COLEMAN IN CUSTODY TONIGHT
Columbia, Ill– As announced exclusively this afternoon on blinkoncrime.com, sources inside the Major Case Squad confirmed that Chris Coleman, husband and father of murder victims Sheri, Garrett and Gavin Coleman, has been arrested and charged with the murders of his family.
Coleman was arrested at his parents home in Chester, Illinois without incident. At press time, Coleman was being processed and prepped for his 3 hots and a cot.

I think it’s interesting that this guy was involved with Joyce Meyer and her self-help “ministry”.
He got married very young, was heavily involved in his “church”, had his wife doing the home schooling thing (which was no doubt “Christian” in nature)etc. I bet he even went to one of those soul-stripping mega-churches…and tithed.
I’ve known many people like this guy. You’ll often find them making silly comments like, “I don’t listen to worldly music” and “I don’t read the astrology column in USA Today. I’m a Christian.”
It’s a cult. What kind of people get involved in cults? Weak people.

There’s no reason why he couldn’t get a divorce….but he would have had NO money. I feel so sorry for the Mom and 2 boys, PLUS their family.

I have two young son’s and I don’t know if I could allow them to be around me, if something like this was to happen, I wouldn’t even feel safe to sleep in my own home if I thought that one of my son’s could have done the killing’s. Did Chris Coleman ever read his Bible where the Lord says that if one harms one of the little ones, a milestone should be put around his neck and cast into the sea (paraphased). Before he commented these terrible acts against his family, did he believe he would get away with it and not be punished? How unbeliebable evil where his deeds. May Sheri, Garrett and Gavin rest in the eternal arms of Jesus in heaven.

Me - yes, Illinois DOES have a death penalty, and CC could still be sentenced to death. However, there has been a moratorium on it since 2000 - and Gov. Quinn announced in February he does not plan to lift the moratorium in the near future.
So until the Illinois judicial system is overhauled and/or the Governor feels it is acceptable to carry out death sentences, death row inmates will get their meals and pillows at night.
I agree having more death row inmates exonerated than have been executed (one coming within TWO DAYS of execution) is an overwhelmingly ugly statistic.
But he could always do us all a favor and kill himself. Worthless POS.

Uh, you mean if CHRIS COLEMAN listened to the Bible his family would still be alive. It wasn’t “left wingers” that strangled Sheri, Garrett and Gavin in their own beds. This ‘man’ had a minister for a father, worked in the ‘Christian’ business, …and IS Satan.
When Joyce Meyers actually reads the Bible and gives all she has to the poor, then I might reconsider. Until then, she does however need to speak out about the murder of three innocent people of her congregation by someone she had hired. Found today (via comments) …. Chris Coleman did not inform the fundamentalist church he was employed at …that he had received “threats” - which HE claimed to police - were stemmed FROM his security duties at the church.
Also . . this preacher’s son (yeah, that was his preacher father and mother - who themselves couldn’t be bothered to respect the situation by dressing properly - at the photo-op viewing of the array of coffins) …married his PREGNANT wife via shotgun wedding forced upon him by the preacher and wife who were afraid their son getting a girl knocked up would damage their “preachy” typical pyramid scheme of a church.
Seems this ex-Marine preacher’s kid is typical of all the preacher’s kids our mothers and society warn us about.

This whole story sickens and saddens me to no end. The only solace now is that he is behind bars where he belongs and that he didn’t try to run before the arrest warrant was issued. I am so horrified by this case, I can barely comprehend it. Sadly, men murder their wives and girlfriends every day, but that a father could murder the very children he has reared for years, that he KNOWS, has obviously cared for, laughed with, and provided for, is so beyond my ability to understand - it’s just difficult to believe he’s the same person that could have helped raise them. How do people turn on a dime like this? Or do they? Will we find that this guy exhibited all sorts of red flags? God, I hope so. I always think that if we could just get a grip in this country on undiagnosed mental illness, we’d eliminate at least some of the suffering. Heavy, heavy sigh…ugh.

As a preacher’s kid myself all grown up, I agree that many are horribly traumatized emotionally by what we see in the church. My father (thank God) was a good man and left the ministry about the time I was 15. I asked him as an adult what made him decide this and he gave several reasons, one being to “save his family”.
What we PKs see is hypocrisy at its finest in many church members and other pastors in the community. Makes us resent them and that IS a sin which I’ve struggled with my entire life…learning how NOT to resent what I see as twisted and evil.
As for those who believe Joyce is a good example of a Christian leader…let them follow her to where ever she leads them. I really don’t care. I’m finding my own way as my father taught me to do through reading my Bible and prayer/meditation. Actually, have the New Test. on tape and listen in my vehicle every morning on the way to and from work….my commute is an hour and in the 7 yrs I’ve worked here have probably listened through it over 50 times. Back to the case, Blink I’ve been thinking, (assuming he is guilty) how could anyone be this callous? Then it occured to me, maybe he set out to kill just his wife (bad enough already) and unfortunately, one or both of his sons witnessed the act and he decided to finish off everyone! Just my thoughts.
I believe, or choose to believe as it were, that Chris was confronted by Sheri and he killed her in a rage of his impending “outing”. I think its possible one of the children may have woke up during the struggle.

I am a staunch supporter of LE, however, unless there is no information to change my mind in this incident, I will never get past that. Ever. His phone activity that morning will speak volumes….as well as the video tapes of activity at the home. The PD had set up video cams to observe activity based on the “threats” Coleman claimed he was receiving.
The officer who responded to Huckaby being pointed to for the first child she “abducted” and brought home drugged . . . put the onus on the mother of the child and he didn’t bother to “investigate” Huckaby who he did speak to and confront when she rushed the child back . . .Miss Thing’s “Sunday School teacher” at her preacher grand-dad’s front door …instigated his “what ever” mindset (he’s confessed he’s wrecked over having ignored the red flag) all he had to do was jump in his car and start clicking on the keyboard on his dash and pull her name up.
She was on probation, wanted for arson in S. Calif and had a record …but her church lady blatherings set her free to kill.

Thank you Bart and Martha! I’m a Christian and very proud to call Jesus Christ my savior. People who use this to lash out against Christians and Christian business people are not very educated on Christianity and what it means to be born again. My prayers are with Sheri, Gavin, and Garrett’s family and all the lost who don’t understand that they are in a better place as we mourn.

It sends me back to seeing Melissa Huckaby in the back of the police car. Such satisfaction, I really thought he would run or commit suicide. I know he was at Mom & Dad’s house….unreal! Swimmom, TY….I swear, I wouldn’t condone such evil in my home. My husband may moan and groan, over me reading such negitive, depressing news, but I have learned alot of these stories. When I went to a B-Day party last Saturday, I couldn’t believe one women had 2 little boys that ran wild all over this park, she would have had NO clue if someone took one or both of her kids. These stories also help me to raise and guide my children in ways to handle certain situations.
I can usually handle these kind of situations with adults, but add children into it, and I’m pissed off and sad! What ever happened to, treat other’s as you would want to be treated!

Seriously, how old are you people? Quit attacking Joyce Meyers, televangelists, and Chris Coleman’s parents. There no more responsible for his mistakes than you are for your child’s, your spouse’s, or your parents’. Let’s get back on track and discuss Chris Coleman. He’s the suspect under arrest for murdering his beautiful wife and two innocent sons. Why don’t we put our energy to good use and find out what kind of threatening mail the family got, how was their mailbox tampered with, what were the messages spray-painted on the wall, and who saw Chris at the gym that morning. Who worked the check-in desk, what time did Chris come, did he leave and return, and what time did he leave? Was anyone else working out at the same time? How about the trash cans at the gym? Have they been checked for evidence?

Where was Chris’ alleged mistress during this time frame? How about in the days preceeding the murder and the weeks after the murder? What do her phone records/computer logs show? Any contact with Chris Coleman? Excessive contact with Chris Coleman? Any surveillance videos of Chris (from the last FL trip)showing him and a mistress at any Joyce Meyers Ministries properties? Did Chris make any unauthorized trips to ministry property, being Security?

He got married very young, was heavily involved in his “church”, had his wife doing the home schooling thing (which was no doubt “Christian” in nature)etc. I bet he even went to one of those soul-stripping mega-churches…and tithed.

-We go to church, tithe, and home school…along with about 350 other families within a 30 mile radius. Funny, not a single one of us has ever killed our spouses or our children! Oh, puhleez! As for the “weak” comment, you obviously have never home schooled anyone. After sifting through the 33,000+ curriculums available, countless books on individual learning styles,requirements for State regulations and testing (each one differs), planning and documenting each year’s lesson plans and work, choosing or making your own enrichment exercise and experiments, planning/taking/documenting field trips, not to mention the children’s extra-curricular activities- all this and we haven’t even touched the actual teaching part.

I hate to burst your preconceived notion, but home schoolers aren’t all Christians. If you did your research, you’d find home schoolers can be atheists, agnostics, pagans, Wiccans, unschoolers, Montessori types, Charlotte Mason types, off-shoot cultists (Branch Davidians, FDLS, etc.), as well as Christians.
Many of the home schooled children I know belong to doctors, lawyers, contractors, pharmacists, nurses, firefighters, hospital administrators, accountants, parole officers, and lots of certified teachers (including the ones in my family). They’re also African-American, Hispanic, Chinese, Asian, Caucasian, and combined heritage.

When I was younger and my son not yet in school, our neighbors had a son who was the devil no kidding! He was same age as my daughter when we moved to this former residence and in 2nd grade. My daughter feared this kid who would 1) go into the back yard and beat the trees with a BAT for literally an hour sometimes. 2) SEARCHED relentlessly for bird nests to KILL the babies (I spoke to his dad and said I didn’t want him in my trees to which the dad exclaimed “he’s just being a boy.” 3) his mother told me that although in 2nd grade, he still wet the bed almost nightly and she thought it was out of spite! NO kidding! That’s not even the half of it.
I remember telling my husband that boy WILL kill someone some day. Guess what? He did @ 17 yrs of age. I was SOOOOO not surprised. What he did was get drunk and take his dad’s truck to bring his GF for a ride. Apparently (his own words) they got into a serious fight and he rammed the vehicle into a bank which killed the girl instantly. His sentence was pitiful…2 yrs as he’s JUST turned 17 and was released @ 18. All he got for taking a life.

If anyone were to tell me I was going to hell because I didn’t attend church, I’d laugh in their face and ask when God decided to make them a judge? The Bible teaches us to be wary as serpents and gentle as doves. We can discuss what we believe to be obvious because the Bible also teaches to be “angry and sin not”. So…where are we sinning by noticing JM flaunts her wealth and talking about it amoungst ourselves?
I listen to a man online from the west coast who some do feel is not Christian because he is Jewish and slams alot of what people view as “modern Christianity” today that does fly in the faces of folks like JM, Copeland, Benny Hinn, etc. Since his ministry has helped me LOADS in seeing the error of my own ways that I will work to correct throughout my lifetime, I simply ignore such talk. Why don’t you do the same if you like JM so much?
Is this a Godly and humble lifestyle I wonder? Keep in mind anything the “ministry” purchases is from tithe/donations. Also, remember that birds of a feather flock together and those who crave power are drawn to those who exibit the same desire. I feel that is relevant since CC was drawn to this ministry where it was EASY to hide his adultry and live as he pleased without an eye on him or question. I cannot believe NO one knew of this affair at one of the ministry’s homes. someone saw/knew something. Just that HE got caught!
As for whether his poor wife knew what CC was really like (not sucha nice guy), I think so. She like many women probably sucked up alot of emotional abuse and lack of true love from him for the sake of her children which is common.

Locals have said: the time of death was sometime “…BEFORE 3am to no later the 5am.” This puts Coleman in house at time of murders.

Hi, I have been finding this site very fascinating. I wanted to comment on the cruelty to animals, bed wetting, and starting fires… I had a foster son for a couple years who was dxed with Attachment Disorder, and these are a few of the signs of it, it’s very true. This was an experience I am still digesting and suffice it to say, I now feel I have an understanding of how and why people can do these things. I took part in a support group for parents of kids with AD (mostly adoptive & foster parents) and we were all dealing with the same things. It’s hard to explain the whole experience and what these kids are like, you just can’t imagine it unless you’ve lived with it. But I really feel that if we, as a society, could understand how this happens to kids and address it, we could go a long ways to making the world a safer place. Giving Evil a face is the hardest self-lesson, imo. I learned this., or, finally accepted the fact about 10 years ago. I was attending some con ed training in Fla. The lecturer was a chief pediatric forensic psychologist.
I sat in that class for 10 hours per day over 3 days and heard/learned more debochery and profiling of kids/tweens I ever wanted to know. I knew the Proff had done an extensive amount of work with the students of Columbine.
I literally stalked the proff all over the hotel property because I wanted to pick his brain for obvious occupational issues.
Finally successful in tracking him down, I asked him from his perspective, could he help me through the background of the Columbine incident. His answer: I have been in this field for almost 3o years and have come to the conclusion that there are those that are born evil. I am not speaking specifically in the Columbine case, but absent chemical explanation, that is just how I see it.

Tisha just hasn’t bothered to learn how many of those preacher’s kids have ended up doing heinous deeds while hiding behind their family’s “reputation” linked to their churches. Tithing obviously has its benefits for the recipients.
Melissa Huckaby behind bars for confessing to Sandra Cantu’s murder, preacher’s kid from preacher Lawless - the grandfather she was living with - who’s owm church in Washington State was taken down via pedophilia ring case wherein over 20 church members were convicted. The preacher and wife the only accused not convicted but they were the only ones with the cash money to pay for a high powered attorney.
Two other of the Huckaby brood - jail birds. One for rape of 14-year old girl in the Sacramento area - within days of the Cantu murder and the other for non-stop chronic drug charges and DUI’s.
Our neighbors, pastor of Church of Christ - both sons behind bars for rape after having been sexually abused themselves by a church elder. The pastor’s youngest son, just knocked up a teen girl church member recently told her: if god didn’t want us to have sex, he wouldn’t give me an erection.” He convinced the little girl to join his “godly” self in the back of the church bus.
Only years ago my brother’s neighbor’s 12-daughter was murdered by yet another preacher’s son in the ‘burbs who convinced the little girl walking to 7-11 for an ice cream cone she could have ice cream in the church where he raped and killed her.
She was found dumped in a garbage bag with church letterhead/garbage on the main road only blocks from her home.
Re: Attachment Disorder… it happens so early in infancy that it seems like the person might have been born that way. Not saying that is the only reason people commit murder and do wrong, by any means. But this is a big part of where we get the people who have no empathy, no conscience and no remorse.
Anyone know anything about Coleman’s immediate family, other than Dad being a minister. Does he have siblings? What is their story? I’m sure I must’ve just missed this in all the reporting, but I am curious as to his psychological profile (other than anal-psychotic). Boy, the families on both sides must just be heartsick.
I was born in 1960 and have been fascinated by true crime since my Mom followed the Jeffrey Macdonald (Green Beret) Murder of his pregnant wife and two lil girls early 70’s. It does seem that we’re hearing more and more about these type killings, but think too, that the population is so much larger and communication is instant now.
My personal belief is that sociopaths - those with no conscience - evolved for specific reasons of survival. Humans needed a trait, perhaps, that allowed certain ones to be able to make tough decisions w/o dwelling on the sentimental (for lack of a better word.) I read a study that most Presidents/CEO’s/Surgeons have sociopathic tendencies - enabling them to make tough life/death decisions w/o being destroyed by the “collateral damage.” I sometimes try to pick out the sociopaths in my daily life - usually very successful and attractive people that wear “the mask” of sanity/concience quite well.
Sorry for the long post, but as you can tell, I find this entire phenomenom fascinating.
Getting back to family killer MacDonald - this Coleman is very similar - perhaps overcompensating with the whole Marine/Security thing. After much research, I found myself totally agreeing with Fatal Vision MacGinnis’ theory that MacDonald, in a sleep deprived/amphetamine rage, savagely beat Colette and Kimberley to death and then coldly and calculatedly stabbed Baby Kristen to death. In this case, I suspect “roid rage”/steroid abuse fueled rage during an argument with wife/coat hanger . . . followed by the strangling of the two boys/collateral damage.
Some of the notes have strayed from the crime and to religion. As a Christian, I see many of the objections against Christians as the same arguments that Jesus had with the religious leaders of his time. Religious leaders, (e.g. the Pharisees) were presenting themselves as the best people around therefore deserving, through their good works, in Gods eyes.
If the world is looking for Christians to be ‘good’ before they accept Christ, it ain’t gonna happen. When a Christian sins, whether it be murder, or love of money, or adultery, or theft, I rejoice because I know that it is not our acts that make us deserving of God’s love, but His grace and forgiveness.
Jesus made it clear in many places, that as humans, we are not perfect. In Matthew 5:21-22 Jesus said: “You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘Do not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.’ But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgment.” This means that if we are angry with someone, we are on the same level as a murderer, in God’s eyes!
And that’s why it is called the “Good News”. If you confess your sins and accept Jesus in faith, you will be forgiven. The price for the judgment was paid when Jesus died on the cross.
All the answers are in the bible…why all this stuff is happening in the world…why people are killing their families, strangers,co-workers, ect…Putting aside the fact that he worked for a ministry he is human, prone to sin, as we all are. Some of us are better equipped to make the right choices in life than others are. Worldly justice will be enforced, but it is GOD’S justice that counts.

I am not disrespecting you, but of course I was too literal. That was the point. I dont like people being treated like “Sheeple for the Steeple”. Read this, do everything it says, and therefore… Its not practical to deliver a message that way for people that have been taught not to just “follow” anymore for their own spiritual development and frankly, safety. For me, a very spiritual person, the Bible is a playbook. I was fortunate to have been raised in an enviornment that supported its teachings, but we were not quoting scripture in the home. It is the foundation for the explanation of some things taught by our parents and grandparents, but in the end, it is the lesson of why some things are good, some things are evil, and examples of why that is so. The very fact that there is an old testament vs. a new testaments says to me someone was aware of the need for evolution of ideals at some point.
I guess I dont like my “religion” spoon fed to me in the way of a permanent bound novel, and if I dont swallow it in one gulp I need to purchase a flame retardant suit for later. That and the fact that if others view their spirituality the same way, that they are somehow wrong for it. Not true.

You get an Amen from this preacher’s kid! My father said the Bible was a roadmap to God…not the road. Christ Himself said much learning wasn’t the answer, but that the Word needed to be written in our hearts. I’ve come to learn that we must come to a point that sinning/doing wrong for our own benefit ON PURPOSE is the sin…not spilling the milk, losing our car keys ;>), providing an incorrect answer on a math test…no…that is not sinning. Lying to your boss you are sick when you want off to fish, THAT is a lie/sin. Saying it’s “ok to sin” because we confess it to a priest, NO, that is mocking God. To continue to drink or smoke and ask forgiveness daily although you are unable to quit…NO…not how it’s supposed to be. I had a drinking problem myself and felt very uncomfortable asking for forgiveness when I realized it was something “deep” inside me disallowing me to quit. As Paul said, “what I want to do I cannot, and what I do not want to do I do.” He was tormented as I was. I finally learned I was simply resenting past wrongs which was also sin! After truly realizing the root of my problem, desire went away on it’s own. As the REAL Savior reveals Himself to us, we can either accept Him and SEE OUR OWN FAULT/PART in our bad situation, or we can be angry to see it. JMO, but as for the Bible, it is a roadmap and has to be the Word of God in it’s entirety, or a total waste of time. Cannot be both. I believe it’s what it claims to be.
Up until this point, I have been a lurker. I prefer to remain one. But before I abscond, may I suggest that debates over the putative legitimacy/illegitimacy of the JMM, the applicability of the Bible, homeschooling, etc. be reserved for other venues? These are important matters, no doubt. But as far as this site is concerned, they strike me as being largely tangential.
I would prefer to talk/read about the criminal cases on which blink is committed to reporting.

The Bible is open to your own personal interpretation. Not all Christians blindly follow someone who talks alot. I go to church every weekend. I give $5-$10. But any Christian knows that you don’t have to go to church, you don’t have to read the Bible, you don’t have to do anything except accept Christ as your savior and try to be good to your fellow man. Just because someone goes to church, or says they are Christian, doesn’t mean they really are. The fact that so many people use religion as a way to verify they are good to other people has watered it down. Sit in a courtroom some day and tell me how man people stand in front of the judge and claim to be religious. They are lying. They are trying to soften their image. You know it, I know it.
I do not have to confess my faith to anyone but God himself.
I read the Bible. I don’t read it to try to find my car keys (not well though out). I read it to give ME direction, comfort, and whenever I can find it, understanding.
You said it yourself B, It is the foundation for what is good vs what is evil. It helps you recognize when evil is tempting you and how to defeat it. It’s much cheaper alternative to expensive therapy that does the same thing. (Disclaimer, some people can’t be helped no matter what, you have to want to help yourself.)

By the way I attend the church where Chris attended and it is an awesome, loving church, the pastor and the people have a heart to serve the people of St Louis. We are hurting!!!! So stop casting judgement to those that are hurting at the loss of ones of its members. When you cut off a finger, the body is never the same and that is what has taken place at Destiny Church with the loss of Sheri and the boys.
From the evidence that I have read and understand theres is not much doubt of his being guilty. His glove with paint on it on the side of the road. Thats enough for me to be pretty positive of his being guilty. Lets let the justice system do what its suppose to do and then that will be that. Even if he did get off, he would forever be guilty in the minds of the people. Lets hope that the prosecutor has a rock solid case and that there is no doubts created. Then justice will be served.

momofmany, you judge my comment when you do not understand. When I was a communications officer, we often experienced a problem with hired security guards who were NOT police officers. The worst were those who worked for Wackenhut. We received MANY complaints of man handling and false arrest by them doing a citizen’s arrest, and even following people in their cars because the security guard believed they’d stolen something. Often times it was NOT the case and the poor citizen was traumatized by such.
It is clear you are not informed on this subject. You have no clue how many security guards get a rush of some wierd “power” and tell alot of people they are officers for that matter. Happens aaaallllll the time. So, I respectfully disagree with you 100% since I have worked in an environment that clearly proves my point to be correct. Not for all security, but many based on the complaints I’d get at the PD>
Also, I have to wonder why CC chose security work rather than becoming a police officer since he’s a former MP. My guess? He couldn’t make the cut in the outside-world which consists of a very, grueling interview process and alot of your personal times away from family…or girlfriends???

Hey Blink, you may have to straighten me out on this but I thought he was the head of security for JMM. This would not be a minimum wage position. It would be way more financially lucrative than being actual LE, especially if he was taken into the inner circle and given the expensive gifts JM is famous for. I had an extremely busy work week so I logged on this morning and
read each and every one of the comments. Wow, a bit overwhelming.
Bad Christian-Good Christian?
I was raised by two very hard working parents, farmers with 8 children in Central Washington. As most people we had an affiliation
with organized religion. But my mother who was a full blood Native
American, believed in a power greater then ours, “the creator” so to speak. She liked going to church, the social aspect, the support system, but I don’t think that she really took the teachings as black and white as many of the others did.
I am truly grateful for my religious upbringing and my mothers insight to see gray. As an adult I have made the choice not to take part in any one religion. But I would never disrespect any persons right to their religious beliefs.
I personally can not put blame on the JMM’s organization or CC parents
for his horrendous acts.
The clear and direct correlation between anti-depressants and inter-family murder is scary. Google it. There are lists all over the place that outline crimes and what prescription mood altering drug the person committing the crime was on.

I agree with you. From elementary school forward they should teach personal responsibility and repercussions. This is only because parents no longer seem to be willing to do it. Red, I agree with you that parents for the most part have abandoned moral teaching by example. Empty words do nothing as the evidence proves. Sadly the school system isn’t going to do much good trying to teach morals since our gov’t driven/funded education system cannot teach anything truly spiritually moral because they’d relate it to not separating church and state. Not only that, but many teachers don’t really care about the children and they all know who they are. What about morals can that type of educator truly teach? It seems this couple got married at really young ages $ Chris Coleman decided he wanted out for some reason-maybe for another woman or maybe to just be free. He was making good money & being the selfish person that he obviously is, didn’t want to share with his family. He just wanted to start over-with his money, lifestyle, job prestige, etc, intact. It has been my observation that most men don’t leave their wives unless they have another woman on the side, even if they have no intention of staying with her. She’s just a security blanket. For example, I never believed that Scott Peterson killed Laci because of Amber Frey, but more for what Amber symbolized. Freedom. Now, this man may actually be in love with his mistress, but what kind of love would that be? Where their new life together started off with the murder of his children & wife-her supposed friend? I’m leaning towards the girlfriend & even her ex-husband being involved & maybe a hefty insurance policy. His girlfriend & associates seem really seedy & the odds that they weren’t involved, seem slim.

A lawyer for the family of murder victim Sheri Coleman described today messages spray-painted on the walls of the home where she and her two young sons were found strangled.
Attorney Jack Carey filed a wrongful death lawsuit today seeking documents concerning life insurance obtained by Sheri Coleman’s husband, Chris Coleman, who is accused of the murders. Her family also won a temporary order allowing them access to the house at 2854 Robert Drive in Columbia.
Carey, Sheri Coleman’s brother Mario Weiss and family spokesman Enrico Mirabelli entered the home with the help of a locksmith at 12:55 p.m. Carey walked out of the house a short time later, overcome with emotion.

He described messages he’d seen spray-painted in red on walls. Laced with obscenities, they appear to have been directed at Sheri Coleman and include “punished” in the downstairs dining room, “whore paid” or “u have paid” in an upstairs room and “I saw you leave, (expletive) you, I am always watching” in the kitchen.
Carey said he told Weiss and Mirabelli, “I’ve had enough; I need to leave.”
The lawsuit filed by Carey in Monroe County Circuit Court seeks information on trips taken by Chris Coleman and others for Joyce Meyer Ministries. It seeks airline schedules on commercial flights and private airplane manifests for travel in connection to Chris Coleman’s former job as a security guard for Meyer’s evangelical group.
Carey will seek a permanent order June 5 that halts Chris Coleman or his family from dissolving the marital assets. The lawsuit, which seeks damages in excess of $50,000, also seeks any “memorandums or notes” and a complete work schedule connected to Coleman’s job with the Joyce Meyer Ministries.
The two-count lawsuit alleges “intentional acts,” a reference to the May 5 strangulation deaths of Sheri Coleman, and their two sons, Garret, 11, and Gavin, 9.
A second count accuses Coleman of “negligence” in connection to the murders.
It was filed on behalf of Angela DeCicco, Sheri Coleman’s mother and her brother.
The lawsuit also seeks documents from Coleman’s father, the Rev. Ron Coleman of Chester, who heads Grace Church Ministries in Chester, including Rev. Coleman’s pay records and life insurance records.
Neither Ron Coleman nor Joyce Meyer Ministries are named as defendants. The are referred to as, “respondents in discovery.”
Christopher Coleman resigned from his security job at the ministries after being questioned by a Joyce Meyer official about an alleged violation of the organizations moral conduct policy.
Coleman is being held without bail. A preliminary hearing in his case is set for June 10.

Lawyers say Sheri Coleman would not have removed her name from deed
COLUMBIA — Lawyers for Sheri Coleman’s family allege in legal papers filed Tuesday in Monroe County court that she did not voluntarily remove her name from the deed of the house where she was found strangled with her two sons.
An emergency petition for injunctive relief asks that her husband, Christopher Coleman, 32, be barred from selling or otherwise disposing of the house at 2854 Robert Dr. in Columbia. Coleman has been charged with first-degree murder in the May 5 deaths of Sheri, 31, and their two sons, Garett, 11, and Gavin, 9.
The injunction was signed Tuesday by St. Clair County Circuit Judge Michael O’Malley and is in effect for 10 days. A hearing is set for June 5 on a extended protective order.
Six months ago, Sheri Coleman signed a quit claim deed on her house, surrendering her ownership share to her husband.
“Is there a rational basis for her to take her name off a house held in joint tenancy with right of survivorship?” asked Belleville attorney Jack Carey, who filed a wrongful death suit on behalf of the family. “I can’t think of a rational basis why she would voluntarily give up her claim to the marital home.”
Monroe County property records showed the Colemans’ original mortgage filed on March 2, 2005 for $202,269 with Sheri Coleman’s name listed on both the deed and the mortgage.
But on Oct. 6, Shari Coleman signed a quit claim deed turning over complete ownership to Christopher Coleman for $10. Records filed with the county show that on the same day, she signed a new mortgage for the same home for $230,850.
Enrico Mirabelli, Carey’s co-counsel and Sheri’s cousin, said the new mortgage reflected between $28,000 and $30,000 in cash equity that would have been realized as a result of the transaction.
“At this point, we have no idea what happened to that money, but we intend to investigate,” said Mirabelli, a prominent Chicago divorce lawyer.
Mortgage experts say sometimes spouses agree to sign off of a deed, but remain on the mortgage after pressure from a bank, if they have bad or weak credit. Additionally, if Chris Coleman died without a will, under Illinois law, his wife would have had a claim to the house, despite having signed off the deed.
On May 11, News-Democrat reporters showed two documents — Sheri Coleman’s voter registration card signed July 25 and the Oct. 6 quit-claim deed — to handwriting expert Betty Butts, of Kirkwood, Mo.
Butts concluded the signatures were made by the same person.
Sheri Coleman and her children died without a will, leaving control of the house and other assets to Chris Coleman. The wrongful death lawsuit challenges his right to inherit any assets from the marriage.
“Sheri’s mother told me that she couldn’t imagine that her daughter would voluntarily take her name off the deed,” Mirabelli said. “So, we are going to do due diligence as lawyers to find out.”

Judge unseals search warrants in Coleman case: Letters reveal warnings against family

WATERLOO — Major Case Squad detectives investigating the ligature strangulation of Columbia mother Sheri Coleman and her sons Garett and Gavin found an orange piece of twine with a noose tied on one end at the western end of the Jefferson Barracks Bridge, according to court documents unsealed Wednesday.
The twine resembled cord used to tie four bales of hay that was found in the back of the Colemans’ home, according to an affidavit filed by Detective Karla Heine in a search warrant application.
The search warrants were released on a judge’s order in response to a Belleville News-Democrat request filed last week in Monroe County Circuit Court.
The bodies of Sheri Coleman, 31, and her sons, Garett, 11, and Gavin, 9, were found after husband and father Chris Coleman called Columbia Police from Gold’s Gym in South St. Louis County asking them to check their welfare.
He told police around 7 a.m. on March 5 that he became concerned when he could not reach them by telephone.
Chris Coleman, a 32-year-old former security guard for the Joyce Meyer Ministries, faces three counts of first-degree murder. He remains in the Monroe County Jail without bond.
For the first time since the investigation began, the contents of a threatening letter was revealed. Chris Coleman told police that someone mailed the letter to the family home at 2854 Robert Drive.
According to a report by Columbia Police Sgt. Jason Donjon, the report letter read, “(Expletive)! Deny your God publicly or else! No more opportunities. Time is running out for you and your family.”
The letter, dated Jan. 1, referred to someone traveling to Asia, but doesn’t refer to anyone by name. Sheri Coleman participated in missionary trips to southeast Asia, including Cambodia.
“Have a good time in India (expletive)!” the letter concluded.
The contents of a second letter to show up at the residence, dated April 27, also are listed in the search warrants records.
That letter stated, “I am giving you the last warning! You have not listened to me and you have not changed your ways. I have warned you to stop traveling and stop carrying on with this fake religious life of stealing people’s money.”
The letter referred to an unnamed woman.
“You think you are so special to do what you do protecting or think you are protecting her. She is a b*tch and not worth doing it. Stop today or else. I know your schedule. … This is my last warning. Your worst nightmare is about to happen!”
Also included in the search warrant information was a report from the Columbia Police Department describing a horrific scene in the house when officers arrived and found the bodies of Sheri and the two boys.
“After searching the first level of the house and finding no one, we went upstairs to the second story. … As I walked up the stairs, I looked to my left and saw a white female, lying on her stomach,” Detective Justin Barlow wrote. Barlow reported Sheri Coleman was naked and lying face down.
“I saw she did not have any clothes on,” Barlow’s report said. “I yelled: ‘Columbia Police’ and she did not move. I called for an ambulance.’”
Barlow described red spray paint “…all over the walls on the first story.”
The officer said he tried to determine whether Sheri Coleman was alive, and noticed that rigor mortis had set in, which usually occurs within two to three hours, according to experts.
“I attempted to slightly roll her over in order to see her eyes and check for breathing. I noticed when I lifted her shoulder, her head and neck moved also. It appeared rigor mortis had set in. I noticed the skin of her chest and head appeared purple,” Barlow reported.
A moment later, according to Barlow’s report, a fellow officer shouted, “There are a total of three victims.”
Barlow wrote in his report that he walked to the rear of an upstairs bedroom, “…and saw a younger boy lying on his bed. I checked for a pulse on the younger boy but found none. I also noticed his face appeared slightly purple.”
According to the search warrants made public Wednesday, police also took into evidence a greeting card addressed to Christopher Coleman’s post office box in Columbia from St. Petersburg, Fla., found in the glove box of Coleman’s 1998 green Ford Explorer. Police have said they conducted interviews with several people from the Tampa area.
Enrico Mirabelli, Sheri Coleman’s cousin and family spokesman, said Christopher Coleman was engaged in a romantic relationship with a woman who lived in St. Petersburg. The woman went to high school with Sheri Coleman, according to Mirabelli.
Police also seized an e-mail from the U.S. postmaster in Columbia regarding an account payment due on a post office box dated July 2, and a credit card receipt for $36 from the Columbia post office from the same glove box.

I just have a comment to make regarding the fact that this sicko apparently took his wife’s name off the deed last December. What was he thinking? This was red flag number one. That because he took her name off the deed, the house would no longer be considered marital assets in the event of a divorce? Obviously, he must have forged his wife’s signature in order to do that. That shouldn’t be hard to prove. This guy is not only evil, but stupid and greedy, cold, callous, calculating, unfeeling and the worst kind of coward there is.

Hand writing experts have already compared signatures from the quit claim deed and Sherri’s voter registration card, and have stated they appear to both have been signed by the same person.
The house would still be considered a marital asset, because it was obtained by both parties during the marriage, AND she was on the mortgage.
CC is a sociopath, as is 4% of US population. Recent poll finds 40 % in this country say torture is ok. Could this mindset contribute to an increase in sociopath “acting out?”
Can the drying time of the spray paint as well as the lengths of drips of paint be measured for time when sprayed?

This is how stupid this guy is. He killed his own flesh and blood to be with his stripper girlfriend, h.s. friend of his wife? I wonder what she’s thinking right now. He thought by taking his wife’s name off the deed (by forging her signature), that this would diminish her rights to her share of the house? Not. What a totally stupid idiotic jerk. He didn’t want a divorce, like so many of these jerks, because he didn’t want to give up any of his assets. Are people so stupid nowadays, that they think by merely deleting a spouse from a house deed by forging their signature, that this will miraculously get them off the hook. I wouldn’t doubt it if the house was mortgaged to the hilt anyway? I think this is one of those instances where money was the root of all evil, and in this case, Chris Coleman is evil to the bone.
