Search for Isabel Celis Leads To Cadaver Alert In Home And Local Landfill- Family Barred From Home

Tucson, AZ-  Missing since Saturday morning around 8 am, six year old Isabel Celis was believed to be taken from the safety of her bedroom sometime after 11PM on Friday evening.

After Isa’s Mother Becky Celis left for work as a pediatric nurse at Tuscon Medical Center her Father told police he went to wake her at about 8am and she was not in her bed.   The blinds in her room were askew and her window was open.

The screen to her window had been removed.  Sergio Celis’s call t0 911 has not been released.

Early this morning,  the FBI deployed a scent tracking dog and a cadaver canine to the Celis home.   The family was then asked to make other living arrangements for the near future as the dogs produced evidence requiring further investigation.

Police Chief Roberto Villasenor would not reveal what was found at the home of first-grader Isabel Mercedes Celis.

Police have not said what that is,  but sources close to the family not willing to be identified have confirmed to www.blinkoncrime.com that the specially trained cadaver dog  alerted to the detection of cadaverine.

The home is now being treated as a crime scene.

Police have not ruled out the parents as possible suspects, nor have they commented on whether or not the residence of a sex offender in the immediate neighborhood has been searched after obtaining new warrants today that have been sealed.   Another residence on the same street as the Celis family was searched this morning.

Late this afternoon, investigators headed to the landfill where the trash from the neighborhood was emptied Saturday prior to police having an opportunity to secure the scene.

Isabel’s disappearance is eerily similar to that of 10 month old Lisa Irwin , missing from her home since October 3, 2011 and has not been found.

Becky and Sergio Celis,  Isabel’s parents have not spoken publicly about their daughter’s disappearance.

    I am not the only one who thought the neighbor who’s son said that she is alive and comming home looked suspicious. How close we’re they to this family and I have felt that it is one of her brothers friends or someone he knew from the start. I thought it was strange how the two boys acted In the Vedio. And if she knew them as her brothers friends she would have opened the window for one of her brothers friends but not an adult. Imo

    I am going to be very cautious about allegations against children- there is not one shred of evidence one of those boys or her brothers were involved whatsoever. SHould that ever change, it would become fair items for discussion, until then, I respectfully do not want to see that here.

    Hmmm, can’t tell if G6 is continuing to walk back to the left, say for instance to the Moon Cactus, or if G6 went to the front of the dumpster to walk in the direction of the Celis home.

    Does G6 have a slight back slouch?

    Thoughts, anyone?

    WPG thank you so muc for finding the vids for me. Those two are just a little hinky to me. Blink, if C6 is related to Isa case do you think he has commited crime and disposing of her or evidence or is he on his way there to the house. Maybe he parked inside the wall thinking he cold get her quietly that far and transport her to another location?

    Not prepared to speculate on him outside of the fact that LE knows who he is.

    According to Fox News, the search has been extended to Mexico.

    If something happened at the ball game, why would the mother not know about it? Makes one question the safety proceedures for little ones when at the ball park.

    There is a ton of human trafficing going on in this area. Could this child have been taken to be sold?

    ATG- my take on that was that the “connection” was a media flub based on an internal memo that went to different Mexican states announcing the disappearance of Isabel, which given the proximity to the border, makes sense.

    That said, everything is on the table right now, and nothing has been ruled out.

    I personally do not believe there is a trafficking issue here.

    YES! one of the first things that stood out to me, and also appears to have a white shirt on (possibly a white button up shirt with collar) also find the height of the person familiar (ish) dark hair as well.

  10. Nana12 says:

    Doesn’t anyone see the activity going on over the wall to the left as the group of five people pass by. It seems like there is someone by the shadow of the light post ducked down waiting for the group to go by. At the mark between 4 to 11 seconds you can see movement going on. Then at about 50-52 seconds another person comes from around the wall walking towards the person that was ducked down.Looks like that person has a white shirt and dark pants. Then you can barely see,but there is movement definitely behind that wall with those two people.Pay close attention to whats going on after the group has passed by,take your focus off the group of people walking and just watch closely to the building on the left over the wall. Then at about 54-58 seconds you see some kind of activity going on with those two people.Then again at 1 minute and 12-14 seconds the one person with the white shirt goes back around where he had came from. This looks pretty suspicious to me. HOPEFULLY THE POLICE TAKE ANOTHER CLOSER LOOK AT THE SURVALLIANCE VIDEO AGAIN AND ZOOM IN TO SEE WHATS OVER THE WALL. MAYBE SOMEONE FROM THAT GROUP OF FIVE HEARD OR SAW SOMETHING UNUSUAL AS THEY PASSED BY.Could be something,could be nothing but worth the effort to investigate. I have a 6 year old myself and it breaks my heart. I have seen this video over and over at least 12 times I even got a magnifying glass and I tell you there is something going on back there.

    Nana 12- My dear lady, you have to read all the comments, lol.

    Wow. Is that supposed to be Isa’s window? Or is it one of another family member’s bedroom? I thought her window was across from the neighbors, not the parking lot? Whomever it is he appears in height to be about 4-6 inches lower than the top of the double-hung. How tall would one guess that is?

  12. T. Ruth says:

    Okay, now I’m totally lost. This report shows a different double-hung than than the neighbor did, this one appears to face a road/alley where the reporter is standing, so, I’m guessing there are two double-hungs on either side of this corner of the building the house. Which one was the one that had the screen askew?

  16. Mermaid14 says:

    Just some speculation and nothing more. The cadaver dog situation seems to change the picture entirely. I am also beginning to think what the lady neighbor heard was the father out looking. I do not believe this was a stranger abduction. Also, again, it’s just me, but I always looked in on my children, no matter what, no matter when, it was just second nature to me. Sometimes, I would even look to make sure they were breathing! It bothers me that the mother said she did not look in the child’s room before she left for work. Also that the child wasn’t dressed for bed but put there wearing clothes from a baseball game which would not have been that clean. Trying not to be judgemental, but it’s hard in this case. She’s only 6.

    We can discuss forever those five and the other one but if they had anything at all to do with this they would be arrested. Le has had those tapes since the morning after Isabel was abducted.

    Lots of speculation but no facts. Dogs bark and roam the neighborhood all the time so nobody thinks it strange when they bark. Dad seems to be an irresponsible dog owner and just went to court for a couple of charges re dogs. People walking up and down the streets and ally’s into the night.

    Who, what and why did Isabel disappear without a trace?

    I would like to take a shot at the outer circle of family. What do they know.

    Seems like nobody is talking since the first day when Moms Nephew made his statement and the family told him to…be still.

  24. GraceintheHills says:

    What a tragic case. Another child who appears to be have been abducted from the safety of her home. This would not be the first time. It may seem that perps brazenly entering homes to snatch kids are becoming more common. Then again, this practice goes as far back as the Lindbergh baby kidnapping – the very case that got the FBI involved in all child abduction cases even if the child is not taken across state lines.

    I am as befuddled as all of you are regarding how this happened. But, I do have some thoughts. Just my two cents’ worth…

    I didn’t find anything particularly odd in the parents’ demeanor during their statement. Every individual handles these horrific crises differently, period. The only mother I felt was flat out lying the moment I saw her interview was Susan Smith. She sounded like a three year old who fake-cries to manipulate her mommy.

    Btw, wearing a rosary around the neck is not unheard of in certain Catholic cultures. I have often seen Latino families in my area wear the rosary around their necks during family crises.

    Isabel is a beautiful child; unfortunately just the kind of child violent predatory sex offender’s like to target, imo. Someone mentioned a “high risk” RSO lives a few doors down. Does anyone know the nature of this offender’s crime? I have also read that several homes in the area have been searched. I know LE are doing some heavy duty parallel investigations. And, we all know there are those SO out there just waiting to commit their first crime. So LE must cast a wide net. There may be lots of drugs in the area, but I don’t think this was a drug-related abduction, and certainly not child trafficking. I know of one Mexican/American drug case gone wrong where the perp came back and took the man’s young son and killed him, not his daughter.

    For me, this stirs up very sad memories of the Danielle Van Dam case. She was a 7 y/o Girl Scout who sold her neighbor David Westerfield GS cookies before he targeted her. Danielle’s father put her to bed at around 10:30 pm while her mother was out partying with her girlfriends. Mom didn’t check on Danielle when she got home, so Danielle was not missed until the next morning. The mother carried tremendous guilt for not checking. But, no one is perfect. Westerfield knew the mom was drinking and allegedly smoking weed that night, and he took full advantage of that. The public was not sympathetic to these parents because of their “lifestyle”, and believed the father was the primary POI when in fact LE later admitted Westerfield was their prime suspect just three days after the offense. Danielle had a devoted Weimaraner dog, yet Westerfield was able to enter the house at night, not disturb the dog, and take her from her bed. I believe he entered through an unlocked door. He was an engineer who had no arrest history, but when LE found child porn on his computer that jackass/POS tried to blame the porn on his own son. There are no words for this type of human garbage. He is where he should be – San Quentin’s Death Row. You cannot rehabilitate a violent, predatory child killer, period. As long as they can draw a breath, they will find a way to re-offend. JMO.

    Re: dogs – I heard one repeat burglary offender admit he carried dog treats with him when he committed his crimes. He always “cased” the home first, checking for dogs, open doors or windows. He told me that big dogs were the easiest to “shut up” with treats. He said, “It’s those yappy little dogs that keep me out of a house. They NEVER shut up.” It is disgusting how far criminals will go to violate you and/or your home. Btw, I do have a very yappy little dog who won’t back down for anything, and a big one who would hand the perp my pearls if he offered her a treat. There was some evidence that Westerfield may have befriended the Van Dam’s dog. That’s how far these monsters will go. Could this have happened in this case?

    Re: the potential female witness who heard male voices at 6:30 AM and the Celis’s dogs barking – imo, this could be a red herring. Who abducts a child when everyone is up and getting ready for work, and stands in the alley talking while dogs are frantically barking? I guess it is possible these were the perps, but…I doubt it. When one wants to get away a crime, they generally do NOT stick around. During one of the press conferences, LE said they have been able to rule some scenarios out. This may have been one of those, if the men who were talking voluntarily came forward and gave statements to LE. You just never know.

    I also think it’s important to remember there are so many times when LE has a prime suspect but will repeatelyd tell the public no one has been ruled out. I can only pray this is the case.

    I could be wrong, but this sounds like a targeted abduction carried out by a predatory pedophile who wanted this child so much he was willing to take a huge risk and enter the house when he KNEW the family was home.

    Praying for the entire Celis family and their beautiful Isabel. May she soon be back in your arms.

  25. GraceintheHills says:

    Sorry for the typos. It’s past my bedtime. Thank you, Blink, for advocating for this precious child. All you, Blinksters, stay on the trail of this monster. This perp(s) will be flushed out – somehow, someway.

  26. LaurieO says:

    Some of you question why Isabel would be in the same clothes for bed that she wore to the park. One person asked why there were pillows in the red disabled car. I don’t know this family, but I can tell you that, with my own kids, I have let my kids plop into bed in their sweaty clothes because they are too tired to be bathed and will be bathed the next day. Or maybe their pjs are in the wash. Also, if my husband is the one to put the kids to bed, he sure didn’t care what they wore!!

    As for pillows in the car, that may not mean anything either. When you have kids, life is just busier and things that seem out of place may not be to that family. I have had Legos jam my printer as well as get into the dirty clothes basket, found the neighbor child’s socks in the street in front of my house, just threw out 2 cups of egg dye with empty egg shells in them from under my sink, and used to have a rabbit that carried dominoes and would hide them under the couch!!

    My point is that there are oddities in each family. They may or may not mean anything to this case.

    I do wonder if there is someone involved in drugs or a Mexican gang that prompted this. Not saying it is a drug investigation, but sometimes revenge is taken for things gone wrong or bad. I just pray she is somewhere safe and just needs to be rescued. As for G6, let’s hope that that person can shed some serious light on this whole mess.

    True, Blink, it is similar, except Lisa’s neighbor didn’t go on a media blitz like this neighbor/”potential witness”.
    Just sayin’.

    wpg- for one reason, the neighbor was drinking with Bradley, and was having an affair behind her husband’s back with a Bradley relative.

    But as far as Sturdevant, she was approached by the media, she did not contact them, several days into the investigation. I found her very credible and unwavering in her account.

    I think store owner said LE called at 830 am the abduction day, came to the store & saw the tapes that morning.
    If I interpreted/remember store owner correctly, slouch-figure was known by noon imo. I believe dogs sniffed dumpster & hit same smells in the home. That dictated the early landfill search is my guess.

  30. wpg says:

    Blink, I can see now how my comment gave the impression of giving kudos to Lisa’s neighbor . . . my apologies. I had given her ZERO kudos from the beginning of Lisa’s disappearance, even before I had read a while ago about her and the marine cousin (whatta guy).

    As far as Isabel’s neighbor, until her story that she gave to multiple media outlets can be corroborated, I continue to find it incredible that 2 men, with so many dogs supposedly going “nuts” and “crazy”, would stop outside a window and have a conversation if they were involved – - if SHE heard THEM over her barking dogs who were supposedly in the bedroom with her, then THEY would have heard HER DOGS barking and imo, would have fled in fear of someone looking out the window.

    “Neighbor: ‘Surreal and scary’ to think something like this may have happened next door”
    http://www.hlntv.com/video/2012/04/26/key-witness-isabel-celis-disappearance

    Perhaps I’m just a little jaded these days with all the missing children who have yet to be found . . . and no apparent successful leads.

    Let’s see what today’s 2pm Tuscon-time LE presser brings.
    Looks like last night, LE was conducting something in front of the telephone pole in the church parking lot – - the telephone pole where in the surveilance video, G6 person was seen behind the fence of.

    It’s a quick 2 second spot, but at the 1:53 mark it shows LE at the pole, with the media camera filming it from the G6 side of the fence – - the parking lot beside the Celis home.

    Video also shows 2 LE at the door of the first house on E Cooper Street talking to a resident with blonde hair. The house is closest to the exit of the church parking lot where the group of 5 had left, and is across the street from the house whose backyard faces the backyard of Isabel’s house.

    http://www.azfamily.com/news/Isabel-Celis-benefit-concert-in-Scottsdale-Tucson-girl-still-missing-149449105.html

    What is LE doing at the pole?

    Processing it. He touched it.

    I agree with you 100% that I do not think Isa was taken at 6:28AM, and those voices are of men investigating the open window. What I continue to find odd, is that had that been my child, not locatable and I came upon that scene, I would have been screaming out of it and up and down the neighborhood for her by name. She was 6. It was a low window she could easily get off of by herself.

    Why would one automatically assume an abduction and not a child activity of some kind?

    Someone in LE asked me the other day what my very first impression was when I saw the press conference, I mean the first thing that flashed into my head.

    My answer was hoax. My next answer was hoax or parents know exactly who has her or what happened to her.

    Am I saying this is a hoax for some agenda? No, I am fairly confident that LE would have weeded that out by now, and these people are not idiots to risk prison for such nonsense.

    B

  31. Rose says:

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Malty, I agree. LE does the investigations, not the reporters who do the interviews – so making statements to the media does not take time or focus away from the investigation. I don’t know what to think about that. But, iIrc, Holly Bobo’s parents didn’t give any “interviews” (but did make a statement) in those first few weeks. I think it was a bit later that they talked to Nancy Grace, and even then they answered questions in a vague manner. Sometimes I think the parents do not want to utter a single word that might compromise the investigation.
    Grace- in yesterdays press conference, the LT informed the media that the Celis’s were told that their appearances and interviews within the National and local media would significantly increase the number of tips generated and exposure to Isa’s case. They declined without explanation. LE has passed on all media requests and offered to help them facilitate any of them, and attend if requested.
    I was floored. It is the equivalent of saying that although they believe that their daughter was abducted by a stranger and is out there, they will not seek the very remedy to increase the chances of finding her.
    Hopefully things have progressed.
    I think who told these media instructions to Celis’ matters.
    Grace- in yesterdays press conference, the LT informed the media that the Celis’s were told that their appearances and interviews within the National and local media would significantly increase the number of tips generated and exposure to Isa’s case. They declined without explanation. LE has passed on all media requests and offered to help them facilitate any of them, and attend if requested.
    I was floored. It is the equivalent of saying that although they believe that their daughter was abducted by a stranger and is out there, they will not seek the very remedy to increase the chances of finding her.
    This poor baby.
    Blink,
    I agree with you, and to me it seems as if they are possibly being guided by an attorney, yet, no word of them lawyering up! Has my head spinning,,,,,,,,,,
    @wpg-
    If you watch in the video starting 55 seconds in, notice the man with a back slouch talking to police. Sorry if this has already been pointed out, I just started following this case and am behind.
    Hmmm, can’t tell if G6 is continuing to walk back to the left, say for instance to the Moon Cactus, or if G6 went to the front of the dumpster to walk in the direction of the Celis home.
    Does G6 have a slight back slouch?
    Thoughts, anyone?
    Wow, enough said. Why would a parent decline the exposure they could create for finding their daughter? Because they or one of them is involved. Or they know where she is, so why bother doing interviews. I think any parents who truly have a child missing, do everything they can to get it out there in the media and to find their child. They certainly don’t say “we want to take the focus off us” which sounds a little discriminating in my opinion.
    Then we have the hit by one of the dogs. Also not a good sign.
    Blink, Do you know if everyone in the family was interviewed separately? Including the brothers?
    They have been once.
  47. Bridget says:
    Blink,
    Is it normal procedure for the LE to interview the entire family again after gathering evidence? To see if stories change or do not collaborate with their findings?
    Absolutely, several times. They should be in constant contact.
  48. Bridget says:
    Ah, so they have had one interview with the LE since she’s been gone. I’m guessing the police have tried for several more but are not getting anywhere with the parents?
    Absolutely, several times. They should be in constant contact.
    B
    As they should. If that were my child, I would be calling the detectives every single day, multiple times and saying “what do I need to do to get my child back?” “Is there anything else you need to know from me, that will help get my child back?” I would give my soul for my child. It amazes me when parents take advice from anyone other than the detectives or “lawyer up” and take the advice of attorneys. Do you know if the Celis’s have an attorney?
    Police speak to more witnesses from video in Celis case
    Investigators spend weekend poring over leads, but no breakthroughs
    At least two other witnesses the police were hoping to speak with have given statements. One of the men in the video came forward on Saturday. On Friday, police released the footage that shows a group of two men and three women walking through a parking lot around between 1 a.m. and 1:30 a.m. on April 21, the day Isabel was discovered missing.
    There is a sixth person seen in the video who is not a member of the group, but Pacheco said police were most interested in speaking with the people in the group.
    In addition, TPD is asking for information from anyone who may have noticed someone they know who has been behaving differently, was missing during the period Isabel disappeared, or has deviated from a regular schedule or normal activities in the last week.
    “It may indicate some type of involvement,” he said. “We want to look into all possibilities.”
    Some of the things to look out for, according to TPD:
    The person may have missed scheduled appointments, work, or other normal activities during the day on Saturday.
    The person may have disappeared for a period of hours or even days, or may have left the area entirely since last weekend.
    The person may have exhibited some noticeable behavioral changes. For example:
    The person may have been more nervous, irritable or secretive than normal.
    The person may display an unusual interest in the media coverage of Isabel’s disappearance or conversely may not want to discuss the investigation.
    The person may have unexpectedly cleaned, painted, or altered his vehicle.
