Abemarle County, VA– On the 100 acre parcel of the over 700 acre farm owned by Nancy and David Bass where Morgan Harrington’s remains were recovered yesterday, there may be clues of the furry variety that lead to the identity of Morgan’s murderer.

Speaking on the condition of anonymity, a source inside the investigation has told blinkoncrime.com that questions raised here regarding private deer hunting on the farm have been verified by Virginia State Police.

Anchorage Farm owners do allow some private hunting members and maintains a list of those individuals permitted to do so.

From the time Morgan disappeared and presumably ended up in the hayfield, both archery and firearm deer seasons were in full swing.

Big Brother, or in this case Uncle Buck, was watching.

Camera

Blink, what is that ugly azz thing you say?

It might be sweet Morgan’s Ruth Cooper.

The Cuddeback Scouting Camera with Video and Infared technologies from Cabelas. This is one example of tree trunk and tree stand cutting edge technology that is motion activated with high resolution images on several settings.

Not to be outdone: The Moultrie Game Spy, which you can use to watch your prey like a surveillance screen in real time.

This is another example of the varieties that were in place the night of October 17th.

Morgan was found in a field, almost smack dab in the middle of surrounding tree line’s loaded with tree stands and tree cameras.

She was found without her camera and necklace; both of which have not been located to date.

VSP has been provided the list of known hunters at Anchorage Farm, and are in the process of interviewing them.

If you have hunted the property this season, VSP would appreciate a call:(434) 352-3467

Wow. Good work, Blink. How’d you do dat?
So you’re confirming no necklace and no camera at the scene. Stolen trophy, destroyed evidence?

I am confirming that they were not found, yes. Both very personal items.

Whoa Nellie!!! Thank you, God! Let’s all pray that LE will see exactly who is responsible for Morgan Harrington’s death.

Blink, this is just amazing. No wonder you have been stating that an arrest is imminent.

  4. cj says:

this wonderful news. However, it is this “smack dab in the middle” of the field location that still leads me to believe it is a hunter that left her body there. She was place in an area sheltered from view of the house yet in an open field, equal distance from the tree lines so as to not be detected by fellow hunters who will surely be lining up along those tree line for hunting season. I think the camera’s will likely indicate when she was placed there, but I suspect the perp will be too far away for any distinguishing features to be identified. But this is just my guess, I have no idea how powerful those cameras are.

  5. Word Girl says:

Sorry to be so cryptic. I am overjoyed that these tree cameras may reveal some activity. What perfect timing. Hopefully the hunters will fully cooperate and fill LE in on any of their activities and allow them use of the tree cameras. (not that they can’t be subpoenaed.) (OH, I just saw that we have spell check on here!)

    Hail to the YES!!!

  6. Steady says:

Are there, by chance, any of the trail cameras which have been abandoned, which LE could confiscate and analyze? I know that some still use film, most are digital. A digital cam could have capacity for literally thousands of photos, presumably all date and time stamped. Hopefully those who do maintain their trail cams ahve archived their photos. What a break that would be!

  7. Cathleen says:

I have a feeling that where they found her will help catch him. Like little Sandra Cantu. So glad to see more info on the tree cameras and the hunters list. Someone did this terrible thing. I cried to see she had been found. You hope that she had run off to get away from family or whatever. Unfortunately her life was taken by monster. Rest in Peace Morgan. I pray they catch the monster or monsters asap!

  8. blue says:

For me, this definitely moves the cloud of suspicion away from any hunters that may have, at one time, hunted on this property. Surely they would’ve known these types of devices were in use.

It seems to me that the perp was a local who knew of the land and perhaps partied on it, but was not altogether familiar with it — the placement of the body screams familiarity insofar as the way it was accessed and that it was a secluded area; however, traipsing around in full view of cameras denotes some ignorance about the land which is doubtful of a hunter that used the property for hunting purposes.

Oh, tonight, I think I love Uncle Buck. Please.

  10. anjeleyz says:

Well now, isn’t this a wonderful find! Thank you Blink! I knew a lot of hunters use these cameras, we’ve seen them in a few places hiking…But wouldn’t this be a blessing if they caught the perp on film! I hope he is crapping his pants right now! Hope the language is not to bad. I believe it is someone who is familiar with the area, maybe not the farm, but that he knows the area. And it could very well be a hunter. I hope this helps them close this cae swiftly, and bring this monster to justice!

  11. anjeleyz says:

    *Case
sorry I got excited about this find!

  12. Sister says:

Blink, wow! you would not believe the resolution on some of these cameras. They are popular around these here parts, knew exactly what it was when I say the photo. My, how I hope one or more recorded who did this terrible thing.

  13. Highlander says:

I hope the BG is on candid camera. Great development, things finally seem to be turning the Harrington’s way.

  14. Judi says:

WOW!!! Am I reading this right? Are we thinking that Morgan final moments were caught on one of these cameras? Please tell me it is so…

And, Morgan was NOT found with her camera or necklace BUT did have her bracelet? Sounds to me like her brother didn’t give her the necklace, the BG did and he took it back and that in the beginning, while he was still playing nice, she took pics of him that are on that camera.

Yep, sounding more and more like what Blink said all the way back in the beginning – an obsessed ex!

Man, do I hope those camera caught something. Would that mean that this BG is definately not a hunter since he didn’t know about the cameras? Because, if so, that narrows it down even more.

Way to throw down the Gaublet, woman.

I saw a Discovery show about these types of cameras – they have better-quality imaging than security cameras, and record for longer periods of time.

K- I have a confession. Blink Jr and I have been known to run around the yard with night vision goggles and taped it.

Putting aside how ridiculous a woman my age can “cap the flag”, the resolution of these cams beat any I have seen, hands down.

    Prayin’ like Sally of Peanuts.

“VSP has been provided the list of known hunters at Anchorage Farm, and are in the process of interviewing them.

If you have hunted the property this season, VSP would appreciate a call”

Will VSP be making house calls?

I’m not surprised the camera is still missing, however, I am disappointed the necklace is. I was hoping it would be found with her.

    Another indignity.

Excellent work, Blink. Thank you so much.

  17. starbucks says:

The irony! No pictures of MH and anyone with her that night. Maybe now we’ll have the most important ones.

  18. Ashley says:

OMG! That would be more than a blessing if this was the case! But quick question? I know some people around here with hunting cameras and they check them at least once a week if not multiple times a week especially during hunting season. so wouldn’t they have saw something on their cameras when they reviewed them? I may be completely off here.

I expect since Morgan has been found here, they may not *know* what they saw until now.

  19. Mom3.0 says:

Thank you Blink. I hope some evidence can be retrieved. I doubt the person would have been aware of these cameras, unless they were hunters. No necklace, no camera. Does not seem to fit accident then cover-up does it? Camera taken, maybe. Necklace, not a chance.

  20. Justice says:

Camera’s, as in multiples, Thank You Lord…

The one’s my 2 boys have are something else. Hundreds of photo’s, VERY clear right in your face photos. We have the whole scene of a mountain lion attacking a deer, then dragging her off. It didn’t miss a beat, or should I saw shot.

If the BG wasn’t afraid before, he should be crapping his pants just after 8:33 pm tonight :)

RIP sweet Morgan. Your Justice is coming, very soon indeed…

  21. suz says:

  23. starbucks says:

In a way, I’m surprised this information (about the cameras) is out there before an arrest is made.

  24. playfulg says:

please please let this be caught on camera. What kind of defense for the perp could possibly be presented if it’s so. It’s a small measure of comfort to the Harringtons but at least they would know that person cannot commit another crime in their lifetime. I’m still so broken hearted about Morgan and that’s going to last a lot longer than the satisfaction of knowing the dude does time or no longer lives.

Blink, those are the same kind i had to get. they are a pain in the neck with batteries, but they do get good pics. they dont have a very long distance though, I don’t think they have over 100 ft, range..
OO I hope they got him (them) on camera.

  28. blue says:

I don’t know anything about these types of cameras — for how long do they record? Are the images recorded onto internal memory and erased? Or some other kind of memory? My concern is that three months is a long time — is it possible the images have been erased and therefore the cameras are now useless?

  29. susan says:

fingers crossed for an image. wow! that is amazing news….

  30. NYMom says:

    From this city gal: Wow.

Just another thought–do we know if the red camera was possibly a gift from the ex?

  31. Judi says:

Why take the necklace but not the bracelet?

Camera being gone is because he’s on it.

But, if taking the jewerly, why not the bracelet too?

It meant nothing to him to wish to take it

Wow, Blink. Another great report. You really have your act together on this case. Your blog is such an informative resource.

I hope those camera have show something useful to identify Morgan’s killer. Wouldn’t that be justice?

I’m really surprised her body wasn’t found during deer hunting season which I believe began in November. Maybe one of the hunters saw something and didn’t realize what they saw. Looks like, at the very least, there will be some leads to follow.

If the killer does turn out to be an ex-boyfriend…. How do you kill such a beautiful woman you were supposed to and had once loved? Such a terrible loss.

  34. mary says:

By George Blink I think you’ve got it! I also knew just what it was as soon as I saw it. My hubby’s a caretaker for a hunting preserve and we have a Cabelas catalog on the coffee table right next to the family Bible lol. He says activity has to be within 30 yards. He also mentioned infrared, saying that means a flash wouldn’t go off when a picture is taken.

  35. Mandy says:

Are these things noiseless and otherwise unassuming when they capture pics? Do they flash, etc?

The best ones are infared with a flash timing component.Very discreet.

  36. J2K says:

B, while I have a hard time envisioning you running around in a black-polka-dotted pink dress (a la Sally), I *can* see you darting around the landscape in night-vision goggles. And I mean that in the most admirable way possible.
(Though, I also envision your “Sweet Babbootes” watching the action from a distance, bearing expressions that are half-puzzlement, half-wonderment.)

Anyway! Way to draw out an automatic first down. This should be one helluva drive…

Blink, I found a link to NBC29 indicating deer-hunting season didn’t officially begin until mid November (http://www.nbc29.com/Global/story.asp?S=11507009). I don’t know the laws of hunting. Is it possible for a land owner to grant permission for someone to hunt on his/her property outside the set dates?

  39. mary says:

I agree this might eliminate hunters as they’d know about the cameras, but just the thought of BG sweating bullets makes me feel kind of giddy.

  40. Swiss Miss says:

Oops, hit the submit button too soon.

I’m praying Virginia law allows anyone to hunt on private property at anytime so long as permission is granted by the landowner. Thanks Blink for what I hope is the downfall of the perp(s)!

  41. Kathy says:

This the first time in 2 days I have actually smiled. I pray they got him/them on the camera! Amen!

  42. roageo says:

Woo Hoo!! I’m estatic! Three cheers for the hunter’s cameras!!

I’ve got something to say to the MURDERER of our Angel Morgan….

You evil and stupid slimeball…You’ve been caught with ‘your pants on the ground’ and you’re gonna fall down…fast!!

    Hah!!

  43. mary says:

Cameras would probably be up whether the season was open or not, but especially prior to open season. Hunters track movement and habits that way if I’m not mistaken. My expert is snoring in the next room right now or I’d ask him.

  44. carson says:

It was definitely bow season. The reporters need to learn to google.

    Virginia Bowhunter Survey Participants Needed
In 1997,the Department initiated a statewide bowhunter survey to obtain information on bear, deer, turkey, small game, and furbearer populations. Deer data collected provides important information relative to deer population trends, adult sex ratios, and recruitment. Approximately 300 archers have participated in the past few years. The Department would like to increase the number and distribution of cooperators across the Commonwealth. If you would like to participate in this survey, please indicate your interest and send your mailing address to mike.fies@dgif.virginia.gov. Participants will receive an annual survey form to complete during the early archery deer season and a copy of the results after they are compiled. The Department appreciates your interest and cooperation.
    Urban Archery Deer Seasons
During this season only antlerless deer may be taken.

I’m still astounded by the fact that these cameras are all around the spot where Morgan Harrington’s body was found.

To all of us who have followed this story from the beginning, what an amazingly wonderful turn of events this is. Poor Morgan seemed to have everything go wrong that night for her. Everything!!!

Now, perhaps the most crucial part of that terrible night–and the tragedy she faced at the bitter end–may well be recorded on a camera/cameras. The irony! The murderer/s takes her camera, not even realizing that he is being photographed all the while. I’m praying that the cameras will reveal their long held secrets. Morgan deserves to have everyone know who did this to her. Her family deserves to know. The public deserves to know! And the person who did this needs to know that he didn’t get away with murder!!!

I believe that Morgan had a hand in making sure her body was found. Now, I believe that she will help us know the truth. She was not alone that night in the field. God and His Angels were there–and I’m praying that they made sure that every move was photographed and chronicled.

Rest in Peace, dear beautiful Morgan. Your murderer will soon be brought to justice.~Moonchime

The thing that I am stuck on in the chain of events of the evening is “the kiss” Morgan’s friend gave her before she left. This makes it seem like the friends had the idea Morgan wasn’t returning anytime soon – like something was prearranged or came up that the friends knew about and were okay with. And if the friends have spilled the beans to LE about where Morgan went when she left them at their seats, if it had to do with meeting someone else, surely LE would have checked it out already. In the course of those known about plans, did the BG just randomly abduct Morgan? I can agree with the scenarios offered of how she was taken to the field, but I just cannot reconcile “the kiss” and Morgan getting locked out of the arena. I just need help in determining the events of this very important pivot point of the evening.
