The Jennifer Kesse Case: Six Years of Fears, Tears and Degrees Heat Up The Hunt

Last evening, 6 Years ago at 10:40 PM, Jennifer Kesse’s cell phone battery was removed.

Experts from the newly formed SMART panel concur it was likely removed by the person or persons responsible for her disappearance.

As chronicled in an expose  last week by www.blinkoncrime.com,  current leads are pointing to further investigation of Jennifer’s professional associations and colleagues at Central Florida Investments.

On November 15, 2005, Jennifer’s promotion to Manager of Mortgage Process Engineering  was announced.

Kesse Family Photo

While there is no known indication her responsibilities included corporate real estate acquisition and divestitures, www.blinkoncrime.com’s investigation into her disappearance has uncovered a very notable corporate transaction worthy of a  Made-off* award.

Is this the meeting Jennifer missed that prompted the call by a colleague to her Mother Joyce?

The very morning Jennifer disappeared,  under the direction of CFI’s CEO-  David Siegel- the company sold an undeveloped parcel of commercial land for 4.7million dollars on GrandNational Drive .  The financing agreement was finalized on January 24th and the sales contracts were signed two days later.

Joyce , Don & Associates agreed to pay interest-only installments of 10% on the 4.2million balance monthly until the third year anniversary; at which time a balloon payment for the entire remaining amount was due and payable.  That is like the zeppelin of balloons in commercial real estate without so much as a plat plan or wetland study.

Who agreed to fund the acquisition for JD&A?  Central Florida Investments.

Why CFI would to carry that amount of debt with no “win” on the balance sheet at the start of the decline in home sales leading to lack of funds for time shares, I have no idea.  Why CFI would agree to such a proposal without appropriate due diligence is the next head scratcher.  As the new process improvement specialist- did this come under Jennifer Kesse’s review?

Joy, Don & Associates was the latest brainchild of Osmond Decoteau, and Donna Rachael Daniels.

The short version:  After the dirty duo bought up 2 remaining parcels on International Drive they did not have funds for, Decoteau & Daniels were indicted in 2008 for wire fraud.   Both were accused of bilking investors, landowners and residents of over $20million dollars for properties in Brooklyn, California and Florida.

What started out as the slum-lord version of ponzi worked so well the Trinidad native decided to migrate South and rip off wealthier folks in a warmer climate.  Makes sense if the villagers are crossing the Brooklyn bridge  with torches and  you have been unsuccessful in selling it thus far.

Decoteau is currently in Federal prison awaiting an order for the govt to forcibly medicate him to be competent to stand trial.

Bernie Madoff walks past his cell and mutters “underachieving slacker” under his breathe on his way to Canasta in the rec lounge.

Daniels is free on a $500K bond and is believed to be cooperating with prosecutors.  An unsuccessful hand-written bankruptcy filing was dismissed.  Deconteau set up his family members to buy the property at a loss under the now defunct  Ambeeka  Holding Corp.

In the end CFI got the property back by default.

Members of Decoteau’s extended family also own a timeshare in Westgate’s Sand Lake Resort; the sale of which was processed during Jennifer’s tenure at CFI.

NOT THE VALET

Just about the same time Jenn’s enrapt co-worker Johnny Campos arrives at the CFI offices in Ocoee, the mystery suspect , the only named suspect in her disappearance to date, is parking her car next to the pool at the Huntington On The Green apartments.

He pulls in, quickly reverses and straightens the wheel, waits about 32 seconds and makes his way past 3 separately angled security cameras making no attempt to hide his appearance.

Theories abound about his attire.  Cook, painter, security patrol, bike runner or messenger.

New leads acquired in Jennifer’s case by www.blinkoncrime.com have presented a new possibility.

Is the video a break or a bumper?  We are talking cricket-speak.

While it is not known if she was alone or with a friend,  Jennifer visited the Cricketers Arms 2 month prior to her disappearance.

Could the man parking Jennifer’s car at noon on January 24th, 2006 be wearing a cricket uniform?

Left Image Surveillance Footage

Cricket is a major fave among the younger Euro-set in Orlando as well as the pub named in their honor- The Cricketers Arms.  In 2006 “Cricketers” was located on Industrial Drive and recently re-opened on W. Sand Lake Rd, adjacent to the Sand Lake Resorts owned by Westgate.

* Made-off.  Get it, like made off with cash?  Nobody laughed when I said he was born into it.  Not remotely funny, but the irony is there.  I am referring to irony as in, the bars that keep him in prison, locked up.

You know Blink, I keep wondering if OPC interviewed the dancers, bouncers & bartenders that worked at the teet bars on OBT the night Jenn disappeared. What about if it was a sex crime? If so, then chances are the perp visited one of those establishments then went on the hunt to find his release. I still agree with you in that I believe this is an acquaintance of her’s, probably even the guy you uncovered, but if anything to be thorough I do wonder if ke covered the undesirables on OBT…

Ran across something else that could lend to your theory of Michelle Parker’s disappearance being a copycat. Remember the SWAT raid at Dale’s parent’s house to see if Michelle was there? I just came across an article informing a SWAT raid on a boarding home in the same area due to a phone call tip informing Jennifer Kesse was being held there against her will. Hmmm.

Yep, owner is a mortgage broker, notice a trend? Please don’t post his information, nothing was found. He does have a rap sheet a mile long, not sure who the hell would do business with someone like that, but anyhoo..

“The primary search area was in thick brush behind the Knights Inn and the McDonald’s on Orange Blossom Trail near Oak Ridge Road.

A tip triggered the search, but police would not identify that person or say when the tip was made, stating only that it was “credible.”

“There’s a reason why they’re here,” Jones said.

Jones said police have searched this field in the past; however, she said this is the first time they actually performed a dig at the site.

Records show this is the third such search in nine months for Kesse. In the past, the Kesse family knew about them well in advance and helped organize them, but this time was different.

Drew Kesse, Jennifer Kesse’s father, received a call just before the dig started, he said. A source tipped off investigators to the Orange Blossom Trail location, and search dogs alerted law-enforcement officers they needed to dig.

Authorities have told them little else.”

Ok now wait a sec… Who’s crooked here? Are the two original detectives Browning & Gause crooked OR is the OPD crooked? Did these two detectives REALLY NOT keep their notes OR is the OPD at fault for hiding something. How do two of the original detectives in Jennifer Jesse’s case BOTH RETIRE on the SAME day only 9 months into Jenn’s disappearance and end up starting a private security consulting company TOGETHER? Maybe something happened with the OPD to make them mad enough to leave… Kevin Beary is there too. Blink, I’m really confused. This isn’t right…

Donor Pulling $100,000 Reward Money In Kesse Case

    POSTED: 5:28 pm EST March 7, 2006
    UPDATED: 11:48 pm EST March 7, 2006

ORLANDO, Fla. — An anonymous resident who donated $100,000 of reward money in the Jennifer Kesse missing person case is pulling the cash after a “behind the scenes” conflict with Crimeline, according to a Local 6 News report.

Kesse, 24, was last heard from on Jan 23 in Orlando and her car was found days later near her condominium near the Mall at Millenia in Orlando.

Since her disappearance, a $115,000 reward has been offered in the case.

Tuesday, the anonymous donor said the $100,000 will be pulled by March 15. The move is supposed to help the case and force someone to come forward this month.

However, there is a behind the scenes conflict between the anonymous donor and Crimeline, Local 6 reporter Louis Bolden said.

The controversy lies in the condition to collect the reward, according to the report.

The donor has reportedly said from the time the donation was made that the money was to only to be paid if Jennifer Kesse is returned home safely, the report said.

But the money was turned over to Crimeline and the organization offers rewards for information leading to arrests even if the person is not returned.

“The donor tells Local 6 that if Crimeline does not want to play by his rules, he is taking his money back,” Local 6 reporter Louis Bolden said.

While the $100,000 donated money sits in Crimeline’s account, the interest goes back to Crimeline, which the donor also disagrees with.

The Kesse family continues to feel that the reward money is crucial in finding their daughter. They said when the donor pulls the cash they will work to raise more money.

Why say they didn’t keep their notes? Only way I’d believe they got rid of their notes is if there was a payoff. Seeing what this security consulting company is involved in past & present tells me they wouldn’t be hired if they weren’t trusted and good. So what gives? When did JC report his vehicle stolen? And from what location did he report the vehicle stolen? Has JC ever been to Jennifer’s condo? or has anyone asked him if he has been to the condo? Also I noticed there are about 7 car washes with a few miles of her condo, Have they all been contacted and asked if they have ever delivered or have had a set of keys waiting to be picked up after a detail around that time? Where would jennifer had dropped off a package(Friend’s cell)? A drop box close? or at work to be shipped out with UPS, FED EX? Also are there any survelliance cameras in close to JC’s home that may verify him leaving his residence at the suppossive time before punching into work that day?
I have been scrolling through and researching and I have not yet seen these questions answered.

Blink, I was interested in the comment you made to Marnie, wondering about the “market value of a 9 year old Taurus with 118K miles”. In reference to when JC’s Taurus was stolen/wrecked/totaled/whatever.

I looked it up on Kelley Blue Book and this is the approximate value of a 1997 Ford Taurus(you said nine years old in 2006, so I figured about 1997 by that):

$1,735 trade in value and $2,595 private party sale value (But these may have been slightly higher in 2006.)

Since we all know that insurance companies are NOT generous, I figure the most he got for that Taurus was probably about $2,000 max towards a new vehicle-especially with 118,000 miles on it.

Then I looked up the price of a new 2006 Infiniti and was shocked. A 2006 Infiniti M35x AWD 4-door sedan had a base price of $42,400.

Quite a discrepancy in price. That would mean he would have to fork over or finance about $40,000. That’s a lot of money….

Even today, the 2006 Infiniti still holds it’s value well, at about $15,000. They are definitely luxury cars.

Blink, do you have an iPhone or an iPad? there’s an app you can download called PSExress, short for PhitoShop Express lol. I loaded the valet’s pic onto it & I’m playing around with the sharpness & contrast. I can now see a small heel on pointy toe shoes whereas before thet looked like workbooks or skate shoes. I can also see the side part of the face now between the fence, but nothing major. I can see the bottom of the hair & it’s definitely shaved close. The hat is just like you described or else it’s some kind of beanie, otherwise the dude has some sort of weird flip going on lmao.

To all the Blinksters out there, I strongly suggest you check out this app if you have the option. I’m literally just playing around with it to see what I can see & it’s not the best but definitely an improvement over the original picture. Technology is always changing. imo, the Cricket/Valet guy is wearing a white shirt with ivory cricket pants, black cricket shoes and white socks. The shade difference between the shirt and pants could be a difference in fabric/opaqueness with both being white in color . . . but cricket pants do come in ivory.

From what I can tell doing a contrast increase, there is a ripple-treading on the bottom sole of the left shoe – - rubber grips/kleats, maybe, IDK.

ehow.com has learning/tutorial videos on cricket.

Here’s one tutorial video, produced at the cricket club in Nashville, Tennessee, uploaded June 2009.

On the right side of the tutor/gentleman speaking, away in the distance is a figure dressed in light colored clothing walking towards the tutor – - eventually, near the end of the video, the figure (a cricket player) shows up on the left side of the tutor . . . his cricket wear can then be seen, appearing similar to the “Valet”.

Also, the video cuts to some players on the field, 2 of which are also dressed similar:

    http://www.ehow.com/video_5113470_play-cricket.html

In this video from the same series, there is a closer look at the players starting at the 1:37 time mark:

    http://www.ehow.com/video_5113478_cricket-first-played_.html

And from what I have seen in googling, that is a dark-colored cricket hat on the “Valet” . . . so not necessarily a black hat.

  31. Doug says:

Are there any other photos of the person who parked her car, other than the one shown in this story? Can we view them in original format? Some clarity could have been lost when the comparison image was created.

RE: the car key. Not impossible to key codes, and cut a new key for a car. Any GM dealer parts department can access those codes using the vin number. Someone with connections inside a dealer, can get those codes in 5 minutes. I don’t remember if GM can track – if a request for a particular vin was processed. The codes are also printed on the new vehicle invoice. If she bought it new, most dealers enter the codes in the owner’s vehicle computerized file, at the selling dealer.

Additionally, the key for a Malibu, does not carry any security. It’s in the lock cylinder itself. No programming is necessary after cutting the blank.

The “original” video is a splice of 3 cameras.

Correct on the key/code. I have the VIN report on Jennifer’s car, yes, it tracks, and requests to “code” a key are specific to VIN.

Did the Police Dept. offer buy outs at the time that both officers retired? Having worked for govt. offices I know this is a normal end of fiscal year budget reducing measure used to filter out higher pay earners.

Not that I am aware of, no. Their comments to Mr.Kesse were that they were “going out on top” and that if Jennifer was not found that hunting season she would be found the next.

It was not a good experience for Mr. Kesse and I do not speak for him, but I am willing to bet he does not endorse the bio they present. That said, it does not appear that firm does much by transfer, movement and “sweep” security so for all I know they could be great at that.

Anymore you can tell us yet? I have seen some beautiful people that may be connected to the address.

Not in relation to that property of persons, I meant in general Ode.

Gosh Blink… I keep trying to find something… Anything… I thought the picture thing was good but as usual you’re ahead of the game :) . I tried something that this Sandy person did on a site I came across. She blew up the pictures by sections & increased the resolution. I blew it up in paint & saved it. Then I changed the resolution for my screen. Then I changed the contrast & the white shirt showed up as black & the pants stayed toward the tan/gray color. That’s the same it would look in a negative. White goes to black. So I’m stuck on the pants. If they were truly white wouldn’t they show as black in negative form like the shirt does? There’s also something on the sleeve of the shirt, either some kind of patch or tassel or something. This Sandy person blew it up & saw the same thing but I didn’t pay it any mind til I saw it myself during blowup. It was speculated that maybe the valet is somebody that works security. That’s what I thought til I saw your cricket info & the outfit in your picture. I have to wonder if Gause & Browning retired when they did as a ruse to cover for going undercover, especially if they think Jennifer’s disappearance may be linked to others. Do you think that scenario is possible? It could explain why they stayed on the file as part time and went to a security company…or is that how it always shows up when a cop retires? Could le have other videos that they haven’t released?

Side note: You mentioned one of them sat on the board for the retirement fund. My cousin Chuckie just retired last year – 25 years le! Anyway, he was going for 30 but retired early bc of govt cutbacks in le pension funds. Long story short but he’d get more money if he retired last year as compared to working 5 more years bc of the state our govt is in right now. Do you think these cops knew this and that could be a reason they retired only 9 months into Jenn’s investigation? They were both around 60 but just saying…

I really only know what Drew was told in regards to their retirement, but I do know that there is a mandatory 30 year service forced retirement program in Florida LE.

wpg – it does look like the soles are rippled. When I first blew them up I thought of all terrain shoes/sneakers…not smooth running shoes but rather something with traction for grass, dirt or pavement. There’s a short heel as well, definitely. I think Blink’s onto something with the cricket uniform. I’m still stuck on the pants though.

  38. wpg says:

    ; )
Like Ode, I also interpreted the “more later” to be on the inlaw and have also been waiting for the “more”.
    Okay . . . now scratching that location off the list . . .
    ; )

You got me on the smiley thing wpg.
Sorry, my bad on the more in ref to that location, I should have been more specific.

    No more smilies icons, Blink?

    Heh?

So will more in general be coming soon?

WE have things in the funnel, not sure they will be ripe in advance of tomorrow’s radio interview with Dana Pretzer, Drew Kesse and I, but working.

  41. Titch says:

30 year forced retirement, thanks Blink. So if somebody starts at 22, they’d by law have to retire le at 52 instead of staying on for clerical or consulting. Hmmm.

  42. Ode says:

wpg, don’t wink you will get your smiley back :)

  43. wpg says:

    Blink,
    Sigh, my bad . . . put a space between the characters . . . it’s been a while since last posting a smiley.
    ;)

    Titch,
I thought maybe it was the lighting with the sun overhead that gave a darker tone to the pants, because there are some lighter highlights on the top calf area of the extended left leg.

It would be helpful to know the color of the back of the sign on the fence – - bare metal or white – - for reference.

But, you could be right on the khaki.
    Okay, try this:

Go to the Nashville cricket site (where the ehow videos were done) . . . the group photo on the home page has both white and ivory toned attire, plus khaki-tone pants.

    http://www.nashvillecricketclub.com/

Take down the color saturation to black and white.
Increase the exposure a bit, decrease the brightness a bit.

The “khaki” pants look like the tone of the Valet’s pants, while the shirt stays white.

Now I don’t know what to think.

I’ve been away for a few days, just caught up on reading comments and have a lot to add/ask.

The original detectives on the case– the lack of notes, quitting at the height of a case, etc.– bothers me greatly. I would like to see the officer(s) who are now working on the case interview the original detectives and administer a polygraph. Perhaps we could find out if they truly took no notes, if they destroyed their notes, if other LE destroyed their notes, if they had pressure/influence from outside of LE, whether they received any payoffs from third parties for not taking notes, not processing Jenn’s condo or the scene at which her car was found, and/or for retiring. It would be nice if the original detectives would submit bank statements or tax filings– beginning with the year Jenn went missing through the present– for review. Where do these detectives live– is there any link to their housing, mortgage, etc. being owned/controlled/subsidized by CFI property management? Though this is an off-shoot of the larger task at hand (finding out what happened to Jenn), I do feel that whatever happened on the watch of the original detectives needs to be investigated, determined, and wrapped up so that the current investigators can move on or can gather some clues to help in solving the case.

another thought is that perhaps the original officers retired because after being shockingly negligent in their duties, it was better to get out while the getting was good (as they say) than to be disciplined and suffer professionally and/or financially.

The description of the officers’ skills include the statement that “As highly competent Homicide Detectives they have investigated over 300 murder cases and countless other investigations”(Tisch 1/29/12, 2:13 pm). Correct me if I’m wrong, but investigating cases is great but has no real relevance. Why aren’t they stating how many of those 300 murders or “countless other investigations” they actually resolved?? The description also says they are “award winning” but does not name the awards they have won. For all we know the awards are for employee of the month or perfect attendance in elementary school. Ugh.

I can’t help but think that the actions of the original detectives is a red flag at worst, a distraction at best, and needs to be put to rest. Why wouldn’t these men cooperate by submitting to a polygraph?

  45. BlackPearl says:

    Several other thoughts and questions:

1.) Have any of Jenn’s former coworkers reported having attended informal or last minute meetings outside of office hours— to prepare for a presentation or meeting? NO

2.) Have local car detailing companies been called and asked if they are willing to detail a car and then deliver it to a specified location? [Along this line, I was also wondering if any companies that are willing to do this have been asked if they ever have keys that are never picked up after the detailing and delivery... someone else mentioned this above] There are several companies like that.

3.) In regards to the partial print on the DVD player– is it possible that (A.) the bad guy moved it so that he could place Jenn across the back seat, (B) it somehow got dirty that night and needed to be washed/wiped down, or that (C.) the car detailer moved it to better vacuum or shampoo the upholstery of the car seats?

4.) Blink’s response to WPG 1/28/2012 at 6:10 pm– “he [valet] bypasses the exit of the complex and heads to the next condos”. I assume you mean that he heads to the next complex of condos– as in a separate corporate entity than HOG as opposed to a different set of condos at HOG. If the “next complex” means a different corporate entity, what corporation owns it? Someone mentioned that CIF owned properties all around HOG. Also, where is the surviellance video footage from the “next complex”? Also, does the valet’s path– passing the condo complex’s exit and going towards the next condos– indicate that he is familiar with the complex(s) or the area? It seems a good move for him to avoid the 4 lane road in favor of a much smaller and less trafficed road– fewer witnesses. Where is he going??? Same complex building to the left.

5.) JC’s car was reported stolen– surely there is a police report for this. Where was the car reported stolen? Is the location important? When was the car reported stolen? Is the date important– was something happening with Jennifer’s case at that point in time? Also, in regards to the car accident that totalled the car– when did that happen and does that date correspond with any actions related to Jennifer’s case (perhaps “Adam” getting chatty with LE or LE snooping arount the office)? Also, how was the car totaled? Was another vehicle involved or did JC total it on his own? What part of the car was damaged most heavily? Could the site of the damage somehow correspond to a place where evidence (hair, fibers, blood, etc.) could have been found– i.e. the trunk/rear of the car? I am comfortable saying what I already have- that the report and stolen vehicle found at the salvage facility is immediately following a polygraph by Adam.

  46. wpg says:

Ode, you are a sweetheart! :)

  47. Rose says:

I endorse Blackpearl paragr 2 with poly component.
while we know these were squeaky clean officers during their career, we also know they had retirement associated pecuniary motivations. If nothing to hide, I expect they’d want to cooperate with LE now to establish bona fides.

  48. GeorgiaDad says:

I bothers me that the perp(s) went to great lengths to make sure that no personally identifiable evidence was left behind, but made no effort to conceal that a crime had occurred.

Why clean the car and return it? Did the perp(s) have extreme confidence in the cleaning crew that no evidence be left behind? Why not dump the car? I wonder if the car’s final placement was a message to someone who lived at that complex (“keep quiet or you’re next” type of thing).

I also lean toward there being two conspirators, or one bad guy and an a helper. It is hard for a single individual to juggle moving two cars around. If cabs or a detailing service were used, there would be too much risk for evidence leaking out from a cabbie or the detailer.

As for the person driving the car to its final location, a detailer would generally have a ride to pick him up. Possibly his ride could have been at a neighboring community out of sight, but one wouldn’t do this unless there were a suggestion of illegal activity (but then why wear a distinctive outfit).

The lack of any notes by the detectives is mind-boggling. Even if they were on the take, they should have left something. I can understand one of them accidentally throwing out notes when cleaning out his desk for the last time, but not both.

I generally disbelieve conspiracy theories (and tend to quietly snicker at lot of the theories I have read here over the last years), but in this case, I am open to a conspiracy. Not a major conspiracy like jewel thieves switching luggage with her in the Caribbean, but at least two people know what happened.

lol at conspiracy theories- I hear ya.

On this one, I think more than 2 people know what happened, and I think they have friends that have been known to make friends and control events. AND.. nobody is crossing them until they have a compelling reason to save their own asses, imo.

my first impression looking at the photo was that it was a woman trying to disguise her features. it is so hard to tell much from that single shot though. The shoes do look way too big also, which seems strange.
I assume everyone knows the hat and shoes were drawn in on the cricket photo — so the large size of the shoes is not necessarily a cricket thing.

They were colored black, not drawn in, just to clarify because “shopping” them out was distorting the image so we opted to use what was there.

I know some have thought this was a woman, but for the life of me I am not seeing that at all, that person has a huge gait and I saw nothing remotely fem in that posture or walk.
