Casey/Caylee Anthony Case: Prosecutors Release Anthony Family Depositions

Orlando, FL– In the latest bombshell in the case against Casey Anthony, late this afternoon prosecutors released the depositions of Anthony family members George, Cindy and Lee.

AnthonysCourt51909

In a highly unusual move, on the eve of what is arguably one of the most anticipated motion hearings to date, we will get a glimpse of exactly what the Anthony’s will be testifying to in the murder trial.

 George Interview Here

Lee Interview Here

Cindy Interview Part I Here

Cindy Interview Part II Here

Prosecutors were previously granted a motion to receive the grand jury testimony of George Anthony, as there were discrepencies between the testimony he gave in that proceeding, and his deposition.

Additionally, this Saturday October 17, CBS show 48 Hours Mystery is airing what appears to be the Anthony’s defending their daughter, and her defense team touting the latest “stranger danger” theory.

Blinkoncrime.com will be posting the transcripts as soon as they become available.

    FROM OS:

Orange Circuit Court Judge Stan Strickland sided with the state on the defense’s request to dismiss the first-degree murder and aggravated child-abuse charges. He ruled that the motion did not meet a legal threshold — but her lawyers can try again.

Her lawyers can try again?? Does this mean if they proffer an “unflawed” motion they might be successful?

Wow…I have been on vacation here in the states, you would have thought being here I would be totally caught getting the latest and greatest in real time and I am more lost then ever….so 48 hours tonight…hmmmmm I am so tempted to watch what Cindy has to say I want to hear her lie even more I in a sick and twisted kind of way) and then compare here statements to the depo believe me I am taking notes…is it bad to wait and watch this circus act on you tube? All of me feels like this is complete betrayal to everything I feel about the A’s and this case…

What about the rest of you good people what are your plans for this fun filled Saturday night?

Thank Goodness I got the flight meds refilled cause I am going to have to take a double dose after this one ;-)

  4. dee says:

ok I am just watching the hearing, I am really happy to see Casey laughing I am glad that see thinks the judges lil joke is so funny…I wonder if she is writing on her doodle paper Mrs. Jose Baez with cute lil hearts around it….man am I angry, now I know why I took a break from this case….

  5. Todd in Tulsa says:

So I suppose “the stranger” was the one who took the car keys and drove around with Caylee was in the trunk as well? Are we sure Baez isn’t just some cheap public defender in a bad disguise?

  6. Mariann says:

MsE- I AM a teacher. And I was “in their faces” from the very beginning so I knew what was going on. I viewed my daughters test scores and knew she was a few points shy of a D but since no “failure notice” was ever given I assumed all those hours of tutoring with the teacher would be worth something. It was a Catholic Academy too- so I just assumed……… well you know how that goes!

  7. Randie says:

At the hearing I wanted to High Five LKB! It IS about the child not the family. But, along with that, have just started reading Cindy’s depo. Now I really want to High Five LKB!!!!

Pages 4-11 Linda does EVERYTHING neecessary so that Cindy doesn’t pull her shannigans (sp) like she did in the other depo. And Linda lays Cindy out.

LKB starts out by commenting on no videos in the room. And there is going to be no screaming at each other. High Five!

    LKB goes on to say…

“lawyers aren’t going to be here to answer your quesitons for you…”

“I will ask you things that would be irrelevant in court and inadmissible in court.”

“have you eaten had you slept good last night” (paraphrased) “the reason I ask you is becasue some of your prior statements were predicated with words like I haven’t eaten I haven’t slept…want to make sure we aren’t operating under the same circumstances today OK?” Hive Five!

LKB tells Cindy that her lawyer can object but the ability to do that is very restricted. High Five!

They DID Not TREAT George the same way :)

    Just love LKB

    My dear Randie-
LOVED your post, but you mean LDB ( Linda Drane Burdick) LKB is Linda K Baden, attorney for the defense, for next time.
Now THAT depo I wish had been videotaped!

  8. LMFNY says:

Why is this family so suspicious of everyone EXCEPT Casey?? She’s the one with the changing stories. She sure is making big time fools of her family. NOT Caylee’s body? Maybe they should have hired their own medical examiner to prove if it is Caylee’s body or not. Very sad.

  9. LMFNY says:

Do you think reading Cindy and Lee’s depo witll put me in a bad mood like I was after reading George’s?

  10. wpgmouse says:

    Blink,

I had read AD’s deposition after its release, but did re-read last night. Indeed, a good suggestion on your part.

What I will say about Lee, is I do not believe he was responsible for or helped in the murder and disposal of little Caylee.

I agree with you, but it is my personal opinion he is lying through his teeth on the 7/3 issue as well as others.

Of course he’s lying through his teeth. My comment did not expand past the date of June 27, KWIM?

  15. njsleuth says:

Blinkster…in regard to #210: I know Lee got some sort of immunity deal. That deal would not give him a “pass” so to speak if he indeed did help in the murder or disposal of little Caylee would it?

Isn’t immunity usually given as a quid pro quo like in testifying against KC? If this is so, when do we find out about this?

I doubt any Anthonys are readers, but since “Elfquest” is a graphic novel ( also can be called a a fat comic book!), anyone from very young can enjoy it. It would be interesting to know if they are any examples in the house…

And about school…( to Kleat, because you nailed it)
    ( clears throat)
I was the classic under-performing intelligent kid. By my junior year, I got A’s in the couple of classes I liked, and cut the rest.I doctored my report cards when they came home in the mail, and intercepted bad letters from school.
If I could fool my very caring mother , then Casey, who was a pro at this stuff, sure could. I did NOT graduate with my class…or ever.
( in my defense, waited till I was 18, went to jr.
college, then to U. Graduated Magna…so not graduating h.s. doesn’t necessarily mean stupid)

This blog is amazing and an eye-opener. I , too, have never followed a case before ( but as a mother was hooked on this from day one…because of fear & horror about Caylee). The level of intelligence and analytical thinking ( and CARING) is very, very impressive.
Thank you Blink, and all of you …
    Bravo. Justice for Caylee.

I can’t believe CBS is not only interviewing the A’s to present lies over the nation’s airwaves, but they have been PAID to do it! For them to also bring out a possible book deal, worth who-knows-how-much, that’s the ultimate insult. I would like to see the interviewer bring up the nauseating question of how they could profit off of a 2 year old girl’s death, and at the same time, be wearing those Caylee buttons, and to top it off by lying and protecting the very person who is RESPONSIBLE for them being in that position AND WEARING THOSE BUTTONS! Am I off my rocker here, and need to call CBS, but my interview would be from the Dr.Phil show?

  19. Celeste B. says:

#216, Mountaintime, quick question…how did you graduate college if you did not finish HS? Did I misread your post?

  20. mountaintime says:

    Celeste,
In California at that time, you could go to J.C. without a H.S. diploma..if you were 18, and also could pass some tests. My scores were high, so I got in. ( That is why I had to wait till 18….I was 16 when I would’ve graduated.)
I could have gone to summer school or night school for my h.s. diploma…but could not see the point.
This was all long ago…and I see now, of course, how foolish I was…but the point, really, was how I deceived my poor parents, rather easily. And how, perhaps, Casey did , too…since we know she was a superb liar and manipulator.
I at least felt very guilty….

HEY BLINK..I AM SURE YOU ARE A BUSY READER AT THE MOMENT..BUT , YOU HAVE GOT TO SEE THIS VIDEO THAT WAS SHOT YESTERDAY AFTER THE HEARING…

DID YOU KNOW THAT THE DUH-FENSE ( BOZO, ANDREA ET AL )WERE ACTUALLY PRANCING AROUND THE REMAINS SIGHT WITH JOY WRAY ( AND THAT BOZO ALSO MET WITH HER )?….

JOY WRAY IS THEIR “STAR WITNESS” ( BOB KEALING WAS ALL OVER HER ABOUT HER BEING THE “ONE” WHO HAD “SEARCHED THE SIGHT”!).

WHY WOULD THE DEFENSE MEET WITH HER AT THE SIGHT ( AND AT HER HOME) IF THEY WERE NOT INCORPORATING HER INTO THEIR P.O.S DEFENSE??..
    SCAR-R-R-RY!

    RE: YOUR COMMENTS BELOW…

Joy Wray told Media that she gave a statement to the defense about being in that EXACT area where remains were found in November and before TES but she was hoping the defense WAS NOT going to use her as “the proof” Caylees’s remains were not there. HUH???????? I need help with this one.

No you dont. She is nuts. The defense and Dom Casey wants nothing to do with her and have said so publicly. She is another “glommer”.
    B

Dom Casey just wrote some letter released in discovery 10/9/09 specifically stated she was not involved with the case or associated with the A’s. If this is their star witness I am about to party. Should go quick.
    B

  24. westsidehudson says:

Okay, perhaps my argument on the high school graduation situation has been carefully cut by other experiences outlined here. However, it still doesn’t make sense that Cindy didn’t know who any of Casey’s friends or boyfriends were. Or most importantly, she never met or saw a photo of the nanny who babysat for her granddaughter. Or that Casey was pregnant. Or that Casey wasn’t actually working. If Casey “borrowed” money from Cindy or Cindy’s mom, to clear things up, wouldn’t she ask Casey for a part of her paycheck (weekly, monthly) to replenish these funds? Just too many incidences of being oblivious, (intentionally?).

    # 215_njsleuth_ It doesn’t look like it is going in that direction. If Lee is telling prosecutors that it’s possible that Caylee is still alive (which I haven’t read yet, can’t bear to) then it seems unlikely that he is going to switch gears and tell them that he helped moved the body.

    # 217_angela_ Maybe the site is just really busy? I went there and got a black screen. But that also happened to me the first day that they were posted, and later they appeared. Maybe they have too much traffic?

On the CBS 48 hours mystery, on the other side of the Neilsen ratings, if they are very high, doesn’t the judge have to consider that in regard to the COV? I know that Silver believed that they would get it (COV), at least for the murder trial. But I would still imagine that the state will point this out to the judge. Since the show is national it advances coverage further than Orlando, and that is contrary to the defense’s argument to move the trial where coverage is lower. That show has coverage everywhere so they are effectively hampering their own clean slate for a trial somewhere.

Kleat, just a thought after I read your last comment on forging docs, possibly high school ones. I wonder if that plays into the “zip it” comment from Baez in Cindy’s depo. The state asked Cindy if she recognized the handwriting, and he went off….no, no no
I’m thinking it either was 2 of those photo exhibits of lists of items turned over to the, defense. One clearly looks like Casey’s big writing. The other I don’t know. Unless there is a third article that wasn’t released because it is sealed….why?

  25. Harry says:

Ragdoll-Ashliegh Banfield gave the credit for pointing out the missing dot on the third star of the tatoo to an email viewer. She complimented the person and made a definitive, direct statement that she had overlooked the dot and even asked Beth Karas if she felt there was significance in the absence of the third dot. Beth stated that it could be if they had the testimony of the tatoo guy as he would be the only one who would have knowledge about why he forgot to place the dot there or whether or not he was instructed to place a dot in only two of the stars.

    I hope this was helpful.

Thanks very much. I have met Ms. Banfield, and I admire her work, that did seem out of character for her. At any rate, Bobby is not talking.

    # 180/78

I can’t see how they believe that this kind of stuff helps Casey. When it can be proven that Cindy wasn’t on the computer, then it just magnifies a cover-up, which then implicates Casey more. How is that helpful?

  28. Muse says:

Hi from a long-time reader who has always been impressed with the expertise in this forum. I just wanted to share my thoughts, especially after reading through the travesty of quite troubling Anthony depositions.

The Anthony clan’s strategy is painfully transparent. I don’t believe their behavior is from their emotional denial at the death of their granddaughter. The pattern of extreme control and manipulation has existed in this family for a very long time, and very sadly, this was just one more unpleasant event to “handle”, sweep under the carpet and move on so Cindy could maintain control with George “Mr. I Don’t Remember” Anthony as a willing accomplice. It has clearly been Cindy’s way of controlling Casey. The only person who gave Casey a script to follow in this charade was her own mother. They knew from the very beginning their daughter was lying and had done harm to baby Caylee (Cindy: “What have you done?”). Something was discovered on July 3 that set the alarms off. And on July 15, even in the face of finding that car, the smell, the stain, and a “missing granddaughter”, Cindy had to control the script rather than do the right thing to reveal what she knew to be the truth. The unmitigated arrogance of this family is appalling.

From the onset, this has been a very conscious and deliberate strategy to distance themselves and their daughter from anything that is remotely incriminating to Casey. (George: I’d sell my soul to the devil to get my daughter out of jail)…a jury’s going to love that one. I don’t think for one second that they believe Caylee is still alive. But they do believe if they can convince the rest of us that she’s alive, it will save their daughter who took that precious baby’s life. One thing is for sure, they have officially been pigeon-holed by the very brilliant and adept Linda Drane Burdick. Their testimony will never pass the smell test with a jury.

While I believe the defense may ultimately be granted a change of venue, they need to be very careful of what they wish for. The demographics of southern Florida is populated with retired, doting grandmothers and grandfathers who will most certainly be devastated by the horrific nature of Caylee’s death, and not take kindly to the actions and deception of Ms. Anthony during those 31 days and the subsequent lies and cover-up by her and the baby’s grandparents to defend their daughter’s actions. And I’m sure the very large Hispanic-Latino community, that will also be part of the jury pool, will be downright enraged that Casey’s only defense is fingering “one of their own”, the mysterious, elusive and invisible Zenaida. I think this is why we are starting to see the shift away from Zanny the nanny to “a stranger did it”.

And one observation on the tattoo…I don’t perceive Casey as having the level of emotional and intellectual insight and maturity for thinking and acting very deeply, especially symbolically – but, the more I have pondered the theory Blink proffered in her recent article, I believe there is something symbolic about the tattoo. Casey told LE that Caylee had a birthmark on her left shoulder. I don’t think it was random that Casey chose this spot for her own newly-designed “birthmark”. Subconscious? Perhaps.

    LE Interview 7/16/08:
Casey: “She has a birthmark on her left shoulder. Um…
Yuri Melich: “What kind of birthmark?”
Casey: It’s just like a small line it almost looks like a small beauty mark.”

Of one thing I am certain – the truth always prevails. You can manipulate it, hide it, distort it – it always finds its way to the light. Just like cream rising to the top. Blink, I thank you for your profound work and your commitment to truth in the legacy of this precious, defenseless baby. The insights and analysis by the contributors in this forum would make any investigative body extremely proud. And Blink, I especially enjoyed your recent pieces “Discovery Review Part I & II”. Clio has nothing over you. :)

Why welcome and thank you. May I ask which of the other 8 you may be?
    B

  29. westsidehudson says:

This has been sticking in my head, Why did Cindy talk about the kids at Universal switching their photos with other kid’s name tags?
I don’t even think that that was a question that was asked of her. I think that it evolved in one of her many long drawn out answers. Does anyone remember this?

  30. westsidehudson says:

#222- Blink, All i heard her say was that she”clued into the dot”. granted, I was not in the same room as the TV. Apologies if I misreported.

    West-
I appreciate you having my back :)
    B

  31. westsidehudson says:

    Muse
Nicely written. I agree with almost all of your assessments. But if Cindy knew for certain what happened when she made the 911 call, she wouldn’t have told them about the smell in the car. So , she may have suspected, but I don’t think she knew for certain, at least at the time of that phone call.

On the jury in Southern Fl, unless the defense has the DP taken off the table, you’re probably right. It will be more difficult to get young men or young party girls on that jury.

#229 WSH Yes, I read that too and the only thing I can think she blurted that out for is to say someone switched with Casey on the sly and picked up Caylee that day she went to get her at the park I believe. There really isn’t any rhyme or reason for her to say that cause none of this would match up in the timeline. Just another of the 1000′s of theories they are trying to float for the prospective jury pool that won’t be belived!

  40. Steadychick says:

Re: switching name tags — perhaps the ID on the lanyard was not Casey’s?

Also, just a couple more thoughts. 1) I picked up in one of the depos, Cindy’s I think, that the inside of the trunk was indeed black. The last document dump revealed that black poly or nylon type fibers were found in the hair mat — hmmmmm. The defense can try to prove “junk science” and deny there was decomp in the trunk, but perhaps they won’t be so easily able to explain away trunk carpet fibers in the victims hair.

    2) There is a great deal of speculation going on over at WS about exhibit 22 in Cindy’s depo. This is where Baez actually tells Cindy to “zip it”. After some photoshopping, a WS member concluded that #22 appears to be a list of things Baez asked KC to bring to his office while she was out on bail, or a list of things she actually did bring. One of the items on that list is “tooth”. Interesting because Caylee was too young to lose a tooth. Also, the ME had stated that Caylee had 18 teeth but only 17 were recovered. Do you think maybe that the A’s found one of Caylee’s teeth in the yard on July 3rd? That certainly would have been enough to set off alarm bells! Blink, can you add any more insight into just what exhibit 22 is?

  41. Todd in Tulsa says:

I must present this inquiry. If everyone knows Spindy and George has lied, is lying, and probably will continue to lie, what is the intended purpose for them going on CBS once again? It’s a re-run, their same stories, what are they hoping to accomplish? Public opinion swaying? That’s far from over. Regardless of what they say, and will continue to say, they are the hostile witnesses that have been described. I wonder if LE and the prosecution is watching this interview and taking notes…

Todd- I join you in boycotting this program.

I have finished anlysis of the depositions of George, Cindy, and Lee. I am more convinced than ever there is a strict strategy in place the State is working. This bush league defense will not know what hit them. I thought I knew everything about this case. Get ready to be surprised all-
    B

  42. Todd in Tulsa says:

I also must ask this. Is it normal in a case like this for the defense to appear on talk shows regularly? If not, don’t they know they’re shooting themselves in the foot? If the defense felt so strongly that Crasey was innocent, why do they feel it necessary to go on continuous talk shows?

  43. Todd in Tulsa says:

Sorry, continuing to talk out loud. I hope Judge Strickland is watching this CBS special, so when Baez requests a change of venue due to their client can’t get a fair trial, I hope he shoves it right back in their face with a solid “denied”.

  44. Todd in Tulsa says:

You’re awesome, blink. I know you keep alot of us from going over the edge with your rationale and legality.

  45. lily says:

B – are you thinking that ANYBODY will be surprised that you will present us with something new to learn about this case? No surprises. You always come through. But now it will be impossible to be patient and wait for you to post again. Thanks a lot.

    Not Anybody, But Possibly.

I know, I apologize, but everything has its purpose, and you know I never tease without backing it up.
That said, unlike the Anthony’s, my interest has always been in finding Caylee, and a subsequent successful prosecution in this case, and I will never sway from that goal, as brutal as it can be on occasion.
    B

  46. Kleat says:

    Hi,

Havent’ caught up yet. But a couple thoughts– first, remembering Lee’s comments about Casey and code talking– it was more about ‘code writing’, that Casey tended to do.

Now– that would be perfect for Baez, to act as postmaster and censor to any and all letters between the Athony family and his client. Casey could tell the family where the baby was, in cryptic language, Baez would know ‘unofficially– one would have to speculate he could figure out or know the ‘code’, so perfect way to pass information as needed to locate the child’s body, and no one, not the FLA Bar could prove anything, if questions asked.

Another separate thought– Baez is burning CD’s to send to certain experts, IIRC, one of the forensic specialists who WOULD need to have access to the photos on the server, and better, the photos on the CD to be shared, is in Canada. (Montreal– but also there was an earlier entomologist or botanist (forget which) in Ontario, maybe he’s been dropped).

Question in my mind would be Judge Strickland’s failure to consider not just what happens if the CD goes out of state, where he has no jurisdiction, but to Canada. In order for materials to be shipped to Canada, they must clear customs in one manner or another. This is extremely risky for someone sending a CD or CD’s to Canada with photos of the body of a child as the contents. This is not being sent by one law enforcement agency to another, it might be shipped for hand delivery by UPS or FedEx, both of which are well served in Canada now.

Sorry Judge Strickland, but if a CD were to be stopped by Canada Customs and the contents found to be a child murdered, bones, body etc, this could be easily explained, but in the meantime, questions might be asked and the need to share those images with other Canadian agencies, might be necessary.

Just speculating here, but if those images of a murdered child enter Canada, wonder what risk of being shared, not necessarily publicly, but sent from one Custom’s agency to another, would be. And who would be responsible should this happen? Certainly not the forensic specialist/the addressee, not Baez– the sender. If Baez tries to mask the real contents for security, this could backfire.

  47. justice23 says:

#241 Oh Blink … please please please don’t make us all wait for the trial. My cat just died and the other one is rigorously twirling in a circle chasing his tail … can you just give us a tidbit of what that surprise might possibly be, pretty pretty please??? With sugar on top?

I have lost sleep over the possibilities envisioned in my mind on this case with all the mud-slinging, the duh-fense’s media tours, FBI slip ups, OCSO blunders, the Anthony lies/deception, etc. It makes me feel world’s better knowing you are suddenly so confident the state knows exactly what it is doing, but next summer feels like a world away right now with as much as I think about this case and justice for Caylee. That’s a long time to have to wait for a bombshell.

I know you can’t really give it all away and I respect you for that … but maybe just a little hint or clue here and there about the surprises? If still not, I totally understand … just dying to know the State definitely has it completely under control. Are they essentially “leading the Ant’s and the duh-fense into their lair w/o them even realizing it? I would actually pay to see that! Linda Drane-Burdick and Kathi Belich are my heroines … you too Blink, {;)! I really hope Belich gets a Pulitzer for all her amazing reporting over the last year on the Anthony case.

Blink, I think the ‘stories’ of ‘wasn’t Caylee, she is alive’, are just as believable as the headlines of the National Enquirer when it writes about finding Elvis on Mars, or Alien Creature born to 78 year old woman.

Same thing– people do buy the mag and it’s unbelievable to me that they do– the only way I see those headlines, is when I am staring blankly at the patterns and arrays of goods at the check-out at a grocery, waiting for my groceries to move forward on the conveyor.

It’s a couple hours from the 48 hrs program, even if I stay awake, I will be sorry if I do watch it. It’s JUNK Food on TV!!

George saw and heard lots of maggots in the trash bag! The key words here are “in the trash bag”. If those maggots were in the bag that had no food in it, and were in fact feeding on grave wax on the paper towels, then I have renewed hope that DNA may yet be found. Can’t wait for these results to be released!

Blink, the three depositions were very difficult and time consuming to just read through them all, let alone analyze. I respect and appreciate what you are doing and anxiously await your thoughts and explanation of the depositions and the State’s strategy.
