Charlottesville, VA– As the web continues to buzz and theorize about what might have happened to 20 year old Virginia Tech Student Morgan Harrington October 17th. in efforts to locate her whereabouts; the last people to speak with her from 9:10 PM – 9:20 PM have been identified as University of Virginia basketball players.

Missingmorganharrington2

Lead Investigator, Lt Joe Radar refers to the players as “people the VSP have identified” in his press conference on October 28, 2009.

Speaking on condition of anonymity to blinkoncrime, two separate sources, one within UVA and the other within the investigation, have verified that Morgan Harrington “interacted” with the individuals for approximately 10 minutes in the Lannigan Field Area, where Morgan’s purse was recovered the following morning.

According to Lt Radar, the basketball players, whom they were able to identify and speak with, left the area at 9:20PM in seperate vehicles, stating Morgan was still there when they departed.

The names of the basketball players interviewed by VSP have not been released. Blinkoncrime attempted to reach Cavalier head coach Tony Bennett for comment but no response was received at press time.

Coach Bennet’s office is currently besieged with calls regarding his announcement yesterday that Senior Forward Jamil Tucker  will be taking an indefinite leave of absence from the Cavaliers roster for personal reasons.

“Jamil has some things he has to deal with at this time,” Bennett said. “This leave of absence will give him time to deal with these matters.”

This announcement comes on the heels of Saturday’s announcement that the Cavaliers center, Assane Sene was suspended for the first 3 games for “conduct detrimental to the team.”

It is not known if either player was one of the team members that saw or interacted with Morgan Harrington, nor should a presumption be made that their player status is in any way linked with anything other than what has been released on behalf of UVA.

We need to know the names of the players “interacting” with Morgan–if it was indeed Morgan.

Jamil and Assene are presumed innocent (heh) but this is a curious turn. I’m guessing Blink knows more than she can say/write or reveal.

No assuming. No implications, straight facts only on this one.

Unbelievable ! She wouldnt have had any chances with these gansta’s…Hope we learn more soon
    THX ,Blink

Vidda- all due respect, these men are not accused of anything, and most definately not of being gangsta’s.

To All: I will delete any and all disparaging comments that relate to stereotype or race. We deal in the facts here, not unfounded character asassinations. Newsworthy, of course, rumor- worthy, not unless corroberated by fact.

    Gangsta’s? Wow…what a horrible comment.

Is this about to become another Duke lacrosse scenario? Too many people made too many assumptions about that case and looked what happened….

I hope by now Vidda realized the inappropriateness of that. Like I said, facts only.

Wow. I hope Morgan is okay.

  6. Myst says:

Here is something that I’ve been thinking about, but haven’t seen posted (haven’t seen every post though). Since Morgan’s dad is in the field of Psychology, is it possible that a past patient/client, etc. with a psychologial problem had something to do with this? My thought is that a person who is stalking, waiting or was recently released from a facility might be able to find out that she was going to the concert through social networking sites. Perhaps something that looks random might have been planned. Pardon me it this has been posted already.

  7. TallyHo says:

Jamil’s nickname is “The Thrill”. I haven’t seen him play, but we are huge college basketball fans in my house. (“Our” team plays in a different conference.) Looks like UVA has a new coach who is going to be shorthanded and face some “swirling adversity” this year, as a former coach we had used to phrase it. (Hint, hint, for those of you in Kentucky who aren’t Louisville fans, you’ll hear it at some point) Best of luck to the rest of the team, and I really do pray that this departure has nothing to to with Morgan’s disappearance.

  8. peggyday says:

Watching Dr Phil now….no mention of her interacting with any of the UVA basketball players.

Parents only mention the alleged sighting of her crossing the bridge around 9:30.

I don’t get why her friends just accepted that she was just going to find another ride home…that to me makes no sense, what kind of friend would do that? And then why didn’t they text or call her right after the show? It was her parents that reported her missing…but wouldn’t her friends be worried if they couldn’t get in touch with her after they left the concert?

Peggy, I would not expect the Harrington’s to mention the UVA bb players, this was confirmed information from inside sources, I cannot even be certain they know, or the yield of the conversations with the gentelemen involved.

  9. vidda says:

my bad, sorry…just thinkig that Coach Bennet had his reasons to do what he did…the whole situation surrounded last known hour(s) of this pretty girl is really desturbing

  10. peggyday says:

Assuming her friends just accepted Morgan saying she would find her own way home…wouldn’t they attempt to call her after the concert or the next day?

Do you know if there were any attempts by her friends to contact her after the concert or the next day?

Yes, there were, but I still question them driving her car back without making contact. I do not want to be counter-productive, but it is not behavior I understand, and as far as I know, has already been apologized for by at least one friend. Given that, it is hard to think they do not know more.

  11. Teresa says:

Blink, do you beleive the indefinite leave of absence has anything to do with Morgan?

I am not prepared to comment on that.
    B

  12. Susan says:

That is great if LE has finally narrowed down her whereabouts with some degree of confidence. If these kids interacted with her, maybe they can shed some light on her state of mind, whether she was trying to get in to the concert or if she was leaving, whether she was carrying a purse then or not, what she said, to whom, etc.
The leave of absence at this time is a little suspicious, however, as “having things to work through right now” through a leave of absence sure fits the profile that the police publicized a couple weeks ago.

Susan- this is exactly the point. These men were the last ones to converse with a woman who is missing 10 minutes after. It is hugely relevant. That said, who are they and what do they have to say?

  13. Momof3 says:

Blink, are we SURE it was Morgan? Is the picture in the article taken from 1 of their cells?

If were are positive it was her, then other peoples’ sightings of her would definitely place her at the concert. Someone must have picture of her at least in the background.

This encounter would be after the phone call to her friend saying she would get a ride with friends. I believe that was at 8:28. Do we know if she still had her cell and purse during the time she may have been interacting? (Were they getting along?) Did it fall then?

Thanks so much for the continued updates. Kudos t

Well, at least they did speak to them. Interesting to say the least. They spoke with her for 10 minutes…..Would like to know what about.

Vidda your outa line. Why call them anything except what they are, youngmen who are students at UVA. We know nothing about these youngmen. Would you like you son to be to be called your disparaging name? I wouldn’t……

Blink, Is it known if Morgan was friends/aquant. with any UVA players prior to this night?

    not that I know of
    B

  19. peggyday says:

If her phone was still active when to concert began…why didn’t she just text her friends to either bring her a stub so she could get back in or to bring her her car keys so she could go to her car?

I’m confused about whether her car was there or not….if she said ‘she’d find her own ride home’, to me, that doesn’t sound like she had her car there at the concert.

Can you clarify whether or not her car was at the concert in cville?

    YES. Was at the arena.

  20. scarey says:

An indefinate leave of absence is kind of like a uh permanent thing, not like the other guy who is suspended 3 games to deal with personal things…. strange!

If in fact that sighting was Morgan with the 3 bb players, is there any confirmation that these were 2 of the 3 or did they have any reason to be in the area?

  21. mayhem says:

Blink, do you have any information you can share in regards to what these gentleman may have discussed with Morgan that night? I wonder what their story is. Did they come forward to the police with this information after recognizing her photo, or did a witness tip police that she was conversing with some bball players?

There are several tips that led to the bball players interaction. I confirmed this through 2 sources. The ID of the players has NOT been confirmed.
    B

  22. Kayla says:

    I am confused then.
If “It is not known if either player was one of the team members that saw or interacted with Morgan Harrington, nor should a presumption be made that their player status is in any way linked with anything other than what has been released on behalf of UVA.”
Then why mention their names specifically????
This article tries to insinuate that the 2 are connected.
    Unless they are.

I am not going to take this bait. The article is in context. Please digest accordingly.

  23. TR says:

Having read over Jamil’s MySpace page, it appears he was nothing like a “gangsta.” He and his fellow players were indeed large young men, but it wouldn’t take a 6’9″ man to overpower a woman. It is a curious situation indeed, but I don’t get a bad feeling from this guy. JMO.

  24. JNO says:

B i agree with you.these two young men should not be judged or looked at by the public for any reason other than they talked to morgan.in fact that might be a good thing.maybe they can tell LE if she was coherant, and what state of mind she was in.maybe they can shed some new light on this very sad story.i pray every day for her safe return.

  25. Greg the mongoose says:

Fact UVA basketball players last to be speak with Morgan. My question what time did the concert end?

I have seen two men show up at bus stations, looking for single women to pickup, and abuse. They are pimps and thugs. “They say hey want to go to a Party? They look for vulnerable people.

I suggest everybody rent the movie “Taken” staring Liam Neeson. It shows how some street smarts can save your life.

I have been seduced by a few beautiful woman. While driving on a dark country road I saw a car broken down, with a beautiful woman wearing Daisey dukes waving for help. As I slowed down a jolt of fear over came me. I looked over at the ditch and trees and saw 6 shadows.
I speed ed up and the shadows jumped out of the ditch and trees.
They were bandits. Con artists, and thugs. I have many other stories of female pick pockets, and dangerous dates. For a female at any age it is ten times more dangerous. No one ever thinks they will be a victim of crime. “Until its too late.” Being a very naive person, like myself. Iam lucky to have survived. Most people are good, but you must keep your guard up always.

Most victims will not talk about what happened to them because they are ashamed, and afraid of ridicule by others.

  26. mjh says:

So, if they have confirmed that these boys actually spoke with Morgan, then this confirms the fact that she was there. No?

Some UVA bb players spoke with Morgan, and those men have been identified and spoke with LE, for me, that among other things confirms for me she was there.
    B

  27. susanm says:

why were they there? why did they leave ? where did they go?

  28. Larry says:

Nice job of connecting the dots. FYI, Neither Jamil nor Assane have any history even the slightest misstep with regards to the law. Nancy Grace would be proud of the way you presented the story. You just presented the facts you say? Then ask yourself why you are getting the responses you are.

Larry, I find your post prophetic, in contrast my mine, containing facts and devoid of speculation. Was that your intention?

  29. Liz says:

Didn’t the newspaper delivery lady say she say she saw Morgan talking to three men on UVA’s campus around 3 or 3:30 in the morning? She described one as being tall with curly hair and the other 2 as being shorter. I find it interesting that she described one as tall. He must have been quite tall if she used that as a description. I hope LE is checking this out because the lady said she could pick them out if she was asked. Just a thought.

That is an alleged and unconfirmed sighting, I personally think that could be “Dee”, the JMU student from the video.
    B

  30. Liz says:

Check out the latest from “Blink on Crime”. New article about the UVA basketball players who were the last to speak with Morgan. Very interesting.

  31. Kaz says:

Well, at least it seems as though she made it to the concert, and that’s a starting point? This might be a dumb question(!), but would police be able to search the two vehicles in question with this information, just in case there are leads there?

  32. Liz says:

    Blink,
Looking on HFMDH FB page. Interesting that “Jerry” never replied to your question, huh? You asked him if he was “JH” better know as “HH.

  33. Bobbi says:

Blink: I had the same reaction when I heard that the people Morgan had “limited interaction” with in the parking lot were UVa basketball players. I went through the entire list of players, looking for clues and came up with a list, but I didn’t know about the suspension or leave of absence. I was picking out shorter guys who wouldn’t have stood out as much as a 7-footer would — guys Morgan may not have been intimidated by.

This is ALL SPECULATION, but what if… they invited Morgan to hang out with them until the concert was over. Someone could have slipped the date-rape drug into her drink, or maybe she just had too much to drink. Maybe she had alcohol poisoning or got sick and asphyxiated on her own vomit, though from what I know, Morgan wasn’t a big partier. Then, what if the player(s) panicked because they knew admitting to what happened, even if it was an accident, it would mean (1) loss of scholarship, and/or (2) loss of professional bb career?

  34. john c. says:

this is total defamation. Its totally believable that they could have seen her considering the Arena houses their workout and dining facilities but neither of these guys are gangsters.

Here’s a video you can watch to learn about Sene.

learn before you make stuff up. Heres a video about Sene, goto 4:15 in the video and tell me you think this guy is a gangster.

  35. PamTX says:

Fact: the last people to speak with her from 9:10 PM – 9:20 PM (from the above article)
Fact: “any communication ended on the cell phone about 9:20 PM” (Mrs. Harrington’s comment on the Dr. Phil show today)
Fact: “the last credible sighting was on the bridge about 9:30 PM” (Mrs. Harrington’s comment on the Dr. Phil show today)

On this afternoon’s airing of the taped Dr. Phil show, Mrs. Harrington says that she called her girlfriend to say that she would get a ride home and there were a few texts after that call that have been eliminated by LE and are not part of their investigation.

Do we know if the original 8:48 p.m. timeline of the call to her friend inside the arena is now moved to 9:20 p.m. or that was the time of the last text that has been eliminated as part of the investigation? I taped the Dr. Phil show and have gone over it a few times, but Mrs. Harrington does not really make a clear distinction in her statement.

The reason I ask is because it would make a world of difference, when referring to time in “minutes” and saying such words as “around”, “about”, “approximately”. The same would be to the last sighting on the bridge being “around” or “about” 9:30 PM.

Everyone has said for a long time now that Morgan saying she would get a ride home just doesn’t make sense, as does Dr. Harrington. What if the phone calls and alleged sightings are a few minutes off and she was already picked up/turned into an abduction and forced to make this call. Maybe that’s why Morgan saying that she will get a ride home
    doesn’t make sense.

    Last activity on cell 9:20.
8:48 PM INCOMING call from friends.
Bridge sighting, 9:30PM, which I personally do not believe, or if accurate, she was picked up there.
    B

  36. PamTX says:

Probably should have put my last post on another thread. My apologies.

The timing of the basketball players and the timing of Morgan’s last sighting are very, very close to each other. It will be very strange IMO if Jamil Tucker does not go public with an explanation if in fact, his “leave” is NOT related to Morgan’s case.

In talking with my daughter today, who is also 20 and a college student, about Morgan, she made a comment that was so matter-of-fact, simple, and without thought…she said “maybe she couldn’t get cell phone reception and was looking for a convenience store to use a pay phone, grab something to eat, or just to get out of the cold”. Out of the mouth of my babe! However, could it be as simple as that but she never made it across the bridge to a local convenience store? Is there one in that area?

I have been “Linkn-n-Blinkin” to the point where my husband is asking me how my vacation is going — lol. You will never convince me in a million years that she was not at the concert.

I am with you. She was there. The more time passes the more I have to believe there is a POI. If not, one would have to believe VSP is doing nothing to progress this case, and I do not believe that. As Observer posted earlier, there is significant activity that most were not aware of.
    B

  37. melissa says:

Uh-oh! No matter who they are this looks very suspicious following the announcement from the coach. Think we should expect them to lawyer up now and then maybe a press conference soon after. I dunno, this confuddles the pizz outta me!

  38. SuzeeB says:

I wonder why the basketball players were there that night or is that not unusual?

  39. sweetpea says:

    Blink -
You always take the high road when it comes to these cases and sticking with the facts.

I must admit I am in complete agreement with you on these basketball
    players.

If LE felt they had a case against these young men I doubt they would wait this amount of time to haul them in and take a chance of losing precious evidence. (I hope that would be the case).

Besides if Morgan was indeed out in that area I am sure she came across many different people all of which could be suspect.

  40. Elizabeth says:

Everybody seems scared to take that leap so I will jump right in. If they were in the parking lot talking to her and then her purse was there..humm. But if she was spotted walking the bridge after that..where does that leave us but chasing our tails once again.

  41. blue says:

    http://www.thesabre.com/message_board/basketball/2009/November/12/1142031.php

Doesn’t the trail go cold around the time she was spotted with the basketball players? Um, this isn’t rocket science. And then two players are suspended — one, indefinitely?

If coincidences are coincidences, why do they feel so contrived?

Whoa, not for the faint of heart, and maybe Blink readers, snipped from above link from blue.
Let me say this, I cant say this particular individual is telling the truth, but I had been given this account and sat on it because I could not corroberate, from an alternate source.

Subject: Can’t confirm the claims of the website…
Posted by: Hoo-80 on Thu Nov 12 2009 5:38:46 PM
    Message:

but I can confirm this much. I have an employee that was parked
outside the JPJ all evening waiting for passengers. He saw a girl that
matched the description of Morgan, down to what she was wearing. He
also saw her interact outside the arena with 3 “very tall” black men, and
saw them walking together towards U-Hall. They passed right in front of
his vehicle. My employee has spoken to the police 3 times since that
evening about what he saw. This certainly doesn’t prove anything at all
relative to any UVA basketball players, but unfortunately it does give the
story some credibility. When my emplouee told me the story, my fisrt
thought was please, please, please, don’t let any basketball players be
    involved in this.

  42. melissa says:

SuzeeB I have seen regular dudes (undercover slimeballs) hang outside parkin’ lot hustling, scouting the girls who might just be kinda tipsy and needin a ride. Get my hint. If she was stuck outside and ran across them all alone, everyone inside during show, they probably told her to walk here or there to go back to their car or they drove back to her and snatched her. All hypothetical and IMO except the part about lot hustling. Happens all the time where drinking and drugs might be.

  43. blue says:

I have been thinking a lot about whether or not Morgan made it to the concert, and I’m still iffy on that front, but that pondering led me to question whether or not the friends sent Morgan outside for some reason (to score drugs?) and that’s the reason for all the secrecy. Eh, I don’t know. This case weirds me out. The parents are a bit odd, too. It makes no sense.

I hope they find her and bring her home, and I hope she tells them, in her way, what happened to her.

  44. melissa says:

Hey guys, I don’t think Vidda meant any harm in what she said and Blink already addressed that. Come on, everyone make nice I’m sure it won’t happen again. People slip up all the time. WE all have.

Thanks to all the posters! Great feedback, info and opinions. These new surfacing facts takes the case in a completely different direction, and spin.
On a side note, and not to be rude, or anal but can we all watch our spelling? I have seen this misspelled several times on this site ( which leads me to believe that it is no a typo) and we all are very intelligent people right? Please, Definitely is spelled definitely………NOT definAtely.

  49. sue says:

How do we know that Morgan didn’t engage in some conversation with someone in that parking lot which maybe takes an ugly turn?

Maybe she meets someone who realizes she is impaired and decides to try to take advantage of her?

Maybe they proposition her and she refuses and walks toward the bridge. Maybe this person got in their car and followed her over the bridge and managed to force her into the car. One person driving and one in the passenger seat, it would be very easy and fast for someone to grab her and pull her into their car.
