Casey Anthony Case: New Attorney Todd Macaluso Reconstructing the Train Wreck?

As was first reported as breaking news on Blink on Crime yesterday, Todd Macaluso, the most recent addition to the Casey Anthony defense team appeared in court next to Jose Baez during the motions hearing yesterday. ToddM_Bio_1

This is no accident. Pun intended. Among other specialties, Mr. Macaluso is the leading industry attorney in high profile accident reconstruction. Blogs were blazing at this announcement through the evening, as was my email. Further research and case study sheds some light on the possible needs of the Baez Law Firm for Mr. Macaluso’s legal prowess.

Casey Anthony Case: Baez Motion Hearing Results. New Lawyer on the Case

George and Cindy Anthony, seated next to their attorney, Brad Conway, were present to support their daughter, Casey Anthony.

Jose Baez first introduced a new attorney to the defense team: Todd Macaluso. According to Baez, their is a forthcoming motion to introduce him to the docket officially. Therefore, Judge Strickland indicated he did not expect counsel to speak before him in this hearing. Macaluso is a high-profile class action and personal injury attorney with offices in Carlsbad, CA. It is unclear at this point in what capacity he will support the defense team.

Judge Strickland consolidated the issue perfectly:

“I guess your asking me to find a way to not make news out of news”

Baez spent a considerable amount of time arguing the difference of private images and their lack of probative value to the case. Specifically, he gave the analogy that if the state photographed Casey’s underwear drawer, it does not mean that the media has a right to it.

(author’s note: I am willing to bet a photo of an empty drawer would be of zero interest to the media or anyone else.)

Murder victim Caylee Anthony Case against Tot Mom Casey Anthony Updates

Posted by BOC Staff | Casey Anthony,Caylee Anthony Case,Jose Baez | Tuesday 24 February 2009 3:16 pm

Kindness of Strangers

While in prison, Casey Anthony continues to receive donations to her commissary account, largely from strangers. Over $1000 is currently in her commissary account, and the donors come from Florida and all over the U.S.  A High School student following the coverage of Caylee’s Memorial Service on February 10, sent $25 big ones. The Senior, a 15 year old gifted student felt moved by George Anthony’s requests at the memorial to think kindly upon Caylee’s mother. It is not known what the student is “gifted” in, but one might make the assumption it is not in character assessment 101 or forensics.

Padilla on Notice

On Friday, February 20, 2009 Leonard received the nastygram from David Evans, attorney for Roy Kronk.  Evans, originally hired to represent Kronk in matters relating to finding Caylee Anthony’s remains on the job, seems to have gone where no man has gone before: Lenny is quiet. At press time, Leonard has not returned calls for comment.

Evans is quite clear in his correspondence that his office will be reviewing Padilla’s past statements as well as any future comments regarding Mr. Kronk while contemplating civil action. Sources close to Padilla have confirmed that Leonard has been investigating Kronk’s account of finding Caylee’s remains and does not see an issue with it. He believes it is possible the meter reader may have been tipped off via his “daisy chain” theory, unknowingly.

Murder of Caylee Anthony: Case Against Tot Mom Casey Marie Anthony – Duct Tape Matches Gas Cans DISCLOSED. BOMBSHELL DISCOVERY RELEASE – UPDATE: LEE ANTHONY NOT CAYLEE’S DAD

Posted by BOC Staff | Casey Anthony,Caylee Anthony Case | Wednesday 18 February 2009 11:54 am

The latest round of discovery documents have been publicly released by the prosecution this morning.

Among the Bombshell developments in the case against Casey Anthony:

The ductape on Caylee’s skull matches the duct tape found on the gas cans in the Anthony shed.

Annie Downing Statement released.

A PINK T-shirt with the words Big Trouble Comes Small written on it, white shorts and pieces of a pull up, a stained Winnie the Pooh Blanket ,matching that of her nursery linens in the Anthony home.

“Duct tape appeared to be intentionally placed there.”.. Yuri Melich

UPDATE:

10am- NO fingerprints were found on the duct tape belonging to George, Cindy or Lee Anthony.

10:05am- excerpt from Annie Downing statement:

During Caylee’s 2nd birthday, Casey Anthony told Downing “Oh my God, this is supposed to be Caylee’s Day. I’m her mom. She’s not her mom,” in reference to Cindy Anthony helping Caylee open presents.

Downing also told investigators that she received a phone call from Lee Anthony in October after information had been made public about Casey telling another friend she could get some Xanex from her friend named Annie.

UPDATE 2:

10:40am- Excerpt from Annie Downing statement After Casey Anthony was released from jail once last year, Annie Downing visited Anthony several times at her home and spent the night once. Anthony told Downing, “when this is all said and done, I have so much to tell you,” Downing told investigators.

While Downing was visiting the Anthony home, Casey Anthony found Cindy Anthony on the computer using Casey’s email address and signing emails with Casey’s name. They argued about it, but Cindy Anthony told her daughter that “if this can find us Caylee, then you know I’m going to do whatever I can.” Anthony also eluded to the fact that her ex-fiancé Jesse Grund had a key to her car and “may have done something to it after it was abandoned,” the report said.

The two stopped being close friends around August 2007 because Downing found out that Anthony was a liar, the report said

During Caylee’s 2nd birthday, Casey Anthony told Downing “Oh my God, this is supposed to be Caylee’s Day. I’m her mom. She’s not her mom,” in reference to Cindy Anthony helping Caylee open presents.

Michelle Murphy, former roommate of Lee Anthony interview excerpt-  In Feburary 2007, Casey Anthony allegedly had a miscarriage from a man named Brandon Snow. None of her friends, including Annie Downing or Murphy, believed this was true.

On two different occasions, Lee and George Anthony told Murphy that Cindy and George Anthony were considering getting custody of Caylee, the report said.

In March 2007, shortly after the alleged miscarriage, Anthony called Murphy and told her she was feeling “crazy” and was considering getting “herself committed,” the report said. Anthony had “imagined this life with Brandon [Snow] and that she was supposed to have this baby in October,” according to the report. In both Michelle Murphy and Annie Downing interviews, they mentioned they did not believe Casey had a miscarriage.

UPDATE 4:

11am- Caylee Anthony hyperventilated and asked for medication when she was notified that her daughter’s body had been found last December. According to the report.

Investigators have determined that Caylee died between June 16 and June 27, the report said. Detectives think that the body was stored in the trunk of Anthony’s Pontiac for a period of time, but was removed before June 27.

“Evidence on the body suggests that the child’s death was not accidental but an intentional act,” Detective Yuri Melich wrote Feb. 5. “As of this writing, there is nothing to suggest that anyone but Casey Anthony is responsible for the death and disposal of Caylee Anthony.”

UPDATE 5:

Numerous bones, including human teeth and animal bones. Several pieces of plastic bags. A pregnancy test. Discarded soda cans, A broken Winnie the Pooh helium balloon, Barbie doll legs, A disposable camera, A piece of “Henkel Consumer Adhesives” duct tape, the same kind found wrapped around the skull and attached to a gas can at the house.

UPDATE 6:

Following the execution of the Search warrant for the Anthony home on December 11, 2008, the following inventory report reflects what was seized:

  • Nine pair of women’s shoes from Casey Anthony’s closet
  • A white/red heart-shaped sticker backing with sticker removed that was found in a shoe box in Casey Anthony’s dresser.
  • A sheet for red heart-shaped stickers with the three remaining on the page found in a red folder in her dresser.
  • A sheet for multi-colored heart-shaped stickers in a black binder in her dresser.
  • Two white-rimmed plastic children’s sunglasses.
  • Two pair of children’s denim shorts — size 24M
  • Three denim children’s skorts – one 3T and two 24M
  • Miscellaneous doll clothing
  • Five pairs of children shoes
  • One black garbage bag found inside a suitcase in the garage area
  • Two handwritten notes from a chest in Caylee’s room
  • Some muscle-relaxers and anti-anxiety medications were taken from the master bathroom that were prescribed to Cindy Anthony.

UPDATE 7:

1:30PM  According to the documents, the laundry bag found at the scene and at the Anthony’s are identical.

A Disturbing piece of evidence revealed a haunting journal entry by Casey:

“This is the happiest I have been in a very long time. I hope that my happiness will continue to grow.”

Casey also wrote that she had “no regrets, just a bit worried. I just want for everything to work out okay. I completely trust my own   judgment and knew that I made the right decision. I just hope that the end justifies
the means. I just want to know what the future will hold for me. I guess I will soon see.”

Author’s Note, Am I the only person that sees the year ’03 written on the left hand of the page? I am not sure this entry fits. I would be more inclined to think this is a very old entry; pre MySpace era as she has done little writing but doodling hopeful boyfriend names.

Lee Anthony is NOT Caylee’s Father. One waits to see if Leonard will be willing to make his apologies this evening on Nancy Grace. I am certainly sitting by my bat phone as he owes me a fat, resounding “You were right!”

Casey Anthony Case, Murder of 34 month old Caylee Update – States Attorney’s Office: We are done Playin’ Footsie, It’s a Match. Jose Baez Hospitalized – UPDATE: DOCUMENT HAILSTORM TOMORROW

Posted by BOC Staff | Casey Anthony,Caylee Anthony Case | Tuesday 17 February 2009 11:03 pm

On Monday February 16, the State’s Attorney’s office released over 1000 pages of new discovery evidence to the defense. The  public release  is scheduled for mid week.  I spoke exclusively to an inside source within the 9th Circuit offices, and was advised that the prints on the duct tape match that of Caylee’s Mother and the woman charged with her murder, Casey Marie Anthony.

There is little doubt given that finding the death penalty will be back on the table post haste.

Zenaida Gonzalez & Annie Leigh Downing’s Excellent Adventure: Zannie and Annie Go to Traffic Court

Posted by BOC Staff | Casey Anthony,Caylee Anthony Case,Jose Baez,Missing Persons,Murdered,Tot Mom,Zenaida Gonzalez | Friday 16 January 2009 12:25 pm

When asked the question, do you’re Clients still believe a Zenaida Gonzalez is responsible for what happened to Caylee? Brad Conway, attorney representing George and Cindy Anthony responds:

“They do, but not the Zenaida represented by Mr. Morgan…”

Anthonys

If your like me, you are as bewildered as one can get at the insistence of “Camp Casey”  to continue to suggest that a person with this name is involved in the abduction and murder of 34 month old Caylee Anthony. Perhaps Attorney Baez and his Cum Laude Clan are preparing their Columbo moment in this regard while fighting over who gets to be Colonel Mustard in the study .

Although listed as a witness for the Prosecution released by the State’s Attorney’s office on January 11, 2008, Annie Leigh Downing’s Interview with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office has never been made public.  Her cell phone records and any IM or text messages between her and Casey Anthony have also never been made public although other witnesses have.

Failure To Yield

That may be the gross understatement of the year describing Casey Anthony. But in this scenario, it is actually a traffic citation, one of two, given to a Zenaida Gonzalez, on May 24, 2008.

No, again, this is not the Zenaida represented by Mr. Morgan, this is a different Zannie, with a birth date of January 11, 1986. Wow. Just a mere 3 months older than Casey.  Did they go to school together? Have mutual friends? Fellow Fusionite?

Nope, Not the Best Driving Record

Annie Downing had a rough couple months this Spring in the traffic area. On March 30, 2008, she received citations for both Speeding 15-19 mph over the speed limit, and for not producing her driver’s license and insurance card. While the presentation of those documents on April 18 cleared that part of the citation,  the speeding ticket remained open on her record until 2 online requested and subsequently granted extensions later on July 1, 2008. Why do we care?

Co ink y Dink or Other

There are only 3 plausible scenarios where  a material witness in a homicide case whose statement has been withheld, and  a woman with the name at the center of the linchpin of Casey Anthony’s defense get traffic citations on the same day. Throw in the tidbit that Casey met Tony Lazzarro for the first time at a party that same evening, and you have what appears to be in retrospect, the beginning of the omen for Caylee.  To be able to best portray the relevance of the above ZG incident as compared to known relevant dates in this case, I offer the following three theories with accompanying timeline.

Theory 1: Casey is using Zenaida as an alias
