Holly Bobo Missing And Endangered: Searchers Frustrated- An Easter Dedication

Posted by BOC Staff | Clint Bobo,Holly Bobo,Missing and Endangered,Tennessee Bureau of Investigation | Saturday 23 April 2011 7:11 pm

Among the community that has banded together *like*no*other* in recent memory,  are weary searchers, volunteers and the families that live without them, for days on end.

Holly Bobo pink shirt

The readers and editors of www.blinkoncrime.com commend you today. I have spoken to many of you in the field, and I know that in an active investigation, there is so little to keep you motivated and strong.

Your community is a very spiritual one, as is Holly Bobo’s family. I also know that you are dealing with issues of dissension in your communal congregation if you will, and I wanted you to know the nation is watching and we hold you up this Easter weekend.

To the TBI, assisting LE agencies, and the great and powerful civilians working to find Holly Bobo today, we dedicate one of my favorite works of literature.

It is intensely personal to me.

My Gram, whom I miss dearly, was a career surgical nurse, as is Holly’s chosen study, read it to me when I was little, to the point of her exhaustion I presume..

As a small child learning to read, I would bound into their house and recite it from the framed needlepoint on the wall as if it was a ticket for admission to cross the foyer.

Gram

To The Family complicating these efforts: I offer this to you as well, in good faith.

Today can show YOUR faith and commitment like no other.

Ask for guidance today, it is there for you.

The hands of this community are strong and large. Prayers and Strength to Holly and the good folks trying to bring her home.

The House by the Side of the Road

 by Sam Walter Foss

There are hermit souls that live withdrawn In the place of their self-content; There are souls like stars, that dwell apart, In a fellowless firmament; There are pioneer souls that blaze their paths Where highways never ran- But let me live by the side of the road And be a friend to man.

Let me live in a house by the side of the road, Where the race of men go by- The men who are good and the men who are bad, As good and as bad as I. I would not sit in the scorner’s seat, Or hurl the cynic’s ban.

Let me live in a house by the side of the road And be a friend to man.

I see from my house by the side of the road, By the side of the highway of life, The men who press with the ardor of hope, The men who are faint with the strife. But I turn not away from their smiles nor their tears, Both parts of an infinite plan

Let me live in a house by the side of the road And be a friend to man.

I know there are brook-gladdened meadows ahead And mountains of wearisome height; That the road passes on through the long afternoon And stretches away to the night. But still I rejoice when the travelers rejoice. And weep with the strangers that moan, Nor live in my house by the side of the road Like a man who dwells alone.

Let me live in my house by the side of the road. It’s here the race of men go by. They are good, they are bad, they are weak, they are strong, Wise, foolish- so am I; Then why should I sit in the scorner’s seat, Or hurl the cynic’s ban?

Let me live in my house by the side of the road And be a friend to man.

Have not covered every site but of those I have this sticks out in my mind. Seems like its being reported dragged, lead , cammo guy into woods. The only witness to that is brother ? Neighbor heard screaming and from what I can tell came to house? I know the last person is highly scrutanized and I am thinking the brother would want LDT to clear himself but my confusion is this seems to be reported as fact . Also on photo gallery,at justice for Caylee, saw no photos in the 55 shown of mother, father, or brother, only, I’m assuming current boyfriend. Not sure why that particular photo with skull shirt choosen but I feel must be some message.

Since there is someone who won’t let their property be searched and it may be a valid reason (like protecting crops) or a not-so-valid reason (growing marijuana), are the police allowed to go and promise to not press charges for something like pot being grown if that is the issue?

Also, here in Ohio, they had a farmer on local news saying that he cannot plant ANYthing right now because of all the rain. Everything is way too wet, so I doubt that is the reason someone is refusing. Some folks are just against any kind of search that is not court-ordered-I am one of those people. But even I could make an exception if there was a good reason like this!!

    Blink? Your thoughts?

I am not avoiding your question, I just do not feel my legal explanation of voluntary property searches and the plain sight rules of search and seizure will help this investigation.

It may take longer than it should, but I am confident if TBI is identifying and filing probable cause warrants they will get access regardless.

Blink: UGH. I can think of an awful scenario based on a family pet that would certainly make Holly go with her abductor into the woods. I hope I just have an overly active imagination.

    Curious: Is Myracle pronounced Miracle?
I noticed that the road is the same name as a family in the area, one with a 21 year old son who is a friend of Holly’s and Clint’s, but not of Drew Scott.

  8. starshadow says:

If it’s non-human blood, that absolutely scream fully planned premeditation. No way around it.

It also strongly suggests that the main purpose of her disappearance was NOT to kill her.

If the purpose is merely to kill her, wouldn’t need to abduct her. Just shoot her from the cover of the woods and go, much less risky that way.

That leaves sexual, sadistical, etc, with later disposal as one option. And pretty much the only other option I can think of is ransom-based.
    ———————
As a side note, I am absolutely sick and tired of hearing people yammer on about polygraphs. They’re NOT admissible for a reason – they’re NOT reliable. When you really, really need them to be 100% perfect – with a probable psychopath – they don’t work.

And then people start suggesting “truth” serum. That makes me want to smack my head against the wall.

And the parents not being on TV? Maybe the family feels like I would, and is actually DEVASTATED rather then enjoying their 15 minutes of fame in any way they can get it.

I rarely tell this story but here goes- In one of my classes years ago, one of my proffs, a practicing criminal defense attorney for 20 years, demonstrated a number of impromptu poly’s with students and HIMSELF.

The students and he were only asked questions known to be verified to be true out of the student file, or in his case, the faculty file. 3 out of 9 polly’s were shown to be deceptive on their Mother’s name, or a former address.

They are an excellent exclusionary investigative tool for LE, they are great for furthering conversations with a POI, they are not admissable because those odds are not ok under our constitution.

Thanks for the clarification on the Subscriber Identification Module. Someone had posted simm rather than sim and I had responded to that.

I have put more than a few SIMM modules in computers. The subscriber identification module is written to a ROM and is non-volatile so it keeps the information regardless of battery condition.

  10. GeorgiaDad says:

I am not sure if a SIM card would be of any use, other than fingerprints. Many smart phones, such as the Droid use a micro-SD card to store data, photos, music etc. Although we don’t know what kind of phone she has, the micro-SD card, which is actually quite small may be what they are looking for. The SIM card essentially just identifies the phone, the micro-SD card if available, might have important information. An iPhone by the way, does not have any easily removable parts.

If this were the case, this would suggest that the perp is somewhat knowledgeable about cell phones. But if this were the case, why would he leave this potentially incriminating information behind at all, unless he was trying to send a message to LE, but in that case, why remove the SD card at all.

If Holly threw out the cell phone with some secret message, it should all be in one piece.

I suspect the bad guy kept the SD card, or disposed of it in some way that it will not be found.

As much as I would like for her to be found healthy, I suspect LE will need to re-search the flooded areas to see if anything has been brought to the surface by the flooding.

  11. JEN says:

@safehaven, the skull design on the shirt in question is typical of the Affliction brand, which is popular among the 20- and early-30-something sets. My DH has several of them. In fact, I wouldn’t have looked at it twice had you not brought it up – point being with regard to the shirt in context of the selected photo, IMO there’s no message there. :)

  12. Jeanette Johnson says:

I just read mostly, but I have to comment on this cross bone skull symbol(?) on his shirt. If you look at the picture of Holly with the pink stocking hat on. She has pig tails. With a guy. Looke like they are standing by a shed. She has a cross bone skull on her hat. It’s with the 55 pictures. Just an observation. Wouldn’t put too much emphasis on danger because of that symbol.

    Hello,

    Just a little FYI:

In response, to some of the discussion on here about cell phones. A person can send a text from there p.c. via the internet on Verizon.com. There is no need to be signed into a Verizon account. I think, you do have to put a call back number. But, I guess you could use anyones number. I posted the link below. I am sure all of the people on here already know this. But, just in case someone didn’t I thought I would share.

One day I was work and had forgotten my cell at home and was wanting to text my daughter. So, I tried it and it worked.

Some abductors do not kill. They instead want to hold the victum hoping to teach them to care for the abductor.

The guy that abducted J.C. Duggard and kept her for 18 years for example. He previously had abducted and raped a young woman that was a friend of his ex-wife. He kept her almost a week in a warehouse near Las Vegas. He was caught by police checking the warehouse on a tip from a citizen.

He was in his twenties when he did the first abduction.

I pray that Holly is able to convince her abductor not to harm her further and that searchers and LE will be able find her to set her free.

I do completely agree that a polygragh should not be admissible in court but as a means to “set oneself in the clear” IMO would offer some relief. I do not mean in anyway that this brother having unfortunately the hindsight,of seeing his sister leave into the woods and not respond, would be a memory, I would want a loving brother to have. I do feel confident in TBI that if they feel this is pertinent they will acquire it and that is definately affirmative for me.

Texas Grandfather do you remember the novel “The Collector” by John Fowles? Ther was also an English movie “The Butterfly Collector”. Both very creepy. Unfortunately at this point it appears Blink has directed us towards the thoughts of LE knowing exactly who is responsible. I would think they are being watched very carefully. How would they get to Holly to give her food or water. With the high profile of this case if Holly was being watched by another, i.e. an unknown associate, I would think they would either let her go or eliminate the witness. Sometime I have to wonder if the notoriety of a case seals the fate of some victims. I am sure that the good of publicity out ways the bad, however. I wonder if the perp is under or over 30?

I hope this doesn’t sound insensitive, but I keep coming back to it: Why is it that the TN Governor has put up $50k and Whitney Duncan, who is Holly’s cousin and apparently a famous recording artist, has put up nothing? I don’t suspect her of anything of course, but it seems very odd! If I were her, I’d immediately have put up a big time reward – IMMEDIATELY! Everything I have would be in that pot. Get it up to $1,000,000. Maybe she doesn’t have a million (although I argue she could raise it through donations/contacts), but come on, at least something! I really don’t mean to sound insensitive, but for young kids in a small town who know something, real money could be just the incentive they need to talk. Not just a $75k.
Also – I’d assume they’re swabbing people day and night in that town for DNA. Every.Single.Person.

  27. Kim from PA says:

If TBI is reviewing 4 disappearance cases up to 30 years old (last one in 1992 I think) as possibly connected to the Holly Bobo abduction and the buzz is there could be a connection to a well known Parsons, TN family (maybe prominent, maybe with connections, or maybe well known for something not good)then we should look for a suspect with deep roots in Parsons, possibly investigated as a suspect in the previous disappearances but determined not enough evidence to confirm, and maybe was incarcerated for 15-20 years between 1992 and April 2011.

My theory is if there is a serial killer responsible in HB case, maybe he didn’t kill for 20 years because he was in prison for a lesser crime and has recently been released.

You raise some valid points about an aductor holding their victum. Tending to the food and water situation could become a problem for the abductor. However, if she is being held in a place where other people are able to help, or in a place where LE are not looking, then the food and water are not a problem.

I am reminded of another case of a young girl being abducted in North Carolina where the perp actually had built an underground room. After her initial shock and fear subsided, the child waited until the perp fell asleep and used his cell phone to text her mom and let her know where she was. There was not a problem with food or water in this case because no one knew of the underground room except the perp.

I want to thank you for sharing the photo of your Gram with us. I never come to this piece that I do not stop and spend some time just looking at the beautiful picture of her and wondering how close to her appearance you had at that age.

She appears to be about 30 months and looking at the clothing and the type of trees and the wood structure in the background I would guess that this picture was taken in the early afternoon with a slight breeze from the Northwest.

You may make this private if you wish or edit it.

  33. Safehaven says:

Reveiwing again , have not seen anywhere time Holly last seen by Mom, Dad, or any statement as to younger sister. I understand LE may want to withhold info but maybe the reason 911 call from CB not released is,CB used the words dragged because this statement changed somewhere along the way. No drag marks were found and no scent was picked up in the woods edge. If he did then waiting 40minutes or so to report is very significant to me. If this is all misstatements from local LE , media and rumors then the TBI owes it to the state of Tennessee and all their children and parents to notify them of a clear and present danger. This would be an abductor with very developed skills. BUT why then choose the house,if they knew the familys routine, they saw CB’s truck and ” oops “I could get stopped. Next, brought up on another blog : Where are Hollys keys if she was lead by someone she knew why would she not say hold on ____ let me put my stuff in car. But if she was grabbed while screaming and being duck taped wouldn’t her stuff be on the ground. MOO

  34. Kim says:

Whitney Duncan is a country music artis. I think it would be a stretch to say she is a famous country music artist though. She does tour and has had one or two songs out. I think one of them was actually an appearance on a Kenny Rogers song and not her own song. Most people have no idea how the country music business works so it’s hard for people to believe that someone at Whitney’s career position really probably doesn’t have that kind of money just laying around that she would be able to put up for a reward. No doubt her record contract requires her to pay back the record company every cent they shelled out for the studio time for any recording she’s done, every cent for the video shoot to go with the single, every cent for the cost of promoting her music….and on and on. And don’t forget she has to pay every person in her band, crew and management team. It takes a long time for an up and coming artist to actually come out ahead when it comes to money. So please don’t fault Whitney for what you preceive as her not being willing to put up the money for reward. I’m sure she’s done all she can to contribute and wishes she could do more.

  35. kuaitzudog says:

    @safehaven
“But if she was grabbed while screaming and being duck taped wouldn’t her stuff be on the ground.”

I thought that very thing too..very strange, yet lunch bag was found in woods?? If you are accosted and frightened your Babinski reflex would engage and your arms would supposldy fly in all directions..scattering whatever you were holding…I doubt a perp would take the time to stop and pick up a lunch cooler bag if it was indeed dropped..

  36. Ragdoll says:

Kim, I agree with you. I don’t think Whitney has reached the level that brings in that kind of money…..yet! Anything that comes in is almost put back into her music (agent, band, record label, etc etc).

I don’t understand why we’re even asking such a question, to be honest. This is her cousin and doesn’t it go without saying if she could, she’d donate to the reward if it brought her cousin home? Her cousin is missing. The last thing we need to be doing is to attack those who are grieving and feeling completely helpless because their sweet Holly is missing. I pray to GOD I never experience this kind of pain in my lifetime. They’ve done nothing wrong.

Our focus should be on the freak who took her. He’s the one who brought this tragedy onto Holly and her family.

  37. A Texas Grandfather says:

I think the perp used a weapon on Holly at the carport and walked her into the woods. I also think he made her put down her lunch box prior to trying to secure her and that is when she managed to shout for help.

Beginning professional musicians in the pops field do not make money for several years. Most of the revenue goes for things that Kim mentioned in her post. If one is lucky, they can produce a Number one hit song and with it make it to the big time. This does not happen very often.

I rather doubt that Holly’s cousin has any extra money to add to the reward.
