Murder In Mexico: Tiffany Hartley Endures 16 Hours Of Interviews In David Hartley Death

Tiffany Hartley emerged on CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360 yesterday after her 16th hour of interviews at the Mexican Consulate in McAllen, Texas.

Hartley recounted the events of September 30, ending with the alleged murder of her husband David. Ms. Hartley gave both new testimony and confirmed her previous statements according to reports from the Mexican Attorney General and Ms. Hartley herself, without the presence of an attorney.

According to several statements from Hartley, David was shot “off his jet ski” while the couple was returning from the Mexican side of Falcon Lake, where they briefly took pictures of the historic church on Old Guerrerro. Neither David Hartley nor his Sea Doo watercraft have been recovered.

One of the most baffling aspect of the case, is the fact that Ms. Hartley claims the pair were shot at at as they were driving their jet skis away from alleged “pirates” they both waved a friendly hello to, seconds before.  Tiffany Hartley was uninjured in the attack, and her jet ski was not hit in the gunfire. Although media was alerted last week that tests on a possible blood source on Tiffany’s life vest were due back that afternoon, we were quickly told there would be no updates about the possible blood evidence at this time.

This afternoon, blinkoncrime Editor spoke with Chuck Smith, owner Smith Marina USA about specifics of the Sea Doo RXT.

..Your correct, the RXT has a chip in the starter that is electronically programmed to “match” the owners lanyard key. If he was wearing the lanyard, whether attached to his vest, or in some cases the arm, and he was thrown off the ski, it activates a kill switch and will not start without the key it is programmed to without a factory reprogramming, which of course, one would need the paperwork for. In short, no matter what, they would need his key to start it.

Blink Question: What if he was not attached to the key, and he was shot and flew off the unit “in motion”, this would not shut the engine off, correct?

CS: Correct. The ski would continue in the direction the handlebars were pointing and continue to throttle in that direction.

Blink: How hard are these models to sink?

CS: Virtually impossible. I have never actually heard of, or seen one, sink to the bottom. The way the Coast Guard standards are now with these, they have hulls similar to boats.

Blink: Could enough bullet holes sink it? What about if the contiuum– could that have caused it to flip? Could anyone right it?

CS: No, not unless we are talking morter rounds. I guess in theory an automatic weapon could put enough holes cut it in half if that was the goal, but again, your still going to see shards of fiberglass all over the water, remnants similar to a boat accident or crash. Again, under these circumstances, I don’t see how he could flip it, but if it were, again, harder to see because the bottom is black, but any SAR or Coast Guard deployment knows what abnormalities to look for on the water surface. It would be next to impossible to “right it” in deep water. It would be more likely they would drag it to shallow water.

Blink: Is this chop-shoppable?

CS: Absolutely. There is some after factory devices, similar to lo jack, but the engine and parts are expensive and could easily be sold that way.

Blink: He was wearing a PFD I. In your opinion is that keeping him afloat until he is located if he was left in the water?

CS: Absolutely, unless it was removed, or he and the vest were removed from the water, he would be floating, yes.

As announced this morning on Dana Pretzer commentary, Blink, Editor In Chief of blinkoncrime.com will be discussing the Hartley case this evening live at 9PM EST on Scared Monkeys The Dana Pretzer Show.

I just got done watching as much as I could stand of the second memorial service. The motorcycle is back. First person to get up and speak after preacher (who really creeped me out) was Ms. A-K 47 America, sister of Tiffany. She was extremely nervous, ill at ease, and very seldom looked up from the paper she was reading. Sorry that’s all I’ve got. I am very uncomfortable watching something like this that appears to be nothing more than a sideshow. Anybody else care to take a turn?

  2. Mermaid14 says:

Ok, now I am REALLY pissed!! Just read a CNN article on the memorial service and this was the last sentence. “At the end of the memorial service a flag was presented to the family that had been flown at the Texas state Capitol in Austin in honor of David Hartley”.
This man was NOT in government service, was NOT in the military, nobody even knows what happened to him! How in the hell does anyone rate a flag being flown at the state capitol in their honor under these circumstances??!! I don’t even think this is freaking legal!
I am going to really make some Texas noise over this, this is a disgrace!

    Yes.
(I’m not really known for being short on words.)

Well, we have that in common then.

  4. Mermaid14 says:

Well just like everything else for sale in Texas so is the flag. I thought they were talking about an American flag which should be reserved for military veterans and those in government service. In checking with the Texas House of Reps, Sargeant-at-Arms it seems anybody can pay to have a flag flown at the state capitol, it says in honor of individuals or groups. I am still offended by this and still feel it was completely innapropriate. We don’t know if this man is dead, or by what means if he is. Nobody should be turned into an instant hero without the facts. It doesn’t say who paid for the flag or who requested that it be flown.

Mermaid 14, do you have a link to this: “Now on that website they have actually declared that there is going to be a THIRD, yes, gag, a third one, oh this one is to celebrate David AND Tiffany.” I can’t find it.

She needs to give that flag back, and apologize for taking a flag on

This is an insult to my American brain.

There was an “unbelievable” incident just this last week to an American couple in Playa del Carmen where he was jailed and she was left to fend for herself while the American Consulate left them high and dry. They had to bribe their way out of the country with the help of missionaries. Unbelievable? Yes. Did it happen they way they said it did? Yes. It happens EVERY day, it just doesn’t make the news.
    ==========================
I just want to further explain this story about the American man. He was leaving Mexico, at the Cancun Airport and security found a handgun in his lugguge. He acknowledged it was his and he had forgotten about it or misplaced it. So it wasn’t like he was arrested for no reason. You can google about Val and Kendra Durrington to learn the details. Sorry Blink but I felt I needed to explain this one further.

  8. S.H. says:

I am sorry, Blink, for rewriting my comment.

She needs to give that flag back, and apologize for taking a flag on
her husband behalf. There is absolutely not one shed of evidence that he have been killed, or dead, or even maimed.

David was not shot in the line of duty.

    It was a politician’s stunt.

David’s “Biker” friends, should have been at his memorial, and given
him a salute. If David was such a dare-devil and courageous, why wan’t he an Air-Borne Ranger, in the service? Why? Because he was not
courageous. He wanted fun and not duty to his country.

Give the flag back Tiffany, David did not earn the Flag.
This is an insult to my American brain.

Watched Colorado memorial on the “Bring David Home” site. In 50 plus years of going to church I can honestly say I have never seen a pastor pray like this one. The opening and closing of his eyes was strange….like a disconnection/reconnection to the purpose of the prayer. It is like watching an actor…sometimes some sort of grimmace/smile embraces his face. OK, I know the preacher is not on trial here…but it just seemed fake. The shiny motorcycle parked up front again and the picture being the same one…hmmmm..I don’t know. Just seems as though the planners could have embraced another scenario for a man who had such a lust for adventure. David’s sister provided the most demonstrative show of grief by a family member thus far. The flag presentation did seem a little strange in that we most often see this as a very poignant part of a military or LE or government official memorial. I like to believe in the intrinsic goodness of man….but this whole case has left me lacking that feeling….but really do not know who it is that is not allowing me to feel good about this. I just hope that whatever happened there will eventually be justice for David…..if he is not alive.

    Mermaid14,

The American Flag is not a Hallmark card.

Tiffany Hartley needs to return the flag, out of respect and honor, to the real people who stood and died for the flag.

I come from a military family- We found great honor and comfort in receiving an American Flag when our loved ones were laid to rest. I know flags are also given to Police officers and Firemen ect. I realize that the Texas State flag is not the American Flag but I will have to say that it does offend me that Tiffany Hartley was given this flag in David’s honor. However, I do not believe she must return it, nor should she feel bad for having accepted it, although- those that gave it to her most definitely should. IMO

It seems that this sort of tribute should be held for those that died having served. JMO

  13. Mermaid14 says:

My father was a WWII Veteran and as such he was buried with full military honors, the only thing we didn’t have was a 21 gun salute, I think that should be reserved for high ranking officers, soldiers killed in the line of duty, etc. My mother was presented with an American flag that is folded a certain way. The flag is also to be presented by military veterans. They put 3 rifle bullets inside the fold of the flag, and explain to the recipient that they represent, Duty, Honor, Country. My father joined the Merchant Marine at the age of 17 right out of high school. He shipped out and spent two years in the war zone in the Pacific watching ships getting blown up all around him.
Rick Perry served no time in the military. David Hartley served no time in the military. Yet this governor felt this man deserved to be honored as a war veteran. If I do find out this was an American flag that was presented, I am going to personally contact my Congressman, Ron Paul and express my outrage, and demand that the governor be sanctioned for allowing something like this.
I am sick and tired of people wrapping themselves in the American flag that have no right to. That goes for Bush and Cheney too, two of the biggest war mongers and flag wavers this country has ever seen, both of whom refused to serve any time in Vietnam.
This charade has gone on long enough already! When is somebody going to expose this thing for what it is??!!

  14. Jettx says:

Jo, you are correct. My point is that if the Durrington’s hadn’t made it home, if it had turned out differently, it too, would have been as “unbelievable” as the Hartley’s. I did not mean to imply that it was unbelievable in an incredulous way. What I find incredible about that story is that the gun made it onto the plane FROM the U.S., and was then discovered on the trip home. But, stranger things have happened.

So, just like the Hartleys, some could say there is more to the Durrington’s story, also. It just turned out differently.

Ok, perhaps some miscommunication. In re-visiting Seamus Oreilly, it was stated that the slide show would be about David’s life and another one would be about their life together. Somehow this got misconstrued into a separate memorial altogether. Sorry for any confusion.

Jettx, we had to fly from Texas to Indiana to bury my father and at the time, none of us knew that my brother in law’s hanging garment bag had an old gun and clip in the bottom of it that had been there for many years from some hunting trip. This was right after 911-We flew out of Austin to Dallas and then to Fort Wayne Indiana and the gun and clip were not discovered until we were going to fly out of Indiana back to Texas. This little rinky dink airport in Indiana found it but not the bigger one in Austin or Dallas Fort Worth. Didn’t make us feel too terribly confident in the airport screening process. They did however, at Austin and DFW, find it necessary to repeatedly open and search the container holding my father’s ashes.

I’m really bummed today. Sometimes it just seems like there is no justice anymore, just people figuring out more clever ways to commit crimes and get away with them. (heavy sigh) :(

Yes, I stand to be corrected, Thank-you. The Texas flag was flown

I stand by my statement, Tiffany, should give the flag back, David did not earn a flag, and to honor him, for WHAT?

The “Harley-Davidson” flag, should have been presented to Tiffany by his Biker buddies.

Hi S.H.: I recall one female reporter from a cable news program commenting how, when she visited the area around Falcon, she was under the impression that the various LE agencies involved had gathered a lot more information than what they were revealing to the public. Living in Texas, and having some friends who still regularly fish Falcon, they all say that most LE in that area truly believe some errant Zeta youths or Zeta wannabes killed David that day.

I am not sure we will ever know exactly went down that day on the lake.

    Mermaid,

Thank-you for digging. Did TH or DH contibute to a campaign?
I believe, campaign contributions, are public information.

He is Vice Chair of the “Border and Intergovernmental Affairs Committee” for the Texas House of Representatives. That is interesting
but curious how it connects with her?

This is a real puzzle, or it is? I like to simplify things, so not to
complicate my brain. Why for the love of Marie, would Mr.Flynn, send a letter and a Texas flag to her, and have it read and presented to her? What is the purpose? Any ideas?

  28. Madilu says:

@lee -I appreciate hearing from you. I am curious to know if there are signs down by the zapata boat ramp launch… what the signs/warnings are if any… the other thing I am curious about is if there are regulations that when you are in international waters that you need to carry ID…ie. if any signs say to carry your id with you ifgoing on the mexican side. Perhaps the tackle shops would know what the rules are. also, and this might be hard to do, but pic of around the shore area where she likely arrived.

Also, I tried to post this a couple of days ago, but it did not take…

I found this yesterday, apparently a local fishing guide:

“Speedy made some phone calls and found out they were on jet skis. Knowing that authorities were doing survelance on a person who had been suspected of trafficking drugs via jet skis, he made another call to someone to find out if it was this person who was killed. He was told that that person was indeed dead. What he was not told was that the person under survelance was killed thursday in a drug transaction in Guerrero Mexico and not the Viejo Guerrero church. It turns out that 2 americans were killed Thursday. David Guzman of Zapata in the drug transaction in new Guerrero, and David Hartley near the Viejo Guerreo church. An unbelievably terrible coincidence.”
    **************************************************

It’s interesting on a few levels, and falls right in line with what Lee is commenting. Why, pray tell, no mention about this other David who was supposedly killed on the same day… and if this comment is true (why would it not be?) then it shows that they are in fact involved in bigger investigations…and if some officials are suspected of living beyond their means, I find the Hartley spending to be quite right “up there” for a young couple -EVEN THOUGH Calfrac paid their rent. And now since everyone at his memorial talked about his past “mini-criminal” misdeeds, as well as that “he was always up to something…” And on top of that driving around with expired Mexican plates for months and crossing into another country NOT through border entry point…???

Overall this case is very confusing to me. She is undoubtedly deceptive -but the question is WHY? It really could be a simple as her shame for not going back to help him. It could be to preserve his reputation (protect him) if he was buying guns/drugs illegally or something…or then again it could be a big web of crime, political/religious agenda. I lean towards one of the first two.

And in regard to “I have seen it personally” -you actually went to Texas? really? ur holding out on us. And when do you find the time?

    @S.H.,
As to why Flynn became involved? For one thing, sucking up to the Gov. For another, publicity as this is a high profile case. I am sure all of these little details were arranged BEFORE the election, so reason number 3, votes. There must be something all these politicians want that is on the other side of the border, otherwise, why are they down there so much and in all the business that goes on down there? Why are they all trying to gain influence and control of the area? Trust me, it ain’t cause they care about people’s lives. And look how many American corporations have moved down there for the cheap labor, and also so that they don’t have to put up with regulatory hassles here. They tell us to run like hell for our lives, but they’re running towards it instead of away from it. For those of you who haven’t lived in Texas all your lives, you may not know about the corporate scandal that took place in the 70s and 80s. American corporations were going down there setting up factories, and dumping all their toxic waste in the Rio Grande. There was a huge number of babies born on both sides of the Rio Grande with hydroencephalia (water on the brain). They directly linked it to toxins in the water.
By my tone I may sound like I am pro-illegal immigration, but nothing could be further from the truth. It is just that the very politicians that are screaming foul about the illegals are the same ones who bought influence and are in the pockets of these corporations who have been exploiting and poisoning these people for decades. THEY are trying to brainwash YOU by telling YOU to be afraid of illegals.
This is not about a war on drugs, it’s about a war on PEOPLE. They took thousands of OUR jobs, exported them to Mexico so they didn’t have to put up with the very laws that THEY themselves enacted in Congress. They have exploited these people’s desperation and poverty so they could enrich themselves and instead of answering to US about what happened to the jobs, they pull a “look over there” smoke and mirrors game telling you to fear the Muslims that are sneaking over the border, and scaring you about drug cartels. Yes, the cartels exist, but you have to look at what has led up to all this.
Wake up folks. The America that we once knew and loved has become almost unrecognizable and may become extinct in our lifetime.

Or if they have a reason to believe something is amiss are they allowed to go ahead and search? Or do they need a warrant? A drug sniffing dog would have done the trick. If you’re going to pull over someone you suspect of having drugs then why wouldn’t you have a drug sniffing dog there to help with the search? So many unanswered questions.

I haven’t been to Zapata in a fairly long time and I don’t recall what signs are around the lake but I’ll try to find out from our family. I’m here in El Paso right next to the Rio Grande and there are no signs anywhere that say things like what you are asking about.
Zapata really is not much of a place at all. Someone posted here the other day that they used Google street or something to travel via the internet through Zapata and all she saw was bushes on both sides of the road. Those would be creosotes and that’s all we saw driving into Zapata. We had to go down that road quite a bit before we ever saw anything that resembled civilization. They didn’t even have paved roads except for in the part that is considered the main part of town. Everything else is pretty rural with dirt roads. At the time we went Falcon Lake was really low because it had not rained in a long time. That Old Guerro place was almost completely out of the water and seeing it was kind of creepy. Had the water not have been so low, I never would have dreamed that there were old buildings below the surface. Here in El Paso there are no signs about any such things you asked about around the Rio Grande. The only ones we ever see warn about the danger of drowning and the fact that it’s deeper and the current runs faster on the Mexican side but a lot of the time, the river actually has no water.

Madilu, the quote you posted could corroborate the mistaken identity story that was put out there. Wasn’t the story that the Zetas mistook David Hartley for someone else, and when they discovered the mistake, their elders took care of them? Could also be why they stopped DH & TH, and subsequently let them go on after the traffic stop. Could it be they were looking for the other guy?

Davids’s friend and co-worker Brad Hunter: “This memorial service is not goodbye. It’s ‘See ya later.’ We know where he is. We just have to wait awhile before we see him again.”

    Uh…how…eloquent???

    Hello,

I watched the memorial last night,

http://www.bringdavidhome.com/category/memorial/ and I honestly will say when the preacher was speaking, I fell asleep. Lol, not very nice, but true. I was brought up Catholic, so that kind of service is different for me. I do think that man was peculiar in the same ways as has already been mentioned. He acted as though he wanted his audience to feel the out of body experience he was having. To each is own.
I know with age we all put on a few pounds, but I am bothered by his( DH) profound weight gain. I wonder what period of time that occurred in?

    Hello to all~
I haven’t been on this thread lately for the simple fact that I just can’t stand to talk about this insane, bizarre case anymore! I will say that I am in utter shock that after all we have talked about here, I found out last week a very close friend who lives here in Wichita lost his uncle due to cross fire down by McAllen Tx/ Mexico boarder where he lived. His wife is still in the hospital from the car accident that resulted when he was shot and left for dead! Unbelievable!!! By the way the the people that shot him didn’t care who saw the body there dead either!

I came across this listing for a house for sale in Zapata. I would think it’s one of those residences my sister in law was talking about.
Looks pretty grand considering what is typical in Zapata

    Ross,

    Thank-you for the information.

Did she paid to have the Texas flag flown over the State Capitol? OK.

What was the deal with Mr.Flynn writing her a letter?

    Does everyone recieve a letter?

    Does everyone recieve the flag?

How can we find out for sure? Is that public knowledge? Thank-you.

Has anyone looked at the bringdavidhome website? I can’t believe that the money they are accepting is not mentioned as going towards helping to bring David home. It is being used for political purposes. You think she would have at least pretended to be wanting his body back by setting up a reward for David’s body. When is this woman going be held accountable for her lies???
