Caylee/Casey Anthony Case: The Tattoo Is “Caylee” Related- And a Clue?

Orlando, FL– Late this afternoon, after pouring over 1400 pages of discovery, a contributor to blinkoncrime.com caught my attention.

Could Casey’s tattoo yield clues into the disappearance of Caylee Marie Anthony as long suspected?

Casey told Lee Anthony her tattoo was “Caylee related” during a jail house visit, although she stated there were no further clues associated with it. She chose the stars because Caylee loved the stars. JoJo would hold her up outside to show them to her at night.

However, comparing the image of her actual tattoo, and that of the Art it was based on uncovered during an interview with On the Record Host, Greta Van Sustern, there is a discrepancy.

CaseyTattooCompare

The tat on Casey Anthony’s left shoulder is missing a “dot” in the Northern most star of the design. What could that mean?

Was she paying tribute to 34 month old Caylee Marie, who did not make it to her 3rd birthday at her hand, by filling in only 2?

Was she honing her “script” whereby the missing “dot” in the star is some sort of validation of the timer 55 theory, or that Caylee would be home by her birthday so she could “connect the dot” in celebration?

One thing is certain, although she was in custody on and off for nearly a year, OCSO only imaged that tattoo a few weeks ago, why?

What did they recently learn?

Thanks to Stacy Dobson, contributing to blinkoncrime.com for this article.

Couldn’t the guy at “Cast Iron Tattoo” just expalin why he did not dot the third star??

Ask him if he was specifically asked not to, or was it a mistake.

Ask him if she elaborated why she did not want it dotted.

For the heck of it, I googled timer 55. Casey was a bit computer saavy.

Thank you Stacy Dobson and Blink. Very intriguing.

Didn’t Caylee have a birthmark on her left shoulder, as well? Oh Geez, maybe the missing dot represents the star being burnt out – - as in the death of Caylee. Wait, does Casey’s Hopespring bedroom window face out north – - the window she didn’t want Annie D. going near?

Here I thought, given the timing, the tattoo was photographed for the economics crime – - proof of product or service obtained by fraudulent means. As you reminded of Casey herself saying this was “Caylee related”, that really strengthens the purchase.

But that missing dot is suspiciously representative of something.
I was thinking about the original art and copyright infringement, but even altering the original art is infringement.

Fantastic that you spotted that one dot missing.
I was planning on comment-retiring for a while, but you have drawn me back in. Is it a 2-star meaning or a one-star meaning? Geez.

  6. wpgmouse says:

Did Casey lose another baby prior to Caylee’s death? Was Casey’s miscarriage confirmed? Is this what Cindy meant when she said “I won’t lose another one”?

  7. huh!! Interesting, brings to mind Diane Downs who purchaed a unicorn and had her childrens names engraved just before she shot them.

Okay, so did investigators visit the tattoo shop in regards to the fraud case, and as a result received new info such as the meaning of the tattoo
    to Casey?

  9. wpgmouse says:

On June 15, Casey went to the Cast Iron to book another appointment for August 19 (although I don’t think she had any plans of making that appointment because she was counting on being in California). Had she intended, though, to fill that starburst with something? A heart.

  10. Olive says:

The only thing I have ever hear was the jailhouse conversation with Lee, mentioned above. How do you know that Casey chose the stars because Caylee liked them? Did you speak with the tattoo artist to find this out? TIA

  11. suz says:

Not to put too fine a point on it, but we forgetting that Casey is a bit of a dope? Not sure what the prevailing theory is about the tat and its symbolism, but it’s already sounding too clever for our dimwitted heroine. (And I mean that in the nicest of ways, lol)

  12. wpgmouse says:

    suz

Her computer was loaded with all kind of imagery and symbolism, that may be strange to us, but obviously had meaning to her. IMO she likes “hidden messages” . . . just listen to her jail visits with her parents.
I find her to be a fairly clever girl, but this is JMO.

  13. Sarah says:

Could the three stars stand for Lee, Casey & Caylee? Cindy considered all three “her” children – maybe in some way, Casey did, too?

  14. #11 Suz you might be right about reading too much into the missing dot on the tat? i think the fact she got the tat aftwr caylee went missing has more meaning. JMO 8-)

  15. BrendaT says:

OK this is utterly superficial and spiteful. That back was very unattractive. Looked to be erupting. I think she may be off-gassing toxin.

  16. Randie says:

    #13

What has passed thru my mind is…..one star for Cindy, one for Casey and one for Caylee. But, Caylee’s dot is gone, just like she is.

Better yet, the whole scenario of two dotted stars representing two year old Caylee does sound better.

  17. Kleat says:

My first thought on the missing ‘star’ of ‘three’ stars, is a representation of Caylee herself, the other two, are the remaining CMA’s, back to ‘as it should be’ for Casey, the only child of her mother.

Yes, there is the Caylee birthmark (as Casey said in police interview re: identifying marks) and the tattoo could symbolically give Casey her own mark on her left shoulder, but purposefully or not, ‘missing’ the little ‘third’ star.

Interesting, “IF” this was not a mistake, error that Casey did not notice and go back to have fixed by Tommy (iirc the right name), that she included the reference to the star, without the star itself, rather than leave the entire symbol out of the design.

It seems to mean the three women– Casey, her mother, and the empty space for the missing third part.

  18. Kleat says:

Randy, I like the first suggestion better, if only because Casey didn’t give Caylee that much thought once she was gone– I doubt she would give the whole tattoo meaning about Caylee, although she might make that connection ‘after the fact’ to imply the tattoo was about Caylee for convenience and fit with the ‘why’ explanation to Lee. I don’t buy it– the beautiful life it was not– ending in trash bags with maggots and duct tape over her mouth and nose, once–twice– three times. This tattoo is not about Caylee IMHO.

  19. Kleat says:

It does, however, leave a space now emty, that was her and the beautiful life is now for Casey, because that star of the mother of the mother, no longer exists.

  20. justice23 says:

Okay, this is probably far-fetched, but going with the theory that many have had on and off over the last year or so of this case, is it actually possible the stars didn’t actually represent the two remaining CMA’s at all but Casey’s now ideal or “beautiful life” she really appeared to want and be planning for with TonE?

Remember he said he didn’t want boys when he had kids down the line. There were also notes in Casey’s handwriting w/her scrawling Casey Marie Lazzarro multiple times on pieces of paper in different forms. Also, it is alleged by many and I believe LE too to some extent from what I remember reading in previous docs that Casey wanted a life with TonE but Caylee stood in the way of that in her mind. Speculation seems to be that the “Beautiful Life” tattoo somehow had something to do with Casey now having the life she wanted (with TonE included in it) with Caylee missing from it. Coincidence? I don’t know. This is just my opinion of course.

  21. justice23 says:

Sorry … I left out the main part … really late here and need sleep

So in closing, two complete stars left(Casey and TonE) leading the “Beautiful Life” now with the third star present, but incomplete (deceased Caylee). Casey now has her “beautiful life” partying, etc with TonE without the hassles and everyday responsibilities of her child weighing her down and for which TonE allegedly didn’t want in any future sense as he commented he only wanted to have boys (as if he has any control over that). Just a theory though … could also actually be the remaining CMA’s, although as jealous as she appeared to be of little Caylee, Casey also seemed to have a deep inner conflicting hatred of her mom. JMO

Justice, I think any combination reflecting the “left out” dotted star is a possibility. I know many think Casey is not that bright. She is however, all about the drama, this fits. There is purpose to this, of that I am sure. Self-serving and loathesome, but purposeful just the same.

And for the record, I disagree with those that think Casey is “not that smart”. She is the female Keyzer Soze. Lazy definately. Review her recordings with OCSO. I have said all along the one thing that strikes me in my bullseye is the sheer juxtpah she showed to John Allen and Yuri Melich. Two of the most competent, professional, kind and compassionate guys you will ever meet. That said, if I were ever in a position where I did something bad and sat in a conference room with the 2 of them like Casey did, I would draw pictures of me in my position on the grassy knoll, show them the ladder I used to kidnap Lindberg, and let them dig up my basement to find Amelia Earhardt; they are that good at what they do.

I think from the friend sides, anyone calling her not that smart are the ones she duped the most and it is “about them”

  22. Coreysmom says:

I think Casey said that the tatt was for Caylee just to make herself sound like a doting mother. I don’t think it had anything to do with Caylee save for Casey’s newfound freedom.
I’m not trying to be mean here but could it be that Casey had a pimple there and had to come back later to have the dot put in place?
Anyhoo, it would not surprise me in the least if there is some sort of symbolism. With Casey anything is possible.

  24. suz says:

wpgmouse, eh, of course you guys could be right, but whenever theories start creeping towards making her a criminal genius or giving her depth, I remind myself that dum-dum did not even have an alibi, a plausible story as to what happened to the kid, or a disposal plan. So it is hard for me to imagine that she put that much thought into a dot (meaning anything more than answering yes to “Do you want me to make it slightly different than lindsay lohan’s?” or whomever she copied), but hey, hopefully tattoo dude can shed some light.

Like others, I am going with the theory that they took a pic of the tattoo for the check fraud case so they could counter any arguments that she needed Amy’s dough for an emergency.

Except they are not charging her with the theft of the $400 she probably used for the tat. Her economic offenses are dated after that. I wish we could get an exact date on the tat. I have read 7/2, 7/3, and on Greta when they did the interview she used 7/6. I agree tat dude will be shedding some light, and I expect to see an updated interview of Bobby Williams.

  25. oneshot says:

b, could it be that it’s about herself & TonyL, w/o Caylee? Since it’s Italian, meant to be seen by TonyL (particularly in bed)…so it’s about her, “them” as a couple, but excludes Caylee and in that way, is “about” Caylee?? … it’d be interesting to find out if the tat parlor made an error of omission that either she didn’t catch or she was waiting to get taken care of in the next go-round that never happened. Wonder why her jail mates haven’t helped her out a bit in exchange for a twinkie or poptart…unless she has to wait to be in gen pop for that…well, Casey, you’re time for that is nearing…

  26. Fred McNeil says:

Thanx for the explanation of what “timer55″ meant because that REALLY had me perplexed. You see: I dabble in electronics and the most common “timer” chip (integrated circiut) was the 555 timer and it’s still used today for simple apps. (I still have a few in my junk box, but I use microproccessors these days). But I thought to myself: surely that ignorant tramp could NOT posibly know what a timer chip is; could she??? Now I understand!

  27. R.L. Haley says:

A flesh alibi? Did she not tell the tat artist she would come back with Caylee.Mabey on Caylees birthday to dot it,mabey she will say that was the plan “after I follow this script, and get Caylee back from ZG”

Blink: I looked at the pictures posted on the last thread regarding the duct tape. Today I have fresh eyes. This is what I see today, much clearer than yesterday.

picture 6 dt…heart is on the right edge, perfect outline

#7. tape has been flipped the heart is now on the left edge where it is puffy

    #8. Left edge

#9. its right there. You can see the outline of the side of the heart as it makes it way to the point of the heart.

  29. Sharai says:

Oh,oh,now I see the dot is missing in the middle of the star at the top left. H-m-m-m-, I can’t even guess what significance, if any, it has. I think, as others have stated, the very fact that she got the tat in the midst of supposedly searching for her kidnapped daughter, has greater significance. JMO Frankly, I was surprised by it’s size, can’t miss that tat.

  30. hmmm well what I know about tats is that they do have a meaning and are generally chosen for what the tat means to them personally. I do recall casey and lee having a jailhouse conversation where casey is talking about how caylee is the brightest star? i still think that getting the tat when she did is more damaging to the defense unless she told someone what the tat means to her specifically

  31. Joan says:

    Good morning Blink!

In a way it’s good that the tattoo and the tape evidence was released at the same time …I can’t bear to look at the tape evidence, I’m afraid I’ll just lose it…

In Kathi Belich’s interview, Bill Sheaffer is saying that there were 3 pieces of tape LAYERED over Caylee’s mouth and nose. Wouldn’t that mean that Caylee couldn’t have drowned in the pool? I mean – what would the purpose be of putting layers of tape over her mouth/nose if she was already dead?? I just pray that the poor dear wasn’t conscious when that vicious witch put the tape on her. Can you imagine – your last waking moment on this earth watching you own mother doing this to you!! This just haunts me!!

Also – getting back to my comment (#277 in your Discovery Review Part 1 segment) – to the “Hero” list for our “Keeping the Faith for Caylee” Memorial …I think we also need to add Bill Sheaffer! What do you think? You can tell that he is just too through with the whole defense crew.

Seriously though – if something like this commemoration from the Blink Community is ever planned, I volunteer to be part of any organizing committee.

As always Blink – you are AWESOME!

  32. Teri says:

I can’t figure out why so many of you think there is pics of the heart shaped sticker.

The examiners/experts have said “no photograph.” Why would they say such a thing if it wasn’t true?
The examiner actually marked the tape at the location, the image reference is to the “residue”. Although the residue may have disappeared, it is still possible to see an outline in it’s place, as it “displaces” the surface area through the transfer.

  33. Kleat says:

R.L.Haley, the Saturday after Amy returned home, was the date of Casey’s next tattoo appointment– she was driving Amy’s car on the 15th of July and explained a version of ‘why’ to the Danny C. when she dropped by his tat shop to make the appointment. She said she would bring Caylee with her. (all IIRC, not August, but July)

  34. Gavriella says:

This is just my opinion, but considering the size of the tattoo, among other things, it just seems to me that it is Casey’s trophy — the award she gave to herself for having rid herself of the burden of her daughter, and perhaps that’s even why the empty star is the uppermost star of the three, being indicative of her freedom, whereas the other two are of herself and Tony, their lives being full and “beautiful”.

I also thank you for the info on Timer 55, her explanation of which made absolutely no sense. Now we understand.

  35. ada says:

This is not tattoo related but I saw that there WAS a syringe in the Gatorade bottle. Q240.1 and inside a white liquid 240.11. Someone posted about suspecting Casey of poisoning Caylee. I wonder if the syringe played any part in Caylee’s death.

  36. Gavriella says:

    ;) P.S. Justice, I agree.

  37. Kleat says:

    Cindeefromwisconsin,

I’m going to be really reserved in finding that ‘heart shape’ in that set of photos, although I can see something that fits the description, those photos are just not good, the location of the heart residue as seen by the forensic personel, is not pointed out. I do see what you are talking about in the right side but we don’t know either, where the orientation of each piece of tape was on the skull, nor where each was in relation to one another. Which piece or pieces of tape were in contact with the baby, where was the hair that was cut off, if at all on these photos we have. At what stage of the process were these photos taken? Hair mat removed?

I also have a problem with looking at these images through the wavy clear envelope, which has banding of different surface reflection (laterally) and is reflecting light, maybe even ambient room lighting because obviously, this is a record photo, not a scientific documentation photo.

Maybe the patterning/colour of the ‘heart shape’ if read into these photos, is closer to the ‘cheeze toast Jesus’ idea, or maybe it is ‘there’ as it ‘appears’ to be suggested in the tape photos. But I think it’s best to put any reading into these photos, on hold until we can see proper, unobstructed photos, and find out precisely where the ‘residue’ was to have been observed. I’m not sure that the lower right edge is not a ‘fold’ in the tape, and any rose colour in the lighting, is not from the poly film envelope and light source. I’d want to know what lighting was used, what filters might have been used on the camera to compensate for say, ambient room lighting– better yet, photos with detailed information WITHOUT that plastic envelope.

I think we have to hold off finding images, at least until we get more info and unobstructed and properly lit photos.

  38. Gavriella says:

Sorry, but if I might add something here?

Empty star = Freedom = from the responsibility of Caylee = new beginning.
Bella plus star = beauty = Casey.
Vita plus star = life (new life) = Tony.

  39. Kleat says:

Will the defense create a story about the next tattoo appointment, to include fixing/filling in that ‘mistake’ omission in the ‘star’? It seems too obvious a mistake for any decent tattoo artist, to miss– maybe some of these people can’t spell, but they can surely tell a missing part of a design!

  40. suz says:

Ok, casey’s smart enough to create fake emails to fool her gullible parents who don’t seem to wonder who does business on hotmail, and to forge bank deposit slips, and create weird universes of fake coworkers and friends. But I dunno about casey and clever symbolism, or clue giving—like the addy of where she dumped the body, or even “close to HOLT” and other theories that I know people just love, but which seem far fetched to me (and I am a tinfoil hat girl who loves just about every kooky conspiracy theory out there, so go figure!). I need to think about where I have seen the girl thinking along those lines. So far all I come up with is “Mrs. Casey Lazarro” or whatever the heck she wrote like a smitten jr. high schooler. Maybe the “everybody lies, everybody dies” thing—but I thought even that was poached. I dunno. Jury’s out for me on this one, so perhaps I’ll try to be quiet for awhile and let you grown-ups talk, lol.
Lol, now that is a first :)

  41. cindeefromwisconsin says:

Kleat, your analogy is spot on, as usual. Sometimes my emotions run so high, hoping for the one piece of evidence that will point directly at Casey so that the defense can not have any argument against it.

  42. suz says:

PS, since the tattoo dude can solve the riddle—or at least tell us whether he was directed to skip that dot, or whether it was an OOPSIE—I’m tabling my brainstorming on it until then.

  43. Todd in Tulsa says:

    #24 Suz

I would find it mind boggling if the defense would even attempt to justify Casey forging Amy’s checks and siphoning her account by claiming she needed the money in ANY emergency, Caylee related or not. I’ve always been told that “two wrongs don’t make a right”. They may portray Casey as a modern day Robin Hood, but taking what is not yours is wrong, in any fashion. If Casey was that concerned of the welfare of Caylee, (which I don’t believe she was) she would have gotten a real job, not a phantom one. As Judge Strickland said in regards to Casey, “Casey and the truth are strangers”, I would add, “Responsibility and Casey are like oil and water”

  44. Kleat says:

Question– ‘How’ does documentation from the FBI, get to the state? Is it the state’s call? If so , and if every document ‘in the state’s possession’ is now released, I’m surely not buying that this is complete ‘documentation’ in the possession of the FBI– documentation photos alone appear to be cursory.

The state could have more information, have reviewed and discussed findings, documents, but not have possession of same if it is not exculpatory, then why not leave it in the FBI offices? (ie: inculpatory evidence)

  45. Cheryl in TX says:

I never believed that Caylee was drowned in the pool or bathrub. My thoughts on the pool ladder being ‘left up’ that Cindy questioned George about are this: Casey could have easily dipped into the pool to wash off the decomp she got on herself when moving Caylee from the car trunk to the ground in the Anthony’s back yard to possibly Caylee’s lttle play house. She could have changed into fresh clothes after her dip and not wanting the smell of her pants to be noticed by Cindy if she left them at the house, she simply placed them on the back floor board of her car. Never thinking of them again (obviously because she didn’t throw them away). Casey may have left the pool ladder up because she 1.) didn’t think about taking it down since Caylee wasn’t around any longer and so it posed no danger or 2.) Casey was preoccupied with what just transpired and it was the last thing on her mind or 3.) Casey may have the presence of mind to use (for future reference)the pool ladder as an excuse that there was a terrible accident and Caylee drowned in the pool. What are your thoughts?
The duck tape pics are breaking my heart. Poor precious Caylee. I stand on the presumtion that the prosecutors, OCSO and FBI know what they are doing. The reasons for the Death Penalty are written law and the SAO has to play the DP card due to that.I will keep the fasith and follow this case through.
Now please tell me if I am wrong, but wasn’t there some information out there that says Casey bought a new shovel from HOme Depot? Doggone! I know I read that sometime back but I do not remember where. I’ll try to find that link this weekend but please do not hold your breath because I am a proud mother of two and good wife and always have a lot of ‘to dos’ on the weekend. So my question is, how do we know if this is the shovel Casey bought or if it is the shovel from neighbor Brian Burner?

  46. LMFNY says:

I think too much is being read into this. Casey IS NOT that smart.

  47. Kleat says:

MUST qualify my comment about artists, tattoo artists etc, and reading– and put this into context and out of any discrimination category ! Recently seeing tattoos on the news sites with misspelled words in tattoos, my point being that whatever a tattoo artist would miss, it would not be a part of the drawing/design like the ‘star’ center point.

I never saw a photo or video of Tommy until just now, no idea what race, or ethnic group and I would never have made that comment to imply anything, certainly not grouping anyone by those categories in my comment about ‘reading’ or ‘these people’ because I was thinking of ‘artists’ who do the tattoos, they are artists first and wouldn’t miss part of the ‘design’.

(duh– my apologies– badly written comment sorry! No group prejudice at all intended– got lots of artist friends too)

  48. ChicagoJudy says:

I agree that Casey is not as dumb as some folks would think.I believe you have to be a pretty smart person to be able to pull off all the lies. You have to be able to remember them all, who you told what to, and have an answer ready on the tip of your tongue if anyone should question you. That takes a pretty smart person. Cindy is a perfect example. Her recall is great and her responsiveness is almost instantaneous.

  50. silverspnr says:

The fact that she told Lee that the tattoo, itself, was “Caylee-related” is an admission, so yes, that can come in. However, conjecture about WHY A DOT IS MISSING? INADMISSIBLE.

BTW– the prosecution wanting a photo of the tattoo is hardly “recent”. They had to have decided they wanted photographic evidence of it BEFORE they filed a Motion with the court seeking permission to take photos last JUNE.

And as to her being a “Kaiser Soze”….
    With all due respect-
Some Genius she is… spilling decomp in the yard and in the trunk of the Pontiac… dragging detectives to Universal to retrieve her non-existent cell phone from her non-existent office at her non-existent job for the putative purpose of getting a non-existent phone number for the non-existent Zanny the Nanny (and the non-existent Jeff M. Hopkins and the non-existent Juliette Lewis)… not to mention making the fraud charges case a cake-walk for prosecutors…

And let’s not forget sitting behind bars for a year, charged with Murder 1, facing the DEATH PENALTY… eating herself into a plus size with a bad case of back acne, while people all over the web are posting that she deserves the needle for what she did to Caylee.

(And let’s not forget that she hired BAEZ as her defense attorney).

Yeahhhhh… that is some criminal mastermind there.

She only got away with it for 31 days, because Cindy permitted it.

FYI: Tattoos are often priced by their size. A smaller version of that same design, in the same location, in the same ink color would have cost less.

My gracious and All Seeing Sliver-

With much respect, it can also come in if the defense introduces it, as part of their “story”. Which an uncofirmed birdie tells me that is exactly what’s in those attorney meeting videos Baez wants destroyed, and the letter writing ceased. What does that mean? Not a damn thing. She killed this baby. The callous removal of any maternal emotion or attachment this girl ever had died with Caylee. The circumstances of her death and disposal are more macabre than we even know yet.

My analogy to Kaiser Soze is simply relative to the amount of people she has inextricably linked portions of their lives, real or perceived to her own, in an almost instantaneous fashion on July 15. By July 16, Cindy and Casey had the complete history (bogus) down to someone’s mom and some which wedding. If you review Cindy’s FBI interview ( like you have time) Cindy has every minute detail of this BS committed to memory and she only spent a few hours unrecorded with her daughter by then. Do I think she is smart? Smart enough to be lucky. Smart enough to dupe most of her friends for years. Smart enough to live like a parasite off her parents. This woman stole $354 from her Grandfather’s checking account, that could have crippled them and lost his slot at the Nursing Home potentially.

Let me say it a different way if anyone felt I was giving any undue credit to her grey matter.. She is the most enabled person I am personally aware of, and I have known a few. I can remember wishing I had been, seemed those people had it easy.

My mother made me take back a pack of kool aid mix I stuck in my pocket cause it was not my turn to pick the flavor it was my sisters when she probably couldnt afford to waste the gas to go back to the store. Thank You Mommy Blink.

By recent on the photos by June it was almost a year after she was arrested, and I dont know Florida law, but in some jurisdictions they take inmate photos of tats anyway.

Silver, you called me out, you saw my glimmer of fear and you put me in check, I thank you.
