AMBER ALERT: Missing 7 Year Old Somer Thompson Found Deceased in Landfill
Clay County, FL– Missing 7 year old Somer Thompson, last seen walking home from school on Monday after running ahead due to an argument with a friend, has been found by Police in the Georgia landfill used by the Clay County area. While officials will not confirm the childs identity prior to confirmation from the Medical Examiners Office, a source inside the investigation has told blinkoncrime.com that Somer’s family has been notified it is her.
Sheriff Rick Beasler said it is routine for Investigators to check garbage routes in a missing persons investigation, and the FBI is on the scene, which has been undisturbed, recovering the child.

I am so devastated to read this. I have been following the case since yesterday and was very hopeful she’d be found alive and well. I feel so sad for her, her family, and especially her twin brother and other siblings. This is the most awful news all day. I pray that they can find the evil person that did this to little Somer.
My heart is so broken right now. I lift all my prayers up to the family.
When will our judicial system change? Make these monster’s who take children face stiffer penalties. If a preditor takes and murders a child, he or she should be given the death penalty. If someone is already serving time for harming a child, DO NOT LET THEM OUT ON PAROLE. They will offend again! Something has got to stop this war on our innocent. Totally unacceptable a child cannot walk home from school in a group of kids and not be safe. This monster must have been watching her for some time and decided he or she needed her more than her family. Such a tragedy, this poor family. I pray they find peace and the siblings do not hold themselves or each other responsible. The only one to blame here is the monster who took her. ORANGE PARK, Fla. (Oct. 21) – Authorities searching for a missing 7-year-old north Florida girl said they found the body of a young child in a Georgia landfill Wednesday, but it has not yet been identified.
Clay County, Fla., Sheriff Rick Beseler first said the body was a female, but then corrected himself and said he couldn’t yet confirm the gender. The parents of Somer Thompson, who has been missing since Monday, have been notified.

On a side note. Last night I was watching Nancy Grace and they were talking to the Grandmother and she was so visibley upset, crying, could hardly breathe and my mind went to how Casey acted over Caylee. This is how someone should behave when this tragedy happens, unlike the party girl did.
Okay, from local police communication, it is a girl. They’re not sure it’s Somer, but think so.

What can we do Blink? This is one of those moments when you feel that you just have to do something, but all you have is your prayers to offer. I feel so helpless in the face of her family’s suffering. And you’re right Cindee. Heaven forbid but I wonder if the Anthony’s ever suffered so.
Run a search on the sex offenders in your area. Give it to people with kids you think are clueless to it’s existance. Offer if able, to carpool kids that are too close to bus, but too young to walk, or organize a parent committee to take turns.
Our babies are at risk, I dont care where you live. ( collective thought)

#20. I am so sorry to keep posting, but I do want to address boz. Please, please, Boz, don’t be downing yourself! So, you’re a man. Women commit these heinous acts, as well! Look where Caylee is, and who knows about Haleigh, and so many others murdered by their own mothers! And if you want to assume rape, well then let’s do! Look at the myriad of middle school teachers (female) who’ve lured hormonal 13 year old boys into their bedrooms! This isn’t a gender thing! It’s sheer insanity! We are losing our moral fiber. We have devalued our children and I don’t give a hoots butt who agrees or doesn’t!

I agree – one strike. There is no reason for offenders to be given a second chance. They need to be removed from population.
I don’t understand what that will take. It seems either law makers don’t care because it’s not happening in their neighborhoods or you find out that they are guilty as well.

blink: My soul is tortured. I am putting my 92 year old mother in a nursing home as we type. My siblings have made my life insugnificant(sp). I have older siblings who have committed suicide, older siblings who have sexually abused there own children. I am the youngest of the lot and the sole responsibility for my my mother. Wrong! I never had children but should have had many. I have witnessed the Anthony’s at young girls high school sporting events and am disgusted. I’m sorry. Like I said, I’m devestated by yet another young child being killed (and probably raped) in our state.
I know, please find your faith, or ability to endure until then.

This is a heartbreaking tragedy. Blink is so right…we must look at the information available to us in our states, cities, neighborhoods to know where people who have past records may live. As the grandmother of two beautiful granddaughters eight and four I constantly remind my daughter and son in law of these incidents. Many times we just do not think it will happen in our area or to our family…but no matter the walk of life…this is real and it is happening far too often. Even my own kids look at me with that little roll of the eye that says…mom you worry too much. In these days, friends, the world continues to harbor many deviants and unknowns and it is very sad that we can no longer let our kids ride bikes in their own neighborhoods. As parents and grandparents we must educate our kids about not going up to cars or listening to strangers who offer treats, etc. And we must tell them many times to get their attention. Then we also have the problem of the people in jobs of responsibilities to children abusing them. Teachers with young students, scout leaders with young scouts, church leaders….unreal that this type of behavior crosses all social circles and all walks of life. We have had programs for years in education that we utilize to teach character. One of the sections addresses innappropriate touching, etc. Sounds like too much sometimes to try to impart to a five or six year old child, but if done the right way may save even one from this type of abuse. I pray for this family to feel the hand of God on their shoulders this very minute.

Wondering if they will find the person who did this quickly, with them finding her lil body in a huge landfill, I am certain they will find evidence in the trash of the area in which she was dumped in, and that should hopefully narrow the search…

While the police chief is being dismissive of an attempted abduction in the same area a week or so earlier, is there any effort to find those predators? It seems too coincidental. This little girl got careless for about 15 minutes and ends up dead. It is a lot to ask a 7 year old, to be careful every single minute.
My heart breaks for this family, but we agree. Why dont people understand that children in these situations are easy targets for predators?

Oh my god Blink. What and the hell is going on in Flordia? It seems to becoming the kid killer Capital of the US. The kiddie offenders CAN NOT be rehabilitate these animals. Gee, he ended up moving……The people that are suppose to watch these animlas DON’T. They NEVER should have been allowed to live that close to a school let alone 2 schools.

already sleuthing this one and I am puzzled (not a surprise) if I am not mistaken the child was taken in Florida found in Georgia, do you or anyone else know how or why the LE knew to check a landfill in a totally different state. I understand it was only 55 miles away but was there some kind of tip that led them there?

I don’t understand something, in my NW FL area school bus drivers will not let a child off the bus without an adult resposible for one that young, even if there are siblings, they just don’t do that here.
Msg. to Boz-I take care of the elderly and let me tell you something, what you have been doing for your Mother is the greatest gift a child can give back to their parent. You can’t manage it anymore and your sibling are worthless, I see it all the time. Your Mom knows what you have done for her, don’t worry! Place her in a good facility, keep a close eye on her and take some you time and see a counselor for all that is bugging you. I’m sure guilt is one of those feelings that need working through. I promise it will help you understand things and lift some the weight off your shoulders. Remember this one thing…YOU are not like those that have made you feel insignificant.
