Mr. Sanchez attorney Allison Clark used the 7/12/10 court date to file a motion to quit the case.  They have subsequently worked through their differences and were scheduled to appear yesterday, but a 4th continuance in the case was granted to reschedule for October 7, 2010. In that motion, Ms. Clark asserts that Mr. Sanchez has been in custody the entire time but that his records are difficult to retrieve so more time to prepare for trial is necessary.  I’ll say.

Dede Spicher

Dede

Doppelganger. Organic Gardner. Jilted girlfriend and support network for Terri Horman.

Up until a few weeks ago, she was also very much the object of accusation by Desiree Young and Kaine Horman, as well as the investigators assigned to Kyron’s case. So much so, they released a flyer featuring the ginger ladies and the infamous white truck. LE has subsequently backed off of Spicher and publicly stated they do not believe it was her in the white truck in the lot of the Skyline School. Dede’s father is a semi-retired Klamath County Sheriff deputy. If it can be confirmed Spicher knew Kyron was missing on June 4th we have a very big problem.

Blinkoncrime.com is in receipt of a private post through a mutual friend of Dede’s in response to an article about Kyron’s disappearance from the school which was post on June 4th at 11:40PM

Spicher responded on June 5 at 7:44am: Holy Crap! I KNOW this boy!

Mutual Friend, June 5, 1:35PM: no way???!!! Really Dede?

Spicher: yes. My friend Terri is the step-mother mentioned in the article. It’s so shocking when something like this hits so close to home. < ?xml:namespace prefix ="" v />June 5 at 5:44pm

Michael Cook

MichaelCook

The source of both information for the contempt filing and hundreds of sexts exchanged between he and Terri Horman following Kaine Horman’s filing for divorce and leaving the marital residence as advised by MCSO, Michael Cook was a high school classmate of Kaine Horman.

Mr. Cook is also one smarmy dude if his former spouse Shannon has anything to say about it.

Oddly, blinkoncrime.com has learned from an inside source that Cook was not called before the grand jury to testify. In the instant action for contempt, Kaine Horman’s attorney Laura Rackner specifically references the “sexting” and the text regarding Houze’s fee as information provided by law enforcement.

So, was he acting as an agent for le or is he himself under investigation?

Jason Wishert

Jasonwishert

William Jason Wishert is undoubtedly wishing he had not interjected himself in this case. Apparently new to the blogosphere via a request from Maxine Bernstein of the Oregonian, Mr. Wishert took to what he saw as his *nuveau*cause*celeb* status with moxy.

That was until he announced his appearance on the scaredmonkeys.net forum to answer questions about the case and cry the blues when he accused the Oregonian of using his rough notes to skewer Dede Spicher.  According to Wishert the “not a lot of kissing but plenty of telling” memo was not supposed to be published.  About 3 minutes into his introduction to his “sleuthing public” Wishert was asked why he spelled his name incorrectly and if he was indeed the son of convicted child porn possessor William Kent Wishart.  In a really bad move, Mr. Wishert denied the allegation and retreated with his tail somewhere on his person.

Kent Wishart, former CEO of Graphic Sciences, is in Federal Custody for the next 4 years for possession of child porn and engaging in a file sharing subscription for same. Jason’s brother Grant is an employee of GS.  All three Wishert’s hold numerous active and inactive business licenses throughout Oregon and Washington.  Graphic Sciences has a Mexican affiliate office.

Both Jason and his brother James Grant have had numerous legal entanglements (editor’s note: say it just like Chief Margie with the flat “a”) and our attempts to substantiate Jason’s claims about court appointed child advocacy certifications have yet to be confirmed.

However, with his Uncle John Kerr, Jason Wishert is heavily involved in the Friends of Pimpollo Charity which sponsors various children issues and an orphanage in Mexico.  FOP is a verified charity with a 50% tax deduction rate according to IRS Publication 78 in good standing, but they are years behind in their annual reporting.

Birthday Boy and America’s Frog Prince

Today, Kyron Horman’s eigth birthday, may not bring us any closer to where our frog prince is, but we do wish to extend our thoughts and prayers in celebration of his special day to his parents, friends and family. There are 2 celebrations for Kyron today. The picture below is an image of the birthday invitation chosen by his Mom, Desiree Young, and designed by scaredmonkeys poster Brandi.

    @Puzzled and others: the link that I found, so far, between Elsy Mejia and the Sanchez group is that she is listed in the white pages as living with Ubaldo.

    745 NE 162nd Ave
    Portland, OR 97230-5749
    Household: Mejia Elsie,

    Ubaldo is listed at the Highway 99 address for the business(es) along with Maria G Sanchez. Unfortunately it gets confusing when additional names are thrown into the mix such as Ubaldo going as Fernandez or Fernand, or using B as a middle initial and I think there is an R middle initial with one of them as well. I have not figured out who is who yet.

    Blink – I really appreciate this comment. I spent one evening just copying notes into Word from comments when this new thread started that I knew had already been done, answered, laid to rest, or whatever. My intention was to go back and find the links and answer them. I probably had 7 or 8 of them.

    Then I woke up the next morning and thought – why should I do that? It would only take someone the effort of going back to previous stories and reading what’s there. I do it for myself to double check something or to see a previous comment in the light of new information. Why should I do it for someone else who can do the same thing. So I didn’t – but I felt a little guilty.

    I feel better now.

    Midwest Mom 09/15 @2:43 I agree and interesting about the dates of the warrant and reward money. HORMAN and SANCHEZ names are linked in more ways than one and what are the odds that both families have the only missing children, besides runaways, just seventeen days apart. Coincidence, maybe, but if it is a coincidence, it’s a huge coincidence.

    I am trying to find a yellow page for Sanchez nursery. I cant seem to find one.

    Even tho in the state they are listed as a licensed nursery.
    ———————————————————

    Hi Rich. Not all nurserys sell retail. Many sell wholesale only; to the trade only; thus may not appear in local Yellow Pages. These nurserys are more precisely called growers and do not grow their stock to maturity.

    Here’s a test case if you’re interested. Terra Nova Nursery is in Canby OR (with facilities in other nearby towns). They are legit, I know their label as some of their product is sold in nurserys here on the East Coast. They might not be in the local yellow pages.

    Regarding MSCO and statement from Dan Staton. It was difficult to hear the questions from reporters so I’ll comment to what he said during the end. He was asked by a reporter if we will be shocked as to the outcome of the investigation. He paused for several seconds and choked up and said there will be “suprises” and what they do know, they wish they didn’t know.
    He stated the investigation was on track but did not give any timeline for resolution.

    I’m taking out all links to see if that helps.
    Her post:
    I am not as technologically savvy as most who post here, so I do not know how to post a “link.” However, if you are familiar with the Blink on Crime website, there have been several heavy discussions on there over the last week or so regarding a 911 call that came from the Horman house the weekend of Mother’s Day because a landscaper who Terri was in the process of firing (apparently at Kaine’s request) “lunged” at Terri while she had Kiara in her arms.

    The author of the website, “Blink,” claims to have an “inside source” who has confirmed this information. So take it for what it’s worth.
    However, it would seem that a 911 call could be confirmed easily enough for the date and location. So, if the call did occur, and for the reason stated, it’s quite possible the rest of the story falls into place as well.

    Not to trivialize the underlying issue, but your question is almost akin to asking for the 30 second “Jaws in 30 Seconds as Told by Bunnies” version of events:
    http://www.angryalien.com/0804/jawsbunnies.asp

    Angryalien.com also has Gone with the Wind in 30 Seconds as Told by Bunnies, as well as Titanic in 30 Seconds as Told by Bunnies.

    Here’s my 30-second take on this case:

    7-year-old boy who is an amateur herpetologist (student of reptiles and amphibians) disappears on June 4. The child is Kyron Horman, who was only discovered missing after he failed to return home on the school bus.

    We later learn that Kyron’s backpack and coat were at the school all day long, yet the only person to notice he was gone was his desk mate Tanner Pumala. The teacher’s defense is that the child’s stepmother (Terri Horman) said the child had a doctor’s appointment.

    The parents proceed immediately to the school to look for Kyron. After determining he is not there, the school calls law enforcement (LE).

    LE focuses immediately on mom, as she was the last person to see Kyron. Or so we’re told. Tanner Pumala and his grandmother — Terri Horman’s neighbor — take to the airwaves claiming the FBI is telling them not to talk to anyone about the fact that Tanner saw Kyron at school after Terri had left the building. Tanner reported that Kyron was going to see “the cool electric one,” which may have been a reference to a project at the science fair.

    Initial searches focus on the area around the school, a houseboat belonging to Tanner Pumala’s father, and the Holmes/Villarreal residence that is on the same street as the Horman residence. Nobody finds any sign of Kyron.

    Nine days after Kyron disappeared, Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office and several other agencies descend on Sauvie Island using helicopters equipped with special FLIR thermal imaging cameras. Divers are in the shallow waters around the island, assisting in the search for a large container, possibly a suitcase or duffel bag.

    Rumors abound that Terri Horman’s cell phone pings led searchers to the island.(NOTE: It is my understanding that the search was based on the river’s current and projected date upon which a body would reach Sauvie Island from Vancouver. This information has since been posted elsewhere.)

    As the investigation continues, the public questions whether a sex offender might have slipped into the school and taken Kyron. Perhaps by coincidence, Kyron’s brother James was supposedly headed out on a Boy Scout camping trip over the weekend that Kyron went missing. We later learn that James arrived at the Horman residence after Kyron’s disappearance, and that he was there the weekend of the supposed camping trip.

    We learn that that Boy Scouts USA is sitting on files containing the names of more than 1,000 pedophiles who were allowed to work in Scouting from 1965 to 1985. MCSO could easily get these names by issuing an investigative subpoena. To date, there has been no word that any such subpoena has ever been issued.

    We learn that one of the most prolific, predatory pedophiles in Oregon history was allowed to work with boys through Boy Scouts from the 1980s to 1994. We learn that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (AKA “The Mormons) knew that Timur Van Dykes (AKA Timur Dykes) had molested children yet allowed him to continue working with boys. How did the Boy Scouts and Mormon Church know that Timur Dykes had a problem? He admitted it.

    Worse, the only thing that brought Timur Dykes’ scouting career to an end was when he was pulled over by LE while on a scouting trip. LE discovered he was a registered sex offender and arrested him on the spot.

    We learn that Timur Dykes was a herpetologist who lured young boys like Kyron with his collection of pets.

    At the time of Kyron’s disappearance, Timur Dykes was homeless but using a relative’s address in Lake Oswego, then later still homeless but using an address in Portland.

    Timur Dykes has never been named as suspect in the Kyron Horman disappearance. The relevance of his case is that there are more than 1,000 other pedophiles who worked in Boy Scouts whose names have never been made public. Could one of pedophiles listed in the Boy Scout “perv files” have been involved in Kyron’s disappearance? We may never know, unless MCSO and the DA obtain a subpoena for that information.

    Sheriff to create new task force to refocus Kyron investigation

    By Steve Benham KATU.com Staff and Anita Kissée KATU News

    PORTLAND, Ore. – A new task force will be formed to focus the investigation into the disappearance of 8-year-old Kyron Horman to specific areas and better use police resources, Multnomah County Sheriff Dan Staton said Wednesday.

    Staton said during the afternoon news conference that while the investigation will be narrower, he said it is not scaling back, although he used similar language in his statement.

    “We threw everything we possibly could at this (at the beginning of the investigation) because it involved a school and it involved a child,” he said. “We’ve reached a point over the course of this investigation … the information we’ve gathered, resources we’ve dedicated to this, we started looking at every possibility – we’ve narrowed it down to a scope now that is more definitive; it is time to scale this down so that you have, what I would consider, a task force.”

    I had trouble with the live feed for the announcement about the task force but I was wondering if I heard this right. Did he say that the money that has been raised for Kyron via fun raisers has not been used yet and they are not sure if it’s going to be used for helping locate Kyron or go to the family for living expences? I’m not asking in order to “judge”…I just wanna know what I heard.

    Thoughts and prayers are with Kyron, his brothers and sister.

  18. newsatfive says:

    Part II:

    Kyron’s parents and their respective spouses (the step parents) appear at the June 11, 2010, press conference.

    Kyron’s mother Desiree Young is clearly despondent and sobbing. Her husband Tony Young appears more reserved but appears to be taking note of those around him.

    Kyron’s father Kaine Horman looks like he’s doing a slow burn. Kaine’s wife Terri Horman’s facial expressions throughout the press conference get panned as either someone trying to appear sad, or a childish expression of remorse.

    Over the next three weeks, we learn that the Horman family is hella weird. They’ve all been divorced and remarried, and appear to continue to socialize with each other, perhaps for the sake of the kids. Desiree objects to reports that Terri raised Kyron and knew him since he was a newborn, yet we later learn that she and Kaine got together when Kaine was still married to Desiree.

    Kaine has a brother Kristian Horman is convicted sex offender. He was convicted of third-degree child molestation in April 2010, but his sentencing occurred on June 16, 2010, right in the middle of the Kyron Horman investigation.

    When asked whether Kristian Horman had anything to do with Kyron’s disappearance, investigators working on the Kyron Horman case say that they are looking at all possibilities. The media reports that it was not clear whether Kristian was in Portland the day Kyron went missing. However, the Washington State court docket makes clear that June 16 was a pre-arranged date for sentencing.

    Court record revealed that Kristian Horman claimed he was molested by his grandfather, and that he was compelled by that memory when he molested his victim.

    Kaine Horman gives an interview to Willamette Week in which it is clear there is a lot of tension around the Horman household. Terri apparently wasn’t cooperating with LE, and she would not voluntarily turn over her laptop for inspection. Terri reportedly appeared for three polygraphs, including one test that never happened because Terri walked out.

    Kaine learns from LE that Terri allegedly tried to get a landscaper she hired off of Craigslist (Rudy Sanchez) to kill him. Kaine moves out and takes baby Kiara with him. Terri calls 911 to complain about custodial interference.

    Later that night, the landscaper shows up as part of an undercover sting to get Terri to pay up for the murder for hire. Terri balks and calls 911. Nobody is arrested.

    We later learn that Terri allegedly called LE on May 9 after the landscaper threatened her in her driveway. Terri was supposedly holding baby Kiara at the time.

    Kaine files for divorce, and gets a restraining order claiming he has reason to believe Terri was involved in Kyron’s disappearance. Kaine also claims that LE informed him that Terri was trying to hire someone to kill him.

    Terri retains attorney Stephen Houze to represent her. Kaine later claims in a contempt motion that Terri paid $350,000 to retain Houze, and offers a heavily redacted exhibit of alleged text messages as proof of this. IMHO, the redactions are such that it is impossible to tell to what the $335,000 refers.

    Two months later, Kaine drops the contempt but doesn’t given any reason for doing so. Is he broke? Is Terri suddenly cooperating? Or was the whole text message issue a setup? No word on any of it.

    We learn that Kaine’s high school classmate Michael Cook — who claims to be a close friend of the family — allegedly exchanged text messages of a sexual nature with Terri. The so-called “sexting” allegedly started the night Kaine served Terri with divorce papers.

    Michael Cook also apparently claims Terri showed him the sealed restraining order that included Kaine’s confidential address. MC shares this information with Kaine and his lawyer, yet he reportedly is never called before the grand jury.

    Despite the abundance of cooperation he received from MC in building his case for custody, Kaine Horman denies having seen MC except for a couple of times since high school. One of those times was when MC hosted the vigil for Kyron.

    A review of the video of the vigil shows a smirking MC walking in the front of the church, as others in attendance sob in concern for Kyron. Nobody at the vigil seems to notice MC’s odd behavior.

    We learn that Terri’s best friend DeDe Spicher has a creepy ex-boyfriend named Jason Wishert, whose real name is Jason Wishart. Jason’s dad is a convicted sex offender.

    Rumors abound as to whether Terri and Kaine are swingers, whether Terri and DeDe are gay, whether Kaine is gay, and whether Kaine has a pregnant girlfriend.

    More than one online blog has referenced the infamous Balloon Boy hoax. Unlike the Balloon Boy incident, Kyron remains missing more than three months after he disappeared.

    You almost need a Soap Opera Digest to track the current and former spouses, friends, and miscreants in these peoples lives.

    Despite all the rumors and innuendo, everyone seems to agree that Kyron is a very sweet and gentle child. IMHO, it would be impossible to produce a kid like that out of nowhere. The circumstances here may be unusual, but the product of their efforts — one great kid, if not more — speaks to their parenting. (James reportedly is doing well in school in Roseburg. I’m not sure if no response has any meaning or if hearsay is unreliable.
    I remember awhile back when Desiree and Kaine pleaded publicly for more information to the tip line, even slightest bits may help.
    With such a web unfolding, I also wonder if a “Jake” could be a “Jacobo.”
    Thank you for your good work.

    No.

    Before it goes off on too much of a tangent, Staton was speaking to a business club this morning, was asked about the Horman case and because he briefly answered and used the words ‘task force’, the reporter from the Tribune (cosponsor of the meeting) posted it on their website. The media went mad and ‘forced’ this PC. It was not the announcement Staton wanted to make, and it wasn’t at the time he wanted to make it.
    More information about who all is on the task force etc will be coming, but basically the reasons are that they have focused their investigations with laser precision now and don’t need to be spread far and wide. Also, by spreading the investigators over multiple local agencies, they will all be able to better budget. Staton’s the money boss, and he’s no fool. IMO there is no dirty dealing here, but we really do have the best of our local bunch on this case and they are being straight up. I can’t wait for them to be ready to talk to us.
    Thank you, to whoever it was here who posted the Trib story today!

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    No, in the press conference I heard, he used the words “to support” the family, which can have many different meanings. There are all kinds of ways that a sheriff’s dept. can monetarily “support” a family at various stages of this investigation/case.
  22. Barista says:
    Fairview? Troutdale?
  23. Emmy says:
    Something that I found interesting from the press conference were the LE agencies that Sheriff Staton mentioned that he hoped would assist in the task force. I know there are many LE agencies involved, but the three (besides FBI) that he singled out when asked were Troutdale, Fairview and the Port. This is the first mention I’ve seen of this part of the Portland area. For those that are not local, these two towns are located East/NE of Portland (still in Mult Cty. and often referred to as “east county”) All info posted on here so far related to LS (Woodburn, Canby, Wilsonville) has been centered more in areas South of Portland-not near Troutdale or Fairview at all.
    Curious as to what is going on out there in east county.
  24. WindowPane says:
    With the comments by the Sheriff today, I wonder if Kyron’s remains have been recovered in secret. Has there ever been a case where LE recovered a body without the press finding out about it? The comments and the fact the Port of Portland Police are involved in the new task force makes me wonder. Port of Portland would be the airport or marine terminals.
    After hitting submit on my last comment I realized that Fairview and Troutdale are part of “East Multnomah County Major Crimes Team.” Could just be that they assist each other in cases such as this.
  27. GraceintheHills says:
    Well, I had to go run to my DH (former prosecutor) and ask him what he thought of the formation of a Task Force. Is it a good sign? Is it bad? Are LE simply scaling back? DH said you normally start to scale back at a certain point in a lengthy investigation. This point usually comes after you have cleared many of your leads and your evidence is continuing to point in a certain direction. He said he thinks LE probably have a good idea which person(s) committed this crime based on circumstantial evidence collected, but just don’t have enough circumstantial evidence to successfully prosecute the case. Like Strunk said, they have no smoking gun. DH said the Task Force will work diligently to gather more evidence on the one(s) they feel are responsible for Ky’s disappearance, will continue to look at new leads, and consider new angles that may help them connect the dots.
    So, I have hope this case WILL be solved. But, I cannot say I will be surprised when the perps are identified. I have seen some heinous crimes committed by the most unlikely of suspects.
    Task Force, we have full faith in you. Bring Kyron home.
    Evie: I think you summarized the press conference quite succinctly.
    I had been thinking Sheriff Staton was a little bit “not ready for prime time” based on his early performance in this case (i.e. referring to Kyron Horman as “Kyron Holmes”), but he redeemed himself today, at least in my eyes.
    Not that feelings matter, but my sense of Staton is that he gets it. I mean he really, truly, deep down inside gets this case. There’s some kind of undercurrent that is just so evil that it threw law enforcement off its normal unflappable demeanor. Even the FBI agent’s first appearance was a bit off.
    I mistook the weirdness by what should have been competent professionals for the “amateur hour,” when really, this case seems to be people staring down absolute evil.
    To me, Staton seemed so young looking, and perhaps I mistook that in part for naivete. In reality, he’s not young, but he does have a “Gerber baby”-type face.
    IMHO, LE got some kind of signal very early on as to exactly what they were dealing with here. There must be a reason they said “sexually motivated crime.”
    I am so terribly sad for Kyron and his family. Please, G-d, let this little boy come home tonight.
    He said that they have not used those funds yet. That he would talk to the family about how the funds might be used in the investigation to be sure that their wishes are taken into account. And he said that they may be used to “support” the family.
    I though it sounded odd. Perhaps he was alluding to the possible use of some of the funds to support the work of the family as per their press conferences & public events designed to keep Kyron’s face in the public eye.
    I seriously wish we could confirm allegations…especially the one about the dr’s appt. To me, that is the MOST convincing evidence of foul play on Terri’s part. I feel it’s possible she could have poor judgement and an overactice labido in the choices she made with Cook and the sexting and still be innocent of the abduction of Kyron. If we knew for sure she had NOT made a dr’s appt prior to Kyron’s disappearance it would be SO Very TELLING. Without that, I have to wonder more about “payback from the LS”….if in fact, his own children were “missing” as a result of his wife finding out about an illicit affair with Terri, I see motive for him “paying her back”. I wonder if he threatened her with this and maybe she traded Kyron for Kiara???? … or maybe he did this as revenge, kid for kids, without her knowledge at all. I want to believe she played a part, because it gives me hope he is stashed rather than buried, but its all so confusing with so many questions unanswered. Have the Blink-lets confirmed the “missing children” are in fact Rudy’s children? If so, that is a huge “motive” to me. I also want to know if anyone here knows when Terri began pointing a finger towards the LS? Was it before or after the “sting”?
    Thanks for everyone’s commitment to praying for dear Kyron continuously.
    @annals & RichM – we have growers here who sell wholesale and also do some landscaping and maintenance work under the “grower umbrella” who also DO NOT advertise in yellow pages so they don’t deter their regular buyers (Licensed/Advertising Landscapers) for “comepetitive reasons”. However, they do perform the work of their customers, just don’t advertise it. Maybe this is the case here, there biggest income stream is from growing…however, they do the full service by word of mouth only. Just a thought since I know for sure it is done in my neck of the woods.
I’m not asking in order to “judge”…I just wanna know what I heard.
    I believe he was trying to say that they wanted to consult with the family about how to use the money given to LE and also be responsible to the public who wanted the money to go directly to the investigation. Money he counts toward the investigation from his budget includes things like salaries/overtime of people dedicated to that task, for example, but they would get those salaries anyway if they were working on other cases. He seems very sensitive to the criticism of how LE has done its job, and really does care deeply about this case.
    I thought he did an excellent job with the questions considering he let a cat out of the bag this morning and didn’t have time to prepare what NOT to say.
  34. MockingbirdSings says:
    I, too, watched the press conference today. The question was asked about which agencies might be a part of the 8 or 10 on the Task Force. The sheriff said he hadn’t prepared the information yet and the details had not been worked out, but he expected to include MCSO, Portland Police, FBI, Fairview Police, Port of Portland Police, and Troutdale Police. Someone asked if there would be a Southern Oregon component to the Task Force and he said “yes”.
    He also said there wouldn’t have been a press conference yet if he hadn’t said “Task Force” at a morning meeting and felt he had to follow up. I know he regretted that it came out before he had been able to tell the family.
    I was surprised the sheriff mentioned Fairview and Troutdale which are a long way from the Horman house. Most of the reports about searches and events have been in a totally different part of the metropolitan area. He said they wanted to continue with people who had been involved with the investigation from the beginning and not add anyone new.
    Earlier in the investigation, I was thinking of the Port of Portland Police involvement as tracking “water routes, boats, shipping and ships”, but I am now thinking of small planes since there is an airport in Troutdale, and another in Hillsboro (just to the south of Beaverton). Fairview (the city) is close to Troutdale. The Port of Portland manages the Hillsboro and Troutdale airports which have a lot of private plane traffic. Mulino Airport, also on the Port’s website, is about 20 miles south of Portland. There are many more small airports in Oregon as well as the Medford area, Eugene, and Bend airports. (Security is supposed to be stricter at small airports since there was talk a few years ago about terrorists possibly wanting to use small planes, but someone who is a regular tenant/user there probably would not have any problem coming and going.)
    http://www.portofportland.com/POP_Home.aspx?ep=7d2acf4cd5204a27a999e9dc869f9555
    Fairview is a little over 3 square miles, and has about 13 or 14 police officers.
    Troutdale is about 5 square miles and has 24 police officers. To me, that’s a rather small area to contribute 2 people to the Task Force unless there is something very specific to deal with there. Milwaukie is 5 square miles and we have more (and really great) police officers than either of those cities, so it isn’t just a matter of spreading the cost around where a detective is available to participate.
    http://www.ci.troutdale.or.us/police/
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Troutdale,_Oregon (quote below)
    The Troutdale Airport serves as a base for scenic aerial tours of the Columbia River Gorge. In addition to the Gorge, the town is home to over a dozen parks. It is also the location of one of the most notable locations of the local McMenamins chain, the 38 acre Edgefield.
    Troutdale also has a variety of factory outlet stores, a historic downtown district, and an expansive truck stop row all within walking distance of each other. The presence of truck stops makes traveler information available almost 24 hours a day on C B Channel 19.
    ———————–
    There is a lot of meth around Clackamas County and east Multnomah County (Gresham, Troutdale, Fairview areas) including the gang related transport of drugs and crime that go with that. When Oregon restricted access to OTC meth ingredients a few years ago, it greatly reduced the number of meth houses, but purer meth from Mexico quickly filled the gap in the market. It isn’t as obvious as a house blowing up every few weeks or so, but the results are there. I’m sure meth is not the only drug being transported.
    There are many isolated places in eastern Oregon and beyond, and in Northern California. If Kyron were transported somewhere else, it certainly would not have to be out of the US. The choices for heading away from Portland include but are not limited to:
    - car in any direction, truck in any direction – but both would be inspected for prohibited plants and fruits at the border of California and by customs in Canada.
    - small airplane – I believe small planes are encouraged to file a flight plan, but may not always have to.
    - train and bus – highly unlikely, too visible
    - private boat to many possible places between Portland and the coast or going east upriver, depending on the size and type of boat
    - container ship – if there is a way around inspections (I’m sure there is)
    - combination – car to small plane to car or truck, for example, to get across state lines or past check points
    The sheriff said all resources would still be available if needed, but they will target certain leads they have now using the appropriate agencies. The final list of who’s on this Task Force will have a lot of people speculating on what that means in regard to the target(s) of the investigation.
I would already be in jail or something for harming TH or anyone I could get my hands on for info about where my son was and what happened to him.
    I really can’t imagine a greater pain. I hope this horrid nightmare is over for Kyron’s family soon. I pray for all the LE folks to get that final piece they need and end this. and, most of all, I pray for Kyron.
    Kaine dropped the contempt charges before leaving. Cook?
    “He emphasized that they were not scaling back or moving to a cold-case type investigation. The FBI would remain active, along with Port of Portland Police, Portland Police, Fairview and Troutdale departments. Staton added that Multnomah County would play about a 30 percent role.”
    http://www.kgw.com/news/Sheriff-No-evidence-Kyron-Horman-is-not-alive-103003704.html
    Sheriff Staton listed the Port of Portland Police right after the FBI. Are they afraid Kyron was transported by airplane from PDX?
    “Port of Portland Police Department
    The Police Department provides for the safety and security of people and property in and around PDX through emergency response; progressive enforcement of federal, state and local laws; and proactive crime prevention. The department works in conjunction with other state and federal agencies.”
    http://www.portofportland.com/PDX_Sfty_and_Scrty.aspx
    The next two police departments named were Fairview and Troutdale, which lie to the east of Portland and neighbor each other. Troutdale also has an airport which is under the umbrella of the Port of Portland. Fairview is a tiny planned community between Gresham (a high crime area) and Troutdale. It sounds like leads have been taking LE to East Multnomah County. I’m wondering if they could be following drug or human trafficking by sea or airplane, especially since he said that other cases maybe prosecuted as a result of this investigation.
    “We have knowledge of things we wished we didn’t.” Terri’s sexting? Prior treatment of Kyron? Swinging? They had to have known about the drug and child trafficking worlds. What could shock LE?
    William Jason Wishert is undoubtedly wishing he had not interjected himself in this case. Apparently new to the blogosphere via a request from Maxine Bernstein of the Oregonian, Mr. Wishert took to what he saw as his *nuveau*cause*celeb* status with moxy.
    That was until he announced his appearance on the scaredmonkeys.net forum to answer questions about the case and cry the blues when he accused the Oregonian of using his rough notes to skewer Dede Spicher. According to Wishert the “not a lot of kissing but plenty of telling” memo was not supposed to be published. About 3 minutes into his introduction to his “sleuthing public” Wishert was asked why he spelled his name incorrectly and if he was indeed the son of convicted child porn possessor William Kent Wishart. In a really bad move, Mr. Wishert denied the allegation and retreated with his tail somewhere on his person.
    Kent Wishart, former CEO of Graphic Sciences, is in Federal Custody for the next 4 years for possession of child porn and engaging in a file sharing subscription for same. Jason’s brother Grant is an employee of GS. All three Wishert’s hold numerous active and inactive business licenses throughout Oregon and Washington. Graphic Sciences has a Mexican affiliate office.
    Both Jason and his brother James Grant have had numerous legal entanglements (editor’s note: say it just like Chief Margie with the flat “a”) and our attempts to substantiate Jason’s claims about court appointed child advocacy certifications have yet to be confirmed.
    However, with his Uncle John Kerr, Jason Wishert is heavily involved in the Friends of Pimpollo Charity which sponsors various children issues and an orphanage in Mexico. FOP is a verified charity with a 50% tax deduction rate according to IRS Publication 78 in good standing, but they are years behind in their annual reporting.
    Mr. Wishert, everything written on here is true and 100% verified.
    When you chose to appear publicly, and subsequently write statements in your own name that are published, you can expect to lose any “right to privacy” on the matter as you have just agreed to become a quasi “public figure” on your accord.
    I wish you well.
