Search for Isabel Celis Leads To Cadaver Alert In Home And Local Landfill- Family Barred From Home

Tucson, AZ-  Missing since Saturday morning around 8 am, six year old Isabel Celis was believed to be taken from the safety of her bedroom sometime after 11PM on Friday evening.

After Isa’s Mother Becky Celis left for work as a pediatric nurse at Tuscon Medical Center her Father told police he went to wake her at about 8am and she was not in her bed.   The blinds in her room were askew and her window was open.

The screen to her window had been removed.  Sergio Celis’s call t0 911 has not been released.

Early this morning,  the FBI deployed a scent tracking dog and a cadaver canine to the Celis home.   The family was then asked to make other living arrangements for the near future as the dogs produced evidence requiring further investigation.

Police Chief Roberto Villasenor would not reveal what was found at the home of first-grader Isabel Mercedes Celis.

Police have not said what that is,  but sources close to the family not willing to be identified have confirmed to www.blinkoncrime.com that the specially trained cadaver dog  alerted to the detection of cadaverine.

The home is now being treated as a crime scene.

Police have not ruled out the parents as possible suspects, nor have they commented on whether or not the residence of a sex offender in the immediate neighborhood has been searched after obtaining new warrants today that have been sealed.   Another residence on the same street as the Celis family was searched this morning.

Late this afternoon, investigators headed to the landfill where the trash from the neighborhood was emptied Saturday prior to police having an opportunity to secure the scene.

Isabel’s disappearance is eerily similar to that of 10 month old Lisa Irwin , missing from her home since October 3, 2011 and has not been found.

Becky and Sergio Celis,  Isabel’s parents have not spoken publicly about their daughter’s disappearance.

    “We appreciate everyone’s interest in finding our daughter, Isabel, and thank all the volunteers who have come out to search for her. We are cooperating fully with authorities, and are focused only on her safe return. We appreciate all your energy and efforts and continue to need the community’s help. Please call TPD if you have any information. We love Isabel and will never give up finding her. Thank you for all your support.”

    the way I see it from Mapco, the new assaults address is a direct run

    re: Group of 5 plus G6
    LE WAS GIVEN THE VIDEO FOR THE WRONG NIGHT !!!!

    Per today’s presser, an unnamed security company gave LE the video for Saturday evening into early Sunday . . . not FRIDAY NIGHT into early Saturday.

    The copy of the video given to LE was NOT TIME/DATE-STAMPED.

    LE learned of the error after interviewing 3 out of the 5 individuals who informed them (LE) that the group were at the area late Saturday into early Sunday.

    What the flipping heck?!

    Lt.Pacheco said he met with the parents yesterday and gave them a 2 page list of media requests. Parents said they would look over it and decide what they wanted to do.

    Lt.Pacheco was asked to describe the demeanour of the parents.
    He said he really couldn’t speak on how the parents were feeling, he didn’t know/couldn’t judge, but he said “there was some level of concern”.

    Egads.

    He was flustered today, and I did not blame him. My kudos to the press as they are getting stronger and more creative with their questions.

    He is doing a very difficult job, and he has my compliments and support.

    Look- the reality is there is no conceivable explanation to not agree to interviews essential to recovering their baby, if they believe she was abducted.

    There is simply no avoiding that.

    Personally, and I say this respectfully, after this much time, I think LE is about to play some hardball, and they should.

    Repeating myself- CPS and GAL’s for the Celis children while this progresses to maintain their best interests.

    How many times have you been out with your family late by the time you get home your child is completely out for the count?
    Anytime my child is completely out I do not like to mess with them I do not wake them up to take a bath or change clothes as this can be taken care of in the a.m.
    One time
    I woke my then 7 yo up to take a bath after a monster truck show only to find him sleeping in the bath tub. Not one of us are perfect, reality is the clothes still being on imo is a sign of a normal family.

    Kimberly, I have wondered if the family is being advised by an attorney.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~
    I am trying not to judge the family by what was said or how they comported themselves in their statement. I know how I would react if my child went missing. I would be frantic and talking to every media outlet out there, and I would be listening to what LE was telling me, as well as asking questions. But, everyone is different.
    We have no idea what is really going on behind the scenes.
    Who knows? Anything could have happened to this poor baby.
    Absolutely, several times. They should be in constant contact.
    Blink, I am confused. On day nine, in the press conference, the LEO said LE has been in contact with the family on a daily basis. What did I miss?
    Appolly Grace, I think that my comment may have been mashed in or out of context on my part.
    They have spoken with the parents on many occasions, but to my knowledge, they have not spoken to LE without an “advisor” since Saturday the 21st, after being interviewed for hours separately.
    To be fair, that in itself does not bother me per se.
    What bothers me is that they are being hounded by the media, with substantial interview requests they KNOW can and will increase tipsters and exposure to their daughter Isa’s case, which they have received over two pages of, and they have declined to participate thus far. If I were a meth head prostitute I would endure any scrutiny to rescue my baby, if I indeed believed they were taken.
    I am very sensitive to the ole “LE” focused on the suspects early on and so they know they are suspects and refuse to implicate themselves- blah blah.
    We are talking about people that have stated publicly that their baby girl was yanked out of her bedroom window in the middle of the night.
    Pacheo struggled with it this afternoon, so with respect, I will translate- when a LEO cannot expound upon the emotional condition of parents that feel their child was abducted by a stranger past ” they have concerns” that means, we do not believe the emotional presentation and the story of the disappearance intersect in any way, nor are they going to.
    How many statistics need to be stated to wake these people up? That is, assuming they want to.
  15. osu says:
    Watching NG with my attorney husband and he doesn’t think it is odd that the parents haven’t been speaking to media. I asked him why and he said why, so LE can jump on what they say and look for discrepancies in their stories? We certainly don’t think alike. I would be talking.
    You cannot say you are going to look everywhere, never stop, and never give interviews to facilitate your own efforts. That is going to do more damage to the overall case than that of parents wanting to not be implicated. I think in general everyone knows about a parallel investigation of every family member, and the need for LE to clear them quickly.
    That has not happened. There is a reason and it is not police paranoia.
    @ malty, there have been times where we have arrived home late at night after a long day and if child fell asleep in car, they just got plunked in bed, dirty teeth and all! I would usually remove jeans and shoes of course but it was too much chaos to wake them, wash, brush and change a very sleepy child. Maybe that is why she was in her own room, she fell asleep on the way home so they placed her in her own bed.
  20. osu says:
    Also, Isabel perhaps stayed in brother’s room because she was afraid to be alone. My son is 8 and it is still challenging to get him to stay in his room. He sleep walks, one night he just kept walking around and around dining room table. I do worry at times that what if he decided to go out, I am a very light sleeper tho. But I am quite certain if this type of scenario occurred, she would have been found by someone. Doesn’t make sense!
  21. Katy says:
It would/could be important if this night, and this night only she happened to be alone in her room…that would show some special, insider knowledge…
    Also where is all of the LE activity one might see in that video if it is really from the next night? Shouldn’t there be some signs of the investigation and more importantly, shouldn’t LE have been questioning those people walking thru there, live on the spot? I would think LE would be crawling all over that area still, it was only reported 16 hours earlier…
    Blink, girl, you need to move down to Texas and help me straighten some of my coworkers out with your sharp as a razor wit. Had been having a horrible day, I go take a long bath….and then come to the computer and read, “If I were a Meth head prostitute…”
    I laughed so loud my little Cairn terrier jumped a foot off the floor! He’s a nervous type, but a cuddle bug. You do know you truly are a gifted wordsmith, my dear friend.
    Meth head prostitute…oh, Lawd.
    Yep, this family IS different. What the he!! is up with these kooky families, Blink? I’d be beating on every door in the neighborhood, shaking down every SO on the map, and you would see my face on tv every day ’til they found my child. My freakin’ hair would be on fire.
    But, as odd as their choices are, I sense these parents are not involved. I cannot explain why. Could it be that they speak more fluent Spanish than English? Have they made any appearances on an Spanish television news shows?
    On the other hand, we just don’t know what the heck is going on in their heads. But, the bottom line is: They need to TALK. And LE needs to search every single house in that vicinity, and get the license plates of all the cars that passed through that area that night. And, for pete’s sake, get the CORRECT video, guys. Geez.
    Blink, please tell me this is not going to be a repeat of the KH investigation, and all of it’s blunders. I hope LE has something very soon that will solve this case and bring this beautiful baby home.
    Keep on, keepin’ on, Blink! And, I will keep sending prayers that Isa is home soon.
    Lol. You only think it is funny because you know I cannot even pop an allergy pill without getting the vapors :)
    I hear you. I have decided the situation is this- imo.
    1. This is an orchestrated hoax of some kind, of which the family is aware, and may or may not be participating as a couple. Included in that scenario would be anything nefarious which might necessitate such an action, and have the Celis family blaming it on a stranger abduction.
    2. Baby Isa has met an accidental fate that might result in some sort of neglect charge.
    3. Isabel was abducted by someone inside the home whose intention was unknown to the Celis family.
    I pray for this little punkin. She reminds me so much of Sandra Cantu I cannot stand it.
    How come we still don’t know where dad works? I hear he is a dental hygenist and an opera singer. The opera group is having a fund raiser but I see no co workers for him and hear nothing.
    I thought it strange on Friday when NG’s producer was reporting dad and a driver drove by the reporter twice in a beautiful white Lincoln automobile.
    I don’t believe I have ever seen that before. I could give him one time if he is staying in the neighborhood but to double back for a second camera shot???
    Dad has two homes and three cars and is hauled into court for dog violations..which he attends while the world is looking for his daughter…and he doesn’t pay his real estate taxes?
    Children’s being put to bed in their clothes (instead of pajamas) at the end of a very long day is not bizarre. What is bizarre is that the parents are not giving public interviews to recount every minutes of that day and night as a way to generate tips. WHy aren’t the parents saying, “We got home form the ballgame at 11pm and Isabel was already asleep and we carried her into the bedroom, etc.”? Of course, they could have told those details to the police, but it seems obvious to me that there is now a cat-and-mouse game going on between the police and the Celises.
    Even in freaky cases where kids are kidnapped from their houses, there is almost always immediate corroboraiton of the event. Elisabeth Smart’s sister saw her being led away and (I think) there were several horrified witnesses when poor Polly Klaas was dragged out of her own house. From Lisa Irwin to Madeleine McCann to Isabel Celis, there was supposed to have been some stealthy bogeyman who snatched a child for no clear reason and disappeared without a trace. I don’t buy it.
    The investigation has been silent about her school & church.  I wonder if there are residential priests at that church/ school & the extent to which any crossed
    paths with her
    Also the Mass pic above refers to 4 cousins & has an older lad walking in front.  If the cousins live in the neighborhood too, I could see the sibs going out the window to play awhile & Isa following.  In 5th & 6th grade a neighbor girl went out at 1 am all the time to meet the el ed janitor’s son outside the community ctr as my daughter found out to her horror one Friday night when she was a beard sleepover.  It’d done here by 4th or 5th by some.
    However, I feel it abduction by a SO.
  35. Ode says:
    What is a bit confusing to me is that if the video was from the following night/morning that Isa disappeared wouldn’t there have been some type of LE activity around her house? Was the family still in the house? We hear about the perp returning to the scene of the crime etc…If they thought the family might be a target wouldn’t they be watching the area…
    Could this tape have been given to LE knowing that it was the wrong night? Would a security company with security equipment stand to profit from the community after an adorable child like Isa disappears?
    agreed, imo, that was likely a LEO.
    Would someone explain to me why, if a cadaver dog hit on something in the Celis home, the police and others are looking for her in Mexico? Just don’t get the connection. I just have always believed in those dogs when I read an indepth article about how they are trained.
    I remember in the Haleigh Cummings case that dog hitting on a dumpster out back of the home. I will always believe she was placed there temporarily until the co-conspirators could figure out what to do next.
  37. Mermaid14 says:
    Also just pure speculation again on my part but everytime they play the parents in that “plea” to the abductor I just get a feeling that there is something not authentic about their grief. The father seems to be overly dramatic yet no tears from either he or the mother at that scene. And now their not wanting to participate fully in what is going on. Suspicious.
    Maybe someone should inform Mary Littlehorn, family friend and co-worker of Rebecca about this:
    (snipped)
    “Littlehorn has worked with Becky Celis as a registered nurse in the pediatrics unit at Tucson Medical Center for five years. She said Isabel, whose nickname is Isa, loved to play baseball and dance; the girl was supposed to play in a baseball game Saturday.
    “She’s just the sweetest, she is feisty, she’s full of life and spirit,” Littlehorn said.
    She said Sergio Celis is a dental hygienist, and that there was no way anyone in the family is involved in the disappearance.”
  39. wpg says:
    “fortress”
    Ah, that’s a good word, Blink. Better than my word of “compound”.
    Yeah, a little research showed me that the dog charges become “criminal” if the the person did not comply or with the original civil citations and offer proof that the dogs had subsequently been vaccinated and then licensed with proof of vaccination.
    In other words, Celis has known about this for a while and the dogs were not running loose only a week prior to Isa’s disappearance.
    Secrets going on here. LE knows, imo.
  40. Elizabeth says:
    Usually by this time we know quite a bit. In this case we are still asking the same silly questions.
    In the beginning they seemed to be looking for a dead Isabel..land searches, house to house and the pond.
    Now we are in Mexico. If Mexico was on their radar in the beginning how come there is not a poster of the missing Isabel and how come if it so close to Tucson why didn’t we think of that “earlier”.
    I think the investigation has turned up some interesting things. That is why things have changed.
    By the way where are Tim and Mark and other search and recovery groups?
    Are the only people looking for Isabel…bloggers?
    I still can’t get over Sergio would appear in court on a dog charge when his precious little girl is missing. Imagine that.
    Right now, with the known information in this case, I would be opposed to any public search efforts in this case and let LE work their leads and schedule any search activity accordingly.
    From what I have read from Article 6 of the Arizona State Office . . . yes.
    ARTICLE 6. DENTAL HYGIENISTS
    Where did Nancy G. get the idea that Isabel normally slept with her brothers? She said “we’ve learned” but she never says from who——————–Constance, I don’t know where Nancy G. learned that info but what I do remember is very early on I watched a news video and can’t remember what station it was for but the male reporter was outside and he specifically mentioned that Isabel normally slept with her brothers but that particular night she was in her room alone. I just wish I remembered where I saw it. I also remember reading that she had a fear of being kidnapped, but again it was something I read and don’t know if it’s been verified. Rumors can be crazy. I also read that someone said that the rosaries the parents were wearing were just for show because they are not religious at all. BUT, they have been at church so I just don’t know what to believe.
    I, too, think it’s very odd that the parents are not plastering themselves all over the media to get Isa’s info out there. Think of Lauren Spierer’s parents and Kyron’s parents (save Terri), all of whom have been all over the media since their children went missing. But then there are the Bobos, who are more like the Celis family, keeping themselves out of the media. I don’t place one ounce of suspicion on the Bobo family, but I do think that both Isa and Holly may have fallen victim to someone each family knows and possibly fears.
    It looks like Arizona requires licensure for Dental Hygienists, but not Dental Assistants unless they do coronal polishing.
  45. Rose says:
    In the beginning, iirc until the RO & divorce, Kyron parents were not public with media. It took them longer to make first appearance iirc, and then it was same deal as Celis–selected media with presubmitted questions & their choice which to answer in writing. Similar MO. Media courting brgan after RO/divorce. And this was with an LE stepparent.
    NG said the grandparents live at the other end of the street. According to People Search & Radaris that would be the paternal “Celis” family. I’m seeing two different Michael Celis’s is one grandpa and one Sergio’s brother? Do grandparents live with brother? I was just thinking about the possibility that maybe little Isa was mad at mom and dad about something and decided to run away to grandma’s house, but never made it. Wasn’t it the maternal Uncle who was there that morning?
    IDK, but the fact that there are two video cameras pointed at that house, one Moore’s, another from a different business, one would think that any car an abductor used would show up on those surveillance videos, at some point but if she crawled out that window herself, I don’t think the wall would hide that from the camera.
    Why did LE ask for video from the ballgame? To see if they were followed? Or to see if there was some sort of family disturbance?
    @wpg. Yes, you can cover a civil citation that way & must–very rigid system for public health purposes. Yet, believe it or not, many families are too poor to vaccinate their mutts on demand/short notice. There’s the Vet bill too. Bet he was prioritizing if near foreclosure. Perhaps credit cards at max due to care for his mother with stroke up the street.
    I wonder why he pled not guilty?
  48. Rose says:
    Aw Blink, I had a dead Volvo turbo wagon on the street for ages.
    I loved that car and refused to bury it.
    I think finances were strapped by house which they purportedly chose to be near & care for his stroke ridden mothers. Maybe those cousins live with grandparents too. In Hispanic culture they may be supporting 2 or more households. And maybe his mother has no medical insurance.
    OMG I had to check you were not a very dear friend of mine who drove a yellow Volvo beater into the ground, literally.
    We called it Col. Mustard lol
    Nancy Grace reported ***a source*** said Isabel usually slept in a bedroom with her brothers, but that night she was sleeping in her own bedroom.
    The only person I’ve seen report this is NG herself. Doesn’t mean it isn’t true, but if so, maybe because she was made to go to bed in her own room that night, she got angry and went out the window to run away or go to grandma’s house. ??? Just a thought.
