Holly Bobo Missing And Endangered: Searchers Frustrated- An Easter Dedication

Posted by BOC Staff | Clint Bobo,Holly Bobo,Missing and Endangered,Tennessee Bureau of Investigation | Saturday 23 April 2011 7:11 pm

Among the community that has banded together *like*no*other* in recent memory,  are weary searchers, volunteers and the families that live without them, for days on end.

Holly Bobo pink shirt

The readers and editors of www.blinkoncrime.com commend you today. I have spoken to many of you in the field, and I know that in an active investigation, there is so little to keep you motivated and strong.

Your community is a very spiritual one, as is Holly Bobo’s family. I also know that you are dealing with issues of dissension in your communal congregation if you will, and I wanted you to know the nation is watching and we hold you up this Easter weekend.

To the TBI, assisting LE agencies, and the great and powerful civilians working to find Holly Bobo today, we dedicate one of my favorite works of literature.

It is intensely personal to me.

My Gram, whom I miss dearly, was a career surgical nurse, as is Holly’s chosen study, read it to me when I was little, to the point of her exhaustion I presume..

As a small child learning to read, I would bound into their house and recite it from the framed needlepoint on the wall as if it was a ticket for admission to cross the foyer.

Gram

To The Family complicating these efforts: I offer this to you as well, in good faith.

Today can show YOUR faith and commitment like no other.

Ask for guidance today, it is there for you.

The hands of this community are strong and large. Prayers and Strength to Holly and the good folks trying to bring her home.

The House by the Side of the Road

 by Sam Walter Foss

There are hermit souls that live withdrawn In the place of their self-content; There are souls like stars, that dwell apart, In a fellowless firmament; There are pioneer souls that blaze their paths Where highways never ran- But let me live by the side of the road And be a friend to man.

Let me live in a house by the side of the road, Where the race of men go by- The men who are good and the men who are bad, As good and as bad as I. I would not sit in the scorner’s seat, Or hurl the cynic’s ban.

Let me live in a house by the side of the road And be a friend to man.

I see from my house by the side of the road, By the side of the highway of life, The men who press with the ardor of hope, The men who are faint with the strife. But I turn not away from their smiles nor their tears, Both parts of an infinite plan

Let me live in a house by the side of the road And be a friend to man.

I know there are brook-gladdened meadows ahead And mountains of wearisome height; That the road passes on through the long afternoon And stretches away to the night. But still I rejoice when the travelers rejoice. And weep with the strangers that moan, Nor live in my house by the side of the road Like a man who dwells alone.

Let me live in my house by the side of the road. It’s here the race of men go by. They are good, they are bad, they are weak, they are strong, Wise, foolish- so am I; Then why should I sit in the scorner’s seat, Or hurl the cynic’s ban?

Let me live in my house by the side of the road And be a friend to man.

Blink, is this case going cold? Is it because of the ‘We know that it is a Local’ philosophy and focus? During the search on Easter Sunday, we located several significant items. One item was very significant and pointed to a possible stranger abduction. When the THP Officer came to retrieve it he said, “prolly has nothing to do with this investigation and then relunctly tagged and bagged it”.
I asked him why it wasn’t significant and he said that we know that the abductor is a local. This attitude concerns me very much..

You were at the search? Thank you for searching.

I am not concerned, I believe strongly this is a local suspect and or suspects.

Hello Blink. I was so happy to read you were covering the disappearance of Holly Bobo. An interesting case.

A beautiful young girl disappears in the morning on her way from her home to her car lunch box in hand.

A stranger appears out of the woods in camo clothing and is seen by her brother from the window. He does nothing because he thinks it is Holly boyfriend.

Huh??? I think if a boyfriend took Holly. Arrest him. What are they waiting for a body? Don’t need one. Take him in.

Or if the story is not as it was released or if facts have changed then we have to look at the telling of the story.

    Hummm I say. Hummm.

HI Elizabeth- nice to see you.

I would like to respond to you and to anyone that is suspicious about Clint Bobo, with much respect as always, of course.

Clint Bobo is an eyewitness in this case. He has never once spoken publicly and anything he may or may not have seen has been either out of a LEO statement, or interpreted by media.

What I would like everyone to consider is this: We had a wounded girl, taken with force, and an immediate response with all available assets engaged, in record time, and the priority was to prevent a suspect from harming her further before she/they could be found.

If what he may or may not have seen would interfere with that strategy, then it is LE’s job to manage that flow of information.

That is as specific as I intend to be on the issue.

Nope it is ok, I just cannot answer some of these things without the question posted, it is unfair to other readers.

However, this I have answered many times my friend.

Sadly, I do not think she is being held anywhere, and I do not think she is alive.
    B

You and I think alive. I don’t think she is being held and I do not think she is alive.

I also think they don’t have a clue whodunnit. If they did there would be an arrest.

To add to all of that I don’t think this was a stranger that parked on a highway, walked in camo gear at 7am and abudcted a young, beautiful blonde while her brother watched from a window and thought all was swell.

Something is very off with all of this.

I hope this doesn’t sound insensitive, but I keep coming back to it: Why is it that the TN Governor has put up $50k and Whitney Duncan, who is Holly’s cousin and apparently a famous recording artist, has put up nothing? I don’t suspect her of anything of course, but it seems very odd! If I were her, I’d immediately have put up a big time reward – IMMEDIATELY! Everything I have would be in that pot. Get it up to $1,000,000. Maybe she doesn’t have a million (although I argue she could raise it through donations/contacts), but come on, at least something! I really don’t mean to sound insensitive, but for young kids in a small town who know something, real money could be just the incentive they need to talk. Not just a $75k.
Also – I’d assume they’re swabbing people day and night in that town for DNA. Every.Single.Person.

At first I thought when I read your post. “I bet the cousin doesn’t have any money. A struggling artist”. But continuing your thought I bet she does have contacts and a lot of those stars are looking for a way to “help out somebody or some charity”

All I have heard from her is defending Clint Bobo. Heck she wasn’t there that morning. I am sure she loves him but I think she could be a big help in other ways. Reward money comes to mind.

    Hi Blink,

Thanks for your coverage. Anyway, I want to have some conclusions, but before it please kindly provide me with some details:
1- On 13th of April, Holly came out of her home to get to her car. She had a lunch box and probably a purse or bag because she was headed to college. It was reported there was blood on carport. Please specify me if the car was parked in the rear of the house (near that circle pool) or in front (side with an straight way to Jacksons Road).
2- That blood may be from three different sources: Holly’s herself, abductor’s and someone or something else.
If it was Holly’s, then it means the abductor has hit her, I assume in face and probably her nose was bleeding. In that case she was probably crashed on carport and the blood was on the floor. If it is true, we know she did not scream because her brother heard nothing. Then, it can be logical to conclude the abductor/s can be someone she had known and she did not expect to be hit. Then abductor forced her to stand up, grab her purse and lunch box and led her to the woods. In the same time, brother saw her with abductor from behind and not alarmed because he though he was her BF. OK. Now there is the problem: we know Clint has called 911 after finding blood but I heard from sheriff about another phone call from a neighbor who heard screams. Why Holly did not scream in front of her home but screamed near a neighbor’s place? Please provide me with your opinion. Also, do you know if Clint called 911 first or the neighbor?
3- Did abductor use a car or ATV to lead Holly away from home? Do you know anything about a clue from a car or ATV in Bobo’s property?
I wait for your kind answers and thanks for covering Holly’s case. I don’t know why but she becomes very important these days though I have not meet her in person and I do not even come from US.

    Best regards,
    Alex.

    Alex-

Welcome to BOC, with much respect, I have answered these questions several times on here. You are new and I understand that, but I do ask that we respect that contributors take the time to respond to each others posts, and it is a necessary etiquette here that we read them so we can progress a dialogue and not become repetitive.

    Thank you.

There are hundreds of young adults and teens trying to make it onto the Nashville scene each year. For example Taylor Swift, she wrote songs for many years before she became popular and Band Perry has worked for years and only this year been recognized. I do not believe any of these singers are rich yet. It takes big time money to record, pay musicians, rent studio time and other things. That being said, I also think Whitney is an honestly sweet person who thought she would be able to help the investigation with her many contacts. And I am sure that happened to some extent. However at one point TBI wanted her to scale back her involvement so as to keep the focus on Holly and I think she has done that. As far as the case, I believe that TBI and local LE know what they are doing. I think the massive anyone can help searches in the early days were there attempts at finding a wounded Holly and getting her help quickly. As the days have passed and they have not found her, I think that they have persons of interest but want to trip them up or catch them in a way that will not cause the person to flee. The Bobo family seems to have resigned themselves to that as well as they can. At least that is what I gleaned from the statement through the AP. It does seem frustrating and we all want to hear good news or at least that a perp has been arrested. I truly believe it will happen but maybe not on our time. These officers know things and have theories and they are working behind the scene. Let’s just all pray that whoever the perp is that he will not be able to stay under the microscope and we will get a confession. I still believe that this is someone who knows Holly and not a crime of opportunity. This is my opinion.

I read somewhere in time that Clint Bobo did in fact take a poly. My thoughts on that is if it was a good poly they would have shouted it out. The silence is deafening.

A passed poly would be a wonderful time to take the focus off of the family. Many in the blog world have a lot of questions about that morning and what happened.

Perhaps the story has changed and perhaps as in the old Chinese Telephone game the telling of the story has changed.

John Walsh of America’s Most Wanted has stressed the need for polys. I can’t believe they haven’t taken them and I can’t believe if they passed them they haven’t revealed that.

    Hummm I say. Hummm.

Actually Elizabeth, John Walsh would tell you if asked, he has no knowledge as to whether or not anyone took a polygraph. He would also tell you that LE is not in the habit of discussing results either way-

I just want to throw out there that all of us are about going crazy with no info being revealed from LE. But they are probably doing the best they can. In Kyron Horman’s case, LE sure didn’t talk much either. It drives us all crazy because we care and want this solved.

But as hard as it is for us, think of the Bobos and Holly’s community and friends. When your child, friend, neighbor, niece, or cousin is missing, a minute is an eternity. Three weeks seems longer than an eternity. The physical and emotional drain on this family has got to be excruciating.

My point is that we all want just a crumb of information from LE and they just may not be able to share it. It stinks, but it stinks the worst for Holly’s loved ones. Praying for them….

I think that her cousin offering a large reward (if she had the available funds, and was so inclined) would be a very bad idea, and possibly set a trend for future abductions of rather distant relations of “rich” or “famous” people. If the parents were wealthy, then I would suspect this was a kidnapping for ransom. Start paying people who kidnap cousins of the wealthy (or perceived wealthy), and a lot more people will likely come up missing. I don’t think many people would want to acknowledge being the relative of a “star”, if that were the case.

In response to the multiple posts from various people suggesting that it is somehow incumbent upon Whitney (that’s her name, right? I’m not familiar with her) to offer her money because her first cousin was abducted (likely by someone who had an agenda that was different than financial)- How absurd. Expecting a cousin to offer up her earnings to a kidnapper who has not asked for a ransom. It is my opinion that those who believe that Whitney has some duty to offer up her earnings, and/or that it would be of any help to Holly, are using flawed reasoning/logic.

We called him our dogson and he was treated just as a human. You had to be careful to not leave the bathroom door ajar when you go to bathe as he would jump in each time the water turned on, walked on a leash with pride, let the neighboors cat move in on us and she slept in his lap. Oh, he is so missed and the funny stories live on and on. I’m getting better, not crying every 5 seconds. He developed CHF this year and he left before he had to suffer. And respectfully this old fashioned telling nothing because of the integrity of the investigation is not working.

Rumors are everywhere that Clint took and failed that poly. The internet is a buzz with the chatter.

Case in point for all the secrecy would be the Morgan Harrington case. You remember well how everything was kept a secret by VSP. That didn’t work. Morgans killer still enjoys Thanksgiving dinner with his family.

Finally Dateline did a program and gave a lot of information that should have been given early on.

Only because of the parents of Morgan has Familial DNA testing been approved in the state of VA.

Only because Blink kept this site open with news of Morgan when most other ones shut down will we know some of the truth of what happened to Morgan and keep her case alive.

Could the story have had a different ending if those Dateline facts and a drawing of what Morgan looked like when she left for the concert.

It is going onto a month now and still no answers about where Holly cold be.

Personally I think they are chasing their tails and their stradegy is not working.

Things need to change if we are to find these missing women.

As much as we all want to know what is going on I feel that the “silence is golden”. If LE in fact knows who did this, the more public statements they make about POIs or evidence the more it could hurt any case they are trying to put together…especially if they end up trying a case without Holly being recovered.

On the flip side…I’m starting to regret ever finding this web site because I’m the type of person that wants to know everything and figure things out. I just don’t have the time to devote to it like some of you do so reading the posts where it seems someone has hit upon an accurate assumption or thought but the details can’t be posted (for good reason, I agree)…it just drives me nuts not knowing what it is! “Most other US States reveal their missing persons statistics on their websites”.. IMO, the reason their not made public in Tennessee is due to the embarrassment to the Tennessee Bureau of Intelligence: an oxymoron..IMO.
A pre-abduction plan should have been in place, yet it wasn’t.. The most valuable and free resource: ‘The American People’ is being squandered. This antiquated strategy in missing persons investigations only leads to innocent victims lives lost and cold cases..

Regarding my previous post on reward money and Whitney Duncan, I did not say that anyone was obligated to put up money. As someone else pointed out, maybe she really doesn’t have anything because her career is just starting. Or maybe there are legal reasons. The woman is obviously in this nightmare with the rest of Holly’s friends an family, and I meant absolutely no offense to her. In retrospect, I should have focused my input on my opinion that if they want someone to talk, the reward to do so has to be life-changing.

I’m embarrassed to say I spent some time last night poking around in the friends lists on fb. There is one name I’m very surprised has not been discussed on this site or any other I’ve looked at. Is there an etiquette for posting “initials” or something, or is it preferred we just keep such observations to ourselves for now? I don’t want to offend anyone else. :)

I think I follow cases like Holly’s because I’m waiting for one with a happy ending. I so hope Holly’s is that case.

  24. Julie says:

If a person will take her and possibly kill her, and they are walking around free…doesn’t that make the rest of us in danger? Even if it is a boyfriend or ex boyfriend if they are walking around and they have possibly killed once, there is a GREAT chance they will do it again. Do any of her ex’s have a history of violence, and is LE checking with ex girl friends etc? I was married to someone with a bad temper and still believe he is capable of murder…

  25. MackiezMom says:

@Kate: You may be correct. It may be that *if* someone had information that would help to locate or recover Holly, an enormous reward that was life-changing, might just encourage them in that direcction. The problem with that is that it incentivizes kidnapping. I don’t know who *knows something*, if anyone (besides the perp), but I have a gut feeling that any parties with information have a vested interest in that information remaining unknown to LE (whether it is bc of them being a family member to a perp, or their own financial or other well-being or gain). In a risk-benefit analysis, I think that offering up enormous sums of money in order to locate/recover a kidnap victim sets a precedent that would put many in harm’s way.

Blink, what is your opinion regarding offering large rewards in this type of situation, where you have a suspected “known” (to victim) perp, in a crime that was (apparently) not financially motivated? Does money usually bring those with knowledge forward?

    TIA

Also, Blink, is it legally required that if someone is named a person of interest that he/she then has a right to know details of the case? I thought I read this somewhere during the first days of the Kyron Horman case. So if you name a POI, the POI may wind up letting info out you don’t want let out yet.

Also, I don’t think you can make anyone take a polygraph test, Janieha, regardless of whether or not they have a lawyer. It’s called the Fifth Amendment. Blink, feel free to correct me if I’m wrong.

I may have done a poor comparison, but the girl in the photo resembles Natalie’s profile picture on Facebook. Either this online article improperly captioned the photograph of the girls wearing winter hats or Holly does have a sister. Nevertheless these young women are related.

By the way, NB is Facebook friends with a woman who has the same name as JD’s mother.

Is any of this information accurate, Blink? Thank you for all that you do. You have great insight.

IDK if she would of known anything and that could be why it’s not been brought up

Just wanted to offer an explanation as to why the picture incorrectly identified Natalie and Holly as sisters and caused so much confusion. I am also friends with several of her friends, all of which do the same thing. I believe most of the pictures used for publication were obtained through various facebook pages…and jmo, that is where the confusion originated.

I read this post from someone and its about the search effort can you explain it ?

“I live 30 minutes from where Holly lived. I went the day after she was abducted and helped search for her. I can tell you this much. This is the strangest case ever. When I got there everything was so hush hush. I was part of a group of 50 or so waiting to go down to search. There were already 170 some odd down at the edge of the woods already just waiting. We waited around all day and the TBI never gave the word for us to search. There were higher up people in the search and rescue and local police that mentioned a few things that just did not add up. Holly’s brother’s statement has changed several times. Her parent’s story has changed a time or two. Her mother did not have one tear from that fake display she put on. She has several Facebook pages devoted to the search for her but noone is allowed to discuss anything, only pray. If you attempt to discuss anything, they report you to the TBI as a possible suspect. The police refuse to release the 911 calls, refuse to release blood test results, brother refuses polygraph, parents refuse polygraph, family members continue to leak bogus info to the press saying the brother has been ruled out as a suspect and he passed a polygraph. The TBI said yesterday that he refused the polygraph along with his parents and that noone has been ruled out as a suspect.
I’m wondering why the governor of TN has offered up $50,000 of taxpayer money as a reward. I’m wondering why her rich famous cousin is not putting up any money. I’m wondering why people are selling t-shirts for this girl and her mother said that all of the money will go to Holly if she’s found alive. I’m wondering why the bloodhounds never found her scent at all”.

    Thanks
    Matthew

    No, but It is false.

Find it odd that in the initial frenzy the mother never called Holly on her phone. She’s told by a neighbor her daughter was heard screaming, was alarmed enough to get a ride home, call 911, and call Clint but never called Holly???? As a matter of fact NO ONE calls Holly??? I find that impossible to believe. Holly had a cell phone. This was a common form of communication in the family. The mother was a phone person, had been on the phone with others(her mother, and Holly’s boyfriend) even though it was very early. The first thing I would have done would have been to call my daughter if I thought she was in danger. Then she says she forgot her cell phone at work. Most mothers would have been reluctant to set the cell phone down for even a second under the circumstances. No way they’re “forgetting” their cell pone at that point and getting in a car. Uppermost in their mind would be to stay in communication. I find the absence of any calls to Holly alarming to say the least. Had thought Holly was taken by someone familiar with her and her family who perhaps needed medical assistance they may not have wanted reported, but have to wonder about some things that just seem very “off” to me.
