Caylee/Casey Anthony Case: New Discovery Released – Lee Anthony Granted Immunity?

Orlando, Florida– Over 1500 pages of New Discovery have been released by the State’s Attorney’s Office in the Case against Casey Anthony for the murder of 34 month old Caylee Marie Anthony.

A source speaking on condition of anonymity to blinkoncrime.com, believes almost half of the information contained in the reports relates to Jesse Grund, Casey’s former fiancee’.

Oh, man, I was scanning through the comments on the WESH site and 2 or 3 people are indeed arguing against all reason that the remains are not proven to be Caylee. I guess there really is some kind of contingent afterall. Whatever!

There is so much to read on this case! I am getting cross eyed. Thank you, Kleat, for bringing out that info re: GA. Very strange behavior, indeed.

Have the Anthonys prepared too many scenarios and pointed the finger in too many directions to be able to pull any one thing off?

    Hello, to everyone!

As I was reading the newly released documents, I noticed Cindy made a report on 08/07/08, about finding the hair straightener in Casey’s bathroom.

See Cindy and Casey’s jail house video 07/25/08, at 9:00am – Part 2 of 2 (go to 7:02 minute marker)
    http://www.wftv.com/video/18205807/index.html
Casey says to her mother that “No one has touched her head since the first week of April after her 21st birthday last year (2007)”

Casey and Cindy speak again the same day but in the afternoon. Casey tells her mother “Remember, she is the one that gave me my straightener” referencing the nanny. Cindy responds “that’s true, okay”.
Question: Why would you put a straightener in your hair when it is already straight?

There was something else I found odd! If the Nanny supplied the diapers, socks, clothing, toys, shoes and the pink floral car seat (which I have never seen one of those before) why, would Casey have to buy a blow-up mattress for Caylee to spend the night? Casey already stated to her mother that you name it and the Nanny had it.

I guess what I am trying to say, is that Casey had left the house on the 16th of June. You cannot tell me Cindy had not gone through Casey’s room to tidy up/being nosy during the month of June and July while she was gone. If Cindy would have found a used hair straightener laying around I am sure it would have been in the trash. It only took Cindy 1 day to destroy all the evidence she could when they brought the car back home.

    End of rant

  4. westsidehudson says:

“can someone answer my question: I read the article on Wesh about how Baez’s team took things from the house belonging to Caylee 12 to be excact and didn’t notify L.E. or F.B.I..can you do that? they said they needed it for DNA becouse the F.B.I was looking into testing things for DNA…then turned them over in december…should they have reported what they did?”

I would like to expand on norm’s question above, to those that have excellent memories, or easy access to docs: when was it exactly that Cindy handed over the brush to LE that she knew wasn’t specifically Caylees? Before or after this?

Also, thanks for your analysis kleat, I’m going to read through those George pages.

  5. westsidehudson says:

I’ve read these oldies but goodies, in the past, but have a new perspective.

“The other thing is why would you run out of gas and not have someone just buy you a gallon of gas or two of gas until you can get to gas station and fill up. It doesn’t make sense. Especially if the car had ALL THIS EVIDENCE that’s gonna link her to Caylee’s DEATH. …..” July 30th, Cindy Anthony. Test results were leaked from the Body Farm on August 27th, remains were located December 11th, and positively identified as Caylee’s December 19th.

In my opinion, this is strong evidence that Cindy suspects , or knows , that Caylee is dead by the end of July.

In this same interview, Cindy tries to assert that perhaps Jeff Hopkins had Casey’s car, implying that HE may have abandoned it at Amscot. That Ricardo and Amy are “Zanny”, because she found a Glenwood address in her book and because Casey had presented a photo as being Zanny’s apartment in the past, but was actually Ricardo’s apartment. According to Cindy, in this interview, Jesse was a “hot-head” that was overly enamored with Caylee , and had “connections” with OSCO, implying a massive conspiracy.

She also mentions that Casey has had a problem with lies, “nothing big”, but Cindy went into therapy in order to learn how to handle it. I’d venture to guess that something was a little more than “nothing big” if it sails you into therapy. Casey said that she wanted to go into therapy, but never did. Cindy was hoping that the family would go into group therapy, (all a couple of months before Caylee disappeared ). “No red flags” as Cindy stated in a ‘Good morning America’ Segment?

  6. Kleat says:

westsidehudson, Baez WAS defensive in his comment when the media questioned him on those items yesterday. The Anthony’s did not trust the FBI or the OSCO or any other investigators to look for Zani (say while thinking of this– why has no one asked Casey how ‘Zani’ spells ‘Zanny’??).

If Caylee was alive, and if there was the remotest chance that Zany’s prints or DNA was on these items that were from Zanie or her apartment, then even if Baez has a better independent lab to test the items, can Baez also investigate the fingerprint or DNA leads as well as all those authorities who are looking for Caylee and would want to find the Zanee person to find the child?

Don’t know, on your other question.

Yeah, re: George’s behaviour on the armed people holding Caylee lead– why not tell the known location unless George didn’t trust the authorities to handle the tip properly and go burst in on some innocent party. You’d think the FBI, to whom George had just spoken to for some hours, would know how to handle this situation quietly and appropriately, so why not call them instead if he didn’t want OSCO to know. Even if George thought the tip were not genuine, giving the full information would be important because it might be telling about the tipster’s story, if it changes from time to time. Or not call at all.

It was all about the jury pool and getting stories out that could later raise that little reasonable doubt to support the defense in whatever it does at trial. Jurors will have heard so much prior, that they can think– yes, I remember something about that when all this happened. Even if they don’t believe it, it’s in their minds and makes the concept presented at trial a bit familiar and more acceptable. (JMHO)

What gets me on the things Baez had was also bed sheets/pillow case in the list. The umbilical cord threw me for a loop as I never ever once thought of saving my kids dropped off umbilical cords… oh well to each their own I guess. Guess my question is WHY would the defense need DNA in September unless they already knew there was a body out there….even LE states “This may be done in the event DNA is needed at a future date”

  8. westsidehudson says:

Sorry I can’t confirm the date of Cindy’s statements, I used July 30th, but that was yesterday’s doc release. I can’t find the first page of that transcript, but the LE officer mentions that tests haven’t come back yet.
I’m not sure if it was Body Farm tests, or the DNA results.

  9. ItsMeLyn says:

whoops.. comment directed to #54 Westsidehudson…sorry

  10. westsidehudson says:

Okay, I found the video! It was July 30, 2008.

  11. Theresa says:

I have a legal question I hope Blink can answer. I know that Baez can not be held liable for pointing the finger at Jesse but can the A’s. Do they have the right to accuse Jesse without him having any recourse or could he sue.
    Thanks

  12. westsidehudson says:

    Kleat,

“George’s behaviour on the armed people holding Caylee lead…”

Why would you do a round -a- bout- robin and call a person in LE unrelated to the case to report info? (the guy with the card wasn’t on the missing person search, right?). This way , you can pretend that you have a valid lead, but can then later opine that things were missed because too much time went by. You have to know that by calling anyone in LE with a lead about the case, they are going to relay the info to group assigned to the case and not necessarily investigate it themselves. There’s a few steps there, unless I misunderstood the document. ??

  13. westsidehudson says:

    Theresa

“Do they have the right to accuse Jesse without him having any recourse or could he sue.”

I don’t know that Jesse has a case. I don’t think (maybe I’m wrong, correct me, please) that The Anthonys ever made statements to the press or any media specifically using Jesse’s name. They were relaying “suspicions” about him to LE. The only reason those statements were released was because of the Florida Sunshine law, so I don’t see how he could prove defamation if they didn’t intentionally have this info thrown out in the media.

I think the zenaida Gonzalez thing took off because the Anthonys spoke to reporters about her , as an agent for Casey, so to speak.

  14. Kleat says:

westsidehudson, those interview transcripts are from the FBI interviews, aren’t they? (the MSM is terrible about titling the release links– WESH did, but titled Cindy’s interview with a 2009 date!) The FBI interviews were after the first LE interviews and before the ‘timeline’ interviews with LE on about Aug 4th? (and George’s call to that ‘old’ card detective contact was Aug 5th?). Strange– he had all direct contacts and phone numbers, but calls the guy with the card from the past. Or do I have dates mixed up– we can’t really trust the dates the mainstream media puts on things either.

  15. westsidehudson says:

    Kleat
The FBI interviews with Cindy and George were from the end of July , last year. I found a different link earlier, but forgot to post it:

Video Released Of FBI Questioning Casey’s Parents
    http://www.wftv.com/news/18032990/detail.html

    Posted: 12:00 pm EST November 21, 2008Updated: 4:52 pm EST November 24, 2008
ORLANDO, Fla. — New FBI interviews released Friday revealed the most damaging evidence in the case against Casey could come from her own father.

“The worst odor that you could possibly smell in this world. I’ve smelled that odor before. It smelled like a decomposed body,” George Anthony told investigators during a “July 31 interview.”

  16. westsidehudson says:

    ItsMeLyn,

“WHY would the defense need DNA in September unless they already knew there was a body out there”

Indeed. Also isn’t there an existing DNA profile of Caylee, anyway, back from when Jesse Grund decided to rule himself in/out of paternity? I think that they might have been looking for something else, or didn’t want to alert anyone that they were doing this testing at the time.

  17. dee says:

can i sue the anthony’s for my cost of therapy sessions to deal with this mess????? my God how much more can we take, how do they sleep at night……….?

  18. Kleat says:

or… taking certain things from the house, would mean those certain items were not in the house for anyone else to gather in a future search warrant. Strange that the Spiderman toothbrush was given to Jose and if the DNA tests from this result in some inconsistency with that of the future identification of things that may be related to Caylee, or indeed, to a body itself, they could say ‘we got different results’ so maybe the conclusion of ID of articles or a body could be disputed.

Those items were given to the attorney for the accused for some reason, safekeeping until they needed the DNA to compare to something out there– maybe a potential father, maybe to dispute the body’s id if needed, maybe to discover some other genetic information of use. (?)

Hair straightener– there is a school photo of Casey with very long straight hair. Casey tells C.E. in her interview Oct 14, 2008, that she cut her hair when she was 17 and it was very short and that she just started growing it out again in the past year.

(this is interesting– Casey is in the hands of ‘the enemy’ trying to trap her into a confession (etc) in a room that Casey knows has some form of recording device, audio at least, if not video too, she’s very comfy and not intimidated at all, and she knows she is ‘at the end of the hallway’. She has involked, she is in the process of telling C.E. what Jose’s office phone number is, and as he is dialing that number to bring Jose Baez into the picture on behalf of Casey, he asks Casey when she cut her hair. At that moment, Baez’s office answers and she has to speak to them. After that call and some chit chat, Casey says something like ‘back to your question’ and explains about when she cut her long hair and how short it was etc.

This is someone who is facing about the most serious charges someone can face, yet she catches that question about ‘her’ and ‘her looks’ even as her attention is on the phonecall to her lawyer. She doesn’t miss a beat picking that theme (‘HER’ and her appearance) when the call is over. It’s all about ‘her’.

Why would cutting hair from very long in highschool at 17 years old, be important? Does this mark a change in Casey’s behaviour, the haircut marking a change in her ‘personality’ as she becomes an adult? If so, then the change in behaviour is marked much earlier than August 2005 with the birth of Caylee. The behaviour may have contributed to Casey becoming pregnant, not the pregnancy causing the behaviour.

Interesting that this question was tweeked out in this last minute opportunity as Casey was being wisked off to jail. (not that this hair cutting information couldn’t be gotten from friends, photos)

Why would Casey have needed a ‘hair straightener’ when her hair was cut short? So when did she acquire that straightener– before chopping her locks? (she knew Zani/Zanny/Zenaida) for 6 years, according to Iassen Donov’s info– around 16-17 years old mark)

  19. michigan fan says:

I posted on the other story, about Padilla, and I noticed that Jesse was working on June 16th but was NOT working on June 9th. I thought that maybe the anthony’s were trying to blame him in the beginning. One other thing that I got from the docs on Jesse, is that he was NOT going to make it as a cop. He resigned for personal reasons and a while back, on Nancy Grace, he said that he came to realize that being a cop was not for him. Which if you read over the documents, he realized the right thing. I think that they will have a hard time trying to accuse him because these documents only support his reasons for resigning. Maybe he was trying to become a cop to impress Casey, since she had an attraction to cops??

  20. boo says:

#64 kleat didn’t blinks articles on kw he mentions searching on 8/5. Also didn’t he run into george at amscot? Also there a cadaver dog search based on a tip 8/5.

Ok Kleat and gimmeashot I mean oneshot….scoot over a notch in that bandwagon ,I’m coming along for the ride. The mystery killers(like OJ) did it.Add the red herrings of Jesse ,Amy and such to confuse and bamboozle the jury. The ZFG story to protect the family.Oh brother but I think thats the way they’ll go.I’t's friday I may go have that shot after all.

  22. Tommie says:

Samantha post #53: I don’t think it was chemical “straigtner”…I’m pretty sure it was straighting IRON. And I would bet money that Casey ripped it off from someone and when Cindy asked where it came from (knows she doesn’t have $, or shouldn’t be spending $ on a straighting iron when Cindy’s paying all the bills)…Casey just tells her mom, Oh Zanny gave it to me. You know Zanny, the imaginary person that Casey uses to explain away ANY situation where she can’t tell the truth. ie: Crashing at Zanny’s (really crashing at Ricardo’s); Zanny gave me this and that (can’t tell the truth about how she really got it); Zanny took my baby…(her baby’s dead, but she didn’t do it).

LIES, LIES, LIES!!! Jesse’s right – she’s diabolical!!!!

  23. susanm says:

kleat, i noticed the whole haircut conversation too, i’d like to see the picture ,as i think she is the one in the myspace saying samantha is missing, but anyway ,WHAT happened to the interview they were going to do, they are just waiting for baez, then she goes to get processed into jail, i dont understand happened ,i thought they going to do an interview.

  24. Kleat says:

whatever the best defense will be, I’m sure Blink’s speculation of ‘the bus’ and who it’s headed for, will be make the most sense. (WESH’s defense attny analyst also suggests that Cindy will be a target so obviously that makes sense to other defense lawyers).

What the defense will do, will be held close to the vest I’m sure. (like withholding those items on behalf of their client)

  25. Kleat says:

michigan fan, interesting, Casey likely had some info on Jesse’s schedule.

Jesse has a bachelor’s degree in criminology, going into law enforcement wasn’t a last minute decision, it was related to his chosen field. Clearly, it was not the choice for him and it’s good he found out for himself so early– clearly he is bright and will do very well once this is over and done. He is a victim of a manipulative sociopath/psychopath, and he’s not the only victim. He may decide to go back to university after a break from all this, build his career from his tremendous life experiences– he’s had a lot more than many at his age– not good for sure, but he has a lot going for him and he’ll come through his ‘trial by fire’ well, I’m sure.

He may have some tremendous contacts in areas of law enforcement that once thing are over, can be developed. He may not be a street cop– what the heck does that imply– very little. He is young and has time, lots of time. He just has to focus and move on and up. (JMHO)

  26. FairWitness says:

Hi Blink, I’ll tell you what; I am sick of all the machinations surrounding this case and all the sleazy strategies being employed by the defendant and her attorneys.

Furthermore, it is an unmitigated outrage that Caylee’s own grandparents and uncle have refused to submit to polygraphs and have been granted or sought immunity from prosecution prior to giving their truthful testimony in the murder of their supposedly beloved grandchild.

To George, Cindy and Lee Anthony; if you are reading Blink on Crime’s blog I say to you:

Redeem yourselves. Tell all you know about Casey’s involvement in Caylee’s murder. TELL THE TRUTH! Avenge Caylee. Help convict her killer. Casey isn’t deserving of your support and she doesn’t appreciate it. She is an evil monster who deserves to die for her crime. She’s already lost to you. She took Caylee from you with cruelty and brutality. Your futures depend on the justice you help get for Caylee. If you don’t seek justice for Caylee, you are doomed. You will never recover. Your lives will be a misery, as they are now, for the rest of your existence. It is not too late to do the right thing. SO DO IT!

  27. westsidehudson says:

Oh Kleat , (warning snark to follow):

The Anthonys were talking out of both sides of their mouths. First, there was definitely a real “Zanny the Nanny” because Casey told us so, we have an address and her hair straightener. We believe Casey. On the flip side, Casey has had some issues with lying that have actually caused one of us to go into therapy. Casey recognized her problem, but she never followed up on going herself. We never met the nanny, EVER, and NO ONE else has either.

BUT, just in case you can’t buy the Zanny story, I think Zanny is code for someone else like Ricardo, Amy or Jesse. Casey was trying to get us to figure out this gigantic puzzle , because, face it, people who really want to get to the bottom of a missing persons’ case always speak obtusely and in code, because that is the quickest way to locate someone, rather than being forthright and direct. By the way, Ricardo, Amy and Jesse all seem to be people that want to teach other people ‘a lesson’, with a script.

Oh, and the entire police force, including the FBI is involved so we are hesitant to share any info with them. Their main purpose, because not much else is going on in Florida & they love Jesse Grund so much that they would put all of their careers on the line for him, (even though he resigned & they don’t all know him), is to frame our daughter.

We have our own PI “who is watching the perpetrators”, but we never share this location, nor the identities with the police because they aren’t trustworthy. Ah, but alas, we somehow lost track of them. Flip side again, the police, who are involved in this great conspiracy are okay to call when we have annoying protesters on our lawn, or when one of us goes off to a hotel to contemplate suicide.

**On the hair straightener issue: in court, Casey’s hair did appear to have a slight wave to it. She could have used it, or not. I suspect that it was something that she simply threw out there to make the story richer, a red herring, like I am diverting attention from myself by bringing up a hair straightener, if I produce a solid item saying it belongs to someone else, it magically makes her real. How she paid for it ,or acquired it, well, you know ‘how she rolled’.

Even though I’m not working today, I am now stepping away from the desk…yesh

  28. dee says:

does Amy, Ricardo, Jesse some how spell out Zendia? I can find the “A” the “I” the “D” and the “E” but no Z,N…hmmm maybe “B” is Baez and “N” is NOBODY!!!!! Nobody is Casey!

  29. Kleat says:

Cindy refused to give her credit card statements to Uri Melich, not once, but continued to claim by a now all to familiary phrase: “It’s NOT RELEVANT”. (but Cindy– ‘That’s the answer I can’t have!!’ Uri pleads, while holding Cindy’s hand with his in a supportive fashion…. )

Those statements from the time Casey was 15 or 16, would be so telling– would reveal when Casey started doing what, buying what for what purpose where– they would record so much of the ‘maturing’ of this psychopath.

The hair straightener might just be on one of those purchase records— yep, reason it went to Baez and not to LE for sure.

  30. Kleat says:

Anita, Tom Luka has so much more to bother with than to tie himself to this case for the future– he had a way out now that the issue he was hired for was no longer a risk and did the smart move. Good for him.

I think that the fingerprints on the duct tape, the smell of decomposition in her trunk along with evidence that caylee had been there will speak loud and clear. Cindy is pure evil she is viciously attacking Jesse and Amy. Seems like she is seeking revenge on amy for acussing her daughter of the stolen checks. If you cross cindy you have hell to pay!! I think that Jesse will be exonerated because of all the lies and contradictions in that whole family!! casey cindy!! george and lee. They arent dealing with amatuers as they think. The prosecution will trip them on many of those lies just sit back get the pop corn out and watch it all unfold. The prosecution has to much on casey!! keep in mind baez is not that skilled and especialy in criminal law. I think he has only been a lawyer a short time! just by his speech and actions !! show that he isnt all that as a lawyer.
His ego is inflated because of his dream team assistants! without them he is nothing absolutely nothing.
There is to much evidence against casey! she again has snow balled her mother with all those wacko lies of hers and cindy because she too is severely mental is falling for it. Rick plasea cindys brother dried desperately to talk sense in cindy . He tried to get her to see the reality of what casey has done. Cindy isnt buying it, she is on a path of self destruction. No matter how many notes she and her hubbie and son tell!! they wont be able to pull it off!! they arent that smart. Oh like you said to be a fly on the wall!!! in that court room!!

Wouldn’t it be something if Jesse did it??? Ok, he didn’t, but man what a twist that would be in this already twisty turny case. Poor Jesse. But he’ll be ok in the long run.

So George the cop got suckered into an internet scam? Jeez, he’s not too bright either. I liked him better when i thought he was an online gambler.

What a cast of characters. If they made this up for a movie I wouldn’t believe it a bit.

  40. westsidehudson says:

    Kleat,

Cindy gave detectives the hair straightener. She gave Baez a “scrunchie”. I had to look at it twice. But you might be right that the credit card activity involved the purchase of that item. I don’t think Cindy wanted detectives to see all of the credit card purchases, as perhaps the magnitude of Casey’s misuse of them would be revealed, as well.

  41. westsidehudson says:

    Luka might come back:

Prosecutors questioned Lee Anthony under oath Thursday at the State Attorney’s Office. Luka said they finished interviewing Anthony and dont’ need him to answer anymore questions.

Therefore, Luka’s role in the case has come to an end, he said. If something comes up and Lee Anthony needs an attorney again, Luka would return.

He may help Lee Anthony in the civil case against his sister. Attorneys for the woman suing Casey Anthony for defamation may want Lee Anthony and his family to answer questions they initially balked out during their depositions.
