Monroe, MI- Last evening a 3rd individual was taken into custody by the MPD after an extensive search at the 1520 Oak St. home of James P Easter.
Easter, 64, is said to frequent the Charlotte Arms Apartments; the last place 5 year old Nevaeh Buchanan was seen, where she resided with her mother Jennifer and her Grandmother.
Police removed numerous bags of evidence from the scene, which included remnants from a burn pit. Neighbors have desribed him as “very odd” , and some have stated they have seen him sit in the “kiddie pool” section at the neighborhood pool, and therefore would not let their children near him.
Sheriff Crutchfield, Chief of Monroe PD, indicated in a very brief press conference this morning that Easter began burning things in his backyard within 5 minutes after returning from their interview with him. He is being held for undisclosed reasons.
Monroe Police are asking for the publics help in locating two youg boys, named Dillon and Ryan, approximate ages 7 and 10, who were playing at the playground they day Nevaeh went missing. They would like to speak to them regarding anything they may have seen.
There are 6 registered sex offenders with the last name Easter on the Michigan Sex Offender Registry, James P is not one of them.
Orlando, FL– 27 year old Tracy E. Ocasio has been missing since leaving the Taproom Bar in Orlando at approximately 1:30am Wednesday. (UPDATE: OCASIO WAS SPOTTED ON SURVEILLANCE AND THE MAN WITH HER HAS BEEN QUESTIONED)
Tracy, who resides on New Victor Rd, Ocoee, left the bar at “last call” and her car was found abandoned on Frankin Street in Ocoee. The homeowners on the property where the vehicle was found called Police saying there was a car parked there that did not belong to them.
“She’s missing. Nobody has seen her or heard from her,” said Ocasio.
“She goes there every Magic game, and she cheers for the Magic, and afterward, she texts everybody she knows and says, ‘Go Magic.’ Apparently, that didn’t happen after this game.”
“I honestly don’t think she would be going on her own. She was so involved in cheering for the Magic. She would definitely want to see the game tonight (Thursday).”
Orlando police will not comment if they consider Ocasio’s disappearance suspicious or if she is in danger. But they ask anyone who has seen her to call police at 321-235-5300.
Orlando, FL– Appearing in court today, in advance of an approved pro hac vice motion, Casey Anthony’s lead defense counsel Jose Baez introduced the latest addition to the Baez Bevy of Barristers: Andrea Lyon. Baez took the opportunity to introduce Ms. Lyon in the form of a impromptu commercial, as pointed out by Prosecuting attorney Jeff Ashton.
Lyon is an associate Dean for Clinical programs and Professor at DePaul University School of Law. From her profile, Ms. Lyon claims to have defended over 30 potential capital cases at the trial level, and of those 30, 19 through the penalty phase, winning all 19.
(Editors Note: If a case is in the penalty phase, wouldn’t the term “winning” be an oxymoron? Perhaps a more succinct explanation means “19 of her convicted clients will not fry.” Does that mean she tossed the other 11 losers right after conviction because she knew she had no prayer of saving their hides?)
Baez delivered a 16 page amendment last night following court filing hours and expected the media, who has not as of yet been served, to appear and argue their request for the video of Casey Anthony in the prison infirmary following the news that remains of a small child had been found a few blocks from the Anthony home. Judge Strickland ruled they would have 7 days to intervene and he will hear their arguments to Baez amended motion late next week if requested. Counsel for the county objected several times as to specific incidents contained therein, and deposition transcripts they have not yet received.
Next up, attorneys for Roy Kronk, Jesse Grund and Amy Huzienga argued against the outstanding duces tecum motions surrounding their clients phone and text communication records as an invasion of privacy.
Collectively, a strong case presenting the lack of a good faith basis and materiality for the motion in the first place was argued by all.
Baez responded by alleging Jesse Grund, “for all intents and purposes,” was a suspect in this case who took a polygraph; the good faith basis has been established by the state in available discovery. He went on to say the OCSO should have requested this information from Roy Kronk; at which time Judge Strickland interrupted and informed him he was “straying” and that he did not wish to hear what “they” may have done wrong, but only what the defense good faith basis entails.
Enter Stage Left; Macaluso. I admit it, this is what I was waiting for. As a professional, I feel compelled to acknowledge I was not disappointed. I am on record from the announcement of his potential involvement on the defense team I felt he was the strongest chance Casey Anthony has at an actual defense strategy. Still do. His current embroilment in millions of dollars in civil litigation and looming California Bar charges notwithstanding. He is engaging, charismatic, said “um” the least and bar none had the coolest watch.
(editors note: I couldn’t get a tight enough shot but I’m pretty sure it was the un-affordable to most, Big Bang model Hubolt. Sweet.)
Monroe, MI– In a press conference this morning, the Chief of Monroe Police Department Tilton Crutchfield indicated there is more than one person of interest in the disappearance of 5 year old Nevaeh Buchanan.
While Crutchfield would not comment on specifics, he also declined to answer whether Nevaeh’s mother, Jennifer Buchanan, was considered a POI at this time. Late this afternoon, Michigan Department of Corrections spokespersonRuss Marlan, confirmed a friend of Jennifer Buchanan, Roy Smith, 48, ALSO a convicted sex offender, is in jail. He has been there since Monday while Parole agents decide if he has violated his parole.
Roy Smith is actually one of 2 sex offenders by the same name, associated with Kennedy. The other, is one of 6 other sex offenders living at Motel 7 alongside him. It is not known if they are related.
Chief Crutchfield also deferred a reporter question as to whether or not Law Enforcement was aware that on at least 3 separate occasions over the last several months, George Kennedy’s parole officer recommended that his parole be REVOKED. On all 3 requests, the parole officer managing Kennedy’s case was overruled by his Management.
Special Agent FBI Detroit, Edward Hanko, spoke to reporters briefly about the importance of the public keeping an open mind and to continue looking.
When asked if he was 100% sure Kennedy was “the guy” he said he learned many years ago not to make that statement until he was requesting “that piece” of paper necessary to make an arrest.
UPDATE I– Nevaeh playmates say she was stabbed by “Daddy George” in the woods.
Reported live on HLN Jane Valez Mitchell show, a search warrant was executed today at the Motel 6, where convicted sex offender George Kennedy, boyfriend of Nevaeh’s mom was living.
Among those items found were bloody shorts, a bloody towel, and a blood stain above the sink. Previously found in Kennedy’s fishing tackle box in his van, was a silver tool, found to contain human blood.
It is not known at this time if the blood matches the type of missing 5 year old Nevaeh Buchanan.
