People in the news comments are describing JLM’s photo ops now as looking “eager, cow faced, and trying to look innocent.” His photos do look very odd and wide eyed which seems so strange.
I am afraid the public has had enough of the vile Mr. JLM. Based on the comments to the national and world wide articles. I daresay Mr. Matthew is not going to get the special snowflake treatment which he has counted on, any longer.
It is a shame, such a shame, that so many LE agencies, VSP from Morgan’s case if they had not ignored the obvious taxi drivers, and all manner of history for the past decade held the info as to who did this from the get go—- if only the basics had been addressed. This should not have been a hard case to solve, if the system has not been willfully blind and deceiving itself.
Investigation and full accountability is demanded.
I think we all know the cause of death of poor Hannah Graham. The same way to dear Morgan Harrington. Violent rape, broken bones. No mercy. He is a monster. Just ask our lady from Fairfax. Thank God the monster ran away before he had finished his evil or she would have been dead too. I suppose he would have just left the Fairfax victim right there behind the pool, had he killed her. He wouldn’t have been able to take her anywhere. Who else has he hurt? Has his mother said anything yet? I am sorry for her, as a mother, but I can’t help but wonder what she knew about her son and what he is capable of. I doubt he felt remorse when Morgan and Hannah begged him to stop. We know Morgan fought back. Fairfax fought too. Dear Lord forgive me but I hate him.
Of course I may be way wrong (not unusual), but here are my cogitations about the limited revelation from the autopsy report:
How could the ME determine a cause and means of death and declare it to be homicide from mere bones? Of course, simply finding her dead would mean homicide. It is certain Hannah Graham did not die of natural causes.
However, there is one way bones could reveal a cause of death that would possibly even relate Hannah Graham’s murder to both Morgan Harrington’s and Cassandra Morton’s murders.
All three remains were discovered with their skulls separated from the other bones. If this is not a naturally occurring phenomenon as remains become skeletal, and if there were hack marks on the neck bones, the three deaths could be caused by beheadings or the attacks did include beheading post-mortem.
Additionally, all three of women’s remains were found near creeks, another possible connection.
Wondering if there was a well-used beheading instrument found in the apartment or JM’s vehicle?
I haven’t heard of any indication that JLM had converted to Islam or Black Muslim Supremacy as many young blacks claim to be these days, so IF beheading is involved, and JM is not a self-proclaimed Muslim, would beheading relate back to George the slave and the Lewis brothers?
A strange and inappropriate reference to Allah, begging forgiveness, was scrawled on Hannah Graham’s memorial wall. Inappropriate because Islam is characterized by its abduction, rape, mutilation, beheading and maltreatment of women through the centuries.
I wondered why no one helped HG that night she went missing. Why did she walk so far so fast only to walk into the arms of JM? This article gave me some insight into that and the realities of life on the UVA campus.

Thanks for the link Indahlia.
This is a sickening story about the abuse of women on a college campus. Unfortunately, this isn’t the only campus that condones such behavior.
More than sixty years ago,as a college student, I rejected the Greek organizations on campus because of their ugly behavior.
The moral fiber of society was much greater at that time and still their behavior was far outside by my standards. It has only gotten worse with the development of a “hook-up” culture among the youths of high school and college students today.
This will not change until the women put a stop to it by rejecting such social concepts. This means they will not attend the parties where the behavior gets out of hand and will let the guys know the reason. They will have to behave as young Ladies and not emulate some tart that makes a living in entertainment by being outrageous.
There is an interesting article about the development of a new DNA sequencing machine at the mother jones web site.
The developer is a California company named IntegenX and the product is called Rapid Hit. It will sequence DNA is 90 minutes when fed DNA that is clean (not mixed with other DNA). The machine is selling for $250,000. The FBI is in the process of testing it for deployment at the border and in refugee operations to determine family relationships.
There is a nice picture of the unit with the article. It is about the size of a large printer. The sequencing equipment is the large area to the right and the printer (probably an ink jet)is located on the left side. It probably operates on 12 volts or less and would be portable and usable in an auto.
AT this time it will reduce the DNA sequence time by a factor of 32 on clean DNA. However, the developers do not see its use to process the huge backlog of rape kits because of the mixed DNA often collected in a rape kit.
If they have come this far, with the miniaturizing of equipment, the hand held units may soon be developed. And, because of the normal evolution of electronics to be improved and reduced in production costs, the price may rapidly come down to more affordable levels.

Blink – do you know anything about Chelsea Bruck missing in Michigan after a Halloween party? These young people MUST adopt a buddy system, especially when out drinking.
Only basic info. Absolutely must use the buddy system at all times. The sheriff needs to escalate the investigation to trained personnel based on comments I have read. Unfortunately, it is my opinion this young lady is deceased.

Retire her.
Or fire her.
Where’s the UVA Board?
Admin tells a raped girl, it’s all up to you hun,
and when the U gets bad PR, take back the power & revictimize.
The RStone article was anonymous.
UVA is demanding she no longer be anonymous but
comply with the criminal Court system.
The issue is UVA policies & procedures in the event rape on
campus by a peer is reported to an Admin.
UVA’s administrative P&P were negligent,
but they’re going to cover that up,
rather than reform, on the student’s back.
Some students should get out a few skis & demonstrate with candles that the U
response is to throw a student to the sharks (the frat), not
internally reform.
The issue of conflict of interest has to be addressed once and for all- a criminal event- or an alleged criminal event subject to due process has no business in a board room with a chit-ton of folks who are paid by the parents or by proxy- the accused. That is just reality.
B
OT. It appears alias “Jackie” is a current student
—coming up to finals time! Oh, UVA Pres sats just do a prosecutirial interview against a frat
during your finals..
Any competent Charlottesville resident (say a feminist faculty member, or staffer in
Chi Alpha say) who opens a gofundme (which I normally dislike) to pay future &
defray past UVA tuition and psychological support, I’m in for $50. I suppose
the GFM Volunteer Manager could route disbursement thru RS as an intermediary.
Maybe this is the “straw that broke the camel’s back” and now something will be done to fix the situation. This assault and rape occurred in a fraternity house, one of the most dangerous places for young women on a college campus.
Someone or several someones have trashed the house. They are lucky it was not burned to the ground. Having said that, it is an angry outburst and should not have happened.
What needs to happen is to suspend that particular fraternity until the investigation is completed. If during the investigation other fraternities are found to engage in similar behavior, they too should be suspended.
Every listed member of that fraternity in 2012 should be taken to the C’ville PD for interrogation including those that have graduated. There could also be members of other fraternities that attended that party. None should be excluded from the investigation by CPD.
Well…I hope the investigation into the mess at the UVA campus doesn’t distract from the investigation into Hannah’s abduction and death. It’s become more apparent that UVA is inextricably tied to Hannah’s passing if only because of JM’s employment.
Those missing 50 minutes of Hannah’s life seem all the more important now. Wondering if she was really wanderingduring that time.
http://wtvr.com/2014/11/21/jesse-matthew-hearing-delay/
There was another sick pervert in Virginia during the 1980′s. Timothy Wilson Spencer was convicted on dna evidence in the forefront of the technology.
His case is interesting in regards to this case because he was known as a burglar before he escalated to serial rape-murders, and reading the history, back then police found that strange. Only one investigator connected the dots.
It seems similar to the jlm case because he was so well known in his peer set and in the community and on the mall, as “harmless, gentle giant” that evidently that connotation was used to excuse and overlook his antics. Plus the system and family connections—-
So we can also see from this case how LE was duped into willful blindness of JLM because he had a traffic record, trespassing, road rage and presumably in LE mindset that does not cross reference to the possibility of serial murder.
Presumably a serial murderer would keep his antics low key, not in the face, in order to stay undetected. That is not what Spencer did, nor is it what JLM did. Spencer’s crimes terrorized Richmond and NVA in 1987 because of the vile nature of his antics. So there is something to be compared here in these two like individuals.

_________
I literally became ill reading this piece. WTH is going on in the world?
I will also make a mention that in hindsight it seems that jlm’s remorse over the 2009 road rage may have been triggered by the idea in his mind that this would connect him to 2005-Fairfax. He was correct, dna would have done that.
The other similarity between Timothy Spencer and JLM is that both escalated while the system was aware of their lower level antics such as burglary and in JLM’s case the road rage, the trespassing, and the traffic violations. I suspect some in LE also knew about the problems at college. But these were two like cases based on the escalating anger and the later vile and depraved acts against women. Both men also assaulted men at some earlier point with their rage. Spencer killed a man, and JLM had his punching incident with Wilkes.
So these two were all across the board in the effects of their acting out. JLM was screaming to get caught. They system wanted to look the other way.
Well here, UVA shouldn’t feel so alone, ODU appears to have gang rape inside their dorms as well. OMG, I am so glad I no longer have a daughter college age.

I know Cassandra Morton’s skull was found detached but is it true of Morgan and Hannah? I missed that info being released,
For the record, there is no evidence that any of the above victims heads were severed and did not detach so to speak ( our heads are not attached bone on bone folks- there is tendons and musculature systems in place as well as our vertebrae/and so on. In the decompositional process there is what is called disarticulation which simply put means, those structures that are not bones decompose first, giving way to scenarios whereby remains are found apart from each other. Very, very common considering the remains status and animal predation.

In reading the links by Eloise and Rose to the rape stories it does not surprise me. There has to be an entire culture change at colleges and universities to correct this issue.
As I posted earlier, a frat house is a dangerous place for young women whether it is located on campus property or private property. Another dangerous situation is allowing co-ed dorms or not enforcing no females in an male only or no males in a female only dorm past a room designated as the social room. That room should be closed at 10::00 P.M on week nights and midnight on weekends.
Someone should share the Rolling Stones story and the comments with the Governor of Virginia. The legislature should consider some legislation that has big penalties for an administration and the Board of Directors covering up assaults and rapes of students either on campus or off if done by students. That legislation should also take away the ability for a school to have their own police force and require the County Sheriff or town/city PD to do the policing.
Rape is a felony in every state. Those administrators that have covered up rapes of their students should be charged with obstruction of justice with applicable jail time and fines when proven.
This is a start.
http://www.wric.com/story/27457446/uva-suspends-fraternal-activities-amid-probe
I’m not sure if people realize what a UGE decision this was for UVA- especially at this time of year.
I have a very long list of things that should have been done differently there, however, for today I will focus on the positive and yes- it is a start.
B
What’s appalling is that it took the negative publicity of an article in Rolling Stone to finally get some response from the university. Is that what’s required? A tenacious journalist to dig under the rock and expose all the yucky stuff underneath for all the world to see?
Apparently.
B
Thanks for the link PamVa
This is a start. The new procedures still under consideration are posted in a PDF file accessed in the left column last entry. It is 64 pages long.
I have only read a few pages and I already have questions. Will reread and take notes. One thing I did notice is that the UVA hospital is the only place in the city that has rape kit certified people. Since we already know that on a recent case, the nurse taking the rape kit managed to loose the data and she also served on the sexual assault committee at the University-a conflict of interest that cost the young woman justice. That is a know case of obstruction of justice by university people.
The UVA medical facility may be the only facility open 24/7. I don’t know why that CPD doesn’t have trained people and a location that is certified to state standards for processing rape kits.
There is a comment link on the web site. People from all over the country need to make comments regarding the procedure in review and make suggestions for improvement. They could also let the university know their feelings about conditions of the past and present regarding process and procedures and outright coverup of such behavior.
To point fingers and find factual accounts of misconduct should be done, but that is only half the job. The other half is to make viable suggestions about improvement and see what happens.
As we are all wondering if it took a comedian to expose Cosby. (Whoda thunk pop culture could bring about karmic retribution.)

I heard on NPR this morning about the suspension of frat activities at UVA. The Rolling Stone article did seem to shake things up. It was horrible what happened to that young girl. It was interesting to me that this week both the TV show “The Good Wife” and “Bluebloods” dealt with rape on college campuses and attempted cover-up by University officials.
Am I the only one who finds Dean Groves insipid comments, and Pres. Sullivan jetting off to Netherlands, wholly unacceptable? Groves said something like “some of the fraternity gentlemen are behaving ok, some of them need to be re-educated.” WTH. This is not a process of looking back at the past which cannot be corrected, and planning a re-education, the past can still be made accountable which Groves wants us to totally ignore. These Colleges are so apt to avoid accountability and give a talking to, which is not effective, while affirming “re-education” and the hope that these people “will do better.” This is a process of these little college fiefdoms which have been set up as mini-municipalities each with their own self aggrandizement program in place, their own boards of “very important people” with reputations to keep, and their own aspirational striving to own the world and admit no wrong—-have got to be deconstructed.
A lot of stonewalling and smooth talking is being done, to benefit the priveliged ones who are guilty, and this was the problem from the get go. Do you notice how Sullivan was so tentative about cancelling the fraternities for the month of Christmas vacation? What should be so hard to do about that, the fall semester is practically over, now, and classes do not start back up until January. The prime social time is over, now, and this was not any big sacrifice which is was incorrectly made out to be.
Dean Grove’s comments about “re education of frat men” totally minimize this issue in a way that makes UVa look like a bunch of idiots. Sullivan jetting out of the country was bizarre.
Perhaps she needs to really be fired this time around. The students saved her last time, but it is clear that she is not facing the problems of JlM being hired and working in that hospital, and this incessant problem as well. Something is very wrong with this picture and it is apparent in the reactions from UVa that we are seeing. Cancelling the frats for one month of vacation is not any kind of punishment, nor will it be effective.
GRoves continuing the smooth talk and minimization strategy is unacceptable.
I agree with Rose on this one- I think the Board is running this show.
B
@ ATG—I agree with you about “obstruction of justice.” Until these colleges recognize that this is not a game that they are entitled to play, corruptly enforcing or not enforcing the law, whatever suits them at the moment, then we have got a problem of criminal acts being committed by specific administrators in these colleges. They now have “accredited police departments” which is mostly a farce. What these “accredited police departments” do is check the block of police oversight while whistling the college line and blocking legitimate oversight. It is unacceptable.
I saw that some people were arrested yesterday for vandalism of that frat house in question, which begs the question of the odd variations in non-prosecution of JLM for the past decade, the odd persecution of Elizabeth Daly, and the rest of the willfull blindness of this bizarre system of rapes. People however can be arrested for protesting all of this.
Administrators pulling the strings, and administration in these Colleges failing to inform the board of visitors of the problems which was evident in the RS article, are doling out some freaky varieties of justice. That is the only logical conclusion from all of this.
There can never be an interplay of criminal act and conflict of interest in investigation and due process, imo. I would argue it is contradictory to statute and the only reason it survives is because by virtue of their enrollment they agree to it.
B
And the response, Mosaic, was pure headline-grabbing PR–suspend all frats.
Then, after a Freeh-like “investigation,” and likely a written report in
some form, all but 1 or 2 bad apples will be identified; and, the institution itself exhonorated.
the current Gov’s wife wasBoard Chair at a truly lovely school, the school of
children of himself, and Warner, Beyer, Kilberg, & others…
Board members, movers & shakers. In fact
Kilberg gave a nice goodbye speech to a Head departure she felt partially
responsible for hiring even when she was no longer on the Board. The Lovely School
harbored a pedo teacher for a couple decades til he was
passed on to another school. And everytime I read retirement paens to the worst of staff,
I marveled. The important principle was PR and repeating the mantra, “It’s
a lovely school.” What I learned is unless one’s child is the one suffering active harm–say a rape
or murder–or has the incompetent teacher who was hired via being someone’s cousin, or the
one who emotionally abuses entire classes for decades–one’s view of the
school experience is entirely different and wholly positive.
Therefore, the vast majority of UVA parents, students, & alumni
will have the perspective that UVA, while having a
handful of individual tragedies, is a lovely school.
Imo when you see PR like Sullivan is dishing out
(the girl is now by her fiat criminal case involved;
frats are suspended pending investigation),
there will be no internal real reform.
Blink. suspending all fratd (primarily during Thanksgiving & school winter closure
when there are no mixers anyway), is a dramatic PR gesture period, imo.
I suspect the phone line to
Freeh has been well-used by at
least one member of the uva Board
wrt this latest “crisis.”
my pov is Sullivan could not have had better training than under Univ Pres Mary Sue Coleman at UMich, an equally big drinking, party, & Greek school, but which as a research institution far outstrips UVA.
So why only a year after investiture was Sullivan booted with no notice? (a history of same linked below.) My take is one cannot underestimate Board members who just may have “fallen” for an alternative leader.
I was dumfounded to read a current UVA BOV’s paen to a retiring NoVA school head which read almost like a longterm “crush” and intimated before his retention & during his tenure, tho not on the Board, she enjoyed the role of a kingmaker.
And in his years 1-3,
many wondered who was his protector after several missteps. So, the original force(s) behind Sullivan’s initial removal need not have been actually on the BoV collaborating with Dragas.
imo what’s happening now, ie suspending all frats, hiring Filip to investigate with Sullivan out of the country, is ALL about Board politics and machinations—imo. And url 2 sats all one needs to know about PR to guard the repr of a “lovely school.”

“My remarks have been forward-looking,” said Sullivan, noting how her recent speeches have focused on raising faculty salaries, on reinventing the curriculum, and improving research. Any talk of June, she said, comes afterwards in the Q&A periods.
“I can’t control what people want to ask me,” said Sullivan.
“Well, good, Terry,” replied Kilberg. “Just say, ‘We’re not entertaining those questions; I want to talk about the future.’”
Sullivan leaned forward to grab a bottle of water, took a sip, but did not respond.”
(I bet she wished it was something stronger.)

imo the Board ordered the frat thing, and the Board (some elements) will work to turn students against Sullivan. The students were her constituency.
Chief Longo was so refreshing because he did not allow his dept to be politicized. and he did not mince words
T Sullivan needs to be out front, announcing immediate internal interim reforms, ignoring Board politics. with her mentor UM’s Coleman to call on for advice, Sullivan is capable of great reform if the BoV sticks to policy. After the Penn State Board dysfunction, and the 2012-14 UVA Board issues, I question whether Govs should appoint Board members.
Second-year UVA student Peter D’Agostino died November 20, 2014 from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was a member of VAAST as was Hannah Graham.
http://www.cavalierdaily.com/m/article/2014/11/second-year-college-student-dies-in-suicide
I misspoke in my earlier post. Peter D’Agostino and Hannah Graham were both members of The Virginia Alpine Ski and Snowboard Team (VASST) a UVA campus organization of about 300 members.
The PR statement by Mrs. Sullivan about the suspension of the fraternities were all upon volunteering to do so except the frat where the young woman was raped in the Rolling Stones article. That one gave up their charter for an on campus presence and will not have a chapter at UVA. There are probably others that need to do the same.
If Sullivan really wants to put a stop to the wild fraternity parties and the danger they pose, she should amend her order to cover the entire spring semester. That would get the proper attention of everyone.
The proposed new student policy is all about title IX and was probably mostly ready long before the revelation of the “Stones” article.
While there is valuable information for young women in the proposal, the university still places itself squarely in first place regarding prosecution of a felony. There is a block chart in color on page 13 that outlines the various services. It lists the University hospital as the first response and LE second.
State law should make LE first and the university second. Chief Longo and the County attorney should weigh-in on this one and demand a switch in position. The fact that the university hospital has the only certified nurses makes for an iffy situation regarding protection and custody of rape materials. This should be changed so the hospital is not allowed to keep the information and evidence.
The Governor has called for an investigation with a state investigative team. With Morgan Harrington, there should have been something similar, but we heard crickets from McDonald. I hope the Governor is serious and this isn’t another “feel good” exercise.

It is easy to blame the “rape culture” at UVA for many of the issues being discussed, but I really don’t feel like UVA takes choirboys and turns them into rapists. As we have seen from the Steubenville incident, these behaviors begin well before college.
UVA has done a very poor job of controlling this behavior, but the root causes go back to these kids home environments. We frequently think of poor families as the source of bad home environments, but kids from “affluenza” environments have developed a sense of entitlement and immunity from the laws of the state and the rules of social behavior.
In my community, I know of parents purchasing alcohol for high school parties (and a few middle school kids go also). These are adults who know better, and these activities are not particularly well-concealed. The sheriff has made efforts to stop this, but some of the kids are from well-connected small-town families and always seem to avoid prosecution.
wrt “He would not have placed it there, correct. It should be noted that it showed no signs that it had been outside exposed to the elements.” Suggests an indoors crime scene, & a roommate where he resided, or
his launderer, recognized the shirt & made it available anomymously.
Would that that person would get brave & step forward to testify.
If you are asking my personal opinion, no. I think they testified by throwing it on that bush- likely a time of high stress.
B
just curious as to where JLM was living at the time of the shirt placement. it had to be a “look over here” statement attempt, but was it an away from the crime scene or here’s your man message. i suppose it could have been both if someone had access to the shirt that was not JLM.
I value your personal opinion.
So perhaps even Jesse himself placed
it there in a time of high stress?
I don’t believe that Rose, although it is a possibility. There was a private LE search the day before it was located ( and I have seen the Nov 11th date holding steadfast but I am confident it was located on the 5th) just after an announcement was made that a new public search would commence the following weekend. I believe strongly that there was more than one piece of evidence located on that search that was tied to Morgan- whether VSP ever made the determination or not.
In short- my theory is that whoever planted the shirt was hoping to get some sort of attention from it- considering it appeared within visual proximity of his employer at the time.
B
Suggesting an inner drive
to be caught & stopped?
You are correct once again GeorgiaDad. These boys who have no respect for women didn’t acquire that behavior overnight. The home environment has everything to do with teaching good behavior.
There are also parents that are not careful with alcohol regarding children. There are also those children who get hooked on beer or other alcoholic beverages that will steal it or try to get an adult to buy it for them.
Regarding Blink’s reply to Rose:
If JM didn’t plant Morgan’s shirt himself, it means that someone else did it and had knowledge of the abduction and her murder. If that turns out to be true, I hope that LE can identify that person or persons and bring them to justice. Had they been good upstanding citizens, they could have prevented Hannah’s death and perhaps others that we may not know about.
A HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL. MAY YOU ALL BE SAFE IF TRAVELING.
Happy Thanksgiving ATG, and to all BOC’ers. I wish you blessings and thankfulness today and all days.

I am continuing to dig for details regarding Title IX regarding the authority that gives College administrations the ability to create disciplinary panels that become prosecution, judge and jury regarding assaults and rapes on their campus.
So far it appears there is no such authority under Title IX. If that turns out to be fact, then they have circumscribed the law and everything they do or have done in the past is null and void.
