Bellefonte, PA- The trial of Penn State’s claim to shame entrepreneur, Gerald Arthur Sandusky began yesterday.
The victim, “just wanted a father figure,” McGettigan said, “but the defendant would spoon with him, put his hand down his pants, touch his genitals.”

Witness (victim #4 ) testified to resorting to hiding in his closet with the phone after months of alleged abuse by Sandusky. 13 at the time, He said the alleged assaults became as frequent as two to three times a week and lasted for about three years. He weighed 90 lbs.
He also claimed that Dottie Gross Sandusky walked in on him and Jerry during an assault.

Mrs. Sandusky, adoptive mother of 6 can say what she wants to those in town, but at the end of the day, it is this authors opinion that Dottie will find herself a party to a legal proceeding or two of her own if she is not already. I have had the opportunity to speak with a few locals last week off the record, and the consensus was that Mrs. Sandusky is in supreme denial. No doubt brought on by her husband’s recently diagnosed lack of consideration of others.

Joseph Amendola claims Jerry Sandusky suffers from Histrionic Personality Disorder in a motion filed yesterday.
Is this a window to both Amendola’s defense strategy and laying the groundwork for leniency in the event (when) Sandusky is convicted by a jury of his peers?
Interesting that such a diagnosis surfaces now. In offenses that stem since 1994- how consoling to know that Jer Sandusky was simply creating conflict in romantic relationships. ( Author reminds readers that instructions to provide ones own air sickness bag appeared at the beginning of this piece).

Perhaps I need to further inspect my friend and colleague pool. I know like 20 people that qualify for all of those traits and not one of them is a pedophile, or an alleged pedophile, nor has any ever sought the sexual companionship of children.
Amendola would have done better to motion that Sandusky had obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) resulting in mutual showers after contact with children of “abstract backgrounds”. I mean, disadvantaged children in the foster care system should shower more frequently as well, right?
McGettigan also produced a contract between a victim and Sandusky (via The Second Mile) that guaranteed the victim up to $1000 in college expenses if he kept his grades up. The Second Mile does not promote unsupervised visits with it’s participating children and therefore the contract would be invalid.
Um, someone maybe should check the handbook- every one of this victims over 15 years came from The Second Mile and everyone of the alleged atrocities were committed sans “supervision”.

The thing we need to be teaching is our kids is that it’s not always strangers. My sister was abused by a friend of my parents. Our parents would take us over there to play with their kids, the male was friends with my dad in High school, they all still hung out years later. They delivered my sister to her abuser. Nobody had any idea (allegedly) until 10 or so years later when my sister said something. At that point, his wife divorced him and my parents stopped speaking to him. To this day, some 30 years later, my sister still doesn’t feel she’s *worth it*. I would guess (from my armchair knowledge) that she felt like my parents weren’t *there* for her at that time. I would also probably venture that when she did finally come forward and nothing happened to him, she felt it again. It’s heartbreaking really because I can see so clearly why she behaves the way she does and what happens to the psyche of survivors. It just never goes away. It creeps in and effects every aspect of your life.
I sincerely apologize for my lack of knowledge, but can someone tell me what the heck is the “back cracking” that these brave young men keep referring to? I assume it has to do with some kind of spinal manipulation. Did this vomituous monster use that, along with the touching, spooning (gag), raspberrying, as more foreplay?! Good grief. I agree with some of you, that bag-o-puke is soooo getting off on hearing the gut-wrenching testimony. Histronic my behind, he needs to be history. An example of this would be JoePa. He knew. He wanted Sandusky out, but he never really grasped the gravity of the situation, nor the potential liability. I believe he could simply not grasp the concept that an adult man had sexual interest in a child. I do not know if it was religious, cultural, or flat out disgust resulting in denial, but I believe in his mind at the time he did what he thought he should have, and in his own words before his passing he wished he had done more. ******Maybe that is enough to inspire many of his loyal fans to do that now.******

Patriot-News Reporter Sara Ganim writes that in 2000 a janitor (Jim Calhoun) who saw JS with a boy in the shower area told a colleague (Ronald ‘Buck’ Petrovsky) that he saw the man licking the genital area of the child. Petrovsky said in court today that he personally saw two sets of legs in the shower area, as well.
He also said that the group of workers kept someone near Calhoun for the rest of the shift because he was crying and was extremely upset about what had happened. Calhoun did not testify for himself because he has late-stage dementia and lives in a memory care facility.

RE#4 – Connie, I too can’t imagine a grown man not taking action after seeing what he saw. At first glance I probably would have thought my eyes were lying. Second look and hearing the sound of flesh pounding, my hot temper and I would have jumped right in there. I would have beaten the tar out of that man, rescued the boy and made sure proper steps were taken to ensure the safety of the young man and to make sure LE was involved in it all. I believe with every one of my fibers that Dottie was confronted with legions of inappropriate situations between her husband and boys for decades. Who has a waterbed in their basement? And on what planet is it OK for men to disappear into the basement sleeping quarters of child guests to play with them alone? With all other family members upstairs? Repeatedly?
As a child sexual abuse victim, myself, this case makes me want to SCREAM; Don’t turn a blind eye to inappropriate situations;
-If it looks inappropriate, look again and keep looking, don’t look away.
-If it feels creepy; don’t get over it; look closer; even if the creeper is one of your associates OR your husband.
-If you witness the rape of a child; don’t get all befuddled because it’s occurring in your #@(#!^$ prestigious football organization or country club or whatever. Police and hospitals have rape kits, not your dad or your boss.
-Don’t be surprised if the predator is someone you know or if they’re prestigious or powerful or well liked. Plenty of predators know lots of people.
In the article linked above, victim #4 testified that a coach who encountered himself and Sandusky in the seemingly ubiquitous showers, hung around until Sandusky left. Good for him, if he sensed something and took the time to stay around to insure nothing amiss happened.
But when Dottie encountered Jerry leaving a hotel bathroom where the 15 year old boy was showering, though she voiced the question; “What are you doing in there?”, she failed to follow through with any answers to her own question, appearantly, ever.
I want to scream the question to Dottie; Is there any good reason for a man to ever be in a hotel bathroom together with a showering 15 year old?

As for car stalking, today I thought that maybe JS was trying to see if the folks in the gym had called the police (who might still be there interviewing) or if he was just revisiting the scene for his own pleasure OR was he thinking about harming (physically or jobwise) the janitor who saw him? We really don’t know if JS saw anyone except for Petrovsky who was waiting in the hallway for him to leave.
I thought the Costas thing was a joke. It may have been intended to remind jurors of how they felt when they watch/heard it.
I have to wonder what all these good people do at church, or in their private prayers or meditations. Don’t they seek out spiritual guidance when faced with life-altering decisions? Most of them had not one day to “decide”. But day after day, year after year, to decide or refuse to face reality, responsibility(and its definition as “response-ability”–the ability to respond).
Diffusion of responsibility assisted. Having conflicts of interest assisted. Being too far removed from the situation assisted. All together, a lot of people share the responsibility for what we’re seeing.

lizzy, good point about JS thinking that he’s going to skate through this again. He’s done it for so long, he may think, why will this time stick? Perhaps he experience similar assaults as a youngster and nobody has been held accountable there, either?
I see a bit of insecurity on his face and in his body (neck, shoulders, back) and watched the video of the arrival today. I agree with you who’ve said it’s been hard to look at him.
After court today, Jer stood with his white ledger box inside the white tunnel waiting his turn to put it into Amendola’s SUV. He hangs back until Amendola gives him the word and then he boldly strides forward, only to hesitate at the edge of the trunk. (Reminded me of ‘helper-buddy’ KC Anthony assisting in her legal defense.)
Has anyone noticed how often he puts his hands in his pockets? I don’t know if that’s a sexual addiction characteristic, or manifestation of insecurity (hiding his hands; hiding, in general).

He testified to what he himself saw (legs, departures, car, need to take care of shaken janitor who came out of room legs were in). imo the statement of the janitor on “licking genitals” neednt have been let in for the truth of the matter, but rather to allow Calhoun to explain why he had to take care of him and calm
him down all evening as he was very shaken.
I got that, but I can assure you that was not the intent of the comment.

He was too busy using all the susceptibles himself.
And how easy it is to lure/hook lower socioeco children (a more important variable than fatherless imo) with material gifts–clothes, tickets, toys, trips. And how reluctant the most susceptible kids are to talk. These boys susceptibility reminds me of Kyron’s vulnerability and family circumstances.
JS also seems quite the loner.

I really believe that JS began this behavior as a teenager. We have no evidence of him being associated with deviant behavior during the early part of his life, so maybe he just wasn’t caught.
The Second Mile was the perfect vehicle for him to get acess to these young boys who had zero protection from a complete family. This means that it was a well thought out plan. The big question is were these young boys ever used as prostitutes for the benifit of others in the Second Mile organization such as donors? As painful as it is to contemplate, were these boys offered to others in the college sports world? I hope the investigators have covered this and the answer is no.
JMc was a little kid in a man’s body. Any real man would have called the local sheriff’s office via 911 and then gone into the shower and
stoped the rape by whatever means it took.

I think the MO behaviors were those done to him
in a locker room by a coach. Iwould not be surprized if it began

He could’ve been aware in high school he was a loner and sexually and
tempermentally different, but not found a release from his anxiety
through deviant sex til college. I think it most likely he began acting
out after marriage when he could not find the satisfaction he may have
hoped would make him normal. I find it difficult to believe his sons were
not also targets.
I hope he is on suicide watch. I think it’s likely after he testifies and says
one last “I love you” to the boys. That is, that’s why he’s calm.
Profound analysis, Rose. Your portrayal makes sense in regard to his arrested development. If he began acting out a little later in life, he may have been acclimated over time.
Yet, if JS was modeling his learned deviant, pedophiliac behavior when ritually assaulting his victims, then I believe he also was victimized at an earlier age. Otherwise, we could conclude he was sexually conflicted if he was college age and entered into homosexual relationships, which are not pedophiliac or deviant, in nature.
There is no doubt in my mind JS is a legacy offender. None.
Will we find out if he is convicted and forced to throw himself on the court for mercy?

I do not know when Sandusky began preying on young boys- but most likely it was when he was younger, as again this has nothing to do with sexual orientation it is a sickness that compels them to offend just like a rapist- who will offend and reoffend usually escalating in the frequency and severity of the attacks-

Thanks for letting me jump off your post Rose inorder to share this information and thanks for sharing your thoughts- I think if Sandusky is found guilty and given a harsh sentence that is when he will consider suicide and I agree that all children who ever came in contact with him need to be interviewed even his own children.

there were other coaches in addition to Dad. I would see his Dad
as so engaged in all the bldg’s programs & kids, in all the sports and teams and leagues associated
with Brownston programs and their wins,
it is my speculation as to his own son he was a distant or
emotionally absentee Dad when Jer was 7-11, before Jer blossomed as an athlete.
That is, perhaps one of the many hanger-on coaches associated with
his Dad’s program at Brownstone taught Jerry all he knows, combining it with affection
and “love.” I see his Dad as a JoePa in his own tiny Washington community..
But Jerry is so flakey with such poor exec functioning, I think
