Kyron Horman Missing: New Years Eve Settlement Ends Horman Marriage

Portland, OR- In a surprise court hearing,  Judge Henry Kantor signed off on the agreement between Kaine Horman and Terri Moulton Horman to end their marriage this afternoon.

Details of the agreement have not been released publicly, but according to KGW,  a financial settlement to include child support and a lump payment to Terri Horman has been reached.

In what can only be described as a bitter family court feud-  the divorce matter was last in court on December 16th to decide if the Horman landscaper,  Rodolfo Sanchez Estrada -who alleges Terri Horman tried to hire him to murder Kaine Horman at a lunch meeting – would testify.

Judge Kantor has not yet filed an order from that hearing but Attorneys for Terri Horman were granted a continuance from the pending temporary custody motion scheduled for December 19th and 20th.

Dang Blink the Vanity Fair article from 2002 went poof since yesterday. Kathie’s best friend with whom she was with earlier in the day before she disappeared was relentless in the beginning, going through his trash, talking to anyone that would listen, calling him, tracking where he went etc…It led to her loosing her house becoming dependent on alcohol, problems with her family that did not want to hear anything about Robert Durst or his missing wife. The story in Vanity Fair did seem to me that she stalked Durst and for awhile it destroyed her. The point I was wondering about is the mindset of someone that is completely obsessed with the guilt of an individual even when he has not been arrested or publicly named a poi by LE. Since the article is gone I can not demonstrate why I think her actions could be looked at as stalking.

Still there Ode- but does appear that it linked some redirects and google tags ( for those that don’t know- they are aware that the article is again high ranking and they want to protect their stuff- no problem with me on that.

This is one of the best pieces I have seen written on this case- outstanding writing by Zeman. Thank you for posting it Ode.

The stalking you referred to as I now understand was By Gilberte Najamy. Let me say upfront I do not and will never condone stalking anyone for any reason- I don’t care what someone thinks it is- it’s subject to statute and that means illegal.

Texas court upholds right to take ‘upskirt’ pictures

Judges strike down part of statute, saying ‘inherently expressive’ medium of photography is part of right to free speech

A court has upheld the constitutional right of Texans to photograph strangers as an essential component of freedom of speech – even if those images should happen to be surreptitious “upskirt” pictures of women taken for the purposes of sexual gratification.

Criticising an anti-“creepshot” law as a “paternalistic” intrusion on a person’s right to be aroused, the Texas court of criminal appeals struck down part of the state’s “improper photography or visual recording” statute which banned photographing, broadcasting or transmitting a visual image of another person without the other’s consent and with the intention to “arouse or gratify … sexual desire”.

The case stemmed from the arrest of a man in his early 50s named Ronald Thompson who was stopped in 2011 at Sea World in San Antonio after parents reported him swimming with and taking pictures of children aged 3-11. The local district attorney’s office said that he tried to delete the photographs before his camera was seized and a police examination of it revealed 73 images of children in swimsuits “with most of the photographs targeting the children’s breast and buttocks areas”.

Prosecuting lawyers argued that the constitutional right to free speech, which includes taking public photographs, should not be a factor because photography is essentially a technical recording process and that attempted lawbreakers should not be able to hide behind free-speech protections.

Attorneys for Thompson said that the statute was “the stuff of Orwellian thought-crime” and that it did not distinguish “upskirt” or “peeping Tom” photography from “merely photographing a girl in a skirt walking down the street”, so in theory it could criminalise the likes of paparazzi journalists.

The appeals judges appeared to agree, stating that although “upskirt” type-images are intolerable invasions of privacy, the wording of the law is too broad. Presiding judge Sharon Keller wrote in the court’s opinion published on Wednesday: “Protecting someone who appears in public from being the object of sexual thoughts seems to be the sort of ‘paternalistic interest in regulating the defendant’s mind’ that the First Amendment was designed to guard against.”
The judges said that photographs were “inherently expressive”, like other artistic mediums such as films or books, and so the process of creating them, as well as the images themselves, was part of an American’s right to free speech because “thought is intertwined with expression”.

    **********

Remind me never to wear a skirt in Texas, not that I’m going there any time soon. Children for cryin’ out loud! WTF are these judges thinking? Grrrrr.

Blink. In reference to the other child that looked like Ky being the target, I seem to remember that early revelations about sz had him calling ky by his name or nickname or some shortened version of his name. Is this correct, and if sz did use Ky’s name wouldn’t that indicate that ky was indeed the target of sz?

There was no interaction witnessed between Ky’s “Look alike”.
The best intelligence I have is that Kyron was referred to in what the witness believed was an abbreviated name. That could be derived from standing in a room for 5 minutes and hearing someone else call his name. Without knowing what he was actually called- I give it a very low position of priority- as priority is standardized within LE.

    Skyline

    February 05, 2015
What used to be a wonderful school for quirky kids, even those with high functioning autism, is now an institution reserved for compliant typical students who don’t make waves. My child, once welcomed, was eventually run out of the school by a new principal who has little compassion for kids who don’t fit the mold. Would not recommend this School.

Skyline was a wonderful school under the expert guidance of Principal Ben Keefer. Unfortunately for the school and the children attending it Ben was forced by PPS to become Principal at a larger struggling inner city school. His current replacement Jill Sage lacks leadership skills and is forcing the school in the wrong direction. Children are subjected to many arbitrary rules. For example running tag and touching are banned at recess and middle school children are shamed for asking questions without raising their hands. Many long-term families have pulled their children and are sending them to private schools or Sylvan. It is a sad decline to a once great school. School staff obsess over improving test scores without remembering that happy children make better learners and unhappy children learn far less. It breaks my heart to give this review. A few short years ago Skyline was a magical place. Now I too am moving my child to a new school.

Because this involves children and I believe they are entitled to protection of their privacy- I have been pretty quiet on the issue- but there are/were MANY parents who removed their children from Skyline since Kyron’s disappearance.

The principle of Skyline School, Jill Sage, is named a co-defendant in the suit. Ganz claims that some of the tension at the school can be attributed to Sage having a personal bias against athletics, which has turned off a number of other parents while banning certain sports from being played at recess.

“This principle is anti-sports,” Ganz said. “Not only do they not let students engage in physical activity, but they’re institute policies that prevent students from learning.”

I believe that DEA agents are no longer “the best” because The War on Drugs has simply never worked, is not working now, and should be ended.

A “War on Addiction” I can see working — with doctors in charge of it, not law enforcement, and no more jail cells for addicts — hospital rooms instead.

Seriously it is long overdue to place DEA personnel in other LE agencies to address actual crime. If we treat addiction humanely, the demand for drugs will end, and dealers will have to find some other line of work.

I was referring to the fact that I think it is a foregone conclusion that TMH has been “exonerated” by 2 different GJ’s and that Skyline has not been sued by his custodial parents. It is ground zero. I fear the answer is that 3mill is enough to stop the manpower. 35. Rose says:

I do not believe the buo’s positions/actions wrt the investigation is based on their own fears or motivations but is based in large measure on their multiple social systems (immediate & distant) and their complex interaction with same–influencing & being influenced by.

For example, simplistically, DY’s consists of Tony, nuclear family, Quinn & his associations, work & worship settings, friends, HC & camp followers. KH’s consists of family of origin, work & gym associates, (we don’t hear of any close friends), Kristin & her family system, the school (whether he shows up or not), the Court system & attorneys involved in his cases, HC, groupies, KHF Board, and so on. But for the KH case, the loss of the Terri-family left his social systems pretty weak & in need of a prop like Kristin.

Tony is DY’s closest, & most necessary, social system influence. And we know most about him wrt a murder 1 case with no physical & only circumstantial evidence where he fought fir conviction but a jury (rightly in my eyes as evidence also pointed away from accused) acquitted. So rather than rethink, Tony fought to the mat again, & convicted with Jury 2. Similarly I cannot imagine Tony eating his words or rethinking his beliefs in a circumstantial evidence case wrt TH even privately with DY. Secondly, her family has always seemed both to be intellectually “rudimentary” ( the kindest word I’ve got) imo as well at least 2 have expressed financial concerns. i
If DY shifted gears and got off “Terri & DDS did it,” she would lose her large social media & smaller inner circle set of social support as well as her only donation channel. I cannot imagine her letting go of those who worship Kyron by her side.

I could look at KH similarly, but wveryone here knows what role his mutual interaction with his various social systems plays in his life, and is critical to maintain his job whike keeping his child, & to KHF income.

  36. Rose says:

correction, miswrote above. meant to say,

And NOT on The List. Maybe his school year & student practicuum placement had ended. Maybe nevertheless,
he visited. But Blink says a 23 yo does not fit SZ, so one has to assume that is true of a 21 yo.

Yes. “Good grief, sometimes when I review this case, I see … Everyone being under someone’s control other than their own.” and out for themselves.

  38. Rose says:

I haven’t read the watchdog ib article, but our HS had a split between those who
took the ib classes & those who opted for AP. The ib kids were those apt to be less successful on AP type tests.
My kid who can’t test took AP for better teachers/enrichment knowing an AP score of 1 was OK at home.
Yes an IB designated program coordinator (teacher) was required at Skyline. Doesn’t mean she/he had to be
a competent teacher, just a program coordinator. But around here it coukd be a stepping stone to a vice principal track. Middle IB just meant a “personal project” in 8 (say a 1 shot charity fundraiser) with a short
writing, some foreign authors were integrated into reading, and most projects had a self-reflection paragraph fearuring 1 of three themes. This is grades 6-8. IB Middle means zero wrt rigor.

FTR, I’m not saying this man had anything to do with Kyron’s disappearance, I just had never seen his name before and I’m guessing there may have been a possible interaction at some point based on his own resume and the ages of children he was dealing with. As we know, his name is not on the list as even being there on June 4 2010. Was Kyron ever in a Headstart program?

Gosh I just hope LE has examined EVERYONE in Kyron’s circle, more than once.

Why would KH owe the 3 mill They chose to put in all that overtime

In the instance he was involved, but that was not my context- I just feel 3 mill and retirement funds is enough to thwart an investigation- either on purpose or other.

Just wondering who the assigned IB consultant was for Skyline from IBEN (see last paragraph). Wouldn’t that person have been present for the SF? No one like that on the list.
    ——————————————–
You would think so, wouldn’t you.
I don’t know about a consultant, but I do know the district administrator in charge of IB programs was there and on the list. Maybe having a person in that district position attending was sufficient for the stage they were in, or maybe they came during the staff planning stages, or the school did not request a consultant be there on that day, or there was a scheduling conflict, or a similar reason.

Denson says in comments he had the story 2 months ago wrt Kerin’s security detail. So, imo Denson had secondarily confirmed with Kerin or associates. That press scrutiny & knowledge of his activities may have triggered Kerin’s report to DC about the AG’s heightened scrutiny and preoccupation with his personal & professional stresses. Also, he could have attributed to the AG his being reassigned from his promotion to Drug unit chief to co-litigate a case with his separated wife in Jan-Feb.

    xxxx
Denson was, if iRC the one who professed his professionalism to KH/DY but was booted from the presser – yet re-instated. WW professed nothing, and yet did report for over a month on Kyron issues. Late August went into the Kyron Horman VOID. Nigel has suggested why…as one of the 5 reporters for WW. When a body restricts a NP from future investigation unless they report the news aslant, where is the real story?

With regard to Ms. Marshall. Denson’s report coupled with Nigels suggests what I’d suspected from the beginning. A rush to exploit from both the USAG office and the disabled brain of Kiren. IMO the uppers should have leveled Kiren a candidate for long-term leave long ago. Instead he is in office, and AM is being ‘held up’ as criminal stalker? Overconcern for her long-time friend/assistant/confidant…yes. But in addition the biggest investigation that office had ever been commissioned for…by the former head of the Oregon Senate. Taking down the corrupt government of Oregon itself. As well as the Oracle suits/countersuits.
And you can betcha McCaig/Kitz etc. would be gunning to get her off the case, and forstall the March 10th demand for all the Kitz/grifter records, etc.

No one knows, now, who is really in charge in the federal office here; or whether the stat at investigation is going farther…while dear transparency-Kate is still enlisting the OSP to investigate just who transferred records to Nigel when told by Jordan/Kitz to delete then.

Dysfucntion and opportunistic greed. Echos MCSD.

Blink, I googled your site and the IB reference, and came across this relevant gem. Your information comes to me in layers of understanding. You constantly amaze.

    Backstory OR Backdrop?

Among the peers of Kyron Horman in attendance on June 4th, were some children whose parents may have been granted access via the open house format, although documents filed with the school and LE would preclude the parents from removing them.

In fact, the mother of a chief witness in this case was arrested that very day for attempting to fill a script that did not belong to her, in a pharmacy that Terri Horman allegedly also visited that morning.

Another child whose parents lost custody due to very long histories with substance abuse and associated criminal behavior had the additional possible misfortune of closely resembling both Kaine and Terri Horman.

Thank you kindly erose. I have to say- maybe it’s my analyst self that goes into overdrive on occasion, but what are the chances that there are a couple who does not have custody of their child attending skyline resemble TH and Kaine ( when I say resemble I mean in passing or enough that if I did not know them and someone handed me a picture and said did you recognize this person ever at the school if my encounter was brief I would suggest it could be an easy error) and that a child goes missing who has a schoolmate who resembles him so closely I could not tell them apart personally from an image. I don’t know that answer because in my world a coincidence no matter how unlikely is always in the “possible” column.

Lastly, the children I referenced in the above comment are females, not male.

@Malty. I erroneously assumed he was a student teacher undergrad. In fact he came to Oregon specifically to get an MAT as an older, married student. 3-5 year olds are his educational career choice. Seems a fine fellow on paper.
He had left in June 2009.

IB at Skyline is the Middle School IB. It differs completely from high school.
Now there is one for younger grades; that is not Skyline. The IB Middle is politically important
to spread in PPS to make it look like Carole is improving the curriculum rigor. My experience in 2 middles,
& our County, is Middle IB does not in oractice intersect with rigor. Teachers either teach rigorous material, whether it is IB or not, or they don’t. It can improve middle schoolers paragraph writing skills if taken seriously. (ours wasn’t, as the student has to regurgitate key words & reflection themes.) Skyline’s should have in reased school visitors, including staff from other PPS schools thinking of implementing, Central Office, etc.

Personally, he doesn’t present as depressed to me (daily activities like running, grooming, ability to plan & execute on job). Looks like an anabolic steroid user more recently (body build, receding hairline, temper out of nowhere with ex-gf) . Maybe anxiety and/or ocd. It will be interesting if police found steroids in his homes.
