Kyron Horman Missing: New Years Eve Settlement Ends Horman Marriage
Portland, OR- In a surprise court hearing, Judge Henry Kantor signed off on the agreement between Kaine Horman and Terri Moulton Horman to end their marriage this afternoon.
Details of the agreement have not been released publicly, but according to KGW, a financial settlement to include child support and a lump payment to Terri Horman has been reached.
In what can only be described as a bitter family court feud- the divorce matter was last in court on December 16th to decide if the Horman landscaper, Rodolfo Sanchez Estrada -who alleges Terri Horman tried to hire him to murder Kaine Horman at a lunch meeting – would testify.
Judge Kantor has not yet filed an order from that hearing but Attorneys for Terri Horman were granted a continuance from the pending temporary custody motion scheduled for December 19th and 20th.

The thing is if I re-read his litigation against 24 Hr I’d know the month 24 Hr gave Briede the boot.
I’m too lazy. But it was 2009, the Edge was not open, & Kaine was back at 24 Hr where Briede was not welcome.
So I don’t think Kaine & Briede had converse. Imo his puffery of Kaine in July 2010, and pissery of Terri, was pure marketing 101 for his new gym.

The various and sundry roid arrests I have posted over the years. A source told me several of them were lined up to provide depositions for TH side of the custody case. In my view, that was the reason Kaine settled at all instead of going to trial.

I watched this show and it was interesting. apparently the woman family that was being cyber stalked by another woman who BTW did not actually know any of the family members and read the story in the news.
This poor family’s oldest daughter was thought to be the victim of suicide due to being bullied online. The girls death was ruled a suicide by local LE and the coroner.
The cyberstalker believed that the younger sister of the dead girl had beaten her to death with a baseball bat. (pretty weird since the older deceased sister seemed to be about 15 years of age and the younger sister looked to only be about 12.) The cyberbully woman based her information on having the same first name as the deceased girl and claimed she had seen a vision of the murder.
This poor family was being harassed thru face book, emails etc.. relentlessly by the nutso cyber stalker. Every day the stalker would post insults accusations about the younger sister and mom.
(starting to sound familiar?)
The cyber stalker claimed she spent 5 hours a day posting on her Facebook (withe 600 likes) blaming the younger sister for her older sisters death and claiming the girls mother was covering the crime up. The poor family had gotten a cease and desist order against the stalker but stalker woman ignored it posting she had wiped her a$$ with it.
What was interesting here is the cyberstalker bully mom when confronted about her action by Dr. Phil said things and sounded just like a certain hater we know SG. She said the same things SG says every day it was weird and she apparently lacked any ability to see her actions and how she was a bully just like SG.
Phil finally told her that he thought the only reason for the cyber bullying/stalking was her desire to somehow be important.
I wish FB would do something about these people. They are so nuts that most of the time the followers of these people believe they are the ones being harassed. The can read a point by point list about what cyber bully’s do and not even notice it is describing them.

There are very specific psychological reasons why people stalk others and they have nothing at all to do with the reason “why” they claim they do it. Dr. Philmenot is right. Self-importance and worth one cannot glean in any other way, coupled by ease of access is at the top of the list. It breaks my heart to see a teen suicide of any kind- the cyber bully thing is just unreal.

Plaintiffs allege that defendant threatened its employees to prevent them from working for plaintiffs, and fired several employees who accepted positions with Xtreme before their two-week notice period had expired. Plaintiffs further allege that defendant intentionally damaged the electrical wiring and data communication lines in its Tanasbourne location. Plaintiffs initiated this lawsuit because of this retaliatory conduct.

If 24 Hr got their lease lost notice on 1/15/10, and had to be out 2/28, MAJ Dev. worked swiftly to have a 04/10 opening. There was only say 6 weeks down time. So by mid April the Hormans were back at 24 Hour.
there was a time peroid between mid-Feb and mid-April where the Hormans had to go to one of the other 24 Hr locations than the norm. (There are 3 in Beaverton.) Maybe Kyron came to someone’s attention in child care room.

Who else in the Horman circle of acquaintances, gym buddies, coaches, teachers, etc., knew how to sign, and maybe more importantly, could read signs proficiently? Does Ms. Porter sign?
What about Kaine? To whom did Terri regularly sign? Her parents?

Knowledge of signing can be an important job skill, and can count as your second language for many colleges.
I can only say James is fluent- outside of that I don’t know.

TRuth. Some people, like my husband, cannot be benefitted by a hearing aide in the nonhearing ear. Nerve deafness is what it is. I refer to Ms Porter. The accommodations she herself wrote about which she received in college indicate a person who is not benefitted at all, at least in a classroom setting, by a hearing aide but needs written transcription of oral speech. It is the height of instructional folly she is teaching a K class where clear phoneme pronunciation and association with written symbols is vital. In my experience with similarly hearing impaired teachers, a hearing impaired person of this severity inevitably misprounces important phonemes and inevitably mishears children whose own oral motor & speech skills are weak. Frankly, her disability is best suited to middle & high school if she is to be in the classroom.

You know, up until today, I always thought that sentence read as James saying Terri taught Kyron sign language.
Now however, I’m thinking why would Tarver know that, so now I think article was supposed to read *James said, Terri was the first to recognize that Kyron needed glasses, and she taught me sign language when I was six months old.* Ron Tarver most likely being there with James during this particular interview added, that she was proud of that, being as he would have been there when James was 6 months old. (I never could figure out what signing had to do with needing glasses, now it makes more sense.)
However, I would think she probably taught Kyron and Kiara as well. I know I would want my children to be able to communicate their needs to me if my hearing was impaired. Kids are such fast learners when they’re young, like little sponges they are, I think it would be a great tool for any of us to have. Being able to communicate across the room would have been fun!
For me, if Kyron knew sign language, and I agree with you that he likely did- this is an important “miss” on behalf of LE in advising the public of this ability. As an example- what if Kyron were afraid to call attention for help to himself verbally for fear of detection so he thought signing was a good option? Longshot maybe- but I can tell you that the ability to speak an alternative language to English (signing both using and understanding) is an important aspect of a childs victimology study as well as potential investigative tool for witnesses.
I have no training in overall hearing impaired languages, or frankly, how to interview someone that was- but I can tell you as a point of fact it would be a consideration in an interview ( not if subject was wearing aid, and examiner tested the unit themselves ( if qualified). I did receive a private post from a reader/poster that advised me that they wear a hearing amp device since a very young age, HOWEVER they as technology has advanced, they find they must remove or turn off in crowds, public and sporting events because it is the equivalent at times at being able to hear everything like a firehose.
So I will ask- I wonder if when TH was interviewed and subsequently polygraphed if her hearing issue was a factor?

Who was the manager of that gym? Also, why did Kaine and Terri use separate gyms in the first place? Someone said they used to both work out at the same gym. Did KH have a membership at both gyms? Did Terri work out at the edge gym, and then after the steroid phone call, switch gyms? Did Leckey ever work for Bob Briede, when he was the manager of the 24 hour gym?

Totally agree, Rose. It reminded me (not to make light of a serious issue) of my experience the first year I moved from Kentucky to Oregon and started teaching 3rd grade. When I gave the traditional spelling test – word, sentence with word, word – totally unexpected letters kept turning up in the student’s answers. Finally, I got so frustrated, I asked the class after a couple of weeks – “Why aren’t you getting these words right, we worked so hard on them all week?” Finally one brave boy spoke up and said, “That’s the way YOU SAY them!” The others agreed and we all laughed. I immediately started working on a new “Oregon accent”.
Needless to say, the spelling tests began to steadily improve. Sometimes I let a student say the words, too. Anybody who thinks that doesn’t matter to kids and who isn’t receiving or providing some sort of assistance for children in this situation, doesn’t belong in education, IMO.

@TRuth. When the 24 Hr closed due to loss of lease, and Edge who moved into that former 24 Hr space was not yet
open for business, and their former 24 Hr was also closed until it built out a new space nearby their old site, both Hormans were forced to go to a different 24 Hour. Their old 24 Hr reopened in April per that mgr’s Linked in. Briede opened Edge in the old site the Hormans were used to driving to in early May. I presume the Hormans used their 24 Hr membership and went there until Marketing 101 Briede began donating goods from his just-opened new business (was it water?) & trumpeting his own horn in the press. Certainly there was an argument for Kaine to buy a new membership (I bet Briede waived the fee) at Edge because Briede had hired away many 24 employees they knew, and they were used to driving to that site. And it looks like Briede hired plenty of eye candy. Erose is correct Briede’s sister remained with 2; Hr; whether at the same location I don’t recall. Her job was corporate if I recall correctly.
@TRuth. picture was at their 24 Hr gym I think it’s called Tannisburne or similar. Edge (Advantage Fitness) had not even been incorporated in Nov 09, and 24 Hr at the Horman’s location had not yet closed; it closed in Feb ’10 and reopened at a nearby location in april.

This thought occurred to me also (discreetly asking for help), but my first thought was about the “he saw it all and was involved” comment. Granted, I have no way of knowing if that was true or what it meant exactly, but I wondered if Kyron might have seen a signing conversation and understood at least part of it, becoming a liability to someone who wanted to take no chances.
With family members meeting in a restaurant to exchange children for the weekend visits, and with restaurant noise being what it usually is, I can’t believe there is anyone in this group of people who didn’t know Terri signed, and that at least James and Kyron could too. Knowing brothers, it wouldn’t surprise me if James and Kyron sometimes communicated with each other that way. My guess is that Kyron wasn’t able to spell a lot of words yet (and therefore sign by spelling), but certainly could have gotten the concepts.
This also opens up a new train of thought for me about the relationship between Ms. Porter and Kyron. Kyron understood hearing difficulties. Young kids naturally like to please their teachers who normally encourage that with lots of encouragement and feedback. If Kyron did not follow directions of one or more adults at school (and we don’t know exactly what that involved), there was a reason. Since Kyron did not seem to have that problem at home, and appeared happy, my guess is that there was more to the adult (behavior) side of the story than we know, or something Kyron didn’t want adults to know.
We can’t ask Kyron his version any of this, but there’s a lot more to know than we’ve been given, IMO. And since Terri was said to have asked for the behavior (report) cards each day, it seems that she knew what his behavior was like, but it doesn’t seem like she knew why either.
There are so many unknowns, I have to keep using words like “appears” and “seems”. It’s like forming an opinion about a cloud shape which keeps changing as it blows over.
As to whether Terri’s hearing was a factor in the polygraph results, I don’t know, but I’ll bet Houze thinks so.

That is an excellent point. He could have been signing *help me* or *call 911*. If he knew signing, it should have been right there with his description and the clothes he wore, etc. Of course, no one ever bothered to point out the child has not one, but two moles on his face either!
OTOH, thinking into this further, maybe LE would NOT say if Kyron knew signing so as to not tip off his abductor of said skills. Scratching head now.
Anyway that article was written poorly, so who knows whether he does or not.
It just occurred to me that I should learn and will learn, at least two signings:
Call 911 and Help.
If you think about it, both Briede’s sister and TH stayed with 24 Hr.
Edge opened in early May. That’s not enough time to say either TH or KH “stayed” with 24 Hr. And Briede stole so many 24 Hr employees, who knows who employed Ledecky in May or June?
Anyway, it’s more likely TH would stop Ledecky & gush with pics on June 4 if she’d been in Ledecky’s gym site a couple months during renovation but no longer saw her after the new Tannasburne 24 Hr site’s grand opening.

Thanks for the link. IMO Briede had had it in for TMH even before the O’donnell separate/conquer.
Could go back further and complicate than the steroid issue. TMH appeared to have rejected the body-building career post her ‘competition’ – that Briede encouraged. Could she have ‘dissed’ the program that Briede felt had put him on the map?

Adding to that, Woolf, per DDS Terri was against nutritional supplements in body building and likely had a health missionary’s zeal in persuading gym ladies to forgo a lucrative source of income for Briede thru their sales. Such sales have been a hallmark of his businesses.

It is a Shame the ADA puts officers on the stand knowing–from bank surveillance footage–the officer is
committing perjury. Hopefully Houze’ civil suit will get DOJ attention. The City will be
desperate to settle; I hope Houze does not. Which comes back to reams of exculpatory footage
from multiple businesses and private cameras wrt Terri. Terri’s very brief gym stop
on 6/4 could have been becauseKaine required her to be his mule that day–like the cleaners–making
a pickup at a quiet time of day, child in tow. One reason she woukd not go public with his steroid purchases.
