12:44pm update: “I was on my tractor feeding cows on a remote part of the farm I don’t normally go to,” says the man who actually found the body, Dave Bass. But after all the rain and high winds in recent days, he went out Tuesday morning to check his fences and spotted what he initially thought might be a deer. “It’s a shock,” says Bass.

Thoughts and prayers to the Harrington Family.

I didn’t think it possible for my heart to break for them any more than it already has during the last 3 months.

    I was wrong.

  5. Observer says:

Our Cville community is rocked to the very core.

Our hearts remain as ever with the Harringtons.

We have had an enormous amount of rain here in CVille over the last week, with flooding in certain areas. It has already been speculated that the body became visible as a result of these hard downpours.

My deepest prayers and thoughts to Dan, Gil and Alex. May God wrap his loving arms around them through what must be the worst day of their lives. May the Harrington’s and Morgan continue to feel all of the love and compassion of this site (thank you Blink for providing such a place for all to come to share their ideas and theories, and, even more so, for keeping all focused on the “task at hand”) and all of the other sites dedicated to bring Morgan home. I did not post often but have followed this case through from the very beginning, and, as everyone did – was so hoping for a different outcome! There are a lot of heavy hearts around the world right now. God Bless the Harrington’s.

“… Dan Harrington tells NBC29 he and his wife Gil are on their way to Albemarle County to identify the body found this morning and says it is likely their daughter Morgan, who went missing 101 days ago in Charlottesville.”

Even though this devastating discovery was bound to happen at some point, I am completely overwhelmed with shock and heartache for the Harringtons and all those who knew and loved young Morgan.

    Blink
Thank you for letting us know what you have found out. It seems like all of us are so invested in this family. My heart aches as tears are rolling down my face. I think we all have grown to love Morgan and the Harrington’s. I pray they will know how much everyone cares about them. I am so sorry for them right now. I know they are special people but this is a very deep pain that will be there forever. Their precious child. I cannot even imagine their pain. I pray that God helps them get through this. I want you to know Blink how kind I think you are and how special the work that you do is. Thank you
Momof3 or Mom 3.0: I think you are very kind. It comes through on every post.
All of you are special or you would not be here caring so much for others.
Skyler please write the book. Everyday I am grateful that I am a mom. I love my children very much as I know the Harrington’s do…That is what hurts my heart so much.

Strength and Love to the Harringtons.
    May you find some peace.

Let’s find the person who put her there!!

  25. MsL says:

Hearfelt prayers for the family. Coupled with my prayers for the family are prayers that evidence will be found to bring swift justice to the person(s) responsible.

  26. PamTX says:

It has been a very long time since I have commented on Morgan’s case but have followed each and every comment since my last posting way back when….

Blink – There are no words to express the appreciation many of us have regarding your coverage of Morgan’s case and so many others! It has got to be so very tireless and thankless….but you carry the guiding light most appropriately.

I can only comment on the current rain in the area (Observer #5) and say that it speaks volumes to “tears of heaven” allowing Morgan to find her way home again.

It is a bittersweet day for the Harrington’s. I can’t help but believe that Morgan has been at this location for quite some time and not too long following her disappearance….but that is a forensics discussion for another time, imo.

Thank you again Blink, for covering this case and for so many of you Blinkers who continued the discussion after some of us ran out of leads, ideas, or personal time to commit. You all are incredible!

    Welcome home Morgan!

  27. Maureen says:

Oh this is so sad. My prayers go to her family.

  28. Mom3.0 says:

I am so very sorry. Words can not express the heartbreak I feel for The Harrington’s. My prayers are with them.

Observer,I am so sorry.Thank you for always being there for the community

Rabbit19,I am so sorry for your loss.

Local, and all posters that are from VA, I am so sorry.

Blink and all of BOC I am so sorry. Thank you for your hard work and dedication.

To all of you, my friends here at BOC that have prayed for Morgan’s safe return, I am so sorry.

I hope LE can find out what happened to beautiful Morgan,. If foul play was involved, I pray they will find and prosecute the person or persons that took Morgan from her family.

    Peace Momof3

  29. Amy J. says:

A friend of mine commented to me the other day about how this has been such a rainy, snowy, winter for us which is uncharacteristic for this area since I’ve been here (7 years). I like to think that a higher power wanted Morgan found and this weather may have certainly contributed to it. What a horrible way for her to return to her family. I am praying for the Harringtons and Morgan. I am also praying that they will now have enough evidence to find the horrible person who did this.

  30. Kathy says:

No Blink, it can’t be. My heart is breaking so bad for her family right now. I hope they know how much we care about them and pray they are okay. Blink, thank you for everything you do and everyone on here I consider you close friends and will miss talking and reading your posts daily. My heart is truly broken and couldn’t even read past the headline and pray if they don’t already know who did this they will find out soon and may they burn in HELL!

The poor Harringtons. How awful for them, but I am glad they can finally put her to rest. I am in shock that she was found less than 5 miles from my house. I’ve been down Taylor’s Gap Rd a gazillion times on the way to visit my friend.

This is so awful. Prayers for the friends and family of this lovely young woman. She has been wrapped in Jesus’ arms. Those of us who have watched this unfold are in pain today, too. Right now I want vengeance but someday later I will be looking for justice.

  39. RUMom says:

I can’t even see to type. You BOC bloggers have said it all. I find solace that we good guys out number the bad guys. Just look at everyone involved in this….so supportive…so caring…It took me a month before I could even post…and I am sure there are thousands of good guys out there who have followed this case just like I…To the Harringtons…hope we BOC people have helped you find strength and continue to find strength.
I cannot even say anything else..my heart aches so much.

thank you god she was found ,i was so worried she wouldnt be,blink you insisted she would be found, and i believed ,so this is bittersweet, morgan will not be forgotten,so sad for the unimaginable pain of her family and friends.

  42. SusanInCville says:

Though I’ve not posted previously, as a “local” to the area I’ve been following this story closely. This is terrible. There are no words that will make it better. I ride past there frequently going to see my parents. The Harrington family are in my thoughts and prayers.

I am deeply saddened to hear the news.
My deepest sympathies to the entire Harrington family for their profound loss.
May the love and prayers of so many carry you through this most difficult time.

  44. acho says:

Blink, I do not know how you endure this time and again. You are amazing to advocate for victims in this way when I can only imagine the personal pain days like this bring.

Charlottesville is where I had my babies and built my own family. My heart and happiest memories are there. To think that Gil and Dan Harrington spent that same critical phase of their lives and built so many joyous memories there, only to have to return today for this! I hope in some way they will be able to feel the love and support we all send their way. I feel so helpless to help them.

Observer, whom I am so happy to see on board today, I can’t believe you’ve been to that farm. I have passed it countless times, and IIRC the street sign at the drive says “Anchorage Farm,” because I have wondered over its name. I’m pained for the Bass family, who likely have zero to do with all this.

Today is the first day I’ve really been taken back to the Alicia Showalter Reynolds case. I had never felt there was a link. Today I wonder (I hope you all saw the poster Alison’s comment on the Hook’s article … I linked to it on previous thread). I certainly don’t want to believe Virginia has another serial predator on its hands. Perhaps on a different day, Blink and Observer, you can comment.

  45. PamTX says:

    Blink –
Can you confirm the farm’s distance from that of JPJ:

10 miles and about a 20 min. drive by car from JPJ?

  48. anjeleyz says:

Blink I want to thank you for all you have done, and for all I know you will do to help bring this monster to justice. I know you, like myself and others will not quit this family. I will miss Morgan a great deal, the world has lost a shining light, it is dimmer today by far. My tears have not stopped, and I don’t know when they will. I was always trying to keep love, hope and faith alive for her, even when I had my fears…I am praying for Dan,Gil and Alex, and all those of us who knew and loved Morgan.
I read on WSET that Gil asked that the body not be moved until she gets there. My heart is broken for her and Dan. I pray they have the strength to do this. I pray for Alex as he is waiting in New York.
Hopes and dreams have been shattered today, I believe tears are streaming worldwide for our loss.
