Dr. Phil Show Hosts Missing Portland Child Kyron Horman’s Step Mom Terri Horman Over Two Episodes

I have been covering this case since Kyron Horman disappeared from Skyline School in June, 2010.    Like most missing persons cases I have covered in the past,  I am of the strong opinion that best efforts at the truth are the only way to propel investigations that, similarly to Kyron’s, have gone cold for one reason or another.   This approach has worked in resolving some of my previous cases.    I am proud of that.  I remain steadfast to the integrity involved in those and future cases.

Over the past 10 months (or so) I have been developing an updated series on Kyron’s case to include my multiple interviews with Kyron’s step-mom,  Terri Horman.   Needless to say as she was the subject of at least three simultaneous cases before an Oregon court and remains a person of interest by the agency investigating her sons disappearance, this has been an arduous and sometimes delicate journey.    Ms. Horman’s experiences during the ongoing investigation of the disappearance of Kyron Horman are critically important to propelling his case and with great hope- finding the truth about what happened to this cherubic and innocent child.    There are dozens of sources,  collateral interviews, forensic experts and legal analysts that also contribute to my series and have done so because of their belief that my motivation is to bring to light information and opinions in such a way that would almost “require” a focused review of Kyron’s case and the likely shaking of that proverbial tree everyone talks about.

Set to publish about 6-ish weeks ago I was asked to postpone the first installment of the series, which I did.  I subsequently learned Ms. Horman was participating in the Dr. Phil program after she completed taping.  Dr. Phils producers were well aware that Ms. Horman had interviewed with me extensively, and anticipated my series would be publishing information that was not known to the public previously in the days prior to her scheduled episode.    When Ms. Horman conveyed to me that she feels obligated to speak out about “her son” in any national medium that will have her,   I most certainly respected that.  I still do.

While Dr. Phil seems like a gregarious fellow for sure,   I have zero interest in being associated with his program, nor do I believe his shows content is designed to do any furtherance of investigation or truth.  There is much concern (although I have no affiliation to the show whatsoever) that the timing of the publication of my series on the Kyron Horman matter might be interpreted differently or inadvertently contribute to the programs content or audience reactions.     Not what I signed on for.   A missing 7 year old boy six years running is not a framework for entertaining a target audience.   He is not fodder for online social media bully campaigns- yet it occurs.

I will be publishing my series on Kyron’s case at a later date, in it’s entirety with no editing adjustments as a result of any of the appearances on Dr. Phil.   I appreciate your patience and your understanding.   Feel free to discuss the show below.

just bought a used book Milena whose writer & her biographical character, Ravensbruck inmates, were the daughter of Martin Buber & the lover of Kafka. Their story gives incredible history of the Sudetenland, Ravensbruck, Prague, Czechoslavakia, Stalin’s Russia, etc. Both were avowed Communist Party members who abjured that membership due to their personal knowledge of Russian govt & Communist lies. That hit me wondering how that differed from US govt officials who lie. One needn’t look to national politics at present when wondering how Americans have become inured to govt employees who lie in their official capacities. I am thinking of MCSO/MCDA who lied to the public and to a County Court in the investigation of this case, justifying it as advancing the investigation. Such affirmative lies to the public taxpayers are analogous to “withholding evidence” (ie existence if the man K left with, Terri’s verified timeline, clearance of Spicher) to “advance the investigation when it’s really self-protective from lawsuits & egg on their face. Any prosecutor who needs withhold facts to maje a case & try a perp is inept. The “we have facts only the real killer will know” withholding is only useful if someone walksin the door yo cop a plea & the the prosecutor doesn’t need it. There should be corroborating facts in evidence. Anyway, morally I can’t see the difference between Russian lies & OR County employee lies in a criminal investigation where an innocent party is sent to a figurative gulag like Spicher.

This is the second time this week a stranger has offered elementary school students a ride while students are walking to school, district spokeswoman Lillian Govus said.

A similar incident happened Thursday morning as Englewood Elementary students were walking to school. An adult walking with students confronted the stranger and reported the encounter to police and the school.

Man, this just stinks! I find this whole thing unbelievable, and were I that federal judge, don’t know if he can do this or not, but I’d order the whole case be totally reopened, investigated by perhaps the FBI or at the very least some other jurisdiction well away from Oregon. This whole thing just smacks (and keeps smacking!) of cover-up and corruption.

  11. erose says:

Rose, I agree with you and have thought that, too. Here are my cons to that theory. One, I think about serial killers such as Gary Ridgeway who have had great lapses between killings. For Ridgeway, IIRC he got married and quit killing. Two, the random is much harder to solve, which weighs in more towards random after all these years, although considering MCSO is the lead agency, who knows.

    Agreed.
Couple that with a LEO also saying in the very beginning “If not Terri, then who?”, while talking on national television about how “nervous” TMH was about losing her privacy, etc. “Something wasn’t right”, etc. And don’t forget, if you questioned any of the parents, you got thrown out of the press conferences all together. All conferences were scripted as far as I can see. The question is why and by whom? Who had something to hide?

Frankly, after nine years, one would think someone would be asking questions such as, “If Terri, why no arrest?” WTH is going on? Two grand juries, where’s the Not a True Bill? Why wasn’t the school held accountable? etc. One would think Kyron’s school project was on “crickets” instead of tree frogs. The silence from LE is deafening and has done this case and the community a disservice.

Interesting RedRose that the FBI seems to believe DAD is still out there somewhere.

The FBI is asking the public for tips about a 2011 shooting which left a Lincoln City police officer critically injured and the suspect missing. The agency is highlighting the case, along with several other fugitive cases across the U.S., in honor of National Police Week, which honors officers killed or injured while on duty.

The FBI is still looking for David Anthony Durham, who allegedly shot and badly wounded a Lincoln City police officer in January 2011 after the officer pulled him over for speeding. According to federal court documents and FBI wanted posters, Durham told the officer he was on his way to a military base in California, and was wearing green camouflage clothing and a dark-colored beret.

To my knowledge and sources, there is no person that actually witnessed Kyron leave with anyone, and the last sighting has him out the door as I have been reporting for years. I dare say it is the cornerstone of why this case is so unsolveable.

I think it was Tony that said “If not Terri, then who?”

I copied this stuff below about a month ago thinking the convictee’s family & friends had lots of motive to hurt Tony’s Medford “child.” I’m not rereading but Tony had the same approach. If not this guy then who? He said he sat in front in Trial 2 determined to get this guy convicted. His evidence was the guy had bought a knife recently (which couldn’t be found), and he was one of many at the scene of a melee in which a “White Son of Medford” was stabbed. Though another participant verifiably had & wielded a knife, Tony’s deal was he had the “Who” despite no credible eyewitness or physical evidence and some exculpatory evidence.
