Caylee/Casey Anthony Case: Caylees Autopsy Revelations Part I

Orlando, FL– Under heavy objection last Friday afternoon, Judge Stan Strickland denied the motion on behalf of George and Cindy Anthony to seal Caylee Marie Anthonys autopsy until their daughter Caseys capital murder trial in their granddaughters death. Late Friday afternoon, the Findings of Dr. Jan Garavaglia, Chief Medical Examiner of Orange County were released. In Part I, we explore a few of the notable findings, In Development for Part II, Blinkoncrime will be is creating an interactive 3D Model, incorporating the evidence recovery field, bone disbursement pattern, and anatomical example of the duct tape placement.

The Laundry Bag

WhitneyLaundryBagAlthough the report contains a significant amount of anthropologic and forensic data, it does not contain photos or X-Rays, pursuant to the Earnhardt exclusion under Florida Law. Blinkoncrime.com will attempt to offer some observations and in some cases, correct some erroneous information that is being reported in the msm. For starters, the laundry bag picture being circulated, it is incorrect, the image to the left is the correct bag, note the dimensions are exact. The top of this bag does not cinch.

The Duct Tape

I have seen rampant speculation on the duct tape beginning around 15 minutes following the release of the report.  DuctThere are many who believe that Casey Anthony killed her child by wrapping her nose and mouth with duct tape. Allow me to point out the report actually reflects the antithesis of this theory. First, there IS NO TAPE ON THE POSTERIOR of her skull. The only posterior placement of the tape mentioned is still located on the mandible, or face. The tape, which was actually small strips of grey cloth-based, delaminating tape is applied on top of itself, not really feasible with a live toddler. Given the findings that Caylee’s mandible stayed in almost true anatomical position, although slightly posterior and that the hair that was attached to the tape extended from the back of her head and over her head and face, it is likely Caylee was laying on her back when the tape was applied.  Henkel makes 2 kinds of duct tape, one is more Industrial grade of adhesive “hot set” over cloth designed for waterproof and outdoor projects. It has not yet been disclosed which formulation was used.

The O Sign

A contributing poster at blinkoncrime gave me something to think about that had not occurred to me. I am on record stating I do believe that Casey Anthony murdered her daughter, and that she will end up pointing the finger at one or both of her parents as a defense strategy.

However, the duct tape never really fit for me. I have always believed it to be a post mortem tactic to stage a kidnapping. I do believe I may have been wrong. Very well known to medical and critical care professionals, there is something called an O effect; occurring at very near death, or shortly following death and before rigormortis sets in.

Some medical people refer to it when the person is very near death or has just died–the jaw drops open. Nothing left to hold the mandible shut. In morgue kits there is a strap that is applied around the jaw to gently close it before rigor sets in. This “O” sign can be very pronounced and unsettling to see first hand. Casey probably wasn’t aware of this and was really spooked by this silent scream and used the duct tape then put a heart sticker on it as a ________

This makes sense to me. The tape is applied in small strips across the nose and mouth areas, catching her hair in the face over the Coronal plane region. One interpretation that may be drawn is that Caylee was lying on her back, upon seeing what Casey had done to her child as evidenced by the relaxed mandible; she attempted to “fix her”. As if covering up the evidence of death on her baby would change things, complete with a heart sticker. No sooner did I arrive at this conclusion on Saturday, did I see Dr.Michael Baden appear on Geraldo Live on Sunday evening bringing up the mortuary kit issue. I am not saying this idea originated here, not that it would be the first time, but it at least tells me there is corroboration within the forensic Medical community as to the premise. The FBI report on the duct tape has not been released. One thing is certain, what I have been stating all along about Casey’s prints being on the duct tape seems foreboding. With multiple strips of tape, chances are there are several. The defense has had this report for months, is this why Casey Anthony retained Todd Macaluso?

Swim Diaper?

There are several remnants recovered that are described as a diaper or pull ip item. However, there are a few that appear to be strictly synthetic. When I read the report, my immediate reaction based on some of the coloring was that it was a “swimmie”, or disposable swim diaper. After mapping out the dimensions and a closer look, I believe it is actually referring to remnants of both a pull up, a reusable swim diaper, or swim floation/assistance device or both, as pictured here:

CayleeSwim2 CayleeSwim-1 SwimDiaper-2

PrincessDiaper Diapergarbage

Paper Towels

Simply stated there is decomposition fluid on paper towels in the plastic garbage bag found in her trunk that came from Tony Lazzarros apartment.

In my opinion, Casey ripped the bag Caylees remains were in when she moved her body into or out of the trunk to her final resting place in the woods off Suburban. The stain in the trunk, emitting the ungodly stench, was the target of the paper towels after Casey returned to TonE’s apartment. She brought the paper towels and garbage bag out with her in an attempt to clean it up and realized almost immediately it was an excerise in futility. Immediately following are her comments to Amy about George Anthony borrowing her car, and the infamous squirrel stowaway story.

Her Clothes

In contrast to only a stitching remnant with a manufactures tag left of her shirt, Caylees shorts were found nearly 2 ft ft away from the laundry bag, in relatively good condition. Based on the reports findings of trunk and femural animal activity and the corresponding recovery area, I am of the opinion that it is not possible that Caylee was wearing those shorts when she was dumped in the woods. Frankly, given the fact that the actual color stripe pattern was discernable versus the condition of the other items, I am suspect Casey was in those woods more than once. How do you get only the collar of a shirt remaining and her shorts completely intact with no noted damage? Lastly, Caylees shoes if she were wearing any, were not recovered.

The lineup to press charges against Casey for uttering forged checks doesn’t stop with Amy Huizinga. The Bank of America Sr.Investigator, also stated in the OSCO investigator’s report, that the bank sustained a loss of $137.77 and it wishes to press charges. (08/07/08)

Target Investigator and representative of Target, wishes to press charges and will testify if necessary. (same report dated last summer)

I just can’t seem to get past the point of Casey calling the Nanny Zanny and the ZG going to the sawgrass apartments to check them out.. I mean ZG did admit she went their correct? What kind of coincidence is that??
    1. Casey has talked to some people about Zanny long before June..
    2. She says she dropped Caylee of with the Nanny at the sawgrass
    3. ZG acutally went to those apartments

What are the chances or precentage of this happening. What am I missing??

    BTW-

When I used the term “go away”–

It seems pretty clear this check/the filing of proof of it with the court is part of the defense plan to get Strickland to deny the State’s motion to proceed on the fraud charges at this time.
Surely Baez et al would know this would not make the charges moot. It seems more obviously like a tactical move to “delay” the fraud case. But.. to what end??

The case will not be delayed indefinitely. The charges still remain and, at some point, she will be tried (if she doesn’t plead before trial).

I really don’t have any professional experience that would lead me to believe this is a wise move, but perhaps someone with knowledge/experience can offer it up?
    (I truly am curious).

The fact that this has opened the door to issues related to how Baez is being compensated (and perhaps issues related to that bogus trust) is what has me perplexed, because this carries implications which are, as I stated, far-reaching.

If Baez made material misrepresentations to the court during that sidebar related to how he is being compensated, he is surely going to be facing disciplinary action.

Casey would have received a % of tips from the ‘shot girls’ she was managing at the bar. This is standard in that industry. Just like bartenders, chefs and hosts typically get ‘tipped out’ by the waiters at higher end restaurants. So Casey would have in all likelihood have received 10-15% of all of the tips that the shot girls received that night.

  8. ELMOSMOMMY says:

This comment that has surfaced a couple of times, seems to be made more by Michelle Bart, than from the anthonys and seems to originate from her comment that the bones cant even be confirmed to be a female. But the bones were tested for DNA and confirmed to be caylee, so I dont give any weight to this claim at all. All kinds of people make up all kinds of things, get different opinions and this is her opinion but doesnt make it true.

as for Fred`s question, I wouldnt mind seeing Casey killed by an inmate , hopefully tho she would get a couple years in jail , just for the experience, lol, before an inmate kills her. But any of Fred`s 3 options are fine with me, casey has definitely wasted enough of the taxpayers dollars.

ALL who posted about someone claiming the remains were not those of Caylee–

Shocking if a PR agent who has been hired to assist in the defense is putting this nonsense out there, because defense counsel are clearly admitting that the remains found by Hidden Oaks Elementary were those of Caylee.

They filed another motion last week, which requests the court to certify Tim Miller of Equusearch as a material witness and again seeks Equusearch records, specifically regarding the searches conducted near Hidden Oaks. (You will recall that Baez previously filed motions seeking Equusearch records, which were denied by Strickland, as they were poorly drafted/made requests that were overly broad and unduly burdensome–and also had other defects regarding the court’s reach in terms of granting the relief requested).

In this motion, the defense claims that the information requested is material to Casey’s capital murder charge, because they directly pertain to the timing and manner of the arrival of the REMAINS OF CAYLEE MARIE ANTHONY at the site where they were discovered.

In other words, they concede that the remains found by Hidden Oaks are, in fact, the remains of Caylee.

Whether or not Strickland will certify Tim Miller as a material witness and/or compel Equusearch to produce the requested documentation remains to be seen.

The larger picture here for me is that this sheds light on the defense strategy for trial.
They are going to argue that SOMEONE ELSE killed Caylee/placed her body at the dump site. (as many of us here have suspected for quite a while)

*****HERE is where an FBI Criminal Profiler would be of value as a prosecution witness, because he/she could testify to the following:

Basically, children are abducted for one of three reasons: they’re taken by kidnappers for profit; they’re taken by child molesters for sexual gratification; and they’re taken by pathetic, lonely, unstable people who desperately want a child of their own.

The kidnapper will have to communicate with the family, either by phone or written message, to set out his/her demand. The other two types want nothing at all to do with the family.

Here: Due to the 31 days.. I think CASEY IS STUCK WITH THE KIDNAPPER CLAIM. NO WAY CASEY’S DESCRIPTION OF “ZANNY” fits either the child molester profile OR the lonely, pathetic, unstable person profile. Remember, her claim that SHE KNEW THE RESPONSIBLE PARTY– FOR YEARS– was her main, initial “EXCUSE” for not contacting authorities. (that nonsense about protecting the whole Anthony family was added later).

And yet– NO DEMAND from any “Kidnapper”.NO CONTACT EITHER. (Casey’s claim of one phone call with “Zanny” and one phone call with Caylee are easily dismissed by the evidence).

Also–and this is a key point that a profiler could drive home–

A kidnapper or child molester would not have taken this much care to try to shelter the body from the elements (ok, maybe she was just trying to protect her car), but also, a kidnapper or child molester would not do ANYTHING like put a heart-shaped sticker on the corpse.

That heart-shaped sticker residue shows that the hallmarks of this “burial” were love and guilt.

Yes–she is a sociopath, and in that, she bewilders us with her lack of empathy and remorse for the crimes she commits. However, this does not mean she did not love her child, and feel at least a flicker of guilt after duct-taping Caylee’s mouth shut. We all know she was sitting up in bed at Tony’s looking at photos of Caylee on her laptop, and crying in early July–just after the family made some attempt to confront her on July 3RD, no less.

Casey’s motive was, unfortunately, a common one.
She was a young, single mother, missing out on all the fun of her late teens, early twenties, because she was “saddled” with this child. Sadly, this is not as uncommon as we would like to believe. This is yet another point that an FBI criminal profiler could testify to at trial.

I also believe she had additional motive in relation to her need to hurt/punish/torture/take revenge on her mother (and perhaps her father).

(btw-even if they argue, child molester or sad, lonely person– they are still stuck with the DECOMP evidence–and as I pointed out earlier-this evidence is not just limited to the testing of the air in the trunk; there are lay witnesses who can testify to what they personally observed about that smell)

**”TOMORROW IS A BRAND NEW DAY”. Remember where else we see that?? Yep. In her CURRENT DIARY, across from the famous JUNE 21st (–very probably 2008) entry:

“I have no regrets, just a bit worried. I just want for everything to work out okay.
I completely trust my own judgement & know that I made the right decision. I just hope that the end justifies the means.
I just want to know what the future will hold for me. I guess I will soon see — This is the happiest that I have been in a very long time.
I hope that my happiness will continue to grow — I’ve made new friends that I really like. I’ve surrounded myself with good people — I am finally happy. Let’s just hope that it doesn’t change.”

I have noticed cerain behavior regarding tips on the HOLT or the ZONE location. Right after there was a search in that area it was followed by cindy making one of her public statements about a live sighting of caylee. So my question is this, did le inform the family of all tips they received and considered “of interest” even when they were frustrated by the familaks behavior? I would assume they knew of caylees whereabouts sometime in august, I think blink stated it was by 8/11 when kronk called in his first tip. I am still curious about the 7/24 tip to the media about concrete pavers. Also the tip on 8/5 that lead to the cadaver dog search in that area.

    Boo-#1660

There are many PROPER reasons for a party to an action (either a defendant in a criminal matter, or a plaintiff OR defendant in a civil matter) to seek a transfer of venue to another county.

I haven’t been following this issue that closely, but my understanding, in general, is that the claimed reason for seeking a change of venue here is that the jury pool in the current venue is “tarnished” by virtue of media coverage of the case and the ensuing “prejudice” it has (or may have) caused.

I don’t practice in Florida, and am not familiar with how the judges there, and Strickland in particular, tend to rule on Motions to Transfer Venue.

My guess–from a far away jurisdiction– is that Strickland will not transfer venue if the basis for the motion is that the media attention/local “prejudice” against Casey impedes her right to a fair trial.

Why? Well…it’s pretty apparent that this case has garnered media attention on the NATIONAL level (hell, even on the international level). And, as we can see even here, folks from all over the country are well aware of the facts, and feel as angered by Casey (and Cindy, and George, and Lee) as the folks in the county where the case is now on the docket. (Yes, and we must also be aware that there are likewise folks in other counties, etc who are as seemingly sympathetic to Casey as the minority of supporters she somehow manages to attract in the Orlando area).

    Just for your additional knowledge:
Trial lawyers are not supposed to use a Motion to Transfer Venue for the purpose of engaging in “forum shopping”, in an effort to try to get a jury pool (from which the jurors on the case are selected) which is comprised of people from the kind of socio-economic/educational/religious/ethnic/etc backround that they feel is most BIASED IN FAVOR OF THEIR CLIENT–and/or THEMSELVES. This is NOT a proper basis for this kind of motion.

In reality? They often do it for just this improper purpose. It is part of their trial strategy. And sadly, I expect it. What ticks me off is when judges endorse it by granting motions which are clearly making specious arguments as to WHY they are seeking the transfer (particularly where the judge -and everyone on the case–KNOWS the REAL motivation for the motion).

But let’s be real here. It happens. Remember the OJ Simpson case?? Remember how much time was spent criticizing the DA’s office for how they handled that issue???
The crime happened in BRENTWOOD/the majority of witnesses were form BRENTWOOD/the people of BRENTWOOD would have been far more sympathetic to the DEAD victims of a horrendous double murder that took place in their own community, and would not have been nearly as fond of that whole “if it doesn’t fit, you must acquit!” sing-songy Johnnie Cochran approach, which went over like gangbusters in LA County.

To put it bluntly, I don’t buy, for a NY minute, that concern about the media attention is what is drawing Baez to Miami.
    NUFF SAID.

As to your last question.. I highly doubt that there is any county in the country where the general population is “soft on babykillers” as you put it. (Can you imagine such a place??? IF so, tell us all so we can be sure to NEVER VISIT THERE, let alone LIVE THERE).

In any event, while Baez might think he would fair better in front of a jury in Miami due to his own ethnicity, I think the fact that Casey blamed a nanny named “Zenaida Fernandez-Gonzalez” who allegedly has/had family ties to MIAMI, would make his client FAR LESS SYMPATHETIC.
(btw- i am just speculating on why he would select Miami- so please-no one should read this post as ME suggesting that is a rational or even real basis- I am well aware that Miami has a very diverse population, and would consider it egregious for a member of the bar to engage in this kind of forum shopping)

riddlemethis, why thank you– try to be open-minded, but then until we have all the answers, have to be I suppose. :)

Silver your post about the “payback” to the bank has me thinking WOW. At first I was like others, why pay if your client is pleading “not guilty”…none of it makes sense. NOW you have me on the edge of my seat wondering exactly what can be Baez’s motives? And what could the consequences be…this case gets more bizarre to me as each week passes. You put the icing on the cake with some good news (as your perspective is in my viewpoint)and the following statement from you is absolutely a keeper:

That could have happened from using drugs also, as testimony has been she had been smoking pot at Tony’s and lets not forget, I am sure as these college guys admitted to smoking pot, but I’d bet some other drugs were being used also (and they might not want to admit that so readily to LE. Benzodiazapam’s can cause sweats & nightmares also. She might have taken xanax, for instance.

She’ll be scallawacking whatever social system she lives (even within the prison system) to the hilt. She’ll be the ‘queen of clean’ or the ‘devil of despair’…it will not matter to her which, just so long as it’s the most notorious she can be. And hey…get the most attention. This girl IS going down as one of the coldest hearted of all time. I’ve said before, in my eyes, she’s the Lizzy Borden of our day. And no mistake, she will get ‘off’ on the notoriety.

Their whole purpose in getting Casey home, was so that she COULD talk to them, so she would feel comfortable at home and away from jail and the nasty officers and investigators so she could help bring her baby home. That was the whole idea!! )

in my honest opinion, the conversations between cindy ,casey ,lee ,george,on july 15th did not go gown the way they say.WHY didnt cindy inquire about caylee while at tony’s apartment?she steps into the apartment and warns them that casey will take their money, but doesnt even mention or ask anything about caylee.and what does it mean when lee offers to check on caylee at the babysitters ands casey says MOM WONT LET THAT HAPPEN,and the cindy says “unacceptable,i dont want to just SEE her”,(why wont cindy let that happen?,why does casey say that?)and then it gets brushed aside and later told as casey wouldnt agree to that idea?the time between picking casey up and calling 911,was spent trying to work on a story.LUV the video of cindy telling casey its her own fault she’s in jail,ITS AS IF CINDY,is gloating : ‘i told you so, if you wouldve followed my plan, this wouldnt have happened this way’huh, tell me whose fault is it? mine? my fault?its not my fault your in jail.casey can not get away with trying to blame the murder on cindy )(although cindy is the body shaker(no 1 way a baby dies at parents hand)even in a “DYNASTY” pool fight (alexis & krystal)moment, all guilt from all directions is pointed, evenly, leveled, squarely at casey.how did they know?were they there?the link above “the mom cop” she seems to be saying that had not been for his PRIOR she wouldnt have suspected her own son.

For everybody’s info post #1680′s comment by Blink’s team, explains the posts situation. But they do get posted and obnoxious trolls are kept at bay. Better ‘slow’ than ‘troll’!

Thanks Blink and team– our privilege of keeping this going almost as a forum for this long is appreciated.

Maybe this FBI interview with George is the one you are look for re the clothes in the trunk with gas cans. About the 11 min mark he states he saw clothes along with blue bin w/gas cans in her trunk on June 24th. Sorry no transcript.

Carolyn S from Maryland, if you go here: http://www.wesh.com/download/2009/0121/18530509.pdf

page 9 shows that Cindy told Charles Crittenden, a co-worker at Gentiva, after picking up the car from Johnson’s, and Cindy returned to work, “The care “smells like a dead body” and also mentioned “that Caylee’s carseat was there, as were some of Caylee’s clothes, her favorite doll, and some toys.”. In George’s interview where he gets sick and throws up after Yuri Melich and John Allen MAKE George describe when he picked up the car (interview was July 24th and can be found here – http://www.docstoc.com/docs/6036330/2008-0724-Police-Interview-George-Anthony ), George says, “I glance in the car on the passenger side, I see her seat’s there and I see some other stuff around in it. And as I walk around and put the key in it, I say “Please don’t let this be what I think it is.” …. then he goes on to tell about the bag and the stain when he opened up the trunk and how he just whispered, “Please don’t let this be my Caylee”.

I am just curious how our posts are showing up. Mine shows up as soon as I hit submit and this post is only my 3rd one and it should be #1692. Yet when I come back in several hours, everytime I have posted an answer and link to someone and the number of the post changes and there may be a bunch of posts seperating what I was responding to. I don’t know if I have done something wrong or maybe if the posts must be approved but I was just curious if this happens to others…I did see another person had pretty much the same problem.

I really enjoy this site Blink and Kleat, Silverspnr, Maura and everyone else also…kudos for your insight and thoughts, brain energy and collective thinking. It’s the best here…no doubt about it! Thanks again…Poirot.

June 8th again– something about that date, some reason that triggered Cindy’s memory. Were there ‘two’ occassions that Casey left with Caylee, one on June 8th, also a Sunday. Could the apparent fight and choking incident have actually occurred on Sunday June 8th? Where Casey took Caylee, slept over both in Ricardo’s bed, then in the morning, Ricardo woke up to only Casey, no Caylee. Casey said she took the baby home. Cindy said no time did Casey ever return the baby in the night and take off again.

Should Cindy be believed given her track record of protecting Casey? Cindy did aggressively state that ‘no fight’ happened when Mn’M asked in the depo, about the June 15th Sunday evening. Maybe Cindy was being truthful about no fight on the 15th, but what about June 8th? Was there an arguement, fight, and could this be the source of the ‘choking’ incident?

This would make sense for Cindy’s memory that Casey took off with Caylee– they did leave and stay in a man’s bed!! Cindy may not want to admit this to investigators if she knew Caylee was returned.

There is a reason that Cindy remembered June 8th.

    #1667-chica,

As for now, that’s the post number, (subject to change without notice) ha! I see some others have answered your question about Tony waking up to find Casey crying while looking at pictures of Caylee, and some people even gave you a link to read/listen. Keep in mind though, and you’ll surely find it in the links…..Tony did go on to say that Casey wasn’t crying “real tears”…. She was crying the way she did the day Baez gave the statement and she was standing behind him, on the day of the grand jury hearing.

#1672 silverspnr. Thanks for your perspective on my question about change of venue. I always thought andrea yates got off pretty light! I could never understand how any jury could buy she did not know what she was doing when she got aroound to child #2, 3, 4 etc
