Nittany Nightmare Continues Past Sandusky: Former President Spanier Charged- NEW Charges for Curley and Schultz Filed
Happy Valley- PA On the heels of convicted child molester Jerry Sandusky’s transfer to his new home, what most predicted would follow- has.
Former Penn State President Graham Spanier, fired by the Penn State Board of Trust the same day as legendary late-Nittany Lions Coach Joe Paterno, is facing serious charges today filed by Sandusky’s prosecutors.
Spanier is facing counts of obstruction of justice, perjury, conspiracy, endangering the welfare of children and failure to report allegations of child abuse.
Tim Curley and Gary Schultz, who were facing perjury and charges based on “non-reporting”, are now facing all five similar charges as Spanier- additional filings occurred simultaneously.
Linda L. Kelly stated the men “used their positions to conceal and cover up for years the activities of a known child predator,” on Thursday following the announcement.

In my view- and in the view of the FBI and most major LEA’s I am aware of pedophiles are not treatable in terms of curing or therapeutic remedy whatsoever.

It seems like the Board Chair, illadvised by Counsel, got the format and comment tools
wrong in the beginning, moreover, Counsel gave no training to Board members about
the Comment period’s legal importance and the deference they must pay.
For a school/board that size- I have to say – none of those public speeches would have received better than a C from my COMM professor and wth is with board members leaving upon public commentary. In fairness, the public commentary was mostly edited out so I don’t know what it was, but clearly many members of this board are not perched to accept community input. Cause ya know- that stance has worked out so well for them thus far.

Any lawyer would advise a corporate or govt Board that a public comment section is part of their legal protection armor. Heck, even Condo Boards do it. You have it up front, time limited & clocked. Watch it go to research at Hershey Medical Ctr where Masser & Joyner etc are on the Board. Those on the front lines are MSWs employed by State & County DHS Depts tasked with assessing & addressing child victims. Even if Penn State developed competent CPS MSW training concentrations, most of the traing occurs in 2 day a week field pacements in County DHS CPS (or whatever PA calls it), which isn’t so hot a training site. And, it does no good for PS to barf out better trained grads without reform of the PA CPS County systems. If not County govt govt offices, child protection teams also exist in hospitals. In my opinion, it is to a centralized County hispital (Hershey) that this money will flow. Masser is sneaky imo.
In reading NittanyNet Sandusky blurbs, the acronyms for County cps agencies appear to be DPW & CYA.
In my opinion there were 3 failed institutions in this case, and PS was not one of them.
There was The Second Mile. TSM was negligent in its duties to supervise Jerry because he was their case cow. A negligance suit against TSM and its Administrators and the Board and its individual members for negligance in duty of care & duty to supervise wrt Board & agency policies & practices has not been filed on behalf of vics. Why? PS was seen as the deep pocket, but I submit Board members had those pockets, as did agency & Board insurance.
The other negligent actors were the State agency that did his adoption home studies & effected his adoption placements, and the State agencies (DPW, CYA?) that did not investigate responsibly & take action on vic reports. That includes the investigating police bodies.
The only reason imo PS was targeted rather than CYA & DPW was to cover for these County & State agency offices, and the reasons were political (Corbett & Fina & AG investigator calls), & the judgment of who had the deep pocket on the part of private attorneys.

The question is, how did the Masorti firm employee manage to bring Shubin in? I wonder if Miller was the DA present when Masori was jailed for contempt?

Why did Masorti & Shubin front Bernie Centola to ask County Commissioners for a Special Prosecutor? It’s an attorney’s job (Shubin) to rep his own client. The ever voluble in the press Masorti is quiet acter getting a 3rd degree of legal separation from his Senior Para employee Shutt (who manages to be his fulltime employee while being a fulltime Exec Asst to Restek’s Pres and running her own freelance para service and teaching Brief writing on Pinterest.

The DA was her first and only fulltime para job until her Masorti alliance. For all one knows, she went to para school specifically to get that job & work in that DA office. Doubtless there were higher paying, less overtime intensive, para jobs for a magna cum laude graduate of Everett. I suggest all her phone communications to & from home & office while working for the DA should be investigated.

The way I see it is that Shutt walked into working for DA Miller with a recent online para degree & no experience in any office secretarial work, or legal work, much less a DA’s Office. DAs and attorneys give Judges typed orders to sign constantly. When I stepped into new offices as an AA in technical fields, I’d go look at recent letters or forms on file & strive to produce a similar product. And, if I’d been too dumb to do that on my own, I expect any supervisor would say Here’s where to find examples of the Motion or order I want, just produce the same. So that part of her story, being directed to produce an order for signature similar to prior orders rings true as typical instructions to an untrained new typist. And, we’ve learned Judges in Centre Cty sign orders all the time without reading or remembering them.
